Welcome to the Shot On Film Podcast You didn't like that one as much.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_01Because I missed last week.
SPEAKER_04A little extra.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04All right. Welcome back. We're together again.
SPEAKER_01We're going to talk about comfort movies.
SPEAKER_04Comfort movies.
SPEAKER_01As I as as everything in my mouth right now is so uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_04Appropriate.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Well, let's start off.
SPEAKER_01What are your comfort movies?
SPEAKER_04Oh, I was going to say, uh, let the people know how you were uh doing on set last week.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I can't even talk about that.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_01Um, I didn't sign like a NDA. I did sign an NDA. I can't talk about what I was doing.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's fine. Noted last week.
SPEAKER_01But it was fun. I was having a good time. I made a new friend, and her name is Quinn. I love her deeply. Um, I had a whole Filipino crew, and we're gonna be friends forever.
SPEAKER_04Love it. That's why Bella wasn't here. She's working a 70-hour work week on set.
SPEAKER_01It was the longest set I've ever been a part of.
SPEAKER_04Good stuff.
SPEAKER_01God, I can't wait for that picture.
SPEAKER_04And that's why we need comforting movies, because we're tired.
SPEAKER_01Thank you.
SPEAKER_04So, well, I guess we're gonna talk movies and shows, but movies.
SPEAKER_01Um movies always come first.
SPEAKER_04Movies come first. I will start number one comfort movie, and this will surprise you. The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I didn't expect that at all, actually. That's really the OG.
SPEAKER_04The OG from the 70s.
SPEAKER_02Aww.
SPEAKER_04I watch that whenever I'm sad and need a pick-me-up. It's so wholesome.
SPEAKER_01That explains some decorations around your house now.
SPEAKER_04True. I usually watch at least the scene where Tigger meets Pooh.
SPEAKER_01Best friend.
SPEAKER_04It's the best.
SPEAKER_01Aww. T I double gird, that's but Tigger.
SPEAKER_04Yes, it does. I love Winnie the Pooh.
SPEAKER_01I wanna I do question some of their names though, who I'm like, why is your name just Piglet, but yours is Tigger? Like, it could have just been Tiger. But they're like, that's not enough.
SPEAKER_04Rabbit's just rabbit.
SPEAKER_01And Pooh Bear is Pooh Bear.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Have you seen the uh the theory that they're all different uh mental illnesses?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Which one did you get?
SPEAKER_04I mean, I'm not Pooh Bear.
SPEAKER_01Which one's Pooh Bear?
SPEAKER_04Uh isn't he Pull it up? Um eating disorder.
SPEAKER_01Is he an eating disorder? I mean I guess I could have guessed that.
SPEAKER_04What are the Winnie the Pooh?
SPEAKER_01Who is OCD?
SPEAKER_04Gotta be Rabbit, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think so, right? It's been a second since I've watched Winnie the Pooh. I don't I don't think I've watched Winnie the Pooh since I was a child.
SPEAKER_04Oh Winnie the Pooh, ADHD in attentiveness and binge eating disorder.
SPEAKER_01You get a trifecta.
SPEAKER_04Tiglet in general is anxiety disorder, yeah. Well that'll do it. It's so relatable. Eeyore.
SPEAKER_01Depression.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Uh Tigger is actually ADHD, though. Um Rabbit is OCD, owl's narcissistic personality disorder, or dyslexia. Uh Rue is autism. Uh Kenga is social anxiety disorder. Christopher Robin's schizophrenia, as all the characters could just be manifestations of his imagination.
SPEAKER_01Damn. And that gave you such comfort. So much comfort. Still does. I'm not alone.
SPEAKER_04Yup. Gotta love those little animated animals.
SPEAKER_01That's adorable.
SPEAKER_04It's a great time.
SPEAKER_01My my comfort movie is newer. I'm trying to think of like what I watched before this, but this this is one that always comes to mind for me. Is it so lame?
SPEAKER_02It's not lame, it means so much to me, but when I like say it out loud, I'm like, I know I'm just a girl.
SPEAKER_01To all the boys I love before.
SPEAKER_04That is newer.
SPEAKER_01Gets me. Oh, Peter Kavinsky, please.
SPEAKER_04You have the floor.
SPEAKER_01You want to hear something, and this could stay here. I I this stays for the listeners, especially the one in uh Virginia that downloads all of our things. This one's for you, babes. Um, so I had a boyfriend at a time. You met him.
