Welcome to the shot on film podcast.
SPEAKER_00Oh. Someone's had a bit of a problem. Okay. That's a new one.
SPEAKER_02That was new.
SPEAKER_00So it goes in your mouth, preferably.
SPEAKER_02That's okay.
SPEAKER_00Just a little moisturizer, you know?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. This one actually. No, it's alcohol. It'll dry. It'll dry your skin.
SPEAKER_00It's moisture on your skin.
SPEAKER_03I'll take that.
SPEAKER_00This week. Perfume at the latest. Yeah, that's true. What is it? Pear perfume? Plum plum perfume. Plum perfume. Anyways, whoa. We both moved to Mike's and everything fell. This week, Pixar movies. We're going to do our top five favorite Pixar films for no apparent reason. I guess Hoppers just came out, so that feels appropriate. Appropriate. Did you review that last week? No, you didn't. There you go.
SPEAKER_03No, but I did watch it.
SPEAKER_00That's appropriate. I haven't yet, but we'll get Bella's review on Hoppers and we'll get our top five Pixar films. Would you like to go first? At number five.
SPEAKER_03At number five. At I I had a hard time picking a five.
SPEAKER_00I have quite a few like honorable mentions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I also have honorable mentions and then I have things to do. Do you want to do those first?
SPEAKER_00Because I did write down four honorable mentions. Because I couldn't. Okay.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00You can start there then. Whether you're honorable mentions.
SPEAKER_02Listen. I I know that I'm gonna get. I'm gonna get there's there'll be picket fence, not picket fence.
SPEAKER_03Pitchforks and torches outside my house for it not being in my top five ranking.
SPEAKER_00I think there's probably 10 Pixar films that are that belong in a lot of people's f top five. You know, like it's hard to do.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, I'm splitting hairs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_03Um Coco.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Monsters Inc.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's a good one, too.
SPEAKER_03And Inside Out 2.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Inside Out 2. Okay. I mean, that's fair. And I have none of those in my honorable mentions.
SPEAKER_01Damn.
SPEAKER_00Or on my list.
SPEAKER_01Damn.
SPEAKER_00But they're all really good. Damn. They're really good. They are. My honorable mentions were Toy Stories 1 and 3. The Incredibles and Up. Honestly.
SPEAKER_03I don't care for Up.
SPEAKER_00The first 20 minutes, though.
SPEAKER_03But that's that's it. That's all people ever fucking talk about.
SPEAKER_00It's the greatest short film ever made.
SPEAKER_03It is not.
SPEAKER_00But it's a feature film.
SPEAKER_03It's so good. The music is.
SPEAKER_00That's fair. Alright. Anyways, those didn't quite make the list as much as I love those films. Especially Toy Stories 1 and 3.
SPEAKER_03My number five is Toy Story.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_03I also was kind of like, this is Pixar.
SPEAKER_00It is the quintessential. It is the OG.
SPEAKER_03At its core, this is Pixar.
SPEAKER_00It is.
SPEAKER_03So I was like, I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_00And he's coming.
SPEAKER_03That was where I was like. But Coco is is like, I know that like Avatar is not like a live action. I mean, part of it is, but it's like, it's not like it's all CGI. Um, or I was like, this is animated Avatar. This is stunning.
SPEAKER_00It is.
SPEAKER_03This the story is beautiful. Yes. The music is insane.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But didn't quite make the list.
SPEAKER_03It wasn't it. I mean, if I could, if it could split five. I'll split it with five.
SPEAKER_00You put Coco on there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um, but I was like, Toy Story is that like is that OG? It is. Is that that start of that spark of Pixar?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, it's the first fully feature-length animated film ever made.
SPEAKER_03I couldn't get that way.
SPEAKER_00It's got just some phenomenal classic scenes. Yeah, that's a good film. That's that's good. It's so good.
SPEAKER_03But just the original.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_03Not not like all uh toy stories at five, just OG.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, for sure. Because there's another Toy Story on my list. Anyways, it's four. Uh oh, is it really? Yeah. But on my number five, Finding Nemo.
SPEAKER_03It's because your dog's name Nemo.
