Hello out there and welcome to issue number 10 of Wesley's Pop Culture Club. My name is Jonah. And my name is Lucas.
SPEAKER_04Woohoo!
SPEAKER_02How are we doing today? We're doing pretty well. Pretty excited to be here again. Ooh. Doing our big our big tenth issue.
SPEAKER_01Tenth issue, man. I just I can't believe it. It's been flying by. Can't believe it. They've been flying off of the presses, haven't they? Flying off.
SPEAKER_02We have a new printing press. We're doing great.
SPEAKER_01That was a big problem last time.
SPEAKER_02It was, yeah. But thanks to our printing press guy, it was free. We're good to go. This one should last at least a couple months.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Well, that's really all we need, I think, right? That's all we need. Yeah. Just a little bit at a time. Yeah. Yeah. We can get we're getting them for free. So yeah, this guy's a BP Pro, man. One day. One day. We'll just need for today, I guess, really, right? Yeah, we just have to get through this one. Get through this one, yeah. Okay. Yeah, hopefully that'll happen. So I'm I'm hoping for that. Just hoping. Yeah. But uh so today we are going to talk about movies. Yeah, we are. And you ever seen them? Uh I've seen a couple.
SPEAKER_02A couple of them? Yeah, like eight to ten. Yeah. When was that? In the past month. In the past month. Yeah, but those that's it. None before that? No. Wow. Even the movies we talk about on this podcast, it's just a lot of Wikipedia reading. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah. Well, you're a good reader. You're you read a lot, so you're prepped for that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I didn't even tell. I I thought you had watched all the stuff in the past nine issues that we were talking about.
SPEAKER_02No, I kinda we go to the theaters together, and then like you may notice at some point I disappear. I have noticed that, yeah. For like about an hour and a half. I just hang out in the lobby. Okay. You know, they have an arcade in there. Oh, yeah. I go in there and I play some speed racer or something. Nice. Galaga.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I love Galaga.
SPEAKER_00Galaga?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. What is what is that? Oh, okay. Yeah. Does that answer your question? No, not really. It's a fun game. Okay. Yeah. That sounds pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01Are you Wikipediaing like while you're out playing an arcade too? Sometimes movie.
SPEAKER_02Uh, but I really just kind of like to lock in. Yeah. Just focus on one thing. It's hard to read the Wikipedia of a movie and beat Pac-Man. Yes. You know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I could imagine that'd be pretty difficult. Yeah. Huh. Okay, well, I learned something new today. So uh I am impressed. Thank you. It seems to amaze me in that department. So but uh so we're gonna talk about some movies. Uh hopefully, you know, for for you, the listener, you are you're ready, you know. Hopefully you're just like, wow, what movie you're gonna talk about, what movies, you know, and I don't know when I'm gonna say that, but it'll probably happen in the next couple minutes. But uh first, we're gonna talk about some other movies. Some other ones that we've seen this past month. Yeah. So maybe I'll say the movie we're gonna should I say it right now? You think I'll say okay, so the main movie that we're gonna talk about is Supergirl.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Supergirl. I'm happy to say I stuck around for this one. Okay, good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I actually did watch this one.
SPEAKER_02You were in the whole time. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01I kind of remember you being there a little bit. Um but yeah, that's good. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's good. So I've got a maybe my knowledge of this one will appear to be more extensive because I actually saw it. Right.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Maybe not. I we'll see where the tide goes. You know, we'll see kind of what happens.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I I think I'm ready for that. Okay. So I think I'm ready for that. Yeah. So what other other movies uh would would you like to discuss?
SPEAKER_02Okay, so um I I like uh doing this thing where we kind of talk about some movies that we've watched since we last did a movie episode. And as we discussed, it's been about a month.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_02So I've had a month to just run wild on movies. I've been raw dogging movies left and right.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, that's pretty awesome.
SPEAKER_02Some new, some old. Okay. Some first times, some rewatches.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02So that's everything in between. Everything in between.
SPEAKER_01Man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's exciting. It is. Is it all right here, or do you like go visit, you know, other friends or family?
SPEAKER_02Am I watching here? Oh, actually, I did uh there's some different different locations.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I'll get into that. Okay. I'll get into that, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, good.
SPEAKER_02So the first movie that I watched in the last month, these are chronological too.
SPEAKER_01Okay, chronological.
SPEAKER_02In in the order that I watched them. Not by release date.
SPEAKER_01Got it.
SPEAKER_02And I'll make sure to let you know where I was for each viewing.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02So first off, I watched Pizza Movie on Hulu.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay, yes.
SPEAKER_02I watched that here.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02In this very room. Oh, okay. This is my living room.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_02Viewers on YouTube, you can't see most of it, but you're getting about twenty-five percent of it, probably. Yeah, it's it's pretty large. Um we talked about no, we have. It's a thousand years wide. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, we have.
SPEAKER_02So I forgot that we did, yeah. It's like I say 25%, because this is like most of it. The rest of it's just like you can't even. It's 25% of what you'd be able to see with the naked eye. Got it. If you were to look out. Like in space. Right. Because what is the human you can see like two miles or something?
SPEAKER_01Uh I'm not sure. That seems like a lot.
SPEAKER_02It does seem like a lot.
SPEAKER_01It seems like pretty far.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'm wrong. If you're nearsighted, you're not gonna be able to see that far. Oh no, got it. Yeah, no. Like a couple inches.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Wait, is nearsighted, doesn't that mean you have trouble seeing things that are closer to you?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_02It means you can see things that are closer better.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Yep. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I have no eye problem. My eyes are great, so I don't know anything about it. I've never been to an optometrist. Oh, okay. For myself.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02I go for other pizza sometimes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay. Sometimes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's fun of it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a cool place to go to. I've been to it once.
SPEAKER_02So the optometrists are funny. So pizza movie was pretty good. Um it's a nice uh it's just a goofy comedy movie, kind of like a modern day, like feels like a classic Stoner movie, just updated to today. Like it's nice. Essentially, about these two kids in college who order a pizza and take a bunch of drugs, and then they have to go get the pizza.
