Hello, everybody, and welcome to issue number seven of Wesley's Pop Culture Club. Wow, number seven. Number seven. Getting it done. Can you put it in the printing press? Put it.

SPEAKER_01

Crank them out. We're getting to those stands. Coming to a stand near you. My name is Lucas.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm Jonah. That's you are good, sir. And uh we are a pop culture slash entertainment discussion podcast. Behemoth. Behemoth. Whoa. That's us. We're we're doing our big one. Oh yeah. Yeah. This is it. This is it. Yeah. So we you may have noticed we've switched to our weekly format now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh which consists of shorter episodes centered around one specific type of uh media or pop culture. Um this is supposed to be our television episode, but we're gonna kind of combine things. We're gonna do a little loop-de-loop, and uh we're gonna also talk about some some movies that we saw outside of our movie of the month, which was again The Mandalorian and Grogu.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Um and if you haven't heard our discussion on that, go back to issue six and check that out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah?

SPEAKER_02

It's titillating. It's quite titillating, quite titillating. Yeah, and scintillating too. Um so Jonah, what do you think? Should we? I suppose if this is our television episode, we should probably start with television. Let's start with television. Okay. Yeah. TV. TV even. Yeah, maybe. All right. Um okay. So uh yeah, thanks for listening. And uh if uh oh also um if you're looking for us on Instagram, you can find us at Wesley's Pop Culture Club. And uh we are wherever you're currently listening to this and other places as well. Um Jonah, what have you been watching on the small screen?

SPEAKER_01

The small the tiny screen. Um I uh I have been watching the show called Legion. Whoa! From FX? Yes, wow from Fix Fix Fix Fix Fix Fix Fix Dude. This is a really cool show. Um so if for those who don't know, um this it yes That's me. Okay, that's you. Okay, that's me. Hey, hey there, hey bud. Man, you're so far away.

SPEAKER_02

I know the way we cut the video, like people won't know. This table is like what would you say, like a mile?

SPEAKER_01

I think it's like a mile or so. Yeah, it's like a mile long. It's crazy, but the power of technology, we can talk and feel like we're right next to each other. This room is a thousand years wide. Wow. A thousand years? You're measuring time and distance right now. Is that correct? That's correct.

unknown

Wow. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

So how old are you then? How old am I? Yes. Five, six. Five or six? Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I was thinking like like sixty-seven sixty-nine years? Yes. That's how old I thought you were this whole time. But because I'm so far from you, I can't really see your face, so I'll never make it that long. Yeah, you don't think so? Nope. Dang. Well, keep your head up, man. 65 though. 65, yeah. Okay. Um, dude, so Legion is is uh is a Marvel character. He is uh in the X-Men universe. Okay, okay, and um so far I've I've only watched a couple episodes, so I'm not super far in, but we don't really know if he is like a good guy or a bad guy. It kind of seems like he's a good guy because he's the main guy. Um Bless you. Bless you. And um, so basically it's like this guy, and he uh has been diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age, and so he's kind of been in and out of uh like mental hospitals, but uh some superpowered activity tends to go down in these hospitals. And so basically, he has psychic powers, um, can control things with his mind. He can he can swap bodies with people. Wow, which is really cool. He could freaky Friday, he could Freaky Friday, yes. Yeah, that's that's a that's a good reference right there. We need to be talking about Lindsay Lohan a little bit more in this pod. Yeah, you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think this is the first time we have. Yeah, let's try to make it every couple episodes. Okay, yeah. We'll bring her up. I like that. Yeah, yeah. And we need to be talking about Jamie Lee Curtis less. We talk about her every episode, it seems. I don't remember talking about her yet.

SPEAKER_01

We've talked about her every episode. Every episode.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, wow, okay.

