What if the Fall of Adam and Eve wasn’t a mistake… but a necessary step forward?

In this episode, we explore a different lens—one that shifts the Fall from something to fear, to something to understand. Not as a failure, but as part of a divine design.

The Fall wasn’t just a step away from God.
It was the beginning of the journey back to Him.

If you’ve ever wrestled with questions about purpose, growth, or why life includes struggle, this conversation will invite you to see it all differently.

Have Understanding. Be Believing. Live Extraordinary.

Welcome back, friends, to Hubble Life, where we learn to see things through a different lens. What if the most misunderstood story in history is actually your story? Last week we talked about the creation of the earth and how amazing it is, and the things that we enjoy here are the things that we love. Today we're going to talk a little bit about Adam and Eve. They weren't just the first people placed on the earth, they were the first people to start the journey of becoming. Becoming more like God. And their story, it's not a mistake. It's a new beginning. Most of us have grown up hearing the story of Adam and Eve in very specific ways. We know that they were placed in the garden, they learned, they grew, they were taught. And then we hear about Lucifer coming and tempting them and drawing them away. And we hear this story maybe about disobedience, about a mistake that was made or a wrong choice, maybe that something went wrong. And that's not it. Sometimes we view the fall as a failure. Like the plan didn't go the way that it was supposed to. And we just know that's not true. This is the plan. That needed to happen. So what would have happened if nothing went wrong? Well, they would have still been in the Garden of Eden. And we would not be here. So everything unfolded the way that it needed to. What if the fall wasn't a failure? But it was part of the plan. The very beginning of it. Because here's the thing: the garden, as beautiful as it was, and as amazing as it was, and and it brought forth fruit and all the things that they needed, and there was there wasn't weeds, and there wasn't all of the noxious things of this world, but then there also wouldn't have been growth. The garden wasn't the final destination. And while they lived there, Adam and Eve lived in a state of innocence. There wasn't even any opposition, but there was also no growth because of that. They were stagnant. They were alive, but yet they weren't really living the kind of life that leads to transformation. And yes, the garden was beautiful, but it was never meant to be the ending point. That's not where they needed to stop. It was actually the launching point. It was the beginning. And at some point, a choice had to be made. Do we stay in comfort or do we step into something more? And they had to make that decision. And that's exactly what Adam and Eve did. They made the first and perhaps the most important choice in human history. They chose to grow, to experience, they chose knowledge, and they chose to step into a world that they could become something more. They were about as far as they could go where they were. So by partaking of the fruit, it changed their life, it changed the earth, it changed the trajectory of things. And for one from one perspective, that might look like a loss. Because now there would be a separation from God. They would be leaving behind something that was perfect and beautiful and never had anything hard happening. But from another perspective, maybe even a higher perspective, it was the very first step that made everything else possible. Now they would be able to have children. Yes, the fall was a step down from God. They had been able to have contact with him all the time and be taught by him. And so, yes, this would take them away from him. It was a step down, but it was also a step forward to becoming more like him. And they needed that. Without that step, there would be no progression. There wouldn't be any learning, and there actually wouldn't even be any joy. Because as we read in scripture, Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy. The fall had to happen in order to have joy, true joy. Not sorrow, not failure, joy. We are not meant to just have sorrow and feel like failures all the time. We are meant to have joy, and the fall was part of that plan. The fall wasn't a punishment, it was about possibilities. And yes, there were some things that were going to be different in their life, but they also knew that opposition needed to be part of the plan. It always was. Suddenly there was pain, suddenly there was struggle, and there was also uncertainty. Life became harder, but it also became richer because of that. Now there was a contrast. Because before, without that, joy was never really fully felt. They didn't know pain, so they didn't know joy. They didn't know sorrow or joy, they didn't know the difference between light and darkness. Without the other, you don't recognize there has to be that opposition. You don't appreciate growth unless you've had resistance. So what if the hard things in your life aren't evidence that there's something wrong? What if they are evidence that your story has truly begun? And here's the thing: it's always messy in the middle. We can have things start out pretty good and we know where we want it to end, and in the middle it's messy. It's just the way life is. Sometimes we feel like maybe we have taken a step backward. But it's actually a step forward in God's plan. So maybe your story is right where it needs to be. So sometimes, like the fall, um just like the fall, sometimes the descent is way what makes the ascent possible. It puts us into positions where maybe we strive to do something different. This is your story. The fall is all about your story, it's about humans and our experience here. And here's where it becomes personal because it isn't just Adam and Eve's story, it's all of ours. We all we all left a place of peace to come here. We came into a world of uncertainty, we came into a world of opposition, and we came into a world of growth. Why? Because we are each one of us are here to become, to become more like our Heavenly Father. We're here to learn, we're here to choose and to grow into something greater than we were before. It could never happen unless we did this. This is part of what will make us and help us to become who we need to be. So, what does that mean? So when life feels hard, and when things are not going the way that you expected, and that happens really to everybody, there are times in every one of our lives where things are not going the way that we hoped. Things show up out of the blue, a loss of a loved one, a loss of a job, or health, or maybe things are just going wrong, or our kids are choosing different things. It doesn't mean that you're failing. It might just mean that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. And just like Adam and Eve, you're in the middle. We are all in the messy middle of becoming. Adam and Eve didn't ruin the plan. They started the plan. It began with them. The fall was a step down from God, but it was also a step forward toward becoming just like Him. We needed these experiences, and we needed to be able to choose right from wrong, light from darkness, and we had to have a place where we could see the difference between those two and make the right choices. And so it's true for each of us that yes, we're in the middle, and it's kind of messy, and sometimes there's moments that feel like they're setbacks, but maybe those are actually the very things that are shaping us into who we're meant to become. Because all of us learn from hard. And we feel joy because of that. This isn't just their story, it's yours. It's mine. And so this next week is we maybe consider the messy middle that you're in and what that's doing. And maybe instead of being discouraged, look at it through a different lens. That this is all giving you an experience. An experience to become who you're meant to become. That it is all part of the plan, and that maybe you're exactly where you need to be. It's okay. And as we have understanding, be believing, and live extraordinary and see life through a new lens, then we can start to move forward and become more and more like our Heavenly Father. I'll see you next time.
