Episode 8: Wedding Recap

The day has come and gone! We couldn't have asked for a better weekend, the amount of love, support and family time was something we will forever cherish! We loved every part of it! But the one thing I do regret is jumping in the pool a little too early, besides that everything was perfect!

Welcome to the podcast, ladies and gentlemen. We are on episode eight. This is kind of the episode I think that everyone has been waiting for. Um I think it's Thursday, actually. Is it Thursday? It's Thursday. We're supposed to shoot them out on like Sunday or Monday, but in our defense, we got married. Our defense we got married. It was gonna be impossible to do that then.

Um, it feels insane. I was like, well, actually, I just had my own therapy and I was like talking to my therapist, and she's like, Are you coming down? Like, is it like a come down after the wedding? And I was like, no, it's not. It is like, have you felt like we've come down?

Like, it has been like nonstop. Like it was we had the wedding. Sunday and Monday were like loadout days. Like it was like clean up everything, get the house, you know, the rental all done. Goodness, this fake beer that I had is like you have the hiccups?

No, Tiger Woods just got pulled over and he had like hiccups and he couldn't like talk because he had drunk. Oh, because he was so drunk.

Anyways, okay, so it felt like Sunday and Monday. We were like loading at the house, like picking like packing it all up, whatever. And then we got back, and I mean, we've just been getting ready to go to our safari to Africa.

I was so busy with work.

I did a pitch today. I just have felt like work has been crazy this week. And then we just leave. And then we just leave.

But let's get to why people, I think people are really excited.

No one cares about the week after the wedding. Does no one want to hear about all the work I've done this week?

They're like, fast forward to the wedding. Like, I know. Let's talk about. I just want to say it was the best day of my life personally. Like, it was awesome. Like, it was so much fun.

I didn't want it to end. Like, I had so many, like, starting off on Thursday, we had people, we had friends come and help us literally clean plates, unload cars. Um, then we had a big pizza party on Thursday. Yeah.

And then on Friday, all of the welcome people came, which was just on uh so Thursday was we had the house from Thursday to Monday. Yeah. Thursday was just like a get ready for the weekend. We had a few people come by, but mostly it was just the family that was staying there. Which the family staying at the house, it was a six-bedroom house, and we had my immediate family, my sister, my mom, her four kids, her four kids, and then Eddie's parents and sister and I don't even know if we ended up sleeping over.

Like, I don't the house was it's so true.

I don't know who was I actually don't even get I think more people slept there. I just don't even know.

Well, it's funny because we just had people coming in the house. Like, I think Toshi slept there. I think he slept. Your aunt slept there. Your aunt slept there, yeah. It was just one of those places. It almost felt like my parents lost.

Wait, that's the I don't even know who was sleeping at our house.

Like that's what I'm saying. We had so many people coming in and out of the house. Yeah. We almost had no idea.

No. Anyways, and then Friday we had our rehearsal. So Friday we did a dress rehearsal. Dress rehearsal? Is that what you call it? No, because we weren't dressed. It was a rehearsal, dinner, whatever. We like all went on the we talked about like who was gonna walk down where, whatever. And then after that, his parents made like hot dogs and hamburgers, and it was just our bridesmaids and groomsman's and their partners who came over. And then we had like a little open mic night where they could like all say speeches. By the way, which all of my girlfriends showed up ready to go, had all their speeches written. His groomsmen, no idea it was even happening, right?

Well, I was more, I was more so worried about like I played golf that morning and I was more focused, locked in on that.

It's so true. You were really locked in on that golf tournament that I ended up winning.

Okay, so Haley is my mom's husband's daughter. So my stepsister. But um, she is What is she? She former volleyball player, former volleyball player, tall, sweet as hell.

Like Yeah. And she is single.

SPEAKER_01 4:44

And she's a little diamond the rough, I think. You know what I mean? She's like a once people like, it's like, oh, Haley. You know what I mean?

No, everyone was going after Haley. Poor Haley was just trying to enjoy.

