The summer of 1997 had a little bit of everything.
May 21st, Better Than Ezra played the Diamond Ballroom with The Boo Radleys. At that time, Better Than Ezra was riding high, and The Boo Radleys were a solid name on the bill too.
Then June rolled in with a strange mix of shows.

Reel Big Fish at Bricktown Live.
RATT at In Cahoots.
Then came June 22nd.
Matchbox 20 at The Boar’s Head.
Five dollars.
That is the kind of ticket price that sounds unreal now. A 95X show, Matchbox 20 coming through before they became a much bigger name, and a cool pass designed like an actual matchbox.
That is the fun part about looking back at these old calendars. Some shows were already big at the time. Some were club dates before the band exploded. Some were just wild bookings that only make sense when you remember how different the scene was back then.
