Good evening and welcome back to Praying for Them, their God friends spouse. Thank you all for taking this journey with me to listen to my book and so we can start breaking it down. And I'm gonna finish chapter two, but I'm gonna do something different for chapter three. For chapter two, I'm gonna continue to break down the lessons within that chapter. But what I'm gonna start doing going forward is I'm gonna read the whole chapter and then follow up with the lessons from that chapter, amen. So that way you can get the whole story and then we can break it down, amen. Take a deep breath with me as we go back into chapter two, overcoming self. Because this chapter right here, it helps us go a little bit deeper on looking at ourselves. And let me start with this not every connection is covenant, some connections are lessons. Sit with that for just one moment, because just because it felt right and it felt real doesn't mean that it was right, just because it lasted a long time doesn't mean it was meant to stay. And just because you love that person doesn't mean they were aligned with God for your life. Some people were just assignments and not attachments. Some relationships came to teach you not to keep you, and today we're talking about something that isn't always easy to face, but it's necessary for growth, amen. And that is breaking soul ties and aligning yourself with God. Let's ground this in the word of God, right? Scripture text for this chapter is Philippians 2 and 3. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourself. Amen. Now I know at first glance that sounds like it's just about how we treat people, right? But it also challenges something deeper. Why do we hold on to people? Is it because of love or is it because it's just an attachment? Is it purpose or is it just comfort? Let me give you another scripture to support this. Proverbs 2, I'm sorry, 4 and 23 states, above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Amen. That means everybody doesn't deserve access to your heart. Everybody don't deserve access to your spirit, to your soul. They don't deserve to be nowhere around you because the scripture says, above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. So quit giving people access to your heart, to your emotions, and to your vulnerability. And if we're being honest, sometimes we give people access that God never approved. I had to come face to face with something about myself. I was holding on to things in people longer than I should have. Not because God told me to, but because I was emotionally tied. And if I'm being honest, it felt safer to hold on than to let go. Even when it wasn't healthy, even when I knew deep down this wasn't right anymore, I just kept ignoring it. Because letting go feels like losing something. Even when we're not losing anything, it's actually what's been holding us back. We're just afraid of what people think. We're afraid of what's going to happen if we're not together. We're just afraid because we don't know what's going to happen when we let go. Let me ask you something and really be honest with yourself. Have you ever stayed connected to someone because of history, because of loneliness, because you kept hoping they would change, because you didn't want to start over? Yeah, I know that feeling. Me too. And what I learned in this familiar moment, I'm sorry about that, it felt like it was safe, right? Even when it was actually keeping us stuck. Let me say that again. Sometimes familiar doesn't always mean healthy, and just because it's comfortable doesn't mean it's God. 2 Corinthians 6 and 14 states, do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. This isn't just about relationships romantically, from that scripture of do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Amen. It's about alignment because when you're tied to something that isn't aligned with God, it creates tension in your spirit, and you start feeling torn between what you know and what you're used to, right? I remember being told I was spoiled and I used to deny it, but later in life, I realized something deeper. I wasn't just spoiled in a natural sense. I was covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. I am covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. God has been providing for me, God has been protecting me, and God has been keeping me. Even when I didn't fully acknowledge him the way I should have, even when I made decisions without consulting him, he still covered me. And I thank the Lord for that. And that realization hit me hard because I had to ask myself, if God has been this good to me, why am I settling for less in my relationships? Why am I choosing connections that don't reflect his protection? Amen. That question changed me. Why am I settling in these relationships? Why am I not just waiting for who God has for me? I started praying differently, not just for blessings, but for transformation. God, make me better and not better. I said that in the last episode. Make me a giver, not a taker. Align my will with yours, oh God. And then I added this God, remove anything in me that is attracted to what's not good for me. Amen. Let me say that again, and you might want to write that down. We need to say, God, remove anything in me that is attracted to what's not good for me. Amen. That's a different, different kind of prayer. Because now you're not just asking God to fix them, you're asking him to fix you. But let me tell you this: the hardest prayer I ever prayed was, God, change me so you can get the glory. Because when you pray that, things start getting exposed, not just people, but patterns, mindsets, habits, and attachments. Psalms 139.23 states, Search me, O God, and know my heart. Amen. That prayer will reveal things you didn't even realize was there that was buried deep down on the inside. People will start falling off, situations will start shifting, conversations will start feeling different, and it doesn't always feel good, but it is very necessary in order for us to be transformed. Amen. Because the moment you decide to align with God's will over your life, you will feel resistance. You will feel like what in the world is going on, you will feel like why I got to go through all of this just to be changed, right? But I want you to know James 4 and 7 states, submit yourselves to then. Submit yourselves then to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Amen. I'm so sorry I had to interrupt. My dog came in the room. But back to reading, resistance doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. It often means you're finally doing something right. The enemy will try to keep you tied to old relationships, old habits, old versions of yourself. Because if he can keep you connected to your past, he can delay for your future. But every time I felt that pull, I prayed. And I prayed even harder. Every time I felt hurt, every time I felt pain, every time confusion would come into the atmosphere, I leaned into God even more because I didn't want to fall victim to self-sabotage anymore. I didn't want to fall victim to frustration and stress and worry and the wise. You know what I'm saying? I truly surrendered to God. And the biggest thing was breaking soul ties. And like I said before, being tied