SPEAKER_06It was fun.
SPEAKER_04Wow. I would text it in our um No Spencer DD chat that the fuck. You know this exists. I know it exists.
SPEAKER_01I don't like to think of when it's you encouraged it. I encouraged it for planning. Every time I hear it was used for not planning, I'm like, oh it is planning.
SPEAKER_05All I said was it for pleasure.
SPEAKER_04We only used it for planning. All I said was that I was nervous to go to Plutopolis.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Because I knew some shit was gonna go down. Yeah, we could not let it spend.

SPEAKER_05Oh my gosh. I don't uh truly, I don't know why that maybe because I'm already angry today, but like that was so enraging. I like like because at first I was like, oh, I know that he's just that's what gaslighting is. But I I knew that you were going through this thing of like, I can't think about how bad it is, but it was just like this. Yeah. With like hearing how bad it was, and then you weren't actually saying anything like specific. It was just like, oh, it's that damn had to be.
SPEAKER_00We got into the specific. I Janice told you exactly what was going on with the plague.
SPEAKER_04And then we were so not true. You are gaslighting me. We were standing on the hill looking at the plague consume the city. Janice puts a plague mask on and says you guys are fine.
SPEAKER_03Talk about a yeah, I was saying, talk about a bad host. And Shane such a good host.
SPEAKER_04That's what that's what it was, as you were being a bad host.

SPEAKER_03That's like you inviting someone over and there's like garbage literally everywhere. Janice was just doing a bit.

