SPEAKER_02It was so satisfying to kill Kale Caladeus when we were all wearing black because we wanted to kill Caladeus.
SPEAKER_03And I just want to say, I don't think Patch did more than like 20, 30 damage in that fight, but having her roll around in that grease, even if it hadn't helped, which it did because it gave people advantage. It helped. Um was enough for Patch.
SPEAKER_07That's cool. Yeah, no, I mean that that last image of her just like fucking slip sliding around, going like, oh, ah, ah, I mean, was so pathetic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Like you truly humiliated her, which is what we wanted.
SPEAKER_03A lot of power. We called her dad.
SPEAKER_07I think that was. That was so funny. I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_02I love I loved calling Titus. Yeah. Just for him to do it.

SPEAKER_00I think I said, I don't know if I said it on mic or off mic, but one time I did say, like, I don't want to just kill Caldeus. I want, I want her humiliated. Yeah, so calling her dad, having her slip around.
SPEAKER_07And they she's like, she grew up like a little rich kid. Like that does something.

SPEAKER_03Her dad had like a hedge fund in Florida. It was golfing. That was so much fun.
SPEAKER_05But it's also like obviously like chilled out and probably like checked his his privilege because he's like hanging out in a library. He was hanging out with your dad. Yeah, but maybe your dad lied about going to the library.
SPEAKER_07Maybe he's a golf campo.
SPEAKER_02I think he like probably donated money to the library. So he like goes to see his name on the ball.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he probably certainly also sucks.
SPEAKER_02Or he probably also is like, I do charity to help the poor.
SPEAKER_03He's probably nice enough to first interact with it.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. He'd be like, I choose to believe that he is not like his daughter, but yeah.

SPEAKER_00It's it's hard to say, but like it's one of those things where at least he like started a business and did something, whereas Caladeus was just raised rich. I think there is a different attitude between those two things.
SPEAKER_07And I just have to say, just for the record, never in my life am I gonna put a good hedge fund manager in a DD. And never once are you guys gonna meet an NPC who managed a hedge fund who's just like hedge witch. I hang out.
SPEAKER_00Well, too bad, because as soon as Janice dies, my next character is a hedge fund manager with a heart of gold.
SPEAKER_07Oh, that's incredible. That's it. And you're going to be responsible for the first Tarask that you guys missed.
SPEAKER_02Um, what was I gonna uh uh uh about um Caladeus and her dad. Oh, Caladeus, big, um big like all girls boarding school. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yes, yes. Yes, and she was definitely the book. She played the cross. Yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh and she was big.
SPEAKER_07She was early.
SPEAKER_03Not on not on a comment on like, you know, a young woman's body, but she was a big girl and she knocked those bitches over.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, she went into the army. Yeah, she did go into the village.
SPEAKER_02That's true, that's true.
SPEAKER_07Um yeah, I I'm great job, everyone. Uh uh a little bit of a thorn for myself. I'm so sorry, Shane, that I just kept hitting. I was like, these guys, my idea with the husks was like they're gonna focus fire to try to create situations that people like have to get out of to like um hit hard. They're gonna like concentrate on people and hit hard. And that ended up just being like a bunch of guys just surrounding you, clobbering you, which it happens.
SPEAKER_00You were rolling hot. I was rolling so hot. Because I was like, Janice has both the evasion feat, but he didn't have to do any evasion-based saves.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um and also with the little boost he got from the box, has like an AC of 19. So like he should have been harder to hit than he was.
SPEAKER_07I think I rolled like six Nat 20s this episode. Like something crazy. I felt bad.
SPEAKER_00Um, but you guys you definitely crit on Janice twice in a row with like two characters.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was a fun fight, but also uh her her like radiance spell that was so bright. Yeah, like with a thorn and all of a sudden bean, that was hard.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that took a lot of us out, and we were all kind of like doing different things, like trying to focus on different areas.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you guys really took care of business.
SPEAKER_02I did lots of damage, I I think, if I remember correctly, and it was satisfying.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I did a lot of hacking.
SPEAKER_07I'm I'm I am really glad that Janice got to throw her.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely.
SPEAKER_07Like, I feel like it was very cool of Janice to like sidestep the air. Like that thing with Triarctus was really cool. I'm glad that Janice got the final blow on Caladeus. Yeah, for sure. How'd that feel?
SPEAKER_00It felt so good to just throw her over. I was gonna try and throw her over beforehand. I was like, I'm just gonna go grab her and throw her over and see what happens.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like the emperor in Star Wars.
SPEAKER_07It really, it really was like movie villain death.
SPEAKER_00Like it was it was the it was the emperor in Star Wars, it was Gaston in Star Wars. Uh Scar, Limestone Star Wars, the guy from Star Wars.

