Hey, welcome back to Praying for Them, your God, Friend, Spouse. Take a moment to settle in and let's continue this journey of surrender together. As you all know, let this past Monday we read all of chapter three. And the next several episodes is going to talk about what we learned from that chapter. Amen. I'm going to open up with prayer and then we're going to talk about letting go of control. Amen. Let us go to the Lord in prayer. God, in the name of Jesus, hallelujah. We thank you, oh God. Thank you for another moment to come before you. God, we ask that you quiet our minds and calm our hearts right now. Remove anything that is distracting us from hearing you clearly in this moment. Honey Father, we invite you into this podcast right now, and I pray. Help us to be honest with ourselves and open to what you want to reveal, Honey Father. Teach us how to release control and truly trust you, oh God. And God, we lift up our future spouse and our current spouses to you, Honey Father. Whatever they are, whatever they may be doing right now, continue to guide them, protect them, and grow them with your grace, love, mercy, and favor, Honey Father. Align our hearts with your will. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Today we're talking about something that sits at the center of surrender, and that's control. We all want it. We want plans, we want clarity, we want things to go the way we expect. And when they don't, we feel anxious, we have anxiety, we feel overwhelmed, and sometimes even frustrated. But here's the truth: you can't fully trust God and still try to control everything. Control is often rooted in fear, fear of the unknown, fear of disappointment, fear of things not working out. But surrender says, God, even if it doesn't look like I expected, I trust you. Let me ask you something. What are you trying to control right now? Your future? Your relationship? Your healing or your finances? Have you truly given it over to God? Have you laid it at His feet? Are you still holding on to it just in case you can make it work out? Because revisiting something with worry every day is not surrender. It's stress with a prayer attached to it. Real surrender sounds like this God, I give this to you, and I trust you enough not to pick it back up. And yes, it's a process. You may have to release it again and again, but every time you do, you grow stronger in your faith and you grow stronger and trusting in the Lord. God isn't trying to take from you, He's trying to give you something better. But you have to open your hands to receive it, amen. You have to trust and believe that God is trying to give you an abundant life, a prosperous life, a life filled with his love, amen. God wants to cover us through his word, amen. He wants us to be able to feel his presence, feel his promises, and know his promises. You know, when we read this chapter, it learned it tells us how to truly surrender to God and truly let go of self. Amen. We have to learn how to let God be the head of our life, let him be the head of our future because we can't change anything, right? You know, in the last episode, there were several questions that um I asked you all. And one of those questions was, have I auntie give everything over to God that I normally control? And I want you to know when I wrote that question, I truly had not given everything over to God. I had was holding on to so much baggage, so much control, hold on to finances and thoughts because I just felt like I could change everything. I felt like, you know, okay, God, I'm gonna pray and give it to you, but I ain't gonna let it go because I think I can make this work. But when I truly said, God, I can't do this no more. I I don't trust myself anymore. And I surrender all. I know that you can make a way out of nowhere. I know you will make our paths align in your timing. I know that if I truly surrender to you, you will allow me to see what you're doing in my life. So I'm telling you, if you ask yourself that question in the last episode, have I honestly given everything over to God that I normally control? It's a process to relinquish control, it's a process to surrender to God, it's a process to change your ways, amen. So you just have to learn how to write down what am I still trying to control? What am I having a problem releasing control over? And when you can write these things down, you can take it to God in prayer. I'm like, okay, God, I need to surrender. I'm holding on to this stuff, it's weighing me down, nothing's changing. So, God, I asked you to take this thing from me. Are these things? Amen. The second question I asked you all was, do I fear the Lord? That comes with time. It's not saying, Oh my god, I fear the Lord, where I feel like I'm gonna go outside, he strikes me down. It says I fear the Lord because I believe he is my father, I believe he is the creator and I believe his word, I believe in his word. So if his word is true and we serve a God who never fails, we serve a God who cannot break promises. So if I know he says redemption is mine, if I know he says I have a husband on the way, I know if he says to follow my ten commandments, I must believe, I must hold on to hope, I must have faith that God's doing it, and I must truly fear him and surrender to his will in his way. Because I want God to align our thoughts to his thoughts and our ways to his ways and our thinking to his thinking, amen. So we need to get to a point where we engage God at all times because we don't want to make a move without consulting him, we don't want to make a decision without talking to him, amen. So it's about truly making him the head of your life. And I know