We watched off campus, which we will get into here in just a bit. Not all of us watched it. I finished it, you did not.

Um, I rewatched my favorite episode, which is uh I only claim episode six. I also watch a brief moment in time in episode two, which we will talk about that moment because that moment has changed lives. No, we're not. There is our beef. But this week the book we are talking about ties into off campus because we are diving back into the L. Kennedy world, and we read, I reread, you read.

It feels like I read it for the first time because I haven't read it in so long. And I guess I'll just start off with my formal apology. I gave Log not that I gave him a bad rap, but you know, Logan was not my favorite character out of this series for a long time. I like him in like the future generations books. Like I think he's funny. I've always liked him in the other books. I never had a real issue with him. Just the first two votes when he's being weird. Yes. I you know what I take that back. I did have issue, and it was just because I thought that was weird. But of course, in his book they explain why. Yes. But I gave him a bad rep because I reread this book this past weekend, and I was like, man, I actually really enjoy this book, and I feel like I'd never reread it because I'm like, I love Dean's book more. I'm a Dean girly, what can I say?

But you know, it's not a part. But I I feel bad now. I'm like, I you were hating on him for no reason. I was. I was I was kind of a hater, like not a big hater, but like a quiet hater. I was like, I'd see people be like, I'm such a John Logan girly, and I'm like, I could never now look at us. And now look, I kind of have I kind of have a certain respect for him now. Absolutely. Absolutely. So I do I've always liked Grace. I thought Grace was super precious, but yeah, now I have I have a newfound respect for this book. Which I should have reread it before I re read Love Song this year, and I didn't. I didn't even technically reread the deal before I read Love Song, before I read Their Children's. No, I read a few pages. When we when we talked about that first episode, I did not reread it. I know, I know that book by heart. I don't need to reread it. I remember it. It's all up here in the noggin. That's how many times I've reread that book. I could probably, if we were to do like another episode right after this and do Dean's book, had you like read it already, I wouldn't need a refresher. It's all up here in the noggin. It's all up here. It's all up here. But yeah, I will get into it, but I really I found a new a new love for this book. So I'm interested to see what you think of the rest of them. We did talk about reading the rest of them, and you're like, you want me to read all these books? Sure do. Cause we we haven't even gotten to the goods. Or should I say some of the most depressing? I'm kidding. Uh there's only really one real depressing part of Dean's book. Yeah, that's Dean's book. Yeah. Um, if you have not read these books and you have fallen in love with the Prime Show and you have no idea what's about to smack you in the face, I feel really bad. Just stay there. Actually there. Actually.

It's not I just parts I liked. There were parts I liked. Let's let's get into it. Cause there were things I liked personally. There were things that I also feel like we just could have done better.

I.e. a whole lot of it. I feel like Hannah and Garrett were not giving. No. And I also feel like the showrunner kind of just skipped over them entirely. Yeah, they are definitely not the stars of off campus. Which is fine. I'm here for who the actual stars are, and I ain't mad about it. And I will never be mad about it. Because I got things that I thought I'd have to wait a long time for. I thought I was gonna suffer through this show. I thought they were gonna have no interaction. Oh, Allie and Dean. Yeah, I thought there would be like no interaction. None. Because realistically, like in Hannah and Garrett's book, they don't really have any interaction. But like they all these books all run concurrently. Like these are all happening while other plot lines are happening. Yeah. Like even in um I don't think he starts to like disappear, quote unquote, in Logan's book very much, but like Tucker is like noticeably absent. Like, especially in Dean's book. So like you start to notice, you're like, where are you going?

Outside of this show, when I just see interviews, when I pretend that I have never seen these people on a TV show before, um, I think that they are adorable outside of the show. I think they're all very funny. I think you know, I love to hee hee ha ha, but I don't this is still not my Garrett Graham.

The showrunners did, and the writers did a very big disservice to their story in general. Like, we're missing a lot of things. I feel like his dad almost got like a soft edit, which I'm also very angry about. Oh my god. We really could have focused more on the fact that his dad was an abusive piece of shit.

Like, what do you mean? And you just look funny in this one. Even in Shameless, I feel like he was funny. Like, I've never really actually seen that show, but I feel like he was still a giant goofball. So when I'm watching him in the show, I'm going, but wait, where's the funny? And I feel like he's almost like trying too hard. Yeah, it was It just wasn't giving. No. Coach Jensen wasn't really giving for me either, which is sad, because I picture an older man who yells at them more profusely. I feel like they really tried to like they read, they skimmed this book and they said, nah, it's gotta be woker. It's too, it's too toxic masculinity in someone's.

Like, in the book, because I just reread it two days ago, because my book, Garrett Graham, would never um, when he's like, Oh, have you been seeing anybody? He's very like hee hee ha ha about it. He's like, Yeah, she has no idea. And she shows up and she's like, Are you kidding me? And he goes, What do you what do you think this was? Like, of course I'm gonna tell everybody to leave you alone. I know you're a liar. Which I am glad that they took away the I'm paying you to stay away from my son, creepy storyline. But like also it kind of right, but since they took that away, they're taking everything else the essence.

He would not have broken up with her. That was weird. The breakup scene of it all was weird. Mind you, I haven't seen it. This is all from what Mortens told me. I haven't made a past episode say, and that was against my will.

Him quitting hockey. Yeah. Because even in the book, he's like, Yeah, my dad beat me, my dad's a piece of shit. Like, but on the ice was the only time I felt alive. Like, it had nothing to do with, and I get again that it is technically the adaptation, and they're trying to build some sort of world and storyline for them. But you have the material. I do feel like it was an odd I don't feel like it was an odd choice, but it gave me the ick that she ended up like during their when Logan walks in and is like, oh, this is tutoring, and she kisses him instead of Dean, because in the book it's Dean. And I know it's to further that gross storyline that they clear up in his book, but I hate that storyline. It was that storyline gives me the ick. And Dean's book? No, the one in Logan's book is like, oh, I didn't have a crush on you. I just wanted what you have. Like in a relationship.