SPEAKER_01

That's eluded me, but um okay. I really like so this show is why I like this, it's very indie. Um the performances are really per like high quality, professional. Um it doesn't feel like a Marvel show to me at all. It feels just like a cool indie drama that's very artsy. Uh, there's a lot of cool lighting. There's some cool scenes where um like the main character's name is David Holler. So David will just like he's like remembering things, and it's like he's kind of an unreliable narrator a little bit. You don't know what's going on here or if this thing happened. And like there'll be scenes where he like can't control his emotions and he's getting in a fight, and like everything in the room just gets like thrown up in the air and gets shattered, and it looks really cool. Interesting. Yeah. There's also been this like this so he he's kind of like remembering his past. This is there's like a loose storyline. Um but there is like he's remembering like his family, like his parents and his sister specifically. And so he's like a lot of scenes he'll be like with this therapist, and the episode I just watched, he was with the therapist, and um like the bad guy seems to be like this giant blob, like this, like a green. And he looks kind of like the mucus, like musinex okay like mucus guy, but like giant version. And I don't know what his name is yet, or even like the character from the comics, but um he looks pretty scary. He'll just like show up, and like whenever like people who are trying to help him, like the therapist or his friends, like when when he like thinks about this blob, he won't talk about it with anybody. So there's something going on there that I believe is tied to his superpowers with the blob. Okay, and um, so it's very interesting, but um it's also kind of zooming out, it's like it's created by this guy named Noah Hawley. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Which I never heard of him. You've you've heard of him? I was I was just looking up the show and I see that he's the creator, yeah. He um he's responsible for the well, he created the the Fargo TV show. Really? As well as that's cool, um, the newer Alien Earth TV show. Oh, cool. So this is a big FX Hulu guy here. Yeah. He seems to have some sort of deal with them or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he he's on the in with FX and Hulu. Yeah. Um yeah, it's it's definitely feels like Autour-esque, where it's like uh very yeah, like things the first two episodes I've seen are like very they feel the same, they look kind of have a similar tone. Nice. Yeah, and that yeah, it's just it's very enjoyable. Um it can get a little like it's about like kind of some mental illness stuff, so it can get a little hard to watch at times. Kind of yeah, a little bleak. Um, but it still has a lot of fun stuff too. So in the act, like I said, the acting is really, really cool. It has Aubrey Plazas in it. Nice. And then the main dude, Dan Stevens, is so good. I I don't remember what else I've seen him in, but like I feel like what I have is that he's quite good.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and then there's some other cool people too, but I'm I'm really excited to see where this goes.

SPEAKER_02

Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So that's that's all I got for Legion.

SPEAKER_02

That sounds great.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What's it? What do you got?

SPEAKER_02

Man, I've been watching um a couple of shows. I talked last week on how I watched all of the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett um during the month of May. And I really liked Mandalorian for the most part. I mean, like I said, I think those first two seasons are like especially like near the end of season two, like the season two finale, some of the best Star Wars content um out there. And then I I still thought season three was good. I think it gets like a pretty bad rap, it seems like, but I didn't think it was bad at all. I just think it's a lot of like um like I said last week, kind of like side questing stuff, and uh seems like maybe they were unsure where they were taking it for a little bit. Um, but that was great. Um tons of fun there. Um Book of Boba Fett is like pretty good, but I do think the best like three episodes are the ones that are Mando centric. Like he or he's at least in them, you know. Um I was surprised at the they like the two episodes I think there's like seven episodes, and I think five and six are like like five, I don't even think Boba Fett is in it. Like it's an episode of The Mandalorian under a different name, basically. Oh, yeah. Like I was really surprised, and like important stuff happened that I I was like, because at the end of season two, Mandu, Mando and Grogu split up, and Grogu goes to train with Luke Skywalker. And in the Book of Boba Fett, they reunite, and then at the beginning of Mando season three, they are uh like back with each other. Um so like if you had skipped Book of Boba Fett, I mean I'm sure they they clue you in with like the previously on or whatever, but um I just thought that was kind of a gutsy move. Like that is pretty uh integral to the story. Yeah, assuming everyone is also going to watch this kind of spin-off show about I mean it's Boba Fett, so why not? Right. He's pretty cool. Pretty cool guy. Yeah. Um Bobes. Yeah. So I thought, yeah, both of those shows uh are worth the watch. I think. Um Boba Fett's a little bit slower paced, but like I said, it gets there. It gets there eventually. Um in addition to that, uh um I'm gonna make a reference to a movie that I watched because it goes into a TV show that I've started recently. Um on I don't remember what day, but sometime this week, I watched the 2021 Suicide Squad. So this is the Suicide Squad, not to be confused with Suicide Squad. Oh, yeah, which is the Jared Leto one from 2016, which I don't think I've seen, or if I have, I forgot about it.

