@twogingergems
Coming up on two ginger gems.
SPEAKER_00Two witches take the stage together in Berlin.
SPEAKER_01It's the 30th anniversary of a classic LA movie.
SPEAKER_00And there's an exhibition to be obsessed about.
SPEAKER_01Enjoy.
SPEAKER_00Enjoy.
SPEAKER_02From beautiful Hollywood, California. Please welcome two Ginger Gems with Kate and James. Let's get into it.
SPEAKER_00And we're back.
SPEAKER_02Who was that?
SPEAKER_01Let's get into it. Hello, darling.
SPEAKER_00We're back, babe. Been away for a week.
SPEAKER_01Been missing, haven't we?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we've been missed. We have been missed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's good, we're back. Hello.
SPEAKER_01Nice to be back. So why are we why were we gone, mate?
SPEAKER_00Why are we gone? Because people are always asking, why are we gone? We had little.
SPEAKER_01I was in England. I went back to England for back to uh see my family for a short impromptu visit. I had a bit of time between work and work, and so I went back to see my mum and dad. And uh and I just got back, so I was missing, but we were still gonna do it. I was gonna do it from England.
SPEAKER_00We were gonna zoom, we're gonna try the old zoom, but yeah, we had a sickness.
SPEAKER_01We had a sickness, we had a sickness with it.
SPEAKER_00We had like bring out your dead ding ding ding. We always bring out your dead over there. Shingles.
SPEAKER_01Shingles, Mickey Shingles, Mickey got shingles. Touch of the old shingles, yeah. Yeah, made my day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, did it, babe, when you heard it. Were you like the the mileage, the mileage? Imagine me, babe. I was like, oh, Mickey's got shingles. Old person. Oh, what is it? Old person's disease.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, diseased. You should have been.
SPEAKER_02More like more stressed person.
SPEAKER_01I should have told you you should have my key and you should have gone to my ass, because I mean you don't want to have the don't want to be watching around that baby. I did get to the book. Oh, it must be it must have been terrible for you to have to listen to that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's awful, babe. Are you all right now? I'm all right, but I think I was a pretty good nurse when I boped.
SPEAKER_01For the first few days, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was like, Is that how long it lasted?
SPEAKER_00I was like, oh, it lasts for a lot, babe.
SPEAKER_01But you're only good for the first few days.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's it, yeah. I was like, Well, it's it's still going on. I was like Florence Nightingale for like two days, then I was Nurse Ratchet for about three, and then I ended up like Dr. Harold Shipman babe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and for those who don't know Dr. Harold Shipman, he's looking up prolific serial killers in English history.
SPEAKER_00Didn't he kill them by putting like stuff in their making them a curry or something? What was it?
SPEAKER_01No, that one Tim.
SPEAKER_00Who was that? Because we watched talking about that we watched.
SPEAKER_01Shipman was a doctor, wanted to be over medicated and so on.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, but didn't he put stuff in like their food as well? Curries, no, he used to just jab them. No, I think he did put something in their food as well, babe. I think he put in their food before he could do it. No, and I'll tell you where I'm getting that from. What's it called, babe? That film we watched.
SPEAKER_02Uh the show. Emma, Emma Conway. Yeah. Yeah. A viewer's Choice, Emma Conway on the Ballad of Wallace Island.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, he talked about it. He talked about it. So I think he might have dosed them up with food, so they'd be like that, and then he could just kill them. Put it in, gone. Anyway, there you go. There you go.
SPEAKER_01We've been missing a week and we're back, and we're already talking about serial killers and serial killers and diseased people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So Mickey's a good way to talk about it. So we're a little bit further away from Mickey today than we normally are because he's over there. Yeah, he's over there behind a glass sheet.
SPEAKER_00With the what's it called? The Calamine? The Calumine. I think we've got shares in it. You had so much of it on big red X over there.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, so uh but now we're back. So have you had a so other than that, other than uh What's going on this week? What's been going on?
SPEAKER_00Well, babe, I mean you were in England, so I'm sure this was bigger news there than it was here in a way. But they announced the one of our favourite shows on this show on Ginger Gems, Traders.
SPEAKER_01Traders.
SPEAKER_00They announced the new celebrity lineup.
SPEAKER_01They did, they did.
SPEAKER_00And for feelings, concerns.
SPEAKER_01Celebrity Traitors was that it was one of the things on the on the plane. I sat and watched the finale of celebrity traitors again on the plane, yeah.
SPEAKER_00They were so good.
SPEAKER_01So good.
SPEAKER_00I mean, my god, that's one of the bet that's some of the best TV I've seen.
SPEAKER_01And it won the and it won the BAFTA the announcement of the of Alan Carr announcing that he was a traitor and winning the show was the it won the BAFTA for best TV moment of 2025 or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I saw them all on the stage with the colour.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I didn't see that. I saw it. No, I just saw that it had worked.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was mad, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So they've announced a new cast. What do you think?
SPEAKER_00Oh, babe. Do you know what I thought? Last last year was such an amazing I every time I when it came was announced and I was reading it, everyone was sort of topping the one I just read. You know, I was like, wow, Jonathan Ross, then Stephen Fry, then CM. And I was like, oh my god, this cast, how do they get this cast into reality TV, you know? So I was like, well, after what uh I mean, my god.
