Good morning and welcome to T-Bone Sports One Fan All Game Podcast Number Four. A few things to talk about today. Sorry for the long absence, but uh went on a little family vacation down to Moab, Utah. Uh, we'll talk about the Denver Broncos, their preseason talk. We'll see, we'll talk about the off-season, see what they've done so far since the draft. We'll talk about OTAs that started yesterday. We'll do a little talk about Bo Nix's health, who obviously will not be at OTAs or participating in OTAs because of his ankle surgery that he is still recovering from. We'll talk about the schedule that came out a while ago. And we'll do a little prediction of wins and losses to see how they're gonna do and some odds that they had that the odds makers have given the the Broncos. Again, very little respect towards the Broncos this year again, middle of the pack in winning the Super Bowl, but we'll we'll talk about that here in a little bit. Second segment that we'll talk about is the University of Colorado football. They're getting ready for their new season here in September and October, September and August. We also talk about Coach Prime to see if he's gonna be here one more year, if he'll make it all the way through. Let's see how his health is, let's see how he does. You know, first year he was here, he did great. Second year he did here, not so good. We'll see how he does in year three. Although he has done really, really well so far in recruiting and bringing in people, kids in the portal. We'll talk about their schedule, see how they have a pretty tough schedule. But again, it's college football and it's starting to kind of gear towards the NFL. So a lot of teams are gonna be starting on week zero and and and getting rid of some games that they don't, that some conferences are gonna get rid of certain games that they don't think is fair anymore. They don't need to do them again. We will predict their wins and losses. We'll also talk about Alabama football. We'll talk about their new season, see how their coaches are gonna do this year, who struggled the first couple years. He's been here. He is obviously still on the hot seat. We'll see if he makes it all the way through this season or if he comes back next year, depending on how they do this year. We'll talk about their schedule, do a little prediction on their wins and losses in the SEC, which is always a really tough division in college football, one of the hardest ones to play in, and probably one of the best uh in college football, right behind the the Big 12. Uh, a little bias there because I do like both Alabama football, Colorado football, Big 12 football, SEC football. But we'll see how they do wins and losses. And the last thing we'll talk about is is a little recap of the disappointing season the Avalanche had and not going on into the West losing in the Western Conference Finals in four games, getting swept by the biggest Golden Knights and not making it into the Stanley Cup Finals, which I think a lot of people thought would happen. So, start off with the Broncos. Off season it's gone good so far. Obviously, you know, we we know that Jaden Waddle is is in town and he's here and participating in OTAs and he's ready to go, and we'll we'll see how he does this year if he does become the number one receiver or if or if we still have you know Sutton is a one receiver. We'll see if if we'll we'll see how that goes. The the Broncos, you know, receiving core is is pretty pretty stacked, and and you're gonna see a lot of I think a lot of things in this receiving room. You know, there's obviously gonna be one man out, and there's obviously gonna be a couple places where where the the you know they're gonna lose players because they just don't have the room on on the 53-man roster once, you know, once that once that comes out and and then once this really starts to to to to be there. We'll see how some of these rookies came in. I know during rookie minicamp we did have the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Court Warner here. We'll see if he makes it into OTAs and see if he is gonna be able to be on on the um on the final roster. You know, you got the defense was a stacked, they added some players, they lost some players. We'll we'll see how you know how that how that goes, especially because the Broncos, you know, they're coming off last year in a season where no one really thought they would be 14-3. I don't think we'll see that same record. I mean, unless they just come together and gel and Waddle and Sutton and everybody else just have a phenomenal season and and and we really just blow everybody out of the water and in in that case we'll we'll you know that's that's gonna be it's gonna be I think it's gonna be a great scene, you know. Is you know, obviously we know Waddle will make the team, we know Sutton will make the team, we know Marvin Mins will make the team. You know, some of these younger players obviously we know aren't, you know, is little Jordan Humphrey. Is he gonna be the odd man out? Is he gonna be the one that that gets released? Is Troy Franklin Troy Franklin gonna be the odd man out in this receiver room? You know, is Pat Bryant gonna be