Recent college grads and soon to be former roommies, Liam and Rose spend their last night in college on Run On Sentence!
Y'all already know it's me, Jack, and I'm back with a repeat guest and a first-time guest. You already know me. It's Liam.
SPEAKER_01Hi, I'm Rose. I'm wearing sunglasses because it's really bright and I have like the beginning of a headache. Like, I'm not like a diva. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03And the divas are back with the 15th episode of Run on Sentence. You know what? And another thing. Well, we are in yet another different recording space. We are at Liam and Rose's college apartment. It is their last day living together, technically, right? No.
SPEAKER_04We're moving out the like 23rd. Yeah. So like another week. Oh.
SPEAKER_03Well, it's their like last day as well, it's Rose's last day as a college student. Their graduation is tomorrow. I'm up visiting with family for graduation. Liam is walking today or tomorrow, but then yeah. But I'm coming back. Yeah, he has one more semester, which I think we discussed the last time you were on the pod.
SPEAKER_01But we'll be living next to a house that just got busted. We're like a hundred something grams of cocaine, hundred grams of ketamine. They had a BMW, they had all the materials to package narcotics. I was like the apartment across the Okay.
SPEAKER_03Come on, trap house.
SPEAKER_04Wait, like here? Yeah. I'm it's like is the where my apartment is. Yeah, we're dogs. Um but a former student, she like lived there, not in the same apartment building, like like next door. And the Binghamton Police Department Instagram hosted like, we just busted this house for Oh, they're so proud.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they were so happy. It was like we've, like, what the fuck goes on here? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04It was it was pretty big news.
SPEAKER_03Well, let's jump into the first segment then, y'all. What's new, Jackie Pooh? Y'all got some pretty fun and exciting news that's happening for you right now. I mean, we already kind of spoiled it, but care to care to talk about what's going on in your lab.
SPEAKER_04Well, as you might have guessed, graduation is upon us.
SPEAKER_03Um wait, that's the that's the way here comes the bribe. Right, pomp and circumstance, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so that's exciting. I feel kind of like indifferent about it because I'm coming back next semester, so it's kind of like I'm just like doing it for the like for the for the pomp and circumstance. Exactly. Just for like the fact, like just why why not? Well, yeah, no, I I'm not there was no way I was gonna walk in the in the winter by myself because that would have just been strange. But yeah, I don't know how do you feel.
SPEAKER_01I feel like crazy.
SPEAKER_04I feel like a crack cat.
SPEAKER_01I just like I really like historically, like I've never enjoyed the passage of time. I really don't enjoy change. Um, I don't like when things are like uncertain.
SPEAKER_03I like my creature comforts, yes.
SPEAKER_01I like like okay, and in two months I come back and I do it all again. And like I don't really like being confronted with like, oh, from now on and forever, everything is like choices. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Girl, do I know what you mean? I just turned 26. Do I know what you mean? Yeah, and time don't move slowly and it just keeps going, you know. It is I it's a really strange time after college. I mean, you're different, you live in Brooklyn, so like there's more to do. It was weird to move back to Long Island where there's like nothing to not nothing to do, but it's like different things to do. I was talking about this with Liam on the way over here. Uh, our parents are at an Airbnb, and Liam came and picked me up, so we could come do this. And I was just talking about um what's new for me. Like I said last week, I went to the Brimfield Flea Market, which we will get into in the Hoarder Hall. Big bucking updates from that. But talking about um change, when I was at the Brimfield Flea Market, I was talking to a lot of uh the clothing vendors specifically. There are a lot of kids like 19 to like 28. Yeah. Um, so you know, the there's a lot of clothing scalpers and fucking results which I have talked about at nauseum in previous episodes, fuck resellers. I avoided the ones that were like clearly very disgusting energy that they're, you know, like the uh I can't even, I will actually get too fired up about it. But there were some really sweet ones though. They those people were actually in their like early 30s, you could tell. So like they were they they sold other things other than just clothes, like they uh they were really in it for the love of the game. And just like talking to all those people, I was like, oh my god, I miss community so much. I just miss like the the community that these people have, and I just like miss being at college and having my community there and my friends, and like fuck, I need to move out of my parents' house, you know what I mean? I was like, it was nice while it lasted, but like that like time period after college, like moving away from the community that you built and like trying to like transplant it somewhere else and like build a new one, really. But I mean it might be different for you. I don't know, you can speak on that with Brooklyn. I don't know how many people purchase was different because like so many of my friends from Purchase are in the city because they came from the city, which is so close. I don't know where your friends from here are going, but well, like Long Island, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but no, I think a lot of them are from the city too, which is nice. I feel like I honestly like not weirdly, that sounds really shady. Like I'm like strangely jealous of like people who are going back to Long Island because like I kind of am like enchanted with like the suburban lifestyle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but I get that the grass is always greener, like you always you take for granted what you have and you fantasize about something else.
SPEAKER_01So literally it's just that it's like it's just my parents' apartment is I sound like it's just like privileged. No no, that's that's not well, yeah. I'm very, very grateful. I'm very grateful that they're happy to have me home, that they're taking me back. Right.
SPEAKER_03Um it is the ultimate privilege to like live at home and save. It has like I am not scared to like move and go try something new because of like the foundation I have built from living at home and not paying rent. It is fucking fierce. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm hoping I don't know. I just like I feel like I just won't have any space to like free roam. Like, and also like my parents work from home. I'm just like really afraid of like feeling like oh, I'm like 14 again. Like that's my biggest fear, but I'm gonna really I feel like the community I built here will translate back to Brooklyn. All my people will be like pretty close to like you'll be back home soon enough. Like I'll come visit you. And I hopefully hopefully, hopefully, hopefully we'll get a job. Um so hopefully that also like you know, yeah, maybe does someone, you know. My mom is like, you're going to Columbia. Yeah, like not grad school. Like I'm going to like a program. Oh publishing.
SPEAKER_03But oh, I thought you just meant like on a trip. I was like, oh, okay. Flags.
SPEAKER_01Like I wish that I really would love to travel, but no money.
SPEAKER_03No money.
SPEAKER_01No money. So I'm doing that. I'm gonna network, I'm gonna wear my little business casual outfits, and hopefully executive realness.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Devil wears probably. Um, hopefully I'll get a job.
SPEAKER_03Love it. Liam, anything new with you besides graduation?
SPEAKER_04Well, honestly, um no, nothing is really new with me. I'm already getting like text messages from my coworkers from I've explained to like three separate coworkers at this point. I'm not coming home until next weekend, and I'm still getting messages. Hey, can you cover me tomorrow? No, no, I'm I'm not. Sorry, I'm five hours away. Yeah, so no, I can't. Like, please like let me rest. Let me let me be. That's really the only thing that's like new and not really exciting, but um, but I'm excited to get back to the grind, you know.