SPEAKER_01I feel like that I didn't I haven't done drugs, but I ordered a lot of pizzas back in my college days.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you so you're 50%. 50% there, right?
SPEAKER_01I could see like half of it. And um, yeah, and so I could see that uh being very uh popular with the college kids. Oh, yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02No, yeah, I liked it. I thought it was very funny. None of it really made any sense, but the movie was very aware of that and kind of like was making fun of itself. So there's some good jokes in there. I I I laughed. Okay. I didn't cry.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Not this time.
SPEAKER_01We'll let it let it slide.
SPEAKER_02We'll let it slide.
SPEAKER_01I do remember we were talking about that when we watched Twisters. Oh, yeah. Maybe one of the other when we all had a big together watching a movie, and then we were talking about maybe watching that one.
SPEAKER_02Yes. But that was my choice, I think, for that particular night. I wanted to watch pizza movie. Yeah. And I was outvoted. Well, because I think Maddie had already seen it. Right, yeah. We try not to see it. We do try to watch movies that none of us have seen in a group, so yeah. I think uh Twister's it's that was a movie we watched. I thought it was D's. Yeah. Yeah. We've talked about it. We did. Go listen to our Mandalorian episode six or whatever. Yeah. Um okay, so next movie I saw, this one was a theater watch. Wow. Okay. I went with Rachel and the aforementioned Maddie, and we saw Stop That Train.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yes, okay.
SPEAKER_02Stylized as Stop That Train. Are those exclamation points? They are. Oh wow, okay. Nice. Oh yeah. Um, this movie was an exclamation point. Take that as you will. Wow, that's a lot. This is the new the new RuPaul flick. Um, so there are a lot of uh RuPaul's drag race stars in this movie. Um this is one of those movies that I don't know how to rate. I don't know how to rate it because I had a great time watching it, but also it was objectively bad. But it was a great time. It was way more slapsticky than I expected it to be, like going in. Like it kind of reminded me of like those um like like airplane in the naked gun, oh yeah, kind of things where it was just like wordplay and like prop gags and like funny physical comedy and like recurring bits and stuff. Totally. So I really enjoyed it for that. I will say they definitely used like gen AI for some of the backgrounds and stuff. Not a huge fan of that. So that's surprising to me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then I guess the director was kind of back and forth on admitting it. So really that's surprising. When the movie was coming out, I I think they said like we didn't use it, and then people were like, you definitely use it, and then they were like, Yeah, we did, and then they went back to saying no, we didn't. So it's been an interesting roller coaster, as was the movie. What who directed that movie? The director of I'm quizzing you right now. I don't know it. I'm looking it up. The director of Stop That Train is Adam Schenkman.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I've not heard of him.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01What can I just I want to ask, what is the what's the plot?
SPEAKER_02Um, so essentially there are these two women, and they are um like train uh hostesses, kind of. Like they're they're like, you know, bringing people snacks and stuff. Oh yeah. And they get fired from their job at I'm gonna I don't know if this is right, but in my mind it's like stank railway or something. And so uh they get let go, and then they take outfits for this rival railway, and they get on this other train pretending to be employees of Glamazonian Railway, and essentially the train is running into a Stormaganza, which is just like a world ender of a storm. Okay, it's a huge storm, and uh they are going through this storm, and then they find out that there's no way to stop the train. Something happened with the conductor who was played by Chris Parnell, he was really funny. Oh, I like him. Yeah, yeah. Um and then they have to find a way to stop that train.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh. Yeah, that is quite a setup right there.
SPEAKER_02And RuPaul is the president. Nice. Yeah. It was it was good. I enjoyed myself, I had a good time. Um, but yeah, pretty dumb. Just overall. Like, but I love dumb stuff. Yeah, you do. Yeah, you do. Kinda what I was expecting, I'll say. Um, next up, I re-watched Superman from last year. Nice. In preparation for our movie today. Okay. Love that movie.
SPEAKER_01It's a great flick, man.
SPEAKER_02We've talked about it in the past.
SPEAKER_01We have. That was back in our giant size issue.
SPEAKER_02Our first issue. Number one. Go check it out if you got three hours. Which I know. Yeah, you do. Yeah. The Superman bit's probably like five, ten minutes. So go find them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_02And then I went to and that was a home watch. Superman was at home.
SPEAKER_00Toads.
SPEAKER_02Uh, and then I went to a drive-in movie theater. You ever hear of these? I have heard. You're pulling with your car, right? You you said you have. I have. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, never mind. Uh, and I saw Toy Story 5. Yes, that's right. That's right. And I'd say it caught about 85% of it.
SPEAKER_01What yeah, why is that?
SPEAKER_02Um drive-ins are just kind of crazy. They're really crazy. Where we weren't like exactly centered like in the lot. We were kind of off to the side, and there's an intersection over here, like off to the right. So it was like the screen and then a traffic light right in my face for the whole movie. And also when the movie was starting, the sun was not quite fully set. Yeah. Um, and so uh there's a few dark scenes right off the bat, and there was just no way. Oh, okay. Yeah, you couldn't. There was no way I was gonna be able to tell what was going on there. And there's a a lot of the movie deals like pretty heavily with um technology, and there's some text messaging going on. Okay. I gave up trying to read them. I gave up trying to read the text messages.
SPEAKER_03Dang it.
SPEAKER_02But you know, it's Toy Story, it's not the most high concept thing in the world. So I've I've I pulled it together in the end. I got it. Sure. I thought it was deceit 85% that I'm sure I saw. Yeah. Yeah. But I do feel like I owe it another viewing in the proper setting.
SPEAKER_01I think that it is expecting that of you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, so that would be good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And I'll say, uh I don't know, yeah, I just thought um it wasn't my thing, and I guess I mean that both in the sense that I didn't necessarily vibe with it too heavy, but also I it's not my thing in that I don't think I'm the target audience necessarily. Although there's a case to be made for like the nostalgia thing that I grew up watching the Toy Story movies, so it's it's nice to go back to that universe, but yeah, it's also I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Did you like do you really like some of the older ones? Yeah. You do, okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh, one through three are great. I think they and actually I haven't seen four, so I don't know. Oh but I do think the ending of three is just the perfect ending to that franchise. I really think they probably could have stopped after that. Um and after seeing five, I feel like that's only more solidified in my brain.
