SPEAKER_02If you've ever held a really good rope in your hands, I'm talking one of those thick ship ones. A mooring rope. It's a yeah, you know, like the ones that like could hold an anchor against a dock. Like that it's like a little bit frayed, but it's just so strong. It's like a man's forearm.
SPEAKER_06You know, like I mean, they call coming casting rope.
SPEAKER_02That's not the kind of rope I'm talking about. I'm talking about the cords of muscle. Who calls wrapped around the ulna and the radius? Right, radium or the ulna? The radius and the ulna. The cords of rope, of, of muscle. Sinewy. Sinew.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.

SPEAKER_06Why do we keep going back to that? Let's not go into it.
SPEAKER_04I'm curious who uh how did how did we get to the rope being sentient?
SPEAKER_01So it's a magic rope. It's funny because it's funny because Patch has had this rope the whole campus.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Patch has used it, I think, episode like three or something. Lucy had and Patch have talked about it or maybe even passed it back and forth at least once before.
SPEAKER_01And it's always just been once and forth.
SPEAKER_07Come on.
SPEAKER_01It's a rope that is animated. It can like you can give it commands to tie itself up to things. And Lucy was the one who started talking to the rope.
SPEAKER_07Well, no, the the rope waved at Lucy. It did, yes. In it in a flirty way, in Sarah Lucy in it in a flirty way. And then I um a Rex uh yes ended it in a way that was like the big brother trying to look out for his little sister.
SPEAKER_02I mean, like, I just think it's so fun. The uh the ropes are such a a small but big part of Lucy's character. Like it doesn't come up that often, and so I think to me, it's just really fun to have a moment with her and the rope. And then yeah, we're like, I'm never gonna put down a bit, you know. This is what I'm saying. We have to leave people.
SPEAKER_06Everyone leaves. I imagined it a lot bigger.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, this is it, this is a smaller version. Yeah, yeah, pocket size. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04This is the voodoo doll that Lucy made of the rope.

