Why Acknowledgement Changes Everything
Speaker 1What if I told you that one of the greatest keys to building a real relationship with God is something so simple yet so powerful. "Acknowledgement". Not just acknowledging God when life falls apart, but acknowledging Him in the small moments. In the morning. In your decisions. In your thoughts. In your conversations. Because relationship grow through attention, communication, and invitation. And the moment you begin treating God like someone truly present with you, everything changes. Today we are talking about what it means to acknowledge God daily, especially through prayer, and how acknowledgement becomes the doorway to experiencing His presence.
Season Two Starts With A Key
Speaker 1Welcome to Awareness Unlocked. I'm Stacy -Ann Carter. This is a space dedicated to awakening souls through spiritual awareness, inspiring transformation, and guiding us to discover our true identity in Christ. Here we explore real stories, biblical truths, and spiritual reflections that remind us of one powerful truth. God is love. My prayer is that every episode draws you closer to God, fills you with hope, and awakens you to the life He created you to live. Today marks the beginning of season two of Awareness Unlocked: How to Build a Real Relationship with God. And in this very first episode, we are starting with one of the most foundational keys to intimacy with God: Acknowledgement. Because before relationship can deepen, there must first be recognition of His presence. Today we are discussing how acknowledging God daily through prayer, communication, thanksgiving, surrender, and inviting Him into every part of our lives can change the way we walk with God. And I truly believe this episode may shift the way you walk with Him forever.
From Emergency Prayer To Daily Talk
Speaker 1Before I truly started building a relationship with God, I thought prayer only happened during emergencies, before meals, before bed, or inside church walls. But when I first started seeking God with all my heart, soul, and mind, it began with me turning my closet into a prayer room. It was the only place where I could close the door, and everyone in the house knew not to disturb me. That little closet became my meeting place with God. Inside that room, I spent hours praying, meditating on scriptures, and asking for His presence. But before I would even enter that prayer closet, acknowledgement had already started. You see, from the moment I opened my eyes each morning, before I said good morning to anyone, including my kids, before my feet even touched the ground, I acknowledged God first. I made sure my first thoughts, my first words belonged to Him. I would thank him for the simplest things: the roof over my head, my bed, my pillow, my blanket. The list was long and changed each day. But the first two things I consistently thank Him for were the breath in my lungs and His mercy and grace freely given to me. As time went on, I began talking to God throughout my entire day. At the time, I didn't realize I was living out what scripture says in 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 17. "Pray without ceasing". I included God in everything, when making decisions, big or small, when cooking, when getting dressed for events, when deciding whether to attend gatherings. I literally invited Him into every part of my life. And looking back now, I realized something powerful. It was through acknowledgement that I first began sensing the presence of the Holy Spirit. That simple, intentional, dedicated act each day, changed my relationship with God. And I have not stopped acknowledging Him up to this very day. In fact, I not only start my day with Him, but I also finish my day with Him and will continue to do so. It became the best part of my days to look forward to. So today we are diving into what it actually looks like to build a real, authentic relationship with God. We usually often use the word relationship in faith circles, but how do we practically move it from a concept in our heads to a living reality? Scripture shows us that the secret ingredient is a single continuous act, acknowledgement. Real relationship isn't just about believing God exists, it is about acknowledging Him in every room, every decision, and every single moment. Today we are looking at a roadmap of scriptures that teach us how exactly to do that.
SpeakerSo let's break this down into four movements.
Morning First Attention And Ongoing Prayer
SpeakerMovement 1: The Morning Standard and Non-stop Connection.
Speaker 1Let's start at the very beginning of the day. A real relationship acknowledges God before the world has a chance to crowd your mind. In Psalm 5, verse 3, David writes, "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice. In the morning, I lay my request before you and wait expectantly". Notice the relational routine here. David doesn't wait until things go wrong to check in with God. His first act of acknowledgement happens when the sun comes up. He directs his voice to God, lays out his heart, and then does something beautiful. He waits expectantly. You see, when you acknowledge God first thing in the morning, you are saying to him, You are the most important person in my day. Can you honestly say God receives your first attention each day? Or does everything else reaches you before he does? What is usually the first thing you acknowledge every morning? Is it God's presence or the pressure of the day? Yet a real relationship doesn't stop when you say Amen and leave the morn ing quiet time. It carries through the afternoon and into the night. This is exactly what Paul means in 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 17, with that famous, short, punchy command. "Pray continually" or as some translations say "Pray without ceasing".
SpeakerNow don't be confused. This doesn't mean you sit with your eyes closed and hands folded all day.
Speaker 1It means keeping the communication line wide open. It is simply a nonstop running conversation. It is acknowledging God's presence while you are driving, while you answer emails, doing dishes, or walking into a tough meeting? It turns prayer from a scheduled event into a lifestyle of awareness. So what would your relationship with God look like if you spoke to Him throughout your day? The same way you constantly speak to your friends, co-workers, or family. Have you limited your prayers to a religious routine instead of a relational connection?
