First I get cheeky, dressed and ready to go for a car ride and then I try to cut a little bit of his hair before he leaves. It always makes it easier to cut when he knows he’s about to go for a car ride. He is much more patient when he knows something good is coming afterwards!🥰#Autism awareness

Alright, Jakey, we're getting you dressed for your ride. Jakey can sort of put his clothes on, but he needs help. So he has a hard time getting his hands in the sleeves. So we kind of do it like that. There we go. Okay. Get it down over that little bootabelli of yours. Yes, yes. You got a little popcorn on your mouth. Okay. So he does really good with his socks. You gotta put them in this direction. And then he gets them on the right way. Good job, Jakey. All right. Here's socky number two. He likes to grind his teeth a little bit, you'll hear that. Comes and goes. There's your right foot. And we use Velcro because Jake does not know how to tie shoes. So we've been using Velcro for decades. Yes. Alright, stand up. I'll fix your pansies. Make them nice and comfy. We've got fancies on today because it's still a little chilly out there. Now we're gonna go over and we're going to cut your hair, Jake. Come here. Come on. We've got to get you just a little trim, a couple minutes. Okay. You can look at your book. You can play your music if you want to. Okay, have a seat. Have a seat, little man. We're going to trim your hair and then you get to go for a ride. It's much easier to trim his hair when he knows he's gone for a ride. So his least favorite are around his ears. So I try to get those first. Yeah. Yeah. We don't always get it done in one day because he loses patience. So we kind of do it a little bit every day until we get it done. Can't take him to a hairstylist, he won't sit long enough. So I've been cutting his hair for most of his life. Luckily, he has pretty curly hair, so if I mess up, it's not as noticeable. So I'm lucky about that. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Let's try and get the other side right over here. Okay? It's going over your ears. And that's not comfortable, is it, Jakey? He doesn't like it when it's over his ears. He starts scratching his head. So we try to get those off right there. Doing good, doing good, Jakey. Doing good. It's not a perfect science, but Jakey doesn't care about his looks. He just cares about comfort. So I do my best. I do my best. He's got like Elvis Presley bangs. Thank you, Jakey. Don't make fun of me, because it's not going to be perfect. But I do the best that I can with the time allotment. Yeah, you're doing great, Jakey. Doing good. Doing really good. Yes, you're being very patient. Being very patient. Let's get that one. Yeah, let's look over here a little bit. Thin it out up top a little bit. You're doing very, very good. Very good, Jakey. I know, I know. We'll do just a little bit more for today, okay? And then you can go on your car ride. Yeah. Okay, that's it for today. Alright, Jakey. Good job, buddy. Yeah, you did good. Alright, that's a wrap.