SPEAKER_06It starts vibrating in your bag. Um anyway, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. That was fun. I I it was really funny. I think uh at first, well, yeah, earlier in the campaign, Lucy wasn't quite ready for that relationship. Now she is. I think she's gonna get hit with some feelings that she's not used to, that she doesn't see coming. Well, Patch is gonna put the rope down.
SPEAKER_00Oh god.
SPEAKER_02As in Kill? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I love what's gonna break up.
SPEAKER_02I didn't think she was gonna have to mourn like a war widow.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00A rope hookup.
SPEAKER_01Patch does not want the responsibility of his magic rope being in a weird relationship with that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean, it's like when you introduce two friends and then they like kind of don't like each other.
SPEAKER_01Or they date and then they break up. Yeah, it's just like a little bit of a.
SPEAKER_04I do want to see where it goes. I want to see where it goes. I do want to give a rose to Spencer for one, putting up with this, but two, the rope became one of one of the NPCs with the most personality that we've had in a while. Uh uh, not that your NPCs aren't all full of personality, but finally, someone with some fucking personality ever needs to get it.
SPEAKER_05Not what a cooler wand. I was like, I had 15 NPCs in the masquerade, all with different ones.
SPEAKER_04Not what I meant to do. The amount of personality this rope as an NPC embodied was was very fun and very impressive. So I agree.
SPEAKER_07It is the net of it because it it was zero. No, it was a rope. Then it became a 25. You know what I mean? Not not that.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it's just fully carpet. I think you said carpet from Aladdin. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07I didn't think so.
SPEAKER_04I was thinking it moments ago, but I didn't say it.
SPEAKER_02Same. I was thinking the exact same thing when it said waved at Lucy. I think I didn't know. And carpet from Aladdin is objectively hot.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yes. What? Right? Yeah, he is. No, it's game. And I go, does the carpet match the carpet's penis?
SPEAKER_02On the podcast?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. The magic carpet does not have a penis. You're not watching a whole new world, and then you get like that under flopping.
SPEAKER_01It's like ripples. Like when you're in like an aquarium and one of those like tube aquariums and like a whale swims over you and you see its little wussy. Wussy. It's wussy. It's like that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. It's wussy. You mean it's dork?
SPEAKER_03It's whale pussy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Dork.
SPEAKER_06You guys ever do that when you were a kid? Whenever someone would call you a dork, you'd be like, well, actually, that means whale penis. I don't know what it's called. I didn't know that until I met Matt Morin.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. We discussed that on the playground.
SPEAKER_07I feel like we talked about it on the podcast, though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we did. Surely. We talked about it. Was I there? It was Matt. I used to be listening.
SPEAKER_06PowerPoint presentations about it, you know. I don't remember talking about it on the podcast. I just remember every day saying it.
SPEAKER_02What does it stand for?
SPEAKER_06Um, Dor. Dumb old Rod Crinkle.
SPEAKER_02Crinkle with the guy. Now I understand.
SPEAKER_06I I also found really fun uh uh Rex's discomfort with it. Because I do think like afterwards you were like, I don't know if I played that too aggressively. I think you towed the perfect line of like you your you weren't saying no to the bit, you were saying yes to the to the situation making your character uncomfortable. Like it was really funny.
SPEAKER_07I think I was what I was struggling with was how comfortable or how uncomfortable I was playing Rex because I was like, why would Rex really care? You know, but then it became so juicy.
SPEAKER_01Like we're siblings. That was like I mean, Rex would care. He's very like protective of I know, I know, I know.
SPEAKER_07And it's the whole bit about being like, this guy isn't right for you, or this guy isn't gonna call you, and then you being like, I don't need him to call me. Like, this is a fling, brother.
SPEAKER_06Like that was funny because if if I think of people who are like emotionally like in a place where they are good to like hop from person to person, you know, like it's he's a rebound.
SPEAKER_02He's like an emotional, but like from who? Like family, you know, like like attachment rebound. Yeah, any direction.
SPEAKER_06But that's what I'm saying, is I'm like, I feel like any source of like possible stability that Lucy could get, like the idea of her being like, I don't even need this one, is so funny to me because it's like I cannot think of any of all of you, including Patch, I cannot think of anyone less likely to have a one-night stand than Lucy.
SPEAKER_02And I also really loved uh Rex at the end being like, I've lost her. I can't anymore. Like that made me laugh out loud of like just you guys have to deal with this because I can't do it anymore.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah. It's um, and then the the like the final button on that was like Patch, who was away from the rest of us the entire time, like you know, messaging us and uh just being like, we gotta talk off microphone. I would use here, yeah, but also there, because it's like the messaging is everywhere.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. On that note, I loved um Patch uh going up to distract the guard and like do the the that talk, and like the rest of us were scaling the walls. That was very fun.
SPEAKER_06That was that Chloe, you played that really well. That was really a fun character you found.
SPEAKER_01Thanks. Yeah, I felt like in the moment I was like, am I doing too much? But I think it does make sense of like even just looking at the scene logistically for the t the party to have someone who's like actually able to have somewhat of a a conversation with Caladeus in that situation to like have someone on the ground floor. So that was fun for Patch. I wish I could have stuck, I wish I was better at doing a fake British Australian accent in Patch's voice, but that'll be for next time.
SPEAKER_06I I think it was also cool because you saw a little something happen with some of your magic that you've never seen happen before. Yeah, did you get like an ability card with that?
SPEAKER_01Or did you just it was just showing off just storytelling? That's cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was cool.
SPEAKER_06We we gotta talk about Patch.
SPEAKER_07I think I think it came out really, really well in the edit. Yeah. Your um banter came out really, really well. And I think it's difficult to do a split party kind of thing where it's like it it stays engaging on both sides. Like obviously, we're doing bits about rope sex over here and like trying to scale two walls, uh, and then you're having this whole other thing, and you were the only person that could keep that going. So I think you did really well with that.
SPEAKER_03Thanks. Agreed. Yeah, it was fun.
