Hi Baby
Welcome to our “family-friendly(ish)” podcast - really just a love letter in audio form. It’s our sometimes-chaotic diary of this journey, capturing the cravings, worries, wins, and 2am thoughts through honest conversations, humor, and a little oversharing.
Part podcast, part time capsule - and just family-friendly…ish.
Hi Baby
NEW PARENTS PLAY WHO'S MOST LIKELY TOO - Hi Baby Ep 14
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This week we play a game of who's most likely too as we are sleep deprived, which always makes things funnier! We hope you enjoy!
Hi, baby.
SPEAKER_02Guys, we beat the odds. Did you know? I don't know the exact statistic, but something like 90% of podcasts don't make it past the 10th episode. And we're here. Episode 14. Episode 14. You and me, baby. We did that. We did. And Alyssa.
SPEAKER_03And Alyssa. A lot of it is also Alyssa. Thanks, Alyssa.
SPEAKER_02Alyssa's got a mic today, Alyssa, if you want to say it's happening. She's gonna be uh hopping in the conversation. We gotta get you a camera eventually. I know. Just the the voice in the sky. Alyssa.
SPEAKER_03God?
SPEAKER_02God, is that you?
SPEAKER_03Today we're playing.
SPEAKER_02Today we are playing Who's Most Likely to Parents Edition. We thought we'd do a fun little game this time. We're getting serious on the last couple podcasts. Wanted to lighten it up. Wanna lighten it up. We wanna have some fun today.
SPEAKER_03We're fun here, I promise.
SPEAKER_02We're fun. We don't cry every episode. We're two episodes in a row crying. Guys, we're not gonna cry this episode.
SPEAKER_03Or maybe we will.
SPEAKER_02Maybe we will, I guess.
SPEAKER_03We don't know what the questions are.
SPEAKER_02So Alyssa came up with some questions. Who's most likely to Parents Edition? And uh we're gonna decide between me and Natalie who is most likely to do these. Obviously, it's in the name, but okay, let's just start. You ready? Yeah, I'm ready. Be nice to me. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Can I actually ask a question that has nothing to do with this? Oh okay. Um, I'm just curious. Since I am here in your apartment, I've met your beautiful baby. Yeah. Who's all like who's met your baby? Because I'm on an exclusive list. I'm an exc on an exclusive list, and I know a lot of your friends.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna hurt some feelings. A lot of our friends, why is she flexing? She's like, hey, for all your friends who are watching the podcast, I've met the baby, you haven't.
SPEAKER_03Uh let's see. Okay, but after outside of immediate family or included? Outside. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um how about people who live in like LA?
SPEAKER_02To be fair, we just this week started um kind of like meeting up with people because obviously we nested the first couple few weeks, and this week we were starting to have people. So he met Ayla. Ayla? Met Ayla because Ayla had a gift for you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and we brought her, we brought me to know Keen would have came, but he wasn't feeling too good. And then who else? Your sister?
SPEAKER_02My sister, my brother-in-law, and I think that's it. My friends. Oh, and then a couple of your friends.
SPEAKER_03He's met my best friend Bree and Beijing and Sam.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So we're kind of on like what so yeah.
SPEAKER_02My goal this week, obviously, we have so much going on with having the baby that we haven't really got to like meet up with. I know.
SPEAKER_03I have texts though from all of our friends. Yeah, we want to start meeting up with them. Some on my side that have been like, when can I come?
SPEAKER_02Well, essentially now, if you're watching this, hit us up.
SPEAKER_03Friends, if you're watching this, it's free ball.
SPEAKER_02Putting this out there, hit us up because we haven't been able to hit anyone up because we've been so busy with the baby. But essentially, now anybody who wants to, who's uh obviously not sick, come see the baby.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, our baby's open to being held.
SPEAKER_02We're charging by the hour though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's a meet and greet.
SPEAKER_02That's so funny. Alyssa's like, hey, I know like your friends, your really close friends have met the baby, but I have actually after knowing, like technically not that many people have met him yet.
SPEAKER_00So I know and I think I've probably known you the shortest.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, out of everyone that's met him, definitely. Yeah, I think it's so funny to see him meet people too right now because yeah, it's awesome. He doesn't really understand it, he just is getting passed around.
SPEAKER_02That's the funny thing about babies, they're just like picked up and they're just like, what is happening?
SPEAKER_03They can't say no or anything. They're just like, all right, here I go.
SPEAKER_00I almost think he knows his name too. I said his own. I think he's starting to.
unknownWhat's that?
SPEAKER_02Listen, this might just be us being parents, and you know, every parent loves their kid, but I swear he's so smart. I think he he knows what's going on.
