This week on Spill the Spine, We are diving back into the world of Briar U with The Score and The Goal by Elle Kennedy. We’re talking hockey boys, surprise feelings, questionable decisions, found family, and the kind of relationship drama that had us yelling at our books.

From Dean's commitment issues and Allie's chaos-fueled choices in The Score to Tucker and Sabrina giving us one of the sweetest (and most stressful) stories in The Goal, we're breaking down our favorite moments, character growth, and everything that made us laugh, swoon, and occasionally want to throw the book across the room.

As usual, we hand out our star ratings, get wildly off-topic, and somehow spend way too much time discussing everything except the books.

Grab your favorite drink, lace up your skates, and join the chaos.

SPEAKER_03

Are you ready? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Is your green light on? My green light is on. Okay. What? I always have notes. No, you do, I don't, because I don't need notes with you. Oh, well sorry. God is alright, you ready? See, Sniorita. Sy, Sy. Bada me.

unknown

Bada me.

SPEAKER_02

Alright.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome back to this episode of Spill the Spine Pod with me. Morgan. Oh, and me. Wow. Damn, am I recording this episode alone today? You were not paying attention. Uh, it's alright, it's alright. How have you been?

unknown

Good.

SPEAKER_01

It's been a second since we've been back in the quote unquote booth. Like we're recording a rap album. Gengay. In the studio.

SPEAKER_02

Uh good, booked and busy at work. Booked and busy in life. Yeah, that part. We've been busy.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, happy to report. We placed I placed third and you placed fourth in off-campus trivia. We did, we did. I thought it was book trivia. It was not. It was show trivia. Stupid. I was highly disappointed, but it's fine because as I was told, I would have smoked people in it in book trivia. But I feel like I still did really well for show trivia.

SPEAKER_03

For somebody that hates it, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's not that I I watched it once. Like technically I watched it once through, and I rewatched Allie and Dean's episode at least three times. But that's because I love them. Like you Steven and Mika are just I do love them. And then their Quinn episodes. I forgot about that. I did not. Those live rent-free, literally, in my brain. Because isn't that what the episode the story's called? Is rent-free? Yeah. I decided to vote. You could. We listened through your subscription. What are we gonna do next? I don't know. They're still riding the high of rent-free. They're like, we're not gonna announce anybody else.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they wrote the high of uh Ember and Ice for a long time.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like they had other people though.

SPEAKER_03

Mmm. Did they? Yes, the one from um The Pit? Was that? No. No, that was after Tyrese Withers. Tyreek, uh yeah, he did one. I still want to listen to that one. Yeah. And then the guy from the pit. He only did two episodes.

SPEAKER_01

Did he that is see my sister and her friends call him Peep Paw. But we love him. I think he's so cute. Why do they call him Peep Paw? I don't know. It's just the internet joke. Oh, okay. I think other I've seen people on TikTok call him Peep. Or Papa. I'm like, okay. I mean, I guess because he is on the older side. Like, not in a bad way. How old is he? Uh, I'd have to look. How old is Sean Hattie? Let's see.

SPEAKER_03

Can be much older than us.

SPEAKER_01

Um, have you ever seen Sean Hattesy?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think I watched a couple episodes with you. Of the pit? Oh no, not the pit. He's 50. I'm thinking of the other show where they're sabotaging people. Not sabotaging. They are. Oh, it's some trash reality show you made me watch. They're sabotaging people. They're in the house, and there's two of them are. I'm gonna call them murderers. They're not murderers.

SPEAKER_01

Traitors! Traitors, yeah. Oh, that's totally different. I was like, what are you saying?

SPEAKER_03

But that main guy from there did a twin audio. Is he the one?

SPEAKER_01

Alan. No! Oh, I know who you're talking about. I want to listen to Rob's too. There is so Rob came from Love Island. Okay. Which I love Rob. Um, and there is now, I guess they're calling him the blonde Rob, which is that 22-year-old cowboy I was telling you about, because as soon as he said, I was born in 2004, I wanted to die. I said, Whatever do you mean? I'm looking at you as if you were a piece of mean. And now you're you just ruined it by saying, I was born in 2004. And I'm like, if your birth year doesn't start with 19, I'm concerned. My favorite is if as long as they were alive for 9-11, it's okay. He was not. He was not though. Ew. Now I'm never gonna be able to watch Love Island again.

SPEAKER_03

Um, guess what I just saw on my phone? What did you see? Apparently, Monopoly is releasing two special editions of its icon iconic game for Akatar. Really? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Not Fourth Wing? Sad.

SPEAKER_03

I'm sure, I'm sure it would be a good one. I'm sure it's coming, Evangeline.

SPEAKER_01

Did they no? Did you so I know we talked the other day when you saw Rebecca Yarros's post that she's in Turks and Cacobs?

