Good evening and welcome back to Praying for Them, Your God, Friend Spouse. I'm so glad you all are here today. I want you to know this is a space where we grow in faith. We learn how to surrender and prepare ourselves for the love and the life that God has called us to. Amen. I don't believe you're here by accident. I hope you enjoy each chapter that we read. I hope you can get into the devotionals. And I just want you to open your heart to possibilities. Amen. I'm going to do this podcast a little different now. I'm going to start reading the whole chapter in its entirety. And then we'll do devotionals throughout the week to discuss what this chapter is actually talking about. So today we're going to read chapter three. Uh, and that chapter is prayer of surrender. And then once we read this chapter, I'm going to talk about what it means to surrender. Amen. But before we start, I would like to go to the Lord in prayer. How Father, we thank you for this evening. We thank you so much for being in our presence this evening. How Father, we pray that you open up our hearts to receive what thus death the Lord. Open up our ears to hear what thus death the Lord. We pray that you fill this atmosphere right now, this moment with your presence, with your word, and with your confidence. Help us to learn how to surrender to our God-fearing spouse that is on the way or we might already have them, oh God. Teach us how to keep you on the throne first, oh God, and that we surrender to you the right way. So we can surrender to our husband the right way as well, or our wife the right way. I pray that whatever we're doing that is keeping us going 10 steps back, show it to us, oh God, so we can start taking 10 steps forward. Lord, just clear our minds, our hearts, and our spirits as we read chapter 3, prayer of surrender. Amen. Amen. Prayer of surrender. Job 11, 13 through 15 states, surrender your heart to God. Turn to Him in prayer and give up your sins, even those you do in secret. Then you won't be ashamed. You will be confident and fearless. Amen. I wrote this prayer back in the day. And it says, How do I surrender, God? How do we surrender to you as a married, God-fearing couple? God, I come before your throne asking you to teach us, oh God, how to surrender the right way. Teach us how to study your word and prepare us for what is to come. Teach us how to pray, teach, and fast the right way. In the name of Jesus, teach us to surrender our sins, our secrets, our fears, and our doubts to you. Show us how to surrender our finances, our children, our choices, our thoughts, our decisions, and every area of our lives to you, O God, and only you. God, here I am. I surrender my mind, heart, body, soul, and spirit in its entirety to you, O God. Heavenly Father, I surrender my life, our children, the roles that I play in life, my job, my home, my career, my family, my friends, and my car, even. God, I genuinely do surrender all. Take everything that I have that is not like you from within me and from around me. Patrol the way that I pray, fast, think, talk, walk, and live. God, I stretch my hands to you, my Father. I'm pleading and crying out at the feet of the Most Holy One, and that is you, O God. I know I am not perfect. I know I've had my share of mistakes, but I'm asking you to help my unbelief when it comes to my life. What am I doing so wrong that I keep falling ten steps back? God, I promise you, if you leave me, I will go. If you tell me what to say, I will say it. God, I am yours. Please help me to surrender to you. Amen. It's hard surrendering to the will of God, especially when you have no clue of what's to come. That's when God calls for your faith to come into play stronger than ever, releasing fear, doubt, worries, and confusion to the Lord and not taking things on yourself. Opening your heart to accept and submit to the will of God can fully and honestly be a fantastic experience and making you whole in the Lord. You will feel brand new. God will start to do some amazing things in your life when you surrender. He will bring people into your life to help you, to groom you, to mentor you, and to love you for the person you really are. When I realized I must be doing something wrong in my life because of all the crazy seasons that I was experiencing, I stood in the corner of my bedroom. Yes, I stood in the corner of my bedroom, and I told my Savior, God, you see this tug of war robe, I lay it down. I surrendered. I knew it was time for a change because I found myself standing in any corner in my house in frustration, doubt, and fear, crying out to God. It didn't matter which corner when I ran out of words. I would just get up and walk straight into a corner and throw my hands up. I found myself living in an uncomfortable situation in an angry world. I wanted God to help me to feel better, to be more comfortable within myself, and to relate to Him more. I wanted to understand what was going on in my life and what he had in store for my life. I tried living life, but I didn't know how to truly live the life God had for me. I was too busy trying to be in control in a lost world with no GPS to guide me. You're probably thinking, why in the world would she be standing in the corner crying out to God? My motto is if Hezekiah can face the wall and God granted him 15 more years, then I could stand in that same corner like Hezekiah, cry out to God to deliver me and to direct my path. I have faith that he would because he did it for Hezekiah in Isaiah 38, 1 through 7. And it states, About this time Hezekiah got sick and was almost dead. So I went in and told him, the Lord says, You won't ever get well. You are going to die. And so he had better start doing what needs to be done. Hezekiah turned toward the wall and prayed, Don't forget that I have been faithful to you, Lord. I have obeyed you with all of my heart, and I do whatever you say is right. Amen. After this, he cried hard. Then the Lord sent me this message for Hezekiah. I am the Lord God who has worshipped by your and who was worshipped by your ancestor David. I heard you pray and I saw you cry. I will let you live 15 years more while I protect you and your city from the king of Assyria. Now I will prove to you that I will keep my promise. I'm a firm believer. If God can do it for Hezekiah, Moses, Abraham, Sarah, Noah, Martha, and Mary, and so many others in the Bible, then he can do it for me too. And not just for me, but for you too. The more I prayed, the more I stood in those corners, praying for God to give me direction, praying he will allow me to see my future spouse. Praying that he would deliver me from my trials and tribulations. I would pray for God to take over my life because I knew I was not perfect. And I didn't know how to get from a lazy mentality to a working mentality. I knew that I had a hidden sin that needed to be addressed. I knew that my soul was crying out for deliverance and I was ready for God to cleanse me and purify me. The more I surrendered, the more I prayed, the more I fast, the more I was delivered. God started turning things around in my favor. Everything began to flow much smoother and became more aligned toward the will of God in my life. I had to show God that I could be submissive while being obedient to Him before people. God indeed opened my eyes to my brokenness