SPEAKER_03We are raising Einstein. We're raising Einstein LeBron.
SPEAKER_02He's gonna be the smartest person on the planet.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna be raised into our son.
SPEAKER_02He's all of them reincarnated, okay?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you gotta be like that.
SPEAKER_02You gotta believe.
SPEAKER_03My mom calls him Justin Bieber next generation.
SPEAKER_01That sounds like um, like a uh reality show. We're they're like trying to find the next Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber, next generation.
SPEAKER_03But but but that's how my mom says it. She won't leave out the next generation. She'll be like, hi, my little Justin Bieber, next generation. It's funny too, because I'm like, why are we why do we drop the next generation? Uh that also makes me feel old though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, damn.
SPEAKER_03Okay, wait, I actually have one more question. What what is your favorite nickname that someone has given um Mason?
SPEAKER_02I call him Stink. That's my favorite one.
SPEAKER_03That yours is Stink?
SPEAKER_02I just call him Stink. It started as um what well, what do we have?
SPEAKER_03We have Baby Boy, Stink.
SPEAKER_02I call him Stink Buck because he be pooping all the time. Yeah. And that just got shortened to Stink.
SPEAKER_03Who do I call him the most?
SPEAKER_02I call him my little um Your mom calls him my little munchkin.
SPEAKER_03My mom has the craziest listeners from so we have Justin Bieber next generation.
SPEAKER_01Justin Bieber next generation.
SPEAKER_03We also have my little munchkin. Then she was also doing my little cutie pie. Then she was also, I don't know. It's always evolving. My mom considers the new one ever.
SPEAKER_02What's your uh what's your go-to?
SPEAKER_03Sometimes I call him a little bean.
SPEAKER_02Little bean, he is a little bean.
SPEAKER_00Has little alien left the group chat then?
SPEAKER_03Little alien, yeah. Because he doesn't look like one anymore.
SPEAKER_02He only looked like an alien for a funny thing too is he when he was first born, other than when he looked like an alien, he looked just like me, I swear. Like an alien. Like my twin. My twin. I set myself up for that one. My twin, and then now he's starting to look more like you, I feel like. So I don't know. I mean it's only been like three weeks, so he's changed a lot in three weeks. It's crazy how much he's changed in three weeks, which is you know, wild to think. They really say, like, make sure you cherish these moments because it goes quick.
SPEAKER_03It does. It already is. He's almost gonna be watching.
SPEAKER_02I mean, one month not feel like it's been like four days, but also like five months at the same time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but that I think it's just because we're sleep deprived. We've reached the point of sleep deprived that we're just delirious.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what's happening anymore. I don't know what day it is, I don't know who I am.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well later on I'm gonna ask you some sleep-deprived questions. Okay, how really like sleep-deprived you are.
SPEAKER_02So we're gonna play the game now, huh? We're gonna play who's most likely to parents edition. All the good ones are me.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so this is mom versus dad. Who do you think is changing the most diapers?
SPEAKER_02Dad. That's me. That's me. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'm changing a lot of diapers. Um, I don't mind doing it. You know what's funny? I went from never changing a diaper in my life when we changed the first one at the hospital to that same day changing about 10. So I'm a professional now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Learn quick.
SPEAKER_03I will 100% give that to you because there'll be times because we've designated Crawford as diaper man where I'll be holding him and he'll just shit in my arms and I'll still wake up Crawford to be like, hey, he pooped.
SPEAKER_02Which which to be fair, I don't mind because sometimes I'll do that when he has to eat. Yeah. You know, so it's I feel like we got a good system. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Has there been an instance where you like have to just throw away the whole outfit?
SPEAKER_03Like a couple.
SPEAKER_02There hasn't been too many, but there's been a few.
SPEAKER_03This is crazy. He projectiles shit on me the other day. I don't even know. Like, I went to go change his diaper and I took it off, and he had already pooped in it, and then I like reached to get a wipe and just like just like straight onto the the wipes.
SPEAKER_02We can't, we've putting our son's business out there on the internet. He never did that. He did.
SPEAKER_03I'm so baby. You're perfect. He's never done that. And you but you also did do that tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02He's never done that.
SPEAKER_03You a hundred percent has he's also done it to you. He did it to Crawford as well.
SPEAKER_02He also does that thing where he just peas everywhere. Yeah, like you take the diaper off the floor.
SPEAKER_03He's a fountain, he's just yeah, but Crawford definitely changing diapers. A lot of diapers.
SPEAKER_00No, this might be hard to tell, but who's the stricter parent already?
SPEAKER_03Crawford.
SPEAKER_02I'm definitely the stricter parent. I'd be like, I get worried. I don't know. I'm like, want to make sure the baby's good.