SPEAKER_03

I think she I think it's Turks and Cacobs. I think that's where she said.

SPEAKER_01

She did say underneath that post, I don't know if you read the caption, she's writing from there. So she's got book four underway. Yeah, that's where she I think. That's what she always says. That's what she always says. It's all fun and games. Till you don't actually write my book.

SPEAKER_03

Right. I am everything but write it.

SPEAKER_01

I want to know what this next one's about. This little novella.

SPEAKER_03

I me too. I wonder when we get that one.

SPEAKER_01

Some people said that they think that it could be her parents' story. I do like the letters from Liam. If it was letters from Liam, that would be beautiful. I'd be boo-hooing the entire time. We've established that we don't think it's Sloane and Dane. No, I'm depressing. Just a little something to tide me over with.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe a novella between the fourth and fifth.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe.

SPEAKER_03

I don't need I don't care about Dane and Sloane right now.

SPEAKER_01

I do. I can multitask. More important things to care about. I can care about the other important things. And watch, it's a short story with broccoli.

unknown

Broccoli.

SPEAKER_01

It's not a big thing. I would like it. I would I would read it. 10 out of 10. I don't know. I like the idea that it's about her parents. I like the idea that it could be about the um the original battle, like Yeah, the original six.

SPEAKER_03

The original six. Even the Kodaks. I would like to read that.

SPEAKER_01

Uh the Codec seems too easy. Yeah. Like too obvious. Granted, some of these other things seem too obvious too. Two on the nose. Yeah. We're gonna watch We're All Wrong, and it's some lame. Uh our doc oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

I can't even say her name right now. When the Golden Dragon. Andarna. Andarna, yeah. I heard maybe it's like her trip away.

SPEAKER_01

That would be interesting. To see the Erids.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_03

Army, yeah, the Earids.

SPEAKER_01

I'm saying so. It's been a minute since I've read that book. I really want to go back and reread them. Just for fun, not for for focusing, but just for the funsies of reliving the third book.

SPEAKER_03

I need to listen to the audio of the third one.

SPEAKER_01

I could do that. The dramatized version.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I haven't heard it yet. It's gonna wreck me.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna make me upset. Because reading the book physically made me real upset.

SPEAKER_03

It's gonna be so Oh my god. I'm not ready for it.

SPEAKER_01

Speaking of things I'm not ready for, today they released a notice on Netflix's accounts. Oh yeah. That icebreaker is being made into a show. Which I thought was already a thing that was happening. I have no idea. I won't keep up with it. I can't keep up with the amount of books that I love that are being turned into movie shows and the like.

SPEAKER_03

Um, can we do some F1 shows, please? That'd be fun. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I could I while technically it's a real see can they not do F1? Like, is that different? Because it's technically like brands within the sport. You get what I mean? Like it's a bunch of branding.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like Ferraris and Yeah, and McLaren's and so I feel like that's a little harder to probably with all the IPs and and things. I imagine it's not easy. But it would be very cool. SJ Sylvis. Option your book. We would watch it.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

In fact, I'll be an extra. I will I will literally kick dirt across the pack in the background with the paddock. The paddock commitment. Like I could be anywhere near that. That would be so cool. But speaking of off campus, what did we read this week, Brie?

SPEAKER_03

We read The Score and the Deal by Elton.

SPEAKER_01

We did read the deal. We read the goal.

SPEAKER_03

Oh shit, the goal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's alright. They all get they all start to blur together by the end. It's the something. It's the something for sure.

SPEAKER_03

So is the score? My favorite is the book. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. The score, Dean and Allie, and the goal, Tucker and Sabrina.

SPEAKER_03

I liked them both. Did you? I did. Good, good. Oh, I did not put that on my good reads, though. Let me go do that.

SPEAKER_01

I'm so glad you remembered that. The real question is, let's start here.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

Out of the first four, because obviously you haven't read the rest of them. Where do you what's your ranking? Like who's your favorite and who's your your least favorite?

SPEAKER_03

People I feel like people might be mad, but I can tell you my bottom is probably Garrett and Hannah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'm shocked. I'm shook it actually. Okay, okay. So who's your where like boy, why? Just not even couples, just the boys, like fictional boyfriends only. What is your ranking? Who the first bri uh the first four like are they actually I think I like Tucker.

SPEAKER_03

I think Tucker's number one. Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Okay. My brain's like, okay, listen. There's no judgment. Everybody's entitled to their to their own. That is true. Darlin. Darlin. I do love him. I do wish that that had carried over into the show. Like I feel like it's just missing something.

SPEAKER_03

I don't even talk about the show. And then I guess Dean. Okay. Maybe, maybe Garrett's not at the bottom. Then Garrett and then Logan. I don't, I like them all. They're all just good boyfriends in their own right.

SPEAKER_01

I think my ranking has switched up quite a bit since I started rereading them like for real, for real.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Obviously, Dean's gonna be your number.

