Our first question. Oh my god, right. Okay, we we've acknowledged we've acknowledged the AI. Please note, like literally, the little girl inside me can't take it, honestly. Um, okay, so um the question is would you get someone's name tattooed on you? And what do you think about getting names tattooed? Are they a good idea or not? You've got someone's name tattooed on you, haven't you?
SPEAKER_01No, so my view on it. You just show me your butt and it's just like literally stop gave on your butt. Oh no, Frank. Who's Frank? Your ghost. That's my ghost. Oh no, that's a bit spooky. Where are Frank? Are you? Um no, my this is only my view. I I don't think you should have anyone's name tattooed on you unless they're dead. Okay, and what is your reasoning for that? My reason for that is at that point you know whether they are worthy to have your love on your skin. Because you then know whether they've got the full picture. You've got the full picture. Hopefully. Hopefully, nothing comes out of the woodwork. Oh yeah, then afterwards. So look, listen, I think no, I I can't, I have no justification for it.
SPEAKER_02Do you agree with so there's the what's the word? Not supernatural, my brain can't go superstition. There's one, the superstition that if you have your other half's name tattooed on you, you've basically done a nail in the coffin for your relationship.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't look at it that way. Yeah, I well, I suppose partly I do, I guess. I mean I guess having your children's names tattooed on you, that would probably I yeah. I yeah, I've got my kids' names. I think if if you know someone was gonna say you're gonna die tomorrow, you need to have a name on I would have my son's name tattooed on me. Um, partners, I just I just don't know.
SPEAKER_02Just I think it depends on your outlook of life. Like, so I I mean I told you I'd I'd once had it's covered up now, but I once had it's Britney bitch tattooed on my leg. I'm just literally like, you know, part of life. All of my tattoos are just things throughout my life, and I've never had anyone's name tattooed on me. Never had anyone's name tattooed on me, but it's one of those I can also understand from somebody if they're just like it's tattoo, it's tattooed, you know, have different names, and even if that relationship passed and getting it covered up, I think it's whatever it means to you, yeah, whatever that meaning of a tattoo, a named tattoo means to you. If it's a you know, this is it, you you are going on my skin forever, this is something sacred, this is something important, this is something special, you would have to really think about it. And then is it a good idea? Yeah, if you're thinking that deep into it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, there's two sides, isn't there? Because there's spontaneity, which is great. Yeah, but also you can sometimes live to regret that.
SPEAKER_02Like my ex-husband, I don't think he's gonna mind me saying this because we are on really good terms. He's like really good dad to my kids, you know. We get on really, really well. He's got my face on his arm. I sorry, I thought you were gonna say awesome. No, he's got my face, but it's like a sugar skull. Oh, so I guess you can you can kind of, but I do think like, and again, his girlfriend is absolutely she's wonderful, like lovely, lovely, lovely girly. And I just think, like, oh, does she look at it and just think, oh my god, that's your ex-wife's face?
SPEAKER_01So I don't think I'd do that. Can we invite her on and ask her? Oh my god, shall we?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, she's literally no, she'd probably sit there and just be like, I've had enough of looking at your bloody mug. We slapped it every now and again.
SPEAKER_01So, I mean, would he try and change it? I don't think you know what the weird thing is, though, right?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, this no nothing. And like, this is the weird thing, okay. So we went on holiday, this was years and years and years ago, right?
SPEAKER_02Bearing in mind, it's my face, like a sugar skull. So it's like one of a kind and it's on a photo, right? The picture of that had obviously had gone up, you know, it goes on Pinterest, like Sugar Skull Girl, whatever. Yeah, there was a guy in the pool, okay? There was a guy in the pool pool, can't remember where he was from, and we looked on his arm, okay? He's got the same tattoo that my ex-husband had on his arm, the same flower in the hair that I had on my hair in the picture. Are you know when you're thinking is is there's that little tribe of men with my face tattooed on them? I would love that. If there's anyone listening and you're looking down at your arm and you think, oh, this was from Pinterest, but I do think it looks a little bit like V, please let us know.
SPEAKER_01Can you imagine that? You might have to go and number them. This is number one of 1000. Like Bonnie Blue, Magular Lion. Limited edition.
SPEAKER_02Right, so we are. I'm gonna see, so I'm gonna see what Reddit has to say, okay? So, what do you think Reddit has to say about should you tattoo someone's name?
SPEAKER_01What do I think Reddit's gonna say? I think it's gonna have 10 comments going, only if you've really thought about this. Yeah. And then one going no. There's one going no, someone really angry.
SPEAKER_02So it says, okay, oh look, there's an A. Oh God. But it just rounds up. It's just a round up of what everyone thinks, okay. So the general consensus is to avoid tattooing names. One, high risk of regret. Many redditors point out the significant risk of getting of regretting a name tattoo if the relationship ends.