SPEAKER_03On every on all accounts. On all accounts.
SPEAKER_02I'm very strict.
SPEAKER_03Food, Crawford.
SPEAKER_02It's good, but he's got the best food, sleeping.
SPEAKER_03Sleeping, Crawford.
SPEAKER_02Bottles, the best clothes. I'm the almond dad. Yeah. Everything's like non organic cotton and you know, glass bottles.
SPEAKER_03Even when he's like, Are you are you taking your vitamins? Because I'm breastfeeding. So gotta make sure.
SPEAKER_02What if you're healthy, the baby? Well, first and foremost, I want you to be healthy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, of course.
SPEAKER_02Because obviously you're you went through a lot, but second, I want the baby to be healthy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so crawford.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm strict.
SPEAKER_00Who handles the crying better?
SPEAKER_02I think that no, I think you do. Or like handles it like gets him to calm down, or like or like what do you mean by like or like handles it like they don't get stressed about it?
SPEAKER_00I originally meant like who doesn't get stressed about it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'd say me for that. Yeah, crying. She's even better at calming him down. Like I've gotten better, but sometimes he just wants like the boob, which I don't have. So, but as far as like I think I'm pretty good at being like calm in a story. Yeah, not that you're like really bad with it either. You're pretty chill too.
SPEAKER_03I'm saying um I wouldn't say I'm like, you have your moments. I'm pretty bad. I get it stressed me out because I'm like, oh, okay, you're you're you need something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you get you're worried. You love your words.
SPEAKER_03But it's just like I I get stressed too when he cries, especially in the middle of the night. I'm like, because then I'm tired too.
SPEAKER_02So I only get stressed when he's like making weird noise when he's gonna be.
SPEAKER_03And I wake up Crawford.
SPEAKER_02Because it's like if he's just sad, I know we can do something to help him, but like I just want to make sure he's always like good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, sometimes I get so stressed that like even if I've just fed him, if he's crying, I just like we'll whip out like my boob again and just not this is a family podcast. No, but it's real. Like sometimes it's like the only way to get them to be quiet.
SPEAKER_02I have never seen more boob in my life in the last three months. And not for the reason.
SPEAKER_03It's actually for the reason you would you would normally uh I it's I feel like I walk around the house now shirtless because most of the times I've just either pumped or I've just never seen more boobs. And it's just I it's such a weird feeling. It's so weird. But yeah, sometimes you just gotta pop a little tit to get them to stop crying.
SPEAKER_02Hey, see, men and babies, very simple.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. Okay, who is easier to deal with at 3 a.m.? Your baby or partner?
SPEAKER_03Um probably you're still easier to deal with than the baby.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think we've I I'll give you credit, and I think we've been there's been a couple moments where we've like maybe snapped a little bit on each other, but they're very few. Like I think we've been very good at understanding, hey, we are both going through this. Like it's not me versus you.
SPEAKER_03Like, we're good at like this when I'm snapping at you. I don't even mean to snap at you. I just need to give attitude to someone because I'm giving I can't feel like I can be mad at him. So someone's gotta get it. Yeah, yeah, but uh right now Carford's the most bearable at the 3 a.m. um crash out.
SPEAKER_00Okay, who has gotten thrown up on more?
SPEAKER_03Definitely me. Yeah, because I'll be feeding, and like two seconds after he's off of my boob, he's just like which I don't understand. I'm like, why didn't you stop eating?
SPEAKER_02Probably hungry.
SPEAKER_03I think he's an overeater sometimes. Yeah, can't gets too milk drunk.
SPEAKER_02It's funny, the milk drunk thing is real. Babies really they they look like they just had like eight beers milk.
SPEAKER_03They just and then like it's like coming out like on the side of their mouth, their eyes like half closed, and they're like, what's going on?
SPEAKER_02They look drunk. It's so funny.
SPEAKER_00Is there a place that like he's like a the grossest place he's thrown up on? Like you or my bed.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, like for me, yeah, probably the bed. For me, like I didn't think I'd be like this, but I don't actually like find him disgusting, mine. Like, I like not that I want him to throw up on me, but like I just think I understand, like, I don't know, like since it's coming from a baby, maybe because if someone threw up on me, I'd probably throw up. Like, who is like an adult or like someone I know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like I've also just been like desensitized to that because I used to babysit and you see a lot of shit figuratively and real, like it's real. I mean literally seeing some and the thing is is he's not eating food, so the throw up is literally just like milk spit up. Yeah, true.
SPEAKER_02He's not throwing off like anything gross.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we haven't had like I think we'll get to that when he starts to have like more solids, and then he starts to like.