SPEAKER_03I'm so tired of the grind, sister. Uh sister, that is so cheap. Yeah, sister, I just can't do it anymore, but the grind never stops, I guess. Well, I already teased one thing that's new with me, but I'll get into that in a second. The biggest thing that's new with me, I had a fucking wig fiasco last night. Let me put you on. I changed my wig for the second time. I did it for the first time a few weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01I forgot. I didn't even think I just like forgot. I was just like, oh, that's your hair.
SPEAKER_03That's my hair. Yeah, you know, I it is pretty unclockable. It's fierce. It is um, it's kind of annoying though. Like, I wish I could take it on and off a lot easier. I wish there was some way to like clip it into the side hair that I have.
unknownIt's cool.
SPEAKER_03It's tape.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, so I've changed it once before already, and it went swimmingly. It was like no problem whatsoever. You have to take it off, you have to remove the tape from the wig, which you like, you spray like a wig adhesive remover on it, and you soak it in water for like 10 minutes, shave your head for the hair that's like regrown from the like empty area, and then shower normally, you know, and just like wash your head, and then rinse out the bowl of water that the hair is soaking in, pull the tape off once it's like um softened a little bit, and then shampoo and condition the wig, and then you add like a second layer of skin, it's called, or like a skin protector. It's like a clear serum you put on your scalp, let it dry, so it just creates like a barrier for sweat in between your head and the wig, uh, or the tape really. And then you put the tapes down and then you put the wig on. Some people do it with glue. The glue's a little bit more, it takes longer because you have to do like multiple layers and let it dry, and then multiple layers on the wig and let it dry, and then put it down. Like, I didn't want to go through all that. The tape is very easy, or at least it was the first time. Holy shit, did I jump through some fucking hoops yesterday? I did everything up until I shampooed and conditioned the wig, and then before, and then I put this second skin layer on, and then as I was brushing the wig out to put the tapes on and put it back in my head, I found like a little knot on the top, and I was like, fuck, and I couldn't get it out. And I was like, This is I was going to Krista's house, shout out Krista. We were watching the next episode of Drag Race, and I could not get this fucking knot out. And then as I'm trying to get it out, I call her and I'm like, You're a hairdresser, can you just she like I don't know if she's like considers herself a full-time, she's not a full-time hairdresser, but like I don't know if she would call herself uh like an official hairdresser, but she's like worked at her aunt's salon for years. So I was like, Do you have tools or like some like detangler that you can do this like while we watch the episode? And she was like, Yeah, yeah, bring it over. And then as I'm transporting it, I noticed there's another like huge matted knot on the back side, and I was like, What the fuck? Like, this did not happen last time. And she was able to get the big side knot out, but she couldn't get the top one out. I brought it home. I eventually figured out how to get it out. I just used a bunch of the wig adhesive remover and I sprayed it directly on the knot. She thinks it was glue. I mean, she thinks it was tape. She thinks a little piece of tape came off, or two little pieces came off and then got like knotted up because she was like, There's so much hair from like a full inch away, like reaching over and like caught up in this knot. She's like, I don't understand how that would have happened. So I didn't see a piece of glue come out, but I ripped so much of the hair out that I am sure it was like in there somewhere. But then once I got over that hurdle, I went to go put the tape on. I went to go pull the second side of the tape off to expose it to put the wing on my head. The whole tape just came completely off my head with the second layer of skin attached to it. So I was like, hey, what the fuck? This didn't happen last time. But then I was like, oh, I've had the second layer of skin on for hours. Like maybe it's supposed to be like right after you put it on.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03I did it two more times and it still happened both times. So I put it back on my head with tape with no second layer of skin. It's just on my head. So um I don't think it's like you don't have to use the thing. It's just like in case you have like sensitive skin, I don't really. I just bought it because they did it at the salon when I got the wig done. But it literally took me all day and mental anguish. But here we are, we live to tell the tale. But then I woke up this morning after like actually driving myself crazy about it last night. First thing I wake up to, my mom, who just doesn't knock on my door, she just walks into my room in the morning as if I'm awake and she knows I'm not awake, and she just goes, she starts talking. I'm in a dead sleep and she just starts talking to me, and always has to repeat herself because hi, I'm asleep. And she just bursts the door open and she goes, It's we're we're about a we're leaving in like an hour to come up here. And she was like, Oh, you you ended up figuring out the hair, like you put it on. I was like, Yeah, it's on my head, isn't it? Like, I hate stupid questions. And she goes, Oh, you put it back further than the last time. And I snapped. I was like, I don't want to fucking hear it. I've had it, like I was like, I went through enough with and she was like, Okay, okay, but it was the last thing I needed to hear. But besides the wig, what else is new with me? Brimfield flea market, Massachusetts. Fierce, if you are a thrifter, collector, vintage lover, and you live in New England or the tri-state area, May, July, September, Brimfield Flea Market happens three times a year. Run, don't walk. Maybe it is everything. There is just like too much to look at in the best way, though. Like you literally can it's I think always a Tuesday to a Saturday, and like even if you went every single day, sunup to sundown, like you still wouldn't see everything. It is phenomenal. I mean, we did go to pretty much every well, no, we went to all the booths that we could go to, but like certain, like there's different camps with different booths. So like three of the camps weren't even open the two days that we went, like they only open on the weekend days. Um, so like we went to all the ones that we could that were open, but like there were so many that weren't even there yet. There were booths in camps that we were at that weren't set up yet. So like you really there's endless things to see, endless things to buy. I was very proud of myself. I stayed like $20 under budget from what I brought, and we got some great finds. So unless there's anything new with y'all.
SPEAKER_01Wait, I just want to this isn't really anything new, but can we go this summer? Oh, yeah. Can we go in July?
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. It's sometime in July. I would maybe wait until September. July is wicked. It's so hot. That's when we went back. Yeah, and it's been one people.
SPEAKER_04I can attest, it was still really amazing.
