What's up, ladies and gentlemen? Welcome to episode 10.
SPEAKER_0110.
SPEAKER_00Wow, that's uh that's pretty impressive.
SPEAKER_01We're in the double digits.
SPEAKER_00That means we've done almost for 10 weeks. But we've I think we skipped, I think we skip we all know that's true.
SPEAKER_01We've skipped a couple that's not true.
SPEAKER_00Well, this has been uh interesting time, I would say, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, sure. We got married, we went on the honeymoon, right?
SPEAKER_00And then last week was just like a it was almost, would you call like a reset week?
SPEAKER_01Sure, yeah, I'd call it that.
SPEAKER_00I didn't do anything, yeah. I didn't do anything. Um, I kind of sat on that part of the couch and I think I actually played pickleball twice or three times. So I did something. Um, it was fun. Yeah, but it's good to get like back now. I this week I think we're like we're go.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm I know, and I feel like I did do things. I unpacked, I cleaned the whole house. Tell me I'm wrong.
SPEAKER_00I unpacked too, and I cleaned some of the house.
SPEAKER_01Did you?
SPEAKER_00What did you clean? I cleaned uh my section.
SPEAKER_01I cleaned uh you cleaned the inside of a friggin' chip bag. That's what you cleaned.
SPEAKER_00Can we okay? How many times did you make me dinner last week?
SPEAKER_01That's true. Okay, that's true. So Eddie is our cook, he is our chef.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so we balance each other up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're the cook, I'm the cleaner. It's true.
SPEAKER_00No, they don't. Farcia, like she loves to talk about it. Also, okay, wait.
SPEAKER_01We have to explain, we have to explain Farcia.
SPEAKER_00We will explain Farcia. Okay, we'll explain Farcia and we'll explain the voice behind everything. How about that? Okay. We don't have any notes, no iPad today. No iPad. But we don't know what to talk about today. So I am anybody, a lot of people that listen to the show that know me, I am a master shit talker. Like I could talk shit with the best of them. Caroline likes to talk shit, but she doesn't like to take it back.
SPEAKER_01Well, because here's the thing you go too low.
SPEAKER_00That's uh that's the art of shit talking.
SPEAKER_01No, you go way too low. So I say something like a little silly and fun.
SPEAKER_00No, it's yeah, like you just said I cleaned up the inside of a that was silly and fun.
SPEAKER_01That would be bad.
SPEAKER_00I could have really that's a top ropes.
SPEAKER_01No, I no, okay, here's the thing. You would be like, I would be like, oh ha, you like clean the inside of a Cheeto bag, and then you would be like, Well, guess what? You're so heavy, you can only get weight at the zoo. Like, you would say something like that.
SPEAKER_00That's such a bad thing. I wouldn't have said that. That's bad.
SPEAKER_01Okay, what would you say?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not gonna say it because Yeah, I don't want to hear it. Just because you say it sweet doesn't mean it's not hard.
SPEAKER_01No, and then you say something. No, and then you say something so gnarly that I'm like, and my hair gets like flies back because it can't believe how crazy it is.
SPEAKER_00I grew up in a locker room. I could talk shit with it.
SPEAKER_01That's fine. I'm not in a locker room.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but you like to talk shit, you like to act like you're in a locker room.
SPEAKER_01No, but then when it comes on you, no, please don't say nothing.
SPEAKER_00That's better what you are.
SPEAKER_01No, I just think that you need to know the line. I think that there's obviously There's no line in shit talking.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. You just can't talk about people's moms or family. No, I can't talk about family.
SPEAKER_01Okay, here's a locker room line. It doesn't really exist, right? There's a life. There's still a line there. There's a there's a line in wife.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but if your wife wants to talk shit, you better believe I'm gonna talk shit back to you.
SPEAKER_01Okay, anyway, so the the uh nickname fartsia comes from Eddie's last name. I guess mine is too, Garcia. That's right, right? And uh basically when Eddie, Eddie farts a lot. There's no other way to describe it. He just farts a lot, and so I started being like, geez Louise, like you're like not Garcia, you're fartsia. And then everything I would like if when he's angry, did we already explain this? When he's angry, I call him Grumpcia because he's like grumpy.
SPEAKER_00We haven't talked about that.
SPEAKER_01So I just put everything in front of Sia, but now it's you. Well, then you started calling me it back because you fart a lot. No, you tried, you tried, and it just didn't work. You tried fart line, I didn't like Caroline Fart line that didn't take.
SPEAKER_00I do call you just fart, just fart. I think it's more, I don't even think it's like a You don't even think about it now. No, I just call you Fart, yeah. So let's talk about that voice. So everyone has we were in Africa, and obviously the animals, and that voice comes from one specific.
