Painter Gets Hit Hard Again

Much, much more important things. So Painter was optioned back to AAA after allowing what six runs through two-ish innings. Yeah. He's allowed 21 runs over his last 15 innings.

He his last six appearances, he's 0 for 4. He's 0-4 in 29 innings. He just does not look good at all. He's one and seven on this season with a 6.21 ERA. They used an opener in Milwaukee because they because of how bad he throws against lefties. His last five appearances, he's 0 for 3 with a 533 ERA and 17 strikeouts. Um, Ricky Bo went scorched earth on earth on Dombrowski and Mattingley in the post-game show that Painter is a thrower, not a pitcher at the moment, and needs to go figure it out.

We we as fans are terrible with patience, especially when a guy like Painter has been talked about to such a high degree where we just expect him to be ready. You know, he's we have he should have nerves of steel, he should be emotionally indestructible. But so far, the development hasn't hasn't shown, hasn't shown to be there.

No. Um, I think they were trying to see who was going to pitch better. And if Walker by some miracle was pitching just well enough, they would have sent him down sooner. So it's it was a lesser of two evils to release Walker and see what Painter still has. But that brings me to the next point in this lovely episode.

Fifth Starter Options And No Off-Days

Uh, I actually think it's just gonna be um, I was actually looking that up. He pitched earlier this year. Um, he made his debut last year. Right now it looks like is it um Alan Wrangle? He's the 28-year-old Brighty. He's pitching for Lehigh Valley, he's posting the 3.2 ERA this year.

Okay. I mean, it could also be Braden Tucker. Yeah. I have not, I'll be honest, I have not looked up Tucker's stats.

I actually think it's gonna probably be between Wrangle and Bryce Wilson, who's also 28 on the um Lehigh Valley team, but only because Wilson is a former starter for the Braves and Milwaukee most recently. But he's posted a 666 ERA in 11 AAA games. He's literally just a ventr a veteran presence in the organization. So is it just a plug and play guy, a month-tier guy, or do you bring up Wrangle, who has a 3.26 ERA in 10 appearances? Or in 3.47 in 10 appearances, 10 starts, 13 appearances. He's 3-4 at triple A right now. 20 59 hits, 27 earned runs. He's good enough. I mean, that stat line's better than Painter.

He also pitched uh uh three innings uh earlier this season. Three innings pitched, three hits, one earned run, and 44 pitches. He pitched six games, five games last year in the majors with a 245 ERA, but they were all out of the bullpen.

I I I don't know if like this is far less likely to happen, but it's not out of the realm of possibility because I've seen them do it before with other players, less pitchers, more position guys. But Tucker's in double A, he's six and three with a 1-2-6 ERA. And he's got 49 strikeouts.

Trade Deadline Priorities And “Run It Back”

Flyers Trade Brings Stability And Size

The Flyers made a trade. They got Joe Wool and Simon. I'm gonna put Benoit Bennett. How the hell do you say his last team? You know what? Doesn't matter. They gave up Airson, Andre, and a third round pick for him. And uh I I like the trade, honestly. Um it tells me that they believe more in Vladar than I do, which is fine. I think Wall is a much better backup, or or even if they split time between the pipes, uh, at any rate, he's better than Airson because Airson was Swiss cheese. Could could Airson have had a decent career here? Maybe, but it was certainly questionable. Um and Benot, Ben Benet, however the fuck you say his name.

Blocked and not going to contribute offensively, but he's a PK killing defenseman who will add some toughness to the team. And we saw in the playoffs, the regular season hockey might not be tough anymore like it used to, but the playoffs it's still there.

Comparison to Arison, he had a 14-11 in five season, 3.12 goals against average, but an 870 state percentage. His ceiling wasn't high, and uh there he's not a long-term answer in the net. I didn't we said it down the stretch, like when they were in the playoff hunt a month and a half earlier than every other team. And we would say it to each other to each to ourselves in our chats and whatnot, that when they start him, it's like, do they really want to make the playoffs? Because you again, he's inconsistent. You didn't know what you were getting from him. I think I really do think that the Leafs won it, Andre, 24-year-old puck moving defenseman. He's got more of a uh scoring upside than he showed this season. Only two goals, 11 assists, 13 points, and 61 games. That's gonna be the bigger piece for the Maple East in the return, and they just took the goalie to get rid of a kind of like a change of scenery type trade.

He can he's probably gonna be he's got a 1.35 cap hit this year. He might probably be like 175-2 next year with the cap going up. It is going up. You can't forget the cap's going up in the NHL. I think the next three season is the projection, and it's gonna be better for all teams.

And Wall is out of all the players traded, he's the better, he's the best player.

I agree. Like that this isn't a kind of move that's gonna make us run around the house and then celebrate, but it is the kind of move that good teams make when they know what they're trying to be. Flyers looked around and said, you know, we need more stability and more size on defense. And while it's not sexy, but then again, neither's watching your backup goalie melt the two-goal lead.

Eric Snow. Jesus. I mean, so, but it overall, I do like the trade. Again, Banaz is not a scoring defenseman. He's a physical, stay-at-home blue liner, provides depth, toughness, penalty killing. He's a bottom pairing defenseman, but apparently he's a really, really good locker room guy. Like he's gonna be like the stubs of the Flyers. There, I haven't I've read a couple articles that everybody's like he is always there, he's a great locker room presence, he's a vet. He knows what he knows his role, and he's embraced his role. And that's what I want to see. Guys who understand the role in the team, go out and just do your role. Anything above your role, perfect. But don't be don't come into this team next year thinking that he's gonna score 40 goals, 40 points from the blue line.