SPEAKER_02I feel the same way about like the poop. I don't start if it's the CMI, but it's not I've heard it gets really gross when they start eating real food, but like, so it's not like it's not that bad.
SPEAKER_03You know what? My mom calls it, which is so disgusting. My mom calls this poop mustard right now. It looks like mustard because the like baby poops are bright yellow, Alyssa, and they have like a little bit of texture. It's like milk, they don't drink any, like they don't eat any solids, so it's bright yellow, like literally, it looks like mustard, like like Dijon mustard.
SPEAKER_00I think if I've seen that for the first time, I'd be like, something's wrong.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, yeah. Luckily at the hospital, they let you know, like, hey, this is what you should look out for. At the beginning, it's black, like tar, because they're clearing out the um all the stuff from the mom's womb. Wow, and then from black days, it's like black bright yellow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. I've never known that.
SPEAKER_02But they warn you so you don't freak out. Okay. At the hospital, like, hey, just you know, this is what you should look out for. Okay.
SPEAKER_03But I'll hear my mom change his diaper and she'll be like, oh, a lot of mustard today, baby.
unknownAnd I'm like, ew.
SPEAKER_03Um, so moral of the story, I have not had mustard on anything. Yeah, your mustard's done.
SPEAKER_01No more mustard.
SPEAKER_03No more mustard. Oh man.
SPEAKER_00Were you more grossed out by things before the baby then?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think for me, I'm I yeah, from my personal experience, I feel like I'm surprisingly not as grossed out, or really at all. I thought I'd be really gross out, except for when he like projectile. That was crazy.
SPEAKER_03I we were in bed, it was like 2 a.m. when he wrote to me too and I was like, Crawford, and he thought something happened, and I was like, he was like, What's wrong? And I was like, he just fucking projected.
SPEAKER_02That was crazy.
SPEAKER_01That was on me.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Okay, so I only asked that because my brother threw up in my dad's mouth one time.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow. That was I think that would be the line.
SPEAKER_03He's the I like the most he's thrown up on me is like neck down. Okay. Because he's on my boob, so it's like, oh, he's just like dripping down.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we burp him a lot too, and like he'll throw up on like your chest or like something.
SPEAKER_03We have a lot of milk stains on our bed too.
SPEAKER_02That's annoying.
SPEAKER_00Who's more likely to Google something crazy at 3 a.m.?
SPEAKER_02100% me. Crazy? Like crazy as in like what do you mean by crazy?
SPEAKER_03Because he'll just Google anything. But I might be Googling some crazy thing.
SPEAKER_00I guess who's more likely to Google anything at 3 a.m.? But like, okay, but Crawford will Google any and everything.
SPEAKER_03Mine Google searches get really specific.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I just want to make sure like if any little thing seems off, I like look it up. Yeah, his is like more like the baby's okay, you know?
SPEAKER_03But yours are like, is it normal if my baby does this at 3 a.m.? And mine will be like Yeah, I want to know. Mine will be like, oh, um. I don't even know if I should say this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'll just say it we can cut it out. Worst case.
SPEAKER_03There's a couple. They're like when it's when it's um for him, because sometimes they're sometimes about me.
SPEAKER_02I'll be like, um, is it normal Why is my boyfriend sleeping while I'm trying to feed the baby?
SPEAKER_03No, it'll be like one nipple bigger than other nipple after breastfeeding. Is that normal? Like mine are a lot more like tailored. No, but sometimes about me. But then I'll be like, is it normal for my baby to like um drink only out of one boo? Because like sometimes he doesn't latch on the other one, and I'm like, why am she latching? Um so I think I like look up like weirder ones, but that's just because he does a lot more to my body, I feel like.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So let's say both of us for that. Yeah, both of us. We both just don't know what's going on. Hey. Kind of figured out.
SPEAKER_00None of us, I feel like, ever do.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. That's what I'm saying. I don't know what's happening.
SPEAKER_00Who panics faster? Me.
SPEAKER_03It's usually like a Crawford.
SPEAKER_02Like I I look things up, but I stay calm until like there's a reason to be like worried. Yeah. Whereas you like you you get a little worried.
SPEAKER_03Well, I will say this with the breathing thing though, you wake up a lot more than me.
SPEAKER_02Well, he sounds, guys. I need to record this. We we found out it's normal, but he sounds crazy when he's sleeping. Like I'm like, can he breathe? Like, I actually was worried he couldn't breathe. Yeah. Um, which would be a big obviously issue, but uh apparently it was pretty normal.
SPEAKER_03So But the slightest like congestion that he has, Carford will be like this in bed. Is he okay? Is he okay?
SPEAKER_01Is he okay?
