On this week's episode we discuss the new Spider Man trailer, our expectations for the film and we debate Marvel vs DC and who is better.

SPEAKER_01

Hi Spidey. I wonder what we're talking about today. Shall we?

SPEAKER_04

Welcome to the Shot On Film Podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, your your camera's there if you want to try and do it.

unknown

Oh, are you really?

SPEAKER_03

No, I'm kidding. No, it doesn't. What if I just took an eye out? Let's not do that.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Who could it be? The special guest is Noah. It's Bella. Extra long intro today. All right. How was that? It's it's good every time, in my opinion, but you know, different strokes. Alright, so this week's episode after our Oscar discussion is nice. This week's episode, we're talking about superheroes and the superhero films, more importantly, in what's the word I'm looking for? In correlation with the Spider-Man trailer that just recently dropped. Um as of the day of recording this, it's the day it dropped, but you guys for another week, but that's okay. Uh so I guess we'll just start right off the bat with uh what are your thoughts on the new Spider-Man trailer?

SPEAKER_03

I'm so happy it's finally out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I was I feel like here's my thing. Is there a lot to go off of? Kind of.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Also, no.

SPEAKER_01

Also, no.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I am really curious about the MJ storyline. Cause she ought no one remembers him.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Except possibly Bruce Banner.

SPEAKER_01

My assumption is, based off of the trailer, that either Bruce Banner is gonna be in one cameo scene where he just talks to him and we basically saw the whole scene in that trailer, or he's gonna be like the guy helping him figure it out and set the whole thing straight and fix everything. I don't know which way they're gonna go with that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, the way that the comics went, so I've been told. Yeah. And so I've been talked to. Um is that, and the other thing, I don't know how how do you keep to one comic? You don't know all over the place. Right. So every movie is like, because there's so many different types of comics, how do you pick? This came from one of them. Um that when spoilers, you should have watched this movie already.

SPEAKER_01

What, No Way Home?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. When everyone forgot who Peter Parker was, that Bruce Banner was the Hulk.

SPEAKER_01

And so The Hulk forgot Spider-Man, not Bruce Banner, that's the loophole.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it doesn't appear like Bruce Banner knows who he is from the trailer.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because he's like, Do I know you?

SPEAKER_03

But it's like, does he get a jogged memory?

SPEAKER_01

Right. I'm like, well, I don't know. I don't actually know anything about the comics on this, but my main point of worry, honestly, is I just don't want them to just snap their fingers and somehow find a magic way to reverse everyone forgetting about him because it feels like you're now making the ending of No Way Home irrelevant, which they love to do in superhero films, basically. Just let's just complete like they did that in Star Wars too, in the in the matter. You know, and we just discussed.

SPEAKER_03

What if we just scared you for a little bit, but we would never.

SPEAKER_01

Right. So I'm like, I want them to like if MJ is gonna be with him at the end of the movie or whatever, I want it to be like a brand new story.

SPEAKER_03

A brand new story for her.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. Exactly. I hope it's that and not, oh, I remember you now, aww. You know. And what did he say?

SPEAKER_03

Um that like she's still wearing her necklace that uh Peter gave her on the Italy trip in the trailer.

SPEAKER_01

I saw that. I noticed that. So it's like why are you wearing that?

SPEAKER_03

Not just not why are you wearing that, but like how do you remember getting that? And I'm wondering if it's gonna be like a I've just had it for so long, I don't even remember.

SPEAKER_01

I don't remember where I got it from. Yeah, it totally could be.

SPEAKER_03

Right. But it's also like I I know where everything is from in my closet, in my jewelry, in my like in in my house. I know where things are from. And I know that I can't be the only one that's like that. But I'm not you're not.

SPEAKER_01

Especially And MJ just seems like someone that would be like that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, she feels like someone that would like know where her things are from. Like she, I was gonna say she's a historian at heart, and I was like, um, I don't know if I'd say that, but I um she she knows her shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_03

And she's not one to lie.

SPEAKER_01

No, she's not. So I'm interested. I hated the last silly line, the friendly neighborhood thing. I thought that was so cheap. Fuck you.

SPEAKER_03

I thought it was so cute. I thought it was so cute.

SPEAKER_04

I was so interested, and I hate her fucking boyfriend already. I don't even know if that's a boyfriend or just some fucking dude that hit on her.

SPEAKER_01

She looks uncomfortable in that scene.

SPEAKER_03

She's always uncomfortable. She's she's awkward. Her trait is being a little awkward almost at all times.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so anything else you want to add on the spider-based?

SPEAKER_03

I love the banter already. Yes, I love the and I love the classic, like, not to say like no cussing, because they've they've done it here and there. Right. But like the mother, yeah, so good.

SPEAKER_01

That was funny.

SPEAKER_03

I love the because he he would be I mean, John Berthow's great clean-ish.

SPEAKER_01

We love him.

SPEAKER_03

You know what I mean? As Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_01

He's starting to turn into the Toby Maguire Spider-Man from this trailer a bit.

SPEAKER_03

Toby Maguire, I feel was always a little too old to play Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_01

That's true, but I mean it's turning into that.

SPEAKER_03

In his adult life, so then I I when I think of Spider-Man, I think of the teenager.

SPEAKER_01

Sure, 100%. Which is why Andrew Garfield was the best Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_03

I'm I'm not arguing.

SPEAKER_01

But he wasn't the best Peter Parker. He was way too hot to be Peter Parker. I'm just saying. Anyways.

SPEAKER_03

Tom is the best overall.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I agree. I agree.

SPEAKER_03

And you can't fight with Stan Lee on that.

SPEAKER_01

So well, that no one to fight with now. RIP.

unknown

Got it.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so anything else you want to add? Because uh I mean I mainly just let's wait and see. I will go watch that one. Um, I don't watch superhero movies all that frequently.

