Surprise! We didn't read a book this week... but that definitely didn't stop us from talking.

In this episode, We take a break from reviewing a romance novel and catch up on everything else. From work stories and everyday chaos to the books we're most excited to read next, this episode is basically what happens when two book besties hit record without a reading assignment.

We chat about what's been keeping us busy, the upcoming releases we're dying to get our hands on, and, of course, get sidetracked more than once. If you've ever needed a palate cleanser between books or just wanted to hang out with friends who love to ramble about books (and everything else), this one's for you.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome back to another episode of Spill the Spine Pod. I'm Morgan. Membrie. We're back. With admittedly, not a book this week, guys. Please don't hate us. Uh, it's been a bit of a a month. It has been. It's about to be July. We've had a big 15-year anniversary party at work. We just got off that weekend. We've had many an event, many a lake day. We've been booked to busy.

SPEAKER_00

Or at least doing just a bunch of stuff all summer.

SPEAKER_01

It didn't include reading. Did not, no. Unfortunately, we've been outdoors far too much. We went we went to touch grass.

SPEAKER_00

We were touching water. We've been on the lake. Right, we've been on the lake.

SPEAKER_01

We've been in the pool. I do miss that pool day Saturday. That was so much fun. With everybody from work?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That was good. I liked it.

SPEAKER_01

Chicken tenders will dream about for the rest of our days. They were so good. So good. But other than that, yeah, no. Unfortunately, I've read I've read like some books. Like I read Holly Renee's little series that I can't recall. But it's the playing cards. It looks like the playing cards. I think I showed you those. Um I found them, a shout-out damsel bookstore, whom I love and adore. Um they held a trivia night that we went to. It was for off-campus.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I forgot about that was. For the show, not the book.

SPEAKER_01

We didn't find out until we got there. Um otherwise I definitely wouldn't finish. We placed third fourth. Yes, I placed third, he placed fourth, which was not bad for somebody that didn't even. Right. For you, you didn't finish the show. Well, I was also like feeding you. Shhh. We can't admit to cheating now. Not cheating. It wasn't cheating. I knew the answer. To the two people who placed before me talking about I didn't even read Tucker's book. And I don't think I've read the books. Um, leave, please.

SPEAKER_00

Finding posers is what they are.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just kidding. There's a place for everybody here in whether you like the show or the book or both, or maybe you prefer one over the other like me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They were at there was a fest that Prime did this weekend while we were partying. Um looked super interesting. They announced that there'll be an every year after season two. That's another one I didn't finish. You didn't finish it, but that's okay. I did. Um, I think I you know it's so funny. I was talking about this in Book Club yesterday. I think I prefer the show. Which doesn't usually happen very often. Yeah. But I think I prefer the show. The show was there. The show was good. I feel like the book was just kind of like it was very like cut and dry. Like there wasn't any like you know how on when you're building like the plot, yeah. Like the chart, you're plotting the church of the upward motion. Yeah, there wasn't really because verses like in spoilers, if you don't want to hear spoilers for the show or the book, uh, quickly. But they in the book, like he knew like he that she had slept with his brother.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

And he had already forgiven her for it. She didn't know, like, it was this whole it was kind of just like a meh kind of landing on it. In the show, I think you got I don't know if you got to this point with me or not. Like if you got to the episode where they'd figure it out. I think you did.

SPEAKER_00

I think I made it to like four or five. I feel like you saw though. No, I think we were getting real close to them figuring out. I think the last thing I remember is her getting the bar.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. But at that point, like they were still in a contentious, like, area.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like the show was much more climactic than than the book, which is kind of sad. I've heard Charlie's book, his brother's book, is really good. I think I'm gonna stop. I'm not gonna read like the whole thing, I think I've decided. Like, obviously, I'll read Charlie's book, but not the rest of them. Because it's about other there's books about other people too. Oh, is that really? Not who we're looking for. It's not Geordie and her friend, which was so devastating that there's not a book about them. But I definitely want to read Charlie's. I think that that's gonna be a really good storyline. But they end it, they don't end with them together. Like the show doesn't end with them together. So I'm also intrigued. Like, how are you gonna how are you gonna bounce back from that?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then of course Charlie had a whole ass heart attack at the end of the very end of the episode.

