Professional stuff.
SPEAKER_02Welcome back to No Pun Intended episode 10. Summer's over and football is finally back, babies.
SPEAKER_03Yes. So happy today. We have all kinds of fun stuff, including LSU's debut, but we'll talk about that later. Basically, we're so pumped to be here. We're officially in the Burr months. Not to be confused with Joe Burr, because it's also his months as well.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Look, I'm so glad we are back talking about all of the things that we love, and we are making our podcast football season debut.
SPEAKER_02Thanks for sticking with us.
SPEAKER_01We're bringing the facts straight to you. The highs and lows, and hopefully more highs this season and lows. So let's get into it.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I got us some rapid fire questions. Are y'all ready? I didn't share them with anybody this time. Oh, I thought they were gonna be Ed James again. No, they're for you guys, and I'll just jump in. Okay, we're gonna start with a few college football specifics and then we're gonna move into the NFL.
SPEAKER_05I'm nervous.
SPEAKER_02Okay. All right. Last this weekend, Michigan versus Western Michigan, putting the one second back on. What are our thoughts?
SPEAKER_03Um, I think Western Michigan got screwed. I agree. I think they did as well, and I think womp womp for Michigan. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I also thought like two Hail Marys in a row. That's crazy. I mean, I mean you gotta do what you gotta do. Okay. This is where it's about to get spicy. Who wins the SEC? Oh, it's you.
SPEAKER_03Texas. I'm not even answering this one. Why? You couldn't have watched that debut and thought, oh, Texas played Texas State. They're so good.
SPEAKER_01I didn't say that. I think Clemson is a lot worse than people think.
SPEAKER_03I think Clemson is really bad as well. But I also think we made them look bad. Come to the belly for nothing.
SPEAKER_01I don't disagree.
SPEAKER_03I'll be happy if both teams are in. Agreed. I think that both of them will be for playoff. I think it's gonna be a fun season. I agree.
unknownAlright.
SPEAKER_05So much fun.
SPEAKER_02Which for college football, which coach is under the most pressure this year? Oh link. Yeah, I agree with that. I do. That was kind of a old Starks.
SPEAKER_01I like Starks under some pressure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um I said Stark, like Tony Stark. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Iron Man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I mean it's a half-to-win for him.
SPEAKER_01I think so. Yeah. I think he's true.
SPEAKER_02Okay, this one's hard, but has been picked right now. You had to pick. I know who Jane's going with.
SPEAKER_01Uh no. Um don't think so. I think uh right now, Tony from Miami. 220-something yards receiving.
SPEAKER_03I know this is predictable of me, but I was very impressed with Sam Level of it. Joe 2.0. Joe 2.0. He was scrambling. He had 220 yards. I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_01I thought Sam Level was also played really well.
SPEAKER_03I do too. If he'll just keep it up.
SPEAKER_04I don't really have an answer for that one.
SPEAKER_02So I'll just go with Arch. Oh, Arch. Okay. Okay, we're going to shift into the NFL. Super Bowl winner as of right now before we start. Bangles. Bangles. Yeah. Yeah. We can all agree on that. Okay. Uh MVP. Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow. If he stays healthy, it's going to be Joe Allen. Oh. Easy. Not Josh Allen.
SPEAKER_03Offensive player of the year tomorrow. I like it. We're going to revert back to this towards the end of the season.
SPEAKER_02QB, you want with the ball, down two with one minute left. Joe. Joe Burr. Oh my gosh. Okay. Okay, guys, if you didn't know, here we are. I know what one we will not answer here. Best defense. The Rams. Rams. Rams. Maybe we'll be better.
SPEAKER_04Like the pick they picked up. Gummit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Aaron Donald.
SPEAKER_04And then Aaron Donald. And then Miles Gary. Good lord.
SPEAKER_01Two are probably the best five defensive linemen in history. On the same team at the same time.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I think they're both a little jealous. Towards the end of their careers, but I think either one of those dudes a half step slower than what they used to be is still better than 90% of the NFL.
SPEAKER_02Well said. Alright. Best best rivalry in the NFL. I think Cowboys and Needles. Cowboys and Eagles.
SPEAKER_03I think we're rivaling. We were with the Chiefs for a while, but they're insignificant to me.