SPEAKER_01

Um It's in the depths of your mind.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. And I also I just realized um there the reason that I'm watching this movie is because uh in June, you and I are going to be seeing a movie called We are We forgot to announce this on our movie episode. Yes. But you know what? We have time. Yeah, we have time. We got a little time right now. So we're going to be seeing a movie. Do you want to announce it or do you want me to?

SPEAKER_01

Um I can I'll announce it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, ready? I'll drum roll you.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Supergirl.

SPEAKER_01

Supergirl.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna go in, we're gonna be going to see Supergirl. Yes. Which is part of the new DC universe.

unknown

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Which James Gunn has been kickstarting. Yeah, he's been killing that. He's been killing it. So I was doing some research on stuff that's already come out because there's a couple TV shows that are set in this universe that started like before Superman came out. So one of them is Peacemaker, the other one is Creature Commandos. And I think that one is animated. And it fits in maybe between seasons one and two of Peacemaker, I think. Um Peacemaker originates from the So the universe prior to the DCU is like the DC EU, DC extended universe. And that's like Man of Steel through I don't even know, like the Snyder Cut of Justice League, which is like older because that movie really came out in like 2015 or 16. Um but the Snyder cut's more recent. Um but so maybe it goes through Suicide Squad. I don't actually know what the last DC EU movie was. Um I have a quick question on that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Is that like leading is that right before the DCU? The DC EU? Or is there like a gap?

SPEAKER_02

I think I guess it's pretty close because so here's here's why I'm I watched that movie, even though it's set in the DC EU, because apparently then Peacemaker season one is also part of the DC EU, but and I have only gotten through the first three episodes, so I have no idea um what's going to happen, but it sounds like season two of Peacemaker takes place in the DCU. Wow. So I think he gets transported somewhere. Oh, cool, yeah, yeah. Um, yeah, I have I don't I'm only three episodes into the first season. Um but I wanted to watch The Suicide Squad to get some background because I know that's where he is kind of introduced, I think. Okay. I can see that, yeah. So yeah, that movie was um very funny, some really good action stuff, pretty brutal at times. Um, but uh I thought it would it did a good job of like um subverting my expectations, I will say. It's kind of a like you think something's going this way, and James Gunn pulls the rug out from under you and it goes a different way. And that happened like three or four times that I was like, I think I know where this is going. Really? I got a little cocky. Yeah, yeah. James Gunn reminded me why he's uh one of the best in the biz.

SPEAKER_01

The best in the biz. Hamanahana.

SPEAKER_02

Hamanahamana. Um yeah, no, I was I was uh not really sure what to expect, um, but it was great. It was really good.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, that sounds really cool. You've sold me on this. Nice. James AK 47 has made a cool movie. Just the one. Right, right.

SPEAKER_02

Um no, so yeah, then uh I've started watching Peacemaker, and um it's I'm enjoying it so far. John Cena is a funny guy. He's funny. He does seem he's he's got me Ling O L on the couch in here.

SPEAKER_01

But not r-O-F-L ing. R-ing O-F-L. Ring O T F L. Yes. You're not Ring?

SPEAKER_02

I'm Ring. Sometimes I'm Ring. Okay. Sometimes I get I get down and I'm I R.

SPEAKER_01

I love a good R. You love him. It's fun. Yes. Yes, yes, yes, it is.

SPEAKER_02

Um, yeah, so basically he's like Um Peacemaker is like not a great guy. He he's kind of like an anti-hero, it seems. Yeah. Um he just believes in freedom and stuff like that. I think his line is something about like um, I believe in liberty and I will kill as many men, women, and children as it takes to get it, or something like that.

SPEAKER_01

Is he kind of like the like the alt Captain America?

SPEAKER_02

I guess that's kind of what it is. Yeah, he just has like his values are definitely different from a Steve Rogers type. Um but yeah, it does kind of seem like that. Like he has a pet eagle whose name is Eagle.