SPEAKER_01No, okay, so here's what he's talking about. We went on Safari, and when I would do videos of the animals, I would do like a mocking voice, like it's always like a lisp. I can't even do it on command. It's like, oh yeah, okay. Here I am. My name is Alma Joaf, and I love I love sitting young to Safali. I would do that, and everyone's like, I love the voice, I love the voice. Where Eddie gets in there, he comments on one of the TikTok.
SPEAKER_00I did come up with this, by the way.
SPEAKER_01No, you commented on one of the I didn't even know you were awake at this point. I just like look at my TikTok and I'm like, oh, look at everyone's like enjoying the voice. They think I'm funny, haha. All of a sudden I see Eddie Garcia. I actually came up with that.
SPEAKER_00I did.
SPEAKER_01I was like, geez Louise, Eddie, jealous match?
SPEAKER_00I did come up with it. I don't know if you did. You just gotta give their flowers for their flowers or a gift. You don't like to admit things. That's another thing that Fartia is not gonna do.
SPEAKER_01There's gonna be called couples therapy.
SPEAKER_00But it honestly comes from Gusle. So Gusser is our one of our dogs. This is Zoe. I think she's in the frame right now. Um, Zoe doesn't have a voice. Gusle does have a voice, and uh, she's staring through my soul. I think do you think she needs to poop? She probably wants to you want to go on a long walk? We're gonna walk after this show.
SPEAKER_01We'll go on after the podcast.
SPEAKER_00Is that okay with you? That's Zoe. I'm I'm just we're gonna deal with my dog. Um she's stretching out.
SPEAKER_01But then, but then Gus, Gus is like, he's so like Gus, I rescued Gus from Korea. So they there's this like a dog rescue in Long Beach called Camp Cocker, and they have Cocker Spaniels. And I guess that they were like they were like partners with I think some of Arden. No, but they they were like partners with somebody in Korea, and they found like 18 of these like abandoned dogs, Cocker Spaniels, in this Korea warehouse, and one of them was Gus. So I adopted Gus through that. And Gus is such a lover, but he like doesn't have his vocal cords were cut, and he's like can't get potty training, and he's kind of like pathetic in a way.
SPEAKER_00No, he's not. Don't call him that.
SPEAKER_01No, but what but what I mean is that he's so loving, like he's so loving and so soft, even though like he has clearly been like hurt his whole life.
SPEAKER_00Even sometimes you go to pet him, he doesn't like to be pet, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's a little nervous, but he's just like a big lover, and so we always use this voice we're like, oh my name is Gospel. I came over from Koya, and I love it here. And and like he's always just like assumes the best, like that's his like personality in our head that he's like, Okay, so it's Lee. I know my teeth are falling out, but they're probably in Koeah, they cut my vocal codes for a reason. They did it on purpose because they would only do something that was good for me. Yeah, like that's his vibe.
SPEAKER_00But the voice comes from Gus. That's what the bottom line is from all this. So the voice comes from Gus. Um, we do have some qu I have some questions to ask our audience.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So we're gonna flip the script a little bit. Well so so it's funny, right?
SPEAKER_01They don't answer us because remember, we asked about Club Garcia and no one answered.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they didn't?
SPEAKER_01No, no one told me anything. But then I posted TikTok the other day and someone commented and was like, Where are you on the podcast? We miss you. And I'm like, Oh, we have listeners, I guess.
SPEAKER_00No, we for sure have listeners because I get emailed every week, like a weekly weekly report on it. And uh we get we have quite a few actually. But then we asked some questions and more people listen to us than I think should, but it's awesome. And uh, but I have a question. Okay, and it's not a question from like I don't want to sound selfish though, because oh we've talked about this, right? Like gift gift giving at a wedding, right?
SPEAKER_01Oh, geez, Louise.
SPEAKER_00So you guys are gonna see Eddie's greedy side. No, it's not my greedy side, but I'm so I'm the type of person that forgets. Like I forget a lot of things. I think that's a one of the best parts of being married is like you have like another partner to kind of be like, hey, do this, do this, do you think to carry the mental load?
SPEAKER_01Not the mental load. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_00Not the mental load, but like if it wasn't for you certain things, I wouldn't RSVP, like I'd be hard to RSVP for now that I know what it takes from behind the scenes of like running a wedding, you know, I think I would RSVP right away. Yeah, that's one thing. But my like sometimes you forget to like, you know, give them a present or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And my question is when is it too late? Not that we're asking people for presents, we're not asking for people for presents, but I know it's been like my parents aren't afraid to tell people, like, hey, you forgot to give them a gift, or my your mom isn't afraid to tell somebody, hey, by the way, did you give them a gift? I I don't know, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, I think it depends on the person. I also think a lot of people uh traveled all that way for us, so maybe they think their presence is a gift, and I think that that's fine.
