We draw a hard line between singing gospel songs and truly worshiping God, because worship is surrender long after the music stops. We share a sacred testimony, unpack the biblical difference between praise and worship, and challenge you to use praise as a real weapon that shifts your atmosphere.
• worship as heart posture instead of performance
• building a daily rhythm of worship in ordinary places
• a personal testimony of God responding to hidden faithfulness
• praise as an action that releases spiritual warfare
• worship as a lifestyle rooted in John 4:23–24
• Jehoshaphat, Paul, and Silas as models of breakthrough praise
• “sacrifice of praise” in Hebrews 13:15
• shifting spiritual atmospheres through Psalm 22:3
• a guided prayer to worship in spirit and truth
Beloved, if this episode ministered to you today, I want to ask you to do three things:
First, if you haven't already, start your own rhythm of daily worship. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be long. Just sing to Him, talk to Him, praise Him and watch what he does.
Second, share this episode with someone who needs to hear it.
And third, please subscribe, rate, and leave a review wherever you're listening.

Singing Versus True Worship
Speaker 1There's a difference between singing a song and singing to God. One fills a room, but the other the other fills heaven.
SpeakerYou can know every lyric to every gospel song ever written, and still never have worshiped a day in your life. Because worship was never about the song. It was always about the surrender. It was always about the posture of your heart when nobody's watching, when the music isn't playing, when there's no audience, no applause, no Sunday morning lights.
Speaker 1Just you and Him. And here's what I've learned, beloved.
SpeakerThe moment you stop performing worship and start living it, God starts moving in your life ways you didn't even know to ask for. Atmospheres shift, chains break. The enemy loses his grip. Because praise is not a Sunday activity. Praise is a weapon. And worship, worship is the pathway into the very presence of God. Today I'm going to share something with you that I've held close to my heart for a long time. A sacred moment between me and the Holy Spirit that I believe will unlock something in you. Because if there's one thing I want you to walk away with today, it's this. God is not just listening to your worship, He's responding to it. Stay with me.
Season Focus And Why You’re Here
SpeakerWelcome to Awareness Unlocked. I'm Stacy -Ann Carter. This is a space dedicated to awakening souls through spiritual awareness, inspiring transformation, and guiding us to discover our true identity in Christ. Here we explore real stories, biblical truths, and spiritual reflections that remind us of one powerful truth. God is love. My prayer is that every episode draws you closer to God, fills you with hope and awakens you to the life He created you to live. Again, welcome back, family, to Awareness Unlocked. I'm so grateful you're here with me today. Whether this is your first time tuning in or you've been walking this journey with me from the very beginning, I want you to know that this space, this moment, this conversation, it's not by accident. The Holy Spirit drew you here, and I believe He has something specific He wants to deposit in your spirit today. As you know, we are now in season two of Awareness Unlocked, and the theme for the entire season is: "How To Build Aa Real Relationship With God". Not a religious one. Not a Sunday only one. A real one. The kind where He becomes your closest friend, the kind where you hear His voice, the kind where His presence isn't something you visit, it's where you live. In episode one, we talked about acknowledgement, the very first step in building that relationship, acknowledging that He is God, acknowledging him in every area of your life. In every decision. In every breath. And today, in episode two, we're going deeper. We're talking about "Worship and Praise" and how these two sacred acts become the pathway into God's presence, how they shift your atmosphere, how they shift your heart posture, and how the simplest act of daily worship can unlock encounters with God that you never imagined possible. I'm going to share a testimony with you today that is very sacred to me. Something that changed the way I see my time with the Holy Spirit forever. So get comfortable. Open your heart and let's step into His presence together.
