Good morning, and welcome back to Praying for Them, Your Godfrey and Self. This episode today is talking about a godly marriage, chapter 1. Matthew 19, 4 through 6 states, Haven't you read? He replied that at the beginning their Creator made them male and female, and said, For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate. Amen. I'm going to read a prayer that I wrote back in 2011. O God, O Lord, sweet Holy Spirit, how excellent is thy name. Thank you for loving us and coming to see about us when no one else was around to do so. Thank you for being a forgiver, caring, and compassionate Father, forgiving us of our sins, seen and unseen. We love you and we exalt thy holy name. In the name of Jesus, God, I ask that you send me my God friend spouse in your due season. I pray in the name of Jesus that our marriage is a godly marriage created by you and for you. A wedding that is endowed with your Holy Spirit and your leadership. Our marriage, our children, and our family are destined for greatness. God, we ask that you pull our greatness out of us so that the world can see your hands at work within us. Keeping our covenant with you so everyone can see you and not us in our marriage. Bring our gifts and talents to the forefront so you may get all the glory and all the honor once again in all that we do, oh God. Heavenly Father, you said in your word that he who finds a good wife finds a good thing. God, I am waiting for my spouse to see me. I will not search around town. I will not run around looking up on the rocks for him. I will not place an ad in the newspaper looking for my spouse. I will not get a shirt made stating God fearing single in need of a God-fearing spouse. Because I know in your due season, God, you will make our paths cross. I want our marriage to be aligned with your will, your purpose, and your destiny for all lives. All it takes is one moment in time for you to bring us together. Oh God, you can make a small gesture unfold into a great conversation, into a magnificent connection. Help us to be examples of what a godly marriage should be like each and every day. God, help me to be his safe haven here on earth, his peace of mind, and his strength when he is weak. Please help me to be his spiritual eyes when he cannot see his way. Help me to be a supportive and submissive spouse, a great lover, a great listener, a great comforter, and most importantly, a great woman of God. Not just a great woman of God for my spouse, but within our marriage, our community, and any place our feet shall tread our trod. Once you place my rebel back within the right drill page, please allow me to be the spouse that you had created me to be. For us to be complete again. Please help me to be a true helmate. Help me to be an asset and not a hindrance to our marriage. And I pray the same thing over my spouse. I pray we stay within our marriage and we do not travel outside of our marriage to entertain ungodly things with other people or things. I pray that my spouse compliments me and lifts me up closely to you. I pray he will pray for and over me like you have called him to pray over me and for me, oh God. God, I ask you to help him to know when to pray when I am weak. I need prayer to make it through each and every day. Please teach my spouse and me how to cover each other in prayer, holding us accountable to your will over our lives. Teach us how to pray for and over each other and show us how to fast as a couple. Now please oversee our marriage, our decisions, our actions, our prayer life, our fasting, and our reactions daily. Help us to fight through prayer, bringing all issues and concerns to your throne. Help us to follow Ephesians 5, Proverbs 31, and 1 Corinthians the 13th chapter throughout our marriage, Heavenly Father. It's in the name and in the blood of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen. Amen. I wrote that prayer back in 2011 because when you've been in a rowly marriage and you are, you know that you're not equally yoked. You know that your life and your relationship is not going the way that it should because it's not what God has called you to walk in. Every relationship is not meant to go with you for eternity, right? Some relationships come to teach you lessons, they come to help you to grow, it comes to help you see a lot of things. So we have to learn how to know the difference between the two, right? All relationships don't mean, oh, I'm supposed to take it to the next level, I'm supposed to get married to this person because you can be connected spiritually. And I done been there, I done done that. And let me tell you, when you got a tie, soul tie to someone, that stuff is actually real. And I'm jumping ahead of myself because I have been connected to someone where I felt this person. I knew when they was gonna call, I knew when they was gonna show up. I will pick up my phone and say they're about to call and they will call. I'm talking about spiritually, I was entwined with this person, and I knew them from the inside out, and but it wasn't what God had for me at that time. So, but I'm gonna come back, but that's a whole nother chapter. But yes, we definitely need to sit down and like, what do I really want in a relationship, a godly relationship? Well, what person do I need to become? You know, God's not saying, oh, change who you are, but we gotta change who we are, right? You cannot be praying for this God fearing, wonderful spouse to come and for them to be praying and