SPEAKER_00Oh, 100%.
SPEAKER_01And and I don't want to. I'm just opening the discussion. I'm just making this a forum. I'm just gonna So we have like what, like 30 people who didn't give us a gift, right? And as we've been going through, because I just bought all these thank you notes, in fact, that we have to get going on. We're like, oh, these people didn't give us a gift, and some of them are a little surprising. It's like, oh, that's someone that we would think would give us a gift, and then it's been this conversation because Eddie is like, Oh, I'm gonna go on white now and don't have to be.
SPEAKER_00I don't I'm not gonna do that. My I that's like that's like something you pass along.
SPEAKER_01But then I'm like, I'm like, it's literally, we were at dinner last night with the Garcias, and you guys are like, read the list, read the list of who didn't give a gift. And I'm like, no, like I think we're just done here. I think it's like send the thank you cards and we're done.
SPEAKER_00But that's also like my family is like that, but your mom said the same thing. Your mom said, tell me which one am I?
SPEAKER_01Oh, my mom is like, give me the list and I'll cunt them down.
SPEAKER_00That's what I think. That's what I think. So that's why I think it's like I don't want to say they almost take it personally, because like if it's their side of the family, they're like, oh, who is that? Like, or if it's my sister, my brother, you know, etc. Same thing with your mom. It's like, is it my friend? Is it like a girlfriend of mine? Like, you know, is it an aunt, whatever, you know? Yeah. Um, so I think it's easier for them to make have that conversation than for us to have that conversation. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_00But I think I I'm what I'm saying is I think people forget.
SPEAKER_01Like, I think that's true. Well, I also think about like this is not the same thing, but like our friend Annie, remember for the bridal shower, we sent her a uh an invite and she never responded, never said anything.
SPEAKER_00And mind you, she's like a grade school teacher, like most on top of it, most they probably the nicest person we nicest human alive. Yeah, one of the nicest humans alive.
SPEAKER_01And we didn't hear from her and she didn't show up.
SPEAKER_00And we and you like brought it up.
SPEAKER_01You're like, this is so surprising. I was like, it's so weird that Annie didn't even say anything or didn't come, but I also didn't want to be like reach out to her and be like, hey, what's your deal? Like, why didn't you come? Or like why didn't you even say you couldn't come? Anyways, turns out it got sent to the wrong email. And Annie, I guess, saw the photos of the bridal shower and felt like left out. Like she was like, Oh, I thought we were like pretty close. Like, I'm Did she tell you that? Yes. Oh, really? She said that she told Reuben, like, I was at her birthday. Like, I'm surprised that like she didn't invite me to a bridal shower. And I was like, Annie! And so we had this like weird standoff where like neither of us were saying anything to each other because we didn't want to be rude. And then when we finally figured it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I had something like that with Yanni, my good friend. Remember, she was like, didn't know if she was invited to the wedding. Yeah, Yanni's also got like 10,000 things going on this going on at the same time. Right. I swore I had texted her about it, and then we have friends like that are just on top of it. You did you sit a suit shop? This is another promo for suit shop. Yeah, you just did another uh you said a video for them. I had some buddies, like my buddy Harrison, he's on top of it. Yeah, like he's one of those guys. If you send him a wedding invitation, he's gonna book his hotel, he's gonna send you a gift, and then he's gonna ask you, like, hey, what's the dress code? And also, do I need to bring a fork or a spoon to eat? Like, it's gonna be like that's a place at valet parking. Like, you know what? Very on top of it.
SPEAKER_01I am too. And so, like, my friend Natasha, sorry to call you out, Natasha, she doesn't listen, but um, we got an invitation for her wedding, and I just I was like, okay, RSVP, yes, I booked our hotel, and then I wanted to get a gift, and you go to her registry and it says, not up yet, coming soon. And I was like, Oh my gosh, because if I don't do it immediately, I might forget.
SPEAKER_00You see, and I'm the type of person that'll like, I'll read the text, I'll scan the invitation, won't do anything, and then eventually get back to it, and then it'd be like, Hey, by the way, are you coming to the wedding? Oh, fuck yeah. Like, I'm definitely planning on giving you know what I mean? Yeah, so I get that. People maybe forget, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But the gift thing, it's so weird because especially because our wedding was semi-destination. I never want someone to think that we're like, hey, I know that you spent a lot of money to come to Palm Springs. Do you also want to get us a gift? Right.
SPEAKER_00But also, when is it too late to give a gift?
SPEAKER_01My mom said she said that like she read somewhere it was like, either six months or a year they have to give a gift. We got a gift last night. We got ice cream.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's right.