SPEAKER_00No, it's because it's such a good film. It's the first movie I ever have a memory of seeing in theaters.
SPEAKER_02Aww.
SPEAKER_00Which is a side note.
SPEAKER_02Big blue.
SPEAKER_00The big blue. Um. Yeah. I mean, from the opening scene with the beautiful reef, and then obviously horrible things happen right after that. Um, and then it just, you know. I know Ellen deGeneres isn't the greatest, but Dory's awesome. We love Dory.
SPEAKER_03I forgot that that's Ellen de Generis.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Dory's the best. Speaking whale, gotta go find Fabio. You know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh, it's good. I really like finding Nemo. And I also love the ocean, and I always have, and that's probably part of the reason why. I'm a big fan of sharks. Bruce is cool. Honestly, that's a terrifying shark, even in an animated film.
SPEAKER_03That's funny. I remember when I watched it, and I also went to go see it in theaters with my family, that I like brought a jacket to like cover my eyes because I didn't know how the sharks were gonna be.
SPEAKER_00That big smile. No, I first had it oh. Yeah. Like it's pretty intense.
SPEAKER_03No, it was I was fine. Even as an attacker. And then I felt like I brought this jacket for nothing, and I was upset that I brought this jacket for nothing, so I like pretended to be scared, and I was like, You were so prepared to be scared. I was, and then I was disappointed that I wasn't gonna be scared, so I was like, let me just fake it so I act like I didn't bring this jacket for nothing.
SPEAKER_00That works. And number four for you or for me?
SPEAKER_03Number four is the incredibles for me.
SPEAKER_00Nice. That's fair.
SPEAKER_03Um, I uh I love superheroes. I love I like those I like this concept of like them not being super all the time and like having to live like a normal life and like the fucking lore that goes down deep into the fucking incredibles. People there's like um I don't know if you've seen this or not, but like people on TikTok were finding like lore files for all of the dead supers. Yeah, yeah, and I was like, this gets more and more fucked up.
SPEAKER_00There is so much lore to that movie. That original movie is so good. You've seen the Jack Jack attacks. I can be uh short.
SPEAKER_01If everyone's special and nobody special like that, like that fucking villain on the syndrome, honestly, he he's a solid fucking villain, he was a really good villain.
SPEAKER_00And I can't I can't knock, you know, like the the hero, never meet your heroes kind of thing, and then he's turned into this villain that wants to ruin everything because of that. Like it's good. Also, can we talk about the score?
SPEAKER_03Of being like, you ruined me at childhood. I'm gonna grow up to like be this rich fucking guy, own this island, build a robot, something that is so indestructible that you can't even fucking beat it. That's my whole life plan.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you ruined my childhood dream.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely fucking. I'm gonna kill all of your fucking family members and my assistant if I have to.
SPEAKER_00Kidnap your youngest child as a baby.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna get sucked into a jet play.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's unfortunate.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, shit, shit's so fucking good.
SPEAKER_00It's so good. The score, though.
SPEAKER_03It's beautiful.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Also, the aesthetics of it's stunning.
SPEAKER_00It's so good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They're making the third one right now.
SPEAKER_03Um, hey.
SPEAKER_00I'll watch it.
SPEAKER_03Actually, I I I remember like I watched the second one. It's good. Uh I also watched that in theaters, like with my mom. Um, and it I don't know how she got this. If it was like some like if she had planned to go see it or if it was like some Disney vacation club thing, but I remember it was like she was like, Go bring a friend. We have extra tickets. And I was like, okay, and I text my friend a while, and I was like, You want to see Incredibles too with me and my family?
SPEAKER_04Why not?
SPEAKER_03Um, why not? Um and then I was like, I don't fucking hate it. I love I like watching Bob as a stay-at-home dad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And it's fun. Having to be like, it's not in it, didn't feel like the typical, oh, my dad can't like handle the fucking kids at home.
SPEAKER_00No, they're super kids, so it's a bit more difficult. Yeah, it's hard. Jack Jack's setting things on fire and running through walls, and you know his powers just randomly they just randomly appear out of nowhere. Like, yeah, that would that'd be that'd be tough for any parent.