the odd man out? I I it it it's a stacked receiver room. We'll see how, we'll really see how this goes. OTAs, not everybody has to be there. It's uh it's optional off-season training, and and you you do get a lot of players to come, especially the rookies will be there. You do get some veterans to show up to they'll they'll participate a little bit and they'll do their thing, they'll work out and they'll do their own little their own little thing to get get their mindset ready to go for the season because this is is kind of you know that that point in the season where it's not training camp, it's not mini camp, it's not the regular season, it's that time to to come off the offseason after being out of losing in the AFC championship game back in in January, and now it's take some time away from football, heal up, have some fun with family and friends, and and now okay, get the mindset, get ready to go. It it it's a it's one of those things that I think you you see a lot at a lot of teams take seriously, and there's a lot of teams that don't take it seriously, and and it it depends on how the coaches, the coaching staff, how much they want the players to really understand how important this part of the season is because you are coming into a new season, you are trying to get ready and get back into it. Obviously, Bo Nicks is not participating in an off-season. He is still recovering from both the ankle surgery and then the little the the little bit of a cleanup they had to do. But I think he'll be ready for for the the you know the the off you know a few more days and a few more weeks, he'll be ready to go. But he he definitely will be there for training camp, day one, ready to go. Will he be playing game one of the regular season? Yes, I think he will, but I think they're gonna take the Broncos are gonna take their time, they're gonna let him really make sure he's developed and ready to go and and is healed and is ready to go and gonna be 100% going into the season because it is it is a long season, it is a tough season. You know, he is a mobile quarterback, he needs to be able to have use to be able to move and plant and go and make good throws and and get out of the you know, get out of harm's way and and and not take a big hit where he gets reinjured again, or you know, make sure that ankle's 100% ready to go and and be ready for for the season. You know, it's it's a pretty tough schedule. You know, you you you really go back and you look at it. You play everybody in the the AFC West or the NFC West is who they they their their non-divisional teams are that they play this year. Again, they play everybody before their bye week in week 10, which happened last year. You do have two divisional games within the first five weeks, which is a little bit different than last year. Uh, you know, you do start off with a divisional game, you do end with a divisional game. Uh a little strange, but again, that's that's kind of the NFL's thing, is is, you know, especially because they do open on a Monday night, they do have prime time. You know, they have quite a few primetime games this year, you know, and at least three of them within the first nine weeks of uh of the season, which is again, it goes to show that the schedule makers give the Broncos the respect that they deserve to get more pre-primetime games than they have in the last couple years because they they have struggled and and have been so bad and haven't had that ability to be able to prove that they they do get primetime games. But you're playing a pre- your you know, your first your Thursday night game this year is against the defending Super Bowl champs at home. Yeah, it's a home game, but it's it's against a team that is coming off a Super Bowl. Yeah, the target is is it's huge on their back. Your preseason obviously has been cut down to three because they did add on add on to the regular season to make it a 17 game, a 17, an 18-week season instead of a 17-week season like they've had in the the uh they had many, many years ago when they only had 17. You know, you play the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta, you know, is Bo Nukes gonna play in that game? I doubt it, but he may get one, maybe two series to see how he how he handles game speed, but I I really don't think you're gonna see that. The biggest thing that I think a lot of teams do nowadays, and you see every team do it, and and you'll see it all the way, you know, all the way through the preseason, is these teams will do joint practices the week uh leading up to their preseason game. And that's where the coaching staff can really get a good look at who their starting players are gonna be. You know, they they know how it is, they take practices, they take it into, they make it almost a real game situation. You know, they take turns doing certain situations and first down, second down, you know, third down trying to convert to fourth down, or you know, what two-minute drills, and they and they do a lot of good work, and they get the coaching staff gets a lot of good looks at you know what they think of the are the players gonna make those teams? And then, you know, when they play the preseason