Sometimes a little something like a drink and/or other legal substance can help break the ice-but knowing when to stop is what really sets the tone.
This week we're chatting about substance control at lifestyle events, finding your sweet spot, and why responsible fun is always the sexiest choice.
Hey guys, and welcome back to our modernly faithful Real Couples Real Chemistry podcast. We're excited that you're here, and we are excited that you are tuning in, whether you're driving, chilling, working, taking a test, or any other masturbating. Oh, that would be a weird conversation to have while you're masturbating, but to each their own, keep on going. You got this?
SPEAKER_04Give a tug for me.
SPEAKER_06Yes. We are excited that you're here joining us for this fun and very deep conversation today. My name is Rich, and here with me in the table talk, we've got Ms. G. Hi everyone. We've also got our spouses uh from across the pond. Oh, table.
SPEAKER_01Hello, everybody.
SPEAKER_06Hello, hello. Oh, you didn't say your name?
SPEAKER_04That was my British.
SPEAKER_01Hi, everybody. We do.
SPEAKER_04Oh, this is Johnny and Amanda.
SPEAKER_06Sorry guys.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, my mind just went blank.
SPEAKER_06I forgot my own name. Uh but today we wanted to talk about one of those silent. We're gonna talk about an SBD.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01We just started you guys and we were cracking up already.
SPEAKER_06We're gonna we're gonna talk about an SBD, guys. It's we don't usually talk about it, but today we're gonna mention the unmentionable SBDs.
SPEAKER_01What does that mean, Richard? Please explain to the viewers. Silent pedadily.
SPEAKER_06Silent pedadily killers in the lifestyle, substance abuse. We're gonna talk about substance abuse and or about substance control. Control is the right. Um, because ultimately I think it's kind of like our go-to so many times. Our nerves are a little on edge. We want to kind of mellow out, we wanna, we wanna chill out, we want something that's gonna help us feel a little bit more relaxed, break the ice. And what do we do? More often than not, we revert to some sort of substance to help us take a take the edge off a little bit, whether it be alcohol, whether it be gummies, I'm not gonna mention any names, whether it be sorry. That's us, whether it be any other type of substance abuse that hopefully gets you out of your shell a little bit.
SPEAKER_02And to abuse it though.
SPEAKER_06Right. That you know, it it helps, it maybe helps you get out of your shell so that you can actually have these real conversations with potential connections within an event, a party, a situation. But what we sometimes fail to acknowledge is that it also creates an altered version of ourselves that may not always have the best foot forward when it comes to that real connection and that real chemistry that we're ultimately looking to obtain. Like, I know for a fact our spouses have this thing like who's the more fun one? Who's the more fun? Or in their language, who's funner? Who's funner?
SPEAKER_01Funner's not a word. That's me. I'm the fun one, guys.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. And the reality is that they're both boring as all heck. Whatever. The only reason why at times they become fun is because they're under the influence of alcohol. There, I said it loud and clear. If without they might as well be a tax collector and a librarian because they are the most boring humans on the face of the planet. Sorry, someone had to say it, and it was me.
SPEAKER_03Prove me wrong.
SPEAKER_01Say something.
SPEAKER_03I'm the fun one. What are you going to say?
SPEAKER_01Do we have to bring out the exhibit Hart from when I was gone?
SPEAKER_03Anyways.
SPEAKER_01And Richard and Gabby's like, oh, he misses you. This is not Johnny. I mean, this is John.
SPEAKER_06John. John. It's because of the tax collector. So totally it's totally valid to feel like we need a little something to help us get comfortable, feel comfortable, feel like we're ready to have these conversations about boundaries or uh do's, don'ts, willingness, not willingness, et cetera, et cetera. But at the same time, we become vulnerable to potentially not being completely coherent to make the right decisions for ourselves, for our relationship, for even the potential connection that we might have. Because maybe our response won't be at 100%. I'm going to talk to you guys about a situation. My our spouses, they were they were into a sex club I was working at at the time. They slept with the female who vomited all over them.
SPEAKER_01No, we didn't. No, we didn't.
