00:01:33.280 --> 00:01:37.040 It's a human experience, it's something that we see every day. 00:01:37.200 --> 00:01:42.719 We can see injustices uh across all layers uh uh of society. 00:01:43.040 --> 00:01:50.319 We can see injustices from international courts uh to our daily uh and to our daily life uh relationships. 00:01:50.480 --> 00:02:02.879 Uh we can find injustices uh committed every day, and we can see it in our uh in our relationships and in our in our everyday uh uh in everyday areas. 00:02:03.040 --> 00:02:15.120 For example, when we got when we go to work and we see that a coworker or a colleague takes credit for something that he or she didn't do just to get a promotion or some kind of reward. 00:02:15.280 --> 00:02:25.680 And I remember a few years ago the case of a of a woman, mother of three children, that uh she was going through a very uh difficult time, uh with serious uh economic problems. 00:02:25.759 --> 00:02:32.400 Uh she was arrested by the police uh by order of the court for not having her front uh garden. 00:02:32.960 --> 00:02:35.199 She wasn't taking care of her garden. 00:02:35.360 --> 00:02:42.400 Uh she said that of course she didn't have the money to take care of her uh of her garden because she didn't have the money to fed her children. 00:02:42.560 --> 00:02:45.439 And uh that was uh that was the reason. 00:02:45.520 --> 00:02:54.639 And she was detained for two nights until a landscaping uh company uh took period of her situation and fixed fixed her uh her garden. 00:02:54.879 --> 00:03:01.680 Many people of uh after this, many people were outraged and they were very angry about the situation. 00:03:01.919 --> 00:03:04.400 But this is not an isolated case. 00:03:04.560 --> 00:03:08.879 We can see these kind of cases every day. 00:03:09.039 --> 00:03:12.479 We can see how people commit crimes and they are not punished. 00:03:12.639 --> 00:03:16.800 We can see how the vulnerable uh are treated with contempt. 00:03:17.039 --> 00:03:23.680 And clearly, uh these type of cases show us something about ourselves, uh, it shows something about our society. 00:03:23.919 --> 00:03:32.960 Uh injustices are something constant in this world in which we live, and not only in the justice system, but in every area of our lives. 00:03:33.280 --> 00:03:44.800 The worst thing is that uh when we see uh these things, when we see these type of cases, and we see how injustices are committed, we have this feeling that things are not getting better. 00:03:45.120 --> 00:03:48.000 We feel that things are even getting worse. 00:03:48.479 --> 00:03:55.039 So we feel this frustration frustration, we we feel this anger inside of us that constantly floods us. 00:03:55.280 --> 00:04:04.400 And we we all have we all have uh stories about injustices, we all have suffered uh injustices at some point. 00:04:04.560 --> 00:04:06.319 But I think you get my point. 00:04:06.560 --> 00:04:11.919 Injustice is a common thing, it's a human experience, it's an everyday experience. 00:04:12.159 --> 00:04:17.920 And this is so because we are sinners living in a corrupted world, corrupted by sin. 00:04:18.160 --> 00:04:29.519 And sometimes we may think that God does not hear our prayers, or he doesn't respond to the prayers, uh, or he doesn't do anything about injustice around us. 00:04:29.680 --> 00:04:49.519 However, in a disparate, in a desperate time, uh and with an urgent need for help, David showed us in this psalm three different reasons, or rather three different characteristics of God, God's character, that fills us with confidence to cry out to God in times of need, in times of despair, in times of justice. 00:04:49.759 --> 00:04:51.199 So let's go to the Psalm. 00:04:51.279 --> 00:04:57.120 Uh we can read in verse number one how David is starting showing uh his need. 00:04:57.360 --> 00:05:01.279 Make haste to God to deliver me, oh Lord, make haste to help me. 00:05:01.519 --> 00:05:04.800 So we see David's prayer with extreme desperation. 00:05:05.120 --> 00:05:09.360 Uh David cried out to God for help with a sense of urgency. 00:05:09.519 --> 00:05:12.800 So we see David's prayer with extreme despair. 00:05:13.040 --> 00:05:28.720 But David's confidence was not in his ability to get out of his problem, he was uh not trusting in his ability to defeat his enemies, he he wasn't trusting in uh in his fighting skills, but he was trusting that God will hear his prayer. 00:05:28.879 --> 00:05:30.560 And how do we know this? 00:05:30.800 --> 00:05:40.399 Because when we read scriptures, we can find different titles or different names that show us or describe the character of God. 00:05:40.560 --> 00:05:48.800 We can find some uh some names that describe God's divinity, his holiness, his eternity, his power, his provision. 00:05:49.120 --> 00:05:55.120 So this is particularly relevant in this text because David is calling the name of God. 00:05:55.279 --> 00:06:00.319 He's appealing to the name with which God introduced himself to his people. 00:06:00.480 --> 00:06:08.720 And I don't think that David was just being uh spiritually optimistic about his situation, he was in danger, he was about to be to get murdered. 