games, those are the those are the chances for the younger players, the drafted players, the undrafted players to put game film out there for other teams to look at and say, hey, if he doesn't make you know their team, he he's a good fit for our team, or or he his his schemes. This guy will fit our schemes, or this guy doesn't fit our schemes, but we can maybe trade him and and and do their thing. Starting off the season in Kansas City's Monday night, week one. I think that's a win. I I think that's that's gonna be a win for the Broncos. You're you're talking about coming off as bad a season as the as the Chiefs had, you know, that that Super Bowl hangover, you know, that was a true Super Bowl hangover. You lose, you get beat up big, you know, the next year you really, really struggle. Yes, a lot of it had to do with no Patrick Mahomes. Is he gonna be ready for week one? He seems to think he is, the team seems to think he is. But coming off that injury, coming off that ACL injury, that's that's a tough thing to do. To to throw yourself right into week one. Is it gonna is it gonna be possible to to happen? We will see. But we'll we'll see how they do. Week two finally coming home, and you played Jacksonville early in the season and still later. Last last year, obviously, Jacksonville came in, gave the Broncos a tough loss after having a long winning streak. And, you know, we'll we'll see how they do. Jacksonville is one of those teams that does really, really good at the beginning of the season, kind of about midway. They kind of fall off a little bit, and then kind of at the end they'll they'll pick it up again. But they'll have, you know, but some years they'll they'll struggle in the beginning of the season, and then about half, you know, about you know, that second four weeks, that second, you know, a little bit of that that second month, third month, you know, they kind of pick it up a little bit and and start doing really, really well and kind of go on a win streak and kind of go back and forth. I think the Broncos can be 2-0 at that point. You do play the LA Rams, and they're a tough team. You know, they they they have always been a tough team. They have a great coach, and Sean McVay, they have a great offense, they have a great defense, they have you know a lot of depth at at key positions, at receiver, at running back, at quarterback, at, you know, on the line, in in the linebackers, the safeties, and and they're a tough team, and and they're a team that has always given the Broncos fits. So that's one of those games, again, it's early week three coming off, you know, the thing. Preseason, yeah, the teams haven't fully gelled yet, especially week three, but some have have really by then, you know, you you really see who's gonna be these teams, you know, in the first the first week, the first three weeks, who's gonna be the contender in that division, who's not, or how they're gonna do. So I'll I'll say, as much as this hurts, I'll say that's their first loss. Then they go to San Francisco. They play the 49ers. Again, a very, very well-coached team, a team that has a lot of depth, a team that has a lot of you know, big name playmakers on their team. But again, their quarterback struggles, their line can struggle. That's one of those hit or miss games. That's a game I think the Broncos can win. Then you play the LA Chargers in LA. So two games in California back to back, two weeks in California back to back. Will the Broncos come home or will they stay in California, practice somewhere, uh, and and and stay used to to C level and see how they do there. That's a divisional game. That's big. Again, well-coached team, a new offensive coordinator coming in who was a head coach and he knows how to play. He can he can bring this team really there. Again, that team is hit or miss. Their quarterback does good, he he struggles. But that's a game that I think the Broncos can win. So now they're at, you know, four, four and one, and and that's week week five. Coming into week six, Thursday night, a short week, a three-day game, three days off between you know being in LA, coming back to Denver. You are playing the Defending Super Bowl champs on a Thursday night on primetime. That's a big matchup. Third time you've played a team in the NFC West, you're almost done with the NFC West at that point. You only have one more team to play, and you play them the very next week. So you you you literally play all four teams in the AFC and the NFC West, one, two, a week in between, and then two in a row. So you play two in a row, a divisional game, two in a row, another divisional game at the end. You're done playing Kansas City before your by-week. You've played them twice. You play them on the road at the beginning of the season, week eight. You play them at home on a Sunday afternoon. That is right at the point to where they can start flexing games after week seven. We'll see if it happens. I don't think it will. Again, but it also depends on how both teams are playing. I think the Broncos lose to Seattle. Again, they struggle against Seattle. Seattle is a well-coached team. Yes, they have lost a lot of big players, but I think that's a game