SPEAKER_01After that, the success of the last one, you'd think they'd have got the king in this one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would have thought old Charles might come in for a week. But that's all I'm saying, babe.
SPEAKER_01Could be very good.
SPEAKER_00Probably will be very good.
SPEAKER_01In the last one, there were some people I didn't really know.
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Who were and Joe Marlowe, for example, who were really, really good. So there could be some good people in this one, but it wasn't like, oh, these are this is a huge great booking, but Michael Sheen's a good one. Michael Sheen is a good one.
SPEAKER_00I'll tell you who's good. Michael Sheen's a good one. Richard E. Grant is a good one. No, that was last last year, by the way.
SPEAKER_01Strange, keep up, keep up.
SPEAKER_00Grass. Stop trying to. But if you haven't watched it, but you obviously have not, then you should watch it. Everybody watch it. I think you'll probably get it on Hulu now or something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you probably I think you can get it on uh Peacock.
SPEAKER_00Peacock, there you go.
SPEAKER_01Ross is trying to Ross is trying to get it get heard because he knows his mum's listening, that's where it is. That's why I think it's a good one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, shout out to Ross's mum! What's the name, babe? Nina. Huh? Nina. Beautiful name, Nina. So who's the who's the list, babe? Give us the list. Just run down, run through.
SPEAKER_02Emil Rajan. Yep. Bella Ramsey. James O'Castor. Okay. James Blunt.
SPEAKER_00Okay. The singer.
SPEAKER_02Jerry Hall. Yeah. Beautiful. Joanne McNally. Okay. Joe Lysett. Yes, very good. He'll be good.
SPEAKER_01Julie Hesmindal. Okay, yeah. You spend Coronation Street. She played Hayley.
SPEAKER_00Here we go. Corny Z. Coronation Street. Maybe it's not as bad as you just said. Who?
SPEAKER_02King Kenny. Right. I told you the King of Beard. Is he a boxer? Yeah, he's a YouTuber and a pro boxer. There you go.
SPEAKER_00Look, you boys should be loving that. You've got Mickey.
SPEAKER_02Lee Ann Pinnock. Pinnock.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Maya Jama. Yeah. Yes, from um Love Island.
SPEAKER_00Severity Love Island, the host.
SPEAKER_02Michael Sheen. Yeah. Who? Miranda Hart. Okay. Mai Halla. Okay. Professor Hannah Fry. Okay. Richard E. Grant. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_02Rob Beckett. Okay. That annoys me. Romesh Ranganath.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Oh, it'll be good. Romesh is good. Romesh is good. He hosts Weekly Slink. Ros Kemp. Okay, Ros Kemp, that'll be good.
SPEAKER_02Ross Kemp be good. Mr. Sebastian Cross. Don't know him. And Sharon Rooney.
SPEAKER_00You didn't say Jerry. Did you say Jerry Hall? Yes. Yeah, she might be good.
SPEAKER_01Right, okay, so we've got a bunch of people there we've never heard of, and some good people.
SPEAKER_00And some good people, so anyway, let's just see. It'll be fantastic. Let's just see. We won't be negative now, Lisa.
SPEAKER_01It'll be fantastic. Could be good. And it's not until like October.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. They're announcing early, aren't they? Everybody's announcing early.
SPEAKER_01So?
SPEAKER_00So there you go.
SPEAKER_01What else?
SPEAKER_00Do you know what I love about me? You know I'm going to talk about this. The old witchy woo's on stage together. Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine is doing a tour. Everybody scream. And she's in um Berlin and she had uh Paris Paloma open for her. And do you remember when uh remember The Bride, the movie The Bride, which we talked loads about because I'm obsessed? Right, and I said, I wish the ending had been all the all the women at the end just marching through to Paris Paloma's Too Much Labour.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00They did a duet of it on stage in Berlin, and it is saying it, closure ears. Fucking amazing. So I'm gonna be linking that below. But babe, it was a it's a blood. Any witchy witchies out there, and I know you're all out there, watch this because it is bloody, bloody fabulous. And all I need now, these two, I need women to join them. So I'm like putting up my you know, sending manifestation out that this has got to happen somewhere. But I want Cher on there, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, witchy women, any witchy women. Who else?
SPEAKER_01Do you remember when we had Florence and the Machine on Dance with the Stars?
SPEAKER_00Oh I remember it very well.
SPEAKER_01At the time, Florence Henderson was competing on dance with the Florence and the Machine came on to perform. Florence Henderson was competing on Dance with the Stars. And out in the parking lot near the trailers, um, all the makeup trailers and stuff, the the lads, the the pro dancers used to play football. Can you remember? Oh no. Can you remember this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was like Derek and everybody throwing the ball.
SPEAKER_01So they were doing they were throwing the ball outside in the parking lot, and it suddenly came, we had this like kerfuffle, shall we say, and someone came into the bungalow, I was in Debbie's bungalow, and someone came in and said, Oh my god. Uh Derek or one of them just threw the ball and it hit Florence in the head. And we all go running out thinking poor old like Florence Henderson in her 80s is like laid flat on the thing. Ron Florence. It's like, oh, it's okay, it's just and the machine, not Henderson. Oh, okay, then that's like David's dead, David's dead. Look that up.