SPEAKER_01

Obviously.

SPEAKER_03

Then Garrett. Okay. Then Tucker. No?

SPEAKER_01

No, keep going. This is your guess. And then Logan that puts Logan at the bottom. Yeah. So my new ranking. So my old ranking would have looked something like that. Yeah. And actually, technically, it's Garrett and Dean are usually somewhere tied for first, along with the first one. Oh, I didn't know ties were option. Nah, they're really not. But like in the grand scheme of like all of the rankings, I used to be like, well, they're kind of tied in a way. So in my new ranking, because we did go back and re-I've reread the mistake, like actually like got into it, reread it. It goes, Dean Logan. I really yes. I don't know what happened. Like, and it's probably has something to do with all the propaganda I see on my for you page, too. But for some reason, and Antonio is is so cute. So like I get it. I think my brain is now just like, hmm, I like this. So it's Gostine, Logan, Garrett, and then Tucker. And nothing against Tucker. I still love Tucker. But he they Tucker and Logan always kind of fell to the wayside for me, anyways, because of like the next four. I love all of them really so much. So it was just kind of hard to like put all the rankings into place and be like, oh, this doesn't feel equal. None of it really feels equal because they all, like I said, they all have different qualities that make them good. They all have qualities. I don't hate any one of them.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm partially now a Logan girly. It doesn't make sense to me, but it's just the way my brain works right now. It's just the way things are going. But I Dean will always be my number one. So I'm very intrigued to see they're filming season two now, so I'm getting like all these like screenshots of like them filming in Vancouver.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm always like, what scene is this from the book? It has to be from the book.

SPEAKER_03

I just want to know who they picked for Sabrina.

SPEAKER_01

I'm very interested to see who they pick for Sabrina, and it's gotta be somebody good. It better be good.

SPEAKER_03

And I know, like I'm pretty sure, like in the book she has brown hair, doesn't she? Yeah, she's but I don't picture her as a brunette. I picture her blonde. She's not a blonde. I know she's not. Neither was Ali, and now look at it.

SPEAKER_01

Fair enough! You know what? If you can just start making changes, whoever fits the vibe. Fair enough. I feel like there's gonna be a lot of like adaptations on that side. See what's so interesting, like, as a side note, because we just well, I finished it, you haven't yet, but we watched most of it together every year after.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I will say casting for that, like since I just finished the book, made a lot of sense. They did, I think they did a really good job with it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh good.

SPEAKER_01

The book was okay. But everything else was great. I didn't mind the show. Yeah. I think for the further show.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know if it's just Amazon, but I just feel like their episodes dragged on forever.

SPEAKER_01

I think too, because you had to have so much context, like that's why they felt so long. Because I'd kind of sit there and go, okay, can we like wrap this up? That and they only did eight episodes. If you're only doing eight episodes, when did we as a society stop doing 20 episode seasons or like 10 episodes seasons of 15? We used to be a proper country. Proper country. We did. I'm tired of these eight episodes. Like Bridgerton does it, don't they? Where it's like eight episodes. I haven't watched Bridgerton since the first season. You're missing out on the second season. You want to talk about this. You want to talk about yeurnalism? Watch Johnny Bailey teach a masterclass in yeurnalism. I'd never been so upset to find out that a man was gay in real life. What did man do to deserve him? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Anyways, we can get back to we can talk about the score first. What do you rate it? How do you feel? Because this is your first time reading them. It's not my first time reading them. I'm giving it a four. I liked it. How'd you feel about the emotion parts?

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god. I fucking hated it. I hated the emotional parts. I love the emotion. Watching Dean struggle with Bo's death was so heartbreaking.

SPEAKER_01

Because at some point you get mad, you're like, yeah, I know you're grieving, but um, can you stand the fuck up? Right. And I know, I know everybody grieves differently. Totally, but I also acceptable. Like that was his best friend.

SPEAKER_03

The one thing in his life that he is gonna regret is that he didn't go to his memorial.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. They never really touch on that, like later on down the road. Which is kind of interesting. Like you'd think that they'd kind of touch on it, but they do name Right, because even in uh Tucker's book, it's noted that he's not there.

SPEAKER_03

But we don't get any other Well, it is Tucker's book. Right, but you'd think, like a brief mention of other than he's just going through it.

SPEAKER_01

He's just going through Ye. He's just going through it. But I do like the when Allie's basically like, yeah, we're not doing this. We need space from each other, don't pick fix it. She's basically like, fix it. You wanna be with me? Fine, but fix it. And he did. And he did. Proud of him.

SPEAKER_03

Kind of shit together. Can't believe he got kicked off the hockey team.

SPEAKER_01

You know what? That's okay. Yeah. That wasn't his like and not like Logan or Garrett, where that that's not his dream.