SPEAKER_01Okay, interesting point. I haven't seen five yet, but you've seen four? I did see four, yeah. I did like four, yeah. I didn't love it. I think I didn't think it was as good as like one and two. Yeah. Um was three was the end of that. Is that where is Andy going to college? I think, yeah, and they donate the toys. Yeah, to Bonnie, I think, the little girl. That sounds right. I think or is it to the to like a place?
SPEAKER_02I thought it was a place. Okay. And then I think Bonnie might be four. And she's also in five, I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that's what it is. Um yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownCool.
SPEAKER_02So that's Toy Story. Then I went to my friend Miles' house. Also, if you're watching the YouTube, Miles is responsible for giving me this King T'Chala Black Panther action figure. This is amazing. I went over there the day before Father's Day to his house, and he set up a big projector in his garage.
SPEAKER_01Whoa, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_02And we watched Brian De Palma's Dressed to Kill. Really? Okay. I have not heard of that. It was interesting. I liked it. Um, I do think there's maybe some problematic elements to it, but 1980, you know. Yeah. Take what you can get. Um, so it was a very interesting story, and it's got uh Michael Cain in it. Oh, cool. Yeah, he was really good. Um, he's always pretty solid. I was saying I think he's had the same voice since he was probably 10. What are you doing over there? Come on. Right. Um, yeah, that one that one was fun. Uh it was a good time, good excuse to hang out with some friends, and he had a great sound system, and the projector was really cool. So um hopefully more to come of those. That's sweet. Yeah. Then on Father's Day, I went over to my dad's place. Oh, yeah. He grilled us up some steaks. Wow. And we watched High Crimes.
SPEAKER_01High Crimes. High Crimes. Okay, what is this one?
SPEAKER_02This is a 2002 thriller starring Ashley Judd.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Jim Cavizel.
SPEAKER_01I don't know either of these people. I don't think.
SPEAKER_02How about this one? Morgan Freeman? Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know him. I know, I know him, yes.
SPEAKER_02And a very young Adam Scott.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_02Okay. It was good. It was um Ashley Judd is a lawyer, and she's married to Jim Cavizel, and Jim Caveezel is a veteran, and um he is they're like out on a walk, and he's suddenly arrested and put into like military prison for war crimes.
SPEAKER_01Whoa.
SPEAKER_02So she becomes his defense and tries to prove his innocence. There's a little a few twists and turns in it. It was good though. Okay. I liked it overall. Pretty good. What what made you guys pick that one? Um, I don't know. I he gave the remote to me and I couldn't find anything. Nice. So I gave it back to him, and he said, I've been watching movies from 2002. And then he picked that one, and I was like, alright. I think he had seen it before, but that was a first timer for me. Um, and then my last two kind of go hand in hand. These are both home watches. Okay. Watched them in this room. Spider-Man Homecoming. Oh, cool. And Spider-Man Far From Home. Alright. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Those are both on those. I love those movies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I think I think Homecoming for me is a little bit stronger. Just because I think I think Far From Home is a little more, they're leaning kind of into the goofy side of things, which is fine. I like that. But it does get quite dark. And like I the second half of Far From Home is some of the best Spider-Man stuff, I think, out there. Um so they both have their moments, but I like them both. The real the real heavy hitter for me is is No Way Home.
SPEAKER_01That that's the third one, right? Yeah. Yeah, I I gotta rewatch that one. Yeah. That one is because I mean you got the three spider men. Right. Like the actors, like that's pretty cool, they did that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And you got Brand New Day coming up. Yes. Which seems like it'll you know, it'll be kind of affected by the stuff that happened in No Way Home. So that's it. That's a lot of movies. That's a lot of movies.
SPEAKER_01How many was that then? Like seven? Four? No, no. I think it was eight jinx. Eight. Dude, nice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I'm gonna I'm gonna flip it around on you. Okay, yeah. What it what have you seen recently? Because I know I know you made a little expedition to see something.
SPEAKER_01I did a little expediting and I did I did see um with with two of my friends, we saw the Jack Johnson Surfle Music. Surfle music. Surfle music. Surfle music. The documentary. Nice. And it was really cool. It was like uh so that was in a movie theater. Okay, okay. Thank you. So that was in a specific movie theater. And um that was it was kind of like a limited release. Right. It's like all throughout the world too. Yeah. So it was kind of cool. Um but it was awesome. It kind of talked about like they like broke it down. Like the first part was like surf, then film and music.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like kind of thirds, and it was basically like about Jack Johnson's his life. So yeah, so like um he started out as like a semi-pro surfer, pretty much. He was surfing when he was a kid, and um and then like it was just yeah, it was it was really cool how they showed that when he was younger, and then um then he got into like a really bad surf accident. He was in the hospital, and then at that time is when he started playing guitar more because he just like couldn't go out and surf.
SPEAKER_02And you say surf accident, what is this like he fell?
SPEAKER_01It was he was in an attack of some it wasn't an attack, no, it was like he he like crashed into like some coral reef. Oh yeah, and like he like knocked out his front or like his teeth, and it had like a gash somewhere on his face, and then I think he was in like a sling too, I think. So but like his face got kind of like hit pretty hard, yeah. Um so yeah, it looked pretty bad.
SPEAKER_04Damn.
SPEAKER_01So I think he Was like 17 or 18 when that happened. Um, and then yeah, so then he just like started playing guitar. I think it was like a picture of him like in like the hospital bed playing guitar or something.