SPEAKER_04She's right. There was no uh playtime.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she was too intoxicated. We were gonna do that. They were about to.
SPEAKER_04And she was lactating. What?
SPEAKER_01She was lactating. She just had a baby.
SPEAKER_04That's when uh what mothers produced milk out of there. Um and she But she won't well, she had some drinks and she was at the club, and you know, but we did not participate. Ew.
SPEAKER_06Well, I mean, sometimes that's kind of sexy animal, but I still feel like the vomit situation is a no-go. And I again, we had a situation recently at one of our events where we can tell that the gentleman arrived already pretty intoxicated to the party. And so we have to decide, there has to be a fine line where we decide, hey, um, maybe you're a little too intoxicated to come into the party today. Like we can put people at risk because ultimately, you know, it could potentially cause problems, not to mention any potential damage or cleanup that needs to happen to the property that's being utilized. But it really does become a problem when there's no awareness at for your state of for your state of intoxication, right? So it's just one of those things that we need to really learn to understand so that we we have a better process to approaching situations like that for not only like members as they come down to different parties, but also for yourself as a couple as in a relationship. You know, what are some good type of conversations? See, we've seen it way too many too often where the maybe one of the partners in the relationship can identify, uh-oh, we're going down the wrong path. Something is not gonna work, but that person has zero control over the situation. It's either gonna turn into a fight or it's gonna end up bad. And what are ways that we can prevent situations to getting to that point? What is something that we can do to say, okay, as it really in a couple, like if I can see Gabby losing her, losing her decorum, losing her mental capacity to make wise decisions, what is the proper protocol for you as a couple to prevent any bad situations? I know. Let's say, for example, we exit out. I I'm telling you, okay, it's time to go, but now you don't want to go. And it's turning into a problem.
SPEAKER_04That would call for a bathroom meeting immediately. And um we would take it from there.
SPEAKER_01But what if she's too intoxicated to do a bathroom meeting? And then what now?
SPEAKER_04Um, if we're getting to that point, it is uh exit immediately situation. Because we don't wanna we don't want to embarrass ourselves. We don't want to, you know, like look like I I don't know like that. That's a bad like look, you know. If I if you could tell like that you're so far gone that you can't even like, you know, be coherent or or walk straight, you know, then then I think we're hey, yep, we're good. Let's get out of here, you know. But I think in that same sense, like we'll say, hey, you know, if I know that you're that kind of person, hey, I'm gonna say, hey, you know what? Two drinks and that's a wrap. You know what I mean? Or we'll have that kind of have that talk beforehand. Because I mean, before going to something like that, you should kind of know your partner and know if if you if she's a lush, then you need to know right. So are we gonna how are we gonna be in the situation? Now I know you go to the bar and you get faded, faded, faded. We're gonna say, all right, two drinks. Two drink maximum, you mean?
SPEAKER_01Hell yeah, I do. And that's when she becomes the fun one.
SPEAKER_04No, I I'm the fun one, but so don't get put out the drawing board again. The drawing board?
SPEAKER_01I got I got proof, a text messages that he's I'm the fun one.
SPEAKER_04Guys, I was sick one time and she's really taken to the bank.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was sick of missing me.
SPEAKER_06But I definitely think it's it's worth having a plan, an exit strategy in the event that something like that is going on and you see it happen. First and foremost, the last thing you want to do is embarrass yourself in front of other people in the lifestyle. If you're at a social event, if you're at a social party, does it happen? Sure. Could you have some too much to drink and then not realize how to, you know, stop yourself? Or oh, when do you realize you've had in you've had too much? Like at some point, I want to say, okay, I'm gonna be honest, I've never been that drunk. But my assumption is that the people who are that drunk fail to acknowledge that they're getting there.
SPEAKER_02Because it at least it feels like they're failing to I mean, I can only speak for myself, but I have been there before, like because you're a lush. But but knowing that now, like I'm like, okay, once I start feeling like I'm feeling sick, I don't want no more. You know what I mean? Or I'll stop, or I've known how to control myself too.
SPEAKER_06That's the thing though. How do you know you're feeling sick until it's too late?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think there's different stages of getting sick, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Wifey. I I've been in those stages before.