SPEAKER_04I think it's worked like the Ravens now. Yeah. For us.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'll then you can't roll out the bear.
SPEAKER_01I also think Chicago's a bit raw rooted.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's a good one. I'm rooting for the bears this year.
SPEAKER_01Oh no.
SPEAKER_02I mean, not when we're playing, you know, but other things. Alright, these are just some fun ones. Um, favorite game day food. Oh, gumbo. Gumbo. She's made my heart happy.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. I like the charcuterie board. Every board. Yeah, we're gonna have to have all the things that we do every Sunday.
SPEAKER_02James, what do you think?
SPEAKER_01Uh let's just eat.
SPEAKER_02Hot dogs.
SPEAKER_01Hot dogs are good.
SPEAKER_02Hot dogs. In foil. Yeah. Okay, most annoying fan base. Chiefs. Chiefs. Except for I don't know now. Like they're pretty good.
SPEAKER_03Kind of quiet right now, aren't they?
SPEAKER_01Because the bandwagon fans have jumped off.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Well they'll go back to the cowboys, back to the Redskins, probably. I don't think we can call them the Redskins. I still do.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Commanders? Commanders makes us talk about Washington. Jay pissed on Daniel. Yes, Jay Boo. They hate him now.
SPEAKER_03Like, so they did the promo video because I watched the SEC network from sun up to sundown. Um, I flipped to the tech game one time. Um, but they did the NFL LSU video and had everyone on there, not Jake Daniels wasn't in there at all. And I applauded it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03JJ was in the house. I saw that. Yeah, that was cool.
SPEAKER_02Landy Wilson, yeah, big time. She had number nine on, she had Seth Wilson on the back online. Get over here. Well, we're ready to start talking about some football. So James is gonna start us with some uh college football updates, surprises, upsets, and some questionable things going on by LSU.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, one of the big stories this weekend is uh all around LSU and the fact that they are trying to resign or recruit or whatever you want to say, um, players who had opted out, had gone to the draft, went undrafted. Both of these guys went undrafted, but signed with NFL teams, signed contracts. Uh, one was Daquan Wright, tied in for the Philadelphia Eagles, and then he was picked up by the Browns, and then he was waived. And then Xanyo Harris, if he was a lineman, who was picked up by the Saints and then also waived. Um, tried to come back and play another year of college football. And the whole deal is the NIL, you know, pre before this that would have been an impossibility, but now players can sign contracts, they have agents while they're in college, and so it opens up again. This is a Pandora's box that NIL has opened up. And I don't blame you and Langivon for trying to do it. It wouldn't like it if it wasn't us, but it's it's a loophole.
SPEAKER_02It is, I mean, use a loophole. Fair game.
SPEAKER_01So, but uh Louisiana judge uh granted them eligibility, but then SEC sued LSU and so why uh to prevent former NFL players from playing college football.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was the former, like that's a loose term. They never played a snap.
SPEAKER_03They never yeah, and my thing is like we let retired NFL people come back and play. Like, how is that any different? Yeah, in the NFL. In the NFL, yeah. But I'm saying, like, if they still have eligibility, I'll see what I think.
SPEAKER_01But you're also looking at like if you allow this, then how many players left early, went to the NFL, still have a year of eligibility? Now that they're into their NFL career, and they could go, hey, I've played 10 seasons in the NFL. Now I'm gonna go sign and play one more year of college football and get a big NIL deal and run.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's just one thing that a group of men didn't think about before they put something in act.
SPEAKER_03I think NIL killed it. I think the NIL was not a good thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We've yeah, we've talked about that.
SPEAKER_01It's just it's gonna be one of those things that's gonna continuously have to be tweaked and everything else because of this. And so well, what wound up happening was LSU left those two players off their 105-man roster because that's what you got in college football and went into the game with 103, but uh I think that was enough, obviously.
SPEAKER_02Clearly, did you see his um halftime when he was running in the locker room and they were talking to him and they were like, How you feeling? Whatever, and he was talking as he was running off. He was like, Imagine if we had NFO players.