SPEAKER_01It was also so funny after last episode, every bit being about how everyone was in denial about different things. Yes. And then this episode, it's like, what the fuck? Why aren't you accepting reality?
SPEAKER_05It's right in our face. We all see it. Yeah, it was just me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Everyone it felt like was projecting their own shit. I mean, Janice was doing it. Sure. But like everyone being like, Why aren't you handling your issues? was really fun, I thought. Yes. Like dramatically.
SPEAKER_00It's it's funny because usually Janice is the one handling his issues, and this is like the first time he's really gotten to be the guy that's like totally in denial and not doing it.
SPEAKER_04Well, it's also funny because I feel like this is the the issue that is the most like we can see it happen. I see the the plague cloud in front of it.
SPEAKER_05Stop it. I also feel like it's the first time that it like it affects us. Like it's it's not like your denial about you your relationship with whatever or like something that only affects you. It's like the denial about the situation that we're all dealing with right now that I feel like maybe was and that puts everyone in danger of the sports. Yeah, I was really worried about Patch getting sick. Me too.
SPEAKER_04I was like, how do we I'm not gonna walk into that? Yeah, that's what I that's why I was scared. I was like, we're going to a plague town. Are we all gonna get like sick? That's why I kept asking about masks.
SPEAKER_03It's all it but it's totally different than any threat that we've faced yet, right? Like where you walk into Ariac and you're like, uh we're gonna end up in that fucking labyrinth, right? Like, or we uh walk into Sirens Perch and it is pirates.
SPEAKER_04Pirates. Yes.
SPEAKER_03We walk into that, like the the little creepy theater with the obvious reducer. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. And then this one is like, oh, we see what's wrong with that. Like we don't know.
SPEAKER_05And also Spencer didn't give us any way to protect ourselves. Like, I was fully walking, like expecting this to like be the resistance, and and like, okay, well, like if you you know, charm yourself with this, the like you're you're safer, or you know what I mean? Like I was I was expecting to hear some sort of the way that they were dealing with it that would help us, but then it was like, no.
SPEAKER_03Like, some of us turn into trees, you know.
SPEAKER_05That it was like, okay, so we're just walking into this, and like I don't know if it's how you like the idea of the air swirling with spores, yeah, is so horrible. Yeah, it's that that it's like there's no way to block it. Like I'm I'm I was like literally feeling them hit the back of my throat. Um, like I mean it's also like you know, they're particles, like, and you can't stop them.
SPEAKER_03Watching you throughout this episode, it's horrible. Like you were viscerally reacting to it. Yes. And like I didn't want to make this reference because it's also like incredibly tragic. But like the vibe I got was walking into Chernobyl, you know?
SPEAKER_05Like I was watching that, and that's what's because Chernobyl, the radiation is invisible. You can't you don't feel in the radiation hit the back of your throat. That's that yeah, you're so that's what I feel like is so like they're horribly pervasive and there's no way to defend yourself. What the fuck, Spencer?
SPEAKER_01I mean, well, no, you all you all are a little resistant, and like it is And so that made me breathe.
SPEAKER_05I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if you guys do get it, which is a possibility, it's like multiple saving throws, you have a little bit of resistance, and the ultimately, if you're setting out to cure this plague, and if you catch the plague, all of these things, like all of these death effects, take place over X number of days. Yeah, yeah, so that you have time to solve the plague. Like if you get it. Like you won't be hopefully no one dies.
SPEAKER_03I will say we're gonna get a herd immunity.
SPEAKER_05I'm okay with no one dying. It's just the fact that uh I it it fit it felt like we're obviously going to get it if we walk into here.
SPEAKER_04I mean, for me, like the thing with this is like, you know, not to be political, but we recently went through a plague. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um those of you listening in 2040, yeah. Uh um guess her to COVID.
SPEAKER_04I mean, yeah, that's what it felt like. It was your grandparents about it. Because, you know, Chloe the player doesn't know what the stakes are actually like of like going into a labyrinth or like fighting a pirate or whatever. Yes. But I know that yes, if I walk into a plague-ridden place, I'm gonna get really sick and die. Yeah. Um, so if the threat felt a lot more real. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then we're gonna have to fight people.
SPEAKER_04We're gonna have to fight people. And so for Janice to be like, it's fine. For the health care, I was gonna say this. I was like, for a healthcare not being very returned. Nobody really has to mask up was so that's what we're doing, is we're going into like some Republican pod.
SPEAKER_00No, it's more of like, you know, it's I we didn't want to get into it, but it's like, what does the research actually show? And the research shows that masking up does not help you from a magically attacking plague.
SPEAKER_05That's that that is like I get like I am okay with that, but it's that doesn't mean everything's fine. That means everything is worse.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's also one of those things where it's like the plague it's it's less that the plague is contagious person to person, like it's more of like a plague bringer and like the life of it that's infecting people, yeah, rather than like Yeah, yeah, like Cersei's not gonna feel better too.
SPEAKER_03But I I think that the I'm really happy that you made the choice to at the end of the episode be like fine, yes, it's bad.
SPEAKER_01I was also looking for that to end the episode. I was like, we can't end the episode with Janice still denying it.
SPEAKER_03Like yeah, because I do think it it it paints this next arc that we're going on with you know, you don't you Janice doesn't want to admit that this is very scary, you know? Like and um attack that we're dying.
SPEAKER_00I think the denial or the minimization of it was more on like, yeah, we can handle this. This is this is great, this is fine.
SPEAKER_05Are you denying your denial right now?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, I think I I think I'm I think I'm um diverting it from being denial to minimiz minimalization.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like something that we can totally handle, like and a projected confidence of it. Yeah, I don't think.

SPEAKER_05Well, now that I feel like we can exist in that space, then I'm like, either we get it or we don't get it. Like, I thought as soon as we walk in, we will be infected of it because we'll have breathed in the spores. That's what I thought. Because we can't stop that from happening. Yeah. So we're all just gonna walk in and die. Now that that's not the case, we're good.

Like the original my original like pitch was that there was for each of the magic schools and for the non-magic people, like there'd be a council for each of those people. So like Arcana, Druidic, and uh uh clerics, and then just like the normies. And then Spencer kind of built it out into the military and the merchant, and like the druids or district is technically the suburbs, like it really built it out a lot more. And the and the noble district added as well. So he he grew it, he added more nobles to himself.
SPEAKER_03Is there one representative per slice of the pizza? Is that the thing?
SPEAKER_00It's one per slice of pizza plus the suburbs. So Janice's mom is the crust. Janice's mom is the crust.

And I uh I made the decision to be like like try to almost compete with Janice a little bit over like his mom's affection of being like, and then at the very end being like, my mom's squeeze Juliana, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was like dropping like, well, like clearly Rex and Lucy for whatever reason were very jealous of Janice's mom. No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_01I for whatever reason, what are you talking about? I feel like Lucy and Rex have the most mommy issues. Okay, that's true. They have the most mommy issues.