SPEAKER_02Uh well, it felt uh I was a little at first I was like, oh, am I like should this be me? I was I wasn't sure if it should be Janice and Farrica, because it was his town, and that was like that whole health thing. Um but it it also seemed like a part of thinking about it, I was like, I'm not actually sure that Lucy was over by the box.
SPEAKER_07And I mean, we kind of dropped out of initiative a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Like we all ran to different places, like like like everyone took care of something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you you were by the box. Did I run over to it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you did. Okay. Because we were well, you were not by it, but like.
SPEAKER_03You weren't by it, but I had just like slipped Caladus near it. Right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Right. Well, that's what so I was like, okay, well, if if the story is putting Lucy there, then like maybe that's okay. Um Yeah, so at first I was a little bit conflicted about that. I'm sorry if I uh but then you said it was okay, so then I was like, I think it's okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was totally fine. Like like the Janice and Farrica relationship is not nearly as touching or or interest I don't want to say interesting. The Janice and Farrica relationship is very interesting. Yeah but I would rather have like a touching moment there than like an interesting moment. And I think I think Janice got his with like finishing Caladeus. Yeah, yeah. Um and and I think more important part of him in like potentially Farrica is this aftermath. Yeah. Now he is faced with half his town being that's true.
SPEAKER_02Right, that is a a much more not to reuse the word interesting, but like, yeah, talking about how the the aftermath is more complicated.
SPEAKER_05Half lived, half died.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_05Um, I was gonna say as well, I feel like that moment was so perfect for Lucy, but also I feel like, yeah, like the way I imagine Janice and Farrica afterwards is like Janice walks into her office, like begrudgingly sits down and is like, yeah, okay, I did it, or whatever. Not like this heroic sort of like, we're shutting the box together.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it definitely it definitely would have been Janice and Farica like arguing, like what you put your back into it. Are you even trying to close the box? Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. I I also think we've we've reached a point with Lucy where it's like, okay, we've have to see her, like we have to get some of this stuff. Start, not ris I don't want to say resolving, but like uh we can't save Clothis showing up for the last episode because there's such complicated feelings, you know? Where it's like, not I'm not saying that she's gonna like, you know, uh come in Cosmo Kramer style every episode, but like why not?
SPEAKER_03It felt like it was time to see her.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, like I do feel like it was at a point where it's like, okay, we we now have to progress this relationship to whatever the messy next stage of it is. Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_00The setup for it that we kind of knew episodes ago was that like an oracle and their god need to close it together. And between like who's the people who were gonna have to suck it up and and deal with their god, the most interesting or the funnest people to see do that would either be the it also I think like second choice would have been passionate phoenix.
SPEAKER_03I feel like it would have been poor a disappointing result of that moment. Or not disappointing, but I think it would have gone in a very different emotional direction that I don't think would have necessarily suited this conclusion to the arc. Like I think, I think, you know, Patch's first reaction when he says when he sees Phoenix again is gonna be dukes up. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07That's true. I think like everyone we we've talked about like everyone having their like mini arc within the arc. Yeah. I feel like like Patch and Phoenix have had their their relationship has progressed this arc kind of as far as it it could progress without um like jumping the shark and and like you know, Rex has his stuff with the sword and with his like back and not the time to and and like I feel like Irawas, you know, or it would be you one of you mentioned like what if Rex tried to close the box and Mogus was just a big so insane. That would be crazy. Who's to say what would have happened? I won't tell you what would have happened, but um back the and then like Janice like his hometown and the stuff with Cersei, and like like there is definitely stuff coming down the pike with him and Farrica because that deal is um ongoing. Yeah. Um I do think that like for Lucy, this needed to be Lucy's uh uh Lucy's beat in a way. Yeah, this week, right.
SPEAKER_02Cool. Well good. I'm glad I'm I'm glad to hear that. That's reassuring to hear.
SPEAKER_07It was great.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, I got surprisingly emotional.
SPEAKER_07Um Yeah, we were all surprised by that.

SPEAKER_02Like I knew at the end at the end of of Arc One, I knew it was coming.

