In this episode, we jump to hyperspace and go full Star Wars mode for Episode 11 of Over-Caffeinated Dads.

We kick things off with Triggered, where we dive into some of our favorite weapons from a galaxy far, far away. From iconic lightsabers to legendary blasters, we break down what makes these weapons so memorable and which ones we’d choose if we were thrown into the Star Wars universe ourselves.

Next, we shift into Under the Hood, where we talk ships because what’s Star Wars without incredible spacecraft? We cover some of our favorite ships across the saga, from nimble fighters to massive cruisers, and what makes them stand out in one of the most iconic sci-fi universes ever created.

Well, I don't I'll go first because mine is simple and you can call me a sellout or whatever, but Anakin's will always be my favorite. Yeah. The Skywalker hilt. Yeah. It's I I didn't mind you know some of the other you know notable mention. I thought I thought the one from the video game was pretty cool that you could have a double-sided one or split it into two different ones. But even in that game, I always try to make it look as close to Luke's or as Anakin's as I can. Um and I think Darth Vader has it as well, right? His is yeah, it has like a has black in it. It's like the same style. Yeah, but that's if I have I don't have one, I feel like I'm the only one of us that doesn't have one, but if and when I do, it's gonna be that one. I'm just I know I know it's it's the one everybody knows, but I just a lightsaber like to buy one.

It's really generic. Like there's nothing special about it, but the fact I think it has to be more that it's it's Qui-Gon. It's the person's lightsaber and not just the lightsaber itself. Yeah, so it's not the design, it's just the it's more well it's the story behind it too.

Um just because he's like that one Jedi that was kind of he was a Jedi master that would like voice of reason like this is the prophecy, like you guys are being stupid right now, you know.

It's Duel of the Fates because it's deciding Anakin's fate. Um because if if Qui if Qui-Gon would have lived and he trained Anakin, we wouldn't have Darth Vader.

It's such a shelf back there from when episode two released, there's a Django Feather six-scale figure that came out when episode two released. It's been I've played with that thing so much I have rubber bands holding its holsters down now instead of the original straps that were on it. Yeah. I've got a fancier one up here now, but yeah. I remember all the merch coming out when we were kids. I remember watching, I had we had the original trilogy on VHS. Yep. I watched the crap out of those things.

So me for my favorite saber uh as my helmet included, and mine is the the dark saber, which I have my replica of it that I got when I visited tattoo. Actually, Jordan, you were there with me. Did you get that then? I'm pretty sure. I bought it. I mean, I don't remember. If it wasn't then it Yeah, I I guarantee you it was because I I remember having to try to fit the box. No, you know, you know what? It was the it was when I went back a second time that year because I remember I had to fit the box trying to fit it in my suitcase to fly home because we flew that time instead of drove.

But yeah, the darksaber. Um they were trying, you know, you heard them earlier, they're it's not a real saber. It is a real saber, so it was given to the first Mandalorian to join the Jedi Order. That's who saved it won't. Ultimate a best best guard is a black lightsaber, um Terra Visla, and then it through time it's become the the symbol of whoever holds it leads Mandalore. That's kind of at a for a time held the darksaber. You know, interesting. Some of the the extra stuff, some of the shows and stuff.

What's funny is like even in the Phantom Menace, that's not his voice. When he's like uh the the at last we'll have revenge. Really? Oh, it's not his voice, yeah. I didn't know that. I didn't know that. It's not his voice. It is not his voice. That's what's funny about it. Like he's not an actor.

He's like, he's really not an actor. He just does the stunts. Not to get off too too far off the beaten path, but one thing I liked specifically about his action scenes was the fight scenes in the in one, two, and three were really made it for me. And then it and but it then it kind of dumbs down the one the ones from four, five, and six. Then you watch them in order and you're like, oh, the fighting got worse.

Well, dude, I even I I actually watched a TikTok the other day where it's talking about lightsaber fights and how it's like, how do we go from this? And it shows the duel of the fates fight, and then it shows Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting on Mostafar. It's like, how do we go from this to this? And it shows like Ray and and uh the push fighting and stuff like that. Yeah, it's all slow, and I'm like, yeah, I mean that's different different directors. Well, and that and if you think about it, they were highly trained Jedi's fighting in those other ones. Yeah, these others are not they're like there wasn't like dedicated time for saber training, yeah. That you know what I mean. There's lots of people to duel with and spar with back then when the height at the jet the height of the Jedi Order versus now, like Ray didn't really have anybody to train with except old Luke, you know, and then he was too busy milking his side of a mountain. Is Kylo Ren gonna be dueling with Snoke? No, you know what I mean? So there's those the guards and stuff.