SPEAKER_04Yep. I don't know where you're going with this. I've met a couple of your boyfriends. Go on.
SPEAKER_02The one we lived with.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay. All right. Narrows it down a little bit.
SPEAKER_01I remember that I had um I had a dream that like I was in a movie with Noah, and like we were just meeting for the first time, and he like went to like give me a hug, and then we were just like holding hands. No reason, just staring at each other, like smiling, blushing, and just holding hands. And I was like, and then it's very comforting. And then, and then um my boyfriend at the time came up and was like, Hey, nice to meet you. And Noah's like, nice to meet you, dude. Still holding my hand. Uh and he's like, What's uh what's going on here? And I was like, Nothing, we're just meeting. And he was like, Are you gonna let go of his hand? And I said, Oh, I don't really want to. And he was like, You're gonna cheat on me. I I even like in the dream, and when I woke up, he was like, So you're gonna cheat on me with Noah. And I was like, No, because I don't know him.
SPEAKER_04But that's it.
SPEAKER_01And that's it's all no no no no no no no. I will I'm not I'm not the type of girl.
SPEAKER_00But it was really funny in the dream to be like He thinks I'm he thinks I'm pretty and he won't let go of my hand.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Is there anything comforting about the movie outside of your dreams?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I love I love I'm just like a little hopeless romantic and I love I love romance.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I like watching, uh, especially with um the characters Lara Jean and uh Peter Kavinsky, that like it's so genuine. Like even if it like starts off with like fake relationship type shit, and then there's a scene with them like really getting to know each other in the kitchen that I'm like, I know the scene. Y'all are it's so honest.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That I'm like, I love and then now you guys just fall in love together, and everybody loves you, and now there's a whole series with her little or little sister, and it came out, and I'm so excited to watch. I haven't been able to sit down and watch it yet.
SPEAKER_04Do it and we can talk about that on the show.
SPEAKER_00Talk about XOXO Kitty.
SPEAKER_04There you go. To all the boys I loved before. A bit of a different uh kind of movie than uh Winnie the Pooh.
SPEAKER_01It's a yeah, slightly different kind of movie.
SPEAKER_04Slightly different kind. I was almost well, actually, never mind. We'll table that because it might be on your list. Um uh I guess I'll just throw out the one that I've already mentioned on the show before. Lord of the Rings. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I've just talked about it before. That is definitely a comfort movie. I watch it like once a year, the whole trilogy extended edition, good times. Nice.
SPEAKER_01The comfort movie that I've definitely already talked about before is Coraline.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I was gonna guess you were gonna have that one on your Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it's very it's it's a seasonal comfort movie.
SPEAKER_04I have a seasonal comfort.
SPEAKER_01If I want to watch Coraline in July, so help me god someone put me in a straitjacket because something is absolutely wrong with me.
SPEAKER_04So you're feeling like watching Coraline?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So next week Bella will be in a straight jacket to start the episode and she'll have to do a shot without her hands. I'm not straight. Fine. Next week you'll be in a gay jacket.
SPEAKER_01That would do Oh my god, thank you.
SPEAKER_04Um, anyways.
SPEAKER_01Um, that might be cute. Oh, anyways. I was thinking about like colors and lining and like a rainbow straight jacket. No, not a rainbow one, a lesbian one. Because like the color scheme would be really pretty. If it was like like pink with like white stitching, little like orange pockets, and the little white heart. Anyways.
SPEAKER_04What's another one? You have any more comfort movies you want to discuss? You go. I go. Okay, not Lord of the Rings. Okay, uh another uh time of the year one. So me and my wife watch uh Harry Potter every October and November, and we never watch them outside of that, but we watch we've watched them for the six years we've been together every October, November, every season. All of them? All seven.
SPEAKER_02Wow, shit.
SPEAKER_04That's just what we do. We both grew up on them. And it's just something about the nostalgia, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Solid.
SPEAKER_04Snape.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if it here's the thing. Is it um there's gonna be a whole different episode for like indie films? Yeah, all of the indie films are like my like comfort film.
SPEAKER_04You are an indie film girly.
SPEAKER_01I know. I know, I know, I know, I know. Um, but one of them less common that I'm like this movie, not just like comfort movie, but like I I think it like changed my perception of like a lot of things in again. Indie films tend to do that. La la la la la la. It's called Comet. It has just the name. Yeah. You have. I don't know if they have, but has Emmy Rosum and Justin Long.
