Welcome back to him. You're listening to the popcorn girl loving the game Runs in the family. I'm Matt and I'm here with my dad Mark, and every week the dime means all things bully. We'll return to the biggest moments when the game's just gone. Making them the wins, rockets, and everything in between. Plus, we're looking forward to the weekend's matchup. Run through round one of the AFL season with three quick talking points from every game.
SPEAKER_00First game we're looking at is Sydney versus Brisbane. Sydney make it two from two starting the year strongly, beating Brisbane 104-60. Big forward for Sydney. Joel Lamarty kicked five goals to lead the Swans forward line. Brisbane Lions Lockheed Neal was everywhere with a huge midfield performance despite the loss.
SPEAKER_01Second game was Adelaide versus Collywood. Adelaide pulled off an impressive win over Collywood, 93-79. Wayne Miller had the most disposals in the game with 34 touches. A strong second half from the Crows set up the upset win at the MCG.
SPEAKER_00Geelong versus Fremantle. Geelong held on for a 110-100 win over Fremantle. Fremantle led for the first three quarters of that game but couldn't close it out. The Cats produced a strong comeback after trailing earlier in the game. Caleb Sarong was solid for the Dockers with a standout performance with over 30 touches.
SPEAKER_01Next game was Western Bulldogs GWS. The Bulldogs dominated GWS, winning by 81 points. Aaron Norton kicked six in a huge display out forward. Marcus Bronson and Kelly starred with 33 disposals and three goals.
SPEAKER_00Then we had Carlton versus Richmond. Carleton edged Richmond out on the tight one, 75 to 71. Some might say Richmond let that one slip. The Blues led for most of the night but had to survive a late Tigers surge. Patrick Cripps was great in the midfield for the Blues. It was a good close game.
SPEAKER_01The next game is Essendon Hawthorne. Hawthorne smashed Essendon, winning 145 to 83. Jack Gunson kicked five goals to lead the Hawks attack. Hawthorne's ball movement and scoring power were a major highlight of the round.
SPEAKER_00Then we have North Melbourne versus Port Adelaide. North Melbourne had one of the surprise wins of the round, beating Port Adelaide 113 to 67. Nick Larkey led the scoring with multiple goals up forward. The Kangaroos dominated the clearances and contested ball. Port Adelaide was scrappy at the contest and missed a few tackles. Interesting to see how both teams fare this week.
SPEAKER_01Next one was Melbourne vs. St. Kilda. Melbourne defeated St. Kilda 120 to 107 in a high-scoring game. Jacob Van Ruven kicked six goals for the Demons. Next game was Gold Coast West Coast. Gold Coast comfortably beat West Coast 131 to 72. Christian Petarco delivered another elite midfield performance. The Suns attacking pressure produced one of the highest scores of the round. Noah Anderson was among the top disposal winners with 34 touches.
SPEAKER_00And that's a wrap around one. Plenty of big performances and some things to take away as we look to round two.
SPEAKER_01First game of round two, Hawks versus Sydney. Can the Hawks cause an upset against the league the league leaders? Gunston at one end and Marty at the other. Who will kick the most goals? Sydney wins six out of ten last games against the Hawks.
SPEAKER_00Now we turn our attention to Adelaide versus the Bulldogs, which I think might be the match of the round. Can Adelaide show they are the real deal this year? Can the Gross stop the form of the red hot Marcus Bontempelli? It's gonna be a cracker.
SPEAKER_01Next game, Richmond versus the Suns. Petrarca and the Suns are red hot. Richmond were unlucky last week. Gold Coach need to just put their game this game as a win at the MCG.
SPEAKER_00Next game is GWS versus the Saints. Saints are 0-2, GWS a 1-1. It's important game for both teams. Suns are unlucky last week but couldn't close out the game. Can GWS bounce back after a really flat performance against the Bulldogs?
SPEAKER_01Next game is Dockers Melbourne. Dockers let one get away last week in Geelong. Melbourne surprised most with a strong performance. Can Geelong play well again?
SPEAKER_00How many teams last week won that didn't play round zero? It was a bit of a talking point during the week, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_01That was a lot. I I know Dockers didn't. Geelong didn't did win, but they played opening round. Adelaide got one. Adelaide won.
SPEAKER_00Adelaide didn't play last week, but they won. But they won. Oh, so you so you can win a game without playing round zero.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Um North Melbourne did as well against the Port Adela. Port Adelaide.
SPEAKER_00There you go. Alright. Next game, Max.
SPEAKER_01Port versus Bombers.
SPEAKER_00Sunday is proving to be the battle of the rebuild. First game of the Sunday rebuild is Port versus the Bombers. Both teams were disappointing last week. We're just in we're hoping for a game of much improved pressure and a bit of excitement from the both young teams.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. The next game and the final one of the round is the E is Eagles versus North Melbourne. Second game for the rebuild and Sundays is Eagles North. Eagles finished the game strongly last week. North had a great game against Port. Late yeah.
SPEAKER_00Last year's game at Bunbury was a close one, wasn't it, Max?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, really close.
SPEAKER_00Eagles were in front all day, but the Kangaroos came and beat him last, like late in the game.
SPEAKER_01Like two minutes left, and they got there.
SPEAKER_00Okay, Max, now it's time for the tips. Hawthorne versus Sydney.
SPEAKER_01I pick Sydney.
SPEAKER_00I'm going the Hawks. Adelaide versus the Bulldogs.
SPEAKER_01Bulldogs.
SPEAKER_00I go on the Crows. Richmond versus the Golco Suns.
SPEAKER_01Suns.
SPEAKER_00I'll go the Suns too. GWS versus St Kilda.
SPEAKER_01Giants.
SPEAKER_00I will go the Giants as well. Fremantle versus Melbourne.
SPEAKER_01It's hard to status, but Freo.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think I'll go Fremantle as well again. Port Adelaide versus Essendon.
SPEAKER_01Port Adelaide.
SPEAKER_00I will go Port Adelaide as well. And the big game of the round again. Eagles versus Kangaroos.
SPEAKER_01It's not it's actually pretty big. Last time they played this is very, very close. So yeah, I think Eagles could pull it off in front of a home crowd. So I think I'm gonna go Eagles.
SPEAKER_00I am going Eagles as well. And the results from last week, I think we've got three each.