SPEAKER_00Look up David's brother. David's dead, celebrity brother. Best television ever. Best ever, brother. Best clip ever. Best clip ever.
SPEAKER_01I'm a celebrity for that. But yeah. Florence if oh wrong Florence.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's just that Florence. Yeah, it was worse.
SPEAKER_02Alright, let's take a second to think everybody. Yes. Alright, what we're thinking of.
SPEAKER_00Yes, thank everyone. Thank everyone.
SPEAKER_01Let's take a moment.
SPEAKER_00Oh that's what we need. Let's take a moment.
SPEAKER_01That's what we need on that. More silence.
SPEAKER_00More silence. I think that would go down really well.
SPEAKER_01There's no need a minute of silence.
SPEAKER_00Let's just all have a moment of silence. Um for one minute. People feedback.
SPEAKER_01We'll thank all our people who listen to us. We want to thank all the people who listened last week, even though we didn't have a an episode. Yeah, but so many of the things that we've got to do. People will look for it because I kept getting people asking me about it.
SPEAKER_00And not only that, uh last week's basically jumped up loads. So that so people were catching up. Yeah. You know, so it gave people a week to listen. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01If you could like and subscribe, we would appreciate it. That would be and comment.
SPEAKER_00Comment, comment, comment, comment. And if you're watching on YouTube, put a comment on the put a comment on YouTube or send an email to us or message to us or whatever.
SPEAKER_02It's just so we can uh two ginger gems at gmail.com. Yes, there you go.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_01All right. All right what else has been going on?
SPEAKER_00So oh go on. Go on, go on. What do you want next, babe?
SPEAKER_02Well, we saw some music stuff the other day.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you know what's coming? Miles Davis. Miles Davis' 100th birthday, May the 26th. Do you know who Miles Davis is?
SPEAKER_01Yes, I know Miles Davis. And he's and he's coming. You were saying what?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no, no. I say it's coming up, his 100th birthday. 100th birthday, babe. Does that get you excited, babe?
SPEAKER_01I well, I I I do know who Miles Davis is. And while I was in England, just kind of moving, shifting gears a little bit, David Attenborough's 100th birthday.
SPEAKER_03I know! It was his 100th birthday.
SPEAKER_01It was brilliant, he's brilliant, and they did a thing at the Alba Hall where they had everybody in, like a big birthday thing at the Alba Hall. And he was there, and he looked like I mean when we saw Dick Van Dyke at the 98th, when he was 98, I know he's now 100. Yeah. But Kate and I worked on the 98th birthday thing for Dick Van Dyke. And he looked great. He looked great. Dick looked great for 100. David Attenborough.
SPEAKER_00It passed for 75. Spring chicken. It was bloody spring chicken.
SPEAKER_01Unbelievable. I don't know what Miles Davis looks like, but Miles Davis is dead, by the way. Yeah, he probably wasn't looking for then.
SPEAKER_00And he was uh yeah. Who am I thinking of then?
SPEAKER_01I have no idea, but Clive Davis I'm thinking of.
SPEAKER_00Oh Clive Davis is still alive. No, I think he's dead as well. Is he dead as well? I think so. I think Davis is.
SPEAKER_01He used to ring Debbie for Dance with the Stars tickets. And he'd call every week asking her for tickets, and then she realised it was someone pretending to be Clive Davis.
SPEAKER_00But why would he get Oh, was he picking America? He's an Aussie who was picking up.
SPEAKER_02No, Clive Davis is still alive.
SPEAKER_00You're thinking of Oh, I'm thinking of somebody else.
SPEAKER_02You're thinking of Clown.
SPEAKER_00I'm just thinking of somebody else. What's his name?
SPEAKER_02The horror director.
SPEAKER_01No! No, what's his name? Picking a cloud changing a plane.
SPEAKER_00Why the hell?
unknownWhat do you think call him for Disney?
SPEAKER_00Ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01Ridiculous. What about to Mars Davis or something?
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, Miles Davis, everybody look up. We'll put a link below. They're having celebrations all over the place. Yes.
SPEAKER_01David Attabill looks great for 100. Oh. Miles ain't looking good as well. No, he's not.
SPEAKER_00But he's but if you're listening to his music, he's sounded great. We saw a like a chat with his son and his nephew. And his nephew. It was fantastic. And um, yeah, so look, we'll put a link. But there's like I think in Santa Monica there's going to be a big jazz festival. Did that already? Anyway, have a look because they're doing loads of celebrations for him, and he's fantastic, and his music is unbelievable.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there you go.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_02Right, let's talk about some TV.
SPEAKER_01I will tell you that I'm up to date. I did get caught up since I got back. I got caught up yesterday on Survivor, which ends on Wednesday. Wednesday, which when this goes out, it'll be tomorrow. How many are left now?
SPEAKER_00What's the ones that are going to be? We're down to like the final.