SPEAKER_03It was really amazing, but it is hot, hot, hot. And I have to say, I heard a lot of the vendors that were there, you know, people were asking, like, oh, like I love your shop. Are you here the other two dates, you know, throughout the summer? Nine out of ten of the ones I heard talking about it, they were like, Yeah, I'll be back in September. We don't do July anymore because I want to kill myself in July. It's so hellishly hot. So it's still hopping, but like I think a lot of people just don't do July anymore because it is so brutal. Uh, but it is some people's grind. So like it is still very full and like plenty to do, uh, but it's not as insane and intense as it is in May and September. So the weather was great though. We had like perfect, gorgeous spring weather the first day we went, and then it rained from like nine to noon, like drizzled the second day. Um, but I had an umbrella, it was totally fine, and then it was like fall weather the rest of the day, so twas fierce, but let's segue into the hoarder hall and get into some of that. So I'll start off with some chotskis that I got because baby, when I tell you I was skipping out of this flea market with my finds for chotskis, well, for everything, but tchotchki specifically. I have been obsessed with fairy lamps, as we all know. I've talked about it at length. I got my first fairy lamp like two months ago from an antique store with Krista, and it wasn't What is a fairy lamp? A fairy lamp is for those who don't know, for those who don't know, um, uneducated. It's a little glass bowl that you put a candle in, and then there's like a glass shell that goes over the top of it. Okay, I do know there's different cuts, there's different designs, all different types, different colors, uh, different like cut patterns on the glass. So I have one that's like an oval, not oval shape, it's like a hive shape, and it has like a like diamond studded cut on the sides of it, and it's red. One of the first booths I went to on the first day, I found the the original like first make of a fairy lamp, which is the one that I originally like fell in love with and wanted to find first. I could have bought on like eBay or Etsy, but like I'm all about the thrill of the hunt, and I want to like find it in person, get that like high, and like walk out with it in my hands. And it just the one that I found first was not the exact one that I wanted, but I was totally happy with it, which is why I purchased it. But this one that I found at the flea, it was the top to the one that I wanted. It's like this amber red color, it's much larger, it has like a star sun cut on it, and then like columns. It is fucking beautiful, but it was only the top. So I haggled with the woman. She was trying to get $125 for it. I said, Mama, one of these full is like $150 to $175. You can go rot. Like, that's just not happening. So I talked around to 90, and then I bought the bottom for want. Like the bottom with the right color. It sounded like a cat. Oh, there is someone walking in this apartment.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that might be Matt, but I don't know. Hello. Oh, that was who is that?
SPEAKER_04Oh shit. I swear I locked it. Maybe so.
SPEAKER_03Well, I closed it behind you and I didn't lock it. Well, we have a super surprise special guest in the studio. We have uh we have a home invader in the studio just broke in the front door. Matt.
SPEAKER_00How's it going?
SPEAKER_03Welcome to the studio. Welcome to Run on Sentence. Uh this is the first time we're meeting. I'm Jack, I'm Liam's brother. Nice to meet you. What's good? Yeah, we are in the middle of the hoarder hall section of my pod, which is where we talk about any fun purchases you've made recently. Do you have any anything to add?
SPEAKER_00I don't buy many things these days. I try not to get addicted to material items. Only purchase foods or maybe flowers for someone graduating. Okay, frugal ceremony.
SPEAKER_03All right. Right, right. We love a penny pincher. I, however, do not fall into that category. I only spent like $275 at Brimfield, which is like pretty fierce for the amount of stuff that I got. Um, so I got the top to the fairy lamp that I wanted, and then I bought the base to the fairy lamp on eBay, and then I found another fairy lamp, different cut, different model. It's like it actually looks like a lamp. It's like a tall column base, and then it's like a mushroom lampshade top. Super cute. It's like a cranberry pink color. And then I got a rubber cat. It is really freaky. It's some like old Halloween prop, I think.
SPEAKER_01How big is it?
SPEAKER_03It's hold your hand out, Liam. Like that long. Oh wow. And like go like that. And like that tall. That's pretty big. Yeah, it was 20 bucks. It was just like too unique and odd not to get. It was like one of my last pass-throughs before we left, and I was like, I gotta grab that. Salem is like obsessed with it. He keeps trying to like suckle on it like it's his mother. Like, it's not anatomically correct whatsoever. Like, I don't know what he's trying to get at, but like he is obsessed with this thing. The last chat I got, literally, as we were walking out of the last field to go back to the car and go home. I was like, you know what? Let me look at this one last booth. I don't think I touched this one. I went in the back of it. There was a salt and pepper shaker collection on the back wall. I don't collect salt and pepper shakers, but there was a really cute set. It was two armchairs that were like this. It was like navy and like sun and moon celestial stars with a little globe that has little feet and arms and a little smiley face sitting in the chair. And the globe comes out of the chair, and it was two of them next to each other. The guy kind of fucked up though. I didn't pick up on it either. They both looked exactly the same, and usually a salt and pepper shaker is supposed to be like two different things that like fit a theme and go together, but they were exactly the same. And I was like, why do they both come out? Like, why do they come out of the chair if they're like why is there four pieces to this salt and pepper shaker? He he was like, I just want 20 for that. I was like, 20, fine. That's and then I looked it up. One of them goes for like 45.50. The chair is a shaker too. So like the chair and the globe is the set. So he sold me two sets. I don't know. It was a steal though. So a win is a win. Yeah. So one of them was basically free, and like one of them is like half off on what it goes for online.
SPEAKER_01So you should insert pictures. Oh, yeah. Okay. Sorry.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you so so you clearly don't watch the pod. Fake fan. Awesome. No, that's great.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. Sorry. I really thought I had like a revolutionary idea. Exposed.
SPEAKER_03Exposed. And then for VHS, I found another Twilight Zone episode. One booth had a shit ton of Twilight Zone episodes. Episodes on VHS, but I didn't need all of them, so I just bought one with one of my favorite episodes on it.
SPEAKER_01Did you know Rod Sterling is from here?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_01There's literally a statue of him feet away, and it says everyone has from this house. That's great. Everyone has to have a hometown. Mine is Binghamton.
SPEAKER_02Like fucking shady as hell.
SPEAKER_04We went to an escape room themed Twilight Zone themed. Twilight Zone themed. It was kind of ass. Okay.
SPEAKER_01But there was we also went to one that was like there's an evil dragon named Sassy. That one was really, really fun. And we were like, that was the most incredible experience ever. We have to go back. And so we went to the Twilight Zone one.
SPEAKER_02Not good.
SPEAKER_01And it was like you took this like thing to listen to, and it was like you thought it would be a clue, and it was playing like static. And you had to like un like decode the static.
SPEAKER_03It was like fierce. Yeah, so I got it's four episodes on the tape, and then I found Pee-Wee's Playhouse episodes one and two. Instant manifestation. I literally like last week set out a goal that I want to find the Pee-Wee's Playhouse season one box set on VHS. I mean, I'm I guess growing the collection now, but like I still want the box that it comes into, so like we'll see if I find that. But I also found Flea Wood Mac, Tango in the Night, uh live concert recording, I think in somewhere in Tampa. I found Jaws. I found Pet Cemetery, Stephen King. I do have it on DVD, so I didn't really need the VHS, but the box was really cute, which is like what I love the most about VHSs anyway. And the DVD that I have is widescreen, and I don't fuck with widescreen, especially on like a C AR TV. It looks ridiculous when it's not fitted to the screen. So I picked that up. I found the creature from the Black Lagoon and the original Frankenstein. And then major, major, major find. I've been looking for this for a couple of months now. I found an episode of Bill and I the Science Guy on VHS. There were two. I don't need two of them. I just wanted one for the nostalgia. Uh, but super excited about that. And then for DVDs, I only picked up one. I found Under the Dome season one on DVD. I have never watched it. It came highly recommended from an old coworker of mine. But that was it for DVDs and VHSs. For CDs, I found Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz. I found Teaser and the Fire Cat by Kat Stevens. I found the Rocky Horror Picture Show original movie cast recording. And I found Fleet Max greatest hits. So pretty solid. But that's kind of that's kind of all. That's a lot of shit that I bought this week. But just like a light. No, just like a light, you know, light list. But you guys buy anything fun recently?