SPEAKER_03It's funny as shit. Like, oh, it's not just like, oh, I have a teenage daughter, I have a teenage daughter that like can do like force fields and turn invisible.
SPEAKER_00Sure, that's its own set of challenges.
SPEAKER_03God, and now she likes boys, and I want to die.
SPEAKER_00How dare she?
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's so funny to me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Incredibles is good.
SPEAKER_03What's your fourth?
SPEAKER_00Number four, Toy Story Two. I for whatever I mean, I love Toy Story, and Toy Story 3 is really good too. But Toy Story Two hurts. Oh, it's so good. When somebody loves you. Yeah. Sarah McLaughlin. He did a number on all of us. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But not to mention just gay of you. Really fucking gay.
SPEAKER_00I mean, the Al's Toy Barn, that guy's a great little villain. I mean, I it does, it does everything that the first Toy Story does. It just turns it up a little bit, which is what sequels usually do.
SPEAKER_03The the parts where he's like polishing. Yeah, I was like, I was like re-varnishing, but I was like, there's more to that of like doing up what it is.
SPEAKER_00Touching up, yeah. Renovating. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Renovating. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Restoring. That's probably the right word. Yeah, that's the word word. There was an R-word in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um yeah, no, that that movie's so good. And Jesse's story is great, and the airport and the Zerg fight. I mean, it's all it's good. Zurg is literally just Darth Vader.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like literally, it's just Darth Vader. And the opening of that movie is just 2001 of Space Odyssey, but whatever. I love Toy Story 2.
SPEAKER_03Not broke, don't fix.
SPEAKER_00It ain't fixed. And and you know, Andy doesn't notice the fact that he's just got a whole bunch of new toys for no reason, but whatever.
SPEAKER_03He's like, I don't know where these came from. I didn't get any of these. No, I didn't steal anything from the city. They're mine.
SPEAKER_00They appeared with Woody, so that means they're mine.
SPEAKER_03Right. Why not?
SPEAKER_00Number three.
SPEAKER_03Mine's Elemental. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00I didn't even consider that one.
SPEAKER_03I fucking love Elemental. I've seen it once. Uh, it's so fucking good. And I, and that is where I was like, fuck up. Actually, fuck up. Because I was like, that's yeah, you only care about the first 20 minutes of this film, and then the rest of it you just kind of have on because you don't want to be a dick and not turn it off. And it's not a bad movie, but that first 20 minutes is what it feels like to watch the entirety of Elemental to me. I love Elemental. I love watching the not almost like Forbidden Love in a way, where I'm like, you the these two elements literally shouldn't go together. It's right.
SPEAKER_00It's just Romeo and Juliet.
SPEAKER_03I love an immigrant story.
SPEAKER_00It's just Romeo and Juliet.
SPEAKER_03Love it.
unknownI love it. I love it.
SPEAKER_00I don't even remember Elemental. I saw it like once and I very barely remember it.
SPEAKER_01I love it big.
SPEAKER_00It's oh, that's interesting. You go Elemental.
SPEAKER_01I loved it so much.
SPEAKER_00I did not expect that from you. I love it. That is a deep pull of a Pixar movie.
SPEAKER_01I don't think it is.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's not it's not that old, but I just feel like it's not as recognized as a lot of the ones we're talking about and beloved. It's it's newer though.
SPEAKER_03We're talking in different circles.
SPEAKER_00We are.
SPEAKER_03Because I was like, you can go and go talk to Inge and Chico, and they know how much I fucking love Elemental.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that's fine.
SPEAKER_03They also were crying watching this movie.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I shed a tear or two, for sure. But that's not That's Pixar's job. That's that's what I was about to say. Pixar has never made an objectively bad film. They've made some that are not nearly as good as others.
SPEAKER_03I'm just thinking about all of them. Sure, think about the bottom ones on the list.
SPEAKER_00Like objectively, this is a bad movie.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00No, they've never made a bad movie. Like the worst they do is like a six out of ten, which is like okay.
SPEAKER_03You still pass.
SPEAKER_00You yep.
SPEAKER_03Kind of.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like a D.