SPEAKER_05Yeah. I said no because I think in that moment Lucy was realizing how much like that she was thinking, oh, I didn't have a mom. Like Clothis is not what that was. And so I think it came more not from a I don't want these people to know who my mom was. It was more of a no, I don't have a mom.
SPEAKER_03Got it. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Um, because it yeah, she was kind of being um confronted with Janice's mom.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I I think it's I mean, Spencer, you kind of gave us the note a little bit at the beginning to be like, hey, like, you know, give a little bit of your like deal. Deal.
SPEAKER_04I think we did a good job of that.
SPEAKER_03And I was like, Oh, I come from what's Rex's.
SPEAKER_04No, you did, but you were actively doing that. There was a point where like, aren't you worried because a few weeks ago you left your hometown and you uh were traveling for a long time and then you came here and she worried about what candle?
SPEAKER_01That's just how Lucy talks.
SPEAKER_06That's that's just me.
SPEAKER_00Well, it is. I mean, occasionally when we're introducing our characters, Sarah will just give Lucy's whole back.
SPEAKER_04She's medium size, so she's like, I should do that next week just in case anyone forgot. Yeah, just in case. Yeah, I will say with uh uh Janus' mom, Patch, you know, usually doesn't objectify anyone. I was just trying to play up to the fact that she's so beautiful. Yes. Even Patch had to say something. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03My fantasy. My um my theory, and it comes from many, many reasons, but like I think it is the new person is is somehow involved in this because uh they're super wealthy. It seems like the plague is only affecting the not wealthy areas, feels very much like a cleansing of the like non nobles, and also throwing a party that's like the plague isn't happening. Party is like very much, I feel like, ivory tower bullshit.
SPEAKER_05Well, is it is it not affecting the noble area?
SPEAKER_01It it is affecting them. Like she she said that the her predecessor, at the very least, um but it it does seem to be affecting it. The uh mercantile district they transformed into the like infected district where people who are infected the quarantine zone. The quarantine zone. Um so it's like the lower class areas are obviously hit harder, but um it it it doesn't seem to be in a way that's like the rich are protected, you know, like yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm not saying you're wrong. I clarified that for myself.
SPEAKER_02Historically, I have I I've been right every time.
SPEAKER_04No, that that's not no. I wonder if it comes came from the arcanery because it's you know, arcane obviously an arcane disease of some sort, and we know that Janice's sister worked there.

SPEAKER_01I think that's something that I've been worried about, is it's like having a plague-focused arc where like obviously for there to be like dramatic like for there to be characters, there does have to be some element of it where there are people who are like, you know, involved in some way. And it's like I don't want to coming out of a time period where like the right wing has been so like like pandemic, you know, like it's it's a weird thing to tread where trying to do something in fiction without drawing parallels to that when that is like a yeah, something on our mind.
SPEAKER_05I think you're doing a great job of not mapping it onto that.
SPEAKER_01That's why I was like, no face masks, no face masks, we don't need it.
SPEAKER_05No, but also like in the way that it moves differently, or like the way that like it's like you're not following the steps of the pan of our pandemic, or you're not like treating it, you're not using the language that people use. So to me, it's it like maybe out like in one sentence it kind of felt that way. And then I feel like we've quickly gone. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I think that us as players can, and like mostly me, not make jokes that are referential to it, like about like vaccines or the jab or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Like a little bit of happens, it happens, it's fun. I think I think the main thing is just like in the storytelling. I don't want it to be like, oh, we made a weird COVID allegory that sounds right wing. Like yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Or or that sounds like we're making light of. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04We're just recognizing the parts that are familiar.

SPEAKER_00Because we're people who live through that. Yes, but also COVID was never a giant magical swarming dragon in the world. Exactly. COVID wasn't turning people into the U it wasn't.