SPEAKER_04Also, your banter with Caladeus whenever you were actually like in the crowd and just yelling, just yelling at Callius.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I can't help it. Like, I just want to question her because she's so pompous. Yeah, she's so pompous.
SPEAKER_04It got me through that actually.
SPEAKER_06I want to contradict everything she says. I mean, and their and their their plot is truly evil. Like evil and ill-formed. Like they are you guys like kind of blowing up their spot, like like clearly figuring shit out has forced them to like scramble in a way that like their plan almost certainly was not drop a nuclear bomb, but they were like fucking it's gonna come out with like if we don't do something now, it's gonna come out.
SPEAKER_02One of my favorite things about Caladeus and Yurifon is like I just I think they're such great characters that you've created, Spencer. Because they are so unlikable. So likable, like as uh as like villains. I'm just I love fighting them, I love seeing what they're gonna come up with next, and I think that they're both such capable villains, and so it's really fascinating when they make bad choices because it's like because it's of their their hubris, or it's because of her sycophantic nature with Eurofon that she can't see past like her own desire to be whatever to him, or like she thinks he's so great, and that's what makes her like it's just so cool to see the it's so cool that you were able to build such interesting and smart characters and then play them in a very compelling and truthful way to be not acting to the top of their abilities and to be making dumb decisions. That's like chest, and that's really cool.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. Musical and it makes getting one up one up on them even more satisfying. Like, you know, it was a great moment to hear, you know, uh Calidaeus's like such like politician tone of voice, like the whole time until Janice like comes down, yeah, and like convinces and sways the crowd, and for her to immediately go for like no, you know, like she doesn't yeah, to see her flaws like that.
SPEAKER_06She doesn't like it when she doesn't get her way because so often she just gets her way.
SPEAKER_01Like she has she's so good at getting her way. Yeah, like she does have apparently a plus 13 of persuasion, but like she doesn't have people skills like that.
SPEAKER_06They're both of her and Eurofon, like their things are they are so charismatic, like they are celebrities. Like they are, you know, he's he's called Europhon the wise, but he's a trickster. He's charismatic as hell. Yeah. Um like his modifier is crazy. Oh god. Yeah. I sorry, I don't want to interrupt you. The only the only thing I was gonna say about that, like the them like their plan kind of like their their plan like came kind of close to working there for a moment. Um I think Janice, you like barely it was like by one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and it was it needed a large it but it also needed like she had to she rolled a three. Yeah and she needed to roll a three. Uh if she rolled anything you would have had to get a natural 20.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, truly. And I think like the whole arc I've been trying to do this, like I don't want to say theme, but like the thing about like unity. And I feel like um you coming out and doing the like unity, like, oh we're all like we're all plutopplins, like you really want to let your fellow people down.
SPEAKER_02Like Yeah, like we're not gonna let we're gonna save the whole town, we're not gonna sacrifice half the town.
SPEAKER_06It feels like it connected really well to um the like you know, Whisper Wonder and Wile being split up and like that causing their problems, and it connected really well to you, um sorry, you, and I point accusingly um Sarah uh as Lucy salvaging Senna and Cadra, not just being like, oh, they're villains, like you know, we need to kill them at the next opportunity, but like there is you know, Treoctus was a bad guy, but like in a world where you could have fought and killed three out of the six members of the council, you didn't do that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06You created like a genuine unified coalition that like is going through shit. Like, you know, zombie people, not zombie people, but like, you know, zombie people controlled people in some way. Yeah. Um yeah, I just I think that that I like how you did that. That's very cool.
SPEAKER_02That's very cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07The the one thing that I wanted to say was uh, you know, one is that Callidae, like we have we fucked around with Eurifon a little bit, you know, in Arc 2.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_07But like for the most part, we've been dealing with Calidaeus as his mouthpiece. And so it is it it is very like it's a little intimidating to be like, okay, so like his number two, you know, but like she's so she's scary, you know. I hate her. But also the other thing I want to say was just speaking of themes and motifs, there was one line that you said when you were as Caladeus, you know, uh, I think this was after Janice said his his part where you were like, I'm throwing you this rope like to like to save you. Like, grab it. Grab the sexy rope. And it, you know, well one made me think about the rope, of course.
SPEAKER_02Um hey guys, and this rope on the kinky roll.
SPEAKER_07It was such a it was so such an in-the-moment, like the the the desperation in your voice playing Caladeus was such a uh uh legitimate, felt very real thing. And I think you make these characters feel very real when Rex is had mouthed off to Caladeus, and Caladeus goes back at him at the same exact vibe. Uh I feel it. You know what I mean? Like it's very real. Matt Matt leaves Caladeus sessions mad. Yeah. I did, yeah. I did. I'm sorry for that. No, but it takes me like a day to get over it. But I I I'm genuinely I'm annoyed because I've said it, I think I said it at the last at the end of the last episode, but like, which was Calidae's represent so much of what I hate about how the world is right now politically. And uh it it frustrates me to no end. But it it I it'll be so sweet when we win.
SPEAKER_06Which I I think like you know no promises that you know everything will go according to plan, but like next episode there's a chance. Like you guys, you don't know where you're going, you don't know what's happening, but you know you might be fighting some people.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we know that we have we we know because Caladeus very thoughtfully uh gave us the exposition, which was meeting me and soterics bitch.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that was uh not not the most gracefully handled.
SPEAKER_07We can admit that. We were doing themes, we can't we were doing bits around hanging up the phone, which was so fucking funny. And she was like, let me just tell you how to beat me. We can tell you how to beat me. Soterix, man, that's cool. Um but yeah, we needed to uh a champion and their god needs to close it. Yeah, she is saying that she's gonna do that, I guess. Or whatever, but we also have four. We have five if we can get Cersei, which we don't we don't know where she is, but Caladeus has her, I think Insoteric.
SPEAKER_04Possibly.
SPEAKER_06Who knows? Oh, who knows?