SPEAKER_04We know.
SPEAKER_01Um, I guess it's just really hard because when you're intoxicated, you don't know if you're gonna like feel sick. Well, I I know I I was trying to feel sick. It's when you just I don't know, you just feel something like in your throat.
SPEAKER_03And watch out, guys. All the all this science we're getting right now.
SPEAKER_01And then you feel like you've got to for me, I feel like I'm if I'm gagging, I'm about to throw up. That's how I know that I'm about to be sick.
SPEAKER_06I I don't know that we were looking for the physical emo. I think we're trying to figure out the emotional response to preventing you from feeling a little grumbly in your tummy.
SPEAKER_04Well, guys, when the room spins and I get dizzy, I have to go up sometimes.
SPEAKER_02And that's the time to exit. Let's go.
SPEAKER_06Oh mio man.
SPEAKER_02The room's spinning, let's go.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I ultimately I think I'm trying to go back to, I hate the word trying by the way. I'm looking to go back to this scenario where we had this couple and clearly they were upset at each other because she was trying to get him to stop, he wouldn't. And it resulted to him being super sick and them having to leave. But but at the end of the day, I think that if we created such a an open method of communication between one another, and we allowed ourselves the opportunity to say, hey, how do we, if this happens, then how do we proceed? How do we move forward from a situation like this to avoid any potential backlash issues, or maybe even risking not being able to come back to the event, right? Because when you're that level of intoxication, everything you've learned about the lifestyle, everything you've learned about consent, uh, the list goes on and on. You may just forget because you're too busy being, I don't know, Superman or uh Wonder Woman, you know, depending on where what stage of your intoxication you might be. Like, I remember recently too, we I think we gave a ride to a couple who was pretty intoxicated. I all I remember is cleaning cupcake from my floor for um several days. I'm not gonna mention any names.
SPEAKER_01That wasn't us.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god. You didn't mention any names. Jeez. We didn't say who it was. Amanda. Um, but the reality is that, you know, when we failed to measure our level of, you know, intoxication, we could potentially put ourselves, our us as a couple, at risk from be breaking our boundaries, from breaking somebody else's boundaries. You know, maybe they told us these are our boundaries, but if I'm that far gone, am I gonna remember that you said we're not gonna make out, or that you say not not through there.
SPEAKER_01Not through there.
SPEAKER_06We the double cave. You know, those things are important. I think we all need to take, you know, individual accountability, but also specifically because we are a couples-only community, accountability as a couple on how we're gonna keep each other safe as well as keep everybody around us safe, that you know, whether Gabby goes into beast mode or not, that I need to tame the beast and keep the bait the beast controlled. And same thing with Armanda, if Amanda decides to leave us and we welcome Armando, how do we how do how many men is it gonna take to restrain Armando from the savage wrath that it can create?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I can see that. It'll be a lot. It will be a lot because I I could put the switch anytime I can. Much more intoxicated, definitely.
SPEAKER_06The good news is the the more comfortable you get with your people, the more you're aware of their level of beast mode. You know, like I know for a fact, you know, in our personal situation with Gabby, it's happy, happy, joy, joy, and then it's complete and utter misery. Like she's sick, unhappy, unwell, ready to go to bed, the night is over, it's over. If that ever, if it ever gets to that degree. Um with our mondo, you know, obviously we've at this point, if our mondo's here is because Amanda's left the building. Um, but with our mondo, it doesn't really end. We've gone, we've figured out how it just goes, goes until it goes no more, and then it's just ready for bedtime. It there is no happy medium, it goes from zero to a hundred in the opposite direction, which is like, I'm out. Thanks, goodbye, leave.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06With our husband, um, once the level of intoxication reaches its highest peak, he turns into a supermodel, and just we all we have to do is hide all the mirrors in the room because he forgets about every human being that's in there, any sign of his reflection, then it's over. He'll just be stuck there for the next 10 seconds, just admiring his beauty from head to toe. And all of I think he's I think he's yeah, I think he sees muscles that aren't actually there, but in his in the reflection, they must seem pretty intense. Cause I'm like, is he really? Oh, yep. Yep, and that's actually a great way for us to get him to move because like we just have to have a moving mirror.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, also because I just pick the mirror and just and he just follows it.