SPEAKER_02Okay, nice.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, and then so then he just like played for like for a while and then he got really good. I thought it was really interesting too that so like I know like some like surf pros, like I've heard of them, I'm not like friends with them, um, which would be cool. Yeah, that would be cool. But there's there was like a group of them that all grew up together. So it's like Jack Johnson, and then um uh Rob Machado is one of the guys' names. Okay, Kelly Slater, and then there was another guy, Tomayo Perry, I think is his name, and then there's like a younger guy, um uh what is it? Uh John John Florence. Okay, and he like is I think he's like around our age, maybe a little older, because I believe he was in the last Olympics representing the US. Yeah. So like all but all those dudes, maybe besides Tomaio Perry, because he passed away, um but were like world-class surfers. And I thought it was really interesting that they were like a group of friends. So like they like uh would kind of play music and just like hang out, but it's funny to see how like because I think Kelly Slater was like a 10-time world champion or something crazy. Um, but then like there's all this like footage.
SPEAKER_02We've done ten of these, just saying. Yeah, we're we're getting there, right? If all of us are world champion episodes or issues, we can be in the same conversation.
SPEAKER_01We're now 10 time champs. Who decides that? Is somebody gonna let us know? Oh, you're gonna win. Okay. So you think we've we've done it? Yeah. Nice man.
SPEAKER_02Sweet. I'm Judge Judy and executioner.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Yeah, that's a lot to handle. Wow. You don't really look like her though. Who? Judge Judy. Who's that? You know who that is. You don't know who that is? No.
unknownOh man.
SPEAKER_01I thought you were her. No.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01No, okay. No, I'm not sure. That's that's a different lady then. Must be. Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01You think it was Ashley Judd? No, I don't know who that is. Oh, okay. Um but yeah, no, it was really good. And they they did a lot of like filming throughout this whole time. Nice. And um yeah, it was just uh awesome documentary. It talked a lot about like like the creative process and just like making things. And um, yeah. So I really enjoyed that. It was fun.
SPEAKER_02Very nice. Yeah. I love those things when it's a documentary, like someone puts out a documentary and they uh are kind of saying, you know, oh uh I'm uh pretty famous now, and I just so happen to have been filming all of this stuff that happened to me. Yeah, you know, and now it's a huge or a a movie or something like that. I I think that's interesting. Like the Val Kilmer documentary, like he would just when he was young, he just and probably into older too, but he just recorded everything and eventually had enough to make a whole documentary out of it. It's pretty cool. That is sweet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, to be able to revisit that, that's that's pretty that's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. If you want to hear our thoughts on the music of Surf Film Music, go check out issue number eight.
SPEAKER_01Yes, man.
SPEAKER_02Because we talked about it. We did, yeah.
SPEAKER_01We we to we talked about it a little bit ago. So it was cool, it was cool to see those songs in there too. Yeah, and they kind of like talked about them more like the one I think I was talking with you, there's a song called Greenboard. And in the documentary, it was like this actual board that different pros and different people would just take turns using. Oh, and then he would like like Jack would like film it, and like you could see how differently everybody wrote it. And um, so it was like a shared thing that they wanted to like document, and it's kind of like it was like a notoriously kind of like crappy board, like it was just really like poor quality. But then they like so that was like 20 years ago or 30 years ago, and then they in the documentary they like refurbished it with like the original designer, the original dude, so it was kind of cool.
SPEAKER_02That is cool, yeah. Hell yeah!
SPEAKER_01Nice man. Alright, now you're caught up if you're listening to our our side movies that we saw.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Now we're gonna get to the meat and potatoes of this issue. The taters. And we are talking about, as Jonah mentioned earlier, Supergirl. What's that? Are you playing Pac-Man?
SPEAKER_00No. Oh. I was shooting.
SPEAKER_02That noise sounded really familiar to me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was kind of cool.
SPEAKER_02That was cool. You could be a foley artist. Oh, yes, that would be fun. I'm telling you, close my eyes. It sounds like there's a helicopter in here.
SPEAKER_01It's a little windy. I thought I was gonna get hit. Yeah, we you gotta be careful, okay?
SPEAKER_02We can't do that anymore. I'm scared.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02We'll just we'll take it one at a time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Alright, so we were talking before recording here. And I think uh I think what we're gonna do here is kind of take uh take our listeners through the plot a little bit, and then at the end we'll give our our reviews, if you will, as to why they thought. Yeah. Okay. So I've written down some probably too much, but some main plot things here to get us through. This movie, Supergirl, 2026, directed by Craig Gillespie, and written by Anna Nugueira, is about an hour and 48 minutes long. And here's some plot. Ready? Okay. This movie starts with Kara Zorel, who is Supergirl. She's on a bender. She is visiting planets with red suns, celebrating her 23rd birthday. She is regularly ignoring calls from Superman and dismissive to him when she actually does talk to him. He kind of wants her to come back to Earth and settle down. Um, at the same time, these guys, the brigands, led by Krem of the Yellow Hills, a bad ombre, if ever I've seen one. We really get a lot of bad ombre in the show. We really do. Yeah. They descend on this planet, they come to the uh sort of major side character, Ruthie. They come to her house, they kill her entire family during the course of this interaction, explosives are detonated, and their ship is destroyed. Now Ruthie escapes with a sword made by her father. She goes to a bar where Supergirl is partying and asks for help, uh, sort of getting vengeance on this creme guy, right? And I want to say this is my first interjection here. Okay, yeah. There's a song playing uh during this scene that's a great song called Catch These Fists by Wet Leg. And Supergirl's kind of dancing and she trips over the ox cord, or maybe crypto does. I think crypto pulls it out at one point.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um and uh it cuts out very suddenly, but great song. If you haven't heard it, check it out. It's a good one. Um and then uh a patron of the bar steals Ruthie's sword, is about to leave when Supergirl fights him and gets Ruthie the sword back, but declines to help her on her quest. The next morning, Ruthie shows up at her ship and once again asks for her help, and once again, Supergirl's like, nah. And then at the same time, they're out walking crypto. Krem of the Yellow Hills and his brigands come up to the ship, and they take the ship and they shoot crypto with a poison dart. Shouldn't have done that. Shouldn't have done that. Shouldn't have done it. Big bad move by a bad hombre. So Supergirl takes Crypto to like an alien vet or something and discovers that he has 72 hours to live. She has 72 hours to find a cure. So she embarks on her own mission to retrieve the antidote which Krem keeps on his person as an interrogation tactic. She tells Ruthie to look after Crypto while she is gone and leaves without her. Ruthie's quite upset by this because she wants vengeance on Krem for her own shit. So, Supergirl gets on a space bus. I don't remember why. I don't remember what leads she had here. Where she was going, but she gets on a space bus. I can't remember. Yeah. She gets on a space bus, and Ruthie also sneaks on board. Um, and there was a pretty funny interaction with the two drivers here. Oh, yeah. Our guy Lloyd and his his little buddy that was with him. These two were pretty funny. Totes. I enjoyed them a lot. Um what quick interjection. Was the little buddy Seth Rogan? No. Stop! Hello everyone. This is Lucas chiming in with an editor's note, as is my right, as the editor of this here program. I am no history revisionist, so I'm leaving that comment in. However, Jonah was correct, as always. Seth Rogan is 100% the voice of Lloyd the bus driver's tiny companion. He was uncredited for his role, which is where my confusion stemmed from. I would like to take this opportunity to formally apologize to Seth Rogan and his loved ones, and to thank everybody who has made it this far into this issue for listening. And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. Oh, okay, I thought it was. No, yeah, I did too. But I don't I don't think it was. Okay. Do you know who it was? I don't. Okay. That's right. I can't remember his name.