along the way, my hurt, my sins, my lack of days, my procrastination, and to the vision he had for me. God had to show me that I was not living the way he had called me to live. I was running from my purpose, my calling, my destiny, and so much more. God is good and his mercy endured to a whole generation. I connected to God, I saw God, and I honestly started living for God along this journey. Once I surrendered, he taught me how to be a wife and not just a placeholder, showing me how to connect with my husband mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, teaching me to be a helper and not a hindrance. God made me realize once I surrendered to his will and to his way, that he will block any and everything in my path that was not leading me toward him and my future husband. God told me that my husband would not come until I changed some of my ways. My future husband was praying for me from the depths of his soul. I could feel it. And I still feel that. And he needed a God-fearing spouse, and I believe that to this day to support him in his ministries, in his business deals, in his adventures, and in his life. When I prayed this prayer of surrender at the beginning of this chapter, it made me fear the Lord in such a way. I told a friend, as fearful as I wanted to be, that my husband had to hold me accountable to God. That I could not be with anyone that would not hold me accountable to God. I don't need a yes husband. I need a husband that's going to hold me accountable to the will of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I mean, I was on repeat for a good minute because when God shows you a glimpse of what your life could be, like if only you would trust and surrender to him, you will start changing for the vision and for the better in your life. Surrendering to God will knock you off your feet. You will be able to bask in his glory, and it will genuinely make you fear the Lord. When I surrendered, God placed in my soul that my husband was a man of integrity, a man of love, man of honor, a man after God's own heart, and a man with a servitude mentality. Ask yourself these questions and write down a prayer for surrendering to the Lord. Have I honestly given everything over to God that I normally control? Do I fear the Lord? Have I truly repented and given my existence over to Jesus Christ? Do I follow Christ with a servitude mentality? Am I putting my faith in God or myself? Who do I love the most? It's time to evaluate your level of surrender to God. You cannot grant him access to your friend yard, but won't let him into your home. Into your home. God is not trying to take care of your yard. He is trying to take care of your home. If God cannot come within you and explod a purification season within your internal home, meaning purifying your heart, mind, soul, and spirit, then how in the world can you surrender to the one who made you? Amen. To the one who gave his only begotten son so that you can get another chance of living. Surrender to God and watch how your life would change in a magnificent way. You cannot surrender to your spouse and be truthful with your spouse. If you cannot surrender everything to the creator that made you, me, the birds, and the trees, it's time to surrender to Christ. So you may surrender to your spouse. Amen. That is the reading of chapter 3. And one topic that I learned through this, and I want you to learn as well, is what does it mean to surrender? Amen. We need to understand it's a simple question. What does it mean to surrender? You have to have confidence, you have to be fearless, and you have to be free from shame. That's what surrender produces, right? But here's the truth. Most of us don't struggle with wanting to surrender. We struggle with actually letting go. Because surrender means release and control, and control feels safe. We want to know what's next. We want to understand the plan. We want to make sure everything works out the way we expect it to. But surrender says, God, even if I don't understand, I trust you. And that feels hard. Because real surrender isn't just about what people can see, it's about the parts of you that nobody else knows about. Your thoughts, your habits, your fears, your hidden struggles, the things you've learned to manage instead of release. I remember asking God, teach me how to surrender the right way, as we just read. Not halfway, not when it's convenient, but fully. I asked Him to show me how to surrender my mind, my decisions, my fears, my future, even the things I didn't want to let go of. And what I realized is this surrender is not a one-time moment, it's a daily decision. Amen. Sometimes it's a moment-by-moment decision because life will constantly give you opportunities to take control back, to overthink, to doubt, to fear, to act before praying. But surrender calls you to pause and give it back to God. Amen. Here's something that changed my perspective. You can't ask God to lead your life and still hold onto everything tightly. At some point, you have to loosen your grip. You have to trust that God sees what you don't see, that he understands what you don't understand, and that he's working even when you don't feel it. And let me say this: surrender is not weakness. It takes strength to say, God, I don't have all the answers. God, I can't fix this on my own. God, I need you. That's not weakness, that's dependency on the one who created you. Amen. So today I want you to reflect this evening on this. What are you still holding on to? What area of your life have you not fully given to God? Is it your future, your relationships, your habits, your fears? Because partial surrender will always lead to partial peace. But when you fully surrender to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that's when transformation begins. And listen, you don't have to have the perfect words, you don't have to have everything figured out. All God is asking for is your heart. Amen. Let us go to the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father, oh God, oh God, how excellent is your name. Every person listening right now, you know exactly where they are and what they're holding on to. God, teach them how to surrender to you fully. Give them the strength to release control and fear from fear and doubt. Help them trust you, oh God, even when they don't understand what you're doing, oh God. Purify their heart, their mind, their soul, and their spirit, oh God. And Holy Father, I pray for their future spouse and the spouse they might currently have today. Prepare them both, Henny Father. Strengthen them, draw them closer to you, oh God, that they can come together and they can be rooted in you for eternity. Let their love be built on faith, trust, obedience, and purpose, Henry Father. God, we trust you. We surrender to you. All in your name we pray. Amen. Thank you for tuning in to I praying for your husband, praying for your God, friends. Thank you for tuning in. Um, we're gonna do this on Mondays and Fridays. So Friday come back. We're gonna talk about letting go of control. That is what's um we're talking about in this chapter as well, chapter three. I hope you all have a blessed week. I hope it's an amazing week, and I hope you all smile and rejoice and know that you have the best spouse in your life. Until Friday, have a blessed day.