SPEAKER_03

No. He already knew that going in. Like, that's I'm not making a career out of it.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Try not to like yawn. Yees. Yeah. It's been the Monday is Monday. I'm tired. I'm ready for bed.

SPEAKER_01

But 6 o'clock? Is it? Yeah. Is anybody else on the struggle bus? We've been out for like over 12 hours. It's been just like non-stop. Yeah. But I do think it's funny to note that they're originally, she tossed around the idea L. Kennedy did of that moment where they're in the penthouse during Thanksgiving with when Bo's in the penthouse and they'd all gone out that night and like partied and got drunk. And they're like sitting there, and you know, Dean's starting to like fool around a little, and Bo's like, hey. After they finish, though. I'm still here. I'm up. I'm up. I'm still here. And I think she played around with the idea of making that happen, and then eventually it was like, no, it should have. Say goodnight to your friend, sweetie. It should people do also, I will note, have it in their heads that Bo was supposed to be with Summer, his sister, Dean's sister, who we'll talk about in a second, because I love that moment when she comes. Um, and that's just not true. She looked in this book, looked across the room, said, Who's that? At Fitzzy. And they said, Ew, no. And she goes, I want that. Whatever that is, I want it. Terrified him. Terrified. We find that in the last time. Summer and I'd relate to Summer on a deeply personal level. She is my favorite. But I love when she when he gets home that night from the game, and Allie and Summer have been left alone. Yes. And they're watching a scary movie, and all of a sudden the world goes dark because they threw soup on him, tomato soup on him, and hit him with a Wayne Gretzky paperweight. And the cops are there and they're like, ma'am, is this man bothering you? And he's like, I live here. It's hysterical to me, just the way that that whole scene played out where he's just basically concussed and she's like, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. This is why I don't watch scary movies. Same. But I love that scene. I think it's so funny. I just love their vibe. Like, she's like, Yeah, I don't want to do the whole casual thing. And he's like, You just gotta live the life of Dean. You gotta be casual. And then eventually he's like, nah, listen. I think we should be exclusive.

SPEAKER_03

You know what killed me is like the beginning of the book after she hooked up with him and she like blurted it out to Sean. Like he made her feel like shit. I hate Sean.

SPEAKER_01

I hate Sean in the biblical level. I hate Sean in the in the show. Yeah. All my homies hate Sean. As we should. Fucking hate Sean. I do love. I am interested to see that play out in the show. Is when she's like, call Dean, and she's like, You want me to call Dean? Yeah. Dean DeLorentis? Call Dean. You want me to call Dean DeLorentis? I need him. What do you mean? You want me to call Dean? And Hannah's Hannah and Garrett at this point are just like spiraling. Like, what do you mean? You want us to call Dean? What do you what are you talking about? And the next morning after that happens, and they're just standing there in the kitchen, like, what the fuck's going on? Mom and Dad are pissed. He's like, I told you to keep your hands off of her. I told you to leave her.

SPEAKER_03

Dan was oddly upset about this.

SPEAKER_01

You know, well, you have to think too. Anna made a big deal telling him, get your slut of a roommate to keep her his mitts off my best friend. They're best friends.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like she knows how Allie is. She knows like what how Dean is. She's like, those two wouldn't be right for each other. Get away from him. Get away from my best friend. She's just being protective. And in turn, Garrett's like, happy wife, happy life.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I gotta keep this woman happy. And if he fucks that up for me, it's a bad day to beat T. Laurentius. But they eventually got over it. Like everybody was cool for the most part. Until, you know, he went off the rails a little bit. Garrett punches him in the face, literally. That's what did it, though. That's what got him back on the room. He was like, damn, I got knocked in the next year. Let me just set myself up for success. Which is fair. Like, I feel like you need that tough love at some point to be like. Hey, what this is this behavior you're exhibiting is destructive and not productive, and you gotta stop. Yep. What other notes do you have on this one?

SPEAKER_03

Uh, because I had asked you before if we knew why Dean liked having sex in front of everybody, and you're like, No, I don't think they ever told us they did. I just didn't remember it. I think it has to do with his ex. No, he says, I like the idea of getting getting caught, and once I get caught, I like to be watched. Voyeurism. Yeah. I was like, ah, that you know, like that's cool. Kinks are cool, but like, not everybody is consenting to this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, not everybody wants to to look at your ads. Yeah, no. And maybe it's probably college is different, you know. I guess. But that just gives gives a little uh ick to some people. Not everybody wants to be involved.