SPEAKER_03

I'm super excited. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero of all time. So I'm so, so excited for this movie. I remember when um No Way Home came out, I went to go see it by myself because I was on a family vacation, and um uh I looked for the closest movie theater, and there was only one seat left. And I said, I'm leaving all of you and buying this ticket. I mean And it was phenomenal. I was like, I love watching movies by myself. This is for the fans. It's great. And I'm okay with that every once in a while. Every uh not the whole movie, don't make the whole movie for the fans.

SPEAKER_01

Fan service for an entire movie. Don't do that. No way home was borderline that.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think it was the entire movie.

SPEAKER_01

It was borderline that.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think it was the enemy.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't quite that, but it was almost that.

SPEAKER_03

I think that there was enough.

SPEAKER_01

That movie's not very rewatchable, but it's amazing the first time you watch it. I can re-watch it. Yeah. But it loses a lot of its laughter. I mean, like, there's some movies that I'll rewatch 1500 times and love it every time. And there's some movies that I'm like, hmm, I wish I could see that again for the first time because now I know everything that happens. You know?

SPEAKER_03

Definitely for the fans, but I don't feel like the entire movie. It wasn't like but there's just like moments where I was like, that was real of y'all for that.

SPEAKER_01

The best part of that movie was.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you for giving me that. I'm so happy to have this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

No, it was great. I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_03

I'm happy that also this is canon.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Well, that's what I'm saying, though. Because if they start twisting things in the new one and like changing, it's like, well, now you're just like, why?

SPEAKER_03

Peter forgetting everything.

SPEAKER_01

Because dimensions and we have multiverses, so you can just undo anything.

SPEAKER_03

It is a boring pop out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

To be like, but in this universe. But at the same time, it's kind of like a well, it's a way to just continue to well, not not just that. I I think that it's like a comforting thought. And that's like that's in like my own life. To be like, it's a comforting thought to be like, maybe not in this universe, but in a different universe, it goes this way. Yeah. And maybe one day I'll have access to a different universe.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. I wonder what other versions of me exist out there. Shorter. They're living their best life. Yeah, I'm sure there's a shorter version of you out there too, if if that's even possible.

SPEAKER_03

Half of me? I would take half of me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, a little halfling. Uh it's a hobbit, that's what I meant to say. Oh. It's a nickname for hobbits, and all of these is halflings. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Half of what?

SPEAKER_01

Half a human. They're three feet tall.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, then what's the other half?

SPEAKER_01

Another hobbit.

SPEAKER_03

I'm so dumb.

SPEAKER_01

Two hobbits equals the height of one.

SPEAKER_03

I was thinking of like a centaur situation.

SPEAKER_01

No. Where I'm like, they're half no, they're just half height of a normal human. Sorry. That's all. It's a derogatory term about uh hobbits in the Northern Rings. Anyways, um, so what is your favorite superhero film of all time? The Side Tongue. What is it? That people want to know. Well, which one? You got a few to choose from.

SPEAKER_03

I do have a lot to choose from. Um I don't know that if I I'd say that like I come back to the first amazing Spider-Man a lot. That's a good one. It's really solid. Really good one. Uh uh also like I I know that they dated and they had their time. Um, but like the the chemistry. Yeah, great chemistry. The chemistry between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield is especially in that movie. It's I mean in the second one too. It's so genuine, it's so innocent, and it is heartbreaking in the end.

SPEAKER_01

Because that chemistry existed and it was so heartbreaking. Like that had to work for the other scene to work in No Way Home, you know? So good. That was my favorite part of that movie, No Way Home, for sure.

SPEAKER_03

MJ being saved.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I'm I'm also really happy that they chose for Andrew to be the one to save her, to like rewrite that mistake.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. That's and it was it was like they shot for shot.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and they also like all of these movies, and this is one of those things where I'm like, I don't understand how like copyright works. And there's so many different comic books, and they're all from different illustrators and writers and creatives, authors.

SPEAKER_04

I don't I am not well versed. And also then we have Miles Morales that I'm like, that is a whole another spider-verse, literally.

SPEAKER_03

Um, how do you how do you do that legally?

SPEAKER_01

Well, they all own the rights for the most part to all of it. It's Marvel. Now there's film rights, and then there's TV rights, and then there's there's also there's all sorts of rights to all sorts of different things.

SPEAKER_03

I could have been a lawyer, I did not choose to be. But that is one of those things where like maybe if I was a lawyer, I would know more.

SPEAKER_01

You would do very well at that, I think.

SPEAKER_03

My mom thought so too.

SPEAKER_01

I still think you considered that until just now, but you would do very well at that.

SPEAKER_03

I, yeah, that was gonna be if I wasn't an actor, I was gonna be a lawyer. Like my mom was prepared for law school. Yeah, and then I switched up on her. You said, Arts, baby. I was like, I think I was like nine or twelve, somewhere between that, where I was like, actually, I wouldn't I mean my first job that I wanted to do. Yeah, and I was like, it's not just because I don't have to read, but that much reading does a lot.

SPEAKER_01

Like it's so much, but you would do well in court, I think.

SPEAKER_03

I think I would do well in court. I think that I I can make a convincing case. Um, but I also have the problem of being like, what's the truth?

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Of like what really happened. Always do that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They have to be to fit the client.

SPEAKER_03

That's where I'm like, God, I don't know if I could sleep at night to be like my client was in the wrong and I knew that. But I was able to convince a jury.

SPEAKER_01

You have to convince twice otherwise that's not the case.

SPEAKER_03

And this will never be tried again.

SPEAKER_01

And if you do that successfully, you get lots and lots of money from a lot of terrible people. Yeah. Or you could be like a public defendant or like prosecuting attorney.

SPEAKER_03

Something.

SPEAKER_01

You would do go out as a prosecutor as well, actually. Something. Yeah. Because then we that way you're not defending anybody. You're attacking them.

SPEAKER_03

Come back to me later.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you're gonna go to law school at 38?

SPEAKER_03

Didn't Kim Kardashian do that?