SPEAKER_06It's like, oh hello, come back here. Come back here, you stud muffin, you hey, that's not a bad intoxication. That's because I'm never that drunk.
SPEAKER_04There was one time you were I think Richard gets like, he's like you always like super happy, like, yeah. Yeah. I look like that.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna shoot myself right now.
SPEAKER_01No, I Richard, no, you are like a happy, happy drunk. I never seen you like, you know, down, down zero, but you're always up here. Down zero. You always up here.
SPEAKER_06Oh, I've been down zero.
SPEAKER_01He's always up here, but I've never seen you, you know, on that toxic level. I always seen you upstairs.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I've never been, I've never really I have an issue with control, guys. I'm gonna say it right here, right now. Oh, we know that. And um, I need to always be in control to keep everybody safe, at least in my mind. That's the reason. Uh, and so I feel like if everybody's lost their sanity, then how in the world are we getting back?
SPEAKER_04So somebody's gotta get us back. I I think actually, like our members for the most part, with like like substance and alcohol, they handle it pretty well. We've only had a few occasions, otherwise.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, for sure. I wouldn't I wouldn't say that we've had any any really bad situations, but because I used to manage a lifestyle club, I've seen it happen where people, you know, at the beginning are super coherent, like they've got a plan, they've got their boundaries, they they understand all you see them transition, yeah. And then all of a sudden you're like, hello, you're hanging from the chandelier, but naked. Do you know where your husband or wife is? Let's just do gummies.
SPEAKER_01No, but you don't have to worry about throwing up it is safer.
SPEAKER_06We're we're not and this is not sponsored by the gummy companies. Um but we're willing to try if you're open to it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's safer. You don't have to worry about getting sick, you don't have to worry about um puking anywhere.
SPEAKER_06True.
SPEAKER_01So, and you're happy all the time.
SPEAKER_06I suppose maybe, and we don't know enough. Could you potentially get intoxicated on something like gummies where you're at that point, or does that just not happen? I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because we know I don't want to find out.
SPEAKER_06I would not want to find out either. But you know, I it is interesting because I do I can I can agree with my um twin in this situation because I feel like gummies gives you a different type of an intoxication where you're just more floaty and you know, either A, you're dancing, chill, giggly, you still have this kind of like we're not endorsing any type of uh substance abuse. We're just saying uh that in our experience, uh, it does give you a different type of. Can you guys stop copying?
SPEAKER_05What was that?
SPEAKER_06I don't know. Anyways, lucky man. You're a lucky man.
SPEAKER_04You like that, brother.
SPEAKER_06Anyways, uh so I do think that it is a different type of intoxication, I suppose, but I've never really seen anybody be sick from a gummy.
SPEAKER_00No, typically it's Alcohol, just mainly alcohol, and it goes away.
SPEAKER_06Also, in situations where I've had to kick people out of a club, it's because of alcohol abuse.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it goes away. So you're only what high for a couple hours and then goes away compared to alcohol, you have to sleep it off.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then you can take more gummies if you want more.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. We've taken gummies where it's lasted a while.
SPEAKER_06Um, we did.
SPEAKER_01EDC.
SPEAKER_06That was fun. We will have to tell that story.
SPEAKER_02It depends on the type of gummies, I guess, because there are different types. Yes, there is.
SPEAKER_06So if you have had an experience in this, in this setting, in this lifetime, where alcohol is a necessity more than a commodity. Like you need alcohol to be able to come out of your shell, engage in conversation, engage in even maybe sexual play. You it helps you develop the courage. Then I would definitely recommend or invite you to look at different outlets for getting comfortable with yourself. I don't, I don't know that I would agree that alcohol is the best uh vehicle to get you where you want to be in this situation, because again, it alters who you truly are. And so when it comes to real chemistry, uh, then maybe you're not really that person if it it alcohol is what ultimately helps you get to that state. So learning to be comfortable with yourself without alcohol would be my first recommendation in the lifestyle, because ultimately then will you know if it's a real valid connection and if it's a strong one, because that's what's gonna help you identify who your people are, who your culture is, and who those potential playmates could possibly be. Uh, so come up with a strategy plan. I guess our invitation is create a strategy plan when you're clean and sober with your partner. Hey, if we ever get to this point, how do how would you like me to approach it?