to someone spiritually, it breaks you. It breaks you differently than being with someone for years, and then it just doesn't work out, right? Breaking soul ties isn't just about cutting people off, it's deeper than that. It's about releasing emotional dependency, releasing unhealthy attachments, releasing toxic cycles, releasing false expectations, releasing anything that is holding you to what should not be in your life, and even the ideal of what you thought something could be. Because sometimes you're not holding on to the person, you're holding on to the potential, and God is saying, let go. Isaiah 43, 18 and 19 states, forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Amen. You can't receive what's new if you're still clinging to what's old. This is why when we leave relationships, we have to leave the relationship. We can't keep thinking about it. We can't try to make it work. We just have to let go and let God have his way. And here's the simple truth: you cannot fully align with God while staying emotionally connected to what he's trying to remove. Think about that for one moment. While staying emotionally connected to what he's trying to remove, we got to be in alignment with God, right? Because every time God tries to elevate us, those old ties will try to pour right back in and say, Come back. I'm here. You know how them late night calls come, or you're having that lonely season, and then all of a sudden that person uncovered you, you ain't talked to in months, sometimes years. I'm like, oh, what you're doing? Because they're trying to pull their self back in from your past so they can continue to delay your future. But this is the thing we're going to have to learn how to choose God or what's familiar, growth or comfort, healing or attachment, right? Take a moment and really ask yourself what am I holding on to that God told me to release? Who am I emotionally tied to that is no longer aligned to my purpose and my growth? What patterns keep repeating in my life over and over and over again? And ask yourself, am I choosing peace or just choosing what feels familiar to me? And you have to be honest because healing requires truth, and truth leads to freedom, freedom. John 8 and 32 states, then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Amen. When I started letting go, God started filling those spaces with peace, with clarity, and with purpose. Philippians 4 and 7 states, the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, will give you peace, will guard your hearts, and will show you the love of God in all in all. Amen. I extended that scripture. My mindset changed, my circle changed, my spirit became more sensitive to what God was saying, and I stopped focusing on what I seen. I stopped forcing things that shouldn't have been forced, that God never intended for me to keep. I stopped wanting temporary things and started desiring eternal alignment. I wanted to be a better woman. I wanted to be a better servant, a better future wife, a better reflection of Jesus Christ. Amen. Romans 12 and 2 tells us do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Amen. Because this isn't just about who we're connected to, it's about who we're becoming. And here's a simple truth. You can't ask God for a healthy, God-centered relationship while still tied to unhealthy ones. If you want a praying spouse, a faithful spouse, a spiritually aligned marriage, you have to become that first and let go. Matthew 6 and 33 states, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Amen. Mark 9 and 23 tells us, All things are possible to him that believeth. Amen. But the man also said, Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief. And that is so real. I have cried out of many days and said, God, please help my unbelief. Sometimes it's hard trusting God, but we have to trust God and trying times, right? While still struggling, we have to let go and trust in God. And that's okay when we're in struggles because as long as we still praise the Lord and we continue to make Him the head and we continue to put it at the altar, everything's gonna be okay. Because faith doesn't mean we don't struggle, it means we keep choosing God every day, every second, and every minute. I want to encourage you real quick before we pray. God is not trying to take something from you, as I said before. He's trying to free you, he's trying to set you up with your future. What he removes is often what was limiting you. What he breaks is often what was binding you. Psalms 34 and 18 states, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. Amen. So even in the letting go, you're not alone. Amen. Let us go to the Lord in prayer. Holy Father, we thank you for loving us enough to not be on our own, Henry Father. Henry Father, you walk with us each and every day, and you let us know that we will not remain the same, that you will make us better. Honey Father, we ask you right now to break every unhealthy attachment in our lives, oh God. Every soul tie that's not aligned with you. Remove it, oh God, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Give us the strength to let go, even when it hurts, even when it's uncomfortable. Search our hearts, oh God, and reveal anything in us that is not like you, oh God. Remove confusion from our hearts, remove doubt from my heart, remove fear from our hearts, and fill our hearts up with love, oh God, so we can accept and see the person that you have for us, oh God. Replace all of our confusion with peace, clarity, and purpose. Help us to stop choosing what feels comfortable and familiar, and help us start choosing what is right and ordained from you, oh God. Align our minds, our hearts, and our spirits with you, oh God, because we want to be first in line with you, meaning we seek you first before anything else, like your word said in scripture. We are looking for you, oh God, to complete us. We are looking for you, oh God, to make us whole. And Hunter Father, we ask you to prepare us for the life that you have for us, for the love that you have for us, for the person that was ordained for us from the beginning of time, oh God. Prepare us to accept what you have for us. In your darling son, Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen. And before we close out, I'm asking God to remove the limitations offer your prayers. I'm praying that you pray to the heavens as if it's gonna happen as soon as you say amen. Do it through trusting God, believing in God, and having faith in God. He said, All you need is the faith the size of a mustard seed, and he can do work with that. So I'm telling you to trust the process, even when it hurts, even when it's uncomfortable, even when it feels like you're losing out on something. Trust in God because you're not losing anything. You are being released and you are a winner. And on the other side of letting go is the life God has been trying to give to you over and over again. Amen. I hope you all have a blessed evening. I hope you all have a peaceful sleep. I pray that God sends his angels to watch over you as you lay down and may his hand of grace and mercy cover our homes, our heart, mass, souls, and spirit throughout the night. Until the next episode, thank you for tuning in to praying for them, your God fearing spouse.
