Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I'm Thomas Jenkins. This is WFUZ TV's the People's Voice podcast, and I'm here to remind you to do your part when it comes to flock cameras. We're not Pokemon that can't catch us all. And hey, if you're a local tweaker, they've got like three pounds of copper in there. I'm here in the studio today with Blair. Blair, tell us what up.
SPEAKER_02So I wanted to talk a little bit today about things that I think are really messed up, if you will.
SPEAKER_01Not messed up. F up.
SPEAKER_02It's all kinds of stuff. There's some stuff uh that isn't very nice that I want to talk about.
SPEAKER_01Okay, go for it.
SPEAKER_02First thing I want to talk about has to do with Northwest Florida. It has to do with the medical examiner's office in District One. So I saw something online, and they're having a party. Cocktails in the cooler. That's that's what they're doing. Um, I can tell you the exact verbiage of what they're they're having, but it is a party where they're turning the medical examiner's office and not just the office, like the cooler where they keep the bodies, the freezer. They're turning it into a cocktail hour in a soiree and charging 300 bucks a ticket for people to come in there and party where they keep the bodies.
SPEAKER_01And I just wow so the drinks are they aren't the only thing that are stiff?
SPEAKER_02No. It's really strange. Um I feel like it's in bad taste. I feel like I saw it and I was so shocked and appalled because it just seems really wrong. Maybe I'm missing something, but I I will I will read it to you while I pull that up. Just uh contemplate on that. So if you have a loved one that's had to be there in the cooler, how do you feel about different business leaders paying 300 bucks a ticket or whatever to come in and just like party in the cooler? Like, I don't know, this is what it says. For one evening only, spaces normally reserved for medicine, science, and service to the community will be transformed into an extraordinary and immersive experience, unlike anything ever hosted in our region. Cold selections and top shelf cocktails will be served within the walk-in cooler in this once-of-a-lifetime transformation of a clinical environment into a setting of sophistication and intrigue.
SPEAKER_01Seems a little tone-deaf.
SPEAKER_02I just cringe at it. I think it's in bad taste. I don't know whose brilliant marketing idea that was, but for those of us who have lost people or are losing people or have to deal with the thought of their bodies and what happens to them, like that's stuff that should be really dignified and really personal. And making a cocktail hour out of a cooler where they keep bodies, it's freaking weird. And that's just one thing I think is really messed up, and I just wanted to throw that out there. So going on, there's some other things that are messed up, and one of them is Yellow Hammer News. And yes, I'm just gonna say it, Yellow Hammer News is messed up, especially for one of the things that they did recently um about the data centers and the solar farm and people fighting back and all what's going on with that. So I will throw up the picture of the original picture that they took for this article that they did. Throw it up.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Now they wrote an article about how everyone that's fighting, well, particularly in Baldwin County, they mentioned the Baldwin County group, the Stop Solar and Baldwin group, that Megan Fowler is the president of the Friends of the Ten saw. Those people, we went to the town hall, we've been following that the whole time, you know, getting to know Jim Ziggler, getting to know Megan, getting to know the people of Stockton. We did that Stockton documentary. They wrote that this group is being influenced by China and communists. And then they said Megan, her only political, you know, affiliation was like being a communist that supported Bernie Sanders. And then Tommy Tubberville made a statement in that Yellowhammer article. And his quote, and we'll throw the quote up there too, just because I might get it wrong, but quote from Tommy Tubberville. He basically says, Data centers are gonna happen. You can't do anything about it. These are all people being influenced by the Chinese and by communists. And if we want to keep up with China, we have to do these data centers, and who cares but anybody who actually cares about the environment and wants to fight back thinks.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, and there it's not like there's not other options other than Tubberville. And if voting Democrat puts a sour taste in your mouth, let me play this quick clip of KIV from COVID.
SPEAKER_00Folks supposed to have common sense. But it's time for to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It's the unvaccinated folks that are letting us name.
SPEAKER_01That's right. Unvaccinated people are the problem. Now, and she has a nice shiny red R right by her name. So you can't sit there and tell me that just because somebody's Republican, that they're gonna go along with everything that you want them to go along with. And yeah, these are not necessarily good just because they have an R by their name. So if you only vote based on someone's party affiliation, you're part of the problem.
SPEAKER_02Republicans, we got to get it together and care about our environment. That's not a democratic issue, that's not a liberal person thing. You're not a tree hugger if you want to preserve the character of the land we live in, if you care about farmland, if you don't want everything built up to the point of no return where our resources are depleted. That's you know, you're self-inflicting a wound there for generations to come. We have got to get over that. I am a Republican, so I'm speaking to my people here. You've got to like get out of that mentality of we've got the box. Or the bun if you're Taco Bill.
SPEAKER_01Think of the turtles.
SPEAKER_02But not Mitch McConnell.
SPEAKER_01Where is he anyway?
SPEAKER_02Is he still there there was a photo release? Is he gonna be at that soiree that they're having at the you know the next okay. Anyways, uh Tommy Tumerville, he he really is gung-ho about the data centers. I thought it was just taken out of context, but his own quotes, like, I can't we're gonna do data centers?
SPEAKER_01That was like the the gist of the quote.
SPEAKER_02It's coming.
SPEAKER_01I don't want anybody in office that says we're gonna do like you know that a majority doesn't want you to do something. You're a representative of the people, damn it.
SPEAKER_02So let's talk about Yellow Hammer News in general. So they took this photo and they AI'd it so that it's Megan holding a sign. She wasn't even the one holding a sign, she was behind the guy holding the sign. And then they changed the words on the sign. It said something about preserve our rivers or protect the wetlands or something, and now they said no data center. They made it very specific and they put her in there and they just rearranged the photo ever so slightly, put a communist China or put a Chinese symbol behind them. It's funny, they probably used AI to make the graphic and while they're talking about how they want data centers. But as you guys know, we had Dale Dees on the show. Shout out to Dale Dees because he saw this coming a mile away before anybody else was really talking about it. I know there's a lot of articles going up and people talking about stuff, but like Dale Dees was really speaking some facts at the beginning. Um, Yellowhammer News is connected to Katie Britt and the machine, and Katie Britt's husband was an Alabama Power lobbyist, and there are connections there between Yellow Hammer and Alabama Power that we cannot ignore. So, of course, they're putting out these articles, you know, pro data center articles and attacking the local residents who care about their community and who want to stop it. And I feel like that's crazy. I feel like it's just really insulting to the people that live here and care and have organized and have thrown their heart and soul into protecting the wetlands and the things that we have that make this area special. And I'm really angry about it, to be honest. I don't think it's good journalism, and I don't think it's nice, I don't think it's polite, and I don't think honestly, it might not even be legal the way they misrepresented that. Um there's there's action that these people could take potentially. So I don't know what's going on with it exactly. I'd have to get more details, but I don't know. It's messed up. It goes into my list of things that are really messed up.