SPEAKER_02Know your limits too.
SPEAKER_06How would you like me to approach it as your husband? And then I see you just kind of lose it. What's gonna be safe for you to for me to say, hey, I think we're kind of getting close to crossing that bridge of no return. How do we fix this? And vice versa, as your wife, and I need to tell you, Richard, um, yeah, you need to kind of lay off the booze here a little bit. Uh, what, how do you tell me without getting me upset or offended? Because sometimes the initial reaction to people is they get offended, they want to respond with anger, what's ultimately we can witness and we can see. But but what is it actually that that'll get us to have that conversation in a clear state that allows us to create an action plan in the event that we lose that type of connection? What do you guys think?
SPEAKER_04I think you're right on with that. I think like you have to go in with some kind of moderation because like I know if I go to a party and in the first hour I take seven shots, you know, I'm I'm gonna be feeling a little different. You mean? Or if I take six gummies, yeah, I'm gonna be feeling a little different. You mean so to go in with a plan of moderation or um a plan of how you guys are gonna do things for the night, what the I mean, I think that's a good idea. If you're gonna be using substances at all.
SPEAKER_06Now, let's hold that thought for a second, because I don't know that I've had the opportunity and I've not given myself the opportunity to witness um our husband on gummies versus alcohol when he transitions to the supermodel status. Do does the same thing happen to him on the gummies that it does on alcohol?
SPEAKER_01It it does.
SPEAKER_06It does. I don't know that I've noticed it yet.
unknownIt does.
SPEAKER_06You know what should do the next one. We will take we won't let him drink and we'll just stuff him with gummies. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. We'll just see how it goes.
SPEAKER_01You can't overdose on gummies.
SPEAKER_06I don't want to try. Let's try it. Let's try it. You close his eyes, I'll open his mouth really wide.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Oh my goodness. Got it.
SPEAKER_06Help. Anyway, so so yeah, I do think that it's super important for us to learn to sit with one another as a couple and say, hey, one of the things we always want to make sure is that we're learning to keep each other safe. And part of that is going to be substance abuse control. And yes, we understand that sometimes it's important to kind of take that edge off, but but if we need to go further than that just to be able to engage in any type of real player connection, then maybe let's revisit our why. Why is it that we're doing this and why we think it's exciting, and then come back with that why. Because if if the only way we can go through this is being super intoxicated, then I think there's something deeper to talk about here.
SPEAKER_01I agree. I agree.
SPEAKER_04Thanks for the consensus.
SPEAKER_02I agree. We all agree.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna stab him, you guys.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna stab him.
SPEAKER_06She's not. She's let's use it. No, I'm not. I'm going to. Oh, you know what you should try with him? Sounding.
SPEAKER_01Yes, let's get some sounding. This is a different topic.
SPEAKER_06Do you have a different topic? I heard it's not a good thing. Do you guys got it?
SPEAKER_04Is that like when you put your ear against the wall and you can like hear his person in the room?
SPEAKER_06Yes. That's exactly what that is. So you just have to close your eyes.
SPEAKER_01Do you guys got any recommends for sounding bars?
SPEAKER_04Oh, like a good sound bar. I think st uh Toshiba's pretty good.
SPEAKER_01I mean I don't I hope you guys know what sounding is.
SPEAKER_06And if you don't, Google it.
SPEAKER_01But not at work.
SPEAKER_06Don't Google it at work. Or or before you're gonna have a meal. Don't do that either. Now again, we don't wanna yuck someone's yum. No, but they should call it plunging. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_04I can't unsee it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because some people do like that. And and those of you that do, tell us more. We wanna know. We wanna know what that's why I said this is for another topic for another. I I can totally see how you could really need to be intoxicated for that one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm a little disappointed that you don't get the ding at the end because it's called sounding.