unknownThat's fine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Then after a brief skirmish with some space pirates, um, Supergirl is forcefully ejected from the bus and floats through space long enough to be touched by light from a yellow sun, which revitalizes her and gives her her powers back. Yes. So basically, she comes back to the ship and she fucks up these space pirates.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, which is awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pretty cool. And interrogates them to learn Krem's whereabouts. They tell her that she's on he is on the planet Bilky, which you said is named after it's named after the artist who did uh Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Right. Which is kind of like a a run that sounds like it's kind of inspired that inspired the movie.
SPEAKER_02Sort of a template kind of thing that they use a template. Okay. Cool. That was a nice little Easter egg. That was, yeah. So Supergirl and Ruthie go to this planet Bilkie, they head into a bar, and they learn that young women on this planet are being forced into marriage with the brigands. Um Supergirl gets into a fight with pretty much everybody inside this bar. And it was kind of cool. They showed Ruthie for like most of the time, like kind of hunkering down while in the background all this chaos was going on.
SPEAKER_01That was a really I want to say that I loved that fight scene. Yeah. Because I feel like that was like her kind of major that was like the first major one, it felt like.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um afterward, the two meet Lobo, played by Jason Moa, who is an immortal mercenary/slash bounty hunter with a god complex, she says, uh, who's there to kill a brigand lieutenant. Um, Ruthie and Supergirl talk with the owners of the bar, Bomar and Merrick, who offer to take them in while they wait for a friend who has information on where to find the brigands. So they go back to Bomar and Merrick's house, and Supergirl shares her origin with Ruthie, um, which was kind of nice. Like I was saying, I'm not usually a flashback guy, but I actually, not knowing too much about Supergirl going in, uh, this kind of helped me a lot. So you find out that uh Supergirl is the daughter of Zorel, who is Jorel's brother, Jorel being Cal El, Clark Kent's father from Krypton, and her mother is Allura. And during the destruction of Krypton, Zorel activates this force field, which cuts off the city of Argo from the rest of the planet and kind of sends it off on its own. Um eight years later, Kara is born, and eventually it's discovered that the force field used to separate the city released a bunch of kryptonite into the air, which is now slowly killing the residents. Very unfortunate. Um her mother dies of kryptonite poisoning, and Zorel replicates his brother's plans for the escape pod that was used to send Clark Kent, Cal L to Earth. He puts Kara and Crypto in the escape pod, and they land near the Fortress of Solitude, where they are met by Clark. This was a pretty funny scene.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that scene was awesome.
SPEAKER_02I enjoyed this scene. He's like talking to her, she doesn't speak English at all, and then he starts talking louder, and he's like, Why am I talking louder? You don't you don't know what I'm saying? This was pretty good. Um, and then after that, there is a scene of her in an apartment in metropolis being overwhelmed by the noise of the city. I think she says, like, how can this be home or something like that? Um, so not fitting in very well. Yeah. Um, and now we kind of understand after the flashback what some of her baggage is and why she maybe acts out the way she does. Um back in present day, she goes to ask her hosts about their friend and they poison her ass. That was a that was very much a twist for me. Twist. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, wow. Twisted twist. They poison her and they reveal that they're planning to exchange her and Ruthie for their daughter, who is a victim of trafficking by the brigands. So as the brigands arrive, Supergirl drinks a ton of milk and vomits way too much to get the poison out of her system.
SPEAKER_01There's a lot of vomiting, like this whole front half of the movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. A lot of vomiting. Like more than you would probably think, maybe none going in. Yes. I did not expect it's a lot more than that. Um so then a fight breaks out sort of in this town, uh, and Lobo is there, who's seizing the opportunity to kill the man that he's there to kill. Um, Supergirl during the fight prevents Ruthie from killing Krem. And because of this, he kills both Bomar, Merrick, and their daughter, Sarna, uh, before escaping, which is pretty bleak. Yeah. Pretty bleak there. Uh Supergirl, overcome with guilt, decides to go it alone, uh, leaving with some locals and heading to the brigands location on the planet Barrington. Do you know anything about this name? I don't. No.