SPEAKER_03And then he'll go to his phone and like start looking stuff up. He'll be like, is he?
SPEAKER_02I couldn't sleep for four hours last night because I was like, he was breathing so crazy, and I kept looking it up and it was like, Oh, it's fine.
SPEAKER_03I will panic in a sense of like um he's crying and I don't know what he wants because he's already been fed, yeah, burped and changed. So what what more could you want as as a baby? They literally cry. I was telling Carver this, it was like he makes me feel like I starve him. I feed him every hour.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he cries. No, every time he cries, it's like I haven't fed him in a year. I always joke, I'm like, okay, buddy, yeah, we're so bad for not feeding you for 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry that you starved for 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_02He's like, he's like over here, like he's never eaten a day in his life. That's the type of cry he does sometimes. I'm like, bro, you just ate 30 minutes ago.
SPEAKER_03It's like milk now, please.
SPEAKER_02But to be fair, the the reason I like don't mind is because I understand that's their only way to communicate. Anytime I get a little bit like, oh man, like why is he doing this?
SPEAKER_03I'm like, oh well, that's his only way to tell us that I can't wait till he's at that age where I can start using that book with the hand signs so that way he can at least start giving me signs of like what he wants. I'm gonna be all up in that book once it's he reaches the age that he can.
SPEAKER_00When I walked in, he was sleeping like he just had a good full meal, like arms.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, arms off everything. Yeah, my little rotisserie chicken.
SPEAKER_02He always uh sleeps in the cutest positions.
SPEAKER_00Who has taken the most baby pictures?
SPEAKER_03I actually was I'm gonna say Carper.
SPEAKER_02I would say it's probably 50-50. We both take a lot. We I mean like you take a lot. But I I what I love about my job, just even just this and the videos and the photos, I do it like I just love documenting my life and having that. And then obviously someone that makes it online, but I just enjoy taking videos and photos.
SPEAKER_03Can we you know who takes the most?
SPEAKER_02Kirsten.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she probably's probably taking more photos.
SPEAKER_02My older sister is probably taking more photos in the four times, four or five times she's been over here. Thank god though.
SPEAKER_03Hey, at least it's on her storage, not ours, and we'll have them. No, it's good, it's good.
SPEAKER_02But she my sister is like notorious for documenting everything, which is awesome. It's good.
SPEAKER_03She likes every time we go out, she has this cute thing where she's like she has to take at least one selfie.
SPEAKER_02She has a selfie of every hangout we've ever had. Every hangout. Which is cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um which you always appreciate. No, yeah, exactly. She'll have a huge compilation later.
SPEAKER_02But I've also been recently getting into photography and I have a bunch of cameras, so I I like to say something. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03We made Mason on Instagram the other day.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we did, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But it's not like um we're we're not posting anything. Don't think that it's we made it to save the username. We made it to save the username. Yeah, because we were like well, because I feel like people just take people's names now.
SPEAKER_02Then I said I was like, will Instagram still be a thing by the time we like trust him to have such media? Like in 12 years, I mean maybe it will, but in 12 years, like I mean it's what's still the test of time already.
SPEAKER_03True.
SPEAKER_02I mean, Facebook's been 20 years or whatever.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but no one really uses Facebook if you're unless you're like 65. Sorry. Like my parents are on Facebook.
SPEAKER_02I use Facebook. Hey, I have a brand new meta chip.
SPEAKER_03Meta's also on Instagram now because they know.
SPEAKER_02Meta owns Instagram.
SPEAKER_00That's actually a good question. What age, okay. What age do you think you'll give a child a phone? Like, what age social media? Like, what do you think?
SPEAKER_03I'm bad at this. Is this my toxic trait is like honestly? Probably young.
SPEAKER_00Because like a phone could be like just calling to make sure, like, yeah, like you can.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay, Carfers can be like, I'm gonna get a phone that only has my number and it's like. Oh, it's gonna be the little four button.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna call 911 me. They have those. Mason, I'm so sorry. That's it. You're gonna have to talk to your dad. Listen, when I was that age, I'm like, I'm that guy now, like back in my day. Uh when I was that age, I had a flip phone. I was fucking.
SPEAKER_03I'm not as strict. I think that like obviously you have to be cautious with what they're watching and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't mind them having like an iPad. Sorry to cut you off, but uh I wouldn't mind them having an iPad or like a like an iPhone if I have like that program where I can see everything they look at.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you can also there's just so many parental looks on things like that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, my worry, yeah, and they're they're they're way better with that, true. Yeah, because my worry is not them having a phone, it's like at that age, there's so much you can access on a phone. As long as I had like some level of control over that, I think I wouldn't mind.