SPEAKER_02Like a sound ball.
SPEAKER_06Like a pitchfork. Yeah, like you pitchfork it at the end. I think you do peach pitchfork it, and then it the vibrations go all the way up your anus.
SPEAKER_01And it shoots out.
SPEAKER_06Not your Neptune. Not your Neptune. No, Neptune just left Pisces. Anyway, um, so good stuff, guys. I think we definitely want, we definitely addressed this super big. Um, what do what did I call it initially? SPD. SPD. SPD. Silent Bedancy. We don't ever talk about it, but it could kill your night and maybe a lot of people around you as well.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so definitely moderation.
SPEAKER_06Moderation, but more than moderation, a plan. Creating a plan with your person so that you guys know how to communicate in a way that if it's getting out of hand, hopefully the other one is aware. Hey, we've created this plan, let's follow it. You know, you're you're getting to the place where it's getting unhealthy for you and the people around you. So let's remove ourselves from the equation to not cause a bigger scene than we need to. Because I think that's the other thing, and we probably all have a topic on this conversation alone. But if you've never been to a lifestyle party, and even if you have, emotions can be high. You know, you are dealing with a mixture of emotions. Who do I think is hot? Who thinks I'm hot? Is that acceptable from my partner? Am I accepting it from my partner if somebody thinks they're hot? Am I comfortable? Are you comfortable? Are they comfortable? Is everybody comfortable? I mean, the emotions are super high. And so sometimes the smallest thing can be completely taken out of context. So you find yourself with potential couples just having conversations on the side or in the bathroom. And we don't, we don't always recognize, you know, is it somebody that made you upset? Did you guys make yourself upset? Is it something you didn't talk through beforehand? So it can get a little awkward if you're not stable and if you've not had proper communication with one another since the beginning. And even then, even the most prepared and ready of couples, there could be something that completely throws your partner off guard. And now they're a little confused. Like, wait, what? You don't like this, or you said you never like that, and here you are down Zorro's throat. What's going on? Right. And so it totally is unexpected. There's a lot of unexpectedness that can occur because either you're into somebody a little bit more than you thought, or again, alcohol gets plays a huge part. And then before you know it, you're hanging on a chandelier and you didn't expect that. And so it could catch your partner off guard. And if you do not have the proper protocol to have those conversations, then it's gonna create conversations on the spot that you didn't know you had to have until you have them. So intoxication just either can aggravate that whole situation 10 times over, or sometimes it makes it a little bit easier if you know how to control it and have it in moderation. So I suppose what we're seeing from our modernly faithful space to yours is learn to have a plan before you walk into those situations. Do not come overly intoxicated because you want to be aware of your surroundings, you want to be aware of the conversations that are being had, and most importantly, you want to help keep you and your partner safe at all times, as well as the potential partners that you might develop a connection with. Those are just as important. Uh, any closing thoughts for you guys?
SPEAKER_04Just said like I definitely agree. Like, we've seen like if you're already having an issue, that alcohol can definitely exacerbate that. You mean yeah.
SPEAKER_01What my husband said. I said, baby. What the hell is my husband?
SPEAKER_02Same thing what you're saying.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, for sure. So give yourselves the chance, the opportunity to overly communicate. I think relationships in general dec demand and require so much communication. And being in the lifestyle only enhances that. It requires even more communication. That does not end. There is no point in your lifestyle journey where you're gonna be like, okay, well, we've communicated everything we've needed to communicate. There is no need to communicate any longer.
SPEAKER_02No, because every time something something is.
SPEAKER_06Every situation is different, every encounter is different, every connection is different. Uh, they're not really all the same, they're not all cookie-cutter. Every every situation just bring new bring forth new topics of conversation. So give yourself that chance. We invite you to walk in sober and assess as you go. Thank you guys for listening to this banter and hopefully some good bits of information as to how to approach a new lifestyle connection or maybe a new lifestyle event. We we hope you found it helpful. And until next time, don't get pregnant.
SPEAKER_01Bye, guys.
SPEAKER_06Bye bye.