SPEAKER_04I haven't bought a lot, but we recently went to Thrifty Shopier Shopper nearby. Shopier. Shopier. And I got I found the first season of Lost on DVD. And I just I was like, I don't know, everyone has said that's a good show that I've talked to about it. So I bought it because I was like, why not?
SPEAKER_03At least like the first couple of seasons. I hear it gets like really meta and like psycho and like hard to follow by the end, but like I heard the first few were classic. I haven't watched it yet, but I'll do that eventually.
SPEAKER_04Um and then I found the first Spider-Man movie on DVD, and I was feeling nostalgic. And I I think that we have it at home, but it's probably have it on VHS too. It's probably just like scratched as fuck, so I was like, Oh yeah, I might as well get it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, also, not that you care, because you don't really care about VHSs that much. I went down to the basement the other day to get a season of criminal minds to bring upstairs to watch on my new kitchen TV that I got. All of the VHSs from our childhood that are downstairs, not in the box. I don't know why our mom threw all the boxes away. They're just like loose in the drawers down there. Our cousin who lives in the basement, I guess, doesn't turn the humid dehumidifier on anymore. They're all covered in mold. The insides of them, like the tapes covered in mold. I mean, not that I plan on watching any of them. It's all like uh I have most of them anyway that I've purchased, like the ones that I really loved and like wanted the actual boxes of. I've since repurchased at the thrift, but like some of them are like the wiggles and like kids sing along, like you know, random shit that we it's it's not that devastating, but like still annoying.
SPEAKER_04Okay. That's less I thought you were talking about like like family videos.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's actually tea. I probably should move those. Yeah, yeah, those are also down there and I haven't like. I don't know what's talking about the wiggle. Oh my god, you're so right. Yeah, no, like our yeah, like our family cassettes, like our home movies. Yeah, you're so right. I should actually yeah. Yeah, right. Our childhood videos, like no, I'm talking about Kipper the dog. Like, yeah. Um, tea. Well, Rose, you pick picked up anything recently?
SPEAKER_01So recently a package came for me from D.
SPEAKER_03My package has arrived. My package has arrived. Do you guys know that video? No, I haven't showed you. I have to show you later. Her name is Glamorous Monique. She is a humped trans diva. She's like very Amanda Lepore coded, but like Amanda Lepore, if she like wasn't famous and like got even like crazier work done, like has the most like truly chilling, captivating Instagram presence. But there's a video of her just like up in the camera, like camera above her head, like this high, and she's like, My package has arrived, my package has arrived. I hold the cherry on my package has arrived. Okay, whatever. Anyway, continue. You got a package.
SPEAKER_01Genuinely me, like when my package has arrived. And so anyway, this package came from Depop for me. And it was a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, like handkerchief ham brown midi skirt, um, with like pink florals and then the white, and then also like white outlines of flowers like overlaid on the pink, like kind of like painted flower. Um, and it's just really nice. I really like one of my favorite things to wear, especially when it's warm, is a colorful midi skirt with like a fun print, with like a nice, like just like a plain tank top and like a good shoe. Like, uh just a good shoe. Just a good shoe. And then I also got this really so basically my dream is like a really cute, like maybe like one inch heel hair, maybe two inch. Okay. One inch like a block, and then like two, which I really don't like block heels. I'm sorry. I think they're real I think that and I'm seeing so many heels because it's graduation time. I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but I suppose I am yucking someone's yum. I hate I hate, I hate like a block high heel with just like a single like a block strap around the toe and then a block strap at the ankle. Like what is that? Like it's so I'm sorry. I sound really like mean, and I I guess I am it's your opinion.
SPEAKER_03I like I'm up for interpretation, you know.
SPEAKER_01Just like let's have like more fun with our shoes.
SPEAKER_03Like, I just like I feel that way about the ballet flat trend. Oh, I've struck a nerve. I just like don't get it with s with most outfits. I think it like has its place, but like okay, well I've struck a chord on this.
SPEAKER_01We should stop filming. Um no, I can't, you know, I can't really I can't like I'm not gonna budge on this one. You know what? Speak your truth. You know, I respect your opinion as I hope people respect my.
SPEAKER_03That's also a shoe I can't wear, so it's like who cares what I say. I mean, I guess I can wear one. I guess I can wear one. It would look a little Louis the Fourteenth-ish, I guess, but like, yeah, I guess it would look whatever you want.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, anyway, yeah, but I got this like okay, so my dream a nice strappy gold, like uh just like a beautiful gold strappy sandal. But one, I have like kind of ugly toes. I had a toe incident where my left big toenail came off for the second time in my life.
SPEAKER_03We are toe trauma sisters in this girl. We are locked in. My right big toenail fell off my senior year of college actually. I dropped this here computer guillotine style on that band. I'm not gonna insert pictures because the audience will vomit. It turned into an actual zombie toe.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm sure because this time nothing dropped on my toe. This time it's a long story. I don't want to get into it. But in eighth grade, when I lost my toenail, Valentine's Day. I was at my friend's house, we were just like hanging out. She had like a wooden chair, like a wooden dining, and we were just, I don't know, we were like jumping around. I don't really know what we were getting up.
SPEAKER_03Horsing around, yeah, tomfoolery, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Horsing around and the toe fell. That's not the top. The chair fell on my fucking toe. Guillotine style. And it turned into like blue, like midnight blue.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01And also when I thought it had finally like when it when I was like, okay, maybe it's getting better before it took a week to fall off. And before it fell off, I was like, it was feeling better. I couldn't walk for a week. I was walking around, I went to the Urban Outfitters on Atlantic Avenue, which I don't think exists anymore. Yeah. And I was with my mom, and I was like, mom, like my shoe, like I something feels weird with my toe. Like it feels wet. Like I don't know, like something's wrong. And then I took it.
SPEAKER_03I know this tea, girl. I know this tea.
SPEAKER_01I take we got outside of the urban outfitters, we're walking down Atlantic Avenue. I take off my Adidas Stan Smith with the green one.
SPEAKER_03Of course.
SPEAKER_01And my white was it 20 sock 14? It was 2018. So I was a little bit more.
SPEAKER_03Well, 2014 to 2018. Yes. Yeah, the Stan Smith.
SPEAKER_01And my whole foot, my white sock had turned red, basically up to my heel. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I was same thing happened to me. I was wearing slides and Birkinstocks to class like for two weeks before it fell off because my toe was so big and full of blood that I couldn't fit it into a shoe.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then as I was in my scarecrow costume on Halloween, pregame done, taking final piss, leaving my apartment is full of people. We're like all ready to go out and party. And as we're like going to walk out the door, I was like, it's something's wrong. I felt it like release. And I was like, I can still feel feeling. I was like, I need to go take care of myself. One, I need to go drain my toe. And I was in the bathroom for like 10 minutes sucking out the blood, not sucking out the blood, vampire style, happy Halloween. No, like draining this toe. But it was kind of fierce because then I could wear boots that went with the outfit after that. So it was kind of meant to be.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's really yeah. I know the exact feeling you're talking about. I can remember the feeling to this day of what I felt like. I don't need to get into it.