SPEAKER_04That's how you know about it, Emmy Rosam. Yeah. No, it was um I was like, I figured you would just follow all of her movies after your love for shameless.
SPEAKER_01I do love shameless. I I I think I did watch Shameless before. But I don't I don't I don't totally remember the timeline, but I do remember finding Comet in like 2016.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, it was just like on Netflix, it was like on like their big like banner.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And I was just like, oh, that's really pretty. And I yeah, and then we watched it, and I literally was like, oh my god, I love it so fucking much. It was it it to me is everything everywhere all at once before that movie came out. Like you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_04That movie might be on my list of comfort movies in a few years. I don't, it's just everything everywhere all at once. Yes, it's too new to be on my list of comfort movies, but I have seen it.
SPEAKER_01It's on my generational strong.
SPEAKER_04It's so lovely, it's so good. It's so good, it's so good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you should get a tattoo for it.
SPEAKER_04Nah.
SPEAKER_01Bitch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but like the concept of like timelines and multiverses. Um that for me started with comet. Oh, okay. But it's all just Justin and Emmy, just the two of them, they're the only characters, the last five years type shit. And um yeah, really, it's just all romance in their relationship.
SPEAKER_04Sounds like a nice big warm hug. Uh, it's not for your soul.
SPEAKER_01It I don't even know if I'm I don't know if I'd say that either. It's like the way that I look at the menu as a comedy.
SPEAKER_04It is a satirical comedy. It is.
SPEAKER_01Is it labeled that? I thought it was labeled thriller.
SPEAKER_04Uh if you look at it on the surface, it's a thriller, but who does that?
SPEAKER_01Who not think more about movie? Who just watched movie to joy?
SPEAKER_04I was gonna say I was wondering. People certain people.
SPEAKER_01Uh losing my fucking mind. I'm so sorry. Um, perks is on my list. It I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Perks of being a wallflower for those of you that aren't following. Um perks is on my list, but um that movie was comforting for me growing up because I felt seen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. In a way, I like not that I I don't consider it um one of my comfort movies.
SPEAKER_04It's not all that comforting.
SPEAKER_01It's not. I just love it, but it's deeply nostalgic for me. Yeah. And I think like when I watch it, like I feel like, and I guess like that is kind of like you know, a comfort movie. So like you watch it and you feel like you're like in high school again, and all that things.
SPEAKER_04But I'm like, for the first time when I was like a freshman in high school, I think.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, comfort movies somehow give me that like warm feeling, warm blanket without making me cry. Perks of being a walker. Perks makes me cry for sure. Does make me cry. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, okay.
SPEAKER_01That's why I'm like, it it is and it's not at the same time. It's like it's like when you know you're like, oh, I need to cry right now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I'm gonna go watch this thing that I know is gonna make me cry.
SPEAKER_04But like that's super cathartic at the same time. It's it feels nice to cry when you know.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna say that cathartic is the same emotion as comfort.
SPEAKER_04It can be.
SPEAKER_01One comes after the other. So I wouldn't call them like synonyms, but go, but they can go hand in hand.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. If you really need to cry and then you finally let it out, it can be very comforting. Right? And cathartic. So, yeah. Yeah, we're splitting hairs at this point. Um, the other movies before I moved to TV shows on my list, um it's just a general category of a few Christmas movies. Uh there's a couple of them, but like again, with the I watch them every year. I there's something about me and repetition that's comforting.
SPEAKER_00Autism.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Uh and just yeah. I I watch um, like I said, I watch the Harry Potter movies every year around October, November, and then I transition into Christmas movies. So I'm always watching, you know, the Santa Claus movies, and I'm always watching White Christmas, and It's a Wonderful Life, and Home Alone, and Elf, and just all of those are comfort movies because they're just wonderful. And nostalgic and bring me back to a time where everything didn't feel so crazy. So and also Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I do love a winter.
SPEAKER_01More of a fall gal, kind of myself.
SPEAKER_04That's okay. Anytime after summer and before spring is good with me.
SPEAKER_01Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_04And here I am in Southern California, where we don't get winter or fall, really.
SPEAKER_01You want to go into TV shows?
SPEAKER_04We can go into TV shows. You have a TV show for me?
SPEAKER_01I kind of do and I kinda don't.
SPEAKER_04Okay, well, I have like four.
SPEAKER_01I alright. You're gonna lead a lot of this and I'm gonna ask questions.
SPEAKER_04That's okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_04Um because you were very limited.
