I once believed in God, but I didn't truly know Him. Like many, I was caught up in the busyness of life, distracted, searching, and unaware of the spiritual depths waiting to be discovered. But then one day, everything changed. What I encountered opened my eyes to a spiritual realm I had never imagined, a realm that transformed my life forever. The Hunger That Would Not Leave

episode is called "Awakening: When God Opens Your Eyes". Have you ever felt like you believe in God but don't truly know him? Maybe you pray sometimes, thank Him for the good things, yet there's still a deep emptiness inside. An awakening is that powerful moment when you realize the soul's deepest longing is for God, Himself. Today, I want to share my personal journey of how God opened my eyes and transformed my life. A year ago, my life took a profound turn. I found myself locked in a battle with the unseen spiritual world, something I never imagined was real until I was caught in its grip. This struggle shattered my old understanding, but it opened the door to a personal, intimate relationship with God. I grew up in a Seventh-Day Adventist church. As a child, I believed in God, but drifted away as I got older. Life's pressure and influences pulled me away from my faith. Though I prayed and thanked God for blessings in my life, I felt an emptiness I couldn't explain. But it wasn't until late 2024 when that emptiness became a hunger. A deep longing for something more. It seemed nothing I did was able to fill that void. That season, awareness began with a knowing. When I took the time to slow my life down, in the quiet revelation came forth. I suddenly became aware that it was God that has been missing from my life. So I began seeking God earnestly, attempting reading the Bible and connecting with someone who seemed spiritually aware. Yet, without a firm foundation in God's Word, I was led into a season of spiritual warfare unlike anything I'd known. In the darkest moment of the struggle, being overwhelmed by unclean forces that I couldn't see but deeply felt, I cried out to God for help. His response was immediate and life-changing. Through His grace, I found deliverance and a renewed spirit. Since March 8, 2025, I've walked closely with God by His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, who has become my constant guide and best friend. I've learned about the gospel, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and how it transformed pain into purpose. Scripture like Romans 12 verse 2, warns us not to be conformed to the pattern of this world. I realize this is because the world is currently under the influence of the god of this age who seeks to pull us away from truth. God has reshaped my mind and my heart, calling me to a new way of living. He used my trials to grow my faith tremendously, building character, humility, and resilience. Hebrews 11 verse 6, the only scripture that never left my mind since childhood, reminds me that faith is essential to please God. I have fully surrendered to Christ, now Spirit-Led in no longer fearing the unknown, but embracing the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. I'm not perfect, but I'm grateful for the journey. From ashes to beauty, from emptiness to joy, God's faithfulness and love have transformed me. This podcast is my calling that God placed on my heart to share that transformation miracle that He did in my life, to honor Him by sharing His truth. Even when I doubt my own voice, I choose to see myself through His eyes and live for His glory.

What Spiritual Awakening Really Means

Now let's dive into the topic of what awakening is. Awakening is a profound spiritual experience where our eyes are open to the realities beyond the physical world. It's not just about seeing with our natural eyes, but perceiving with our spirit the presence and the power of God in our lives. Sometimes, God allows us to feel the emptiness of life without Him so that we can realize He is the very thing our soul has been longing for. The Bible speaks about awakening in many ways. In Ephesians 5 verse 14, it says, "Wake up sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you". This is a call to move from spiritual sleep into the light of God's truth. Before awakening, many of us live in a state of spiritual blindness or partial awareness. We might believe in God intellectually or culturally, but haven't yet encountered Him personally. This is a place of going through the motions without true connection. In 2 Corinthians 4 verse 4, Paul describes this blindness. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. Awakening breaks through this blindness. When God opens our eyes, it's often through a combination of personal struggle, divine intervention, and a hunger for something more. Your spirit begins to recognize that the emptiness or dissatisfaction that you feel can only be filled by Him. This awakening leads to transformation. I mentioned earlier in my testimony that Romans 12 verse 2, we're reminded: "do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind". Awakening is the first step in that renewal. It's important to understand that awakening is not a one-time event, but a process. A journey of growing closer to God, learning his truth, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and change us daily. As your spiritual eyes open, you begin to see your identity differently. You realize you are not defined by your past mistakes or circumstances, but by who God says you are - a beloved child, redeemed and chosen. In John 8 verse 32, Jesus says, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free". Awakening brings freedom, freedom from lies, fear, and bondage. This freedom is not just spiritual, but also practical. It changes how you live, how you relate to others, and how you face challenges. Your faith becomes a living, breathing reality. And finally, remember that awakening is a gift from God. It requires openness, humility, and a willingness to seek Him earnestly. Jeremiah 29 verse 13 promises, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart". This is telling us God isn't hiding from us. He's patiently waiting for us to seek Him. And when we do, He responds. That's what he did for me, and he wants to do the same for you too. A Guided Prayer For Open Eyes

Now let's quiet our hearts and minds as we enter into a moment of meditation and prayer together. God, thank you for loving us even when we feel lost. Thank you for pursuing us even when we don't fully understand who you are. As Psalm 34 verse 18 says, "the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit". So Lord, I pray for every listener today. If there is someone whose spirit feels empty or searching, reveal yourself to them. Help them know that they are loved, they're seen, and that you are closer than they realize. God, thank you for awakening our spirits and opening our eyes to your truth. Your word says in Ephesians 1 verse 18, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you". So, Lord, I ask that you open their spiritual eyes to see beyond the physical and recognize your presence in their lives. Help them to embrace their true identity in Christ and walk confidently in your love and purpose. Psalm 119 verse 105 reminds us, "your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path". So, Lord, guide us with your light and truth, and fill us with your peace that surpasses all understanding. Illuminate our path with your wisdom and grace. Help us walk boldly in the identity that you have given us, living lives rooted in your love and truth.