SPEAKER_03Well, it's like popping a blister, sort of, you know what I mean? Like that. Well, but like on a much larger scale.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, I'm getting too graphic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're not. I'll show you pictures after.
SPEAKER_01It was really, really horrifying. I'm sure I had an identical looking.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So like toe trauma aside, any other fun purchases. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm a gold girl. I love my gold jewelry. My dream is a beautiful gold, sleek, strappy stiletto, not too high sandal, like kind of like early 2000s vibes, metallic gold. And I found a similar, basically same vibe, but just like small one inch, like wide block heel, which I was like, that will be perfect for Matt's sister's wedding in August because it's in Yosemite and it's like gonna be like I can't be walking around in like a stiletto heel. I lowballed her crazy. I lowballed her um like $15 below the price. So it was like $10. And she accepted it. I was like, what the hell? But then when they came, they were like stretched out in like a really weird way.
SPEAKER_02She got that big fee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And like as someone with like pretty big feet myself, like it was like, oh, like big feet.
SPEAKER_02Oh big foot.
SPEAKER_01It was kind of disappointing, but I know, anyways, that I could probably find a cuter shoe. Like it wasn't my dream shoe. I was like, this is pretty good for like a deep ten dollar shoe.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_01But it just is like encouraging me to keep um keep keep the dream to keep the dream alive.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. To keep fighting, keep buying shoes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Liam really gets mad when I buy things.
SPEAKER_03Specifically shoes.
SPEAKER_04It's like I ultimately like when I when I do get upset, it's like the like at the end of the day, it's just like I love to be annoyed about anything. So it's like not that deep, but when I tell you, like every day, I every day I come home, there is a package, and it's four rows. Like, it's four rows.
SPEAKER_03Like, and I'm sure it is specifically for shoes. I will say when I walked into this apartment for the first time just today, I walked up the stairs and I went, Oh, it's like a famous footwear up in this bench. There are so many shoes outside this door. It is wild. I'm telling you something. Yeah. Please.
SPEAKER_01Most of my shoes are in my room.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so that's just a fraction of the collection?
SPEAKER_01Most, but like I would say right now, a good six pairs of shoes are in my room.
SPEAKER_03Okay. But well, there's probably 15 pairs out in the hall, though. Not just yours, like collectively, with like all the shoes that are out there, but like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm ashamed.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think that wraps up the hoarder hall. So let's get into the content corner. I have no new TV shows or movies that I watched this week. I was busy up in Brimfield. I wasn't really watching anything. I watched Drag Race, obviously, with Krista, but I'm not going to debrief that episode without her. I have been playing Fallout 4 a lot. Been uh very obsessed on the Switch. I started reading The Retreat, which was in the Hoarder Hall a couple of episodes ago. It's pretty good so far. It's a little novella, it's like 170 pages. I'll be done with it pretty soon. And for my music, I didn't listen to as much music as I thought I was going to this week. I figured I would, you know, driving up here to come see you guys. It's like a five hour, it took us like five hours. It should have only taken us four, but traffic was crazy. And like driving up to Brimfield and everything, I figured I would be listening to a lot of music, but my R father just like doesn't know our father. Our father, who are not here. He's at the Airbnb. Um, he just like can't function in the vehicle with the phone. Like he can't, he can't just like let me have the phone plugged in playing music with the map going. He like needs to have his map on his phone also, not plugged into the car, and then like fucking with my map to like see how it differs from his map and like compare the two and see which one's better, and then he disconnects my phone and like totally fucks everything up, and then I'm just like, oh you know, I don't even want to listen to the music. So like I had my switch with me, and I was just like, you know what, you can drive in silence and I'm gonna play my game and you can fucking deal with it yourself.
SPEAKER_01So my dad wanted to know what level I forget the phrasing he used. He wanted to know like what type of cop your dad was. He was asking at dinner.
SPEAKER_03He did NYPD for 10 years, he did just like a local precinct when we moved further out on Long Island for an he said another 10 years, he did 30 years total. He said it was 10 NYPD, 10 in this other precinct, and then 10 Marine Bureau, which is like the most lit like job to have as a cop, in my opinion. I was like, he the amount of times my dad has tried to get me to become a cop is ridiculous. I'm like, hi, you raised me. Do you know me? You literally sent me to art school and you want me to you want me to become a cop. Back the blue. Back the blue, like please. Come on. So the like I cannot even count how many times it's been like, you should just take the test, like just to have in your back pocket. Baby, what back pocket? Like, that's just not happening. So it's probably something like But I've always said if I were to ever become a cop, which is just like not a possibility, I would only do it if I can guarantee having the job that he had when he finished, because it was the T. He all he did, it was on Fire Island. So, like, all he did was drive quads on the beach in the summer. In the winter, he was like tooling around on boats on the water, like waiting for like a lost kayaker distress signal, and like watching movies all day on the boat. I remember growing up, he would go to the library, he would take out like a stack of movies, take it to work two days later, come home with the stack, and he'd be like, I have to go return these. I'm like, What do you mean you have to go return them? He's like, I watched them all. You know, like the middle of winter when there's nothing to do, they would like just watch movies all day on their boat, just floating in the water. Film club. Film club. Like, that's so funny. When he was there, I think like the biggest calls he had were like noise complaints for like gay circuit parties on Fire Island, like the gays were being too loud. He's like, Oh, the things I pulled up on at those parties. I'm like, Yeah, girl, I can imagine. Yeah, like it's so crazy. Mind you, I've never been to Fire Island. Really? He has two gay sons and he's never taken us to Fire Island, like his stomping grounds.
SPEAKER_01When I was when I was little, there was this like chapter book I loved that was like about this like family that was very like quirky and they had gay dads, and every summer they went to Fire Island. Oh, and it really it was like a woke chapter book, but it really enamored me with Fire Island, but I've never been. But also, just while I'm thinking of my dad talking about your dad, like all all respectful, but he like then he was like, Wait, I want to show them this meme.
SPEAKER_04I was like, uh I was like, I don't think like your parents are like Brooklyn liberals, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Our parents are Long Island Trump country red dick riders, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the meme that he pulled up on his phone was like this guy, it was like it was stupid. It was like, I love that he made the gas prices go from like blah blah blah to blah blah blah. Like he's so amazing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that wouldn't have gone down well at the table at all.
SPEAKER_01He was like, and my dad was messing, he was like trying to get me to get upset because I've said like, oh, it would be really nice if like our families could meet, like that would be really nice. And my dad like riles me up by being like, I'm gonna be like obnoxious. And he was like, I would never talk politics. He's like, I don't talk politics with anyone. It's like it is genuinely all he talks about.