SPEAKER_01That's okay. That's okay. I was just gonna say that like I I don't have like comfort TVs because I is it's too long of a watch. I can't if I sit in bed for that long trying to like feel just like warm and fuzzy, it's gonna turn into depression if I want to feel it, like finish an entire season of something, you know what I mean? Yeah. Um so my my my comfort stays in movies than it does TV shows, but I have thought about what could be like something that does give me that like warm feeling when I need it. Maybe maybe a bit of a cry, but not too much. It's more of a laugh. Um Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_04I was gonna say that's the first one on my list. That's the first one on my list. Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_02Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_04What a big fat warm hug.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Uh yes, it makes me cry for sad reasons sometimes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04When Jimmy and his dad and that uh and then Roy gives him a hug. God, and then Coach giving Nate the whole speech on the second to last episode. I guess it's not the second to last episode because season four is coming out soon, but uh oh there's some moments. There's some moments. I mean, Rebecca and Ted's one-on-ones at the end of pretty much every season, like especially the first one, where she's just like, I'm messed up, and then he just forgives her and he's like, divorce is hard, it makes you do crazy things right after getting divorced. Oh my god. So those are like the sad moments, but there's so much wonderful, good you know.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'll go home and re-watch Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_04I just rewatched it for the second or third time uh like a month or two ago, and it's wonderful. It is a big I got s that's what it was. I got sick and I was sick on like a Thursday, and I took Thursday, Friday off work, and I just watched every season of Ted Lasso Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I finished the whole show in one weekend. It's only like 30 episodes, and no, it's really not bad, and that's also why I think I could do it. You could totally do it. Yeah, like you maybe qualify as slightly depressed if you sat there and did that. Maybe. Maybe maybe but that's okay. Give yourself a big warm hug in the form of Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_01Thanks, Jason.
SPEAKER_04I know. I'm okay. I'm like I I'm usually very against the whole continue making sequels and you know, milk everything out of that cash cow. But it's such a wonderful show that's a good one. But you're like, I'm okay that we're doing another season. Let's see what happens.
SPEAKER_01I I'm nervous.
SPEAKER_04Oh, same.
SPEAKER_01I'm very nervous because to me it's so perfect as is.
SPEAKER_04I wish it was just like a second show. It wasn't season four, it was season one of a new show. You want it to be like Ted Lasso. Exactly. And it kind of is. Yeah. So why are we making it season four of Ted Lasso? Because Rebecca and Ted are in it and Coach Beard, and that's basically where it stops in terms of the returning cast.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Maybe maybe there's a whole thing about having to make a sequel than there is to make another season that we just don't know about.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm I'm down because I don't know what's happening in that board room. I mean, the timing of that first season came out right during COVID. I mean, we needed that show.
SPEAKER_01I didn't, I don't think I started watching it during COVID. Oh, yeah, I did watch it.
SPEAKER_04While we were living with your ex-boyfriend.
SPEAKER_01Who thinks that I'm gonna cheat on him with no SG?
SPEAKER_04Exactly. Yeah, if you had ever had the opportunity, probably wouldn't have, but you might have held his hand.
SPEAKER_01I would not have cheated. I would have held his hand, and if I felt like anything was going on, I would have just broke up with my boyfriend.
SPEAKER_04That's so fair.
SPEAKER_01Um and then it would have been super messy for like a week.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and you could have written a letter to him.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, they could write a letter and then I'm gonna leave it inside of a fucking box.
SPEAKER_02It's so good. He loves so gentle. I love it so much. The fucking chokehold that Peter Kavinski had on me when this fucking movie came out. God damn it.
SPEAKER_04How do you really feel? I don't feel like you're emotional.
SPEAKER_02You should get Chico on this motherfucking couch so she could be like, that dumb bitch.
SPEAKER_01Well, bro, that dumb bitch. She I have to fly her in. Actually, she's coming around. She actually probably this summer, in she's she's coming around this. Is it April?
SPEAKER_04It is April.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's coming around this month. I don't know if I can get her on this podcast.
SPEAKER_04It's halfway through April.
SPEAKER_01She got a job in Spain.
SPEAKER_04She got a job in San Fran?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04As in moving to San Fran.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no. She's not moving.
SPEAKER_04Doing some work temporarily in San Fran.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, just a show.
SPEAKER_04A little far away from us still.
SPEAKER_01But she's also coming down, I think, for a wedding it was. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_04Well maybe we can get her on the show. We could we could fit a third on this couch.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Probably get rid of the arms and we'll see.