SPEAKER_00

Did they have a heart attack in the movie or the book too?

SPEAKER_01

Maybe I don't I don't think in their book, I don't remember reading that. Maybe I was so over a bunch. I don't know what I was like. But yeah, loved that. They had Your Fault London cast out there too. Loved that one. Loved that movie. We did watch that one. That was pretty good. Waiting for the third one. So good. I don't know. I like their chemistry. Something about them makes sense to me. You definitely liked it more than I did. Yes, but I came into that that first one took me by surprise too. Like I just ended up being like, ooh, like I really, I really like this. Like it was kind of just like bad boy vibes. It's I like it. I do want to read. I kind of like pick their book up, and then I'm just still in that reading slump where I'm like, eh, let me put it in. Nothing sounds good. That's a problem. Nothing sounds good.

SPEAKER_00

And I know we're gonna be so busy reading at the end of the year. Because Rebecca will have two. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

There's Sarah J. Mass books that we're gonna be.

SPEAKER_00

I want to talk about them. We I'm fine without it. Um we are definitely gonna need a whiteboard though. Yeah, I feel like there's gonna be a lot of play.

SPEAKER_01

I want I just wanna know what Rebecca's little novella. I guess it's a novella. I don't does it tell you on Amazon how many pages this is yet? Let me see. I feel like it's a couple hundred. I feel like it's not like super long, but it's definitely like at least two to three. But I f I feel like what what is this gonna be about? Cause you I literally love how I was looking at it again today because I was kind of looking to see if there was anything that piqued my interest or there were new releases that I had missed. And it was like not book four Empyrean series. And I just don't even know what it's called.

SPEAKER_00

Untitled Empyrean.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. People are theorizing it's and that that page count could be wrong. Like if there is one up, could be wrong. I know she said she explained that she kind of had to give like the information to a certain degree for a pre-order. Like, you can't do it without.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like you should have given me nothing other than it's Empyrean, and I would have been like, I'm sold. Sold!

SPEAKER_01

Take my money, here's my card.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think I pre-ordered that one.

SPEAKER_01

No, I usually wait until I'm realistically, I'm waiting until I have more information because I'm not gonna just slap my card down and you give me something that I'm I am like, hmm. I don't typically pre-order.

SPEAKER_00

I was so quick to pre-order.

SPEAKER_01

I pre-ordered, I didn't pre-order Fourth Wing. I bought Fourth Wing. I pre-ordered, because I read Fourth Wing the day before Iron Flame came out, I pre-ordered it as soon as I finished, like right before midnight.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then I did pre-order, I think like maybe a week or two before. I usually with the Kindle, I don't of course it's the Kindle version, so you really have unlimited time to pre-order because I'm not ordering the physical copy. Yeah. So I just pre-ordered like Elle Kennedy's books. I think I pre-order like I think you might have already pre-ordered that. Because it's usually like a $5 pre-order, and I'm like, here, take my part.

SPEAKER_00

I pre-ordered Unrivaled. You pre-ordered that as soon as she announced it. I pre-ordered it before they even confirmed it. You're right. He says, I don't even care if this is a scam.

SPEAKER_01

Take my money.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was an ad on Facebook, I think, that was just like here you go. And then like two hours later, they like That'll be an episode soon, I'm sure, because that's gonna be a book club pick, I think. Ready to even reread this.

SPEAKER_01

This month's will be interesting. I'm really excited. It's an age gap F1 romance, so that'll be good. I think we all determined we weren't gonna do any more of the hee-hee on the hee.

SPEAKER_00

That was crazy. That was inter that was crazy. We read it on uh the phone together. What a what a good friendship.

SPEAKER_01

Just reading 64 pages worth of weird nonsense on the phone together. That was a weird I think I I erased it from my brain. It was a fever dream. I don't even think I put it on Goodreads that I read it. I did, but that's just because I felt like I had to, and it's gonna count towards something. If I'm gonna if I wasted my time, I'm gonna put it on. I might have. Anyway, Bats of Rebecca's 224 pages.