SPEAKER_01So and I've going back to when Lane was at Tennessee and bailed on him and went to USC. I was not a huge fan. I do think he's a great football coach. I mean, I don't there's no doubt about that. I mean, he wins wherever he goes, but I mean I just think there's some shady things that happen along the way.
SPEAKER_03And so is he morally corrupt a little? Um then he belongs right there, he's in batteries. He is welcome you.
SPEAKER_01I don't think there are very many of them out there who aren't. I don't get to that position if you're not a little you know shady. So it is what it is. Um we planned on talking about upsets. There really weren't any big upsets this weekend, but there were some big time scares. Uh in fact, it was a pretty boring college football weekend overall because there were so many blocks out of games.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh a lot of highly ranked teams playing some very subpar teams. Um, but there were some scares. Oregon and Boise State, you know, went down to the wire. Boise State led the game a few times, and Oregon didn't look like a number two team in the nation in that game. And then, of course, the whole Michigan, Western Michigan. Yeah. And my whole deal is if you're a top-tier team and you're getting beat by a team that has a direction in their name, then uh there's something wrong with it.
SPEAKER_02So are we saying that the SEC is more powerful than the Big Ten? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh I would say. Right now, probably. I mean, of course you still got, yeah. But I mean, in the end, like, you know, obviously both those teams escaped with wins, and so you know, they regroup, and I I do think Oregon is real good. I think Oregon's probably gonna make a run and be one of a potential playoff team, but and always with the coolest uniforms, yeah. But I will say this the uniform game of the week was, and I hate this, because I hate this school fashion, but Notre Dame, Wisconsin. Oh, okay where they had the the metallic numbers, both teams had the metallic numbers on their uniforms and had all the metallic on their helmet that they were clean. Sharp.
SPEAKER_02But we're also big traditionalists, like we like the same look, same plane. Every year they're gonna wear it. I love that. Any big transfers that we need to?
SPEAKER_01So I think probably I mean, obviously, the number one transfer in the nation was Sam Lovitt, and I'm gonna be honest, he lived up to the hype. Um, I don't think Clemson is as good as they even thought they were gonna be. I think Clemson's gonna struggle.
SPEAKER_05That was rough. They have to be a good thing.
SPEAKER_01I think Garrow's job is that he might be the one on the hot seat more than anybody because they're not gonna fare well in the way they played the other night. And but I thought Sam Levitt looked really good. Um, Cam Coleman, and obviously I'm particularly this one, but Cam Coleman, receiver coming over to Texas, uh, he didn't have humongous stats, um, but he opens the field up for uh other players. And so again, they were playing Texas State, so you know your measure and stick there isn't very good. Yeah, but uh he had a good day, and then I think uh Mastermaker, true Mastermaker that came from North Texas and went to Oklahoma State, even though they lost, I think they were outmatched by Houston. I think they've got some ways to go to get to where they want to be. But I watched that game and I thought he did some good things and looked really good.
SPEAKER_05He's a quarterback, right?
SPEAKER_01And uh, you know, he was a quarterback UNT and they made a good run last year. Yeah, that staff and they brought a lot of UNT players with them, him being one of them, and so I think making the jump to be tied to a bigger level of college football and having to play on the bigger stage. Um still think he fared well and looked pretty good.
SPEAKER_02So I was um really hoping my under God bet would pull through a vote on the on the ladder at Texas AM against SFA, and I did not like that. It didn't go well.
SPEAKER_01So it wasn't a good betting weekend. That was way too many lots out of changes.
SPEAKER_02You don't know how they're gonna it's always a good betting weekend. I mean I've been a lot. Well, we're excited. There's nothing better than waking up, college college football. Yeah, just the best. And then Sunday next week we're back and we get to come back together. It's gonna be awesome. All right. Casey, you want to give us the lowdown and love that you have for the game against Clemson? We've got so it was just a little.