SPEAKER_03I but social media. Parents that uh the kids I babysit had parental controls on the actual Wi-Fi.
SPEAKER_02So like to make sure and every house. I feel like I was getting like in trouble because at like 11 p.m. At 11 pm I would cut out.
SPEAKER_03Wi-Fi cuts out, so nothing's usable, like no one can use their phone, no one can use their laptop, the Xbox doesn't work, anything that connects. Yep.
SPEAKER_00Idea that was a thing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just like it's like being on a flight with no Wi-Fi. You're just like, what the heck do I do? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I wonder what will be what it will be like in like 10, 15 years then.
SPEAKER_02Maybe they're not even using phones.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I don't know. When did you start? When was the how old were you when you started using a phone? Not like your first flip phone that you had to call or text your parents, but like your first iPhone essentially.
SPEAKER_02My first iPhone? Like 14, 13, 14.
SPEAKER_03I think I was in fifth grade. How old does that put me?
SPEAKER_02Like 11.
SPEAKER_03That's how young I was. I my in this is not great, but my when I was on social media right away? Yes. And what's crazy is back then you really had to be 13. But you would get away with just like, I mean you probably still can today. I think I'm actually 27 on my Instagram instead of damn, you're old. 25 because I had to push it up to be 13 because I wasn't 13.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, my parents didn't let me. I mean, it wasn't that late. My parents let me get Facebook when I was 12. So before that, I wasn't allowed any MySpace. I was never on MySpace because I wasn't allowed it. You were on MySpace?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was really young. I was like you were on MySpace. Can you let me talk and I'll tell you how? Yeah. Um, my mom had a MySpace, and um we shared it. My mom would let me go on. Hers, but I was allowed to like decorate it and like change the songs and like be on it, but like it was like a sh it was like a joint account, okay, okay. But it was under her name. Yeah, I never used it. But I was allowed to use it, so like I learned how to use the interface of my space, which is actually really cool because it's like a lot of coding.
SPEAKER_02You know what my social media was, and this is gonna make me sound really nerdy. Um, when I was young, I played RuneScape. I love RuneScape, and bro, you can like just talk to any if anything, that's probably more dangerous than having social media because those are where all the predators are. Maybe not as much on RuneScape as other games, but they definitely was on all those games. Um, the biggest one is like Roblox, it's crazy, but um yeah, I basically like on there, like I learned so many things about like people that have like girlfriends and boyfriends on there, and like you can like trade with people, and like people would scam people, like it was a whole thing. It was crazy.
SPEAKER_03They're teaching you real life.
SPEAKER_02No, you learn about a lot of you learn a lot about real life. It's like there's a whole economy in the game. And I I often say, like, I learned a lot about like life and economies and everything from that game at a very young age.
SPEAKER_03Wow, shout out RuneScape.
SPEAKER_02They have like a whole like um essentially like a stock market and exchange. I don't remember it being that in that super people still play to this day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's like a there's like a big hype, or what would you call it? Like fan base.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and they still play the old version. They the they play old school RuneScape, and it's still got a huge because I honestly would argue it's one of the most complete well-made games ever. Yeah, but pretty crazy.
SPEAKER_00Did you guys have AIM?
SPEAKER_02Oh, so I had I was like right at the end of that. Oh like there was like Hotmail had their own chat. AOL.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_02No, Hotmail had one.
SPEAKER_03Hotmail. Hotmail's like Hotmail's um You're you're really showing your age right now, MSM Messenger?
SPEAKER_02Is that a Canadian thing?
SPEAKER_00It might be.
SPEAKER_02I thought they could maybe be in the case. In Canada, if you guys are watching this, MSM Messenger was like AOL, but it was like another competitor to that, and it was more popular in Canada. Okay, that's what we message on. I just think and then Skype. Oh, I'd be in I'd be in class, like getting those Skype.
SPEAKER_03I need to stop you because I need to go back to this hotmail thing and I need to make a PSA. What? If you because people send me, I work in PR and I get a bunch of emails, and every now and then I'll get an email that is still sent from an at Hotmail. You still have it? If you still have a hotmail, delete your account and make a new one. I'm begging you. No one takes you seriously when you're sending me an email, especially a work email, and then I read from david at hotmail.com and I'm like, hotmail? It like takes me out of the being professional for like 30 seconds and have to think about how the fact that I was like, I didn't even realize you could still send emails out of hotmail. But yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_02That was just like I thought they shut down. I didn't even know they still had yeah, they did. Well, I didn't have an AOL, but they did have did you you didn't have MSN?
SPEAKER_03Um, no.
SPEAKER_02Did you ever um get people on Skype?
SPEAKER_03Yes, I had well, okay. So Skype wasn't cool at or around my area. What was cool was Uvu.