that's going to be a tough one for the Broncos, especially coming off a short week. The the Seahawks are coming off a short week. Yeah, they have to travel from the Pacific Northwest to Denver, but we'll see. That might be a toss-up game, but I I do unfortunately see that as a loss. Playing the Arizona Cardinals, they struggle. They don't have a very good team. You know, it's it's on the road, it's a struggle. They just don't have the coaching staff yet. There, they're they're in it, they're still in a rebuild. That's an easy, pretty good. That should be a win for the Broncos. So now you're one, two, three, four, five, and two going going into November. Coming into the the second half of the second, you know, m month of the season. You do play the Kansas City Chiefs again at home. That's another win. I don't think you'll see Patrick Mahomes. We might see Patrick Mahomes at that point. He might be ready to go. I think if they throw him in on week one and something happens, or in week two, between week one and week eight, you know, there's a lot of chances of injury, and I don't think Kansas City really wants to be able to put Mahomes in harm's way. If their medical staff is good and if their medical staff is smart, they will hold him out and to have him ready to go, maybe week eight, maybe week six, depending on who they play. But that very well could be another win. So now you're at six and two. Arizona Cardinal, you know, you play the Carolina Panthers. Again, a team that's coming off a playoff first playoff experience, you still have a young coaching staff, you still have a lot of young players. That's a win, I think, for the Broncos. You do have your bye-week week. And that's, you know, I I I'm not mad about that. I I'm not gonna say that's a bad thing. But going into your bye week. You know, you're you're there, you're ready to go. You know, you're you know, you're seven and two going into your bye week. You know, they you know, last year obviously they they they you know early in the season they struggled, they had some games they lost, but they did, you know, they did lose close games. I don't know if you're gonna see the Broncos being able to pull these close games out and win them like they they were able to last year. But I do see beating Carolina going into your bye week, coming off the road. You go on the road, you have your bye week, you do have a mini bye week. Right after the Seattle game, you do have 10, 11 days off before you play the Arizona Cardinals. So, you know, like every team has, you know, you have a mini bye and then your your actual normal bye week comeback, you play the Las Vegas Raiders at home. Again, new coach, young quarterback. They did bring in a veteran quarterback again. I think that's a win for the Broncos. Uh you know, so that that that's that's one of those things. Then you play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Yet another primetime game. That's their their their their third one so far, fourth one so far now. Again, Broncos getting the respect from the from the schedule makers in the NFL and and getting more primetime games. You know, will Aaron Rodgers be playing? Will he not? Who knows? I I think that's that's a win for the Broncos. Then you play Miami at home. Jalen Waddles playing his former team for the first time since being traded. Is that is that a revenge game? Is that just proves, hey, I'm glad you let me go. This is the team I'm on, I'm more successful. You know, I'm actually gonna be able to have a chance to win, win a ring. You know, here we are. I I'm I'm gonna say that's win. Then you play the Gents. Again. A team they barely beat last year on the road in London. You're playing them again in in New York on the road again. Can the Broncos win that game? Yes, this is a game they need to understand. This is the game you gotta take seriously and be ready to go. Another win there. Now one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, eleven and two after, you know, your first three games after your bye week, big three wins in a row. I I really do think you can the Broncos will be there. You play the Las Vegas Raiders yet again after three weeks in between them. Again, still struggling. Raiders aren't gonna do well again this year. They're gonna be at the bottom of the league and probably in the bottom of the AFC West. Another win 12-2. When you play Christmas Eve or Christmas night, you play Buffalo. Oh boy. That's a tough game. You were able to beat Buffalo in overtime in the divisional round. You played them well. You you you know, it was kind of a back and forth game, a great game. But in the regular season, they always play really, really well. It's in Denver. Another, you know, another semi-primetime game. It's on Netflix, it's at two o'clock. You know, it's Christmas Day. So we'll we'll see. I I I think again, I hate to say it, that that's a loss. So now you're 12 and 3. So we'll we'll we'll see. New England Patriots. You know, you lost to them in the AFC Championship game at home. You go to play them. That'll either be on a Saturday or Sunday, January. 