SPEAKER_03Um, it was everything I hoped it would be and more except for the first 10 seconds of the game, which made me a wee bit nauseous. Um not as nauseous as I think Lynn Kiffin was because if he heard him at half time, he was like, oh, like so mad about it, which I concur. Um, not a good thing. I thought defensively LSG looked really good, um, which I was pleasantly surprised at. Um but again, Clemson didn't look so hot offensively. Um I feel like they really kind of struggled a little bit. Uh I did bet that we would have less than 50 points, and they beat me on that, and I wasn't sad about it because I also bet that we won. So that's fine. Uh LSU had 644 total offensive yards against Sam Levitt, 220 yards, and so many scrambles, he was so fast, so good. I loved watching him. He did look like a little Joe out there. Um Watkins Jr. kind of came out. He had more than you know, Trey Des Green has gotten so much hype in the offseason. He gets to wear like the number seven with Whit Weeks, which is a big deal for LSU. But but Watkins came out and had. Yeah, we had Watkins Jr., he had seven receptions, 110 receiving yards. He really showed out and did really well. Uh Dylan Jones, running back, big deal, really liked him. Um, I thought he was huge in the game. He rushed for 113 yards, had two touchdowns. Um, and as Stan corrected, Sam Lovett had 230 yards, not 220. Um, he was 16 for 28, one touchdown pass, one interception at the beginning of the game, and uh 12 carries for 113 rush yards each way. So beautiful to watch. Um, I did love that. And then defensively had Jordan Ross on the edge. He returned an interception for 30 yards back. That was fun to watch. It looks like our defense was all over the top. Whitwigs, of course, I think he's great. He had a lot of pressure, and it was just a lovely showing. The only thing I didn't get to see was Kojo. I think it didn't. I wonder if that was part of it, like intentionally kind of. We didn't want to take away from Lane. I get it. Whatever. But was he on the sidelines or in the box? I don't know because I never saw him on the sidelines. I was saying 100%. Yeah, he might have been in the parking lot tailgating. But yeah, it was a fun day. They were got a two-hour rain delay, so I pushed them back. And I saw this one thing where they were like, Oh, these people got up super early for gang day, stood out there and have day drink all day. And I was like, You couldn't have picked a better school. These people are seasoned from birth.
SPEAKER_01So I was like, How drunk are they? Not that they wouldn't be anyway, but now they've got an extra two hours. Extra two hours.
SPEAKER_03She just stood there in the rain. One of my friends was actually there, and she said the electricity was it was a sold-out 103,000 of your best friends sitting beside you. And Link Kidden's big deal this year is he let the black band play Ned. I know, I saw that. So they played it probably more than they should, but they took those fans and we'll move on with it. Theo Vaughn was there. Theo Vaughn was there. That was playing. I was like, that was funny, you know. That was fun. There's a ton of stars there. It's like the Matthew McConnell of LSU.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he truly is. That's awesome. All right, well, looking forward to watching LSU in Texas this year. Yes, it's gonna be a good one. Um, Mama is gonna talk to us about NFL preview. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So do we want to start with y'all want to start with the NFL predictions or do we want to talk about the Bengals roster? Let's do predictions. You do the predictions. Okay, don't get mad and don't come at me, okay? I didn't make this stuff up. All right, so the preseason division favorites for the AFC East, we have the Bills, and their main challenger is gonna be the Patriots. Yep. Um, AFC North, the Ravens. Oh, I knew that was coming. With the biggest challenger being the Bengals.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's okay. We're gonna prove them.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Um AFC South, the Texans.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04And their biggest challenger is the Jaguars. Really? That's what this does. This is not me. Um, the next one, this one I was like, is AFC West. They predict the Chiefs, of course. And then the biggest challengers are the Chargers and the Broncos. I think both of those teams are probably better. I think they just always pick Kansas City no matter what, you know? I think the Broncos are gonna be pretty good. Yeah, yeah. Um NFC East, we have the Eagles as the favorite, with the Cowboys being the main challenger. It's gonna be a great year. Um NFC North, the Lions, with the Packers and the Bears being the biggest challengers for that one. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And then the NFC South, the Buccaneers, and this has James will be like, okay, the Saints and the Panthers being the biggest challengers. Don't sleep on Saints.