Right. Yeah. And then I liked that in what in the newer in the newer three, um Han picks it up and he's I like this thing. And no one's ever shot it besides Chewie. I thought that was cool that he picked it up and it and it's it's a really strong blaster and it was like blowing everybody away. But you could even see that he was they had they had Harrison Ford pretend like he was struggling with it, so that you get the idea that it's it's a very heavy gun to try and carry.

It's I mean you remember Jurassic Park 2 where they had that like double S the R V looking thing that was like had the tubing in the middle, and they make buses like that, so you figure they would that thing was all made out of wood, the whole thing because they had it at I well, I got we got to see it on the backlot tour at Universal Studios Hollywood, and it was they had it sitting there and it's like it's all coming apart now because it's you know it's got rained on and stuff over the years, but it was all made out of wood, the whole thing.

It's just uh like when the ships from this when the original movies, when those ships sell at auction, and it's like the original ones that they use, the models, the scaled model, yeah. It's cool. Crazy. But so since we're on blasters, and you had mentioned, you know, kind of touched on what I want to talk about. Okay, the bowcaster's effective range. So I think the bowcaster is an actual it's not a laser, it's a pro it has shoots a projectile.

That's what I mean. Um and so I think like going into ballistics. I I just wanted to ask this random question. If you shoot a laser, what's gonna stop it? Do you think it dissipates, or do you think it just keeps going until it hits a target? So like if we walk outside with a laser right now, shoot it up in the sky, is it just gonna keep going into space?

Well, right, but so I think the way they just they talk about the Star Wars blasters is there's actually like it's not just the light, it's not just light coming at them, I think. They talk about there's something with it as well. I thought. Maybe I'm wrong. Like it's not just strictly light.

I would say that it's whenever they have a reload it would just be reloading like battery packs. Yeah, because whenever they whenever they put like if you've in I think there's been some random ones where they've changed the magazine and it looks like it's just an it's just a battery.

That they change. But but I I don't know some of them are like the bowcaster, and there's some other ones that actually it's a projectile that it's it looks like kind of like a laser.

I would guess that it's that it would just keep going. Because every time that they shoot in the movies, it I mean it doesn't disappear. It keeps it keeps going in a straight line until it hits something.

On a ship as well, like you know, you're you're you're in a dogfight in an X-Wing or whatever. Like your laser's gonna keep going until it hits something, like it's just gonna keep going through space until it hits something. That's true. That's kind of like what I was like, I've always wondered how that worked. Like ballistics on on lasers. That's like does it just dissipate over time?

That would also fit into like Star Trek or you know, well, while we're talking about the laser aspect, did you know that so Mandalorians actually used what they called slug throwers when they were in the Mandalorian Jedi War? Because the Jedi couldn't basically old school fire. The projectiles, yeah. They call them slug throwers, and that's what they started using against the Jedi because they can't deflect them.

Um who you know, the the Millennium Falcon, but believe it or not, my favorite ship, and I I don't Jordan, I don't think you knew this before today, and I think Zayn did. Is the um is the snow speeder.

I liked the Battle of Hoff. I had the original Lego version, not the UCS version. Uh, I wish I did. It's it's a modified speeder that was used for um cargo. I guess industrial cargo handling is what I read online, and that that tow hook on the back was for like pulling cargo around.

Yeah, and I and that's another thing I've always liked about I mean, not to again, not to go off the beaten path, but I've always liked how Star Wars will take they they build such a hit or history um that it it it it they literally like all their ships have a story of how it was developed and how you know what I mean. It's not just this is this is it. It's it's it started as this and then the mil they militarized it. And I've always liked the Battle of Hoth as my favorite part of the Star Wars movies with the Walkers and how they use they decided to I don't know if they were always using the hooks or if that was Luke's idea to use the tow hook to try and trip up the walkers.