SPEAKER_01

Oh cute. Oh, yes. Is he like on his shoulder too? Yeah, nice. He he he do be on the shoulder sometimes. What's what's the thing he that he wears on his head? It's a helmet.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. And he's got different ones. He actually, in like the first episode, he gets um he gets like released from prison um after the events of Suicide Squad. He like almost dies in the Suicide Squad. And then he wakes up in the hospital and they saved his life, and he leaves, and he's like, No one is telling me to go back to prison, so I'm just gonna go. And then he leaves and he gets to his house, and his dad has like this room, and I think maybe this has something to do with how he gets to another dimension eventually, because his dad has this room, and the door is like super weird, and it like it looks like he has different doors going to different places. Um, but in in this one, it's like a this really like cosmic-looking room. He's got a whole bunch of gear in there, and he has a bunch of different helmets for him. Because he took a cab, Peacemaker took a cab from the hospital to his dad's place, and he had no money to pay the guy, so the guy took his helmet.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, nice.

SPEAKER_02

So his dad gave him a new one, and the different helmets have like different powers. Like, I think I think the one he has right now does like a sonic boom thing. Wow, that has saved his life once already. So and then lo and behold, it turns out that he's actually not free to go. The the government find him, and um they basically uh they're kind of making him carry out missions for them, uh, or else they send him back to prison.

SPEAKER_01

I think there's a common theme in comics, and I'm stealing this from Trike. A main man trike.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Shout out to Trike Trike's Comic Alley.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Delavan. Delavan. Delavin. Go there.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

It's cool. Um, that the gumman is usually the bad guy in comic-related medium.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

I've never noticed this. It's a giant blanket statement to throw on and kind of wrap yourself around in. Yeah. But it's a little fuzzy. And it gets a little too hot in there. And I'm gonna say not all the time they're the bad guy. However, um, also in Legion, the government is trying to take Legion in and like test on him and probably use him as well. Uh, and so anyway, it's made me think of that. I think that's a common thing. That's messed up that they're doing that. That's a little bit wrong. Um, and also, didn't that happen to our good buddy uh Steve Rogers?

SPEAKER_02

Didn't that happen to him?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, our good our good old buddy, Steve. Stevie, how are you doing today, Steve? Come on.

unknown

Steve. Gosh, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he he signed up for it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, he signed up, but did he know what he was getting into? Did he know the extent did he know he was gonna be suspended in time? That I think it's safe to say he did not know. I don't think he did. I don't think he knew that. But he knew that um he he wanted to help, but and maybe this was not the way he wanted it. I don't know, maybe it was. It seems to be working out. Yeah, I think he's he's hanging in there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

For you know, for a man out of time.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Um Yeah, doing that's that's Peacemaker for me. Um I'm enjoying it. I'm excited to see where it goes. Oh, that sounds cool, man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that sounds cool. So was season one when you were describing that it was in the DC EU. Right. Like what was that made that was made a couple years ago then, right?

SPEAKER_02

Or like season one is 2022. Okay. Um, and then it actually it appears there is a little bit of a gap because Creature Commandos, which is the animated show, started in December of 2024. And I guess that would be like chronologically, if Peacemaker One is not DCU officially, I guess Creature Commandos would be the first thing. So there's like a two-year gap between Peacemaker season one and creature commandos.

SPEAKER_00

Gotcha, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, heck yeah, heck yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Heck yeah. Okay, um, I think that about does it for TV.

SPEAKER_01

You got anything else? Um I'll just shout out that I'm also watching Reservation Dogs. Oh. Which is also FX in Hulu. Wow. You look at you making UC subscription.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you.

SPEAKER_02

How many seasons of that are there?

SPEAKER_01

I think there's three. Three. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Where you where are you?

SPEAKER_01

I think we are halfway through season three. Oh wow. I it's either season two or three. I should know this, but I don't. Well, either way. We're yeah, dude, it's fantastic. It's so good. That's actually what we're gonna watch tonight. So hell yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I have been told on several different occasions that I should watch that show. So yeah. It'll come to you. Maybe this is the universe reminding me. It'll come to you. Yeah. It'll come to me. It will. Um yeah. So uh should we talk about some other movies that we saw? I think that we should.