SPEAKER_00I do not, yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Uh however, Barrington is both yellow and green sun class planet. Uh so when they drop her off, the green sun is the one currently in the sky, and she pretty much immediately goes down, uh, being weakened by the effects of the green sun. She is then tended to by Ruthie, who once again secretly tagged along on board the alien ship. Then Ruthie drags her into this cave, leaves at some point, and is kidnapped by brigands nearby. She's taken to their ship, where she is imprisoned along with Lobo. They had some funny dialogue between the two of them. Um then eventually she manages to escape, and she frees him as well. They get topside on this ship, and Ruthie is about to be killed by Krem when Supergirl shows up, saves the day, as the planet has rotated to such a degree that the yellow sun is now in the sky, giving her her powers back again. Um then, with Lobo's assistance, Supergirl defeats the brigands, frees the captive brides on board. She once again convinces Ruthie not to kill Krem, stating that she will carry him with her forever if she does so, which is a valuable lesson. Yes. Then Ruthie walks away and Supergirl uses her sword to kill Krem herself. Which was a little uh ballsy. A little ballsy, pretty hard. I feel like I've seen that, like, I don't know if you want to call it a trope in other things, but like sending away a more innocent character being like, don't do this, and then just doing it, you know. I feel like that felt familiar to me, but now I like I'm struggling to think of an example. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um me too.
SPEAKER_02But so then Supergirl recovers the antidote, returns to crypto, saves him in time. Ruthie and Supergirl finish celebrating her 23rd birthday, and Supergirl returns to Earth, has a reunion with Clark, and affirms that she is there to stay.
unknownOh, yes.
SPEAKER_02No post-credit scene.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was surprising.
SPEAKER_02They gotta start putting up disclaimers.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that would be nice, because it's like five minutes. We sat around for five minutes. Yes. We could have been Wikipediaing what happened in the movie during that time. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I could have been looking at reviews to figure out how I should feel about this movie. Same brother. Anyways, like I said, I wrote down too much for the plot, but that's it. That was it.
SPEAKER_01That's exactly what happened in that movie. No, thank you for that because it helped uh fill some gaps.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01And uh it was fun to visualize it while you were staying. Um now we're more equipped to talk about it. We are more equipped in our tool belts. Um, our podcast tool belts that that are given to us by certain people that we can't talk about.
SPEAKER_02No. I'm gonna shut this down if I do. We're getting too close.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right, good, okay.
SPEAKER_02But uh Jonah, I gotta ask. Yes, what did you think of this movie?
SPEAKER_01So I yeah, I thought I thought it was pretty good. Okay. I did not like love this. Sure. Like, oh my gosh, I love this. That was not my reaction. I've seen your reaction when that's the case.
SPEAKER_02This was not that.
SPEAKER_01It was not that, it was not that, it was not the same. Um look, let me reason with you here. Let me just be straight with you. So, you know what I'm saying? So I like when so I I'm thankful to get a supergirl or like that universe themed type of movie, right? Because that's as funny, it's kind of like with Captain America last year. I love that character, I'm happy we got one.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01Um, so this kind of was like that. It wasn't like an amazing story to me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, so I would say in a broad view, that's kind of how I felt, and then a couple other things. Um, I think what worked for this for me was like she struggled a lot in that first half of the movie, like we were saying, she's kind of like partying a lot and is like putting off her kind of true self. And by the end, it's like cool because she like realizes that and she's like coming home and is like has a cool arc. So I I think that I am I'm here for that for any piece of media I consume. Sure. Um and I thought there was some great music choices, like you talked about wet leg. Yeah, there were some other ones I did not look up the bands and stuff, but a lot of good like female artists, like kind of like punk. So definitely like some kind of feminist vibes, which I really liked. Because last summer we got Superman in the movie, and now we got Supergirl, and I think that that is cool. I want to see more like women lead, yeah, women leads in like a huge superhero movie, is like really cool. Yeah. Um, and then oh, I I think Lobo for me. Oh, yeah, we talked about this, was my favorite part of the movie. His his costume is incredible. He's got these like red contact lens lenses in, and like sometimes they kind of like get brighter, and yeah, he looks so cool, he's really funny. Um every time he's on screen, I'm just like, like, let's go! Like, it's just getting pumped. I I did not know a lot about him. Like, I I really like Scotty Young, he's a comic book artist and writer, and he's currently writing uh the Lobo series, right? And which I just picked up number one, yeah, because of the movie. Um, but that was my first introduction to the character. Like, maybe I maybe like I saw him on like one other comic book, but not on like screen. Um, so I think he's really cool. Their duo kind of aspect is really cool because they're like very opposite. Um so Lobo was cool, and then I think also like having Clark in there was cool as well. That was like so yeah, I I I think they kind of like guided the story, kind of held the glue a little bit when it was sometimes kind of falling apart. Um but it's it's cool to see like yeah, like him being the family and then them coming together at the end.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So but those are my like general thoughts. Okay.
SPEAKER_02How about you? Yeah. I uh I didn't love this movie as well. Um I thought it was kind of meh, to be honest. Um I think for positives, um, like you said, I think the strong female lead is great. Um I think Millie Alcock did a great job. Um also loved Jason Momoa as Lobo. Um crypto is adorable, obviously. Yes. And like I said before, the some of the comedy um like between the bus driver and his buddy, or you know, Clark showing up every once in a while. I think that was cool. It's like a it's like I felt like every time Superman was on screen, that was that Leonardo DiCaprio meme where he's got like the beer and the cigarette and he's pointing at the TV like Yeah, I don't think I've seen this.