SPEAKER_01They're doing the live finale at um Radford. What was Radford? Oh no, okay. Uh the new Netflix studio or whatever. But Television City built the set, but they're doing the finale. So now we're into the final, and it's been really, really good. But the like the two best people just got eliminated last year, which is which was annoying.
SPEAKER_00Who do you want to win?
SPEAKER_01Well, I wanted this guy Aussie to win, but like an idiot, he didn't play his idol, and he did his whole thing was I don't want to go home with an immunity idol in my pocket, and that's exactly what happened. So now there's like of the five that are left, it's like no when to hold him.
SPEAKER_03No when to walk in the water. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01No when to walk away. He certainly walked away. Um but uh anyway, so that's coming up. The finale of Survivor, that'll be good. Uh it's been a really good season, but uh and what have you got what have you got?
SPEAKER_00But do you know what we started watching? You have to watch this bait.
SPEAKER_01What?
SPEAKER_00Widow's Bay. This is actually well, this was a viewer's choice from CBD. CBD, so we got to from C B D, K C B Davis. Um yeah, so she sent me these. Well obviously we were off air last week, but we started watching Widow's Bay. Oh, it's really good, Bay. So yeah. It's the well the Welsh actor, Matthew Reese. Matthew Reese is the lead in it, and it's a so odd bait, but I think you'd like it. It's a bit horror, but it's not like it's kind of like a comedy horror. Comedy, horror, really stylised, very stylised, really cool. Widow's Bay. What's it on, babe?
SPEAKER_02Apple TV.
SPEAKER_00Apple TV. So yes, brilliant, brilliant um new show. Yeah, thank you, thank you, Casey. We've got another one for Casey. I will do that in the viewers choice section. But yeah, Widow's Bay, really um it's kind of it's so stylised, isn't it? You're kind of feeling, and he looks a bit like, well, you you call this, but he looks a bit like sort of Charlie Chaplin or kind of S.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I feel like they're giving him like a silent movie star look to him. Yeah, and it's really it fits into the tone of the show and the theme of the show.
SPEAKER_00Very, very good. And there's a uh English actress in it called Kate O'Flynn, who did a lot of has done a lot of like Mike Lee films. It's the first time I've seen her in something that's sort of a bit, you know, over here as well. And she's fantastic in it. There's one episode when she uh has a like uh uh arranges a party and and then they've got the mean girls, and it's really good. But it is uh it is scary and funny at the same time. It's very odd.
SPEAKER_02And Stephen Root, for those who know, is my stapler.
SPEAKER_00It's what, babe? Say that again.
SPEAKER_02Stephen Root, the actor.
SPEAKER_00Oh right.
SPEAKER_02What about him? For people who know who Stephen Root is, they'll they'll get the Arthur's reference. Oh, he's from Arthur Space. Okay. I mean uh Arthur Space. Yeah, he's in Widows Bay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's in Widows Bay.
SPEAKER_00There you go, babe. There you go.
SPEAKER_01But while we're on Widow's Bay, I will tell you, Classic TV.
SPEAKER_00Go on.
SPEAKER_01Favourite show ever.
SPEAKER_00Go on.
SPEAKER_01Widows.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's gonna be a hard one to find.
SPEAKER_01No one's gonna find it. No, we don't know. It's a hard time. Well, you might be able to find it.
SPEAKER_00I bet they will, babe, no.
SPEAKER_01Widows, best show ever. My favourite show of all the time. Dolly Rollins. Dolly Rawlins.
SPEAKER_00Dolly, if I could play any character in TV Rawlins, I think I would like to play Dolly Rawlins.
SPEAKER_01Ann Mitchell, who played Dolly Rawlins, was in East Enders and she just made a cameo back in it for an episode like a couple of weeks back. Yeah. And I messaged her on Facebook because we're friends on Facebook and told her how good she was because he was brilliant. She's getting up there, she's in her 80s now, bless her. But she's still acting, she was on stage last week. Oh, she's tough. She's tough to have tough as well. But Widows was it was a drama series set in Gangster London in 83. It was from 83. They did the second season in 85. And then they and it was the they did the movie, didn't they? There was a movie of it about seven, eight years ago.
SPEAKER_00Was it Steve Steve McQueen?
SPEAKER_01Steve McQueen did it, and it was but it was set in Chicago. And the movie was it kind of followed a similar plot, but it wasn't as good. But the the the one four men get killed doing a bank robbery, and their widows and their four widows in London take over and they do it. And it's the build up to that. And it was just at the time it was massive in England. It was like a huge hit. Six episodes, six one-hour episodes, but it's just so good. And but Dolly Rawlins, the lead character in it, the main kind of like lead widow.
SPEAKER_00Oh, such a great name, too. Dolly Rawlins. Dolly Rawlins. Yeah, she really was a Dolly Rollins.
SPEAKER_01She was, yeah, don't call her doll.
SPEAKER_00Don't call her doll. No.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Don't call her doll. Yeah, fantastic. Such a good show. If you can find it. I'm just saying, I only brought that up because you just.
SPEAKER_00Babe, have a look. Have a look online now. See if you can find it. Widows.