00:06:09.040 --> 00:06:12.800 He was not just crossing fingers and hoping for the best. 00:06:12.959 --> 00:06:22.879 He was trusting that God, uh he was trusting uh and he was confident in the in the assurance that God uh will will be hearing his prayer. 00:06:23.279 --> 00:06:26.399 He's confident in the assurance that God is 00:06:32.800 --> 00:06:38.800 So we've we see in verse 1 that David says, Make haste, O God, to deliver me. 00:06:39.040 --> 00:06:42.319 But in the second section, he uses the term Lord. 00:06:42.480 --> 00:06:59.360 So in the midst of the persecution, in the midst of the injustice that he's suffering, he trusted that God is a God who listens, a God who is near to his people, who listens to the prayer of his people, a God who is faithful in fulfilling his word and his promises. 00:06:59.600 --> 00:07:03.839 So when he mentioned the name of God, David has in mind something. 00:07:04.000 --> 00:07:06.560 He's remembering the promises of God in the past. 00:07:06.800 --> 00:07:18.959 He's confident that in the same way that he kept his word to Abraham, and he was uh and that he kept his word to the children of Abraham, God will be faithful to him too. 00:07:19.120 --> 00:07:23.920 He has in mind God's faithfulness in freeing his people from slavery in Egypt. 00:07:24.240 --> 00:07:35.360 He has in mind how he was faithful in leading his people through the desert for years, providing warmth and shade, water and breath, dwelling with them. 00:07:35.519 --> 00:07:42.720 He his skills, but in the faithful character of the Lord. 00:08:06.639 --> 00:08:08.800 He's trusting in God and his promises. 00:08:09.199 --> 00:08:19.439 So in the midst of the crisis, in the midst of the despair, he remembers that his trust is the God who keeps his word, in the Lord who is known by his fidelity to his people. 00:08:19.680 --> 00:08:23.839 God's faithfulness means that he is unchangeable in his character. 00:08:25.279 --> 00:08:29.680 He's unchangeable in his nature, he is faithful to his word. 00:08:30.000 --> 00:08:33.519 He promised to save his people and he will keep leading us to a prayer of Jesus, a desperate prayer of Jesus, crying out to his father, his father for urgent help. 00:09:12.799 --> 00:09:19.279 We see how the Lord in weakness and fear is asking when we go through through the need of this life, when when fear invades our souls, and when we don't see our prayers answer when we need, when we don't see our prayers answered, seeking help or rescue from God, we can be sure that our prayers are still heard by the Father. 00:10:11.840 --> 00:10:24.000 You can be confident that in the midst of your situation, in the mid of the crisis, in the midst of the pain, when you feel that your faith is wavering, when you see that someone that you love is doubting God's faithfulness. 00:10:24.159 --> 00:10:30.960 And when you struggle to believe what God affirms in his word about himself and about his promises, you can look back. 00:10:31.120 --> 00:10:34.080 You can look back how God has been faithful to you in the past. 00:10:34.240 --> the verse says in the first part, verse uh verse, second verse. 00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:16.639 Uh let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life. 00:11:16.879 --> 00:11:22.559 So we see how he prayed that his enemies will feel confused and ashamed of what they did. 00:11:22.799 --> 00:11:30.799 The prayer that we see in this passage is a prayer for it's a prayer in dark days, it's a prayer in despair. 00:11:31.120 --> 00:11:34.240 And it's it's evident that David's enemies want him to die. 00:11:34.399 --> 00:11:40.879 This is not a psalm of praise and joy until well we will see the very difficult. 00:12:06.480 --> 00:12:12.799 In fact, the Psalm is an incessantly desperate prayer for God's help. 00:12:13.039 --> 00:12:24.000 David here is like a soldier entrenched in the middle of enemy fire, without escape, without resources, with sufficient resources and without the strength to continue fighting. 00:12:24.159 --> 00:12:30.879 And as we saw in the verse one, in the the immediate request that uh was to cry out for help. 00:12:30.960 --> 00:12:34.240 But in these verses that David is asking for something else. 00:12:34.399 --> 00:12:36.320 He's asking for justice. their shame, who say, Aha, aha. 00:12:47.600 --> 00:12:53.440 His enemies are not only wanted to hurt him, but they also wanted to mock at his pain. 00:12:53.600 --> 00:12:58.320 David's enemies are not only wishing for his death, that's not enough for them. 00:12:58.559 --> 00:13:04.879 They make fun of his agony, they make fun of his pain, they rejoice in his suffering, and they make fun of his we go through situations like this, we can look at the hands of the Lamb. 00:15:39.279 --> 00:15:52.720 We can look at the Lamb with pierced hands, and we can fix our eyes to Hims to His because He has paid the price of the injustice, and He one day will reign again with all truth and with all justice. 00:15:53.440 --> 00:16:02.879 And the truth is that it's sometimes it's easy to relate or to identify ourselves with the victims. 00:16:03.200 --> 00:16:09.600 It's easy to see the injustice around us, but many times we are not victims, but we are the perpetrators. 00:16:09.919 -->