SPEAKER_04What? We can fit a third on this couch.
SPEAKER_01I hate you.
unknownWe could.
SPEAKER_01Shaw annoying.
SPEAKER_04Um moving on. Comfort shows for me. Okay, so for me, unlike you, I go to sleep watching something since I was like 13 years old.
SPEAKER_01I also do, I just said the minor YouTubers.
SPEAKER_04British Baking Show and YouTube videos.
SPEAKER_01Does that count as a comfort show?
SPEAKER_04Absolutely, it does.
SPEAKER_02I have I have I watched the great British Baking Show, and I have seen so many episodes over and over and over again, and I have no idea. I literally every single time I watch them, I forget who made what.
SPEAKER_04Yep. I do that with High Much Your Mother and Friends, and more recently, Modern Family.
SPEAKER_01Girl, more recently, even. It's been a couple years for that.
SPEAKER_04I understand. I do.
SPEAKER_01Walking into your silly little haha bed and being sick.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I watched High Much Your Mother when I was 12. I didn't start watching Modern Family until I was like 22.
SPEAKER_01So that's 10 years.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but you know, I've seen How Much Your Mother 28 times or something like that, all the way through every episode, 200 and some odd episodes. I've seen Friends probably 20 times all the way through. We just keep watching them. I mean I've seen The Office a number of times. I love The Office, but it's not uh The Office is not humor. I don't enjoy the secondhand embarrassment. It makes me uncomfortable as much as I love that show. Same with Parks and Rec.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think all of these answers are like I know that you're like both of us are like the top of Gen Z. That's the most millennial trait.
SPEAKER_04True.
SPEAKER_01I've ever heard. I've watched Friends 20 times.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01How I Met Your Mother 28.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Damn.
SPEAKER_04That How Met Your Mother is the first show I ever.
SPEAKER_01Avatar the Last Airbender once.
SPEAKER_04I haven't watched it anytime. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_01He just wants me to be mad.
SPEAKER_04It's not that hard to get you mad. Talking to the mic. See, she's mad.
SPEAKER_01I'm five feet tall.
SPEAKER_04You're mad about it.
SPEAKER_01I'm not mad about being five feet tall. But like the like thought of like short people get angry faster. Yeah. But I'm also just a fire sign, so rage just comes up in my blood, just boiling fast. And I tr I try really hard to like simmer that down. Do you? Yeah. Sometimes it just Sometimes. Sometimes and but those are the times that I regret. Because then I say something like that I I I may or may not mean, but it came out in a delivery that I cannot take back.
SPEAKER_04The delivery is as important as the message most of the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And if I am furious enough, I will burn you.
SPEAKER_04You'll deliver it in a brick thrown through the window.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_04Right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was going still more fire thoughts and was like, uh what's that called? The fucking thing Knuckles is money, but the bottle?
SPEAKER_04Molotov cocktail.
SPEAKER_01There we go. That's what I was thinking. That's how.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's fair. That's more firey for you. Fire. Yeah. I love a flambe.
SPEAKER_01Keep going, Jesus.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that was my last comfort show.
SPEAKER_01I'm done.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's right. Also on the show. Pretty much every episode. Love that. Comforting. Comforting British man that has no business being on a farm.
SPEAKER_01It's okay.
SPEAKER_04It's okay. What have you watched since I last saw you?
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I saw you last night.
SPEAKER_04Since I last saw you on camera.
SPEAKER_01Well, we watched Euphoria.
SPEAKER_04Euphoria, season three, the first episode. What did you think?
SPEAKER_01I I think, and I guess, spoiler alert for anybody else that's watching this right now, um, because it it's it's a new one.
SPEAKER_04It is. It's a whole 24 hours. Well, when you're listening to this, it's a whole five days old.
SPEAKER_01But that's still.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't know why I'm thinking that like her driving that car up to Knuckles' the the border. Yes. I was like, but the the fence. That's the word I'm looking for. Um I feel like somehow that's a metaphor. Or Sam Levinson's just like, yeah, fuck it. I thought it'd be fun.
SPEAKER_04It might be both.
SPEAKER_01It might be both. But like, you know, the the season hasn't really started. Um I agree, slow start.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But we'll see where it goes. But I'm expecting I didn't like not seeing it. I'm expecting big things.
SPEAKER_01Did miss Hunter Schaefer in this. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04I know she's gonna be in it, but like her, right, right. Her storyline's obviously minor if she's not even in the first episode. But then again, maybe not. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01This is the most sane I've ever seen, Nate Jacobs.