SPEAKER_02Uh, because what ISIS for UVU?
SPEAKER_03Because UVU was before Skype allowed like multiple people in one call. Uhhuh did it first, I believe, and then Skype did it really fast after. And Uvu became more like user-friendly for like people my age. So instead of just like FaceTiming or Uvooing one person, you would get on an UVO and all your friends would be there. Like you could UV up to 20 people. Oh, damn.
SPEAKER_02Like group FaceTimes.
SPEAKER_03Like group FaceTimes, but it would get so hectic.
SPEAKER_02Like you could have a whole class on yeah, because we would we would kind of do the same thing, but on Skype, you could message, you could call people. Yeah, it's pretty crazy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Damn, we're old.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but speaking of like things like that in the past that are probably not great for kids. Um, I was on Omegle a lot.
SPEAKER_01Omega, which is really bad.
SPEAKER_03You gotta be like, I was like, I was like, with and you know who always comes to start with? It's always my cousins that put me on. Because I was the youngest out of my cousins, and my cousins are like, Have you ever been on Omegle? And they were like always five to ten years older than me, and they were cool. And I was like, No, what's that? And so I would be like eight, and they'd be like in their teenage years and be like, let's go to Omagel. And if you've ever been on Omagel, you know what you can do.
SPEAKER_02I don't think anyone should have been on Omega of any age.
SPEAKER_03The worst place to be the worst place to be. But you would like, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So basically, our kid is not allowed the internet. Our son is not allowed to go on the internet.
SPEAKER_03So, okay, the Instagram then, can you share what's the oh I got my Instagram probably when I was like 11 or 12 and lied about my age. I'm so sorry if you work at Instagram and you're watching this.
SPEAKER_02Banner.
SPEAKER_03Um, please don't ban me. I'm of age now. And I don't condone that. Um, but I think I was pretty lucky because I know that you that it can obviously be a very very scary predatory place, but you know how like you can go back and see what you like liked. I went back with Crawford pretty recently. We both looked at like posts. Oh my god. My first like post is like uh a picture of Louis Dolmanson from One Direction.
SPEAKER_02And she swears she wasn't a direction.
SPEAKER_03And I swear I wasn't a directioner. Like I didn't hate them, but I uh didn't listen to them like that. But the first 20 posts I ever liked were all one direction.
SPEAKER_02I think Were you a directioner or were you a are you believing?
SPEAKER_00I well I was both. Okay, I was never like a hardcore like fan of either, but I love both. Okay, like top top two.
SPEAKER_03Mine literally just look I I was just reading like all one direction, all Justin Bieber, a lot of a lot of Kylie Jenner. Because Kylie Jenner was like 16 at the time, or like around that age. So and this was like Kylie Jenner before King Kylie Aries. This is like young, young Kylie Jenner. Um a lot of Chris Jenner too, which is wild. She was on Instagram that early. She was on, yeah. Um a lot of Brandy Melville. I don't know if you ever like they They were on socials that early? They were on socials that early, and it was actually one of my favorite accounts to follow in around 2012 to 2016 time. Like a lot of uh the photos that I would then post on my Instagram were like recreations of the ones of the girls from Brandy Melville's accounts. Yeah, and mine were always terrible recreations. But yeah, that's kind of what my Instagram looked like.
SPEAKER_02A big reason why we're here today is because I had Instagram from a young age, so we wouldn't be here sitting here, most likely.
SPEAKER_03What were your first like posts when we went back? I kind of forgot.
SPEAKER_02It's a bunch of like random cars and like oh yeah, you had a lot of cars.
SPEAKER_03See how see how I've I don't know, I just feel like even though I was you were allowed to be exposed to a lot, I still wasn't, in a sense. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_02Like I was maybe on Omegle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, maybe on Omegle, but I feel like there wasn't anything that I was like searching or feeling like I needed to find that one direction couldn't feed me, apparently.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm sure also that plays a role in like your environment, your upbringing too. A hundred percent. I'm sure you know you'll watch what Mason does online, but like you guys. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I also feel like I didn't get into like too many crazy things on the internet myself. Like most crazy things I saw on the internet was from like a friend would show me something.
SPEAKER_03It's always a friend or something.
SPEAKER_02Like you said, who like shows you something, you're like, I shouldn't have seen that.
SPEAKER_03Literally, the one thing that scars me was when my friend showed me two girls, one cup, and I literally like scarred at a young age too.
SPEAKER_02I'm so sorry. And second off, the amount of people that tried to show me that, and I can say I never watched it. Thank God. You don't want to. Everybody I know who I've I've had it described to me, so I know that I am happy I didn't see it. But it's crazy how many people saw like that. But that was like a huge thing.