SPEAKER_01So it's about in there. Are we looking at this at a real shallow surface level? Because we're saying names, and I think automatically we associate that with someone we know or a relationship. But hey, you could have your favourite band. I do, and all that kind. So, I mean, that's still a name, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02So in that respect, like oh now I'm thinking of every poor person you've had lost profits toed, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, sorry guys. Do you have a lost profits tattoo though, like that you want covered up or if you need covered up? Because that'd be a great uh talking point. Yeah, yeah, please let us know. Thanks. Look at me hustling every five seconds. Uh, there is also a potential for awkwardness. So if you break up, having your ex-partner's name or face tattooed can be incredibly awkward and a constant reminder of a past relationship. Oh, but I think that's a bit honesty though, innit? As well. If it's there, then but I think past. I think maybe we're so so focused on oh that that's not great. I want to forget about it, I want to forget about it. But you need to, I think every stage of the journey of life, oh god, we're getting deep now.
SPEAKER_01Every stage of the journey of life, it's it's important, the good stuff, the bad stuff. And I said there's gonna be good stuff, but I think as humans, and maybe humans from the UK, we do kind of like rein ourselves into the remembering of the bad stuff, yeah. And I think that that's maybe. Oh, look, oh, there's Dave. Remember all the bad things, Dave. Yeah, that's it. Rocks that late, promised me dinner. He didn't do this, didn't do that.
SPEAKER_02Dave, there you are such an idiot, Dave. Actually, no, I know a Dave, and he's bloody wonderful. Sorry, Dave. Oh, Dave. Oh, so we've got cost. Oh, this can go on to the other question. Cost and difficulty of removal. Tattoo removal is expensive and painful, and cover-ups can be challenging. So we can we can have a little, we're we're gonna have another conversation. I think it's in the next episode, isn't it, that we're gonna be talking about tattoo removal. So we we can do that. So, exceptions and alternatives. So there are exceptions, like you were saying, family names. Some redditors agree that tattooing the names of family members, especially children, is more acceptable because these relationships are generally permanent.
SPEAKER_01Yes, agree. Yeah, I don't I'm not quite sure whether acceptable is the right because you know it's unacceptable, is it?
SPEAKER_02As long as you don't say someone and the lost profits, yeah. That's not acceptable. Anyone has that, dude. We'll sort you out cover up somewhere. So symbolic tattoos, instead of names, consider getting a symbol. Oh, so this is they're saying instead of a name, get this symbolic tattoos, instead of names, consider getting a symbolic tattoo that represents your relationship or a shared experience. This allows for easier reinterpretation or cover-up if the relationship changes. No, no, because I think it means what it means to you, you can't change what meaning is to something. Oh, or the past again. Yeah. So even though it's symbolic, yes, no one else will know, but you'll always know, and it's your skin and your body.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. And I think that again, I don't know. Oh god, we are going a bit this isn't a relationship podcast, is it?
SPEAKER_02But if anyone needs any relationship advice for another one's I'm walking around in my pants with whiskey dunking Oreos in it, there there is no no help here.
SPEAKER_01Sounds perfect to me. But anyway, anyway, what was I gonna say? I've forgotten.
SPEAKER_02So um let me just clap because then you can that bit. Because then you'll know, Anthony, that the bit just before that you can edit it and then go into this. Look at me, I'm helping you, Anthony. Aren't you welcome?
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm just so forgetting. You were gonna say what was I gonna say?
SPEAKER_02You were gonna say hold on, what was the last thing I just said? Oh, so this allows for easier reinterpretation or cover up if you're gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, relationship, isn't it? So yeah, so hiding again, isn't it? Yeah. So this relationship advice. I think if you've got a symbol that means something deeply to you, as opposed to a name, whoever comes into your world next is like, well, actually, yeah, I know about that person and that name. But that symbol, what's stopping me saying making up something completely different because I don't want to tell you about that special moment. Yeah, that's true. So then does that then change a lie?
SPEAKER_02Because you don't want to know, you just don't want to lie, but you still want to. But that's the thing, if you've got like a name on you and someone's like, oh, who's that name? You know, okay, well, it's my ex-partner. But then again, I guess it depends who you are as a person, and like not kind of, you know, if I had someone's name, someone's like, Who is that? I'd be okay. Well, this is this, this is this is what is part of my life. I don't, you know, I've I've made some mistakes, and I think all of us have, but I think you just you own them and you learn from them, and you don't live in shame with them. Yeah, and if you can't have a laugh about some of it either, then you know I think it's why we're so funny. We're traumatized, don't we? Yeah, traumatised. Matching tattoos. Another alternative is to get matching tattoos that are not names but still signify your bond.