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's Kim Kardashian.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I just passed the bar, actually, casually. I don't even need to study. I was like, God, no, I didn't want to read because I'm dyslexic, but and it just takes like I can read. It just takes like three times as long.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So then when something is already lengthy, and then I know it's gonna take me longer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because legal documents are not lengthy at all.

SPEAKER_03

I just want to do what's right.

SPEAKER_01

I know. All right, you have a very strong sense of morality, which we love that about you. Anyways, okay, my favorite superhero movie. I mean, this is so easy. Uh, it's the Dark Knight, for sure. No doubt about it.

SPEAKER_04

You know what? I'm surprised I didn't actually see that coming. I mean, come on.

SPEAKER_01

It's the Dark Knight, followed by The Dark Knight Rises and Batman Begins. I don't know which one of those is second and third, but those that's the top.

SPEAKER_03

Can you give me your best Batman impression?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_01

Um I don't bring my Batman mask. I can't be in character without the mask.

SPEAKER_03

Just cover your eyes and cover your eyes in the middle.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. Maybe one day. We'll see. Um The Dark Knight is so good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's my best contribu contribution.

SPEAKER_01

I also do like the Robert Pattinson Batman, by the way. That one was fun.

SPEAKER_03

Who is also gonna have a crazy next next one?

SPEAKER_01

Dude is about to have the craziest next year.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't even realize that he was in three movies with Zendaya together. I know. I was like, I'm so focused on my girl being taking over the entirety of 2026 that I was like, oh, Robert Pattinson is also in the world.

SPEAKER_01

Taking over the entirety of 2026. Like, yup.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. They're gonna be busy, girls. They are busy.

SPEAKER_01

I think that Is it the dramas at the Yes, the dramas they're in together.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm very excited.

SPEAKER_01

They're in all three of those movies together, technically. I don't think they're gonna be in any scenes in Odyssey together, though. But they're in He's the antagonist and she plays the goddess of Thina, so like I don't think that she's gonna appear to Matt Damon's character, probably.

SPEAKER_03

You never know. Maybe they're like, you know what else you want to do?

SPEAKER_01

They don't they don't I mean maybe else you want set.

SPEAKER_03

And then yes um Knuckles was modius of part three. Thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And they will most likely have scenes together. He's the protagonist or antagonist in that movie. I did not recognize him when I watched that Dune trailer at all. I forgot he was in the movie until at the end it showed the Catalyst, and I went, wait, Robert Patton's. Why was he?

SPEAKER_03

Who got me for that last time? Austin Butler.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That I was like, no fucking way.

SPEAKER_01

There's Dune again. Yeah. Which by the way, they shot Dune part three on IMAX 15 per film, not digital. We love that. We love that. It's the best film. So did Sinners.

SPEAKER_03

Don't be knocking on IMAX films. I'm not, it's just the way you said it.

SPEAKER_01

We love it. It does look quite pretty, but Greg Frazier didn't show. Fuck Trump. By the way, what?

SPEAKER_03

Because that was the impression. No, I didn't know that's what you were doing. That's what it sounded like when you said that. That's why I was like, something good.

SPEAKER_01

I wasn't even trying to do that, but fair enough. Uh I was gonna say also, we have the battle of the three greatest composers in Hollywood this year.

SPEAKER_03

Because You're like, actually, next year's Oscars is where I'm gonna be terrified for this category.

SPEAKER_01

That is very true. Because Ludwig Gorensen is doing the Odyssey, John Williams is doing his name so easily. I've said it a few times. John Williams is doing Disclosure Day, Spielberg's new movie, and Hans Dimmer's doing Doom Part Three. Like, we got all the goats doing scores. Disclosure Day, by the way. Have you seen the trailers for that? The new Spielberg movie? Looks really good. Looks really good. Looks like a classic Spiel. It looks like just like E.T.

SPEAKER_03

Do you wanna do you wanna make a year prediction right now?

SPEAKER_01

Which one of those ends up winning? Yeah. It's not gonna be disclosure day, probably. For for score, it'll be probably Odyssey, I had to guess.

SPEAKER_03

Because Dune is on a streak.

SPEAKER_01

Dune is a part three. It's gonna be relatively I'm sh no offense to Hans Zimmer. There's gonna be similar themes in there because you're having to follow the same motifs. However, Hans, you have done a trilogy in the past, Pie to the Caribbean and The Dark Knight. The third Pie to the Caribbean score is the best of the three. It is so good.

SPEAKER_03

I remember I had a friend in high school that like when we were like going to like theater festivals, that like when she needed to like lock the fuck in, would play the soundtrack like on the way to the like on the bus, on the way. Yes, all the way to the fucking college.

SPEAKER_01

But like the third. And would just be like in their monologue. The Will Turner and Elizabeth the Elizabeth and Will theme when they get married on the book.

SPEAKER_03

Everything is so good.

SPEAKER_01

It's so good.

SPEAKER_03

Photo shoot idea.

SPEAKER_01

What's that?

SPEAKER_03

It was part of the character.

SPEAKER_01

Fun. Alright. Um, back to superhero movies. Yeah. Dark Knight. I don't really need to say anything. It's a phenomenal movie. Um of the greatest performances ever put together.

SPEAKER_03

We're losing people.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Do you know what else? Here's the thing. We're getting older. So we're Shut the fuck up. So we're more aware of these people that continue dying. Like when we were younger, we were like, I don't know who this is when you watch the Immemorium at the Oscars. But now we're like, we're knowing these people for years.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, you've like.

SPEAKER_01

We've grown up with these people, and now it's like before you were like, I don't know who that is, or like, oh, I've seen like one thing with them, and it's not as like heartwarming and in your like Rob Reiner, you know. Like, oh my gosh. Anyways, um it's hard to get older. And we're relatively quite young, actually. No, not relatively. We are quite young in the grand scheme of things.

SPEAKER_03

Catherine and I hurt. That one hurt. That was so unexpected for me.