No. Which, okay, fine. But again, just weird. It's it's funny though. I feel like Ella and Antonio had more chemistry. Yes, on screen. On screen. Honestly, Antonio, like, is very talented. I'll say this until the end of time. I do think he's so super talented. Um, missed opportunity not to have him sing at the karaoke scene at Malone's in the show. Probably because they're like, uh, he's too talented. He's too talented. We have to we have to take it away. But they had more chemistry in that scene. I'm like, well, damn, why don't you just make them date? Yeah, just you're gonna ruin my whole book, anyways.

No, not at all. Like their chemistry kind of sucked. Like, I was not. I wasn't focused on their children. I was so happy or anything. No, I really was just not focused on them at all. Because my other people, this is where they got me, and continue to get her. They continue to get me. Quinn's about to take my money, that's how much they're they're continuing to get me. Stephen Kalen and Mika. I I don't know if I know her last name, but she's she's amazing. Um, both of them, like apart from each other and together have such great chemistry. Like, I feel like individually they have great chemistry with some of the other actors in the show, and like together they're just I don't know, magic. Right. I do wish that they had spaced some of that out from their book in episodes because episode six is their episode. Yeah. But I do wish they had kind of left a little bit for the next the next season, which they did. There's still stuff that they have to do from their book that's missing. That we'll talk about when you get to that book, because there's I won't spoil a lot for you. Um, because it is one of my that's one of my favorite books from the series. There's stuff that they still have to get to, but I I don't like that they took somebody from Briar U already, the other half of the the eight, and said, We're gonna bring this character in to ruin their relationship real fast, and then make him beef with Dean, which is not what happens in the book at all. Indeed, I mean in Logan's book, he comes, he comes in and he's at OpenSkate, and they're like, Oh, who's that? Like, he's super fast, like we want him on the team, and they're like, Oh, that's Hunter Davenport. And he's like, I don't care what I have to do. Yeah, I'll suck his dad. I'll suck his dick. I'm gonna get him on the team, and he did, and he becomes like Dean's little protege, like you see in his book, you see it down the rest of the pipeline. Of course, when summer comes in, like they kind of know each other from school, um, which I am interested to see how soon they bring in summer. Like, and also please don't ruin Summer. That is my favorite character from this series. My favorite female character from this series, anyways. Next to Demi, which you know what, you wanna bring her in. You've already brought in her problem child. Let's just go ahead and get the ball rolling.

I was like, and and I followed um I think his name's Kobe, who plays Bo Maxwell. Because he my sweet Bo Maxwell. If you're gonna change anything in the show, just let him live. If you didn't know, now you know. Let him let the boy live, please. I beg you. But realistically, that's that's where they got me. I don't like that she slept with Hunter in the show. I thought that was weird. Cause he's he's younger than them, too. Which I don't think they t they really like focus too much on. But he is like, he's either a freshman or a sophomore at that point. And they're juniors.

And now they, of course, no longer date. Uh, and Renee Rap is very much a lesbian. Which her and her partner are super cute. But I would love if they were like, hey Renee, can we use your music? But all in all, I'm trying to More than I like to I don't. I it's not that I I like Dean and Allie. That's it. That's it. And Logan. I'm interested in Logan to see what they do with his character. They basically killed Hunter Davenport. I do not want to see Jake Connolly in the show. Do not bring me Jake Connolly in the show unless you can properly cast him. You didn't properly cast Hunter Davenport. So why would you properly cast Jake Connolly? If you can't get Jacob Alordy to play Jake Connolly, which I know you can't, because he's too big for his britches, okay? If you can't get Jake Jacob to play Jake, I don't want to see it and I don't want to hear it. As far as I'm concerned, Jake Connolly, that's my petition. Jake Connolly doesn't exist. If Jacob Alordi's not gonna do it. Cause who else are you gonna get to play the hottest man in this universe? In this book universe, you will literally Hannah loves him, Allie loves him, all the girls talk about how pretty he is, Summer talks about how pretty he is. Of course, Brenna, his future wife, talks about oh, he's actually good looking, I hate his guts. But they're very much enemies to lovers. Love them. Uh even the kids, like in the next generation, Gigi, um, Garrett's Garrett and Hannah's daughter, oh, he's so pretty. He's so pretty. They all talk about how pretty he is. So you're gonna you're telling me that you're gonna cast this man because somebody posted a screenshot on Twitter and it was L Kennedy answering some questions. And she's like, hopefully one step closer to Jake. And everybody's like, Y'all think Dean and Allie are her favorite children, and that's a lie. It's Jake and Brenna. But I've known this from the get-go. I mean, the way she talks about Jake Connolly and all these, this is her baby. Hell, that's my baby. Jake Connolly is absolutely my baby. Do not bring him in here unless you're gonna make him hotter than hot, finer than fine. It cannot be done. I'm just gonna tell you right now, so don't do it. That's my that's my final plea. Please don't do it. And also leave my Bow Maxwell alone.

I liked it. I liked it a lot, but I also was not expecting it to be so heavy. Yes. Um just wait until the next one. Right. Well, I think it's different for me. Well, I think you know, like, I also had an alcoholic father growing up. And like I watching Logan like struggle through this and have these same questions that like everybody that loves an added has. It's like, okay, well, like, what is not why am I not good enough? Why are you still choosing alcohol or drugs ever over me? And like I'm here, and and you don't shape up from me. Yeah. Why am I not enough? So like that one hit home.