SPEAKER_03You know what they say? Like, someone told me they were like, it takes um one second to see something and 15 years to forget it.
SPEAKER_02Have you forgotten it? You still haven't forgotten it?
SPEAKER_03I'll forget it, and then someone will bring up the name, and it's like I've I just watched it again.
SPEAKER_02I'm so happy. If you guys have seen it, I'm so sorry. I'm so happy to say I have not seen it. Thank God. I had some people try to like show it to me. I'd like close my eyes and I'm not watching that.
SPEAKER_03It's so absolutely I wish someone would come out today and say that it was AI. Like that's how bad it is. It's like I wish that someone would just say, like, hey, we got you.
SPEAKER_02What's crazy is how many you do you know what that is? Yeah, I watched it the first time. This is like why does everybody just watched it?
SPEAKER_03She's like, yo, crazy, right?
SPEAKER_02Like, it was awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's that I I I knew the idea of like it, but I've never seen it because I'm like, okay, I it's gross.
SPEAKER_03It's terrifyingly gross. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I would put it up there with like being as like a horror movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so basically our son's not allowed on the internet.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, hopefully, Mason likes the name that you picked out for him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, it's just his name. So I'm hoping he likes it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, people can follow it, but we're not really gonna be posting on it, I don't think, anytime soon. We just kind of want to see.
SPEAKER_03There's probably no post will be posted on it until it's his if Instagram is still even around. Or maybe Instagram will sell or meta will sell, and whoever has it next.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't think I would like. I I know a lot of people do that thing where they make their kid an account and they post on it.
SPEAKER_03I don't think I would no my kid, I don't listen. We are online, and if you're gonna see pictures of my son, it'll probably be on my account.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, on my account, yeah. Like they don't need an account.
SPEAKER_03Like it's like me posting for him, and it's like a caption where it's like, I love my mom.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's like and it's an account run by parents, and you're like, dude, we don't need to be doing all that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's like those dog accounts on Instagram.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh, okay. Well, this brings me, sorry, I know we're sidetracking, Alyssa. We'll get back to the game. What are your thoughts on like influencers and like posting kids? I know that this is like a big debate online, and ultimately, I think the right answer is like do what you want with your own kid.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Because um, I think you gotta be cautious how much you share for sure. I think like naturally you want to share parts of your life with people, and uh your child is obviously a huge part of your life. So I don't think you know, I watch a lot of creators who who share, you know, a lot of our friends, a lot who we know, share a lot of that online, and I think it's really cool to be able to see a piece of that. I think my line is when people, and listen, I'm not God, I'm not here to judge what people do, you know, what type of content they make. But I think it like when it's every moment and every milestone and everything they do posted online, I think it becomes like a little bit like okay, something should be kept for kept private and kept for the family. Um so yeah, I think I have like I'm not one of those like never obviously we've we've posted photos of of our baby boy. I'm not like never post them online, nothing, whatever. But I do think there's a line of like okay, sometimes it can be like a lot, you know. But if you're doing daily logs every day for eight years and your kids from like one to eight every day online, in my opinion, that's that's a little much, you know.
SPEAKER_03So I I feel the same way. Like if my especially like if uh once Mason got a little older and he like expressed like or made faces that like makes me feel like before this is what like if he couldn't talk yet, so like let's say he's like two or three, and like we were trying to film with him and he just is like fussy and he's like kind of like not into it, I would be like, Okay, like let's just take him out of it because he's not into it.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's the number one thing I would say is is parents that force their kids to that's a whole nother that's where it's bad because like if your kid's having fun and and you're just posting like but when you're like putting your kid to work and like do this, get this shot, okay. That I think that's already possible. Yeah, like it's one thing if you're documenting something that's naturally happening, it's another thing when you're physically like making your kid like like almost be an actor in your show, where they're like, Okay, we gotta reshoot that, do this again. Like, yeah, you know, or like where it's really unnatural and unorganic and and they're not enjoying it, you know. Like if if uh like you said, if Mason ever like was like, hey, I don't want to do this, be online, I'd be like, okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_03100%.
SPEAKER_02Or never like even second guess it. So yeah. But again, yeah, I think that's a a conversation that I maybe I don't even know fully, you know, uh we're just new to this, so my opinion might change on that.
SPEAKER_03But that's just kind of currently how I feel, and I know it's a big conversation online, but well, I guess we can sorry, we can hop back into these questions.
SPEAKER_00Well, do you want to jump over to a new game and jump over to the fourth wall for a segment?
SPEAKER_02All right, guys, we're gonna hop over to the high baby club and play another really fun game.
