 February 12th at The Myriad.

Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid.

Cancellation number two.

This one got all the way up to the doors. The band was in the building. Box office was ready. Ushers were ready. Merch was set up. The line was wrapped around The Myriad with Juggalos in full clown makeup downtown.

Then the show fell apart.

The setup was already strange. Hockey in the main hall. Fellowship of Christian Athletes in one side hall. A wedding in another. ICP in a side hall room that was never really the right fit.

The stage had been built halfway into the room to make the space feel tighter, but the band wanted it pushed up more. In a union hall, that is not a quick fix. You can’t just move a built stage in the middle of the day with other events happening around you.

Then came the bus idea.

They wanted to pull the buses behind the stage and use them as a backdrop with generators running.

The fire marshal shut that down fast.

An hour before doors, the call came down.

No show.

Everybody still had to be paid. Staff. Box office. Ushers. Crew. The room was ready, but the show was dead.

And the Juggalos did not take it well.

Ringling Brothers had been there the week before, so there were hay bales still sitting around The Myriad. Once the cancellation hit, the crowd started grabbing hay bales and throwing them into the downtown water features.

That is how fast a concert cancellation can turn into chaos.

No show.
 Angry crowd.
 Hay bales in the fountains.

Only ICP could create that kind of scene without ever playing a note.

February twelfth, Insane Clown Posse and Twisted at the Myriad, and this was cancellation number two. Oh yeah, we got right up we got right up to the doors on that one. They were in the building. Why did this one cancel, Jeff? Okay. Well, it was it was supposed to be in the side hall. They had uh what was it, a hockey game or a basketball game in the hockey place? Hockey in the main hall. They had a fellowship of Christian athletes in one side hall room. Next to it. It was what, a wedding in the other one?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And then over there in that great hall.

SPEAKER_00

In the very end. And then we had the other side hall room with ICP. And uh they came in and built the stage at about halfway up in the room.

SPEAKER_01

Kind of a funky day. You know, they wanted it to be pushed up even more because back to backed into, you know, they crowds, bands wanted it to be to where it looked like it was packed up front, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So they knew they couldn't fill the whole side hall, so they wanted to push the stage was at least halfway up in the room. And so they only so it's like a half-house show.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't pushed up enough how they liked it, and immediately from from that point they wanted it closer and it just it became a power match.

SPEAKER_00

And you could you can't move the stage because it's a union hall. They built the stage the night before. And there's stuff going on in the in the venue. You can't just come in and it's it's it's it's a little more complex than that. And this was halfway through the show. The show didn't belong to the room. So then they then they decided they wanted to pull the uh remember, they wanted to pull the buses behind behind the stage and use them as a backdrop. And the fire marshal's like, no, and they wanted to leave the generators running, you know. And the fire marshal's like, that's not gonna happen. And so here again, um we had I paid Billy and and the show was gonna happen, and uh he comes back in and says, Well, it's not gonna happen. We were like, I don't know, maybe an hour to to the doors, maybe. Um the the box office people were there, the ushers were there, the everybody has to get paid. Yeah, and and so here we are an hour before doors, and there's a line around the the myriad. Um Juggalo clown makeup downtown. And so they say no show. Well, um, and all the merch was set up and everything. I mean, we were ready to go. We were and uh the what Ringling Brothers had played there, what the had done the circus there like the week before. Yeah, they were like hay bales. So there's tons of hay bales sitting out around the Miriam. And this is before they remodeled all that stuff down there, and there used to be these fountains all the way around that had the big round water attractions or whatever. Uh-huh. Well, the juggalos got a little upset when the cancel show cancel, and so they started taking these bales of hay and throwing them into these water features downtown.