unknownHmm.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I have a story with this. Do you? Tell me your story. So I've got a matching tattoo with someone, and I really, really wish them the best. I hope they're doing really, really good and really lovely. It's like no shade or anything like that, but we did fall out about a week after getting a matching tattoo. I know. So I'm like, is that superstition? Is that not? But yeah, it's the only matching tattoo. Never again. I don't think I've got a matching tattoo with anyone else. Oh no, I think I I think I had the matching no, I do. I have another one. I've got a little um, I've got little um little flowers, not a lotus flower, no, it no blossom, cherry blossom, little cherry blossom there, and that was from oh my god, I think it was about, I think it was about nearly 20 years ago. And there was two of my friends, and we all got the matching cherry blow, and we're still friends and we still talk, so you know, but yeah, I I did get a matching tattoo with someone there, and then we fell out afterwards. I hope they're doing good though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I I know I've got a few friends, people that I know that have got matching tattoos, but that matching, not necessarily exactly the same, but the you know, the same vibe, yeah. So it means the same. So yeah, so they know that they know that that's them on that other pattern.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it's like that's for you, that's for me. Yeah, two of my best friends they have. So have you seen Twilight? Yes. Have you seen the tit soak tattoos? Yes, they have matching tit soak tattoos, and I'm like, this is why I love you guys. And I'm like, I kind of want a tit soak tattoo now. So there are spiritual and superstitious beliefs. So some believe that tattooing a partner's name can curse the relationship. I think it's probably just them being a piece of shit. They'd probably curse a relationship or not a tattoo. I don't think you can blame the tattoo, can you? Because then that's like saying, Do you know what? I'm gonna tattoo a million pounds on me and then superstition, I'm gonna have a million pounds. Should we try it? Yeah. Oh my god, I'd so do that.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, we're gonna do it. We're gonna do it that way. Oh my gosh, we'd get much in tattoo with a million pounds.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Umership and branding. A few registers can see it as a sign of ownership, all which can subconsciously lead to resentment.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, valid.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I get that way. I think I could see a controlling aspect of that, or kind of did you see? Oh, it's ages ago, but the woman who got her partner's name, she hardly had any tattoos, she had a partner's name tattooed across there. She hardly had any tattoos.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I could see that. But then I suppose going back to the matching tattoos, old Pamar Anson and Tommy Lee when they had their barbed wire wedding rings, didn't they? Yeah, I just think that's that covers all of them, doesn't it? I like that though. I think that's nice. I I would rather have that than than a ring.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, that's more stuff to look after, right? Like a ring, you lose it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02I lost my wedding ring like about two months after we got married. No idea where it went, completely disappeared. Maybe it was Frank. Who knows? Who knows? So the practical advice from Reddit is this wait before getting a tattoo. If you are determined to get a name tattoo, wait until the relationship is stable and long term. But what counts as long term?
SPEAKER_01And we all know who knows the future.
SPEAKER_02Because if we do and I say stable, I don't like I I want I want stability, but also like who's to say what stable is?
SPEAKER_01No, somewhere you put your horse, but hey.
SPEAKER_00But hey, but hey, and hey. I thought you did that on purpose.
SPEAKER_02So okay, consider initials. Initials are less noticeable and easy to cover up than full names.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, true. I mean, I'd love to have my initials, but then I'd be advertising a Dutch airline. What's your initials? KLM. Is that Dutch airline? Yeah, I mean, if I got royalties, then this is my brain, like if it's not in my line of. So when I was a child, I was like, oh, this is great because like KLM run consecutively in the alphabet. Yeah, that's nice. And then I was like, oh, there's an airplane that's got my initials on it, it's tail. So it's like it's my own personal airline. So can you have that tattooed on you? You can have an airplane tattooed on you.
SPEAKER_02Uh absolutely not. Because that's something I would do. See, this is where we differ, right? Because I would that's what I do. See, my my initials are VLP, but I always used to get called visible panty line. So, what is what we say in the consensus? So, my view is if you were gonna get a name tattooed, bloody well go for it. And if afterwards you want to get it covered up, get it covered up. But don't get your someone's name tattooed if you're unsure and it's not something you want to do. That is my opinion, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so my opinion is let's let's change it a little bit. No for me, it's a no for me. Yeah, I'm not gonna get a name, but then you know, never say never. Um and yeah, I would never advise someone to do something they didn't want to do and not advise them if they really want to do it, it's your own choice, and that's what makes us all.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna spend our whole time together trying to convince you to get my name towed on you. Because I can no, don't have a big I Do you know what to be fair? I've got my initial towed on my leg. I've got a V there. Yeah, but it's like Zaki Vengeance from Avenge Sevenfold Switchblade V. Yeah. No. I think it's one of those if you want to get it done, get it done. If you don't, don't, but don't be coerced into doing it. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_01As with everything. Yeah. Okay, so next.