SPEAKER_01That was really we went to Salt and Straw, and this girl was wearing like a Portland shirt, and Eddie was like, Are you from Portland? She was like, Yeah, she was like, Oh, I'm from Happy Valley. I was like, Oh my god, I'm from Beaverton. What brought you to LA? And she goes, Oh, I'm going to school at LMU, which is where I went to school. And then your mom said, They just got married.
SPEAKER_00And then I think my mom will tell everybody we just got married for the next five years.
SPEAKER_01100%. And then, and then when we went to go check out, they were like, We're compying it, we're compying your ice cream. And also, your mom said, She's famous about me. Are you no? I was like, I'm not famous, don't think that.
SPEAKER_00But it was like she was really shy, she didn't really want the attention, I felt like.
SPEAKER_01But she still gave us really nice free ice cream, and salt and straw's expensive.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, hopefully corporate doesn't hear this, but that was really nice.
SPEAKER_01No, I think it corporate should hear it because we loved it, and she did great customer service.
SPEAKER_00Great customer service, yeah. Um, you guys, you know, some quick little thing about Salt and Straw. I always pop in there like once a year or something like that to see their prices because I move as they move.
SPEAKER_01Do you? Yeah, I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I move I think they're pretty fairly priced because I think they're like I didn't even look last night. Whenever my it's so funny, whenever my dad goes anywhere with us, I don't even look at prices or look at menus or because I got my guy. It's like all inclusive when your dad comes.
SPEAKER_01Oh geez.
SPEAKER_00Um, but I think they're about six and seven.
SPEAKER_01I think it was six fifty for a year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, and then I think uh their cone, they actually make their waffle cones it's like a dollar fifty, a dollar seventy-five, which is kind of on par. I charge a dollar, but I try that's where I look at my prices.
SPEAKER_01That's interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Little insight. Oh, that leads us perfectly into our first question.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_01It's like you planned it. Question for the pod. Okay, are you ready? Yeah. Hello, Garcias from across the concrete walkway.
SPEAKER_00What is that?
SPEAKER_01It's Maddie.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01Hope you have a fabulous honeymoon and sorry again for not being able to make it to the wedding. Uh, newborns, am I right? Hope you guys don't hear him crying too much. Regardless, it looked amazing. Side note, we don't hear him crying at all. Do you?
SPEAKER_00I've heard him, you know, he's woke me up twice now.
SPEAKER_01No, that's twice. I don't hear him crying at all.
SPEAKER_00He's a good baby.
SPEAKER_01He's a great baby.
SPEAKER_00I don't yeah, I don't even think I've no, I haven't heard him one time.
SPEAKER_01She could have been lying this whole time about having a baby.
SPEAKER_00100%. I have seen him. She just doesn't want to go to her, she just didn't want to go to our wedding. No, no, I think.
SPEAKER_01And I just like met a cabbage patch call.
SPEAKER_00No, but I I actually did see he perks he parked beside me the other day and he did have a car seat in the back of the street.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wow, so it is real. Or they just really committed to the bit.
SPEAKER_00And they put like diapers in there and were like, oh, I guess he's no, okay. No, but he's a good baby. I don't think I've heard what was his name again. We probably shouldn't say it.
SPEAKER_01We should not say it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but but it's a beautiful baby. I met, I think I saw him one time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I've seen him once. No, but I have not heard him.
SPEAKER_01Okay, are you ready for the question?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01By the way, Maddie, our neighbor, has a baby. Also, crazy for people who don't know. I came here for an open house, and I came in to go see this house to see if I wanted to buy it, which obviously I ended up doing. And literally, while I was at the open house, I watched Maddie, my friend from college, like walk into her place. And I knew that she, she and her husband, well, boyfriend at the time, I think, had bought a townhouse in Mar Vista, but I didn't really like I literally Oh, you didn't know.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they were they were here before you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I knew I had hung out with her and she said, I bought a townhouse in Mar Vista. And I was like, Oh my god, she's like, Yeah, you should come see it. I was like, Great. And then I never saw it. And then I came here for an open house, and there was Maddie. I was like, Oh my god, I guess this is a townhouse in Mar Vista.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I mean Mar Vista's kind of yeah, no, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyways, we're great neighbors.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Maddie says, My question is actually for Eddie. She says, sorry, Carolyn, but I already know you. How did you get into the ice cream business? And do you have any new flavors in the works that you're excited about?
SPEAKER_00So, how did I get in the ice cream business? That's always a good question. So I was a broadcast journalism major, and when I was coming out of college, um, right when I was like really getting into it, the pandemic hit. Like I was doing the whole the hiring process was tough.
SPEAKER_01I was like called COVID-19.
