In the quiet town of Woodland, Alabama, on a warm summer day in August 1934, a boy named Vern Gosdin entered the world. He was one of nine children, raised in a home where music wasn’t a hobby—it was a language. Gospel poured through the rooms as the family gathered, harmonizing in church, and Vern—guitar in hand—learned early how to make a feeling linger in the air.

As a young man, he carried those harmonies beyond home, chasing a bigger sound and a bigger life. Like so many artists before him, he found himself learning the hard way—playing wherever the lights were on and the crowd would listen, sharpening his voice and his instincts night after night.