fasting and going to church seven days a week, but you at home every day and don't barely pray. You have to pray and align yourself for the things you're praying for, right? This is why we have to align ourselves to the things that we've been praying for and also preparing ourselves for the things that we have prayed for. A godly marriage is a divine covenant that is not taken lightly before God and other witnesses. A marriage of honor, trust, patience, humility, and forgiveness. Having a godly marriage is the best marriage to have because that means God is at the center of your marriage. Being married is a job within itself. And you must pray over your marriage before you get married, and even more after you are married. Prayer just don't stop because you found your spouse. You're gonna have to pray to get through your marriage because there's gonna be some ups and some downs. It's gonna be some disagreements, it's gonna be some I'm right, you wrong, and there's gonna be a whole lot of pride. This is why we have to pray to humble ourselves in our marriage, to humble ourselves to surrender, to humble ourselves so we can hear from the Lord. We have to learn how to submit to our spouse growing in the word of God together, entering spiritual prayer together, transforming and conforming to the person God would have us to be with for our marriage, right? Um, we have to reach our full potential when we are in relationships and when we're looking to go deeper in a relationship, prayer, praying over our other friendships, families, children, as well as praying over our spouse and oneself will be very helpful in the long run. We should pray over everything, who they're connected to, who they talk to, who they work with, because everybody is connected to everybody, right? And you know how they say that oh, everybody could be having a joyous day, and one person can walk in the room and bring a door cloud, and it shuts everybody down. And this is what we have to pray that our spouses are, our relationships that we come in contact with, that they're healthy, that they're good, and that we can help our relationships along the way, right? Everyone plays a part in your marriage. So why not pray for everyone? Making sure God surrounds you and them with the right people and not throng people to help your marriage climb toward the greatness that God designed for you both. Don't get me wrong, God, your spouse, and you are entwined together. But God sends people to help you both along this journey to excel and to be a Christian. Prayer equips us from what is to come. When you do not accept God first, you may end up in a rowly marriage and not a God-ordained marriage. Once again, I've been there and done that. I remember when I was younger and my boyfriend's dad asked me, Why aren't you all married yet? You know, you're missing out. And I didn't understand why he kept saying that, but it made me think about what we were missing out on. Like, oh, what we're missing from a worldly standpoint. Then a question popped into my head, why aren't y'all married yet? I mean, your high school sweetheart, y'all got three kids, we just brought a house together. And my boyfriend and I talked at the time about marriage, and next thing you knew, we were married. All it took was someone to plant the seed of marriage in our head, and we were ready to jump the marriage bandwagon with everybody else. I wasn't looking at the pros, I wasn't looking at the cons of being married to him for a lifetime. I was just ready to jump on the marriage bandwagon with the rest of the world. For something God was not in my vocabulary whatsoever at that time. My high school sweetheart didn't go to God and ask for my hand in marriage. I didn't ask God for permission to accept his hand in marriage. We got married out of love. And it takes more than love to make a marriage work. When we as Christians do not accept God or even think about how he would feel if we marry a certain person, it will greatly impact our relationship with God because we did not get his blessings before we decided to go down the aisle with that particular person. God knows what we need in a spouse and what we don't need in a spouse. Therefore, we must consult God. And I'm telling you in advance, during that time when we he proposed, and it really wasn't a proposal. He was like, hey, why don't we just get married? Okay. And I'm telling you, there were so many red flags along the way. I'm like, Lord, if this ain't meant to be, you tell me, and I ain't gonna go through it. And God gave me warning after warning after warning, sign after sign after sign. And I even told my sister, I was like, I'm about to call for the wedding, I'm gonna give y'all the money back with y'all dresses. It's over. It's gonna be a money loss because I'm not gonna do it. And then my sister was like, if you don't go down, that hell, I done spent all this money on this wedding. And she's like, I'm gonna put a shotgun in your bag. And so, you know, I'm like, okay, maybe just over-exaggerating. Y'all done been together all this long, da-da-da-da. And once again, I went on went through with my marriage, and I remember, and once again, this is gonna be in the book, and we'll talk about it again, but I'm telling you, when someone knows themselves, but they do things to please you, they will step out of whom they are just to make you happy, but they always gonna convert back to who they are, right? And we offer, I'm so excited. I'm like, yes, we