2nd or January 3rd. We'll see what happens because obviously, near the end of the season, they do have some Saturday games after college football is is over. We'll see how the Broncos do. You know, I I really do hate to say this, but you know, they did get AJ Brown, but again, we'll see how they do, and we'll see if Mike Crable is there and that whole situation and ordeal he is dealing with is something that I'm very surprised hasn't been dealt with internally with the Patriots, but again, it is the Patriots, and they have their own way of dealing with things. I'm that's a tough-up game, but I'm gonna I'm I'm gonna say that's a loss. Two losses in a row. You know, you now have four losses, so you're 12-4. You know, we'll we'll see. The last game of the season. Again, you're playing the LA Chargers at home. Last game of the season. Obviously, I think that'll be a win. You're now at 14 and 3. Or 13 and 4. That's what I think is is one of those things that they're they're gonna be. You know, they're they're they're gonna go they're gonna go that. I doubt they'll be 14 and 3, but you you never knew. You know, they're they're middle of the pack for the to to make the playoffs. You know, it it's crazy that they're there. They're you know, they're they're they're they're you know, the Chiefs and Chargers and other teams are predicted to finish ahead of them to make to make you know the to make the playoffs. And and, you know, the odds, you know, plus 2, 200, 2,200 to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel and DraftKings, and and uh I don't know. I I I see the Broncos being there. I see the Broncos doing well. I see the Broncos having another successful season. Yes, I do see them winning the AFC West again for the second year in a row. But again, let's see how let's see how that happens and let's see how the Broncos do, but you know, we'll see. And again, it all develops about injuries, who gets hurt, you know, it's a long season. You know, can Bonicks stay healthy? Yes, I think they can. Can the defensive core stay healthy? Yes. But again, you always have have players get hurt, and you know, we'll see. I I think the big thing is watching that receiving room to see who the odd man out is. Here is segment two. Okay, segment two. University of Colorado football. Yet season number three for Coach Prime. Again, coming off a season where you did not make the playoff, you did not get a bowl game, you finished last in the pack 12 in the Big 12. You know, the first couple years, you know, you you were right in there. You know, it it's gonna be an it's gonna be an interesting season. You know, Coach Prime is there, he he's done a good job so far this year. I think he he now has these players still believing in in his you know his ideas and and his scheme and his way of doing it. They've lost some coaches and the coaching staff, they've added some new coaches. But I think the core of this team is is understanding now that you know Coach Prime knows what he's doing. He is able to develop players and put them in the NFL. You know, yeah, they're you know, his kids aren't there, you know, Travis Hunter isn't there, so the big names aren't there. But but I still think you have that core of a team, the fans in Boulder, and especially around Colorado that are that are CU fans, you know, they they they respect Colorado football. It's it's getting put back on the map, it's still there, they still struggle. Teams, you know, the the you know, the analysts still like to say, uh, you know, it's just uh the the the fanfare is over and they're gonna struggle, and Coach Prime's out. You know, we'll we'll see how his get how his health is this year. But I do maybe see him playing one more year. I do maybe see him retiring. I think it kind of depends on a lot of how how this season goes and and and what and what is going to happen. Again, the Broncos are, you know, so far the way the schedule comes out. One, two, three, four, five games so far on either ESPN or Fox or FS1. You know, we know there are gonna be some night games, there it's gonna be some day games, you know. So there's gonna be some there's gonna be some some primetime games for University of Colorado again. And again, years ago, that that didn't happen. That's they were they were always playing on a Saturday afternoon and they were always you know televised on the Pac-12 network when they were there. And we'll we'll we'll see how they do. I I think they're gonna do alright. I think they barely make it into a bowl game. I think they may get that seventh, that six wins to be eligible. They might get seven wins. You played Georgia Tech again. Last year, obviously, you lost against Georgia Tech at home. But again, now you're playing some big name teams. Now you're playing some of these bigger divisions, some of these divisions that are tougher, that some of these divisions that teams that have had developed and have good seasons and have consistency in in their program because they've they know how to recruit, they know what they're doing, players want to go there because of you know the coach or other players being successful there. You you're really seeing that starting to to happen at at Colorado now, and and and you do play Georgia Tech. Again, unfortunately, I I'm gonna say