Building A Daily Worship Rhythm
SpeakerIn episode one, "Acknowledgement", I shared with you the very first step I took to begin building the intimate relationship I now have with God. Now here's the next step: a quieter step. One that, looking back, transformed everything. I started worshiping and praising Him daily. Not just on Sunday morning at church, daily, everywhere. At home, in the car, in the closet. It didn't matter where I was. Worship and praise became woven into my closet time with the Lord. I would put on gospel music and I would worship Him. I would praise Him. And if for whatever reason I couldn't make it to church on a Sunday, I would have my own service at home. Just me and Him. At least an hour, sometimes more. I made it a habit to sing to the Holy Spirit every single day. And something beautiful happened. He began to expect it. To the point where if a day was coming to an end and I hadn't sung to Him yet, He would remind me. That was our intimate pleasure, our sacred rhythm. Just me and Him. Now I mentioned there's something sacred I want to share with you today. Something I've held close. Some time ago, I got prophesied over for the very first time. It was a night of worship and prayer with a group of brothers and sisters in Christ that I had never met before. A place the Holy Spirit had led me to. I wasn't told why. I just obeyed and I went. That night there was a young man playing a harp. A harp. And the head minister, a brother in Christ that God has chosen to use that night, called me out of the entire crowd to come stand upfront. I was sitting in the very back. I had never met this man in my life. When he called me out, I was so shock that I didn't even get up at first. I thought he was talking to someone else. He had to call me a second time. And even then, he didn't know my name, he only knew the name of the young man sitting next to me, so he used that instead. At this point, beloved, I had been singing to the Holy Spirit daily for almost a year. And the first thing this brother in Christ said to me was this: "The Lord wants to minister to you… by letting you listen to 60 seconds of the harp." In that moment - my spirit broke open. Because no one in that room knew anything about me. No one knew that singing to the Holy Spirit was our intimate thing. That it was sacred to me That it was the secret rhythm of my closet life with God. So I tried to hold my tears in as the room went completely silent. And the young man played that harp. For one minute, the Holy Spirit sang back to me. Then came prophecies about my life, past and future, that I won't get into here. But what I will tell you is this things about my childhood were spoken no human being could ever known. And eventually, I could no longer hold the tears. I sobbed in front of these strangers because God had seen me. He had heard every single song I had sung to Him, which started in my closet. And He chose that night to sing one back to me. I'm telling you this story for one reason, beloved. Even what you think is the simplest act that you do with or toward the Holy Spirit daily, He acknowledges it, He honors it, and He will go the extra mile to reward you for it. My reward was Him singing to me through a harp. Because I had been singing to Him, and clearly He had plans to sing back in His perfect timing. How beautiful is that! And honestly, I already knew He enjoyed my songs, not because I have the perfect voice, even though He thinks I do, but because there were days when I was alone and I would hear Him say, "sing me a song", and I would ask Him, What song do you want to hear, Lord? And He would tell me a song title, and I would have to go and look up the lyrics because I didn't know the song that He chose. But it was always gospel, it was always Him. You see, I was faithful in worshiping and praising God daily, no matter the circumstance, not just when things were good, but also when I was walking through some of the most difficult trials of my life. I kept my eyes on Jesus in worship and praise. And the peace that came upon me was substantial. Circumstances didn't have a hold on me anymore. Because that act, that simple act of daily worship, was an act of surrender. So always remember that the things you may consider small is actually pretty big to God because He doesn't require perfection, only intention. Now,
Worship And Praise Aren’t The Same
Speakerbeloved, I want us to go deeper into this because I believe the church often uses the words worship and praise interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. And when you understand the difference, your entire spiritual life shifts. Here's the difference between worship and praise. Praise is what we do, worship is who we are. Praise is an action, it's the lifting of hands, the shouting, the dancing, the singing, the declaring of God's goodness. Praise is vocal. Praise is expressive. Praise is the response of a heart that recognizes who God is and what He has done. But worship, worship is deeper. Worship is a heart posture. Worship is the surrender of your entire being to God - your time, your body, your attention, your will. Worship can happen in silence. Worship can happen in tears. Worship can happen on your face on the floor with no music playing at all. Praise gets God's attention.
Speaker 1Worship invites Him to stay.
SpeakerNow let's dive into scriptures of worship as a heart posture. Jesus said it Himself in John 4, verses 23 and 24. It reads, "But the hour is coming and is now here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. For the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth". Did you catch that? The Father is seeking - seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. God isn't looking for talent. He isn't looking for the best voice. He isn't looking for the most polished performance. He is looking for worshipers, people whose hearts are posture towards Him. People who worship Him, not because of what He's done, but because of who He is. So let me ask you, beloved, when was the last time you worship God for who He is? Not for what you needed him to do.
Speaker 1Just sit with that.
Praise As Spiritual Warfare
SpeakerNow let's talk about praise as a weapon and why the enemy hates it so much. In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat is facing a massive enemy army. He is outnumbered. He is outmatched by every natural measure. He should lose this battle. And what does he do? He doesn't send the soldiers in first. He doesn't send the warriors in first. He doesn't even send in the strategists first. It says, "he sends the worshipers in first". 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 says: "He appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise Him in holy attire, as they went before the army. And when they began to sing and to praise the Lord, the Lord set an ambush against the man of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. Let that sink in. When they began to praise, when they began to sing, God Himself said an ambushed. That beloved is why the enemy will do everything to keep your mouth from opening and praising God. Because he knows. He knows that praise is not just music. Praise is warfare. Praise is the sound that confuses the enemy's camp. Praise is the sound that releases heaven into your situation.