SPEAKER_01I can picture it though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta get on that one. Um but yeah, it's just it's like hey, we know that guy. Um uh negatives. I don't really feel like I was super attached to anybody in this movie, except Crypto, obviously. That guy was cute as hell.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um I mean, I think certainly I feel some sort of uh sympathy towards Ruthie's plight, you know, and the more they got into Supergirl's thing, like her origin, the more I was I became like understanding of why she was the way that she was, but it also I didn't feel like super emotionally invested, I guess if that makes sense. Um aside from that, there's a lot of action, but I feel like it it very rarely like popped off, if that makes sense. Like um, I did think that bar scene was cool because it was kind of like unfolded unconventionally where you're focused on Ruthie and all this shit's going on in the background. That was cool. Um, and some of the stuff at the end was pretty cool when it got more sort of Mad Maxi with all of the motorcycles and um that stuff. Um We gotta talk about it. Intergalactic sex trafficking. I told you this after the movie. Not fun. Um I get it. I know like you were talking about this movie, does uh kind of it kind of takes the uh uh sort of that feminist um lens. And I will say it was very satisfying to see her beat the shit out of all these people at the end. It was great. I just don't know if Supergirl is the movie for intergalactic sex trafficking. I don't know. It feels sort of like tonally at odds with her like attitude, I guess, and she kind of has this devil make care thing going on. Um it just felt like a little bit unnecessarily bleak, I guess. And I understand like movies bringing awareness to real subjects. Um I think that's great and important. Um, but I do feel sort of like it's to this movie's detriment. I don't know. I don't know if it's interesting. I don't know. Um then my last complaint about this movie, and then I'll get down off of my soapbox here. Um every single planet in this movie looks the exact same to me. Interesting. Okay, like the like what do you mean by that? There was very minimal color, like other than the suns being like being different colors. Everything was just sort of like random city in the middle of a wasteland kind of thing. Interesting. Um and it didn't really there was there was very little variety there. I thought yeah, I thought this movie overall could have looked a lot better, like visually. Um I don't know. Yeah, those are my those are my overall things. Um didn't hate it. Yeah, just wasn't like impressed.
SPEAKER_01You weren't yeah, you weren't in love with it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like I said, I said too when we were leaving, I think it didn't feel like any new territory was being trod. You know, it kind of reminded me of early like phase one Marvel stuff. Oh which in a sense, like you can make the argument like they're just getting their feet off the ground, you know. But um like specifically like Thor, I guess. Like it kind of reminded me of like the first Thor movie. Those are yeah, those are some bad movies. Great.
SPEAKER_01I didn't think it was that bad as the Thor the beginning of the Thor movies.
SPEAKER_02More than this.
SPEAKER_01Really? Yeah. See, I did not like one or two. Two is really two is an atrocity. I so I wanted to comment too. I I did not go through my negatives a little bit, like in hearing you because like can we kind of share a little bit? Um now I have to collect my thoughts. So I think that like it there was some slow parts. Like I remember like kind of that first half, it kind of felt like it was kind of having a hard time getting off the ground, getting this plot going, and it kind of felt like even throughout the movie though, too, it kind of would struggle. And then I know we talked about this. I think I think you had said you were like relieved to see Clark on the screen because you're like, oh okay, good. Right now we're gonna have some kind, like maybe like for me, it was like the continuity is coming in, right? And like, because you so I think you said in this new DCU, this is like number like is it like three or four in the installment of like overall stuff, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, including like Peacemaker and Creature Commandos, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so it's like like you said, it's pretty early. Right. So I like that Clark is there, so you're reminded of of him and of the greater story, I guess, if there is one. But you I mean you had mentioned that there's a new Superman movie coming out next year. Next year, supposedly July, yeah. Yeah, so like that's pretty cool. Um, but yeah, it kind of just felt like it it kind of like it kind of wasn't I I lost my focus a little bit a couple times because it just like that first part of the movie was like so focused on her like just partying and like like I I uh it was it was like alright, I get that after like five to ten minutes, yeah, but it kind of had a hard time like getting off the ground, it felt like yeah, it's like I feel like I've been critical of certain movies in the past that we've talked about, like Mario, for instance.
SPEAKER_02Like it felt like maybe they were trying to do too much. It almost feels like this movie wasn't doing enough plot-wise. Like it's literally kill Krem, save crypto. That's the plot. It is very yeah, it is quite simple. So I think it kind of gets like I hear you like it. There were definitely certain parts where I was kind of checking out mentally a little bit. Yeah. Um, but yeah, so anyways.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, I think that's kind of like my my main one. Like the other part with like I was kind of looking because I had known that this movie was somewhat based on that comic that I was mentioning before, which is one I want to read. It's supposed to be awesome. Um, but I think to like I was kind of hoping Clark wouldn't have been in this. I'm not gonna lie, I was very happy to see David Cortinsweather's name at the beginning. Right. Like that he was gonna be in it. I was like, oh sweet. But like I want to just see her be completely on her own, and like I want to know because I didn't know a lot about that character, anyways, coming in. Um and then I yeah, I guess like part of it too at the end where she like where she kills Krem, like she's had a lot of trauma, but she's still only 23. Right. So it's like I know like she's I feel like she's not um as grim as she thinks she is, or something like that. Yeah, you know, but also like she's a superhero, so that is totally different skill set than Ruthie. Um, but that was like I was kind of surprised they did that. I thought like like that was kind of cool that they did that because it was a twist.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I don't know, it was like I guess kind of a little odd.
SPEAKER_02Again, yeah, it's it's like it's it is satisfying that this guy's dead. Like it's right, it's uh a net positive for the world, the universe, but it does feel like it feels somewhat out of character, I guess, or um I don't know, just kind of like I said, like tonally separate from the rest of what's going on. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I was kind of surprised because Superman was so high quality. Um and then like from what I've been hearing about like Peacemaker and like also just stuff that James like anything James Gunn has done, I've really enjoyed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so I feel like this even though like I don't think James Gunn was really involved with this one that much.
SPEAKER_02I'm sure he executive produced it. Yeah, maybe like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, but like yeah, I thought this one like wasn't yeah, wasn't quite as cool to me. Yeah, but yeah. I hear you think that's it for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, same here.
SPEAKER_01Cool. Well, alright.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's super girl, huh?
SPEAKER_01We we got it.
SPEAKER_02That's it.
SPEAKER_01It is it is out right now.
SPEAKER_02It is out. Oh, I have this film, I have one more thing. This film is projected currently to lose the studio 85 to 125 million dollars.
SPEAKER_01Really? Wow, that's like a tank then.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, oh wow, it's really not doing well.
SPEAKER_01That's that kind of sucks, man.
SPEAKER_02We did our part. Yeah, we went and saw it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we gotta check it out. That's like a lot of money, but maybe not a lot to the studio. Like, what I wonder what the budget was.