that's that's we'll do a little win-loss prediction here. I say that's gonna be a loss. Unfortunately. You do play Weber State, again, you're playing a low division team. You know, but that that's gonna be an interesting, that's gonna be an interesting game, especially, you know, again, early September. I think that's a win. So one and one going so far the first two weeks. Then you play Northwestern. A pack or a Big Ten school, a school that does well, a school that's really starting to be able to compete in the Big Ten. But again, I th I think that's that's though uh a win there. So now you're at two and one going into you know the end of September, beginning of October. Now you're going into when you start playing your conference games, and you know, you have you have three really, really tough, four really, really tough conference games right off right off the bat. Baylor on the road. Is Baylor gonna be a win?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_00Baylor again. They lost to him last year. They're they're playing, you know, they're a good school, they've had the ability to bring in big good players. But I'm gonna say the bronze the I'm gonna say the CU is gonna shock shock Baylor in and they'll take a win. Texas Tech again, a program that has done well the last couple years. They really being able to recruit, you know, it is Patrick Mahomes automator. So you do have that going for you in Texas Tech. Uh I'm gonna say that's a loss. Utah has had some things happen so far in the offseason. They did lose their coach, they do have a new one. Again, I'm gonna say they're gonna shock the Big 12 or the Pac-12, the Big 12, and that'll be a win. Oklahoma State, that's one of those games that again, a team that is really, really well, but I'll say they'll shock the everybody in the Big 12, and they'll take that as a win. Kansas State, I'm gonna predict that being a win. You know, they'll they'll you know, I think, you know, coming into Boulder, especially, you know, in October, it can get cold. You know, that's gonna be a tough atmosphere. You know, it is Halloween, so that makes a tougher in, especially in Colorado. And I think that can always be a snowy game, it can be a cold game, it can be warm. Who who knows what it's gonna be? Arizona State. I I think that's unfortunately, uh, I'm gonna say that's gonna be a loss. You know, obviously, the very next week they play Houston. They're they their program is is just so well, so stacked, great coaching staff there. That's gonna be a win. Cincinnati. You know, that again, another good Big 12 school. I'm gonna say they're gonna shock everybody in and win that. They do play UFC, your UCF. Again, I think that's a win. So one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight wins. Okay, a few more. At least I think they'll be bowl eligible. Maybe one of those, you know, maybe Cincinnati will be a loss, maybe UFC will be US, UCF will be a loss. Do they make the big the Big 12 championship? No, I do not, but I do think they they do become bowl eligible, and I do think that they have that ability to be there, and and I think this will be a good a good turnaround season for for Coach Prime, and and we'll see how we'll see how that goes. Well, on to segment three. Okay, Alabama football, SEC football, one of those divisions that that is that is always there. They're coming off another season where they made the the playoffs. They lost in the first round. Um one of those things that I think is is one of those thing, teams that I think a lot of people think when they when they came up with with you know, when the playoff committee decided to let them in, especially with two losses and not winning the the conference championship. I think a lot of people were were turned off by that and and didn't think that was fair. Again, you know, their schedule is a little bit different. They do have that easy, you know, team that they play at the end before everybody plays their last game of the season, their rivalry game. The SEC said this is the last year for it after this year. They're getting rid of that easy sketch that, you know, cis, you know, sister, stepsister school game, easy win for everybody, you know, kind of be ready, kind of just let the the starters have a gay game where they're not playing and they can rest and you know get the younger guys in there, get them some experience and and play a lower division team and blow them out of the water like most of the SEC schools do. You do play Eastern Carolina in in Tuscaloosa game one. Obviously, uh that's a win. You know, the you know, Eastern Carolina is one of those teams that I don't think can compete against you know Alabama, Alabama's well-coached team. That's that's gonna be there. You know, will their coach make it all the way through the season? I I don't know. You know, he he struggled last year. A lot of people wanted him fired, especially after the first season. But but we'll see. I I think he's on the hot seat. I think it's it's gonna take you know a really good season. You've got to be able to win the the conference, I think, to to see if if Alabama keeps him or if they decide to go in a different direction, you