SPEAKER_01

And I remember swatched home alone like three weeks ago.

SPEAKER_03

I remember like I was talking with my brother, and we were both just like, Catherine?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, fuck it. I know.

SPEAKER_03

Out of nowhere.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Anyways. My grandma passed away later. Life is hard a little bit later.

SPEAKER_03

Because the reason we were talking about Catherine O'Hara is because we're like, God, you just never know. Yeah. And she died so young, and we're like, that was crazy. And then because we were talking, like, my grandma did this thing, um, and we were just like, I don't know, like it feels like she's prepping. We were like, I don't want to say that, I don't wanna, I don't want to assume. Yeah.

unknown

Damn.

SPEAKER_03

And we're like, I really thought I had 10 more years.

SPEAKER_01

No, I get that. That's fair. You never have enough time, even if you had those 10 more years.

SPEAKER_03

And I've had so much time and I'm so grateful. Most I feel like, yeah, most people, like even like my youngest cousin, like he lost her at 14.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

And I feel like most people like lose their grandparent around like nine.

SPEAKER_01

My first grandparent died, uh, it was 14.

SPEAKER_03

Like between those ages is like the average of when people lose their grandparents. And I'm like, I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_01

Right, because people are usually in their 30s or 40s when they start to lose their parents, you know. So like depending on what? What? I'm just saying, my mom's mom died when she was 39. My grandma, I was 14.

unknown

Oh, fuck.

SPEAKER_01

People start to lose their parents when they get in their later 30s and 40s and 50s.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, that's just don't ask me why I forgot. I was like, That's how life works. My grandmother was also a parent.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Fuck.

SPEAKER_03

She Fuck. Well, uh, my mom is uh 58. So she's had she's had a lot of time.

SPEAKER_01

That's pretty solid.

SPEAKER_03

I mean I can't, I really I truly I can't complain. She did really she I've had a lot of time with her. That's really cool. It's a blessing.

SPEAKER_01

Blessing. A blessing. Time is a blessing. Health is a blessing. We're talking about movies. Um uh we wanted to do a Marvel DC discussion.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um Do you have a favorite?

SPEAKER_01

I think that DC has higher highs and lower lows.

SPEAKER_03

Explain.

SPEAKER_01

Some of their bad stuff is really bad. Not naming any names. Suicide Squad. Um Green Lantern. Um some of their good stuff is really good in the Dark Knight trilogy. Batman.

SPEAKER_03

Name another one that was good.

SPEAKER_01

Um Man of Steel is good.

SPEAKER_04

Oh fuck, you're right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. God damn it. That's a good one. No, it was. I like Snyder Cut. It was four hours, but that was a good time.

SPEAKER_03

I listen, I'm I I also I work at Disney, so I'm surrounded by Marvel. So Sure.

SPEAKER_01

Marvel.

SPEAKER_03

I I have it I have my love and I have my issues. Marvel's most.

SPEAKER_01

For me, it like started. Up here with Iron Man.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And like Thor's good, not as good as Iron Man, but like Captain America was solid. The first Avengers movie, it was it was just kind of on this upper trajectory. We had some great movies after great movies. And then Endgame hit and it was like peak.

SPEAKER_03

I remember like waking up the next day after. I remember the waking up the next day after Endgame.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Fucking distraught.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Like I was like, oh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, Infinity War did that to most of us too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I was like, oh my God. No, they're not going back.

SPEAKER_01

But the problem is. That they came back. They all came back. This is what I was getting to with the beginning with the Spider-Man thing. It was like all of that. I was okay with the Infinity War is completely erased because they're all back. But yes, I know we'd lose Iron Man.

SPEAKER_03

I was okay with them all coming back for endgame. Like that was that was fine. Yeah, that I think that was that was that was great for me. Where I'm like, okay, it is when it gets to like multiverse of madness and like using the multiverse as like a way to like, oh, I could always bring somebody in. Or like, and one thing where I was like, this, I, and I can't tell if this was like on purpose to be like a giant slap in the face. Did you see Loki, the series?

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_03

But like they had um it and it's like the quickest low, like throw not to say low-key, I can't I'm trying not to, anyways. It was like such like a fast, like throwaway scene of like he is like, do you need any explaining for the show? No. Okay. Um, so he is like, I was like time, space, continuum, office. Um, when they're in the TVA, and this guy opens up a drawer and it's all of these like different infinity stones. And it's just like, it's all of the times that like they have tried in different universes to like fix this, or like Doctor Strange is like, I've done every probability, this is the way that it has to be. Sure. And it's just be like, oh yeah, we use the line was we use them as paperweights because to them, it doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_01

Lovely, right?

SPEAKER_03

Well, not I mean, like, not to Marvel, it doesn't matter, but like for these characters that work in like in the TVA, they're like, Yeah, yeah, time comes and goes, timelines end, they merge together, they split apart, and we fix it. We're just trying to keep it all in one.

SPEAKER_01

Trying to keep the whole universe from nothing.

SPEAKER_03

That I was like, So much that we went through, and you use it as a paperweight something that shot me hard. Yeah, I don't like that. That I had to like pause and like take a second, and then I was like, okay. Um, I was like, fuck, dude. Damn. Anyways, I feel like my um my love with with Marvel is still high, clearly.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, but that's that's not the MP.

SPEAKER_03

But you also I know, but you also have so many variants of your own, baby. Um, that I love all of them.

SPEAKER_01

It's true. But um Spider-Verse might be one of the best ones.

SPEAKER_03

Miles is really good, it's really good storyline. It's really interesting. And see, that's like another one.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, that's a way of using the multiverse. And like, these are all extremely different uniforms.

SPEAKER_01

It's crazy different versions. Like instead of like, oh, we're just gonna go get that Iron Man and bring him over here.

SPEAKER_03

The exact same guy from a different timeline that might have experienced three different things.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just gonna, for a second, we obviously know Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom in the new adventures movie.