we also talked about how I truly repented and given my existence over to Christ. Let me tell you, it's very hard to repent. I repent almost every day because we all fall short of his glory. You know what I'm saying? Ain't nobody perfect. We all have to repent, we all have to surrender because the Bible says that we are his temple, that our life don't belong to us, it belongs to him. So we have to learn how to surrender our existence, surrender our life to him, amen. We have to repent and ask God to forgive us when we've been disobedient, forgive us when we don't listen to his will and his way. Um, asking for forgiveness when we know that we have sinned, and even when we don't even know that we're sinning, right? So I need you to truly just sit down and study the meaning of being in God's presence and repenting for your sins and repenting for your wrongdoings and repenting for not following the call that God has of your life, amen. And then the other question I asked was do I follow Christ with a servitude mentality? We can follow Christ every day, every second, every hour, but that doesn't mean we want to serve people. You know, some Christians want to be served but not want to serve, amen. But Jesus said, I came not to be served, I came to serve, amen. And that is the kind of servitude mentality that we need to have, that we can truly serve in our home, serve on our jobs, serve in the church, serve in whatever ministry that we're tied to, amen. We have to be able to serve the community, we have to be able to serve when no one else is serving. You can serve with your time, you can serve with your finances, you can serve with your gifts and your talents, you can serve any way the Lord places on your heart, amen. We have to learn how to be a follower of Jesus Christ and truly serving Him in spirit and in truth, amen. And then the other question I asked you all was Am I putting my faith in God or myself? Amen. This goes all to control. I believe God can do all things but fail. I believe that God could turn things around. I believe that God can make us better for our spouses. I believe that God makes our spouses better for us. I believe that God is in the middle of our relationships, right? So we have to trust in God and not ourselves. You know, we try to control who we're going to be with. You know, we got our whole blueprint of what our spouse is gonna look like, right? And how they're gonna act and how they're gonna respond. But then God turns around and shows us that he is in control. So we have to learn how to put our faith in God and not ourselves. We have to trust and believe in God, amen. And also the last question I asked you while was who do I love the most? I love my family, I love my children, I love my future spouse, I love my church family. I mean, I love everybody, but I love God the most, amen. I love serving him, I love praying to him, I love relinquishing control to him. I love God the most because he's my father, he's my provider, he's my protector, he is the reason why I breathe, he's the reason why I sing. We have to learn how to surrender to our God because we can't do nothing on our own. We need God every step of the way. And if you are married or wanting to be married, you have to keep God at the center. You have to keep God the anchor in your relationship, you have to let God be the anchor of your soul, amen. You have to fully surrender to God, and I promise you that you will see your life play out like a movie, right? Before your very eyes. When you trust in God and you surrender to Him, your life will change in a magnificent way. You cannot surrender to your spouse and be truthful with your spouse. Like I said in the book, if you cannot surrender everything to the creator that made you, amen. He made everything, and I thank God for creating this world. I thank God for creating you, amen. So I thank you all for tuning in. I'm gonna pray out like always, and then until Monday, I'm so excited. We'll we will talk again. And on Monday, we will be talking about I had to catch my breath. We will be talking about surrendering your secret places. Sorry, I had to take that pause for a second, but yes, next week we will be talking about surrendering your secret places, amen. So I want us to go to the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank you for this moment. God, we release control to you right now. Every worry, every fear, every plan, we place it in your hands, oh God. Teach us how to trust you fully and not lean to our own understanding. Give us peace in the waiting seasons. Give us peace when we don't know which way to go. Heavenly Father, give us confidence in your timing. And God, we lift up our future spouse and our current spouses to you right now, oh God. Continue to prepare them, strengthen them, and draw them closer to you. Let them be growing in obedience and faith just as we are, oh God. Help us to be aligned and equipped, both of us, to do your will and to be drawn into doing your will, Honey Father. God, we trust you with everything. We believe in you, we hold you tightly in our arms, honey Father, and we never want to let go of you. We thank you, God, for every single thing. We thank you, oh God, for your love, your prosperity, your healing, your grace, your mercy, and your favor. God, we thank you for choosing us, and we thank you, especially thank you for choosing our spouse. Amen. Thank you all for tuning in. We welcome you back to praying for them, your Godfrear and spouse, on Monday, where we will continue this journey of learning how to pray for our spouses and also praying over ourselves. Amen. Thank you all for tuning in. Have a wonderful weekend.