SPEAKER_03Hey, so you're lying.
SPEAKER_01It's actually like gain some like self-reflection. I'm not sure what you're on about. Anyway, sorry, that was like a tangent.
SPEAKER_03No, I got that. It is actually scary though. Like, are the older generation's obsession with politics? Like, I understand like everyone should be concerned with it and think about it a little bit, but like holy shit, the polarization of their generation with politics, like when they pick a side and they will go to the grave for that side. Mom and dad in the car right up here today. He listens to AM radio in the car a lot, which is like specifically, it's like you know, you listen to like uh like the Mets game, like, and they it's like you know, it's pretty much just like uh talk shows and stuff like that. And they he always listens to this one like douchebag political, like right-wing commentator with hey you know, like with the bucket, like I don't know, he just sounds like insane, and he was like flipping through channels while we were driving up. And mom goes, Oh, what happened to our friend? Like, you turned our friend our friend, like they get so invested in like these like insane shock media channels.
SPEAKER_01The first time I was like really exposed to Fox News for like long periods of time, not just like clips and our house. Well, yeah, but like when I when we went on the trip together in sophomore year and it was playing in the background like the whole trip, and I was just like vaguely paying attention, but there was was this one really funny bit where it's like one, I can't believe this is like prime time.
SPEAKER_03I know that means all Fox News. It's like sorry, what are we talking about?
SPEAKER_01It was like it was like Sleepy Joe stumbles up the stairs.
SPEAKER_03Like, I can't really like how about Mitch McConnell shit his diaper in the chambers today? Like, it's like, yeah, what are we talking about? Like, yeah, it's fucked up. I know it's insane. I beg them to stop watching the news. I'm very like anti-government. I fucking hate the left and the right.
SPEAKER_01I think I'm graduating with a political science degree.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Work girl.
SPEAKER_01Well, no, but I get it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like I just think they're all snakes, they're all liars, they're all in it for the money. Well, yeah, they all want power. They I don't you know, like they don't have the American like no politician who has any like actual sway or say actually cares about the American people. Yeah, and we need to like completely refresh the
SPEAKER_01blueprint and like but I I just don't know how that's gonna happen but I think we don't need to get on I don't need to go down this rabbit hole yeah actually but there is one really cool uh I'm like completely blinking on his name right now in Michigan he's like been on he's like actually engaging with like left wing media and like I hate to be like oh Gen Z like media but like I don't know I do feel like the people to the left who are starting to be willing to engage with other like other narratives yeah actually like leftism and like not this like centrist like weird like liberalism where it's just like oh let's all just like be like a little conservative yeah and so that gives me like a little bit of hope because I feel like we're all kind of feeling like that and it's like something has like something's gotta give like yeah we need something needs to shake up.
SPEAKER_03Anyway so not that I was listening to any music in the car we were just listening to I am radio but some music that I've been listening to recently heavy in my rotation is Words by Big Thief. Been having a big uh renaissance for them in my music catalog.
SPEAKER_04I wore a big thief shirt like once to this it's called the food clock on Bingham it's like anybody who's like ever had a fucking nose piercing is like there. Yeah and I like this one guy who like cooks in the kitchen like was like oh like hey big thief guy like he doesn't even know my name I'm like he just fucking anyway.
SPEAKER_03Well yes words by big thief deep dive by after classic come on we're in an after loving household here at the moment and yeah big big after fans I've also been bumping GSK by Squid I don't know if y'all listen to Squid they are fire. I know Squid but I don't know like the songs by name yeah GSK is just it's very like their quintessential sound it's they're very I've talked about them before like B52s meets Beastie Boys meets like the talking heads they're fierce and and a little bit just saying shit over here. Just saying shit and to round out my music the my my Spotify DJ thinks that this is like my favorite song of all time because anytime I put the Spotify DJ on this is the first song that plays and it's always like this has been heavier in your road like let's play some of your favorite hits for the last couple of weeks it's only in my favorite hits because you play it all the time like I I never put this song on of my own volition. I love it. And I it's Apple Charlie XEX but the Japanese house remix so fire.
SPEAKER_01Wait can I ask you a question please um it would be an honor.
SPEAKER_03Did you do the um what was it called the like Spotify year oh yes yes yes yeah my first I so I joined Spotify I think it was January 21st 2016 and the first song I ever listened to was Moondust by James Young big throwback just triggered something in you. Yeah James Young pretty niche artist I would say he never really blew up I saw him open for Vance Joy in 2016 at Webster Hall. It was the first like adult concert I ever went to dad took me like first week of October freshman year of high school and everyone there I felt so piss and like so old everyone there like thought I was in like my late teens early 20s alone and then dad was like behind me and they thought he was just like some guy there. I was like this is my dad and they were like oh that's cool you like went to a concert with your dad I was like well yeah like I'm like 16 like he had to drive me and they were like you're 16 years old and I was like maybe it looked like maybe that's not the flex I thought I thought it was a flex at the time. I guess I just looked haggard and old at 16. Oh you know what I mean like it was a hard 16 yeah but uh yeah Vance Joy fierce but I guess dad hadn't been to a concert in forever so like James Young came out on stage opened and then when he finished I was like oh that was awesome all right what do you want to get for dinner I was like what are you talking about and he was like that's that's it I was like that wasn't Vance Joy. I literally played you like all his music on the car right here and he didn't sing one of those songs like what is wrong with you and he was like oh that guy was awesome though I would have been happy if it was just that and then he became obsessed with James Young after that so and Shocker my most played artist of all time is the 1975 who would have thought I've listened to I think it was the 1900 minutes of them wow yeah wow so it's amazing shocker I know my most listened to song was Uproar my Lowe I almost just spit this beer all in this new microphone bitch. Okay because did you join Spotify in 2018?
SPEAKER_01No I joined Spotify 2015. Okay and my first listened to song it was like zombies it was like some indie like I was doing this play and like we had to like dance to this song and that's why I downloaded Spotify to listen to the song but I listened to it I was like wait this is kind of like what was I listening to in fifth grade um uproar the lore behind that basically me and my best friend Skylar we went to Paris like junior year of high school because our school had all this like scholarship money for this um like abroad program for summer. So it was basically like a free Paris trip what was a public high school free yeah watch it some free Paris right before right after COVID so it was like crazy vibe like we just had a year of quarantine school or Zoom school. So we watched on the plane we watched the movie Book Smart. Okay which I'd already seen but watching it on the plane to this experience that we were like this is gonna be like it was not the craziest experience of our life but at the time it was like this is like yeah this like we have to like we're in a movie right now. Yeah that was the vibe and we listened or we watched Book Smart and the song in it there's like this one scene where Uproar plays and we were like yes like song of the summer and we listened to Uproar.