SPEAKER_07This one felt more like Yeah, it was like out of you didn't know that it was you're gonna see your mom.
SPEAKER_02Right, exactly. And so it felt more like, oh, I guess Lucy just does live enough in me that like just the idea of like doing it was enough to like make me tear up a little bit.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Um and then you got this stuff about um the the shroud. About Shelby. Necessarily that Shelby is your mom. Right. It's like I'm clothes, I'll protect you, but that Shelby is like part of your mom.
SPEAKER_02Like something like her cloak or something.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, something she has like given up to protect you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um I think um yeah, I think that that's really interesting, and I'm excited, or like I want to play around more with that. And it also just makes me really excited for the day that um Shelby uh gives up her life, I think, yeah for Lucy.
SPEAKER_07For the day that she is like expended for good. Who knows? Who knows?
SPEAKER_03I can't wait to I can't wait to meet her. True.
SPEAKER_02That's true. I don't yeah, I don't know what their conversation's gonna be like anymore. Hey. Oh, but speaking of that, uh the the opening part of this session was Oh yeah, the flashback was the flashback where it was just Spencer and I there together. Yeah, because Spencer started it so dramatically. It would just be back in Siren's Perch.

SPEAKER_07Uh essentially, it was just a scene of Shelby, low-key, just like in a very chill way, uh, protecting Lucy when they were uh kids.
SPEAKER_02But I think what it is very interesting is that she was protecting Lucy from ships that had the Dyer's End flag insignia and flag on their sails. So that like Dyer's End was either looking for Lucy or like was around Siren's perch when Lucy was young.
SPEAKER_00And Dyer's End is in Narcisum.
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_02We know that for sure.
SPEAKER_07Yep, y'all know that. Dyer's End is somewhere that is useless.
SPEAKER_03It's like in the middle of the ocean.

It was nice to uh have that conversation with her, and it'd be like being able to ask some questions and not like get the f the full story, obviously, because like how dramatic would that be. Yeah. Um but like asking about how my dad like whether my dad was a good guy. Yeah. Trying to do heroic things is are enough to be a hero.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um but yeah, that whole part of the story.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I would be I just had a thought that um uh I wonder if that's actually your mom, or if it's like a magic projection of your mom.
SPEAKER_07So it's like a fragment of your mom.
SPEAKER_02Well, you're right, because it's it's your mom from your perspective. So everything she's saying to you is something you already know, or something that you already believe, or that you that's what you would imagine or believe that she would say to you in that moment. Like that's what you need from her. Or like, you know, his magical his his magic helping him deal with the grief of his mother. But it's like, yeah, she gave you answers, but a lot of it was just like reassuring you that she loved you and she was proud of you and that you are a hero.
SPEAKER_05Like actually the whole metaphor of processing grief.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, exactly. Right, exactly. And and that she doesn't know anything else because you don't know anything else.

SPEAKER_03I felt this was a fun episode for Patch, even though I I wasn't very combative. Like everything that was I felt I needed to do in this combat were things that Patch was ready to do. So it felt like I was able to actually use him like as the little nerdy, you know, artificer that he is.
SPEAKER_00Patch was man in the van and hard.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, to be able to get things rolling.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely.

SPEAKER_07Then we got uh uh uh Lucy talking to Kedra. I was like, so we ended up recording it in two chunks because we were recording so late. Pete behind the curtain. And in my head, that one was kind of tacked on a little bit because in my head I was like, well, Lucy got the moment with Clothus. So like I don't know if she needs like a whole epilogue and I don't know how much time we'll have. But then once I was giving everyone else an epilogue, I was like, Lucy kind of needs something.
SPEAKER_02Well, I had that same thought too, actually. We're on the same page where I was so enjoying everyone else's epilogues where it because like sometimes you're like, okay, well, what like what am I or like where am I? But it was like in that moment, I was just like, Oh, this is so nice just hearing what everybody else is going through. But then pacing wise, I was like, Oh, but I feel maybe Lucy should have one. Yeah, just because it felt like we were kind of going down the line. Yeah, and so I thought that was actually really nice and like short.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, just a short little like, yep, it's complicated. Yeah, you know, talked about your parents.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I and I also just love the shout out of like Lucy connecting with a girl, yeah, and and them talking, and like, oh yeah, all of the boys are like, my relationship with my mom is great. I mean, I know yours is like a little complicated, but mostly they're just great.
SPEAKER_07And it's like your mom's dead.
SPEAKER_02It's like mostly like a lot of times it it's a it's different for like, I mean, you know, girls and their moms or women and their moms than it is for men and their moms. I thought that was interesting. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07And then um, we had Rex's um conversation with his mom, which I have to take a a a tiny L there because I was like, oh, it'll be really cool. Rex will be sitting on top of the Citadel, he'll appear in the stars, maybe he'll talk to like him and Irawas and his mom will talk for a minute. Oh, and we just jumped off the building. Leapt off the building, and I was like, give me a second. That was just give me a second.
SPEAKER_00It was so cute. I really like the moment where you she jumped off the building.