SPEAKER_01It's around. You can get it somehow or somewhere, but it's a good idea. Yeah, we'll put it with it. It's really good. It's dated and it's a little slow when you actually watch it back, but it's so good. So good. So good. It was done so well. Proper, like raw London, like you know that Lockstock and two smoking barrels kind of like back back kind of London gangster scene. It was that kind of thing. But it was uh I love it.
SPEAKER_00I wish they'd do more of that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_01Brilliant.
SPEAKER_00You know, that reality. I was really excited when the movie came out, but I didn't really.
SPEAKER_01It was like Yeah. Yeah. ABC did a mini-series of it in like ninety eight or something like that. Dreadful. And it was like because it was ABC, Disney. They're like, oh well, they can't, you know, they can't be too criminal. So they kind of they sanitize the whole thing and it was like, well then why bother? It's a crime series. But it can't be too criminal.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Why bother? We're not loving that, okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I saw do you like Martin Short?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Babe. There's a documentary out. Um called Life is Short. It is so friggin' great, isn't it, babe? He's a character. He's so amazing. He's been through so much of it. I know the thing is with these documentaries, you can't you know who the person is and you've seen their films, but you don't really know a lot about their personal life. Oh my god, it was like he's been hit with one shit after another.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you should definitely watch it. You don't know anything about him, yeah. I don't know anything about him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't really know much about his personal life. But um I won't go into that now because then people can watch it. But a really, really, really good and just shows what it is when you just human beings, we're so resilient, you know? If you can keep going and see the joy in things, even when things are not joyful, it changes everything. I had no idea about him, no idea. Anyway, yeah, so everybody, life is short, smart is short, Netflix, documentary, fantastic. And we did actually see a movie this week, uh new movie called Tuner, as in a piano tuner, and with Dustin Hoffman, who we haven't seen. Although it it is also a fish, actually. But it's T-U-N-E-R, but there is there is a they do talk about tuner. There is a connection to it as well in that really cute little film about a piano tuner who gets involved in some criminal activity. But it's like a thriller, kind of uh yeah, it's got everything in it, but like a small film, but really lovely, really done lovely. And uh Leah Woodall plays the lead British actor. What was that that thing? One more day, one day more that he was in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, which is also a great series, but um, yeah, uh yeah, Dustin Hoffman. If you it's out now.
SPEAKER_02No, it actually comes out May 22nd.
SPEAKER_00Oh, comes out May 22nd, um, and it's really, really good to see a little sh little film.
SPEAKER_01It's you know, talking about little films on the plane. I saw that um friend of Dorothy with Miriam Argolys at uh the little 21 minute short that was nominated for an Oscar didn't win, but it was uh Lee Knight. Yeah, really cute. Watched it on the plane. 21 minutes, really, really cute.
SPEAKER_00I'm you know, jumping backwards, I really thought she was gonna be in traitors, celebrity traitors.
SPEAKER_01Perfect in traitors.
SPEAKER_00I I think the whole world was waiting for her to be in traitors after that happened. She's so perfect. Yeah, she must have said no. There's no way they didn't ask her.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00There's no way they didn't ask her. There's no way, but you know what? Another thing I know, just quickly, uh coming back into movies, smoking. He smokes all through Juna. And you don't see anybody smoking in movies anymore. It's back, it's back in a big way. And also on the street, uh you know, I'm seeing girls, uh girls smoking everywhere.
SPEAKER_01You know they banned it in England now. Have you heard about that new rule in England?
SPEAKER_00You can't smoke at all.
SPEAKER_01You can children, um anyone born today in England will never be able to smoke because they they're raising the age limit. So as it was 16 to smoke, yeah, and they're raising it one year every year from here on out, so that the people so that when you're born, by the time you if you're born today, what by you know, you'll have to be 40 to smoke, but you'll never catch it up. So it means that younger people aren't allowed to can never smoke because the age the the limit for higher.
SPEAKER_02So starting in 2027, the minimum legal age to purchase cigarettes. Cigarettes will rise by one year every year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So that so that people can't smoke. Great.
SPEAKER_00But what does so can I just ask, what is the penalty for smoking then? What if they're caught smoking? Are we going to prison?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00We go to prison. We go to prison. Isn't that mad? Well, that's just gives something else what you've got to sneak. Yeah. Yeah. Another thing we've got to see. And that prices will go up because it all be black market.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we'll get it.
SPEAKER_00Your bedson and His.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Your Mulberry. Your Marlborough. Your Parliament's.
SPEAKER_02Are you beating yourself with that one, Ben? Yeah, you really are. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I've not understood a single word you've said.
SPEAKER_00Number, number six, number six.
SPEAKER_01Embassy number six.
SPEAKER_00Embassy number six.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've heard of them.
SPEAKER_00I've heard of them. Or my favourite silk cut.
SPEAKER_01Number and butler.
SPEAKER_00Silk cut. That was my cigarette. Was it? Silk cut. Little thing with the purple on. Oh, I loved it. Look, I went straight like that. Did you see him, baby? My hand and my hand went straight up to a cigarette. I love smoking. I loved it. Anyway. Carry on, babe.