Okay, all right, good. So Django slash Boba Fett's ship, the slave one, it's a fire pre fire spray pursuit model, and it was a prison vehicle. There was a bunch of them that they made for this prison that you actually go to in because believe it or not, uh Django when his ship he initially had that he got from Jaster Maril, which was his who uh took him in and basically found him and brought him into the Mandalorian Order. He had a ship similar to what the Razorcrest looked like. I don't I don't remember the name of that ship. Um but it was it had the the jump, the big engines like that. It the body was a little bit different. Um but that ship got destroyed when he was going to this prison to break out San Wazell, and that's when he got Slave One, which which he ended up naming it slave one. He got it from that prison, that that asteroid prison, and then blew up the prison. And so no more of those ships are around.

Um, it kind of felt like a fighter jet. Um, I don't remember them ever going into space with it. It seemed like a because it's a speeder, it's yeah, I don't know.

I'm trying to remember which ones that is. It's almost looks like a blade kind of. It's wide, but it just What's it called? She I think she's Bo Katan's cousin or something. I just it's in the Clone Wars series.

Funny enough, they were they kind of did have they I think they're gonna do some what-ifs like that, similar, but I but I know they did a Lego version, believe it or not. Lego, there's like a Lego Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy, and it's where it has like Darth Jar Jar and Oh yeah, and Jedi, Jedi Darth Vader. Or Jedi Vader. So the Lego ones, I haven't seen those actual, but but I've heard it's it's pretty funny, it's pretty entertaining.

Yeah, and also like what's crazy like about Obi-Wan was like you actually do get to see some of like Qui-Gon's personality push off on him as far as like like you he says it very like specifically in um in uh the show. Revenge of the Sith. Oh um, where he's like, My my my my allegiance is I don't care about that. I'm about you know republic and democracy. He's not he's not he's not like I'm for the Jedi order in the Jedi way only. He's like, I want Republic democracy. So he's and and you kind of get glimpses of that where he's like um where Anakin's like, oh, he wants me to they want me to spy on the Chancellor. He's like, Well, like it's not ha it doesn't have nothing to do with just the Jedi being the Jedi. Like, we think this is a dangerous person for these reasons, like we just need you to do this, and which he kind of does, but he doesn't, um, anyways.

And it's like well I think Obi-Wan's kind of like the the exception, like he's not like that, so and then I I I had two other characters that I've always been intrigued by.

They're not my favorite, but I'm I've like learned more about them. Is um Ahsoka Tano, I always thought was cool because it was like a side story of of Anakin having a Padawan that was and then she she doesn't follow one way or the other, she becomes neutral, which is why her lightsaber color changes, right? And I and I thought it was cool that she had two of them, becomes a gray Jedi, and and the fact that she kind of m marches to her own drummer and does and does her own thing, and then on the other side of that coin, Starkiller. Um Darth's apprentice. Yeah. From the Oh, from the video game from uh Force Unleashed, yeah, yeah. I thought it was he was kind of like a kind of like an anti-hero, and I was doing more research where I saw that he was even from a kid, Vader picked him to help him overthrow the emperor, yeah. Like to train him to overthrow the emperor. So it was kind of like and he's conflicted like the whole time. Like, does he like the dark side? Does he like the light side? So yeah, that was me.

I mean, well, and I and I say this because so growing up as a kid watching the VHS, he's like, I picked him cause he's cool. Well, Boba Fett, he wouldn't even Boba Fett's not like a mainstream character, you know, he gets knocked into the Sarlac and stuff, and so like and I love that boa book of Boba Fett continues literally right after. Yeah, and so like that like Boba Fett, and then obviously me being impressionable whenever the the original or the the prequel trilogy came out, you know, Django Fett showing and and all that, like that just they're the armor to me, like I thought that was awesome. The gunfighter ability kind of deal that they got with Boba Fett, Django Fett. And so obviously, for me, you saw by my helmet, my favorite character is Dinjarn. Like this, hands down, will be my favorite. And through the show, you've seen like the conflict where he's like, This is the way, you know, but then he's like But I mean, we can also kind of like we do our own thing. Yeah, we can kind of it doesn't have to be exactly like that, because obviously here's this you know, he meets Boca Tan and then he's like, You guys are Mandalorians. I'm like, uh yeah, we are. She's like, not only are we Mandalorians, like I've been Mandalorian longer than you, you know. So wow. Yeah, we were talking about Jordan.

So they all look alike, but they they try to make ways to make themselves stand out by getting different haircuts and they get tattoos and did you like change the way change the way their armor? I dude, I Bad Batch was awesome. I thought that was a great show.

And so you just kind of get to see a lot of that, and then it also builds some more worlds, you get to visit some more planets.