getting married, we got married. Oh, it's so beautiful. The heavens and the stars were just lighting up, illuminating for us. We got into that first argument, probably about a month later, after we got married, and the first thing he said was, I didn't want to get married. That wasn't my makeup, that wasn't my wedding, that was yours. And instantly, it was like, God, like I told you. And you went across that room anyway. I tried to tell you and you didn't listen. So that's why I'm saying we have to learn how to accept God's warnings, God's answers when he gives them to us, right? We have to learn how to say, okay, God, give me the peace to let go. Give me the peace to do the right thing. Because we we can't keep asking God to give us the answer. Then he gives us the answer, but then we say, No, I want another answer. I want another answer. I want another answer. Just like Gideon and the fleece, right? He was like, one minute, he's like, okay, God, if you really want me to do this, make this fleece wet. You know what I'm saying? And then God made it wet. He's okay, then for me, just to confirm one more time. Now I want you to make this fleece dry. And you know, and he did that. And we do that to God several thousand times, right? And we have to learn how to not keep asking for signs when God gives us the signs. So this concludes our um podcast for today. I'm going to pray us, yeah, and then I will talk to you all again tomorrow. This is so, so exciting that I get to read my book. Don't know who's listening, but I'm gonna keep on reading this book. Um, and hopefully it'll touch someone, and it will be a blessing to someone. Amen. So let us go to the Lord in prayer. Honey Father, we thank you so much for this gathering right now, Honey Father. We thank you so much for praying for them, your Godfriend spouse book. Holy Father, we pray that this book has been a blessing to someone. We pray that someone can listen to this podcast and see that it is truly good. Like they're truly learning how to involve prayer on the daily for their spouse and for the one that is to come. Hell and Father, I'm praying right now for clarity and discernment for the married person, for the single person, for the person who's in the middle and don't know if I want to be in a relationship with someone. God, I'm praying for your will to be done in their life. God, I'm praying that you speak hope and reassurance into their soul to let them know that you have great things in store for them. Heaven Father, I'm praying that you bless their marriage. I'm praying that you bless what's coming their way. Heavenly Father, and I pray that this word continues to open up and to help us to be a better person each and every day. Heavenly Father, help us to be aligned to your will and your way. Help us to accept your answers, Heavenly Father. And as we go through this book, oh God, bring clarity, bring discernment to our heart, man, souls, and spirits, oh God, that we make the right decisions, that we make the right calls, Heavenly Father. We don't want to waste any more time with the wrong relationships. We don't want to be in something right now that you're not calling us to be into, oh God. So, God, I'm praying right now in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that you will guide us on our personal relationship walk in intimate relationships, Henry Father. God, I'm praying that you will always show us that you are the head and not the tail. I pray that we will be aligned to your voice, Heavenly Father, to hear you say, This is the one, to hear you say that's the one, to make sure that we got our eyes open to see that's the one, Henry Father. When you place it in our heart, mass, souls, and spirit. When you do say it, let us know your voice. Because you said, My sheep know my voice. So, Hell Father, we pray that this person who's seeking their spouse, that's seeking that God fearing person, that they truly hear your voice say, There she is, there he is. Approach them. That's the person I have for you. So, God, we just pray that when that time comes, that you will align our path according to your will and your way and your timing, and help us be ready, equipped, and prepared to receive the person that you have for us. Lord, we thank you for all that you're doing in our life. We thank you for the many blessings that you have bestowed upon us already. And God, we already are excited for the person that you have for us. God, we give you the glory, we give you the honor, we give you the praise right now. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Thank you all for tuning in. Thank you all for listening. And tomorrow we will pick back up into the first chapter of talking about a godly marriage. I didn't even get past the first two pages, but we will continue to carry on. Um, I hope you all have a blessed day. I hope you all smile and know that this is our time, this is our season, this is our moment to be closer to God as we look for our God friend's past. And not everybody ain't looking. Because God said, He who finds a wife. So I ain't looking. He better come find me. I put my post out there and I go to the stores and I do what thus says the Lord. So I'm hoping in all that I do, the Lord will put me on his path or him on my path so we can meet in his due season. So I'm gonna quit talking because I'll be on here for another 45 minutes. But I hope you all have a great day. Smile and know that we're praying for them by God, friends.