SPEAKER_02Swinger's 30th year anniversary.
SPEAKER_00Oh, and oh there you are, that's another movie. Classic.
SPEAKER_01That was shot very close to where I live.
SPEAKER_00You know, like Was it in the 101?
SPEAKER_01The 101 diner that's now called the Clark Street Diner. That's the scene where he's kind of like talking looking at the girl across the door. Yes, yes. Heather.
SPEAKER_00What was her name? Heather, the actress.
unknownHeather Lockley.
SPEAKER_00No, not Heather Lockley. Oh, she's a big actress, blonde hair.
SPEAKER_01Heather Graham.
SPEAKER_00Heather Graham.
SPEAKER_01Is that that's not who?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Heather Graham with red hair.
SPEAKER_01So there was so there was the dressing room with Martina Lane. Marty just died a couple of years back. So there's the dressing room with Martina Lane that was in there. They show birds, but they don't go in birds. He lives in the apartment directly across from Gelson's.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's all that area. So that's like completely can you believe 30 years?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean you look at the two of them. If you look at them there, look at them now. You can tell it's 30 years. You can tell it's 30 years. Yeah, with well, both of them, to be honest. Oh, I haven't seen him for a while. Well, Vince Fawn's like rake thin on that. I mean he's like Mickey thin on that.
SPEAKER_00And then um we've coined Mickey thin!
SPEAKER_01Old shingles over there. Oh yeah, old shingles. But uh that's a good movie. That's a good movie. I think that is a movie. I first saw that when I first moved to Hollywood, and it feels like and it was like you're proper related to this like world. Yes, you know, and it was because and it was my neighbourhood, and it was like it just all feels related to that.
SPEAKER_00I love that. I love how that happens. Yeah, I never I wasn't here then, but I saw when I saw the film, I saw it. I think I saw it in I don't know, England at some point. But yeah, I absolutely loved it. Oh, and can we just say we had our first um outdoor movie experience of 2026 this year? We finally did it. We usually do it early.
SPEAKER_01Do you remember your last outdoor movie experience of 2025?
SPEAKER_00Oh no, what was it?
SPEAKER_01Me and you, love actually, on that roof.
SPEAKER_00Oh I took you there as a surprise. I took James listen to this, babe, everybody, right? I took it, I took him as a surprise. I wouldn't tell him what it was. Well, that's one thing you don't do to James, because he, you know, he's got to know everything. He was dreading it. So I said, we went out, we had something to eat.
SPEAKER_01Lizer or something. Yeah. And I'm something we would have to like in track.
SPEAKER_00And I was saying to him, look, don't have to worry about it, it's something nice, you're gonna enjoy it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but you wouldn't be nice.
SPEAKER_00Oh, oh, what is it? Oh yeah, and it was all for you. We went out, something to eat, and then we went there, and you were like, What is it? What is it? And we were going, I was saying, babe, this is something that you're gonna want to see. And we went up on a roof and we saw Love Actually because you'd never see Love Actually actually. And I could another classic film, Love Actually, yeah, yeah. And I dragged you up there. That was fun actually.
SPEAKER_01That was 25, 26. Go on. What have you been able to see outside?
SPEAKER_00Oh, so we got our whole thing set up, you know. You got to set it up at the back, we have the wall that we project it onto the room.
SPEAKER_01Oh, your place.
SPEAKER_00I literally are because we we like to do like outdoor movies, but this is the first one of the year we've done, which we didn't need, we should have done it ages ago because we've actually had really good weather this year so far, haven't we? We've had felt like summer for the last two months. Um, yeah, and we watched Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Oh, have you seen it, babe?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00You have to see this movie. Oh, you're never gonna see it. I won't be. It's basically it's a musical, but they sing all the way through, so it's an opera musical. It is so beautifully done. Yeah, no spoken word, no spoken word, but it it is visually, it is stunning, isn't it, babe? Yeah, it's I mean, it just blew us, it just blew us away. It was so amazing.
SPEAKER_01Your neighbours love you, but huh? Your neighbours must love you, blowing that shit out of the wall. Well, we gotta deal with their noise.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we've got to deal with their noise, they deal with us. We it's all a nice give and take with our world, isn't it, babe? Yeah, anyway, yes, so there you go. That's a few classic movies for you there, actually.
SPEAKER_01Fantastic.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01What else?
SPEAKER_00Um Fashion Time. Oh, James's favourite thing. Here we go. I'll do a quick one for you on fashion, babe. If you're hit in LA or you're coming to LA, get your ass down to um MF, MFR, what's it called? F I D M F I D M, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Um, they have uh which is very, you know, for fashion at the moment. They didn't know anything about well, basically let's quickly go back to um Love Story, you know, the one with Carolan Bassett and JFK Jr. But since that's come out, 90s fashion has had a resurgence, unbelievable. They are doing an exhibition which they started even before that came out, so they got very lucky because it's massive, and it's called Obsessed, and it's all uh 90s fashion. Devian Westwood, early Tom For Gucci, loads of uh brilliant stuff. Go down there and see it. It's I think it's on until maybe July or August, babe.