SPEAKER_03

You know what else I really loved? Hmm. Dean going to her apartment trying to like woo her, and then ended up getting hooked on that French show.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he was basically like, I want to sleep with you again, and she's like, go away. And he shows up when it's raining and is like, What's this? And they end up I love it because it keeps her close to her mom, that's why she watches the show. I think that was very sweet, and then he gets invested, so I think it's also like very And then he gets her the second season. I thought that was so sweet that he like he's like, this show's dumb, but also I'm invested.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I like how we also find out why Sabrina and Dean hate each other so much.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, when you're fucking your teaching assistant and you have no idea, and then you start getting A's for half-assed work, I'd be pissed if I were Sabrina too. Right. Because they did that group project and she got like what a C. B.

SPEAKER_03

She got a B and he got an A.

SPEAKER_01

And he got an A, and she's like, excuse me, that's C level behavior.

SPEAKER_03

Right. And then he didn't realize he was baiting the TA.

SPEAKER_01

That's the crazy part.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

How do you think?

SPEAKER_03

But then tried to like tell the pre professor, like, no, fail me, please. Like, I didn't earn this.

SPEAKER_01

At least he tried to make it right. Like, it was like, hey, fail me, and as like a courtesy to his dad, the teacher knew his dad and was like, Yeah, that's not happening.

SPEAKER_03

But they do hash it out in the the last book. Yes, I do love and she does finally like figure out what actually happened.

SPEAKER_01

I do love in between two, like, while they're like you get his family dynamic, and his parents are very like chill, and his brother's like chill, because he's got three lawyers in the family mom, dad, and his brother, and then you've got Summer who's like, and he's like, Why aren't you at school? And he goes, and she's like, Oh, I don't know, we'll talk about it. And for his brother's like, she's gonna have to sell you herself. I think that is hysterical. Why aren't you at school? Um, I don't know. We'll talk about it. Never wants to talk about it, but I love that book. That is easily one of my favorite books. I'm interested to see because obviously you're into the legacy now, so you know, obviously, they all get married, they all start having kids, yeah. Start having kids. I am so excited, genuinely, for November to roll around where I can see Dean as a dad live and up close. Cause you've only gotten like little glimpses here and there, like, not even really, like, especially in love song, like you get glimpses of him just being agitating in the family group chats, like you get the chats from each of the families who show up to Lake Tahoe for the summer. Because they all have a sh a house that they share, which I think is really cute. But it's very intriguing to me, like, to see him like as a parent. Because I just imagine he's just an insufferable goofball. And then you have Tucker, who's just a well-rounded southern gentleman of a parent.

SPEAKER_03

I'm already pissed off thinking about the show, Tuck.

SPEAKER_01

I know it kind of bums me out. They aged him down. He's not southern enough for me. He's not southern at all. You're right. They don't allude to him being from Texas at all.

SPEAKER_03

That's not the gender.

SPEAKER_01

He ain't from Texas, I can tell. He's gonna change the Ella Langley song. He ain't from Texas, I can tell. I will say, I didn't get technically, I didn't get to reread all of Tucker and Sabrina's book. But I know I remember enough. I remember enough. We'll see just how much. But what do you rate? You put Tucker. I have one more thing to read to you. Okay. What do you have to read to me from this book?

SPEAKER_03

Because I knew it was coming and I knew you would love it. Summer is practically vibrating with excitement now. She saddles close to me and hisses, Who is that? I wrinkled on my nose. You mean Logan? He lives here. He lives here. No, not him. No. The guy with the tats. I didn't catch his name. He goes, Ah Fitzy, Carlin Fitzgerald. She goes, I want him. Me. Me, yeah, yeah. In any room. In any crowded room. Fitzy's already in the show, isn't he? No. No, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Fitz and Summer don't exist in the show yet. Brennan and Jake don't exist in the show yet. There's a lot of people that don't exist in the show yet. Thank God. Because they already screwed up my my Hunter Davenport. Because we do a lot more. But at some point they do, at least next season, Summer does have to appear.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, since they're doing Dean's book.

SPEAKER_01

If she doesn't appear, I will take it as a personal offense.

SPEAKER_03

But you mean that Fitzzy has to be a pier.

SPEAKER_01

Fitzy has to be in there somewhere. If you're bringing Hunter in, which they already have, you have to bring Fitz. It's just a natural snowball at this point. Like you have to bring Fitz in, you have to bring Summer in. Brenna's not far behind. Jake Connolly is not far behind. Which makes me so nervous. I'm not ready for half of these people to not be. It's so interesting because like I'm so protective of the books. And so it's like when I see them in the show, I'm like, that's not right. This isn't my and I like that people get to experience the characters maybe without reading the books. But I'm also like, but in the books, the these are my children.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like I love them so much. Like nobody gets the lore of Fitzy and Summer or like Hunter. I had to explain to Hannah the lore of Hunter Davenport because she was about to read the book and she's like, ooh. So this is the the T in the books. I'm like, no, no. In the books, Hunter Davenport is Dean's son, essentially. This is his homie. This is his takes him under his wing. Takes him under his wing. This is he's teaching him how to get girls left and right. He's teaching them on the ice, like do an extra like time with him on the ice to get him in line. In the show, this man has breathed a breath in the wrong direction, slept with the wrong girl, pissed Dean Clean off. It's alluding that he slept with Summer at some point, which is also not true. I'm just like, what are we doing?