know, and and a and a fairly tough schedule for for Alabama, but again, it is the SEC. They do some weird things of of how they do it. Week two, you are on the road, you do play Kentucky, that that's a win. Florida State, you you lost to them. Your, you know, that one your first year there, you got, you know, that was where everybody, oh Louis, you get rid of the coach. I I think they bounce back and and Florida and beat Florida State. South Carolina, that's gonna be a win. Mississippi State, that'll be a win. You played Georgia. You lost to Georgia in the in the SEC championship game last year. That's gonna be a tough game. I think that's gonna be a loss for the first loss for for Alabama right there. Tennessee, you know, that's always a tough game, especially because that's a big division. That's a big rivalry game. Obviously, I think they'll win that one. Texas AM, you know, that that one's always back and forth. Uh but but I'll give I'll give them I'll give them the win on that one. LSU, you know, obviously Alabama LSU. Big rivalry, not as big as is is the Auburn game or or the Iron Bowl as it's called. You know, I'll I'll say that's gonna be a win for the for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Vanderbolt away. Again, that's one of those games. You can't sit there and be like, oh, this is gonna be an easy win, like they did a couple years ago, and they lost to Vanderbolt because they assume that, oh, Vanderbolt's, you know, nothing, and and we can beat him, and and this will be a cakewalk for us, and and they wound up losing. But I'll I'll give I'll give Alabama I'll give Alabama then. Then you play right before your last game of the season. You play Chattanooga, again, small little school, you know, FPS school. Obviously, we know that's that's gonna be a win. You play Auburn the last game of the year at home in Tuscaloosa. Obviously, I'll give them a win. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, twelve and one, maybe eleven and two somewhere in there. There might be some a loss there. Maybe uh Alabama or AM might be a loss, LSU might be a loss. Again, some of those are the toss-up game. I just don't think they're gonna beat Georgia Tech. I don't think they're gonna go undefeated. But again, it is Alabama. It is unpredictable, but we'll we'll see how they do. Yes, I do think they make it into the the SEC championship game. Yes, I see them getting back into the college playoff. Yes, I do see them maybe winning a national championship, but uh it's one of those things. It it's gonna be it's gonna be a crazy season. You know, University of Illinois, they're the ones with the big target on their back. They are the defending national champions. They did lose their quarterback. His brother is still playing for them and is the quarterback for next year. But again, who who knows? College football is is so unpredictable nowadays, and especially now that they have a playoff system that that works. Yeah, it's 12 teams. Are they gonna go to 16 teams? That's still a lot of talk of that, and and see how that goes. Maybe next year, obviously, we know they're they're staying with the 12-team format in college football this year. You know, they people were like, oh, you should go to 25, you should do 24, you should, you know, but you know, because I think a lot of people want a playoff structure like they do for for basketball, but that's tough. I think that's gonna be harder. You you would really need to cut the season down at that point. Everybody would have to start week zero. You would have to start in in early August, right after everybody gets into school and and and ready to go, and that and not in September. Uh, and you know, that's gonna be tough because then you're gonna be competing with you know professional football coming in. And and I think what the NFL and college football have done and that give them Labor Day weekend, you know, let college football start no NFL games until after Labor Day weekend, until after college football gets started. We'll we'll see how that goes. But again, I think you'll you'll see Alabama always there. They're they always have good players, they always have it, they're always a well-coached team. I I think they'll be right up there, top four, top five, coming into the playoff when the playoffs come around, and and and they'll get a home game and and they'll do well. I I just don't see CU doing it unless they just Coach Prime is really able to get these guys going and really light a fire fire under them and and really be ready to go. But you know, I do see the the the Buffaloes making a playoff. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_01Colored Avalanche sweep round one.