SPEAKER_00

That's too short to be anything substance. I think it's good. Or like maybe the journals, like her dad's journals. Book of Brennan would be interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But I feel like it gives too much away. Liam's letters would be more interesting. Except we'd all be crying. Boohooing for ages on ages. Um people have theorized that it could be the days she was interrogated that we didn't get in, which would also make me boohoo cry. Um could be anything. You already said you don't think it's Dan and Sloane, which depresses me because I oh I paid good money for that. It's not book four, but it's the missing hours. That would be well that would be. Could you imagine if she was like, hey, remember how we said for twelve hours these people are unaccounted for? Here you go. Could you imagine just different POVs? That would be nice. That would be nah, she it just that'd be too nice. It would be that would be too kind to us.

SPEAKER_00

That's pretty much how she's gonna open book four, I would assume, is I don't think so.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I am very adamant that we're not gonna get those hours until like um the end of book four. Not even the end. I say she doesn't clarify until book five. I just don't think she's that's too easy. Sh her giving us the information willingly out in the open, too easy. Remember, she was like, Well, I've told you what her second signet was for for ages. No, you didn't. Okay, listen, we didn't understand.

SPEAKER_00

Took me forever to graph.

SPEAKER_01

It took me forever to graph. All you had to do was put wildest dreams on the playlist, and I went, Oh, that's what you meant by that. Didn't we all doesn't Zayden have a third? Or we all think he has a third? I wanna read I wanna reread these so soon because I'm kind of like, let me just get a whiteboard. Let me start writing stuff down. I feel like I'm missing stuff. Like, I feel like if I do another reread, I will catch more than just what I caught the first or second time.

SPEAKER_00

Rebecca Yoris has explicitly confirmed in interviews that Zaydan will not get a third Sydney to avoid overpowering his character. Of course, of course, of course.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I thought she kind of alluded to one and then I feel like she walked it back. She was like, never mind.

SPEAKER_00

That'd be too much.

SPEAKER_01

Too much! But I think in theory he could have a third one. Because of the being bonded to the same. I think that's kind of what we were leaning towards. Like everybody was like, Well, he's bonded to the same. Not even that that mark that saved that. Yes. That really gave me a big one. Yes. That too. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

There's so many variables in these books that I'm like, could go this way, could go that way. Well, does that mean if he doesn't get one, does Violet get a third one? Nah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like she's kind of like, eh, it's too much. Two is enough. Dane Dane does not No. Yes, he does. Have a second one? See, I'm forgetting like who's I need a whiteboard and a reread to write down like who's got what. Because some of these unreliable narrators are really taken away from what I think what I know, thought I knew to be current business. I haven't seen many interviews. I know she's been doing interviews, but I also know what she's in in turn. She's been doing everything fucking forth. No, she's writing in Turks and Keikos. She's writing in Turks and Keikos. I just uh don't recall. But that comes out soon.

SPEAKER_00

It comes out in September, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, like in the September or something. Something something. It's a quick little it's a quick little read. I do want to, however, have like read the other ones. I wanna have read the others, you know?

SPEAKER_00

I might actually read it. I I should open my copy that I got.

SPEAKER_01

Oh you fancy one? I do want nice, like what I think once the series is finished, I want really nice ones. That's how I feel about the powerless series. That one's a book talk, like either you either really like it or you think that it was plagiarized, and to a certain degree, like everything is the same. It's like TV shows. Yeah. It's like to a certain degree, you guys have to understand, like, things are gonna be similar. Like, there's only so many ways you can do it successfully. I have not read The Red Queen. That's the one that everybody says was that she copied. I mean, if you want to get into the Cassandra Claire of it all, y'all, I don't see y'all talking about mortal instruments. Wasn't didn't she didn't she steal from literal Harry Potter fanfiction? Let's let's just be real. Everybody's inspired by something that's gonna be similar. I can't speak on it. Now I can't speak to say for sure that Powerless that series was copied. Right. Because I haven't read the other one, and I will not say, you know, but I did I like Powerless? Absolutely. Have I tried to read The Red Queen and I just wasn't enthused yet? Yeah, kinda. Yeah, but like Fifty Shades of Grey came from Twilight. A Twilight fan fig, yes. Uh Love Hypothesis, nobody cares that that was a Relo fan fiction. Y'all stole that from Star Wars. Don't go stealing my Star Wars content for your My culture is not your costume. I don't you know, and I'm actually they I think they released the trailer for that movie too. For which one? The Love Hypothesis. Have you read it? No. I don't Love Hypothesis. Admittedly care for Allie Hazelwood's writing. I think she's cool. I love that she does women in STEM. I think that's really awesome that all of your main female characters are women in STEM and they're super smart and they're awesome. But I'm not I'm not intrigued enough. But you know, grumpy yeah, it's like grumpy sounds like she's got some interesting tropes. Deep I've heard Deep End was pretty good. I think that one kind of is different from but like the love hypothesis and like love at theoretically, I think it is, um, and like books like those, like they're kind of like a similar vibe.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Speaking of movies, what's that one?