SPEAKER_01I hate it. But don't sleep on the Saints. They made some moves and their active, yeah. Well, I mean, but plus they're hard. Well, they had some draft picks, but they did some things this offseason to make them better. Like, don't sleep on them.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Um, and then for our NFC West, they have, of course, the Rams as the favorites with the Seahawks and the 49ers being the biggest challengers on that. Um they're all pretty solid. Yes, except for the Ravens Bengals one, but we'll figure out. Yes. So um wrong for the Super Bowl prediction. Okay. They have the Rams in it, basically, no matter what. They really have the Rams. And then we've got two analysts have picked the Bills to also be in it. Okay. Two have picked the Broncos, and then we have our Bengals that are next. Woo! Okay. The Bengals, the Ravens, the Chargers, and the Texans.
SPEAKER_02If we can just stay healthy and stay what we need to do, not do those little stupid slant passes, then we're gonna be alright. Oh, it's more slant.
SPEAKER_04Well, he'll get more tackles if our defense isn't better, so um there are a couple more predictions that we are going to like. Um, NFL Networks Nick Shook predicts the Rams versus Bengals Super Bowl. That's what the colors show. And then another NFL Um.com analyst predicts the Bengals versus Rams, and he has the Bengals winning the Super Bowl. Let's go. So there are several analysts that have the Rams and the Bengals in the Super Bowl this year.
SPEAKER_02I know that we say this every year that we're gonna win the Super Bowl, but I'm like being serious. There's a different feeling. There's a different feeling.
SPEAKER_03I do.
SPEAKER_02Sexy Dexie. Everybody doing it. I'm so excited for next week. Uh a kid passed me in the hallway this week and was like, hey Coach Villan, how are the how are you feeling about the Bengals? I was like, great, we're gonna win the Super Bowl, and he laughed in my face. And I'm like, one of these days, y'all, I'm gonna be right. So it's right. Here we are. Tis the season. Tis the season. Tis it.
SPEAKER_04So what do we think about um all those predictions? Do we agree? Do we disagree? I think those are pretty good.
SPEAKER_03I I just I disagree. Except for the cheese one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I think they're always in there no matter what. I mean, Patrick's still questionable.
SPEAKER_02Is he even gonna play the first game?
SPEAKER_04I have not even looked into that. I try not to look into it. I think um I was bummed they picked the Ravens for our division.
SPEAKER_03Um I think he gives us something to work for.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I do too. I do too. I mean the Ravens are good, you know, but it's because the last time we played them, it was the worst game of history, but we were there.
SPEAKER_04It's fine where we lived at.
SPEAKER_02Two degrees. It was two degrees. Yeah. In our hearts as well. Um what about our roster?
SPEAKER_04Okay, so we had some surprising cuts, I would say. Um Cody Ford was cut. And by the way, were we so were we surprised maybe, but we're also like, heh, like you sucked anyways. I was so sick of watching. I can't believe we lasted this long with Cody Ford.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't know why he wasn't cut last year.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Um, Mike Tinsley was another one that he was he did do good for us last year, but I understand with the wide receivers that we brought on this year.
SPEAKER_01It's a solid wide receiver.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we've got a really good wide receiver room.
SPEAKER_02But I thought he was good, and I think he's gonna be really good. So it makes me nervous. Like he'll get picked up.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um Charlie Jones got cut. He was our kick returner. Oh, I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_01I sent the text message out.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah. Oh, I saw that. Yes, yes, okay. Um, those were the three that I found like the most shocking, I guess, for the cuts. And then um for the ones that of course made the roster, uh, Dante Myers, who really showed out um wide receiver. I like this kid a lot. Keyshawn Williams.
SPEAKER_01I like his story too, like just coming from small town, small school, and playing uh Canadian football and then making his way to an NFL roster. Yeah, that's cool.
SPEAKER_04Um, and then Kobe Young made the roster as well as a wide receiver. Like I said, our wide receiver Ruman was very excited about. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was excited when we drafted Kobe Young. I thought he was a steal at that spot, got him in the four for a round, I think. Um I think if he stayed again, it's always I always feel like we're always talking about if guys stay healthy. Yeah, if he would have stayed healthy in college, he probably wouldn't have been a first round wide receiver.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because he's got all the dimensions, you know, 6'4 or 2'10 or whatever, and like wins 50-50 balls. But yeah, I was excited about him when they drafted him.