SPEAKER_01

I think we should. We can kind of like sprinkle them in. Yeah. Like a little salt and pepper and oregano, possibly. That sounds good. Into our dish that we're making.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So um, well, here's a little pinch. Um Jonah and I recently took a bonus trip to the theaters together. It was quite a bonus. And we saw The Sheep Detective. The Sheep Detectives. Map starring huge Jacked Man.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and the other guy that we really like. Um, yes. Yeah. Freestarby. So funny. Rise Darwise. Dude, this movie was awesome. Yeah. So good. It was really good.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm glad we went. Yeah, we did a little side jaunt, a little bonus jaunt. I had been hearing like it it got really good reviews, and it was really surprisingly deep, um, heartfelt, touched on a lot of like kind of I don't know, important themes like love and loss, like when people die, um kind of a little bit like about like racism or like an outsider kind of view. Um and yeah, and then there was like it was also a Who Done It. Right. So they had that thrown in there, and there was great actors. Um, I like the little like small town they were in too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What what about you?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, same. I really liked it. Like you said, it was very uh very poignant movie, like uh um got into stuff more than maybe I expected from this kind of family-oriented flick. Um I I think um it made me think like, ooh, like if um, God forbid, if I ever have kids. Whoa. It made me think that if when they start asking me questions about death, I'll just throw this one on for them and it'll explain it for them. Oh, I see. Yeah, because it did a really like delicate and yes and good job of like um there were like a few kids in the theater for us, and there were parts where I was like, Is everyone doing okay? Like there were some parts that were like very emotional, and uh they're like that part where they wander into the neighboring farm and they're like seeing the like slaughterhouse was like kind of scary. Like that was scary. I was a little freaked out um as an adult man, so um but an adult man, yeah. Everybody seemed like they made it out of the theater, okay. So um there was one dead guy, but child? No. No. Oh, that guy works there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, he does. Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Was it Daryl or something? I think he was just taking a nap. Oh, he wasn't dead?

SPEAKER_00

Oh god, good.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

No, I saw him breathing.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I threw him a milk dud. Oh, good. Okay. And it went right in his mouth. Wow, did he and then he stopped breathing because he choked to death.

SPEAKER_01

You didn't tell me this? No. I thought you saw it. No, I didn't. I just credits. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's in the yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

There was a thing after the credits, wasn't there?

SPEAKER_01

Wasn't there like a little Yeah, she said um the one of the the sheep said, Oh, I still like, and it was somebody or something like that.

SPEAKER_00

Or no, I still think it was like it was the maid. Yes, that's what it was, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I saw I saw a review of this movie that I thought was particularly funny on Letterboxd. And uh I don't have the person's username up right now, but um it said Grass Onion.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, it's so good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, dude, how do people they they the the more succinct the review is on Letterboxd, the funnier it is, it seems. Yeah. It's true. Can we talk about the Glenn Powell one where I think they're reviewing um what's the movie that we saw with him in like February? How to make a killing. How to make a killing, yeah. Yeah. And they're like, why does it look like he just swallowed a square? Because his jawline is amazing.

SPEAKER_02

It's chiseled as hell. Um speaking of Glenn Powell, guess what?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, we've talked about him every episode. I think. Yeah, no.

SPEAKER_02

This is actually true. I think we've talked about him too much. Yeah. Um I have no plans to stop. I'm letting it happen. I'm letting it happen. If look, if he's gonna continue making movies that I'm gonna watch a year late, then I'm gonna talk about them.

unknown

A year late.

SPEAKER_02

And this one I was about a year late on. Um We recently sat down with some friends of ours and we watched the 2025 classic Twisters.

SPEAKER_01

I thought that was like 2021. I thought it was like 21. Shit, am I wrong? No, I think it's it's more Oh 2024. Okay. Alright. Well, I guess we kind of compromised a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

Um but yeah. I we it was a classic. Yeah, instant classic.

SPEAKER_01

Instant class.

SPEAKER_02

Um what were your what were your thoughts on this one?

SPEAKER_01

I thought it I thought it was pretty fun. It was um I didn't like love it, but I like that like the tornado's kind of the villain. Yeah. Like there's like a scene where it's like, isn't there a scene where it's like dragging somebody and like the person like can't get out of the way? I mean it's kind of like a big thing.