SPEAKER_04True. But he's clearly boiling underneath, so we'll see. That'll that'll end poorly, probably.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I was like, in a way, I was like, is this the healthiest this man's ever been? In a way, such a still a bad relationship. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.
SPEAKER_04Yep. I'm curious to see where the Maddie and Lexi thing goes. Uh their storylines are clearly interlinked somehow. Um and Cassie will get in there for some reason because she's stalking her old best friend.
SPEAKER_01Right, right, right, right, right. So there's a lot of fun. Oh, can we talk about also like at least like in the trailer? Do you remember when Nate was like, and she's like, yeah, Maddie's gonna help me? And he was like, my Maddie?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Bitch! Your Maddie is funny.
SPEAKER_01My Maddie? That's anything it's Cassie's Maddie. No, I still I mean, it's it's Cassie's best friend. Um I mean, I I who I really agree with who had Maddie more in their life in a more significant way.
SPEAKER_04Well, he certainly had his hand around her, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_01Girl, but I the way that I would beat the absolute ever living shit out of my partner if someone was like my my talking about their person, yes, but also that it's like my friend. That I would, I, I would, I would, I would that'd be a problem. Insane.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but you know, I know that hasn't even happened yet.
SPEAKER_01I know it's so weird but I'm also like because um Lexi is Cassie's sister, right? And she's like hanging out with Maddie, right? How did that happen?
SPEAKER_04Uh well, probably because they were best friends and already knew each other.
SPEAKER_01Right. I'm so here's my other thing where I'm like, I don't please don't let this happen. And I'm like, like out of respect, and like I don't I don't know where this fucking storyline is going in the first place yet, anyways. So like I don't know, I don't know how pivotal it is. I really hope Lexi doesn't fall for another person.
SPEAKER_04Oh, and she stays with Angus.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like, not I mean, we in prison.
SPEAKER_04Rest in peace, Fez. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Rest in peace, Angus. Yeah. Um, but like I just think that like Lexi shouldn't have another partner, even though like Fez is in jail or like because Angus passed away. I just think that they should just have left it where it was. And they were so huge.
SPEAKER_04He was. I really don't think Lexi's character needs a romantic interest.
SPEAKER_01I agree.
SPEAKER_04I think everyone has badass in her own right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's enough roam romance, there's enough intimacy. I'll go with that, I guess.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Going around with everyone else that I don't feel like we need another couple.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, okay, that's totally fair.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I can't.
SPEAKER_01I also just don't want to put any disrespect on Fezco's name. 100%. Fuck that. You're not moving on from that. And you know, maybe later. When you're like 30.
SPEAKER_04We'll see.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how old they're on the show right now. Like what, 25? They're they're because I know they time jumped.
SPEAKER_04Right. It's obviously post-high school. I think it's post-college too, so they're mid-20s, maybe.
SPEAKER_0123, 25, somewhere in that ballpark.
SPEAKER_04Fine by me. Nate and Cassie were married, were getting married.
SPEAKER_01We went to a college, a Christian college school, okay? People got married fast.
SPEAKER_04Well, yeah. Well, they didn't.
SPEAKER_01But like Cassie's a type.
SPEAKER_04She is.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why Nate did this, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Um, yeah, we'll see. I've heard Eric Dane did record stuff for this season before the ALS even fully took over. So rest in peace, Eric Dane. Uh I'm excited to see him, but it's gonna be hard and sad at the same time. He wasn't really in this one other than the recap. Um yeah. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I am who I am.
SPEAKER_04God, god damn it. That was a wonderful storyline.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Hard to watch, but wonderful. Enticing. Uh yeah, we'll see. We'll see. It's pretty.
SPEAKER_01Beyond that, I haven't missed Labyrinth. Don't start this drama here. Don't do this to me.
SPEAKER_04I mean, we don't even know what happened.
SPEAKER_01We don't know what happened, but for him ah, there's a whole lot of drama with this show.
SPEAKER_04This show should have been so much better. Like, uh, he had so much, but that first season was so good.
SPEAKER_01That and that original storyline was some top-tier fucking writing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um, that was that could have been like a master class.
SPEAKER_01Well, um also like because it was originally like, what's about his life, Knuckle?
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. He was he's in recovery and like was an addict and all that.
