Welcome to Kingdom Insight with Dr. L.K. Leonard, raising thanks back to God through clarity, structure, and spiritual authority. In episode one, we talked about why leaders drift. In episode two, we discussed realigning, restoring alignment. In episode three, we focused on how to protect ministry culture. But none of none of that really can uh be sustained without a disciplined leadership. Because culture reflects leadership and leadership is sustained by discipline. So today I want to talk to you about guarding your leadership discipline. Because leaders don't drift because they lose their calling. That's never the case. They drift because they neglect the disciplines in their ministry. Not because they they lose their calling, but because they they re drift in and they they because they neglect the disciplines that they have in their life. See, discipline sustains our calling. That's the first thing we must understand is that when you have discipline, it sustains your calling. 1 Corinthians 9 and 27 says, But I discipline my body and I keep it under control. Uh Paul understood something that every leader must understood, and that is calling is given, discipline is developed. Let me say that again. Calling is given, but your disciplines are developed. God gives you your calling, but it takes your disciplines to be developed. You can be called, but sometimes you can still be ineffective. Even though you're called, you'll be ineffective. You can be gifted, but you can be inconsistent. Discipline is what sustains your effectiveness over time. Many leaders rely on gifting, but they neglect their disciplines. And over time, they'll find themselves gifted without discipline. It'll lead to inconsistency. So we must be, no matter how gifted we are, we have to learn how to be disciplined and have disciplines in our life. What would happen is, listen, your calling will open the door, but it's your disciplines that keep you consistent. Calling will open the door, but it's your discipline that keeps you effective. You hear that? Let me say that one more time. Your calling will open the door, but your discipline will keep you effective in your ministry. So we must remain, remember that disciplines sustain our calling. Listen, not only do discipline sustain our calling, but private disciplines shape public impact. Listen to what I said. Private discipline shape public impact. We have so many people that want to have a public impact, but they don't have no private discipline. I I did you hear what I just said? So many people have uh that want to have a public impact, but they have no private discipline. Luke 16 and 10 say, he who is faithful in little is faithful also in much. Leadership is built in private before it's seen in public. Lord have mercy. Leadership is built in private before it is seen in public. Everybody, it don't happen in the public. What people see publicly is a reflection of what happened privately. Your private disciplines would include things like prayer. It would include things like your study, your preparation, and your personal integrity. All of those are your private disciplines. When you control your prayer life, when you have a disciplined prayer life, a disciplined study, a disciplined preparation, and discipline personal integrity. When private disciplines begin to weak, that's when public leadership uh eventually weakens. So we must be guard the our um our our our discipl our discipline. We must guard our leadership by having a strong disciplined life. What you maintain privately will eventually manifest publicly. So listen, let us be mindful that that private disciplines shape our public impact. Listen, listen, listen. The next thing I have to tell you is disciplines must be guarded intentionally. 1 Timothy 4, 7 and 8 said, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness. Discipline yourself for the purpose of God. Discipline does not maintain itself. It doesn't maintain itself. Your disciplines are not going to just become an autopilot. You got to maintain it. It must be guarded. Life gets busy. Ministry demands increase and responsibilities grow. That's a part of life. Somebody say life be life. Life gets busy. Ministry, your demand's going to increase, and your ministry, your responsibility is going to grow. So with that intentional efforts, disciplines begin to slip. If you don't have an intentional effort, your discipline is going to begin to slip. So leaders must schedule their discipline, protect their time, and guard their focus. You got to schedule your discipline. Sometimes you got to settle along to pray. You got to settle alone to read your Bible. You got to settle along to meditate. And so that'll that's what you got to guard your focus so that you can it's got to be intentional. If you don't guard your discipline, your discipline will intentionally fade. Not only that, but you must also consistently build leadership strict. Galatians 6 and 9 says, let us not grow weary in doing well. Leadership strength is built through consistency. It's not built through consistency. You got to stay consistent. It's not an occasional effort, it's not an emotional moment, but it's consistency. We must remain consistent. Small repeated disciplines over time produce strong leadership. It don't have to be all done at one, but if you do small, repeated disciplines over time, you'll get a strong leadership. So strong leaders are not built in moments, they are built in habits. Lord have did you just hear strong leaders are not built in moments, they are built in habits. You got to make a habit out of this. So in my uh closing charts, I say, if you want to protect your leadership, guard your discipline. Because discipline sustains calling, discipline shapes culture, discipline strengthens leadership. Do not neglect the private disciplines that keep you aligned because leaders who remain disciplined remain effective. This is Kingdom Insight Leadership, structure, and clarity.