SPEAKER_02

When they're like trying to climb up that thing with getting like yes, yeah, just like sucked in.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and it's like, I mean, I I yeah, I'm I'm sorry, you know, because it is kind of like a realistic thing. But in the movie, like it was like it's a little bit comical. It was comical because it was like sucking up this person, yeah, and they're like, ah, they're trying to get away, and it was like he's the villain. So um I thought it was fun though. I thought um yeah, Glenn Powell was great. Um and yeah, it was what was the main actress's name? I didn't I didn't even I'm quizzing you right now.

SPEAKER_02

Daisy Edgar Jones.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah. Yeah, I thought she was really good too. And then also um I liked the dude who's in Hamilton, who's also in this. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember his name right now, but he's really cool. Is it Anthony Ramos?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, Anthony Ramos. Um but yeah, it was I thought it was fun, and then I actually haven't seen the original one. Yeah. Have you seen the original one?

SPEAKER_02

I have, yeah. I think I watched it probably around the time this was coming out. Because it was probably a little bit over a year ago or so. Um I like the original, it's pretty good. I I too thought this one was like fine, you know. Like I had a good time watching it. Uh we were with some good people and uh we had fun with it. Um but yeah, I was surprised it it really didn't have anything to do with the original that I could tell. Okay. Um it was just its own thing. Um interesting little tidbit. This movie's directed by Lee Isaac Chung, who also directed a handful of Mandalorian episodes.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Yeah that's that's kinda cool.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, sorry, one episode in season three. That's less exciting.

SPEAKER_01

No, that's that's pretty cool. Right. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, I thought it was I thought it was a good time. It was it was pretty it was pretty interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Alright. Um that's that. I have also uh uh kind of been going hard on the theaters lately. Um I think in the last week I've gone thrice. Mandalorian. Wow. And then in the middle of this past week, Rachel and I went to Obsession. And then uh just yesterday evening we saw the back rooms. Wow. I guess there's no the back rooms.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Just back rooms.

SPEAKER_01

Back rooms. Okay. Nice.

SPEAKER_02

Is there any front front rooms happening in that? There are no front rooms. Wow. It's all back there. Okay. Everything's back there. You have to like travel a little bit. You gotta travel a lot. A lot. It's like never-ending. Really? It's like a labyrinth.

SPEAKER_00

Gosh, dude.

SPEAKER_01

I don't have time for that. No one's I don't have any time. Trust me, so busy don't go in there. Yeah, I I don't think I'm gonna. It's bad news bear skis. Bear skis. So what uh I know we've talked about it before about both these movies. Yeah. Um, but um, yeah, did it did you kind of like them a little bit or like a little bit?

SPEAKER_02

I thought they were both uh pretty good. I thought um backrooms was kind of like I was telling you before, um, but for the listener, the viewer, um it was really strong in the first half, I thought, and like the storytelling and kind of like world building, but like really ambiguously like kind of stuff was really cool. I do love some found footage. Um, and this movie was like some parts found footage and mostly not, but there was some found footage like aspects to it, like video recording and stuff. Yeah, those parts were really effective. Um, and then I thought kind of like a little over halfway through, it kinda lost steam a little bit for me. Um, but that said, I do want to shout out the set design and like production design in general and everything. And the sound was like very cool. Uh the guy, Kane Parsons, who directed it and he did like the YouTube shorts. Um he's 20 years old.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So like as far as directorial debuts go, this is pretty cool. Like it's everything looks great. Um, so yeah, and then Obsession I thought was really good, just incredibly bleak. Like just a very like, yeah. I was um I was thinking about you during it because I was like Oh, I probably wouldn't have wouldn't have done well. I don't I don't think that's one that you should you should watch.

SPEAKER_01

I I saw um like a little clip came on this morning, like a trailer. Like I it was like literally like a second, and then like stopped it because I was like, I just don't want to nope. I don't want to listen to this. Like, I don't want to do it. The guy looked like really depressed, and I was like, oh man. Because I remember you were telling me about it.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, that one uh not the easiest watch of the year so far. Um but good though. Glad I saw it in glad I went in theaters because I feel like horror movies are I mean, all movies really, but like horror movies especially are pretty good in uh in the crowd.

SPEAKER_01

Was there was there a good crowd at Obsession for you guys?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It was pretty good. It was pretty nice.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was pretty packed. Yeah, yeah. It was cool. Um same with backrooms. Um the backrooms crowd was a little chatty for me, but really yeah. No, it was fine though. It didn't it didn't ruin my uh my experience or anything. I didn't have to I didn't have to give anybody a knuckle sandwich.