SPEAKER_01So I'm like, well, now that we veered off so much from the first like original storyline, right? How much of this is like still like his life and how much of it. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. We'll see. I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_04We'll see. I think this is gonna be very important for Sam's future career if he sticks the landing here or not. Because they're all done with him.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, it's not looking it's not looking pretty, girl.
SPEAKER_04So we'll see. I mean, we're gonna be we're gonna we're gonna watch every episode and we're gonna react probably every week before.
SPEAKER_01Gotta say something.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, beyond that, I because I I worked my fun fun 70-hour week, I had not really been.
SPEAKER_04But we haven't seen you in two weeks, and I believe you saw a certain film that I might have talked about last week.
SPEAKER_01I did watch. I was gonna I was gonna watch say the other there's other TV shows that I do need to watch. I need to watch The Boys, I need to watch Invincible, and I'm gonna watch Exo Kitty. Um so I have I have three shows to be watching. Um I did watch Project Hail Mary. So fucking good, bitch.
SPEAKER_02I fell in love with the goddamn fucking space rock spider.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02Um who didn't?
SPEAKER_01I was pissed also at you.
SPEAKER_04Amaze, amazed.
SPEAKER_01Amaze, amaze, amazed.
SPEAKER_04Why were you pissed at you?
SPEAKER_01Because I was like, am I gonna is this gonna break my heart if I watch this by myself? And you were like, It's not heartbreaking. It's fun and it's witty, and I cried three fucking times. I also didn't realize how long this movie was.
SPEAKER_04Well, it's a space movie.
SPEAKER_01It's great. I was okay with it because I would have watched it for double. I would have watched it for five hours. I didn't realize it was two and a half hours, and that's because I was like, we got to like maybe like an hour in, and I was like, you know, this movie's kind of been going on for a while, and I still haven't seen this fucking rock.
SPEAKER_04That happens about an hour in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then I saw it and I was like, well, there's no way he's just at the end of the movie, and then I was like, this is just gonna be a longer movie, and I'm okay with that. Yeah, I'm happy. I had my sushi, I had my poke bowl and a drink, and I was fucking. I I was very much like, I'm gonna forget my reality, and I'm gonna be here in space with Ryan Gosling and Rocky. It was the best time, and I had I had the time. I literally today, today, I went to Color Me Mine. I went to the mall. You can see my things. Yeah, I went to Color Me Mine because I had a plate that I still hadn't painted yet from like when I went with my sister a year ago. Um, I just had never found like a like a day off, and I was like, you know what? I think I know what I want to do with this plate now, and I'm ready. Did you paint Rocky? I did not paint Rocky, but I did think about it. But it is space themed.
SPEAKER_04Did you paint a bunch of red infrared lights?
SPEAKER_01No, I painted very accurate. Um not extremely accurate. I am who I am, but it I tried my best to make it a very accurate solar system on this plate.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01And it has a quote that is meant just for me. And then I got myself a green crush. And then I also have cease candies. And I know that we don't even talk about food on this. We're not even talking about food on this fucking podcast. I'm gonna try my best not to crinkle it. But this seas candy, they I get the like butterscotch-covered marshmallows.
SPEAKER_04Not sponsored.
SPEAKER_01Not sponsored. This is you could you could if you want to. Um, no argument here. These were my like, not just like it was like both a treat and a comfort candy.
SPEAKER_04I was like, is that a comfort snack there?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is. 100%. I was like, you know what? I deserve a little marshmallow covered in caramel.
SPEAKER_04Why not?
SPEAKER_01That's my shit.
SPEAKER_04Why not?
SPEAKER_01That's my shit. And then I and then I came here. Filled up for gas and I came here.
SPEAKER_04Love it. Love it. Yeah, Project Hill Mary.
SPEAKER_01So fucking good. God, I think maybe eventually one day that will be like a another comfort movie.
SPEAKER_04I could say I agree with that. It's so good.
SPEAKER_01I love the way that NASA is just such such also a hopeless romantic. They're so poetic in everything they do.
SPEAKER_04W Artemis.
SPEAKER_01Welcome home, Artemis T.
SPEAKER_04Welcome home. I was watching From a Plane live. And I'm sad because I would have been able to see it out. Really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit.
SPEAKER_04There's a bunch of videos from people in LA and Oregon.
SPEAKER_01I only I only saw one video of watching Artemis take off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, it because it's a lot of people. And I was like, that's the coolest fucking thing in the world. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's the coolest fucking thing in the world.
SPEAKER_04I would have been able to see it.