SPEAKER_04So uh for our defensive tackle, we got Landon Robinson or tied in Jack Andres. Is that his name? Uh oh from Texas. Yeah, from Texas. Whatever. Anyways, uh Swayze Bozeman as at linebacker. It's a pretty cool name. Don't you like that name? And then, of course, our biggest additions, which we already know is is Dexy Dexie, Jonathan Allen. We've got some big guys on the team now. I'm pretty excited about. We've got Brian Cook from the Chiefs. Be able to do what's right.
SPEAKER_03Well, and what did you think about a two-quarter map rockster? I know. That's in a little nerve-wracking.
SPEAKER_01Well, most people do.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you keep the third gallon for practice.
SPEAKER_03I think we are nervous.
SPEAKER_02Are nervous. So us only having two, but at least it is Joe Flacco and like we all trust him and respect him.
SPEAKER_01My thought on that was because I thought Josh Johnson played well.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was a good shooting.
SPEAKER_01Well, if they can sign him to the practice squad, don't be surprised if at some point during the season when somebody else loses a quarterback, if we don't trade Joe Flacco. I know him, I know. Just because he's a veteran guy and you know, someone would want a quarterback that could come in and early system, and if we can gain something from it, then he's honestly probably this is it for him anyway. Right.
SPEAKER_02I really liked watching him on quarterback. Yes, I did too. Uh Netflix. He just a solid dude and just cool guy.
SPEAKER_04He reminds me a lot of um uh Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins, yeah. Not as like innocent. Yeah, he'll throw some some curse words out there. Yeah, Kirk does not, but um gosh darn it.
SPEAKER_02Um I also really got and it it shocked me, but felt a different type of way about Baker Mayfield. Me too that I did too, because I hated him before.
SPEAKER_04I'm thinking maybe because he played for OU on the stage, let's be honest.
SPEAKER_03But he's a guy that I wouldn't hate to be on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but yeah. I it it just gave me a different like perspective, yeah. See him in a different line. I think I think that's a cool thing Netflix does for that. For you, it makes you show people. I don't know if they'll ever have that with um I fast forward through Jane Daniels.
SPEAKER_04I could have cared less to win. I did not watch him edit in his mom so much.
SPEAKER_03So bad.
SPEAKER_04My gosh, he's never gonna get a woman. She won't allow it.
SPEAKER_03It's crazy. She won't allow me. So I just fast forward I don't care about him. Sorry. He was never a lackable me. Y'all know how I felt even when he was at LSU. It wasn't. I don't think he deserved the Heinz. The Heinzen? Or the Jazman. No catch-up for you.
SPEAKER_02I also am waiting for the day that they put Lamar Jackson on that series. Was this him old patch? Lamar Jackson. I think he's actually really like probably funny, funny guy, but he is not well spoken like in his interviews and stuff. I'm just like, hmm.
SPEAKER_03Well, he is from another place. But yeah, it was kind of one thing I'm excited about seeing.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully, we can see this, and it's just kind of some talk. So not 100% sure that was happening. But I was a big fan of the Leonard Robinson pick. Uh you know, he's a navy guy, and he's uh you know, they picked him with that with the pick, the pack tone pick, you know, which is really cool. Um but so there's talk, you know, they kept him on the roster because he made plays on defense, but there's also talk of them using him as like a fullback in like short yardage offensive stuff. Okay. And so uh went back and looked, and he had like three carries while he was in college for like 90 yards. Okay, that's impressive. Yeah, so not that that's gonna transfer to them. Um that's not why they wanted to do that. They wanted to let the block, but at the same time, uh, I'm excited about seeing a big 300-pound fullback. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, we kick it off next Sunday, Bengals' first season debut against the Buccaneers. Um, we're gonna have a full house over here. It's gonna be starting to pop it. Yep, we're getting to meet one of the new significant others. Hope he's ready.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I already warned him about that too.
SPEAKER_04He's like, Are you serious? I'm like, Yes, I said Sydney got kicked out. Yeah, like literally, and she's like, No, seriously, they will kick you out.