SPEAKER_00A little COVID-19. So I was I was kind of, you know, broadcast radio is tough. You gotta work your way from the bottom to the top. It's very um like most industries. Like most industries, right? So I was gonna be a board operator, um, and it was like tough to do get that. Like it was a tough, like it's tough to get in the radio industry, like it's probably just in LA, but like just to get in the door. Of course. And I remember finally getting a chance, and uh it was a small, small, um small station in Santa Monica, and I was gonna do the board operator, and I remember going in there, getting the job, and then the next week COVID-19 happened. And what does that mean, right? What what what do you think what do you think happens, right? I was the first guy, I was the last guy they hired, and the first guy they fired. So that happened.
SPEAKER_01They said Eddie Garcia.
SPEAKER_00Yes, then I thought my dreams of being in the Did they actually fire you?
SPEAKER_01Like, did they come in and just say you're fired?
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't even go, I didn't even have a first date. Like, I was getting ready to fix it. I didn't even know that.
SPEAKER_01You didn't even have a first date.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I was getting ready to like display. No, we're gonna be. We were like talking about like start dates. We were starting to do that. I didn't even know that.
SPEAKER_01And so what they just like you was like, actually, never mind.
SPEAKER_00Actually, never mind. Yeah, like delete did you cry? I didn't cry, but it was tough, you know. It was COVID, it was that's when I that's when I figured COVID was real.
SPEAKER_01Oh you sound like such a thing.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, but I was like, oh shit, this is like for the long haul. Yeah, you know, at that because you know, those first couple days, people were like, Oh, for sure.
SPEAKER_01I remember when my girlfriends were like, they're saying it's gonna go all the way through April, yeah, or it might be two weeks, or it might be one week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I remember getting that email, and they're like, We don't know like the future, like we don't know. And I was like, Oh man, this is probably this is gonna be a big thing. Yeah, you know. Um, so so that ended up happening, and then I remember my dad being like, All right, so what's next, right? And I was like, Well, I want to get back in radio, like I'll just wait, you know? And he's like, No, no, no, we gotta go. And so, what were you doing?
SPEAKER_01You're just sitting at home.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think we were all just sitting at home.
SPEAKER_01I guess so. Yeah, but like you didn't have anything.
SPEAKER_00I didn't have I didn't have anything. I mean, I was a broadcaster, but that's what I wanted to do, like sports radio.
SPEAKER_01So it didn't take a while to get that first job.
SPEAKER_00It did, it did. I was I remember I I'll never forget this. God, I had an interview at Fox Sports, I'll never forget this. And it was the worst interview in my entire life. I remember I walked into Fox Studios and I saw Colin Coward, who's the guy who I like, he's like the go, right? I listened to Pat McAfee and Colin Coward, those are the two guys I listened to. And I remember seeing him and I got so nervous. It was, I was kind of interviewing for almost like my dream job a little bit.
SPEAKER_01And um Do you think you were underqualified for it?
SPEAKER_00Not at all. Oh I was just so nervous I couldn't talk.
SPEAKER_01I see.
SPEAKER_00And for me to not be able to talk, that is like I've never never met that.
SPEAKER_01I've never met that.
SPEAKER_00I was like shaking. They gave me like a sheet of like people to fill out. I remember like they're like, Oh, how good do you know sports? And I was filling it out, and I named them, but I was probably I was like, I was like writing like this, like it was unreal. I was so nervous. I totally had a it would the interview was so bad. I interviewed the guy, uh I emailed the guy a week later. I was like, I am so sorry about that interview. Can I re-interview like in a week? But in that industry, you can't do that.
SPEAKER_01Like, did he did he say yeah, it was bad?
SPEAKER_00No, he never said it was bad, but I know it was bad. Like I knew, like coming out of that, I was just so nervous. Yeah, uh, I wasn't myself, right?
SPEAKER_01Totally, but anyway, kind of like on our first date.
SPEAKER_00No, um so then anyway, I so that didn't work out anything. Um, and my dad was like, What do we do next? And I thought, fuck it, let's I was actually dating a girl from uh somewhere in the Midwest, and I had thought of this idea of ice cream, and I was like, Oh my god, I went and tried this ice cream, and I said, if I ever started my own business, this is what I want to do, because they don't have it in LA, it's kind of a niche thing, and long story short, it was that time. What are we gonna do? And I thought about that idea, and I was like, I'm gonna bring that and I'm gonna put it in a truck, and I'm gonna do it in LA. And then long here we are, three years, four years later. Um, we are flavors by Ed in a truck, and it took that took honestly the whole process of starting an ice cream truck took a long time. It's not something I just thought I needed an ice cream machine in a truck, go, and it's not you need to find power, lights, like uh generators, um, permits, uh, how you can get the machine in the truck. And then there's so many things, right?