SPEAKER_03

Whatever we want, apparently.

SPEAKER_01

I guess. It's not what I do personally, but you know, I guess it I I guess from a perspective of like knowing the entertainment industry in some regard, you want it to be shock value, I guess. Mm-hmm. I just don't like I don't appreciate the shock value because it hurts my feelings.

SPEAKER_03

It's not even It's the fact that you have you had the goddamn source material and you still just went, ah, we don't need that. Let's just make it how I want to vibe to it. I don't like that.

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't either. Now, how did you feel? Obviously, you put Tucker as number one. I love Tucker. It's not that I don't love him. I like Sabrina. I do like Sabrina. I feel like Sabrina gets like 50-50. Like I see a lot of people be like, you either really love Sabrina or you're like, eh. Yeah, or something like that.

SPEAKER_03

And I really a lot of people are like, she's just a bitch. Probably because of Dean. I don't have very many notes. Like, I don't even I just have one little page of notes.

SPEAKER_01

One little page of notes for Tucker and Sabrina.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I was just so into the book, and I was like, oh, this is fine.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's cute though. I love that. You were like into it. You were like, I like this one.

SPEAKER_03

It just took me forever to fucking read. That's okay. It happens to the best of us. Uh I remember texting you when I first started reading, and I was like, what the what are these first couple of pages?

SPEAKER_01

Unfortunately, her family is sketchy. It's real sketchy.

SPEAKER_03

Right, so you have her stank ass dad. Yep. That obviously slept with her mom. Yes. Come to find out her mom ran away when she was 16, when Sabrina was 16. Stepdad didn't go anywhere. Gross. Right, gross. Then you started sleeping with Nana. And now you're hitting on Sabrina. Which is disgusting. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I just the whole Nana of it all. It was like, you just never left and said, eh, her mom's still here.

SPEAKER_03

I guess I'll just I guess you know, try to like survive. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

She's working like four jobs. She's trying to make ends meet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, trying to so she can actually quit her job and study full time at home.

SPEAKER_01

She knows, like, getting her actual law degree and like being you want to put in hours like with a law firm to get your foot in the door. She's like, I'm not gonna be able to work and and do all of this. So she's like, let me save up as much as I can't. She's very like mature and smart. Right, but then like having to live in this like horrible life. Right. Like I feel like she had a very different story than the other girls. Like, she's very much like, I can do this myself. I don't need anybody's help. She's very like stubborn.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because she's never had anybody and Tuck saying, and Tucker says that all the time. She doesn't know how to accept love. I don't want to stare her off. He's so I do love him. He's so sweet. I love how he's like, Yep, love at first sight. I'm in love with you. The moment he followed her.

SPEAKER_01

Tuck was like, that one, I want that. He pulled a summer and was like, that one, I want that one. And Dean's over here, like, oh, she's a bitch. And he's so patient with her. He is so very patient with her. I love it. I love their I love their arc. I love that she like kind of grows into trusting him. And he's just like waiting. He's like, I'm just gonna be here. I'm just gonna help. Like, even when he's like tracking her down, like when the after they had first like kind of hooked up, and he's like, Well, just take a second to eat, like just be. And I'm like, what a sweet gentleman.

SPEAKER_03

He is, and you know who I do not like? Who? Tucker's mother.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Tucker's mom gets no love. She's not great. No, she's not great. She wasn't my favorite. I do love too that you get like they're all like talking about baby names. Because unfortunately, well, fortunately, we just talk about I'm so pissed.

SPEAKER_03

And I knew as soon as I read it, I went into your office and I was like, please tell me she did not get pregnant from him accidentally sticking it in for like two seconds. And I think I said no. You did say no, and it was it was that. Because I couldn't remember it's been a minute since I've read his book. I was so pissed when I found that out. What do you mean? She's supposed to be on birth control. And it's art. It's only 99.99999. But it's archived. So difficult to get pregnant off of apparently you'd be surprised.

SPEAKER_01

Freedom. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Some people just got strong swimmers.

SPEAKER_01

The math isn't mathing, but he's just got strong swimmers.

SPEAKER_03

Meant to be, I guess. I don't know if I can't.

SPEAKER_01

Meant to be in indeed.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, I kept waiting, and I was like, I hate a fucking lying.

SPEAKER_01

But I do, I do think it's funny, like, they're all talking about baby names, and you get like the the precursor to unfortunately what Hannah's gonna have to name one of her children. Because he's all like, oh, you should name it Gigi. And they're like, oh, like that's kind of cute. And he's like, who was it? Was it Logan that was like, no, no! He only wants you to name a Gigi for Gary Graham. Yeah. And then what does he do? He turns around and looks at his future wife and goes, Hey, one of our children's gonna be named Gigi.