SPEAKER_03

How did you feel for that reveal?

SPEAKER_01

I hate it.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't know how it was gonna go because I'm like, is he are they gonna alter his face?

SPEAKER_01

Are they gonna just revive Iron Man and be making the evil? Is that how that movie's gonna open?

SPEAKER_03

But I will say I I love this.

SPEAKER_01

Yet again, I get back to why are we undoing our what or are we undoing what we've written? We've already done this, like he needs to be gone because that just reveals it just and then the arms out.

SPEAKER_00

It was epic. That was so good.

SPEAKER_01

But there's gonna be like lots of Doctor Dooms, maybe because it's a multiverse. I don't know. Maybe they're gonna go to a different universe where Iron Man was never Iron Man and he was a villain, and that's what it is, and it's Tony Stark became Doctor Doom. I don't know. That's not how the comics go. But you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

Like he never becomes Iron Man, he becomes Doctor Doom and Yeah, like Civil War actually like is a completely different story, and it's like, you know what? Iron Man actually just turned into a fucking monster during Civil War, and it was just like I'm gonna murk you all.

SPEAKER_01

I wouldn't put it past him. I'm just cautious with them.

SPEAKER_03

That's fair. They've uh I feel like done it too much to me. Once Disney Plus became a streaming service, and they were like, we need to put out content after content after content. Because it used to be one movie a year.

SPEAKER_01

If that.

SPEAKER_03

If that. And it was like, well, it was like one of those things where like you'll get now.

SPEAKER_01

It's one movie a quarter.

SPEAKER_03

Not even that.

SPEAKER_01

Weekly basis. Sometimes it is literally like every month there's a new Marvel movie coming out, and then the weeks in between there's a show.

SPEAKER_03

A new series, yeah, um, a new cartoon.

SPEAKER_01

Your weekly Disney Plus new content. Yeah. And half of it's Marvel and then some of it's Star Wars. And I'm glad that's because the Star Wars content was very poor outside of Andor's pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

It's it's a lot to put out.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I know.

SPEAKER_03

And uh But it's like at what quality?

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

And it's like uh I I haven't even seen all of it.

SPEAKER_01

Like the CG.

SPEAKER_03

And that's like I I I hate to judge something that I haven't seen, but it's just like I'm still trying to catch up on things, and then you have other things in in different networks barded with content.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Really well-made content, and it makes it not as fun. So if you're gonna tell me that a show is only okay, I don't have time to only watch okay at this point. There's just so much out there that the amount of things on my list of things to watch that I have people telling me, oh my god, this is my favorite thing ever. It's so good, you're gonna love it. Like, there's dozens and dozens and dozens of things on my list to watch, of things in that category. So when am I gonna get around to watching something that I know is only gonna be mediocre, but it's like part of a universe that I enjoy. So, like, when am I ever gonna press play on that?

SPEAKER_03

And it's like, how much information from this series are they going to use in their like main timeline?

SPEAKER_01

And Marvel started doing that actually a long time ago. It was the Agents of Shield show.

SPEAKER_03

But I will say, I watched that show. Jumping. I liked the Last Guardians movie.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, did you? I haven't seen it. It I know you liked the uh Wasn't Forents P in there?

SPEAKER_03

I did cry. Oh, no, Thunderbolts?

SPEAKER_01

That's Thunderbolts, yeah. Thunderbolts! I haven't seen that either. See, I've just totally uh stopped doing the Marvel thing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but those were the movies where we're like, I feel back. I felt back.

SPEAKER_01

Those kind of feel more like a Guardians of the Galaxy kind of like new twist with a new team kind of thing.

SPEAKER_03

But not it, it was giving I don't want to say it was giving, like, because Deadpool also came out. Deadpool and Wolverine came out. Um Deadpool's pretty good. Where you like need some sort of like grounding reality humor where like I need you to be slightly haha funny raunchy, um or like a little realistic with the humor sometimes in those Marvel movies. Um I feel like I'm contradicting myself, and you know what? I'm sure to a point that I am because like in like the context of like Spider-Man in the trailer when he's like mother and he covers his up, and I'm like, that's so one brand for you. Love it, love to see it. Um but I also like but it's even to be like you were so close to saying the F word, and I love that not to always be so like Captain America clean.

SPEAKER_01

Sure, Deadpool's certainly not that, no, not at all.

SPEAKER_03

But like, um, and I'm not Chris Pratt's biggest fan, but a a Star Lord balance, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um there's if I had if we wrote scripts, maybe there'd be a better way to like write that out, but this is off the dome.

SPEAKER_01

We write scripts, what are you talking about?

SPEAKER_03

Not this one.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe we should. We don't even you want to peek? I text Harrison, what are we gonna talk about today? And and then he's like, sounds good. That's what we do. There is no, there's not even bullet points sometimes.

SPEAKER_01

I have notes a lot of times, not today. This is a professional show.

SPEAKER_03

Um what were we talking about? Right. We're talking about movies. Right, right, right, right, right.

SPEAKER_00

So Marvel VC, I guess, is really what you were talking about. I kind of gave my take on it and you were kind of going with your I ramble. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um, right. I'm a really good writer. I think that like, you know, my my um my thoughts, ideas, my opinions are very clear and concise when I write them. When I speak them off of nothing, girl, it's and I'm not medicated. Um neither am I.

SPEAKER_01

Probably should be. Here we are.

SPEAKER_03

Woo! One day. No, I won't.

SPEAKER_01

No, we won't. Probably not. Um self-medicate.

SPEAKER_03

All of that to say all of the mess to say is that I think that even Marvel's lows are higher than DC's lows.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

And that is why I think that Marvel is better than DC.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that's fair.

SPEAKER_03

I've never given it's not my only reason, but it's it's one of my defining reasons.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I don't know. The last few years has really brought the average score down for Marvel.