SPEAKER_01So in like marketing, marketing, people getting to know who you are.
SPEAKER_00People getting and I'm still not that big, right? It's still like growing, yeah. Um, but it's still like it was a tough process, and then now we're finally, you know, going. And then any new flavors? I wouldn't say we have any new flavors. I have eight flavors that I really like that sell really well. I remember I told you I want to bring banana in because I love banana ice cream.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you're the only person who likes banana ice cream.
SPEAKER_00Cold stone banana ice cream is my favorite ice cream. Um, but I'm probably the only one of the only people, and it right now, what I have right now sells really well. So there's no I'd maybe work like maybe a mint in, you know, for like pistachio nut. Because pistachio nut sells good with adults. Yeah, it does. But so would mint, you know. I also try to base it based off colors, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, yeah, so you said the banana you would have to kick out a birthday cake, but birthday cake sells really well. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, I the kids are what make, you know, also.
SPEAKER_01So Eddie's like Eddie said, it's like a it's called Flavor Burst.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, Flavor Burst.
SPEAKER_01And it's from the Midwest, and he thought of or he got the idea because his ex-girlfriend is from the wet Midwest. And so it's always really funny to see Eddie now when people ask him, like, oh, how like why do you have flavor bursts? Like, what's your connection to the Midwest? Because for a long time Eddie would like stumble around it and be like, I just like uh like I like at a friend who like Did that because I'm like sitting right there, and then I'm like, it's his ex-girlfriend, like it's okay, we can all say it. Yeah, your ex-girlfriend is from the Midwest.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was funny. Because it remember it kind of happened early on. You were like, I think you were like helping me with my first event.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was.
SPEAKER_00And somebody from like Michigan from the Midwest was like, How do you know what's your connection to this place?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then Eddie's like fumbling over his words.
SPEAKER_00And I'm never nervous in that truck. Like, I'm always no, you were so nervous.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, listen, we like I'm aware that you dated someone before me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if this is okay. So, yeah, that's where it came from. Yeah, that's the idea. That's a whole backstory behind it. And now this is kind of like my way of getting back into radio, right? It's like our podcast.
SPEAKER_01This podcast.
SPEAKER_00So it's really fun.
SPEAKER_01We love it.
SPEAKER_00We love it, yeah. Maddie, thank you so much.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, thank you, Maddie.
SPEAKER_00That was a great question by her. She's always she often asks a good question.
SPEAKER_01She she's on it. Yeah. We love Maddie, even if she lied to us about having a baby.
SPEAKER_00And she's usually watching sports too. Is she? Because she has her blinders down.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I always is that weird that I look into see what people are watching?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Really? But it's not like at my eye level. It's not like I don't have I'm not like going through bushes. It's like as I'm walking into our place, I like you could see how people like Well, I know that that there's one apartment at the end.
SPEAKER_01They like sports too.
SPEAKER_00They're always Dodger fans. Big Dodger fans.
SPEAKER_01They're always watching sports.
SPEAKER_00And I'm so jealous because they're like cooking and watching the Dodger game. I'm like, damn, this would never happen in my house.
SPEAKER_01Why?
SPEAKER_00What do you mean, why?
SPEAKER_01We always watch Dodger games.
SPEAKER_00We don't want okay. The only sport that you let me watch through and through from beginning to end is the Rams.
SPEAKER_01Wait, that's not true. We uh Lakers has been on the TV a bunch lately.
SPEAKER_00I wanted to watch last night and you said no, let's watch too. I put on my iPad. But that's it's it's not here nor there.
SPEAKER_01Oh, well, that's true. I guess if I'm around, I don't want to know.
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm saying. Like they're just like they're just hanging out with it.
SPEAKER_01If I'm not around, you can't see it.
SPEAKER_00I think Maddie likes sports. I think Maddie, I think they're does Maddie like sports? Are they from New Orleans?
SPEAKER_01We all eat she's not from New Orleans. I'll email her back and ask her.
SPEAKER_00I think she's they're like Saints, or he's a Saints fan. They're another football fan.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well we'll ask and sports fans. This podcast is just gonna be us and Maddie in conversation.
SPEAKER_00As it should be.
SPEAKER_01I know. Okay. Someone said, Caroline and Eddie, congratulations on you, marriage.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, that's so cute.
SPEAKER_01Caroline, I know you wrote on one day at a time. Are there any specific jokes or storylines that you wrote that made it to air? How does it work when lions actually leave the writer's room and make it into the script? So, just really quickly, because I know Eddie's never watched one day at a time.
SPEAKER_00I don't even know what it is.
SPEAKER_01That's crazy. Are you serious?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's a big show that I wrote on. It's my first show. That is extremely unsupportive of you, Eddie.