We're not gonna say the men, the guys who are going after her, but Haley's got the she's got bigger litter. Yeah, I was gonna say yeah, yeah, yeah.

No, it was amazing.

She was in her bag this weekend.

Yeah, she was for sure in her bag.

But um, but yeah, no, my I I hadn't told my boys about it. I thought I had told them, I swore I had told them, but you know, it was almost better that they didn't, because they came up and just went off the ring.

They crushed it, by the way. Those guys wouldn't, because basically we had like a microphone, and a lot of my girlfriends have done this for their wedding, which the night before the wedding, it's just kind of like open mic. It's like a you know, the only people who really give speeches, only people who gave speeches at the actual wedding was our parents and our siblings. And so it was like, if anyone else wants to speak, oh my god, your sister's speech was the funniest speech I've ever heard. She took the microphone and she goes, because Chelsea didn't speak at the wedding because she doesn't like to public speak. And so I was surprised that she even took the microphone during the opening.

There was a couple people, like even Natasha grabbed the mic.

Well, I took the microphone. Jessica grabbed the mic. Those are two, like, I know they don't, they don't Yeah, they don't just talk.

That's what it, you know, you mean a lot to these people. I thought that was really cool.

I know, I know. Chelsea, well, I'll tell you what, Chelsea takes the microphone. This is Eddie's little sister, and he she goes, you know, Eddie's kind of always been like my enemy, like my op. Um, and now I have a big sister and I love her. That was it. That was the whole speech. Like, we all were waiting for the moment of like, but you know what, Eddie, you got some good qualities. Nope, never came. And then I got a hug and then she sat down.

That was kind of like my brother. My brother might have had the speech of the weekend.

Like his uh we we'll we'll like send some stuff out, but at one point he said Eddie used to poop his pants, and he like mic dropped and said, Yeah.

Well, yeah, that was so fun. Did you get the video of Matthew? Yeah, I have it. Oh, you haven't? Uh-huh. Yeah, Matthew's speech was unreal.

I have, I only have the video from the content creator. I don't have the video from the videographer yet, and his stuff looks very cinematic, so I'm kind of waiting for that.

I was also, your mom gave an amazing speech. She, your dad wrote a speech, he was going to give it.

That was one of the coolest moments of my entire life, I think. Like, I'm not even like Well, let's set the scene.

So your your dad wrote the speech.

Yeah, so we we had found out like two weeks. My mom, we were at we were at pizza, we were at dinner, yeah, and my mom had told you, hey, I think Mr. Gracie was writing a speech, right? And I was like, what? Like, that's crazy. My dad is like for my dad to show any emotion is like very like he doesn't show much emotion, you know. And for him to like write a speech was like wow. Yeah, like it was I obviously cried, right? But it was wild.

Well when it came down to it, he felt too emotional to say it.

And so your mom said it.

And she she said it in the buyers box and just delivered on it.

She did, and she did it in Spanish and in English, which I thought was really cool.

Yeah. I wish I would have done a little more vows in Spanish.

Because there was a lot of Spanish speakers that probably well, it made sense though, because the vows you were tell saying to me.

Yeah, you know, so it's like, I mean, you know, whatever. But like I like if you would have said vows in Spanish, I wouldn't really know what you're saying.

Oh, well, oh geez. No, but then I think it was cool because there's a lot of Spanish speakers who speak English but not like excellent. And so they probably didn't catch all the speeches. And so to have a speech just purely in Spanish, I think was really cool. And then she said it in English, and you were crying like a little blubbery mess. You had to do it twice.

I did it to cry twice. In Spanish and in English. Yeah, because the same parts hit. Like you don't have the same parts hit. It's like we watch a movie twice, you know, and the same part just gets.

The first time, like I need to look at that video because I was just kept putting my hand on your knee because I saw you crying. Eddie's dad is like his biggest hero in life. And so to have these words that were like, like he said, like, you know, the best day of my life, like when you were born, it was my best friend was born. It was very sweet.