SPEAKER_03

But I feel like they're up, and they're they're up in how many fucking years was Superman.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Superman has had some interesting renditions for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Name and how many years before?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, the iconic John Williams score from the classic Superman is pretty great. And then there was that Superman Returns, was like 2005, I think. That one was interesting.

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_01

And then you had Man of Steel in 2013. I've I would not give, in my opinion, there's not a single Marvel movie that I'd give like an A plus to. But there's plenty of A's and B's and C's in there. There's a a couple of DC A pluses, but there's also a couple of Fs, and there's not a lot of Marvel F's.

SPEAKER_03

Not as many.

SPEAKER_01

Not as many. Actually.

SPEAKER_03

C minus. Don't shut. Don't don't talk about the C minuses. No, we don't need to talk about C minus.

SPEAKER_01

I was just saying. But A's and B's, girl. Marvel's actually put out quite a few Fs since Endgame, in my opinion. If we just if they had if we were to have this conversation in 2019, no doubt about it, Marvel would win.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_01

But they have put out some.

SPEAKER_03

Do you think maybe they were compensating for COVID?

SPEAKER_01

I think that they were like everybody's everyone's home. We have to put content out. No, go go, go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Doesn't matter if it's good. We gotta keep everybody home. Because I think that, like, I think that WandaVision and Loki were good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But then they just kept going with the show thing. And like, I and I still haven't understand that.

SPEAKER_03

I've seen so many of them, and I feel bad that I haven't seen any of them, and I'm like pre-judging them before I'm I'm listening to other people's opinions, but that I when you have so much to watch, and other people have seen this thing that, like, oh, you're like, yes, I love Marvel. I'm gonna watch this thing, and they're like, I watched it, it wasn't the best, but hey, I think that this scene was funny.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna watch Bridgerton.

SPEAKER_01

Right. I'm gonna go watch a comfort show or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

You know, that was that was one of my yeah, I we because Bridgerton came out in 2020. Um, what else came out in 2020? That was like that was the one Ted Lasso. No, it was that was my COVID show. Um, The Wilds.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't seen that.

SPEAKER_03

It it's good. It's only two seasons, unfortunately, got canceled after that. But it it's Lord of the Flies with girls. Ah, fun. Really good, really, really good.

SPEAKER_01

Fun, fun, fun. Okay. Those are my add that to the list of bazillion things I need to watch.

SPEAKER_03

I'm so sorry. But at least I can tell you it was good. Okay. And I enjoyed.

SPEAKER_01

Anything else you'd like to add on the Marvel DC front before we move on to what we've been watching recently.

SPEAKER_03

I I I have had this dream of being a superhero in the Marvel universe since I was a child.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And I so I'm putting this out there. I I would absolutely love to be part of one of those maybe like a brand new story. Maybe we started a whole a whole brand new superhero for Marvel and to be like, we're so fucking back.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, we just had a Superman movie just come out. That movie was also pretty good. I forgot about that one. What the heck? How'd I forget about that?

SPEAKER_03

Were we not talking about the same Superman?

SPEAKER_01

No. I was talking about other Supermen. I'm an idiot. Anyways.

SPEAKER_03

That is the one that I was like, yeah, DC got a leg up. Because before that, Fantastic Four wasn't bad.

SPEAKER_01

The newest one for Cascow.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The first time they've done a Fantastic. Well, they moved out right next to each other.

SPEAKER_03

Because I was like, that's not DC.

SPEAKER_01

No, I was just like, for the first time.

SPEAKER_03

You scared me for a second. I was like, hold on.

SPEAKER_01

They kind of nailed a Superman for DC.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they did.

SPEAKER_01

And they finally nailed Fantastic IV.

SPEAKER_03

They came out at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

I know. They actually nailed those two IPs have been a struggle bus for a number of years for both of those companies to get it.

SPEAKER_03

You remember the original Fantastic?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I remember Chris Evans. The OG Chris Evans Marvel role. That was not those were not very good movies. As nostalgic as they might be.

SPEAKER_03

And then there was the boys on Amazon.

SPEAKER_01

Well, then there's that.

SPEAKER_03

Then there's that. That's a whole and Invincible came out last night. Have you seen Invincible? No.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, how do you feel?

SPEAKER_02

It's so good. It's so good. You watch the boys.

SPEAKER_01

I don't really know. I know a lot of people like that.

SPEAKER_03

God bless you, Seth Rogan, for making these shows. They're so fucking good.

SPEAKER_01

The studio.

SPEAKER_03

They're also phenomenal. So good. You he just puts out incredible work. The boys and Invincible are I didn't know he did Invincible.

SPEAKER_01

Nice.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like I need to fat check that now.

SPEAKER_01

But um I'll tell I'll say you're right. I don't know the answer, so I'll just assume you're right. I want to say that I'm right about that.

SPEAKER_03

Because it was very much giving like um they're not one and the same, but it is giving like the realistic side of if superheroes were in like our modern day society today.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely those boys for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but it's all like Invincible is that animated.

SPEAKER_01

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_03

Um, in a way.

SPEAKER_01

So I probably won't watch it.

SPEAKER_03

It's good.

SPEAKER_01

I don't watch things that are animated.

SPEAKER_03

You're gonna love it. You're going to love it. Haven't we been over the same way that you love it?

SPEAKER_01

This is your job. Uh technically, this pays me nothing, and my actual job is your job? Not this.

SPEAKER_03

This is your job. Your job is to understand stories that other people have put out.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. But where's the line draw on what stories?

SPEAKER_03

None. Because you also gotta do it. And you also have to watch I know that they they go lower on the list, but sometimes you gotta watch things that maybe you're not gonna like. Listen, I do that all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Just to be like, I've seen that, so now I can make a I can make commentary on that and have an opinion.

SPEAKER_03

A better commentary than being like I heard other people.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, or I heard people liked it. Is it bad that I forgot that Superman movie even existed in Twitter?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, that is so bad because it's so good.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not good because it's not memorable enough for me that I literally forgot it existed. It That's bad.