SPEAKER_06We can I think do the rest just on Yeah. Um you also heard um in her speech brief reference to the other mortals who have ascended to godhood. Oh yes.

SPEAKER_06Including uh uh Clothus and Phoenix.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. I think that Tapashius makes Phoenix seem like more of a dweeb.

SPEAKER_01I'm gonna get you.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. To me, it's very interesting, like how they did that, right? So I'm very curious about that. Especially like obviously Clothus, because Clothus is such a central part of the story right now, but also Phoenix becoming kind of like a back end or coming in in the second interlude.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I think it has more implications for Lucy. It did make me think of like, okay, so Patch just needs to learn Phoenix's real name and he's gonna he's gonna have him. That's true.
SPEAKER_02It's interesting like to hear when Phoenix then talks about seeing himself and Patch. Yeah. Or the connection, like, oh, I I like you, I see it. We're similar, you're just like me. Yeah. That's not someone who's never been a person before saying that. That's like a human who has ascended to godhood saying that about another human or that's really cool.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the thing, I mean, it's just like how they did it, right? Because obviously that's so front and center right now with Europhon trying to become a god, right? Is that like Phoenix obviously tricked his way into it and then like Clothis Because needed.
SPEAKER_02You know the funny thing? I haven't thought about the how at all. Like to me, that was that's not the number one.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I'm sure it's not, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I'm like, oh, I that probably is interesting to know how it happened. Like it just I think it just turns up the dial of the way that Lucy was feeling already in complexity even more because it's like now not only were you never a human and always a god, so you couldn't understand what it's like to be a human and a mother and be there for your kid, you knew all that stuff and you still didn't talk to me for my entire life. That portrayal cuts even deeper. Yeah, and I'm here to help you remember what it is to be mortal. Well, you already know that. So why do you need like I just I think it's so interesting, it's so interesting, so fascinating.
SPEAKER_01In a morigana.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And just and then just one that you guys have no connection. We've never talked to. I mean, she's the goddess. She came up, I think, once before.
SPEAKER_02It was a morigana's dance. Yeah. Right? Oh, wait. Goddess of love was a human or a mortal.
SPEAKER_04That's what I thought was interesting.
SPEAKER_02That's so interesting.

SPEAKER_06Well, that's what I was I had to say about that. I was like, You can't made it, she made it. Her, like, she's just like the third. Her, like, the way that she ascended isn't really like a lore drop so much. Um, but I can I guess save it for the main feed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, save it for the main feed. I I was I did not react to mom. Oh, this is probably fun. Like, even if it's just a fun fact, I'm like, it's probably an interesting story for how a mortal became the goddess of love.