SPEAKER_02I think it was something like 170, 170 million. Kind of that's pretty close to that. Most of half or more of the budget, I think. Wow. Oh wow, that's like not great.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, not great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What are you gonna do? I don't know, man. It's showbiz, baby. It's mostly out of your control. Exactly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I always wonder what goes into that. Like, do people just decide based on a trailer, I don't want to see this, or do they wait for like the first word to come out and then they decide, oh, this isn't good, I'm not gonna go see it.
SPEAKER_01So, what that's an interesting question. What what do you do in that situation? I'm gonna posit this to you. Well, I went and saw it.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's honestly I went in with pretty low expectations. You do? You did tell me that, yeah. And I went and saw it despite that. So I get I guess usually I vibe things out based on a trailer.
SPEAKER_01Okay, alright. Yeah, cool.
SPEAKER_02I can kind of tell. If you're if they're given too much away in a trailer, it feels like they don't believe in the thing that they're selling to me, you know. Um when a trailer's like more mysterious, I feel like I'm more likely to go see that movie. But I usually do try to avoid like reviews until I've watched the thing. Yes. Yeah, me too. So I guess for me it would be more of a trailer-based thing.
SPEAKER_01What uh what like if there's one coming out in the future, a movie coming out in the future. What makes you want to see it? And is it only trailer-based or is it like no, definitely not.
SPEAKER_02No, I feel like it's a combo of uh directors, cast, people who are in it, um, who wrote it, you know. Like a just creative side of things. Um I feel like I I kind of know who I like. Um, but if it's say, for example, like a new director, like like Curry Barker with the obsession, you know, that one was kind of a word of mouth thing. That actually happened the opposite, where I saw the trailer and I was like, I don't know. And then I began to hear about how good it was and then went and saw it. So maybe it happens both ways. Interesting, yes.
SPEAKER_01That's how it was for me with sheep detectives.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I like because like some of it is for me definitely a bandwagon thing.
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_01Like right, because I was I kept hearing good reviews.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, I was interested in that movie in in an ironic way. Like I did not expect that movie to be that good.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02And then as it got closer, we started hearing more about it, and then I think we were kind of locked in on going to see it.
SPEAKER_01Because yeah, I remember you said you guys, you and Maddie were gonna see it either way.
SPEAKER_02Right. They sounded like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Is that because of the animals with the animal factor?
SPEAKER_02Honestly, for me, it's huge jacked man. I'm there for huge. I love him. I love that guy. Huge, but even that movie had a really good cast. So you know. I don't know. I was just gonna go check out this thing that a bunch of people who I like put together and I'd be inter It's a movie, you know? I'm gonna have a good time. It doesn't matter if it's I mean, obviously I'd like to see a movie that I like, but right, if I go and it's kind of shitty, then I can have a fun experience that way, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02It's very rare that a movie is just right in the middle that's just like boring enough not to be funny or interesting. I don't feel like I know that I also am not going out of my way to watch things that I don't think I'll like, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, you have some standards. Sure.
SPEAKER_02I guess totes. Alright. Well, uh, anyways, we did not discuss prior what our movie for next month would be. Oh, I forgot about that. But I think oh I think it's pretty safe to say we've already got our tickets. Yes, we do. So we say it. You want to say it?
SPEAKER_01Okay, sure, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I'll drum roll. All right.
SPEAKER_01Next month, we are going to see The Odyssey.
unknownWhoa.
SPEAKER_02Holy cannoli. Holy cannoli. Holy moly. Holy cows.
SPEAKER_01Holy cows. We have our tickets already. Got our ticks. Which is awesome. Yep. And that's gonna be cool. We're seeing it in 70 millimeter, is that correct? Yeah. I have never seen a movie like that. Really? Yeah, I don't I don't think I have. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I've seen one that I can think of. I went to the Hateful Eight Road show. I remember you talking about that. Yeah. Wasn't that? When was that? Uh 2015, I think.
SPEAKER_00That sounds wow.
SPEAKER_02So it's possible I haven't seen a movie in 70 in over a decade.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02That's a while. That's a while. That's a long time. It's a good chunk of my life.
SPEAKER_01Jack and I were talking about it because I was like, is there really a difference in the quality? And he was like, totally. Yeah. What are your thoughts on that? Yeah. Question. There is. Yeah. Does it look like more like grainy or like does it look like does it look very different?
SPEAKER_02I think to be honest, I don't know. I just go and I think it's something with the screen too. Like I know with IMAX, like the screen is huge. They change the aspect ratios and stuff. Oh yeah. Um and I'm sure there's a sound aspect to it too. Um I just expect this thing to be fucking huge and look great. Nice. And sound great, hopefully.
SPEAKER_01So it will, it's not gonna be IMAX, but it's a bigger screen though? I think so. Okay. That's kind of what I was getting.
SPEAKER_02Because what is what is most like what are most reels? Are they 35?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Actually, yeah. Not 100% sure. I think it's just bigger. Yeah, I think that sounds right. So that'll be cool. Okay. It's like a huge screen.
SPEAKER_02Better be.
SPEAKER_01And everything's just really zoomed in. Yeah. I think it's one time me and my friend Ben, we saw uh knives out. We were in the very front row. Because it was like literally a full theater, and like we were just like oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it was so hard to see. I had one of those at a Harry Potter movie. I think it was the Deathly Hallows part one. I was we in IMAX, yeah, we went to see it, and I was probably in the first or second row, and it was like for like days my neck was like, oh dang you, Harry. Alright. Well, I think we're I think we're wrapping it up. I think we've wrapped it. I've said everything I need to say. Yeah. Uh probably ever.
SPEAKER_01Ever. Um well, we got another one next week coming out. So you Yeah, we do. I would say, you know, make sure they got a little bit left in the tank. I got nothing in the tank.
SPEAKER_02I'm running on fumes. Um next week is gonna be our TV episode.
SPEAKER_01Ooh, television.
SPEAKER_02Television. Wow. I'm told that's what it stands for.
SPEAKER_01Ooh. I'm excited.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, me too. Uh so come back around for that. We'll be talking about some TV that we've been watching. Consuming amongst eyeballs. Maybe some other things.