SPEAKER_00D. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'll take it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, if it's not, you know, a class in your major, you pass if you're in college. Um yeah, I don't know. So yeah, elemental is like a seven, but uh in my brain.
SPEAKER_03You like hate immigrants. That's what I mean.
SPEAKER_00That's what you're hearing? Yeah, yeah. You hate you're gonna clip that and just take that out of context. It's fun.
SPEAKER_03It's like when I ask people if they've watched Sinners and they say no, and I'm like, So you hate black people? Is that what I'm hearing? You hate black people?
SPEAKER_00That's that is what I'm hearing.
SPEAKER_03I've asked. I've which is so funny because I've now like I've I'm so used to pulling that immediately once someone says they haven't seen sinners that I don't even think about who I'm talking to. I've said that to three different black people. Oh my god. And then they look at me and I was like, no, I know what I said.
SPEAKER_00I stand by it.
SPEAKER_03I answer the question.
SPEAKER_00Hey, you can hate black people even if you're black. You can hate white people if you're white.
SPEAKER_03It's technically possible. It's technically possible. It's just really fucking weird.
SPEAKER_00That'd be really weird.
SPEAKER_03It's really, really weird to self-hate like that. Crazy work. Anyways, what's your three?
SPEAKER_00My number three is a little film that has the least amount of dialogue in any Pixar film about a little robot named Wally. What's wrong with Wally? Nothing. It's on your list. Alright. Wally. What an excellent example of visual storytelling. And just talk about great music too, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03You know, musicals. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean Wally is touching. I had a friend write a 45-page paper on WALL-E in college because he loved it that much. And I was like, that's a really 45-page. Yeah, you remember the the class that we all had to take in my major that you had to write the big big paper?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was what uh Sean wrote about. Anyways, um, yeah, I wrote about Amadeus. Movie you probably still haven't seen.
SPEAKER_03I haven't seen it, but it's because my ex wanted to name our child Amadeus.
SPEAKER_00Well, then you can just call it Mozart, even though that's not its name.
SPEAKER_03No, I know. So I just I still haven't seen it.
SPEAKER_00So really good film. One Best Picture 1985. Um that's which is not really saying much. There's plenty of best picture winners that are not all that good, but you know, that one's pretty good in my opinion. Anyways, WALL-E. If there's any Pixar movie that I'd be okay with a sequel, it might be Wally.
SPEAKER_03I'd be interested to see to see Wally number two.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Because but I I mean at the same time, the story wraps up perfectly. We've restored humanity on the Earth.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's just curious to be like, where would you pick up the I don't know, but I love that robot. So I'm down.
SPEAKER_00Can ro can Wally just be the king of Earth? Savior of the planet.
SPEAKER_03It's like, well, do they even save the planet?
SPEAKER_00Robot love story. It's so good, but it's so effective without much dialogue in the at least the first half. There's almost none. Yeah. And it's just one character. Oh, there's a mosquito in here. Damn it. Uh, one character by himself with no narration. That's like a cheap cop-out you usually get in those kinds of films. Nope.
unknownOh, Wally.
SPEAKER_00Bless you, Wally.
SPEAKER_03What's your number two?
SPEAKER_00My number two. Inside out. Nah, not number two. Although that is good. The OG Inside Out.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00Yes. And the like the only reason it's not number one is that number one is the most beloved. My favorite. Uh we'll get there. Anyways. Um Inside Out. I've when did that come out? Like 2015 or something like that? Somewhere on there. Yeah. First movie I cried in theaters watching, pretty sure, uh, was with ex-girlfriend at the time, and she was like, What is wrong with you? And I'm just like bawling in the theaters, like feeling all of the emotions. And she's just like, Are you okay? I'm like, no, I'm not okay. Um, yeah, God, inside out.
SPEAKER_03Solid.
SPEAKER_00Just like such a creative, creative concept. Yeah. Like so thoughtful. And yes, again, the music is so good.
SPEAKER_03Did you get it?
SPEAKER_00I did.
SPEAKER_03R-I-P.
SPEAKER_00Goodbye. Um, I felt it crawl.