SPEAKER_01

Didn't she do bride? She did Bride and Mate too, if I'm not mistaken. Oh no idea. Bride was a big one. That one went that one.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like I vaguely remember that one.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's another one that I'm like, eh, it's not for me. But if it's for you, go forth. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

But speaking of movies, we watched Oh, letter letters voicemails to my sister.

SPEAKER_01

Voicemails for Isabel. Yes. Nick Robinson is back in his rom-com bag. It was a very good I like it. Boohooed. I think I looked over and you were kind of boo-hooing a little.

SPEAKER_00

Megan was not boohooing that night.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's fine. She was like, I'm not emotion.

SPEAKER_00

Got all my emotions out before.

SPEAKER_01

I definitely like, well, I have a sister, so I definitely was like, what would I do if my sister was sick and like just left me? Like I thought it was so sweet that she like left her voicemails. Now, did I think it was cool that he was just like, I'm gonna go meet up with her and not tell her that I've been getting her sister's voicemails because I have her phone number. Like, that wasn't cool. But I think it was a good movie. Um hate to tell you this now. Allegedly, uh the s Zoe Deutsch Deutsch, who stars in that movie, has been uh a part of controversy online. Oh no, what is she things we don't agree with? Oh wait, who is it? Uh Zoe Deutsch, I believe is how you say her last name. It's more of a Twitter thing. I can't I haven't verified it myself, so I'm not gonna speak on it. But I was like, there's there's a little there's there's some controversy that people are are starting to bring up, and I was like, I'm not aware of of any of this. But you know, overall, good movie. I can separate the people in it from the movie and still say it was a really good movie. Super beautiful. Yeah. No, no, no. It's it's really like social. You know how people start to like pull things on social media? Like, like the Love Island girl who got snatched in the middle of the Remember I told you she got snatched from the villa in the middle of the night the other night because she said the N-word hard R.

SPEAKER_00

I can't believe hard R is crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Don't say it at all, but realistically, madam, don't don't really go all the way. I didn't watch the video, so I can't say for sure, but people are saying it was the hard R. But yeah, she got snatched in the middle of the night. It's kind of like that where people just start surfacing like you know, old stuff like that. Because people just, you know, love to do that with their time instead of other productive things. Not really finding too much. I'll have to find it.

SPEAKER_00

Additionally, she signed an open letter alongside several other celebrities in October 2023, Standing with Israel. Yeah, that's that's what it is. But then also, most notably, she made headlines in 2026 Sundance Film Festival while wearing an ice out pin and speaking against the federal immigration enforcement that stated she felt ashamed to be an American regarding government border policies.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so she redeemed herself.

SPEAKER_00

To me at least. Yeah, I guess 2023, maybe we didn't know what the fuck we were doing, but then it was you know, there was a lot of there's a lot of misinformation on the internet.

SPEAKER_01

In general. There's a lot of misinformation everywhere. Like sometimes you just gotta get some people are too quick to say things and then they gotta backtrack it.

SPEAKER_00

But you know, they were also being fed a lot of propaganda.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

American propaganda.

SPEAKER_01

I was literally just talking, so the girls at Book Club had they brought all the all of their kids for different reasons, which it was so much fun. I loved it. The girls had fun, we played and on the playground, and it was cute. But they had like the 4th of July Memorial Day, like mini muffins that I had bought for little bites, and I was like, you know, I hate the propaganda, but there's something about that, and then the uncrestables that they did, which I'm hoping you know was 4th of July.