SPEAKER_03I mean it fucking was Uproar Mo Bamba and Sicko Mode ran purchase college's nightlife for a full year you listen to it something comes over you like I don't know like it's it yes I agree I it's a beautiful beautiful song and um we listened to it every single day on the Paris metro we shared we each had an airpod and we had this like long ass walk through this metro station and we would for some reason listen to Uproar on loop to like amp ourselves up for the deck.
SPEAKER_01And like in Paris listening to Uproar and being like fat like I don't know we're living the life it was your Lizzie McGuire movie moment.
SPEAKER_03It really was and instead of what dreams are made of it was uproar and instead of Italy it was Paris. Exactly second time the Paris Metro has been mentioned on the pod in the last three weeks. Wow that's kind of psychotic yeah yeah Abby was on the podcast shout out girl a couple of weeks ago she just went to Paris and her cousin got fined $75 for putting her feet up on the seats which is a beautification law in Paris.
SPEAKER_01You are not allowed to put your feet up to get a fine in Toronto my like uncle figure um he got fined for spitting on the street because it's like a beautiful crazy and they're he was like I'm not spitting I'm expectorating and the cop didn't like that and fined him like more like awesome yeah um which like yeah dickhead tags yeah but yeah and then I just now I listen to Uproar anytime anytime I'm feeling like any like it's like my song where if I'm feeling like a negative emotion it's like it takes you out of it.
SPEAKER_03I get that yeah I don't know if I have that song I have a song that I listen to when I want to kill myself and that's ribs by Lord. Speaking of the passage of time and not wanting things to change put on ribs and you will want to jump off a building like that crying in the club to ribs girl well why you have the mic uh well first quickly what was your most listened to artist of all time I'm not gonna share that girl I'm not sharing that girl I'm not sharing because I'm just not going to you cannot leave us hanging like that between me and my Spotify I was a different person is it like a canceled artist?
SPEAKER_01No not canceled it's James Charles yes James it's Morgan Wallin Oh my god it's not Graham it's not it's not I don't even want to joke about that actually I take it back um it's just don't joke about that in middle school like I'm not like that ashamed I can share I don't want to oh my god so I'm gonna go on with my content okay yes so yeah continue Matt and I have one episode left of the Sopranos oh baby yeah what a treat first watch through yes uh the penultimate episode was like insane and I hear so much about the last episode and I'm like I don't even know what could top that don't tell me I mean it's really not insane yeah but it's fire. Okay I'm really excited I'm I've been I've gotten so into the world of the Sopranos. I found out the other day that my favorite professor he went to high school with Edie Falco oh period Edie Falco went to Purchase shout out acting department oh she her and Stanley Tucci were in the same graduating class I was just talking about Stanley Tucci at dinner with my parents purchase turns out some phenomenal actors so crazy my parents were like I told them the Edie Falco story like we saw her on Broadway with Stanley Tucci.
SPEAKER_03Yeah that's just weird sorry yeah anyway so and uh what's her name I almost just said Pontius Pilot Jesus Christ yeah I don't um oh my god the bitch on White Lotus the last season of White Lotus oh Leslie Bibb no well actually two of the cast members from the last season of White Lotus were purchase alums one of them who played the daughter she was an opera student shout out girl I don't know your name uh but Harker Posey Harker not Ponchas Pilot Parker Posey PP PP yeah double alliteration yeah PP flipping around DD mega doo doo so Purchase Pilot Pontius Pilot so anyway the Sopranos yes phenomenal show like insane like it like I feel like it transports me to another world like it's the writing so so good like it's just like a phenomenal show like in every way it's life changing it's I don't I don't like the violence like we we get really anxious watching it like we have to I get that way with succession I never finished succession because I like the amount of times I had to stop episodes and give myself like 10 minutes before I could continue like it before because I like you know it's about to happen I'm like holy shit I can't watch this scene right now because it's going to be so uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_01Yeah it's like really yeah like visceral violence and it's like it and like when you're not expecting someone to die and then they do.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01We can you should talk about the boys. We've been watching the boys um because it's not real I'm like passively watching I'm mostly playing the crossword while we watch but it's like um you're just there. Okay. I have to this isn't something I'm currently reading but I read it like five times this semester because I wrote my thesis on it. My year of rest and relaxation by Otessa Moshweg. Yeah don't know it I'll look it up so you should really people hate it. People hate it but well you're not selling it very well people hate it but it's like an insane book and it reading it will like change it changed the way I kind of viewed things. Yeah viewed like the world or like what specifically well I like my thesis was about how it's like a portrait of late capitalism.
SPEAKER_03I don't want to comment like that soapbox but well I mean that kind of like piggybacks off of what we were talking about before but yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's it's just like so good and I emailed her and she emailed me back.
SPEAKER_03Oh pen pals.
SPEAKER_01Literally pen pals. Moshfig if you're watching yes I love you.
SPEAKER_03You should email her the link to those and then she could promote us.
SPEAKER_01Um and then things I'm reading I'm currently reading the loneliness of Sonia and Sonny or Sonny and Sonia. I can't remember which one it is really good really good and then songs okay I'm gonna get on the big thief bandwagon. Let's go I've been like I guess just like trying to like emotionally destroy myself and think about the passage of time I've been listening to change like on loop and then something I got actually I think we love like self-harm like genuinely self-harm yeah yeah and like that's Sufi and Stevens for me. I've I literally talked about it a couple episodes ago like if I really want to be down bad visions of Gideon the noose is like close behind like yeah yeah I listened when I was really in a mood the other day I listened to Jeff Buckley and I sobbed. That was before your um recital and it really like put me in an interesting mood for that a really sulken mood to like when you sang like the not the Stephen Sondheim song the one after um after that was the last set that I you sang a song by after you sang deep deep dive by after like being alive being alive yeah when Liam sang being alive I started crying and I was the only one crying in the audience because it wasn't really the vibe of the function but oh yeah you left that out of your what's new he also did his senior recital yeah that's I did that.
SPEAKER_04Sang for an hour straight with only piano it was insane to do it you do go like into a trance though and like you don't it doesn't feel as long as it is it was like I don't want to speak for him I'm speaking for myself but yeah like it was it was definitely I got through the first half and it felt like like whoa that was insanely quick yeah and like a lot and then it was like I then I like went to my like voice professor's like office to just like like drink water and like kind of like do some like exercises to like keep myself like in the moment and I was kind of and then like I got to the point I was alright I need like I don't care that I said I need 10 minutes like it's been three and I'm ready like let's go. But then I had to wait and it was like strange. But yeah no that went that went well I think yeah um but it is it was like it felt like when it was over I was like okay that was like I feel like nothing just happened. Yeah I know like I was like I need to be like I was like let's I was like let's go like let's go let's go girl like let's go but yeah it was amazing it was like truly like I it I it was real and not to like get too like corny but I was like wow like that's like my best friend yeah no mom and dad came home from it and they were like it was actually so good.