SPEAKER_03

You know how to love their battle to become um. Is it Godfather? Godfather, yes.

SPEAKER_01

I love that. I think they're so dumb. But they did like they like they took it seriously. You know, they all shaped up. They were like, we can't, we gotta be responsible. And I love that.

SPEAKER_03

Even Dean came around.

SPEAKER_01

Even Dean came around.

SPEAKER_03

Apologized, even though he made her cry. And you like he, I'm sure he felt like shit when that happened. Like good.

SPEAKER_01

There, listen, I may be a Dean apologist, but not all the time. You're not gonna make a woman cry and get away with it. Right. We don't get away with that in this house. Never ever. I do love it. I love I just like the found family of it all. Like, I think it's very sweet. And then in the future, like as you go down the rabbit hole, like there's all these like little little things that you learn that you're like, oh, that's cute.

SPEAKER_03

You know, I think why this is one of my favorite books is because they there's no like third act breakup. Thank God. That's so agitating. I I just so happy that they didn't have no fucking breakup in this one.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, technically, Garrett and and Logan really didn't either. Like Dean and Allie had like a I'd call it a third act breakup. She she smacked him and said, Get away from me, and we're done. No, technically, Garrett and Garrett and Hannah technically, she said it was a breakup, but he was like, nah, my girl's coming back. I but it was like a month, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It was like a month of her like dogging him and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

But he knew. Like he was like, nah, my girl's coming back. I just gotta give her a second because whatever she's not telling me is some BS. And it was some BS. It was. I mean, Logan and them. I mean, she literally looked at him and said, Get your shit together. I love you. You're just having a bad day. That was no third act breakup. They had like a they had like a not like a middle breakup.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, when she went to Paris and changed everything.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like that's different. That's mainly not.

SPEAKER_03

I guess, but like they just weren't together. If they like they were together, then they weren't-ish. It was a whole thing. They didn't really have that in Soprena and you're having a baby, I'd hope not. Like I really like that she was just like, you know what? Yes, we're having a baby.

SPEAKER_01

Like, no, I don't. Yeah, you can you can be involved. I do like them. I like their I like that he opens the bar, like he finds his passion. Like, I just love they got a really wholesome ending. And throughout the rest of like the the books, like you can kind of see like they're the it like couple. Like they have a good foundation, they they're good parents, one of their kids is a model, the other one's a lawyer, like they raise smart, independent women, and I expect nothing less coming from the two best people in the world. I expect nothing less, actually, than the rest of the degenerates raise children who are questionable at best. I say that. No, Gigi and Wyatt are actually really great, Blake's really great. They're just, you know, kids. Right. They're in college, they're doing the things that their parents were doing just behind their parents' backs, because those nosy bitches won't leave them alone. It is really funny. I love how nosy they all are, knowing that y'all did worse. And your kids are out here just trying to mind they business.

SPEAKER_03

Nope, I'm not gonna make it easy for you. No. Like their parents did, sending them off to college, okay?

SPEAKER_01

I think you'll love Gigi's book, because Garrett's like parent. He is like, that's my child, nobody touch her, don't look at her, don't breathe in her direction. And she comes back and is like, hey, this tall guy right here, I really like this one, and he's like, get it out of my house, why is it here? I love it, I love it so much. There's there is a moment, I think I told you about this while you were reading or before you read Tucker's book, and it's uh Gigi asking Dean who was the the whore in their friend group, like when they were growing up, and Dean instantly goes, Tucker. He's like, You gotta got your aunt Sabrina pregnant out of out of wedlock, of course. Which, you know, he was like he'd sleep with two or three girls, you know, four at a time, four at a time.

SPEAKER_03

I guess it was three, but it was a four sign.

SPEAKER_01

Either way, he was just quieter about it. Not all of us were shaking ass in the living room, Dean.

SPEAKER_03

Right, not all of us are exmissionists, right? But I love it. But I do love in this book where somebody asked if oh Hannah asked if Dean's sister made a baton brown, and Ludwig's like, oh, I wanted to meet her, and Fitch is like, no, you don't. You're so lucky you didn't.

SPEAKER_01

He's so terrified of her, and it's so funny. Cause she's like this 5'9 ball of energy, just a wholesome, fashion-obsessed homegirl, and he's like, ah, get it away from me. I love it so much. It makes me so happy. Because she's just so funny. He's like, I don't want anything to do with you. Get away from me. Don't talk to me, don't water me. I love it. I love it so much. And I love it. They got I feel like they got a really good, like, wrapped up, happy ending.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Super and Tetra did. I liked it.