SPEAKER_02I'll have to look it up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, do you want to look it up? So what what happened then? Can you just say what happened with his eyes? He went boss.
SPEAKER_01Mickey did.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he did something I've never seen. No, he rolled his eyes, but it was a cross-eyed roll. No, it was a cross-eyed roll. He he put a roll eye with a cross eye into one thing. Anyway, but yeah, it's obsessed. It's called obsessed.
SPEAKER_01Shingle side effects.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, oh yeah. There's a lot of side effects to shingles, babe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But he was annoying before, that can't be why.
SPEAKER_00No, it's got worse. Oh.
SPEAKER_01It's on through June 27th.
SPEAKER_00Oh, there you go. June 22nd. So it's 7th. So it's very, very do you know what's happened on June the 7th, babe? Just to remind ourselves. Of course. Of course, Simon at the bowl.
SPEAKER_01Oh, right. Oh, what did you say? Is he going? No, I don't know I was lying, I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00I want to go, and you know who's two days later?
SPEAKER_01Go on.
SPEAKER_00Rod Stewart.
SPEAKER_01We went to see Rod Stewart at the bowl. That was good.
SPEAKER_00Uh every time Rod Stewart's come to the bar, I've got and see Rod Stewart. Do you know what really annoys me? Jumping back to the beginning of the show, Florence and the Machine are not doing Hollywood Bowl this year. They're doing the forum or Kia or something, and I can't do it anymore, Babe. Is the forum and Kia the same thing? Anyway, I can't do it anymore. Can't do it, babe. Can't do that place anymore. It's too much of a thing. Anyway, talk about me moaning about that fact she's not doing that. I think it's time to call it. I haven't got the clock, Bob. Can you give me the clock? Give me a f. Oh, put put it on there for me, babe. We've got this week. Minnie's moaning minute. Do we call it that? What do we call it? Minnie's moaning minute? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What were we moaning about this week?
SPEAKER_00Well, but you went to England, babe. You went to old Blighty and you got on a plane.
SPEAKER_01Right. Right?
SPEAKER_00Three, two, one.
SPEAKER_01So I went Premium Economy. Yes. Because everything, all the prices have gone up, so uh business was ridiculous. I went Premium Economy. Virgin Atlantic got on it. Premium Economy is becoming more and more like economy. It used to be nice, you used to go in and it's like double the price, so you go in and it was clearly better.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Um the nicest thing about premium economy here was the check-in desk. The check-in desk was very nice. You get on the plane, I'm walking down thinking I'm an economy, and I look, and there's my seat. And it's like everything in it was shit. The seat was shit. The headphones were shit. The like you crammed in, you're back down to what economy was 10 years ago. Always, yeah, but what's the way? And it's now so like the whole thing premium economy, it's like you're paying premium, and it's just not. So now what they do, there's more premium economy seats than there are economy seats. You've got the people in the back, and so you all it is is to pay for different levels, different levels. Different levels. You go on a you go on Delta, there's economy, economy plus, economy something else, economy something. You're paying all these stupid things just for something a little bit more, and it's annoying as shit because it's there's nothing premium about premium economy.
SPEAKER_00Okay, now we take a vote here. I will put it up this week, so then we're gonna do a poll. We'll do a poll so everybody can do this. But we'll do a vote now. Eddie, pointless or what was the other thing? What the fuck was it?
SPEAKER_02Fair point.
SPEAKER_00Fair point or pointless, fair point, check.
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Eddie.
SPEAKER_00Fair point, Ross, check. Fair point, check and me double, double, double, blah, blah, blah, blah. Fair point. Well done, James.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna add one more thing into the moon in a minute, and this is completely unrelated, but this is my cousin Lynn asked me to say this.
SPEAKER_00Yes, go for the post.
SPEAKER_01Nothing annoys her more than putting the poster up on a lamppost and then for advertising something, and then the event comes and goes, and four months later that thing's still up there. There's a cleanup. Poster on a lamppost, apparently across near where she lives. It's for a concert that took place over a year ago.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so here's the note for Lynn what people need to do. If you're putting the poster up, take the poster up.
SPEAKER_01Take the bogger down. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Take the bogger down.
SPEAKER_02Okay. We have another viewer's choice.
SPEAKER_00We have viewers' choice. Yes, we have one from Casey, going back to Casey who gave us Widows Bay. Um, Audacity, AMC Bay. Yep.
SPEAKER_02It's a show about Silicon Valley.
SPEAKER_00It's a show about Silicon Valley. I haven't seen it, but apparently very good. I haven't seen it yet, it's on my list. And the other one is Bet Midler. And uh this is from my um my niece, Ellie, beautiful, lovely Ellie.
SPEAKER_01Hello, Ellie.
SPEAKER_00Hello, Ellie. Hello, Ellie. Um, she said to me, I'm sure Ginger Gems are gonna like this. Bet Midler has done a um a duet song with Barbara Hershey.
SPEAKER_02Hershey.
SPEAKER_00Hershey, who was it they were in Beaches together. That's a classic movie. Stick that in it, beaches cry your eyes out. Um, and it's called Um Bound to Little Fascist Bound to Lose.
SPEAKER_02All You Fascists, All You Fashionists.