SPEAKER_06Yeah, all three became gods in different ways. Yeah. Um, and so that's something that I think will be interesting. They didn't all fuck their way to the top. They didn't all fuck their way to the top of a moral. Just Phoenix. That's a passion. That actually makes sense. So, um, yeah, so then it's all up here. It's all up here in this guy's little head. Did I show actually show you guys something that I realized the other day? Yeah. Sure. Um, so I oh, I'm off mic.
SPEAKER_01Spencer said, so I am uh, oh, I'm off mic, and then is rummaging through his knapsack. He's bought out got out his little gurnal.
SPEAKER_06So I started doing my my prep in like on in a notebook instead of on uh my computer just because I think it helps me more. Um and I truly think by the end of this arc I'll have gone through like a hundred pages, which is crazy. Nice, and like to be fair, like each masquerade session was like 20 pages because those were crazy, but like this feels good. It feels good to be like, I got so much documentation. Oh yeah, I love documentation.
SPEAKER_02It makes me so happy whenever like if we're hanging out or like at a different rehearsal and wrote something, I look over and Spencer's scribbling away in his gurnal.
SPEAKER_06I was like, Boinel, meaning my boinel.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I thought it was because it's green. Oh, I was saying gurnal from Wet Hot American.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Paul Rudd's character.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna go write my gurnal.
SPEAKER_07Uh tastes like hamp peace, tastes like cheeseburger. The the the moon like it anymore. Oh my god, Shane is gonna look like Paul Rudd. Like Forever Young. I don't think I look like Paul Rudd.
SPEAKER_02Paul Rudd or Rod Stewart.
SPEAKER_06They look similar. Forever young. Those two look similar too. Um, the move, Lucy trying to dispel magic on Aries. That was good. Remind me, who did you what did you end up targeting?
SPEAKER_01Dracon. The needle, right?
SPEAKER_06Dracon. Dracon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Dracon, nice.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. That's a thorn for me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That moment.
SPEAKER_07Just because the I threw out, like, oh, maybe I can detect magic and then we'll have an idea of what the magic would be. Right. And then like rightfully so, we were like, uh, no, like Lucy's just gonna do this. But you I think at the end, you were like, if that had happened, I would have needed 10 minutes to figure out what to do.
SPEAKER_06Like, yeah, because like Calidaeus was sort of illusory, like I mean, more like projecting herself.
SPEAKER_02She's always projecting. We would have known she wasn't actually here.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you would have, you would have, you would have if you had thrown a rock through her. Yeah, if you had dispelled we were oh well, dependent.
SPEAKER_02We we asked Chat GBT if she was there or not, rather than just figuring it out ourselves.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07So that um, and then you all at the end, so yeah, this wait, not to steal from that uh the magic duel that you guys had. Oh, yeah, which I think is what you were going to say before I interrupted.
SPEAKER_06I that was very cool.
SPEAKER_02That was very fun.
SPEAKER_06Uh yeah, I I it's so fun. I don't I don't know whether it's more fun when you guys have like an NPC that you really like. Like for me, I'm saying like more fun for me. Whether like it's it's really fun when there's someone you really like, and it's really fun when there's someone you really don't like, because then every single role you make against them is life or death to you. Absolutely. Like, yeah, uh yeah, I I I'm very grateful that you guys care about Caladeus in like a hating way. And I really care about Caladey.
SPEAKER_02And I I mean I was just I guess reflecting after this episode, like I mean just in this conversation, like, ugh, like you just get so into it. Like you just start to you care so much about your character, you care so much about their backstory, you care about the people that are mean to them and hurt them, and you want good things for them. It's like wow, it gets really personal. And I mean, it's almost been a year since we've lived with these characters now.
SPEAKER_06So yeah, which is crazy. Yeah, we have to we have to have like a a year special party thing.
SPEAKER_02I still have that disposable camera that I brought the first time. Oh yeah, oh my gosh. I'll finish it out.

SPEAKER_06No, this is this is me just being like, I think we should talk about that a little, talk about like the the the the plot.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean it was a little bit of foreshadowing, like a little bit like of a hint where it's like Europhon needs like or what it seems like, uh, which was also interesting, something Caladea said, is that we will use democracy to do this, where it's like, oh, she needs not just enough people, but like a majority of people to buy into Eurofon to give him a certain amount of power. And she's I guess she'd go and city by city. I don't know what she's doing.
SPEAKER_01A very interesting way to get enough you know, divine juice to become a god to become a god, it feels very like empirical, like you l she literally needs like X amount of followers that she's trying to reach to believe. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06That's interesting.
SPEAKER_01It is very interesting, but it also means that like there probably is some truth to the fact that Yrafon is gonna get some great power if we saw you know gold light flu crack through the sky and their prayers go up to the heavens.
SPEAKER_06He clearly already has some incredibly powerful power that like transcends beyond like you know, Mortal Adventurer. Um, whether that's you know some nascent godhood, whether that's demi-godhood, whether that's uh uh you know if he's a champion of someone, like because they both have stars.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Unless they're lying with makeup.
SPEAKER_04And there is one other thing Caladeus said that made me a little concerned, um, which was if we it was when they were talking about the contract at the party, and they were like, if Farah can uh Yeah, she was like, if if Afara doesn't like it, then it's fine. I was like, oh no, is Afara somehow like goddess captured? I don't think on their side. She was at the party.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's she was at the party, but then she left before shit popped off. She left before. But she did warn, she told you, like, don't trust shit.
SPEAKER_04She gave us the warning do not trust Eurifon. So then whenever they're saying, like, oh, if Afara says yeah, I'm like, Afara wouldn't say that. Yeah, uh, she doesn't like Eurifon, which means she's something's wrong with Afara.

Um there there's a way it would have resolved. What if we just left? You wouldn't have had to go to the three. There's stuff you could have done. Okay. Um where do you think it goes?

SPEAKER_07I I don't know what I mean, I I don't know what it means for Rex. I mean, the only thing that I'm thinking about right now really is killing Calidaeus and also potentially maybe sundering that blade in Soterix, you know, if that's the way it has to be done. I don't know.
SPEAKER_06But we'll see. Um yeah, Callidaeus. So Calidaeus told you that the only way to close the box is in Soterix and to meet her there. Um but that doesn't necessarily mean that's where those portals go.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Well, she's also she's also a liar. So that's true. If only there were a god of doorways that could help us get through the right portal to go where we have to go.