Like it's it's it's a cool thing that that emerges, and I like that like everyone and I think these will all continue to develop, but like something that I think makes you a fun party to DM for and to listen to is you guys have different dynamics with each other, like different feelings towards each other. It's not just like, and we all feel good and we're going the same way. And you are you feel good and you're going the same way, but like there are things Rex would say to Lucy that Rex wouldn't say to Janice. There's things that Patch would say to Rex that Patch might not say to like Lucy or to Janice. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05No, but like you have to be sensitive around Janice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's all high and mighty. He has his entire family. I just don't like how I relate to that.
SPEAKER_07I I do think it's it's nice that you guys all are like well-realized enough characters that it's not just like, you know, four people who are like la-di-da-di-da. We're all out in the open, but but more like eh, we're all a little complicated, and we all feel specific ways. Um how do you how do you how how do you feel about your your scene with your mom?
SPEAKER_05I thought it was nice. Yeah. I mean, I think it's um it's interesting having such an emotional after, you know, kind of recently being a part of such an emotional like mom and child you know coming together that it's like the Rex already had that, you know what I mean? Last arc. Um and so it is gotten into this like comfy place where like Rex doesn't question it anymore, you know? It's just like this happens now, and like trying to, I don't know, be like a a son, uh vulnerable and or like childlike son to his mom and like allow for allow to have like have that, you know, whereas he hasn't had it for like I don't know, six years or something, or yeah, eight years.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05But I yeah, and I but I also kind of was like kicking myself because it's like there's so many questions that I should be asking her, yeah. And then I and then I was like realized that halfway through the conversation, and I was like as a joke, saying, like, so tell me all of the things that I don't know about you or whatever. Um but I do think that like getting that question in there about like his dad, which is you know, I I think something that he's been internally wrestling with for a long time, um is enough of a cookie, you know, it's enough of a of a a carrot to get to to be like, okay, that's something that Rex like is curious about, but doesn't have to be like curious and like angry about. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_07And I I do feel like there's an extent to when you ask her about things we're like and this is partially DM bullshit, but like there is an event to which she'll be like, you know, there's some things that like you you will learn this, you just have to tr like trust with time from her. Um because it's like the classic NPC knows something, but is like, well, it'll come to you when you need you know, like bullshit like that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, but I think that that's that it would be awful if if we instead of ha Rex having his own arc of finding out what exactly the backstory of his like mom and how she became married to his dad and what was her life before. She's here. Yeah. Like that's that's also the thing of where like what's going on. What is so special about her?

So he doesn't want it to be this always this big thing. SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I don't know how it's gonna end up in the edit, but uh we were, I mean, us on this side of the table where we're looking at our uh Spencer's little puzzle. There's a bunch, there's, you know, as happens with pages, there's four sides. And on each side, I think there's like 10 letters that look like they might spell something. Um, and there's also some like periods and commas. And so I couldn't figure out what was going on, and so I handed it to Shane, and Shane deciphered it like immediately.
SPEAKER_00I was playing a lot of Lorelei in the laser eyes, so I feel like puzzles and patterns are right now, like my brain is wired to it.
SPEAKER_03He got me the first line, Hello Patch, which I which which I needed as a hint to tell me how to do it because it still took me took me a second.
SPEAKER_07Which I'm sure this will be cut out, but he found that out during Rex's scene or Lucy's scene, I think Rex's scene, and like held it up to show Chloe, and I was like, Shane, put that down, stop it. Like I kind of got after you.
SPEAKER_03I started crying, like it was real emotion.
SPEAKER_04Wait, really?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I was like, I'm not sure. Can I ask? But do you want to tell them like what the actual how you figure like what it is, what it says? What's the solve? The solve was like take each letter from each corner.