SPEAKER_01That's fucking insane.
SPEAKER_04But man, I don't know if you watched it live. Um I was a little stressed out there. I know this is a movie podcast and we're talking about current events, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01I love space.
SPEAKER_04I love space. It was literally last week's episode.
SPEAKER_01As well as astrology.
SPEAKER_04Um, I was gonna say, I did warn you that there are sad parts to that movie, but it overall is a wonderful, hopeful, not sad, doesn't have a sad ending. It has a hopeful ending.
SPEAKER_02I was really in here for this.
SPEAKER_04Which one got you when when you you thought he was gonna die? Because what also got me was Ryan Gosling when he like admitted that he was what his plan was to Rocky. Like that acting was phenomenal there. Like they had him all in the shadow and he turns around and his face is all crying. That got me. Uh, and then obviously the Rocky thing at the end towards the end. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Even okay, and this was like funny, but it did like make me cry.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna cry. I love it. I love it so much. I was like, no, Bella, we can't keep getting movie tattoos.
SPEAKER_04You're gonna get the rock next to your googly eyes.
SPEAKER_02I can't, because I was no, I can't, because I was also like, I want a Rocky plushie. And I was like, God, this is the ugliest plushie I want. You didn't get it? I did not, but I was in in my head.
SPEAKER_04I told the everyone last week that that's where you were, and that's why you couldn't be with us.
SPEAKER_01That I was getting a Rocky tattoo.
SPEAKER_04That's what you told me to tell them.
SPEAKER_01Did I say that?
SPEAKER_04You said tell the audience that I'm I fell in love with a space rock and I'm going to get a rock plushie or a Rocky plushie.
SPEAKER_01I will probably eventually get it. It's just right now, it just makes me laugh that I'm like, what is this? What is this plushie? Um I'm at least gonna get a pin.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, so funny.
SPEAKER_04It's such a good movie. I mean, I told them you were on set too afterwards.
SPEAKER_01But another thing that like made me ha ha hee hee ho ho and kind of cry a little bit was even just like figuring out Rocky's voice.
SPEAKER_04And like just like the changing out the different voices, yeah. Which apparently the actual voice is the guy that uh puppeteered him, which is kind of cool.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, oh I I love I love practicality.
SPEAKER_04Did you know there was no green screens in that movie?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, I did.
SPEAKER_04I watched this like 45-minute video like breakdown of somebody walking through the whole set, like God bless you, Ryan Gosling, for how much care you took for this movie.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01And all of like the the marketing of just Ryan Gosling in his old movies doing it with Rocky is actually really funny too.
SPEAKER_04I love that.
SPEAKER_01And I'm so happy imposing for Lala Land and Barbie has been really funny for me.
SPEAKER_04Oh my gosh. Yeah, no, it's so good. It's it's so good.
SPEAKER_01I also watched the drama.
SPEAKER_04You watched the drama? Uh-huh. How was that?
SPEAKER_01Nothing could have prepared me for what her secret was, actually. Oh, I was like, fuck. I won't, I no spoilers.
SPEAKER_04Um, don't spoil it for me. We can spoil it later.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um I wanted it to have just like one more, one more, ooh, one more moment. You know what I mean? But aside from that, I was like, no, this is great, and I think it's great social commentary. And fuck you, Rachel, you're the villain.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01You'll figure that out later. Welcome to the wedding. You are cordially invited.
SPEAKER_04Their uh their dynamic is fun though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're stunning. Yeah God Robert Baditz is fine. Every now and then, that man is fine.
SPEAKER_04Every now and again.
SPEAKER_01Every now and then that man and shut up.

SPEAKER_02And I I just won't mommy, please.
SPEAKER_01Please. I'm s I just I just want to know so bad. I'm so nosy. Yeah, you are. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_04So am I, but in different ways.
SPEAKER_01It's just a real listen, keep the whole wedding to yourself. That is you, that is your privacy. Just drop a picture. I don't deserve anything, and I know that. Just really, really curious about the dress.
unknownJust really want to know.
SPEAKER_04It was that was the one. She she wore it for the drama. No, I'm kidding. Could you imagine?
SPEAKER_01And she looks stunning. In the drama. Absolutely beautiful.
SPEAKER_04Why don't she not look stunning?
SPEAKER_01Never.
SPEAKER_04Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Even with my eyes closed, that girl looks glowing. Zendaya. Thanks, Tom.
SPEAKER_04Well done, Tom.