SPEAKER_03

It was a culture shift.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that's just me.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe I was just in in the circles that I was running in, that was a culture shift.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not running in those circles, clearly.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I'm not sure. It was also that like, you know, we drew a lot of um real life.

SPEAKER_01

There's yeah, there's that. Have you seen what is it?

SPEAKER_03

Come into C like Grunge. My mom, my mom had the biggest crush on on uh Arrow. Yeah. Yes. I have a video of her like buried in my Snapchat.

SPEAKER_01

And she's just like, did you ever watch Marvel Agents of Shield, by the way? You did not. I actually watched it.

SPEAKER_03

I watched The Flash on CW. That's so funny.

SPEAKER_01

They've been doing this for a while, the whole superhero shows that are kind of separate from the movies. Now they're like integrating them, obviously. Anyways, what have you been watching that you'd like to share with the class?

SPEAKER_03

I in a way, a different superhero. Stranger Things. Eleven. Eleven.

SPEAKER_01

Or Will the Wise.

SPEAKER_03

I'm annoyed a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, let me hear it. Here we go. This is Bella's take on the Stranger Things Man.

SPEAKER_03

I love Stranger Things. Stranger Things has meant so much to me. I I I I'll make this very, very fucking clear. I stand by Palestine until the day that I fucking die. And so I was very, very conflicted about watching Stranger Things. And then I it kind of came to a point of where I'm like, I don't think I'll enjoy not to say anything, but a lot of things. Where I'm like, is it fair to give like a split cast with different political views? Like that I'm like, if half of you are on one side and half are the other, like do I just throw the whole thing away when this thing meant so much to me in my older formative years?

SPEAKER_01

Depends on how strong your morals are and feelings on that, or I guess.

SPEAKER_03

I battled.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um and so I was like, I'm gonna watch it when it's not a spot it, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that was your way of uh not adding to the popular numbers.

SPEAKER_03

I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Um But it is your job, you know. It's my job.

SPEAKER_03

We're like the same thing we're like um with Snow White. I didn't watch it in theaters. I watched it when it went to Disney Plus that I do not pay for because I work at Disney, which is also like so you just give hours and hours of your time to Disney instead. They pay me money. I'm taking money from them. That's true. It's better than going to someone with uh that agrees with them all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's true. Um, anyways, I think eleven should have just died. I mean, maybe she did.

SPEAKER_04

She didn't! For and then also for Mike to just like hold on to this for 18 fucking months? Hello?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, huh? Yeah, it was lame.

SPEAKER_03

Guys, let's graduate and then um we're gonna play one last D D game. And I was okay with that until he was like, guys, think about it.

SPEAKER_04

He was so fucking deadass about it. He was like, guys, think about it. What what would block off this power?

SPEAKER_03

This this sonic cloak, if you will.

SPEAKER_05

Um and they'd be like, Yeah, uh Elle and her sister are dead, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And then they're like, then she's not actually dead, but she could be dead to us in a way because she will probably never see her again because she's gonna go to some remote town and live out her days.

SPEAKER_01

It's the exact same thing I was complaining about with the Marvel thing. Like, it just let it, if you make the decision, like to kill her.

SPEAKER_03

Kill her.

SPEAKER_01

Narratively, that's okay. Made a lot of sense.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like for her character, as a way of bookending it, like that she's the one that started this, and she's gonna be the one to end it. And there you go.

SPEAKER_03

And no one else died.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty much, which was other than her sister, RIP Sean Aston in the second season.

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's like well, the other thing is that like I felt like every time that they introduced a new character, that character was gonna die.

SPEAKER_01

Well, not Robin. I thought she was gonna die.

SPEAKER_03

I sure'm happy Robin died.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm I'm too.

SPEAKER_03

I was, I I was like I thought in their gay moments together, Jonathan had to die.

SPEAKER_01

With Will and Robin.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, that's sweet.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Did you see the fan theory that the very first episode, the demogorgon that abducts Will wasn't a Demogorgon, it was actually Vecna.

SPEAKER_03

I did not see that.

SPEAKER_01

I wish that that was true. That they like made that they had wrapped that up because bringing young Will back was interesting. That was interesting.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't see that one coming.

SPEAKER_01

If you pay attention, if you go rewatch that scene, I'll go back. The demogorgons never use telekinetic powers in the show, right? They're just creatures with four. Uh the door lock on his thing just slides open magically in that scene. Demogs and demagorgons do not do that.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_01

Ever.

SPEAKER_03

No, they don't really use their hands.

SPEAKER_01

They don't they use their mouth. That's about it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They have four legs mainly, really.

SPEAKER_03

Right. It's really just a leg.

SPEAKER_01

And they just stand on their hind legs and slash. They're like big bears, basically. I mean, they don't use magic powers ever. Except in that one scene, right? And like it the shadow kind of looks like that. Anyways, they didn't do that, obviously, but man, that would have been a fun little he took way. At the very, very beginning.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like that was always back now. Would have been good.

SPEAKER_01

That would have been fun. They didn't do that.

SPEAKER_03

Happy.

SPEAKER_01

Strange things overall is a good show. I had a good show. Glad we watched it and it was part of the that guys. Good God, did it need to wrap up like five, ten years earlier? Not ten, that came out ten years ago.

SPEAKER_03

They did their best.

SPEAKER_01

Five seasons in what is it, eleven years?

SPEAKER_03

I thought it was like nine.

SPEAKER_01

But maybe it was.

unknown

Don't ask me.

SPEAKER_01

Uh when you're doing a show with kids set in middle school and high school, you can't let them hit their 30s. I'm sorry. You just can't. They're supposed to be researching.

SPEAKER_03

How do you feel about Max being able to graduate?

SPEAKER_01

I know. Yeah, she really did all that schoolwork from her coma.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Maybe she's just smart enough. I don't know. You never know.

SPEAKER_01

You never know.

