Adam is back for Episode 13 of Brotherly Love Sports with a shorter episode from Colorado, but a new segment built for Philly fans: Philly Therapy Session.
This week, we talk Phillies momentum, Crawford’s first big-league home run, the heartbreak of the Flyers and Sixers getting swept, and why the Flyers might still be “one move away” while the Sixers may need a much bigger reset.
Then it’s time to open the wound: what Philly sports moment are you still not over? Adam shares two that still hurt — the 2012 Winter Classic shootout loss and Kawhi Leonard’s infamous bounce.

And don’t forget this week’s Question of the Week:
If you’re heading to Reading Terminal Market and someone says, “Meet me at the pig,” what is the name of the coin-collecting good luck charm pig statue?
Follow, share with a fellow Philly fan, and let’s keep growing this thing together.
Welcome back to another episode of Brotherly Love Sports. I'm your host, Adam Curran, and I'm happy to be back. Still out in Colorado, so this episode may not be quite as long, but I'm going to try to switch things up a little bit too. First off, big thanks to John Fry for stepping in for me last week. Did a great job. Hope everyone enjoyed the episode. I know I did. In answer to his question of the week, which Phillies pitcher threw a no-hitter and hit two home runs in the same game was Rick Wise back in 1972. I don't know about you guys. I wasn't alive for that, so I had to look up the stats a little bit. They were playing the Reds. First time we've heard of somebody performing great while not feeling the best. So, speaking of the Phillies, they have gone 10-3, 11-3, something something like that since firing Thompson, which is good for them. Most of the guys in the lineup seem to be hitting better. Matting Lee seems to have figured them out and where they should be at, and everybody's doing well. It was great to see Crawford hit his first major league home run the other day against the Rockies. Tied up the game. Game went into extra innings. Unfortunately, they were not able to pull out the win. But it's good to see the lineup taking a taking a turn for the better. Pitching staff still looking solid. Sanchez is still doing his thing. Wheeler is looking a lot better than I honestly anticipated he would. And I'm happy for it. Big reason why I traded for him in my fantasy league. I know for a lot of us, last week was a bit of a heartbreaker watching the Flyers get swept. The the Sixers got swept over the weekend. The second round series, just the they they they both teams come off from beating some big-time rivals in the first round, and then they both fell apart. I am more encouraged by what I saw out of the Flyers, given their young team. I am still not the biggest fan of Tacett as head coach, but that's just me. Uh he throughout his coaching career, he's been a roughly 500 career coach. I don't know that he's the guy that that helps take them to the next level. I will give him credit, though. He seemed to have gotten them right towards the end of the season, which is a big reason why they even got into the playoffs. But watching them in the playoffs, there there are things that are concerning. But here's a hot take. They're one move away. The Sixers, on the other hand, a lot of moves away. I I don't know exactly what they need. Uh, outside of I I think the MB process now, because he seems to be the only guy left. Uh, he he needs to go. He's he's done. I'm uh I'm not the I'm not the biggest basketball guy. Uh uh correction. I'm not the biggest NBA guy. But I do know that the Sixers fired Maury, which I think was the first move that they needed to make. I think Nurse needs to be on the hot seat and bead needs to be gone. The team has a has a lot of needs they need to fill. It is what it is. Um I'm gonna stay on the positive and and look at the teams that I actually care about. So we're gonna we're gonna try something a tad bit different. And this little segment is going to be called the Philly Therapy Session. So, I want to hear from you, Philadelphia. What's one sports moment you still aren't over? I'm gonna I'm gonna give you two because both pain me deeply. In 2012, the Flyers hosted the Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park against the Rangers. It was a hell of a game. It was tight. I loved watching it. The game was tied, went into overtime, and eventually had to go be settled by a shootout. Rangers unfortunately won 3-2. But that's not the thing that disappointed me most. I hate losing to the Rangers. But what disappointed me most was watching Briere essentially skate in almost a straight line and barely do anything with the puck when he took a shot. If you re recall the game, he shot it directly into Lundquist's chest. And there there was no effort there, it felt like it was just a it was just a lazy shot. Like, oh, then the next guy will pick me up. That one pains me. Because at that point in time, the Flyers were still a very competitive team, and you always thought they had a had a shot at every game. You know you're not they're not gonna win every game, but that one when there is a lack of effort, I have a problem with it. The second one, and as stated previously in this episode, and among other episodes, not the biggest NBA guy, but the Kawhi Leonard shot that sent the Sixers home several years ago. I I can't that I don't remember what year it was. It was a fluke shot that got a lucky bounce, and that was it. That that year I thought the Sixers had enough to to win it. And ever since then, they have just been in this downroll downward spiral that they can't seem to pull themselves out of. So those are my two moments that I'm still not truly over. I I I'm sure I have some more deep within my memory banks that I'm currently not thinking of. But I want to hear from you guys. Let me know. I know this particular episode's on the shorter side than than what I'm usually doing. Well, we'll get it back to form next week. We'll have a little more fun. Keep switching it up, try some new things. Let's grow this thing together. A new thing that I'm rolling out at the top of the every episode description, you'll see something that says, Got a Philly sports take, send it. You click that link, you can send send the show a voice message, and we'll compile them together and we'll read them on the show. As always, if you want a shot at coming on the show, give us the correct answer to the question of the week. And the question of this week is if you're heading to the Reading Terminal Market and the people you're meeting up with or the person says to meet me at the pig, you'll have to look for a statue of a coin collecting good luck charm pig named What? The answer will be revealed next week. That's going to do it for me here on the Brotherly Love Sports Podcast. If you like the show, give us a follow, share us with a fellow fan, click that link and send us a voice message or find us on Facebook, and I will talk to you guys next week.