SPEAKER_00

And then we line them at public. I love a gimmick. Yeah, I love it. I love a gimmick.

SPEAKER_01

I don't like propaganda, but I love a gimmick. It's so good. Like, I'm not even really that mad about it. Should we talk about? You know, we really should talk about how I'm proud to be a Verizon customer because they used Stephen Kalen in their new plan commercial, which is we can talk about choice.

SPEAKER_00

Nope, because they did it with Connor Stories.

unknown

Did they?

SPEAKER_00

I don't remember this. I know I came in and I was like, you definitely showed it to me, but I just can't like well. I also sent you that screenshot that it was like, if I ever, if you ever told me, like if I had two nickels for um a blonde boy that came out of nowhere and then did some twin audios, and then did the Verizon. Two nickels. I have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but but it's weird that it happened twice. Yes, but yeah, they Connor Story did it. Like he just he's just happening to follow Connor Story's line right now. That's I guess what they're wanting to do. Yes, Connor Story did it first. That was a good one. I didn't see his whole commercial. I did watch all of Connor's commercial.

SPEAKER_01

I watched the whole thing. I said, well, let me bestow my my vision upon this blonde man propaganda. Let me continue. I feel like the blonde man propaganda is definitely like bleeding into my real life now. Uh, yes. With with the dating scene, which has never happened because I, from eight years old on, have always had a crush on celebrities who are dark haired and brown eyes. Which in real life he is.

SPEAKER_00

He is a brunette.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, you're not wrong. So realistically, I'm still following the path I'm meant to be on. But I don't think that some of the blonde men on Hinge are brunettes in IRL. IRL. Um, unfortunately, it's just, you know, straight up blonde man propaganda at this point. I love me. Blonde hair, blue eyes. No, that wasn't my bag. So I've never dated a blonde. I've only ever dated men who with dark hair.

SPEAKER_00

I guess Daniel's a blonde, isn't he?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I guess. He's got really light hair. You know, it's funny, his hair is kind of like the light brown that my natural hair is, but nobody will ever see it because I refuse to not dye my hair red.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Same. Everybody's like, oh, you're Natural redhead, and I was like, I've had people on my sure. If you can see my roots, so can I.

SPEAKER_00

So very dark brown hair.

SPEAKER_01

Mine's like a light, they call it mushroom brown. And I only know that because I I went back to my natural color like right after 2020. Because I was blonde in 2020.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad we all kind of just have the same where like we're like, let me be blonde. I try to go blonde. I went, I went platinum blonde.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. Like platinum blonde. And mistakes were made because I couldn't lay off the purple shampoo. So and then I was in the water during the summer, and my hair was teal in the middle, like between my roots by the time that she was like, it's a little green. My mom one night was like, um, is your hair supposed to look like that? Tinted, and I was like, probably not. I really need to go get it dyed. So I went back to my quote unquote original hair color, which is like they called it mushroom brown. It's just a really light, almost like dingy brown kind of. It's it's not my like least favorite by any means. I like my natural hair color.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I definitely enjoy being a redhead more.

SPEAKER_00

I try try to go blonde. I ended up my friend did it. Oh we've all had that. Before yeah, before she went to beauty school, um Jesus. Um I ended up like strawberry blonde, but not in like a good way.

SPEAKER_01

I do like a strawberry blonde.

SPEAKER_00

Not in a good way. Hold on. I think I can get to it. I don't want to import it.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I'd like to ding ding. I don't know, I can't picture you as your hair's so dark, I can't picture you as a blonde.

SPEAKER_00

It was not good. Let's see. Here's the start of it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's like we're getting we're getting lighter.

unknown

That's another.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. There's my roots for going in. I can't. That's I don't know her. I don't know her. Oh, there we go. That's and I was so tanty. Oh fuck. That was yeah, that was 2020. Because Hannah's brother made a comment.

SPEAKER_00

Right after she did it. Atrocious.

SPEAKER_01

Because Hannah's brother made the comment last time. He hasn't seen me in six years. Yeah. And he goes, Oh my gosh, you're not a blonde anymore. I was like, that is the last time you saw me, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

I have not been a blonde anymore.