SPEAKER_03

Right. How do you feel about I saw people commenting that they're like upset that Dustin mourned Eddie more than he mourned Elle.

SPEAKER_01

I I do have to say on Dustin, I did not love his character in this season.

SPEAKER_03

I think he he just became Eddie.

SPEAKER_01

Right. He became And like I I like where he ended up. I thought it was a little bit just drama for the sake of drama to have him and uh um Jonathan's not Jonathan. Steve Steve's like feuding throughout the middle of the season. I I get why, right? No one else is, you know, taking like understanding we just lost Eddie and like he's the only one remembering him. Like I love that, and like I trust, you know. But it was almost like people gotta remember you if when you're gone, or else Right.

SPEAKER_03

With so many people that have died. I know Barb and Alexi. Yeah, Bob. Um, Bob. Um, Yosef, Mac's older brother.

SPEAKER_01

Um Billy.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Right. She mourned him correctly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I thought that was really well done.

SPEAKER_03

Um, not correctly, I shouldn't say that.

SPEAKER_01

That was there's only one way to mourn.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_01

The correct way or the not correct way.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like it was Is that what you're trying to say? No, but it just the way that it was like shown on screen.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I thought that was really weird. Save Sing's a really good actor.

SPEAKER_03

That she's such a good actor. I wish that I had seen her on Broadway.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I wish that I had also seen Ga- As Annie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Her very first. Um, I wish I had also seen Gayton in um Sweeney Todd.

SPEAKER_01

Who knows? Maybe they'll go back and do more.

SPEAKER_03

But he's not gonna play too much.

SPEAKER_01

No, I know, but you know, like you're like, you wanna just see them on stage again, though, maybe. Who knows?

unknown

One day.

SPEAKER_03

I I I love when Shakespeare gets brought into the modern day. Yeah. Like, have you seen uh right? Um, but Hamlet.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Um, who who was it that did that?

SPEAKER_01

Uh God The Lion King.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_01

Which is exactly what that movie is, by the way. Brought home. You're talking about the tragedy of Macbeth, right? The Denzel Washington is it's literally just like Macbeth. It's the it's the Macbeth play, like on film.

SPEAKER_03

Where I do you believe in that curse?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_03

I would assume not since you said it here.

SPEAKER_01

What? Macbeth?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. They're not supposed to say Macbeth.

SPEAKER_01

I'm aware.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

It's the name of a story.

SPEAKER_03

I know.

SPEAKER_01

You said it too.

SPEAKER_03

I think that um I'm Filipino. A lot of us are superstitious. That's like a stereotype for us. I think if you are doing the play, I would avoid it. If you are not in it currently, cast or crew.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. There you go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You can you can follow the superstition for some.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like when you're I mean, you don't. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna be the reason. Say whatever you want. That like sud that a light mysteriously falls.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That it wasn't rigged properly.

SPEAKER_01

No light above us. We're good.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah. But um, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Anything else uh you've been watching that we want to address? I've still just been watching Clarkson's Farm, which is a lovely wholesome show that I've been just re-watching because I'm going there uh in July. So me and Amanda have just been watching all the seasons of that, and that's pretty much all we've been watching. What's that?

SPEAKER_00

I watched F1. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

You mean the Oscar winner for best sound?

SPEAKER_00

Yes!

SPEAKER_03

Uh and it yeah, I had a good time. It's a good time. And the whole time that I was sitting there, my boyfriend was just teaching me about F1, and you know what? And the whole time here's Carom. Car Gove Room. And I was very much like, I don't know truly almost anything about F1. But there's also so many times where I was like, that's illegal. There's no way you could do that in a race, and they just let you keep going. And he was like, Yeah, but this is movie, so have fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And I was like, intentionally crashing over and over.

SPEAKER_03

Gravel on the track, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that one sequence in Hungary, which is the second major race in the movie, is egregious to the rules of F1. The dude would have been black flag, which means just disqualified for that.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, Yeah, and this one Jonathan was like, hey, if somebody else is like running a different lap than you, you cannot like Yeah, you're supposed to let them buy back to three corners. Yeah, you have to let them go past you because they're running a different race, but you're fucking with their time.

SPEAKER_01

And then to then if them run into you, like you would be.

SPEAKER_03

You're gonna break someone's core repeat.

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna be disqualified so fast.

SPEAKER_03

Like three times the same rate?

SPEAKER_01

So fast.

SPEAKER_03

Crazy, crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Is it a lot of fun? Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Did I have so much fun watching it? It is absolutely funny.

SPEAKER_01

I really like the opening.

SPEAKER_03

So much so the I was like, you know what?

SPEAKER_02

I'll watch, I'll watch Survive to Drive to Survive. Drive to Survive.

SPEAKER_01

The first season of that show is really fun. The second season's fun. It becomes a little bit more um staged, I guess, because Oh, I was gonna I thought you were gonna say stagnant.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, I guess there's only so much you can do.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I've I watch F1, right? So like I already know what's gonna happen, so I can see where they're like using editing and like stuff to make it more dramatic because it's a TV show. But back when the shows first started, they just were like flies on the wall viewing real action. Now it's like every driver and team knows up, we're gonna have Netflix crews following us this weekend. So be on your best behavior. Don't say anything weird, like don't have any, like it's it's super weird.

SPEAKER_00

Weird?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's it's artificial now. It's like all the teams like know they're being recorded. Before there was like drama because it was like they weren't used to cameras and mics being all over the place and they'd have private conversations. People almost die in the F1 show from brutal car accidents, and you get their live reactions to that.

SPEAKER_03

I'll save the day.

SPEAKER_01

So there's that. Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Not under my roof.

SPEAKER_01

Your friendly neighborhood, Bella. All right. Well, that wraps it up for this week's episode. Thank you so much for watching. Uh, this comes out uh Friday at noon. Every Friday at noon, we got episodes coming out on YouTube and Apple Podcasts. So like, comment, subscribe, as they say.

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_03

Bye. That's a wrap.