SPEAKER_02So we're we're ready. It's our time. We've done our due diligence. Joe, Jamar, T, the squad, Money Mac, shout out. Um, he is on fire. We'll keep it. Yeah, I agree. So we'll uh we'll let you know how the season goes through the weeks here about it. So this just in, Mama just shared with us um from the Bengals website. Our captains were announced. Mama, you wanna um okay. Whoops, just whacked my mic. So our captains for the year are Ted Karras, Evan McPherson. I couldn't be more proud. I'm actually like a proud mom right now. Uh Dexter Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase. About time! Yeah, he was Dexter, wasn't he? Yeah, he was doing well to be continued. Uh DJ Turner and Brian Cook. So I like it. Good group of captains for our team, for sure. Alright, so we are so excited to announce that we felt like we influenced this decision by Jamar Chase to come up with his very own first podcast. And it was not disappointing. So Chasin No One is the name of this new podcast. And at the back of the podcast in the show notes, because you know I read all the things, it said, want to be featured on the show? Give us a call and leave us a message. Oh, should we call right now? This is our cry. Maybe not. I could act like I'm our own like producers. Like, oh yes, we're waiting to meet to the listen, talk to the team for Jamar Chase. No Punt Intended wants to be a part of your podcast. Let's merge. Just bring us on, actually.
SPEAKER_04Let's bring us a person. So make Casey's life. What would you rather be sitting?
SPEAKER_01You like the scene on uh Cal Day and I'll say I don't know what to do with my hands.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I think she'd know exactly what to do with the color.
SPEAKER_03You would see me shut down completely. I would have Drill coming out and said, What's your favorite color?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I wouldn't know what to say. So he um had his debut with Annie Agar. She's a NFL person. Analyst? Analyst, she just like broadcasts on like influencer type of thing. I followed her on Instagram. I really like her. I've I'm I'm a fan now. If Jamar says she's good, then she's good. Um she's good enough to be on that podcast. Yeah, I mean she but she she knows her stuff and she knows what she's talking about, so than us. So it it was a really good podcast. It highlighted y'all listened. Yes, yeah. I loved the fact that it highlighted their friendship. Yes, because Joe was the guest for the for the show. Like he said, like they opened it up and she was like, How did you convince him to come? And Joe was like, I'd do anything for this guy. And I was like, Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So they highlighted a lot of the LSU, you want to talk about the Justin Jefferson and Well, he just was like how because you know there's been like talk going back and forth, and so basically Joe was like they would pout every week like when if so and so didn't get so many catches or whatever, and Jamar was like, I never really got mad at you, I just wanted the touchdowns, like kind of thing. But um, it was really kind of fun to like go back to those days. But one thing this is not what you told me to let, but one thing that I thought was interesting was Jamar talked about the year that he set, yes, and like he hasn't ever really talked about that much, and so that was interesting because he was like, No, you I was sitting at home watching y'all on TV, like that was hard, yeah. Like, and look at it now, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, in his rookie season for the Bengals, and I don't remember this as much because I guess we weren't as crazy at that point, but like they were concerned him coming off of not playing football for a year, and Joe really stook up for him and was like, guys, he's been a real deal, yeah. He's been training, put a helmet on in a year, like he's fine, he's gonna get it, he's gonna do it. And then they joked about like the coaches were like, Y'all were right, yeah, he hit he did it.
SPEAKER_03They can they connected a lot about their playing together for so long and their connection, and they're yeah, how they like feed off of each other, and like they do kind of have a sixth sense for each other, like they know it.
SPEAKER_02Like they'll they talked about coverages and things and all the stuff they do, but like, is it just like a go play? Is that what they were calling it? Where they're like, if it doesn't work, he's shot it to tomorrow. He said, I just know he's down there, and yeah, they said, Well, what what are the signals or the indicators you give each other? And they're like, Sometimes it's just we just know, yeah. I'm like, that's crazy. Yes, like that is a special type of football. So um, I really liked it. I thought it was good. They they weren't trying to be somebody they weren't in the podcast, they just talked and like joked and weren't trying to be so funny. And I it was just it was really well done, Jamar. You did great in team, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's hard to talk about how he's not like a morning person, like how Jamar doesn't like to talk in the morning much like me. It was like me and Sarah, because Sarah will come in like sees the day at ADM, and I'm like, shut up.
