You’re tired… not because life is hard, but because you’ve been fighting battles God never told you to fight.

In this episode of Coffee Talk, Candace takes you to 2 Chronicles 20 and unpacks a powerful truth: just because you’re facing it doesn’t mean you’re supposed to fight it.

This is for the one who has been:
 • Overthinking every situation
 • Replaying conversations
 • Trying to fix people, outcomes, and problems
 • Carrying stress, anxiety, and emotional weight

God never asked you to fight it—He asked you to trust Him with it.

What if the breakthrough isn’t in doing more… but in surrendering more?

What if the battle requires your presence—but not your interference?

And what if your greatest weapon in this season isn’t control… but praise?

It’s time to stop striving.
 It’s time to stop defending.
It’s time to stop carrying what was never yours.

Lay it down. Lift Him up. And watch God fight for you.

If this episode speaks to you, share it with someone who’s been fighting a battle they were never meant to carry.

Hello and welcome back to Coffee Talk. Today I want to talk to you all about the battle you don't have to fight. So pull your coffee a little closer with this one because today we are talking about battles. Not the kind you post about, not the kind people clap for. I'm talking about the quiet battles. You know, the ones where you wake up at three o'clock in the morning and you're like, Lord, why am I up? The ones that sit heavy on your chests, the ones that cause you anxiety, the ones where you've been trying to figure out, God, what do you want me to do? Well, with that being said, let me take you to a story in 2 Chronicles chapter 20. King Jehoshaphat is minding his business. And all of a sudden he gets a word, and the word tells him there's a great multitude that's coming against him. So this man didn't have just one problem. He didn't have just one stressor. He didn't have even not just one enemy, a multitude. And if we're honest, that's how life kind of hits us sometimes, right? You know, it's like you have a problem that comes up, you know, it's like, oh, these bills are due, or you know, it's this relationship or that hurt. It's never just one thing. Most of the time, it's everything all at once. Now, here's what I love about Jehoshaphat. The Bible says he was afraid. Let me pause there. Because some of us think if we have faith, that doesn't mean we should feel or have fear. And no, ma'am, no, sir, that is not correct. He felt it, but he didn't fold to it. I'm gonna run that back. While he felt fear, he just didn't allow fear to consume him. Instead, he turned his face towards God. And he and he prayed, and but with this prayer, it wasn't polished, it wasn't pretty. He basically said, Lord, we don't know what to do, but our eyes are on you. Now let me bring that a little bit into focus. Let me bring that into your life for a second. Because some of us are exhausted trying to figure it out. We've been strategizing, overthinking, and replaying conversations, trying to fix people, fix situations, and fix the outcomes. And God is like, I didn't ask you to fix it, I asked you to face me. Now, here's where it gets good. The Lord sends a word through Jahazel and says, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the battle is not yours. But God's, let me say that again for the women and the men in the back that keep picking up fights that God never assigned to us. Don't be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the battle is not yours, but God's the battle is not yours, guys. But see, we say we trust God and then we grab the pen. We rewrite the story, we insert our own solutions. We start making Ishmaels out of situations God already promised Isaac for. Yeah, I went there. But Jehosaphat, he did something different. God told him, go out and face them, but you won't need to fight. Now wait, because that sounded confusing to me when I first read it. You mean he shows up but he ain't gotta swing? He can stand there, but he ain't gotta strive? Yes, because some battles require your presence, but not your interference. I'm going to repeat that. Some battles, while they require your presence, they do not require your interference. And here's the part that will mess you up in the best way. Jehoshaphat didn't send the army first, he sent the praisers. Now, I'm a visual person, so I could only imagine people are showing up for battle and the enemy is standing there and they begin to hear singing. You've got the enemy coming to take you out, and instead of loading weapons, you're standing there singing, praising God. Now, let's be real. Some of us would have been like, God, are you sure about this? Because this just doesn't make sense. But disobedience doesn't always make sense. It makes impact. And the Bible says, as they begin to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the enemy and they destroy each other. Now let's think about that. Some of the battles and things that we are facing, and we're facing them within ourselves. We are pretty much destroying us because of the stress of the situation, anxiety about the situations, and just our peace about the situation because we are trying to control it. God made their enemy destroy each other, and they didn't even have to lift a finger. Not one. So I'm gonna bring this all home for you guys. Some of you are wearing yourselves out, fighting people God never told you to fight, defending yourself in conversations God never told you to walk away from that God told you rather to walk away from, and trying to prove your worth to people who already decided not to see it. You're wasting your time. Some of us are carrying offenses like that bag lady we talked about, heavy, unnecessary, and slowing you down. And God is saying, if you would just put it down and lift me up, I'll handle what's trying to handle you. Guys, he wants to handle the things that are trying to handle us. We just have to give it to him. But let's be honest for a moment, because this is coffee talk, not fake talk. Praising in the middle of pressure, it is hard. And sometimes that is not, I will be honest. That's not my first go-to when the pressure is on. It's easy to praise when everything is going right. It's easy to worship when the outcome looks good. But when you're hurting and when you're confused and you're tired of being strong, literally, guys, praise is gonna become your best weapon. Not because it changes God, but because it positions you. See, praise shifts your posture. It takes you from I gotta fix this to God, I trust you with this. From I'm overwhelmed to I'm covered. From I need to respond to God, you respond for me. And let me say this with love, but with a little sass. Some of y'all are losing battles because you keep opening your mouth when God told you to open your heart. You're fighting in flesh what was meant to be handled in the spirit. This is your reminder. You don't have to attend every argument you're invited to. Candace, yeah, I'm talking to me. And you don't have to fix every situation, you don't have to prove yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you. Again, Candace, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is stand still and let God be God. So today, I want you to ask yourself, what battle have you picked up that God never told you to carry? Where have you been striving instead of surrendering? And what would it look like for you to send praise first instead of panic? Let me pray for you. Lord, we come to you tired. Some of us are overwhelmed, some of us are frustrated, and some of us are still trying to control outcomes that were never ours to begin with. Teach us to trust you, Jesus. Teach us how to stand without striving, to face things without fear taking over, to praise you even when it doesn't make sense. Remind us that the battle is not ours and that through it all, Father God, you are with us. We surrender what we've been trying to control. We lay down what we were never meant to carry. And today we choose praise in your name. We pray. Amen. All right, guys. Well, go ahead and put that battle down. Pick up your praise. And watch what God does with what you refused to fight. Okay? He got this. I promise you, he got this. I love you guys, and I'll see you next time on Coffee Talk. Be blessed.