SPEAKER_00Play the Minnesota Wild, win it in game five in overtime. All the momentum is there, you take 11 days off, you play the Vegas Golden Knights. Again, everybody and their brother thought, oh, the Aves or the div the president's trophy winners, they're gonna they're gonna go through, they're the number one team, they're the best team in the NHL. They have the depth, they have the speed, they have the talent, they're gonna win the whole thing. You know, it's just a matter of, you know, it it being there, everybody there. Oh boy. You you go into the Western Conference Finals, you lose to Vegas game one, you have a three-goal lead in game two, you wind up blowing that, you wind up losing both games in Denver. Go to Vegas. You have been Road Warriors all season, especially in the playoffs. You had you had some great games on the road. You lose game three. Now you're down three games to none. Now you're coming into game four, you're one game away from being eliminated. Where where was Bednar being there? And where was he? Why was he not? You know, he was trying to change lineups, he was trying to get things to go. You know, Kale McCarr obviously didn't play until game three, almost game four. You know, Nathan McKinnon wanted himself, these guys were injured. I don't know if it just got to the locker room of like, hey, you know, guys were tired, let's just be done with the season, let's end it, let's just go home, let's just, you know, relax and and come back and and see where next year goes. Who who knows? But but you saw the injuries, you saw McCart not playing, you saw McKinnon not being himself. And and I think that hurt the abs. But again, who who knows what what really happened in and getting swept by Vegas, who made a coaching change mid-season that fired up that team. And and most teams would have been like, eh, our coaches, you know, they would have just packed it in and and and started the rebuild then and and and seeing how they go. Av keeping Coach Bednaria, I think that's a decision that I think a lot of people are shocked by. But there's two different aspects you've got to look at at in that. You either get rid of him, he still has one more year on his contract, you still have to pay him out for that year. You have to figure out what what you're gonna pay him if you get rid of him, or do you keep him see what happens midway through the season, maybe make a coaching change, maybe like see if you can get you know the the the avalanche to ha have a season where they get rid of Bednar midseason or somewhere in the the season and they have a you know explosion, okay, we're gonna play for this interim coach, and and they're able to get into the playoffs and and make that run for the Stanley Cup final and and and be there and potentially win it and and see how their coaching changed, see if that changes anything in them. But the other aspect of the abs is keep Coach Bednar, see how this year goes. If he loses and doesn't win another cup or has another exit early second round, even the Western Conference Finals, you fire him at that point, then you don't have to pay him. His contract's over. You can wash your hands of him, you know, free and clear. The playoffs were really, really, you know, just they were so hit or miss. You sweep the first years, you win in five games in the second round, you get swept in the third round. You know, you're it just was the time, the tolls, the injuries, everything I think built up on the aves. And but you gotta give a lot of credit to Vegas. They were pinching, they were pulling, they were, they, they did, they were making the aves really, really, really struggle and not get good shots on goal and you know, beat them in the defensive bone, beat them in the offensive zone. To where Vegas, you made a mistake in the offensive zone. Vegas was able to get the puck and and steal the puck or or keep the keep the puck in there or or make your players do something dumb and they were able to capitalize on it and get a goal. And Vegas is able to punch the Avalanche in the mouth. And the Avalanche just never were able to stand back up and and punch Vegas back in the mouth. There were a couple times where you know it was back and forth punches, but it just it wasn't there. You know, the again, you see the season toll, you see where it is, you you see how incredible the playoffs are and how hard it is to be in this playoff. They did lose the the GM. He is off, they'll make the new one. Obviously, we know you know Joe Sakak will fill that role for this year. It's gonna be an interesting season for next year for the Avalanche, you know, has their playoff window completely closed? I don't think so, but a lot of analysts here, either on the fan or even on altitude, say yes. I I just don't know. I I think there's still some room for improvement. I still think there's room to sit there. Does Coach Bednar make it all the way through the season? I don't know. You know, the Blackwood, Wedgewood, goalie controversy. I think that had a lot to do with how they struggled in the Western Conference Finals. But hey, you know what? The Nuggets made the playoffs, the Broncos made the playoffs, the Avalanche made the playoffs. Yes, at one point there was talk of three championship parades in Denver, and then it went down to two, then it went to one, now it's a zero. But hey, let's see. It's it's been it last year. It was a great season for Denver Sports, and you know, we'll we'll see how the rest of the rest of the year goes. We'll see how next year goes. And, you know, let's let's hope all three teams have another great off season. All three teams have another great regular season. Take care. See you later.