Speaker 1How powerful is that?
SpeakerAnd if you need one more example, let's look at Paul and Silas in Acts 16. Praise in the prison. They had been beaten. They had been thrown into the inner prison. Their feet were in stocks. By every standard, they had every right to be bitter, to be silent, to complain. But Acts 16, 25 and 26 says, "About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened". Did you hear that? Their praise shook the foundations of their prison. And I came to tell somebody today, your praise will shake the foundations of whatever prison the enemy has tried to lock you in, whether it's depression, anxiety, fear, lack, sickness, or confusion.
Speaker 1Open your mouth.
SpeakerSo I want to ask you, what prison in your life have you been praying about, but haven't yet praised your way out of? Write it in the comments, and let's praise God together. Now, here is something I want you to understand, beloved.
Shifting Atmospheres With Costly Praise
SpeakerAtmospheres are real, the spiritual realm is real. And when you walk into a room, there is an atmosphere there. When you wake up in the morning, there is an atmosphere in your home. When you get into your car, there is an atmosphere there.
Speaker 1And praise shifts atmosphere. Psalm 22 verse 3 says, "God inhabits the praises of his people". The word inhabit means to dwell, to take up residence, to make His home. When you praise, God moves in.
SpeakerSo the moment you start praising in your car, the atmosphere shifts. The moment you start worshiping in your kitchen, the atmosphere shifts. The moment you open your mouth in the middle of your trial and say, "God, I praise you anyway", the atmosphere shifts. Heaviness has to leave. Fear has to leave. Confusion has to leave. Because where God's presence is, nothing that opposes Him can remain. But here's the part that's going to challenge some of us today. In Hebrews 13, verse 15 - calls it the sacrifice of praise. It reads, "Through him, then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God. That is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name". A sacrifice. Beloved, praise is easy when life is good. Praise is easy when the bills are paid, when the relationships are healthy, when the body is healed, when the prayers are being answered. But the sacrifice of praise is what happens when you lift your hands while the storm is still raging. When you sing while the diagnosis is still on the paper, when you worship while the situation hasn't changed yet. That kind of praise moves God. And that's the kind of praise I'm calling you into today. Not convenient praise. Costly praise. The kind that says, even if you don't, I will worship you still. So is there an area in your life right now where God is asking you to praise Him before the breakthrough comes? What would your life look like if you worship and praise God, even
A Guided Moment Of Worship
Speakerin the mundane?
Speaker 1I want you to do something with me right now, beloved.
SpeakerWherever you are, if it's safe to do so. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, and let it out slowly. I want us to enter into a moment of worship together.
Speaker 1Let's pray.
SpeakerFather, Psalm 100 says. Make a joyful noise to the Lord and all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come into his presence with singing. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. So Lord, today we come. We come with our voices. We come with our hearts. We come with everything we have. And we lay it down before you. Psalm 95 says, Oh come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker. So Father, we bow, not just our bodies, but our hearts, our wills, our agendas, our plans. We surrender it all to you. Holy Spirit, teach us to worship you the way you long to be worshipped. Teach us to praise you in the morning, in the midnight hour, in the trial, in the triumph. Teach us that you are worthy, not because of what you do, but because of who you are. Shift every atmosphere over our lives right now. Break every chain that the enemy has tried to keep us bound in. Let every prison door fly open as we open our mouths in praise. And Lord, like you sang to me through an harp, would you sing to your sons and daughters listening right now? Would you meet them in their closets, in their cars, in their kitchens, in their secret place with you? We love you, Lord. We worship you.
Speaker 1We praise you. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

SpeakerBeloved, if this episode ministered to you today, I want to ask you to do three things. First, if you haven't already, go and start your own rhythm of daily worship. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be long. Just sing to Him, talk to Him, praise Him and watch what He does. Second, share this episode with someone who needs to hear it. Somebody in your life is in a prison right now that only praise can break them out of. Be the one that God uses who send them the key. And in episode three, we're going to unpack what it truly means to lay it all down at His feet - your dreams, your fears, your relationships, your future, your past, and trust Him completely as Lord. You will not want to miss it. Until then, beloved, keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep your heart posture toward heaven. And remember, He is always singing back to you. I love you. God loves you more.