SpeakerShare your responses in the comment section. Next, Movement 2:
Surrender In Decisions And Daily Direction
Speaker 1And this is Total Surrender and Daily Direction. Let me explain this movement. Once your communication line is open, acknowledgement has to move into your daily choices. This is where the relationship gets practical. Proverbs 3 verse 5 through 6 gives us the ultimate blueprint. It says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight". Building a relationship means you stop relying on your own smarts. To acknowledge Him in all your ways means you bring Him into your career choices, your finances, your parenting, and your private thoughts.
SpeakerSo are there any areas in your life where you want God's blessing, but not His involvement?
Speaker 1What would change if you truly invited God into every decision you make? Paul echoes this relational shift in Colossians 3, verse 23 through 24, telling us that whatever we do, we should work at it with all our heart, as working for the Lord, and not for human masters. When you acknowledge God as your ultimate boss and authority, even the mundane parts of your day become an act of connection with him. And what exactly happens when we do this? James 4, verse 7 through 8 promises.
Speaker"Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Speaker 1Come near to God, and He will come near to you". Submission isn't about slavery, it's about safety. Acknowledging His authority allows you to draw near, and God responds by drawing right back to you.
SpeakerNow let's dive into Movement 3:
Pursuing God With Your Whole Heart
SpeakerAnd this is Active Pursuit and Shared Intimacy.
Speaker 1Can we all agree that a real relationship is never one-sided? It requires a mutual active pursuit. God lays His heart on the line in Jeremiah 29, verse 13. It says, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart". So you see, in His very own words, He wants to be found by you. But He wants your whole heart, not a half-hearted obligation. So are you seeking God because you genuinely desire Him? or only because you need something from Him? And this is not an attack on you, this is to help you reflect.
SpeakerA perfect example of this is David.
Speaker 1David knew the secret. In Psalm 27, verse 8, he says, "My heart says to you, seek his face, your face, Lord, I will seek". That is the rhythm of a real relationship God invites, and we acknowledge the invitation by pursuing Him back.
SpeakerThis pursuit requires faith.
Speaker 1Hebrews 11 verse 6 reminds us that anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. You have to acknowledge both His reality and His goodness to stay in the pursuit.
SpeakerAnd last but not least, Movement 4:
Abiding And Learning His Voice
SpeakerAnd this is Abiding and Hearing His Voice.
Speaker 1Finally, a real relationship moves from a daily habit to a constant state of being. Jesus gives us the perfect picture in this.
SpeakerJohn 15, 4 through 5.
Speaker 1He says, "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself. It must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches". Acknowledgement means recognizing your absolute dependence on Him.
SpeakerApart from Him, you can do nothing. When you abide in Him, you learn the intimacy of His voice. In John 10, verse 27, Jesus says, "My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me". This isn't about head knowledge.
Speaker 1This is about experiential two-way communication. It flows perfectly into the Apostle Paul's ultimate life goal in Philippians 3, verse 10. It says, "I want to know Christ-yes. To know the power of His resurrection and participation in His suffering".
SpeakerPaul didn't just want to know about Jesus, he wanted to know Him intimately through every high and low of His life.
Guided Prayer And Practical Challenge
SpeakerSo as we close out today's teaching segment, my challenge for you is simple.
Speaker 1Start tomorrow morning with Psalm 5. Wake up, let Him hear your voice, and lay down your day before Him. But don't stop there. Carry 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 17 into your afternoon. Keep talking to Him without season. Let's move past casual religion and start building a real relationship with God through daily acknowledgement.
SpeakerNow let's quiet our hearts and minds as we pray this prayer together.
Speaker 1Heavenly Father, right now we quiet our hearts before you. Your Word says in Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God" So in this moment, we choose stillness. We choose to turn our attention towards you. We choose to acknowledge your presence. Father, thank you for the breath in our lungs. Thank you for your mercy and grace that you freely give us each morning. Psalm 5 says, "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice". So today, Lord, let our voice be found before you, before distractions, before responsibilities, before the noise of this world. And as your word explained in Proverbs 3, 5 through 6, teach us to acknowledge you in all our ways. Lord, create within us a genuine hunger for your presence. Your word also says in Jeremiah 29, verse 13, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart". So today, we seek you with our whole heart, not out of routine, not out of religion, but because we desire a relationship with you. Holy Spirit, teach us to walk with you daily. Remind us to include you in every conversation, every decision, every moment, in every part of our life. Help us become more aware that you are always near. Your word in James 4, verse 8 says, "draw near to God and he will draw near to you". So, Father, as we draw near to you, we have hopes that you will draw near to us. Jesus, teach us what it truly means to abide in you. Teach us how to remain connected to you throughout our day, no matter what that day looks like. Not only during prayer time, but continually. Help us to pray without ceasing. Help us to acknowledge you constantly. Help us to love your presence deeply. And may our relationship with you continue growing stronger day by day.
SpeakerIn Jesus' Holy precious name. Amen.