SPEAKER_03Did you say uh did you say that the Temple of Erebos, god of death, has been like is is like the source of it, or like is overrun. It's been like overrun with it. So the priests there who are have not been heard from God. Nobody can go there, you go there, you can't. And like that's that's common kind of like we know Erebos is involved in this somehow because of what the guy who's the plague spreader or whatever has been.
SPEAKER_04I mean, that's part of my theory is that maybe the death priests are trying to fight it as well because it's not like it's a rogue death priest who is I don't even think I feel like he might be like a Red herring. Like I've my theory is that we're gonna meet whoever's walking around and he's like, yes, I'm trying to stop this. What's up?
SPEAKER_00I'm woke. He's actually following the plague. Like he's always seen where people get infected because he's like chasing it and trying to get it.
SPEAKER_01Or the plague is following him.
SPEAKER_04Or the plague's following him. I don't think that Erebos is responsible for this plague.

SPEAKER_03But we also know And ironically, Pfizer would be an awesome name for this guy.

SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, um, I I like the idea now of like an evil wizard that like as another character that we haven't met yet. That was like, oh, that's interesting. But my initial thought throughout the episode, um, and this could be because I'm biased, that it was like the gods fighting and that it's like this um like uh I guess symptom or like bleeding over onto the material. Yeah, yeah, that they're fighting over the powers over the mortals, or they're fighting over like death versus life versus trickery, and like it's kind of spilling out on and then affecting mortals. Um, but it's really just like their own chaos and their own not caring about people that's causing it.
SPEAKER_03I think that makes a lot of sense based on like what Farica had said to Janice. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04It reminds me of there's a video game, an indie video game called Home Safety Hotline, where you're kind of playing as like, you know, you're a a phone operator and you get calls of things that are happening to people in their homes and you have to figure out what's happening to them. But part the part of the the conceit is is that everything is normal, but fee and natural druidic elements are starting to creep into homes and stuff. So if something that happens is like the Faye flu, which like turns you pink, and like you you die from it, you die from the Faye flu. But that's what I was thinking is so that makes sense too. It could be a god or it could be like a fee thing. Yeah. Um, so some like I think there is something to, you know, some sort of trickery going on just because of what it does. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I almost felt like the the urge to like this will make Lucy want to talk to Clothus, of like, okay, fine. But now there is like that. And obviously she had to have been infected or you know, stricken by the plague in the past week because previously she had seen your parents and hadn't been and so we've got a couple days.
SPEAKER_05And is she hanging out with Farrica?
SPEAKER_00We don't know. That's the other thing is that she went goth. And so it's like, is she gonna goth? Why is she gone goth? Most gods well, I guess Thassa has two oracles. They have a because Thassa, you said, has a land oracle and a sea oracle. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00So Farrica could have a so Farica could have a healing oracle and a death oracle. That's cool. Or Spencer's write that down. That's a good idea. My joke is that But Janice is already the duality. He already has to heal in her.

SPEAKER_05Yes. Why don't you ask histos? And then what he's been doing there. But then you also saw Death walking around looking for your sister in a box. So not for my sister, but a priest order.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we all saw that when we were looking in the different videos.
SPEAKER_00That wasn't a vision, that was surveillance from um.
SPEAKER_05And what did we what did we see again?
SPEAKER_00Diamachus. Diamachus showed the death priest walk into a bar, put down a photo of, or photo or drawing, whatever.

SPEAKER_05That's that it could be then the way to like the death priest is trying to find the box because that's the only way the disease was that can contain the disease. Yeah. And so the death priest is trying to get it back in the box. Yeah, if it's an indoors box.

SPEAKER_05That the spore cloud is like, I was thinking it was like fog. Where it was, it had just like descended on the entire scene.
SPEAKER_01So there is like a general, like hazy spore cloud, but then there also are these like more specific concentrated.

SPEAKER_05And so we looked at it and it was like I was at like 16, which is maybe not as many. You should have more than that. Or no, you had 22. 22 total for a level five sorcerer. And should be a little bit higher than that.
SPEAKER_01We we do home rules where it's like you can't have below your average what the average would be. Yeah. And the average was 35. So it was low. But we are we're through it. And now Lucy's never gonna die.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so I can run into any burning building, doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_00Yeah, and we were too late. We'll have to find out, but I think Janice is isn't gonna let Cersei out of his sight, knowing while the priest is out there. So if we decide not to go after the priest, then he's just gonna drag her with him.