And I saw you crying, but I didn't know what was being said because I'm like, what did you do? I'm working on my spinish, but I'm not there yet. And so I was putting my hand on your knee and just being like, honey, it's okay. No idea what was being said, and you're just like a blubbering mess.

Yeah, yeah. I tried my I knew I was gonna cry. I like I knew going into it, I was gonna cry. But like I did a pr it's funny because during our vows, during the ceremony, I was literally staring at bushes.

I I looked at you, but I no, you did not.

During my vows, I kept trying to look at you and you were like looking like over there.

I was looking at bushes because I was like the set because there were so many criers in in the crowd, you know? And I was like, I would look that, and then your sister was in direct line with me too. So if I looked at your sister, I was gonna be waterworks. I this was gonna be Soak City.

So I was like staying, I looked at I probably saw every bush at Valora State. Like I saw every time the gardener didn't do a good job. Like, I saw everything.

And Rampage, guys, if you guys, a lot of people know on this. I'm a massive Rams fan. Like massive. And I do work with them during the year. And I think you had reached out to them about right? You could tell the story about how it went.

Yeah, I just reached out to the Rams. I mean, they have like a thing on their website that's like, do you want their mascot to come to like your organization? Like, it doesn't even say wedding or anything. Yeah. And I just like filled it out and just said like business name Garcia Wedding. And then I finally got in touch with Alex, the guy behind the mask.

And then we had a Zoom call.

I was talking to Rampage. But he was such a nice guy. And um, it was just so crazy to have this secret from you. I tell you everything, and I can't believe I kept it up. Because also, every single step of the wedding, I was like, like, I I hit it on all of my planning details that you didn't even look at. But I was like, if he looked at it, I just didn't want you to see it.

You had like a text from the Rams, and I was like, why didn't you?

I had an email from the Rams on my computer, and Eddie was like, Why do you have an email from the Rams? And I just like like I was like, uh, because you one time I bought tickets and now they won't stop emailing me. Like, I just don't even know what the F came out of.

I was like putting on my socks or something like that. My because my socks are right next to you to the computer, yeah. And it was one of those things where I was just like, and but I have friends that had texted me. We had a lot of football fans like in the building that night too. And the amount of texts that I've got about Rampage are like unreal.

Like it's so crazy because like I literally just had a writer on a call I was on today be like, Oh, I actually had like the San Diego Padres at mine or something. And I'm like, I know that people do this, but there was some that it felt very special.

That so I was already my favorite part is that I was like, I that first I was nervous that Eddie would think that it was just like a guy in a Rams costume and it wasn't like the Ram. No. And then when I asked Eddie, he's like, oh yeah, he had the official gloves and everything. I knew it was a real Ram. I was like, oh my god.

Eddie said to me afterwards, he was like, We're gonna hire him for everything, like every kid's birthday party. And I'm like, Are we gonna have a DJ at like our kid's second birthday party?

A hundred percent. No, he was unreal. Like Unreal. If you're looking for a wedding DJ and you're like, Oh my gosh. I think he does like OC. I don't know if you go down to San Diego.

He's bilingual and he he spoke Spanish. Every single thing he said, he said in English and Spanish. But even if you're not Spanish, like if there's no Spanish speakers, that was not the reason why he was great. He was great in general. Like I would hire him for a white only party.

People were hitting me up about it. Like somebody just asked for his playlist, you know? Like people were asking me.

But he did, I will say, he did hit those Spanish bangers. Like I the Latinos loved him as well. Oh, 100%. He hit like the modern bangers, but he also hit the Spanish bangers.

Yeah, no, it was great. Everything about that wedding, we all all I wanted was people to be fed well and to have a good party. Yeah. And then I think you handled the rest. I think you did a really good job.

But it's so funny because someone said, like, oh, you guys only got 16 hats. And I was like, we got like 60 hats.