And so that's who he's like, because she's powerful, and so she's like he's like he basically sends out a message to all the all these bounty hunters, um, trying to says, you know, if you kill her, you get a ultimate reward plus whatever. And I don't remember what else he tells them, but basically and Dooku knew where she was. He could have went and killed her anytime. It's at the when you finally kill her, because you go through this whole progress, like you meet that's when you first meet uh Zamwazelle um is in that game, he meets her and then they end up start working together. Um but it shows how like the ship he started out with his masters or his his his mentorship with Jaster Maril um and then how he gets the fire spray from the prison that kind of goes through all that, and then the ending it's like you kill the you kill uh Kamari Vosa and then all of a sudden Dooku pops out and congratulations on you know completing her prize. But then there's even there's another Mandalorian named Montros that's in there that knows Django because they fought in the Mandalorian Jedi Wars together and they don't like each other because Montros is a I don't even remember what why exactly there's there it talks about the beef, but believe in it's Clancy Brown that does the voice for Montrose. So he's been in he's in Star Wars a couple different times for some different characters, but it's just it's dude, it's awesome. And then of course I got an honorable mention the Star Wars Pod Racing.

Well, I'll wait, I'll wait, Nick, or uh but anyway, that's I'm kind of torn between the two because I I'm a big nostalgia fan, so being able to to to build to to to design your ship, like you said, or to design the the logos and stuff on or the color scheme to change the way your hilt looks, to change the way the color of the saber itself, a little bit of story, you've got a droid with you, you know, you prog you progress your character as you go along with your droid. I like that too. But the battle but the battlefront one is I think is all nostalgia for me. Being able to play the Hoth one and and some of the scenes, I think is awesome.

It was like you already knew it again and you picked up where you left off. I thought that was a very smart move. Like you had to learn how to use the blaster and stuff like that. But um I thought that was very smart for them to do that.

Yeah, if I can customize stuff, I like the game. Um my calcassus in the second one has a mohawk and a big old handlebar in the stuff. Um it's pretty funny. Um and that's why I like you know the Jedi Outcast game. Um, because you can change your lightsaber color. You have all these weapons you can choose from. I never played the um it's it's fun, it's it's GameCube era game, just know that. Yeah. Um that one and then and then Nights of the Old Republic, that's kind of like that old PC game that you know you can you can add stuff to, you can, you know, that's you can modify it, obviously. Um that was kind of like probably my first intro into a game that was out kind of not really outside of the Star Wars world, but outside of like the Empire and Stormtroopers, because there's no Stormtroopers in that, because obviously they didn't exist. Right. Um because it's you know back in the old ways, you know, of Jedi and um and it was cool, like yeah, I sh I really like that a lot. Uh so I agree.

So an honorable mention for me, and I don't know if either of you guys have played it. Well, I think we talked about it, you said you hadn't Star Wars Outlaws. Yeah, there's a lot of people that didn't like it. Yeah, I played it. There's a lot of people that didn't like that game, but I mean I like because it's pretty open world. Now, granted, there are some things you have to modify your speeder to get to certain areas, and you do that as you go along, so you kinda have to it's kind of like the other one. And it was this one was done by Ubisoft, not EA also. Um but I liked that it was free roam and it was again, it was another different aspect where you're not you're not a Jedi, you know. It's she's a she's an outlaw trying to like rob a casino or something to try and find something her mom was try always trying to get, or something. It's like I and I'm forgetting some of the story now as I go, but I also don't want to spoil it in case anybody wants to play it. Um but there's a cool droid in there, one of my another one of my top characters, which is uh the droid she meets along the way. It's one of the he's one of the assassin the specialized rogue assassin droids from the Clone Wars. Oh yeah. He's been like damaged and reprogrammed, so he's like helping her out. But he's he it's cool because he's like you know, he's like he's got the different head, it looks more sleek, it's not as Roger Rogery, you know, where it's got the it's like like chopped off or whatever, you know what I'm talking about, where it's like flat front kind of because they made him where they could put him in clone helmets. Um yeah, and then he wears like a trench coat, you know, so it's just it's cool. I actually modified my Starfield to where that's the that's who follows me around instead of the big robot thing that's in there. But that's a good game, and I I really hope they do they're working on an open world game that's more like Starfield or like a dude.

But like that just had all the different classes, and I you know, let me see if I can read them all off. Because dude, that that game was freaking while he's looking that up.