SPEAKER_00That's not true. I didn't know you.
SPEAKER_01But you we could still we should watch it now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we should.
SPEAKER_01Okay, anyways. Um, when I wrote on Monday at a time, I absolutely loved it. And my biggest the joke that I wrote, my very first joke that got in, I'll never ever forget it. What is it? I'm gonna tell you. There was two, the two teenage girls, Elena and now I can't remember the her best friend's name. They come out and Penelope, the mom, goes, Oh, are you guys have you guys how's homework going? And Elena goes, Oh, we've been working on our immigration homework, but we've really hit a wall.
SPEAKER_00You made a you made a fucking immigration joke.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, isn't that crazy? That was my very first joke that I got on.
SPEAKER_00I've always known you're a racist.
SPEAKER_01Eddie!
SPEAKER_00You were you really are. No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I'm totally kidding. So we're gonna clip that I always knew you were a racist.
SPEAKER_01I know, I know, they are Eddie.
SPEAKER_00I'm totally kidding.
SPEAKER_01No, it was like it was like 2017. Donald Trump had just gotten into president presidency. He was talking a lot about that wall. And so I made my- Did they build that by the way?
SPEAKER_00And did Mexico pay for it?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm just wondering.
SPEAKER_00I was just wondering. But they did, you know, they did paint the American side black?
SPEAKER_01Why?
SPEAKER_00Because they said so that when the sun reflects it gets really hot. But people aren't jumping from the American side to the Mexican side. Isn't that funny?
SPEAKER_01Wait, that's silly.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of anthrax silly. Okay, like on Saturday night when that thing was staged. No, keep going, no, no, keep going.
SPEAKER_01Eddie Garcia.
SPEAKER_00No, no, keep going.
SPEAKER_01I'm Eddie is a conspiracy theorist.
SPEAKER_00I am not a conspiracy theorist. I know no. Did you see Dana White in that video? No, he was just standing straight up.
SPEAKER_01Okay, anyways, so um, can we talk more about my joke from one day to time?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, keep going. Okay, so you just took me there. You took my mind there.
SPEAKER_01Uh gosh, I think you forgot that we were fully recording the podcast. I know. Anyway, so I was very proud of that joke. It was very timely. Um, and now it's really sad. My joke was like a Donald Trump joke, but that's what it was. That was the first joke I got in, and um, yeah, a bunch of other storylines got into one day at a time. Um, but I won't share that here because I'm sitting next to a non-fan.
SPEAKER_00That's not true. Yeah. I've watched every episode of the Great North.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but not one day.
SPEAKER_00Is it one day still on TV?
SPEAKER_01It's on Netflix.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I watched it. Me and Zoe watched it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we did, right, Zoe? Zoe did.
SPEAKER_01I actually think you did.
SPEAKER_00We did, me and Zoe watched it. I actually watched it on our 30-hour trip to Canada or to uh Africa too.
SPEAKER_01I wish that would be so nice.
SPEAKER_00Have you guys seen Monsters University, by the way? No, great movie.
SPEAKER_01That's what you watch over. I watched the pit season two, loved it.
unknownThat was great.
SPEAKER_00Also, guys, for anybody that uh is asking for merch, it's on the way. We're trying to figure out the best uh Okay, here's what we're trying to do. Yeah, yeah. It's tell them what we're trying to do, and if there's a listener that knows.
SPEAKER_01I know if there's a listener that knows, okay, here's what we're trying to do. So we have those towels and hats, right?
SPEAKER_00I might also throw some shirts in there.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. And um we had and basically we were like, great, let's sell these because we have a lot of people who want to buy them. And we need two tires for our car.
SPEAKER_00That's not why we're fucking selling. You make it sound like we don't have you making it sound like we're oh please give us more.
SPEAKER_01We're not saying please give us money, but I'm just saying it would be great if we could get new tires in our car.
SPEAKER_00Why did you have to say that?
SPEAKER_01Because we do.
SPEAKER_00It's not why we're selling our merch. We're selling our merch because people want it. We're not selling because we need too many tires, bro. Are you serious? Gee.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying, I think honesty is the best policy.
SPEAKER_00Are you just saying it's so it's like a free like what is it called? Girl math?
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, I mean, that's the whole point. And so, anyways, we're gonna sell this merch, but then I was like, well, we should we should make a little storefront where we could buy them or we could sell the merch and see how many people would like pre-order, and then we can go make exactly that amount, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or made or made to orders, basically.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, made to order. So we're gonna do that, and then I come downstairs today because I was like, Eddie, it's on his to-do list. Figure out the merch shop. Yeah, and then Eddie said that all the shops guys, the shop all the shops, I guess, take 30% of your earnings.