SPEAKER_01

I liked it. I thought it was great. That they got their little family. She got to be a lawyer. Yes, I was business. I was so worried she was gonna have to drop out. I like that she didn't. She made it happen. Yeah, she was like, This is my dream. I've come this far, I'm not, I'm not backing down. And she did it, and I think that's really admirable. I love it.

SPEAKER_03

I love that for her, and for him too. They are happy. What are we reading next? Just the question. Fuck, I have no idea. What is in my library?

SPEAKER_01

Well, what is in our library? Your library is a little more stacked than mine. My library is saturated these days. Very much saturated.

SPEAKER_03

Um I have airvolution. Uh Phantasmia. Phantasma.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not ready for that. I'm really not in my I'm in my fun summer era right now. Like, I just want to read fun books. Um. Me scrolling through books that made me cry, going, yeah, that's definitely not up with the fun summer era that you've been in. Do you want to keep it like hockey related? Do you want to read Icebreaker? Yeah, we can. We're gonna read it. They just announced it's coming out for a show. Let's just do it. I haven't read it in a while. It's on Kendall Unlimited. Let's do this.

SPEAKER_03

Add it to my library. What do I return? I guess I can read it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm literally looking at stuff going, what can I return right now?

SPEAKER_03

I have this one called Brittle Hearts. I don't know, is that Brittle Hearts? Yeah. Brittle Heart. I don't think I've heard of it. By Blake Black. Blake Black? I also have this one called Fallen Gods. Is that by um Rachel Van Dyke?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yes, I it's uh it's on my list eventually of things to read.

SPEAKER_03

I have one called Play Along, I can't remember. I'm assuming that's the Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute!

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Windy City? Have you read that yet? I don't know. I'm assuming if you don't recognize what I'm saying. I do because we've talked about the Windy City series before.

SPEAKER_01

We have. We have. That is do you want to do that instead?

SPEAKER_03

Doesn't matter. Let me let me let me look at this. Why don't we do it with Icebreaker first and still Icebreaker first?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, play along is the last one. Or one of the last ones. Do they all go in order like Yes? Oh fuck. And I will make you read. We don't have to read the first one, because I'm not gonna I'm gonna I'm not gonna hold you. And anybody who listens to this, if that's your favorite book, good for you. It's not mine. Now, the one you have in your library is Isaiah Rhodes. And I do love the Rhodes brothers, but we have to do this correctly. We have to do this in order and start with Ryan Shea.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So after Icebreaker, we will convene with my children in the Windy City. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I also have Empire of Flames and Thorns.

SPEAKER_01

Why does that sound familiar?

SPEAKER_03

Marion Blackwood?

SPEAKER_01

No, that doesn't sound familiar. I take it back.

SPEAKER_03

Ruined Wings.

SPEAKER_01

Mm. Sounds slightly familiar.

SPEAKER_03

Annie Anderson. These people all sound fake. Unbound. Where are you getting Britney Jawson? I don't know. Where are you getting your fake books from? Kindle Unlimited? Kindle Unlimited. Fair enough. What the fuck does that say? Rain of Shadow and Endings.

SPEAKER_01

You just be putting books in your library.

SPEAKER_03

I wonder if these are the things I saw on TikTok. Maybe. Bride of Brutal Hearts. I love that. You do love that book. I can't wait till I make you read that one. And In the Blood. What the fuck does that? I don't want to get rid of it. In the Blood? In the Blood. I don't want to get rid of any of these.

SPEAKER_01

At some point, I literally like have books in my library for so long that I just start returning stuff. Because I don't remember why I downloaded it or why I saved it. So I just start I just start stuffing it back in Kindle Unlimited. Go here, take this, here, take this. Take it back. I don't want it no more. Take it back, I don't want it.

SPEAKER_03

I try to get rid of get rid of Bright of Brutal Hearts. I read it.

SPEAKER_01

But that concludes our TED Talk.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

We will be convening, reconvening with Icebreaker next time. We'll get into all the dirty details of that. Because I know it. I know it's nifty. I don't know if I've read it.

SPEAKER_03

I'm pretty sure I have.

SPEAKER_01

I just might get into it and be like, oh, I think I've read this. But I I know for certain I have. Because one of my exes flipped to a page where I was like, no! Don't read that. Don't read that. And he goes, You read I said, No, no, no, no, put it down. Put it down.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not here for your judgment.

SPEAKER_01

Although that one was always Chef's Kiss, so good. And then eventually I can finish out that series because I never finished it, and it would be nice to read Henry's book. You'll meet Henry. I love him so. Okay. Right. We can do that. That concludes our TED Talk. Oh shit.

SPEAKER_03

When did it turn from green to blue? Who the fuck knows? Hopefully, it wouldn't just blow this whole fucking report.

SPEAKER_01

You know what? We've done worse.

SPEAKER_03

Probably. Oh, sorry, Daniel.