SPEAKER_01

Those are those aren't really tasty, I don't think. I never had one. I don't think they have them at Subway, but you never had one? No. They stopped serving them at Subway. Like at by a certain time or no, at a date. At a date. Yeah. Okay. It's already so it's already passed. Yeah. It's elapsed. They stopped. Okay. Well, I mean, is there like uh was there did you get one there or I never got one.

SPEAKER_02

Never got one? Okay. I've made homemade ones. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Any good or not that good? They're like really hard to get through. Oh, why is that? It's like cr it's like really hard, like grisly kind of. Did you like try to cut it up pretty good or no?

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_02

Just kind of just all in. Two pieces of bread. Yeah. Take a bite. Take a bite of it. Couldn't even I it was just b the bread was just coming off. I wasn't getting any of the knuckle.

SPEAKER_01

Is the knuckle what is the knuckle? Can you describe that to me?

SPEAKER_02

The knuckle?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like in the sandwich. Can you describe that to me? Is it the guy from Sonic? Is it the little red hedgehog guy, Knuckles?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Yes, it's him, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I was like the gloves? Yeah, exactly. With the and then he had the uh what's the meme that he had a couple years ago? Um I can't remember, I can't remember what it is.

SPEAKER_02

Is he the do you know the way? Yes. Is that him?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Do you know the way? Pretty unfamiliar with the Sonic lore, but um, I do know that one. Like Sonic.

SPEAKER_01

That's cool. Um all right, yeah. That's that's that's some good stuff, man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um so that's pretty much it. What do you say we uh wait?

SPEAKER_01

There's one other thing we gotta talk about. Oh um we have we have a couple minutes, real quick. Yeah. Okay, we went to see a show, another show.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I forgot about this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we did.

SPEAKER_02

We did.

SPEAKER_01

So Lucas and I and Rachel and and our friend Maddie, um, we all went to this show. We saw comedy bang bang. Woo! Bangin' it. Banging it. Bang. Pow pow pow pow pow. So if you're not familiar, they are a podcast comedy improv troop. Yes. T-R-O-U-P-E. Whoa, whoa. Not O-O-P. O U. Okay. P E. And I'll take your word for it. Yeah, I think so. Uh yeah, take it. So um, yeah, we saw them and they're really funny. Lucas and I are fans. Lucas is like a huge fan, like he he knows a lot more of it than I do, the lore. But um anyways, yeah, they're uh really funny. So they just do a lot of like improv comedy. So we saw it a couple days ago.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Two days ago, as of this recording.

SPEAKER_01

Two days ago, yeah. Wow, that that feels like longer now, but well, when this comes out, it'll be like two weeks. Two weeks ago, yeah. That feels more accurate to me.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I liked um I liked all the there was a lot of characters.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think there was like six people total, and Scott Ackerman is the the main dude, like the narrator, or not the narrator, but like the host. And uh he's kind of the straight man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And then these other people are just crazy characters. It's a show about interesting people. Yeah. Where they talk to interesting people. Yeah. Yeah. Toads. It was good, yeah. It was a good time. Uh that was my second time going to see them live, but I do listen to those folks a lot. Yeah. And all their adjacent shows, pretty much. So adjacent to Manzuka? Yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I had to. I had to.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, that was a uh a good time getting to see them. Yeah. And uh hopefully everything is going well with all those guys that they can come back again sometime.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. I would definitely be down to see them again.

SPEAKER_02

It's fun. Yeah. They're funny. Yeah. Alright. Well, now I think we are good to go. Yeah, I think we're good on issue seven. Issue seven. Issue seven is in the books. I still can't believe it.

SPEAKER_01

On the stands.

SPEAKER_02

On the stands. It's in your hands, in your hands, it's in your ears, it's upon your eyeballs.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's it.

SPEAKER_01

It's kinda kinda everywhere. Maybe it's a little too much, but you know, it's what we what we gotta do. It's what we got. We it's got we have to do it.

SPEAKER_02

So well, everybody, next week we will be talking music. Nice.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Music. So uh yeah, we will catch you then. Thanks everybody for listening. Bye bye. Bye.