SPEAKER_01

He's like, the red works better. I was like, it really does. It does.

SPEAKER_00

It just makes more sense. I was talking to Paige, my hairdresser. Last time she was, but you want to change it? I was like, do you think we should? She was. No. Like I've known you, like I've known Paige since she was like 15. And she goes, and I've known you this long, but I should only ever see you as a redhead. And I was like, oh okay. But yes, me and Morgan Ashton have pretty close the same color. We really do.

SPEAKER_01

It's kind of funny. Like we look that was not planned. No. I just like the cherry cola vibes. I feel like this raspberry color. Like I said, I'd do it one more time because I just dyed it before the party, and I was like, after that, I'm gonna go back to the darker like burgundy I was using. The purpley vibes. It's just harder to keep up with when it's this like you know what I'm talking about. When it's like almost this manufactured, quote unquote. Like when it's so like pigmented. Yeah. Like it bleeds like when I was sweating outside this weekend and you're like your hair dye is running. Let me help you, dog. You dog, let me help you. Yeah, it was a hot one this weekend. It was disgustingly hot. Disgustingly hot. I showered so much over the weekend. I didn't wash my hair until last night. I just left it. I was like, I'm gonna sweat anyways while I wash my hair. But you know what? 10 out of 10 weekend. It was a good time. That was a good time. Are we are we reading anything this next week? Have we determined we're just kind of going off vibes? I know we talked about icebreaker.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, we were supposed to read that this week.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe we'll continue let's because I do want to actually try and read the last one in the series. Which one? The last one is Daydream. You'd have to read Icebreaker and technically you don't, but like I like the introduction to Henry in Icebreaker and Wildfire. I love Henry so much. But I do want to get back into reread the first one and then go back and I do I do want to read it.

SPEAKER_00

It's in my it's in my like I got it on my library in Kindle, and then I also Especially because it's about to be a sh show or movie.

SPEAKER_01

Netflix has a hold of it.

SPEAKER_00

That's all I know. And then I found it in my Audible, so I'm pretty sure I listened to it. I just do not remember it. But I've also heard a lot of people shitting on it online.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I want to reread it and be like, is it one of those books that's gonna be the Arena Ken incident where it doesn't stand up for the test of time? Or she's dropping stuff, or is it gonna be actually better than people make it out to be? Because I liked it the first time. I remember, I loved it. I was like, ooh, there's gonna be a second one. And is he is it gonna be Henry's book? I love Henry. And I don't know, I'm kind of curious. So I think we'll stick let's stick with that. Let's try in next episode. Hopefully, pending we don't have another weekend like this weekend. Oh, I will because I have a bachelor.

SPEAKER_00

We have 4th of July coming up.

SPEAKER_01

I have a fucking pissed about that.

SPEAKER_00

You are so sorry, Katie. I know you listen. I'm still gonna have a fun time at your bachelorette party. I have Akon, and he's playing locked up. So I will be. But yes, you have Acon. I have the bachelor party. And then I think finally after that is I'm done. Slows down. Back to school. Oh my god. I'm not ready for that. This is something. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I did. We were doing a lot.

SPEAKER_00

And I still feel like we haven't done shit.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty much, yeah. Well. I think I think we've rambled on long enough for you guys. Oh wait, what's we had talked about.

SPEAKER_00

Oh fuck, I lost my pin! Not the pin! You've talked about what? Changing the date on when we release. Right now we release it on Wednesdays.

SPEAKER_01

I think I think a Friday would be because the way we operate, we get back from the weekend and we're like, oh no, brother.

SPEAKER_00

We're busting the Morton's office, like, are you doing anything today? Like, we need to record.

SPEAKER_01

And here we are, rambling for your ears to enjoy. And they're probably like, another throwaway, but these bitches don't do shit. No, we don't. We we are we're just girls. We it's been a busy day. Somebody got fired. Like there was drama left over from the weekend that we weren't involved in, but we love mess, and so do some of the other people we work with. Huh.

SPEAKER_00

Interesting. What's interesting? I just Googled it, and it says the best day to release a podcast are Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. We're gonna do Thursday. Publishing on these midday early morning slots allow your episodes to appear in listeners' daily feeds right before the peak listening periods. Hmm. So maybe the noon one wasn't the best. Like morning commutes or work days.