SPEAKER_02And then they asked Joe, he was like, Well, how's Joe in the morning? And Jamar was like, Joe's Joe all the time. Like the minute he wakes up, yeah, just the the same guy kind of eating field the whole time. Um the end, they they said something else, and he was like, Jamar's like, he's my best friend, like I'd do anything for this guy. And I was just like, teared up a little. Love that.
SPEAKER_03Shaking bait, shaking bait.
SPEAKER_01No, it's just gonna get a little pinky shake.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited for the the rest of it. So if you haven't followed uh Chasin No One, it's on YouTube and Spotify, maybe. I know it's on YouTube.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I thought, where did I listen to it? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Because I it's not on Apple Podcasts. It's not on Apple. I listened to it on Spotify. Uh listen to it on YouTube. It was good. It was it was really good. I'm excited to see who he has throughout the season. No pun intended cast. We're ready. We're ready, Willie, and A. I know it's coming. Here we are. We will join. I'm gonna call him this afternoon. When I get in that pool, it's happening. All bets are off. Here we go. What if I get us on? What would y'all what would y'all do?
SPEAKER_01We would go to Cincinnati or wherever it is. We gotta go.
SPEAKER_02They're recording in Ohio, I believe. Yeah. I'll sit here just like this. It'll be awesome. We can merge, we're fun, we're funny gals and guy. And please let us please. Alright, fantasy football's back in action. I drafted last night. Mama came over. She'd never got to see a fantasy draft before. She's very excited. She was into it. She was helping me. James got into a very heated argument at one point about who I should pick. I made a very poor choice by picking Josh Jacobs. But he told you you're picking. You're right, he did.
SPEAKER_01I did. I screwed up.
SPEAKER_02And he is suspended because he beat up his girlfriend, so, or a chick. I don't know. So I had to bench him. Nobody's gonna take him. It's fine.
SPEAKER_01He'll come back and he'll be mad. And then I'll pick all kinds of points.
SPEAKER_02I did pick, so, because I have trust issues, but Joe's my quarterback. Got him early. Uh I got T. Okay. Jamar went too early. I got 10th, so I didn't get to get him. Um, Money Mac. Beautiful. It's gonna be great. And then I've got a really good team. Who's my backup quarterback? Who's gonna end up getting that? Baker. Baker, yeah. Solid. Yeah, so when Joe tells the show by. She's got the Rams defense. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Wow, Sarah. Well done. Yeah. She was the first one to pick defense.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna win. I'm gonna win again. I won last year, so reigning champ. I'm really hoping. Or really I'm more excited about my underdog bets. Hey, hey. That new tell them about that that underdog bet thing that's going on where it's like where you keep a million?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I already lost my million.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. Well, never mind. I listen already.
SPEAKER_01I mean I bet the whole million on one game and I lost. So the whole deal, well, uh, that's they it's a free million, but you have to make a choice on they don't you don't get an option, you don't get to pick like a player or whatever. It's and I don't even remember, I think I picked the over and under on some college game. Okay. Yeah, I picked the over and I put the whole million on the over.
SPEAKER_02East Texas?
SPEAKER_01No, it's not East Texas. Um, whatever it was. So it's 20 bets. And so if you you you don't have to swing the whole million, you can keep it split, but if you split it, you cut it in half, you keep 500,000. And so at some point, I and I did the math because I'm a math guy. If you just halved it every time at the end of the 20 bets, you would only have a dollar. Actually, it's like 97 cents. But like, so you have to at some point make a decision and swing it. But the theory is that if you picked it right every time and you won all 20 bets, you would win a million dollars for free.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_01So of course I did it, and I lost on the first round.
SPEAKER_02So we're still looking for a sponsorship next week. Put you in the show notes, we'll take it. We'll we're still for our 20 listeners. We really are really hoping somebody steps up. Yeah. All right. Well, I think that's all we got for this week. Anybody else have anything else exciting coming up?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02Nope. Just be excited for next Sunday. Coming in hard next week. It's gonna be great. It's gonna be great. We'll we'll give the recaps of all the things. Um, that's it for episode 10 of No Pun intended. Keep on being a girl's girl, be kind to each other.
SPEAKER_03We'll see you next time for a recap of the Bengals win against the Buccaneers.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And LSG. Until next time, we will continue to punt most of the time.
SPEAKER_01Peace out.