SPEAKER_00They just take too much of your earnings, and we basically we we obviously need a middleman, but we don't need a middleman.
SPEAKER_01I'll give them 10.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but it doesn't work that way. What we basically want, guys, is like I think Etsy, we might even do it on Etsy, like um we don't know what we're gonna do it on, really. Shop is a place called Shop that I guess is good.
SPEAKER_01I use shop all the time to track my stuff.
SPEAKER_00I like shop. I actually like shop.
SPEAKER_01But that's crazy. 30%. So if I go buy like a reformation dress, they keep 30% of it.
SPEAKER_00No, some one of the companies that I looked at was like, if you sell a sweater for $25, they take 15 and you make 10.
SPEAKER_01That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00What about the like there's money that went into them making that too, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01And they gotta buy tires for their car.
SPEAKER_00I almost want to delete the tires out there.
SPEAKER_01No! What those business owners got it?
SPEAKER_00Well, that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I'm like So then Eddie was like, let's just do it direct to the consumer. I'm like, what? So they're just gonna Venmo me?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or sell.
SPEAKER_01But I think that's like, I don't think people feel comfortable with that. I think they like the middleman to feel like you can like return or like I don't know.
SPEAKER_00We're not gonna do returns on towels. We're not also gonna be, we're not gonna be Costco.
SPEAKER_01Like, I know, but I I just think that we can't just it also their hats.
SPEAKER_00It's it's hard to return a fucking hat. Like, what do you mean you say you don't like the act?
SPEAKER_01I know, but I wonder if people just feel more comfortable.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's why we need the input. We need you guys to respond.
SPEAKER_01We need input. Yeah, listen, they they don't answer us.
SPEAKER_00I'm actually gonna clip that part and then you could post it so that people could.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, great.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, we love that. We love that. Yeah, yeah. Because we want to get because a lot of people have been asking for it. Yeah, and the plates, guys. I know you're gonna ask about the plates next, and they might be coming up for sale soon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Look out for them.
SPEAKER_01I'm looking at them right now. We had to make sure that the rest of the family was done who wanted them, and then we're gonna put them up for sale.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so look out for that. It'll probably be, we gotta make that a shock drop because you have a lot of people asking.
SPEAKER_01Well, I don't even know if we can do it. I mean, there's so many people in my DMs that I have said, I'll come back to you, so I might have to go back to them.
SPEAKER_00No, I think it should be a fair game for everybody now.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00Unless you know like the first person that messaged you.
SPEAKER_01Well, there was a couple people who messaged me like over and over and over again.
SPEAKER_00All right. Sounds good.
SPEAKER_01We I think we gotta get into the plate business.
SPEAKER_00I told you, but you don't want to do that.
SPEAKER_01How are we gonna get into the plate business?
SPEAKER_00I'll I'll rent a minivan every week and go to Mexico.
SPEAKER_01I bet you will. You just know, I think really, we need to become the manufacturers. You need to learn how to become a ceramicist.
SPEAKER_00Okay, guys. Thank you guys so much for tuning into the program. You really want me to make a plate?
SPEAKER_01I think you could do it, honey. I think you could do anything.
SPEAKER_00Let's look at this.
SPEAKER_01I think you could do absolutely anything.
SPEAKER_00You think literally somebody could make this plate? Like you think.
SPEAKER_01I think somebody made that plate.
SPEAKER_00No, I know. But I'm saying you think you think you can make this plate?
SPEAKER_01No, but I think you could.
SPEAKER_00How would I make this plate?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Go to color me mine every day.
SPEAKER_00No, but this is like yeah, no, this is this, or it's a good plate. I'm not sure I could make it.
SPEAKER_01I think you're right.
SPEAKER_00Because think about like, I could barely write my name.
SPEAKER_01It's so true.
SPEAKER_00Um, guys, we're gonna have dinner and walk our dogs. Thank you guys so much for uh listening.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much for listening.
SPEAKER_00Maddie, thank you so much for writing in. Did we get the other person's name?
SPEAKER_01Uh yes, her name is Miranda.
SPEAKER_00Hi, Miranda. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much, Maddie and Miranda. Look out for the two ends.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, look out for the plates, look out for the merch.
SPEAKER_01Email me mybigfatlatinowed at gmail.com.
SPEAKER_00One more question. What do you guys think about us changing this podcast name?
SPEAKER_01We already asked them, they didn't answer. Oh, fuck them. Okay, we're changing about changing the podcast name from Los Garcia to Club Garcia.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, Garcia Club.
SPEAKER_00The Garcia Club.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the Garcia Club.
SPEAKER_00Thank you guys so much.
SPEAKER_01Just let us know that you're listening.
SPEAKER_00Thank you guys so much.