SPEAKER_00And it's a remake, she's it's a a remake, or would you say remake or re whatever? Um, of Willie Guthrie's 1944 song for In World War II, and they've redone it, and you know for who, obviously. So, yes, Fascist Bound to Lose. Thank you, Ellie. And yes, the ginger gems are standing behind me.
SPEAKER_01Is it just me or has Kate's volume gone up? You seem to be very loud.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry, am I just loud? I'm just loud.
SPEAKER_02Loud uh.
SPEAKER_00Loud uh.
SPEAKER_02And that leads to the shout-out, right? The Miller shout-out.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, shout out. Well, bet Bet Bet gets gets the shout out without even uh Yeah, she's always gonna get the shout out. Was that it? Did we have another view? It was choice, maybe we did, but I've forgotten it. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I think that was it. So who's made who's made the gem cut today?
SPEAKER_01Oh David Attenborough.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, 100%. Uh Florence and Paris Paloma.
SPEAKER_01Some of the celebrity traitors line up.
SPEAKER_00Yes, a few of them. Mars Davis, look up stuff to celebrate such an amazing musician. He definitely makes it. Widow's Bay, thank you, Casey.
SPEAKER_02Swingers, swingers, swingers, Martin Short, Umbrellas of Sherbourg.
SPEAKER_00My god, we've got a lot today, babe. Yeah, that's good stuff. Yeah, new movie tuner, Martin Short, exactly. Um, yeah, I think that's it. That's about it.
SPEAKER_01I know who didn't make the thing was Virgin Atlantic's Premium Economy. No, not so premium.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely 100% did not make it. Alright, pull a card, babe. Oh gosh. Pull a card, babe. Come on. I mean, got them out, everybody.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Talk amongst yourselves. So, Mickey, how are you now? You're alright.
SPEAKER_02You want to know better? You want to know about the shingles? Oh my gosh. Stay the F over there. Do you know what my brother said?
SPEAKER_00My brother said, Do you know what my brother said? He said, uh, I said, Mickey's got the shingles. He said, Do you know it makes him impotent? Could make him impotent. Anyway, that's it. We'll drop that one. He said, I said, how did he get that then? I said, Well, it's a I said, it's got to do with like um your immune system, distress, everything like that. And he went dirty.
SPEAKER_02And he went rolling around in the mud.
SPEAKER_00She said, being dirty. And my brother said, Yeah, maybe also. He goes, Um, he's got a mad fucking girlfriend.
SPEAKER_02She ain't right.
SPEAKER_00Who knows? That's not being a little bit more than a little bit.
SPEAKER_02I think Jez hit the nail right on the head.
SPEAKER_00Go on, babe. You picked a different one last week.
SPEAKER_02The nail right on the redhead.
SPEAKER_00The nail right on the redhead. Oh, babe, guilt.
SPEAKER_01Guilt.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you picked it up.
SPEAKER_01What are you feeling guilty about?
SPEAKER_00It's you've picked it, babe. Look at that.
SPEAKER_01Guilt.
SPEAKER_00Look at that. I'm not even gonna, I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_01Is this because I missed last week? Well, it wasn't my fault, wasn't it? No, it wasn't yours because we were gonna do it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Shingles sally over there. Um, oh, we've picked guilt, and there's a what it uh we'll put this card up, but always note in these cards woman's holding her head, woman holding her head, scratching.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Oh shingles.
SPEAKER_00Scratching. Oh well, she's not really scratching, but it looks like they are. Actually, it looks like the Met Ball with all the hands coming over. Yeah. Oh, there you are. If you remember that, anyone feeling guilty guilt. Well, look, it's like it's coming it I I always take this as you know when your mind becomes like monkey monkey mind, where you're just going round and round and you're going over things all the time. Yeah. Re rehashing everything. Yeah. I always think it's more like that because you see above a, I'm gonna put this card like I always say, the grey clouds. But look above the grey clouds. What's above the grey clouds?
SPEAKER_01The flowers.
SPEAKER_00The flowers, exactly. So basically, get out of your head, stop blaming yourself for shit that you've got no control over. Because if you can, there's a beautiful world up there with a beautiful sky and beautiful flowers, and you've got to start, well, as they say, smelling the smell it what do they say? Smell the roses, smell the roses. Smell the roses, babe, and stop bloody rehashing shit. Because it's not your shit. That's why you're holding your hands to your head, and then you've got other people's hands with claws grasping at your brain. It's not you. It's not you. Let it go.
SPEAKER_01Get out of your head.
SPEAKER_00Get out of your head, babe.
SPEAKER_01Mold time since mean you've got out of his head, can you remember? Yeah, yeah. In the old days. Yeah, in the old days.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it used to be fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Alright, say goodbye, guys. Thank you very much for watching. Thanks for listening. Remember to subscribe.
SPEAKER_00What do we do, babe? I don't know, don't I? Don't know. Do you know not what to do? Who cares? Anyway. Anyway, babe.
SPEAKER_01Nice to be back.
SPEAKER_00Nice to be back.
SPEAKER_01See you back.
SPEAKER_00See you next Tuesday.