SPEAKER_01

Well, so should we try early morning Wednesdays?

SPEAKER_00

These are historically strong.

SPEAKER_01

Tuesday, early mornings.

SPEAKER_00

Tuesday and Wednesday are historically the strongest days for initial listeners and downloads as people are well into their work week routine. Which is good. Or we just maybe we can do it earlier. Yeah. Because I right now we do it, we release it at noon.

SPEAKER_01

We just need to be on our on our A game. We just gotta get there.

SPEAKER_00

Just bear with us. We're buckling. What we really need to do is just hit a butcher. We need to hit a stride. Yeah, like when we were forced to do that for your uh vacation.

SPEAKER_01

We have like three episodes. Guys, I think we're gonna hit a stride, okay? Don't quote us on it. We're gonna hit a stride. I've got an idea. I'm coming up with a plan. Okay. I'm gonna make a PowerPoint and everything reason.

SPEAKER_00

I want a whiteboard with string.

SPEAKER_01

You want a whiteboard with string? I can't promise you one, but I will make a book too.

SPEAKER_00

And it will be awesome. About why we should read some of these other books?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

I'm just gonna start coming up with We have a whole list of books. I have a whole library full of books. Like before we started, we had like made a whole list of things we've got Oh, these are the ones we want to talk about.

SPEAKER_01

These are the ones we like.

SPEAKER_00

Like I really want to read.

SPEAKER_01

I think I still have it.

SPEAKER_00

Songs of Achilles, but I don't want to be sad.

SPEAKER_01

I am not ready for that. I'm not in the mood for a I need a fun. I've been wanting to read it for a fun hee-hee ha. I need to stop saying hee hee ha ha book because that's how I get into these predicaments.

SPEAKER_00

I guess we should read your F1. What is it called? That's a great question.

SPEAKER_01

Oh good. It is called There's a fee. I just downloaded two actually. So that one's called Upgraded by Abby Millseps. And the other one I just grabbed is called Off Limits by Lucy Cameron. And I think that's kind of that one. Did I start that one? Maybe. I think I opened a page or two and I was like, okay, cute concept. I think she's uh in the off limits, she's a campus or uh campus. She's a reporter.

SPEAKER_00

An ex-boyfriend's dad. Yeah, an ex-boyfriend's dad, age gap romance, people. You're not one to really like age gaps.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I'm not. It just depends. If the age gap is icky, like it kind of depends.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I am ready for SJ Sylvas' new book. I so am too, but I think it's I think it's officially out in April.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think we have like a whole year.

SPEAKER_01

I'm depressed. SJ, if you're listening, please.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yes, please put us on your PR list.

SPEAKER_01

Please put us on your PR list, Moscow. Please release the book. We love it so much. I think I thought about that today actually. I was like, SJ, please. I want to read it so bad.

SPEAKER_00

I should probably look at our Gmail. I have not looked at that.

SPEAKER_01

We've got emails from people.

SPEAKER_00

Booked and busy.

SPEAKER_01

Booked and busy. There's like no emails in there. All of a sudden it's empty. The lights are off, no one's on. Oh no, they just billed me. Not the billing. Oh, why did that fail?

SPEAKER_00

Whoopsies. Oopsies. Until this problem is fixed, this episode will not be uploaded to YouTube. Oh fucking sweet. Oh, YouTube? The goal in the store. Oh shit. Oh. June 18th.

SPEAKER_01

Oh damn. We gotta start checking our email.

SPEAKER_00

I really need to start checking our email.

SPEAKER_01

They only didn't I check my work email more than my actual email.

SPEAKER_00

Same. We have a lot of like Valentine PR stuff. But I don't know how we actually get the boats. They make us like you just want me to.

SPEAKER_01

I need to go back to doing net galley stuff. I really kind of dropped the ball on that, and that sucks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I think that concludes our ramble. Our ramble sesh for this week. Hold tight. We are coming into a book stride. I've got a plan. It'll be great. Got a plan. I don't want to. Just have faith in us, guys. It's gonna be great.