SPEAKER_03I I always hate the actually where it's like oh when I sent like my aunt a picture of my wig she was like wow it actually looks so good and I was like hey so you were anticipating it looking the fool thank you do you know what became like an inside joke with me and my friend because it happened to me so many times four people in high school said to me wow you're actually funny it was like really like I'm glad the impression is like that I'm just like the worst person in the room yeah most unfunny person in the room awesome great um songs yes changed by Big Thief this is like a little trick I found on Instagram reels like um but someone said that anytime they need to get stuff done they listen to purple hat by Sophie Tucker who I actually saw live at GovBall they're like very very like millennial vibes but um purple hat is like purple hat cheeta print dancing on the people like and it's like it's like very I think it's like it's like just like this constant beat and it's really like kind of I'm like immediately I thought of the Veronicas but like the Veronicas are a little more tasteful it's like you go ooh ooh you go ah ah la la la la la la la la is it not like I based on that I can't tell okay but yeah it goes a little something like yeah I wouldn't listen to it if I wasn't like in the trenches of senior it is like yeah could not do anything. I put myself in this like weird see-through silent noise canceling booth in one of the rooms in the library where everyone can see you so it's like pressure to work and I listened to that and I like wrote the worst paper of my life and yeah but it was really helpful for getting stuff done I used to listen to shout out Liv she put me on to both these things Coffinity was a website that played coffee shop noises so just like background vocals and like glass clinking and like chairs squeaking like people getting up and like moving you could do like coffee shop you could do like um like library coffee shop like specifically so like I don't know and so it's just like a smr and then also the Harry Potter soundtracks.
SPEAKER_01The soundtrack is yeah Matt list it just made you feel very scholarly and like you know I was like in Hogwarts doing my homework it was it was too Matt says he listens to the revenant soundtrack when he needs to get things done with a crazy my other song on the low by Hope Sandoval and the warm oh my god I've like I make up words in my head it's either interventions or inventions inventions and then also I will throw in secrets from a girl who's seen it all by Lord oh girl yeah girl solar power is too good it's like it's not really slept on she's huge but that album I feel like gets not as much love as it deserves I would agree I think it's her most like overlooked album well yeah I think Virgin definitely got more press than I feel like Virgin was huge.
SPEAKER_03Virgin was pretty big yeah like she didn't tour for yeah you're right you know that whole album Stoned at the Now Salon Mood Ring Mood Ring is dare I say one of the best songs ever of the No Well possibly it's in my it definitely in my top 50.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say Mood Ring but Secrets from a girl who's seen it all is like closer to my life at the moment I haven't seen it all by any means.
SPEAKER_04And that's like also Ribs by Lord we brought up already but like same band yeah all right Liam take it away honestly I'm gonna be like kind of boring um I've had to like study for my fucking music history final um so in the past like week um it really has not been anything interesting like shout out Mozart shout out Heinen Bach um Beethoven was a not on this um thankfully honestly um yeah shout out sonataform uh fuck that is sonata okay is sonata form like a style of like music it's basically like you know how in like pop music there's like the verse and the chorus and the refrain and like it's like this pattern that like you pick up on really easily it was like that for like 17th century instrumental music where like oh like here's like this theme and then like they do a little like mashup and then they go to another theme and then the first theme comes back in like the second half of it it was like it was just like oh i see yeah but anyway that's kind of like honestly I really that's a oh my god well I'm sorry wait that's music shows um so Rose and I have been well to do a throwback we watched this show on Amazon Prime Cherry where what was it called I don't even know what it was called the main character it was called Cherry wait I'll find it while you talk um so the main character her name is Cherry she I can't even remember the time we hung out with our friend Kylie and we and for the whole two hour hangout it just was us telling her the plot of the whole first season of this stupid fucking show.
SPEAKER_03I love doing that to people like unnecessarily just like walking them through every like thinking you're gonna get into like a quick synopsis of a show and then you start talking about like the character's blood type and like literally every single detail where it's like well now you don't actually have to you start to say something and then you're like well this needs content.
SPEAKER_04Right right but okay it was called the girlfriend it was on Amazon Prime and it centers around Cherry who is Cherry um she's like a real estate agent and British British yeah so British so so British.
SPEAKER_01I forgot she starts dating this guy he's like perfect vibes he's a doctor uh he has a mother they have like mommy issue dynamic um mommy issues cherry's lying about some things about her life I can't remember what they are but they're pretty strange well she steals this mom's bracelet and that's like they start having beef I don't know but then there's like this whole series of like like the mom kind of like almost lets her drown at one point like there's so much going on and then does she kill the mom? I don't
SPEAKER_03See, we're doing the thing that we talked about. Like you're giving away the whole bottom.
SPEAKER_04So basically, no, yeah, no. Like there's no nobody dies. No. Yeah, so watch it. Because honestly, it's a it's a train. No, it's a roller coaster, not a train ride. A train wreck. A train wreck and a roller coaster. Um but then more recently, Rose and I have been watching The Boys, which is like about I it's like very popular. It's on Amazon.
SPEAKER_03But he has been trying very hard to get me to watch it.
SPEAKER_04Okay. I don't like and that's a lie because she has repeatedly said that she likes it.
SPEAKER_01Um I haven't said that I like it. I beg Liam to watch it with me because I want to watch a show with a friend. But I'm not like I'm just not a superhero girl.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04It centers it centers like around superheroes, but it's like it's kind of like a it's like a critique of like like big business and like Christian nationalism.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, love.
SPEAKER_04But it's always kind of strange to watch something like a show like that on a big like corporate like Amazon Prime.
SPEAKER_01The boys came out in 2019. They have a plot about a plane hijacking and it's like the Islamic State, and like it's really like gauche because it's like it's not 2001.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What are we doing? I don't know. Sorry. I'm getting a little bit controversial, but I just think it's like kind of weird. It's like you couldn't have thought of anything more current, like any more current threat, like existential threats. It's just like I just find it strange, and it's like quite I don't it's just like gauche.
SPEAKER_04Like there are some attempts made at like critiques of you know society that could be more refined. But yeah, that's kind of it. I feel like that's what we've been watching, and I haven't really listened to a a lot of music lately. You have a favorite song like that comes to mind at the moment. Like genuinely, this sounds like stupid, but I've been listening to um Manon by Massine. Okay. Um fermant les yeux. I don't know, give it a listen. Yeah, okay. Cut it, just cut it, just vote. Just vote, just vote. Um like genuinely. I don't know. I don't really don't know what to say. Well, we I've also been listening to a lot of scouse rap at the um at the benevolence of Rose. Girl who sometimes SD kid.
SPEAKER_01Um also the song Murticide, so good. Just like a scouse accent and a beat.
SPEAKER_03Murdocide.
SPEAKER_01Murdocide.
SPEAKER_03I think that's all we have time for today. We have just been going and going and going, and we could keep running on and on and on, but we have to go celebrate their last night of college. SPEAKER_01I wasn't wearing mascara, and I'm sorry. Goodbye. Got it.
SPEAKER_02You know what? And another thing.