Valora State was awesome. Valora Estate was phenomenal, and it's crazy because like we could talk about this really quickly. We went to Valora State first. And and I think did I send it to you? I don't know.

I have no qualms about I know who put this wedding on. Do you know what I mean? Everyone knows. So if you want to take credit for something just to make you sleep better, that's fine by me. Okay, so Valora Estate was we actually were going down. I really thought I wanted to get married at the Bougainvillea estate.

I mean, the truth is the Bougainville estate could not handle us. There was not enough room because I wanted to get it.

And there was no way we we just could not do that. And so we but I thought the bougainia was going to be the dream. This was before I even knew about the guest limit. And uh we had set up to go to the Bougainvillea, Desert Ridge Estate, which has since burned down, which is crazy.

And then Valor was the third one we went to.

Um, and then anyway. Let's do it again. Valor, we were like, they didn't have any photos. The Valore house was built by a family, they built it for themselves, and then they have since moved out. They're like building another house, and this is something they rent out, but they just started to rent it out for weddings and and big events and stuff like that. And so there was like no photos online.

Hidden gem. And so we went to it and I we added it on. We already had, we were gonna go to three estates, and then Valor emailed me back and was like, Hey, do you wanna come see Valor? And I was like, Whatever, we'll tack it on to the beginning. This place that we're not even gonna like. But we walked in and we were like, holy shit.

I think we all looked at each other. It was like one of those where you just go like it.

And then and then afterwards, I was like, Oh, it's only gonna get better from here. If this is the hidden gem, imagine what's next. Yeah, but none of the others even came close, remotely. Cash came close. Cash was cash is stunning. They just they had no dates available for us. But then honestly, if I were to do it over, I would still pick Valore over cash.

Yeah, and everything about that house was top notch.

Anyway, I'm sitting back there with mere organ friends, um, Murray Hill Network, and I'm just like, they're like, pull up a chair, enjoy it. And I did, I sat down, I kid you not, maybe 28 seconds, and I'm sitting down just like this, and I'm just like, God, look at this. How many people? I'm like soaking it all in. And I have like a I think I have I have like a water in my hand, and Jenna, who is phenomenal, our wedding planner, grabs me, she goes, Hey, I want to interview you. And I'm like, all right, well, fuck it. Here we go, another thing. Yeah, so I walk over and then she's like gonna interview me, and all of a sudden, my buddies, my all my Toshi, Kflo, Ben, all those guys have a bucket of fucking water. Ice cold. Like of just one, and they just douse in it. And I'm like, fucking A. All this means it's time to jump in the pool. So that's what went through my mind. I jumped in the pool at because we were supposed to jump in the pool at 1045.

He would never jump in without me. It's on we know the schedule. Me and him are taking a breath right now because we know we're gonna jump in the pool at 10 45. So I have a little bit of time. All of a sudden, what do I hear? Splish splash, Eddie's in the pool. I'm like, oh, Eddie!

That was my fault. I it got away from me because I was getting ready to take my shirt off on the dance floor, too. Because um, what Mr. Brightside was about to come on, you know? Yeah. So all the boys were about to take their shirts off. It was turning into that type of the night, and then these fuckers doused me with the book. We're gonna blame your boys. Yeah, I Toshi's gonna listen to this and he's gonna start laughing. And you know what? I should have got that sign because he wouldn't put his board shorts on. Did you notice that? Oh, yeah, he wouldn't put his swimming trunks on, so he knew what he was doing, that motherfucker.

Of course. Anyway, so I walk over, Eddie's in the pool, I'm pissed, and I'm wearing, still wearing my dress, Kadena Collective dress. Yeah, but I was gonna change into a swim dress before we jumped in. But I turned to Jenna, our wedding planner, but also my sorority sister and friend, and I'm like, Jenna, should I just jump in? And she's like, it's up to you, but go for it. So I just jumped in in my gown, which is actually cool. I'm happy I did that. But I also just jumped in because I wanted the photographers to take pictures of us in the pool and you were already in there without me.