SPEAKER_03Um, but Bug's Life?
SPEAKER_00That's gonna be on your phone.
SPEAKER_03That my number two is Bugs Life. Bugs Life, nice. Number two is Bugs Life. Um I want to say Inside Out. I like the second one more.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. I felt I mean the second one's good too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, thank you. Um I didn't think that like the the first one was bad. I just think that like, and I I I understand that that's that's the character. Joy was happy for too fucking long, too optimistic for so far.
SPEAKER_00That is too long. That is her. That is her, and it was they are in a way one-dimensional characters. Sad just pissed me the fuck off because she's too sad too often.
unknownFuck.
SPEAKER_00I didn't get it, or there's more than one.
SPEAKER_03Um I hate mosquitoes. Uh yeah, and that that's why I couldn't I I couldn't stand it. That's okay.
SPEAKER_00That's okay. I do.
SPEAKER_03So the second one has more like that's why I appreciated the second one more because they felt more nuanced, they felt more well-rounded, and I liked that the other emotions got more of a spotlight.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's fair. But at the same time, when you're a kid of that age, yeah, joy is probably your main emotion.
SPEAKER_03It's just it's just bugging you.
SPEAKER_00We do call them bugs for a reason.
SPEAKER_03It's over here now. It's like behind the couch.
SPEAKER_00I just think it's gonna ruin.
SPEAKER_03Anyways, Bugs Life is my second. Um I love Bug's Life, and unfortunately, a very prevalent message since it came out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's gotten more relevant as the years have gone on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I have a Bugs Life t-shirt. I didn't wear it because I wanted to wear a hoodie instead. So I picked the inside out hat. That works. Um, but uh, I remember when I was a kid, I was like fucking terrified. Terrified of Hopper.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's he's intimidating.
SPEAKER_03Um but I I had I I I watched it as an adult and I was like, this is still so good.
SPEAKER_00You just watched it a few months ago.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was like, it's still so much fun. And I was I was thinking like, oh, like now, like as an actor watching all of these like circus bugs. I was like, no, that's so funny. That's yeah, I see the train track is so good.
SPEAKER_00It's so funny. There's such it keeps flying by my head. Uh, there it is. Get you. Uh I'm leaving all this in. Um, it really like there's a literal light. Aren't you supposed to go towards that?
SPEAKER_03It's because you're white. I know I'm bouncing the light.
SPEAKER_00I got it. That was gross. Yeah. I got it though. Um reflexes. Um Bug's Life. Um yeah, that movie. I say I know it's a rock all the time, as like a random vocal stim. And a lot of times Amanda's like, what? And I'm like, it's a rock. Um The Circus Bugs. Uh they are a bunch of failed actors. It's it is. That is what they are. No, it's so funny. Especially the Prague Mantis and the butterflies. I can't remember their names, but you know.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I love Heimlich. Oh, he's so good. And then I do miss Bugsland.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Disneyland. It was so good.
SPEAKER_00You still have it at Disney World, I think. Don't they? I think. Oh, I know. I'll let you know.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, I love I did I love Avengers Campus. I will love it once it's done going through its changes again. Yeah. But I do miss Bugs. Bugs Line.
SPEAKER_00It just wasn't as popular as Avengers, so they're just squeezing every dollar they can.
SPEAKER_03Other than that, it's like, well, because of the construction, they've stopped anything that made Avengers Campus cool. Some out of budget, some out of safety concerns. Either way, they're Gone. They're like, okay. And they're like, they'll be, they'll come back. And I'm like, when the rides are finished, right? In like two fucking years. Yeah, Disney be like that sometimes. First world problem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, really. Really, really problem. Like, really, really, really first world problem. Give me my fun stuff back at my really expensive park that I get into for free. Alright, what's your number one?
SPEAKER_03It's Wally.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_03So I was like, I have nothing to comment because then I'll have nothing to say in the next 10 minutes.
SPEAKER_00That's fair. We had some crossover. That's okay.
SPEAKER_03Wally's my number one. I think has been my number one, at least for Pixar films, since it came out. I I love robots. I love not human characters. Yeah. At the same time. I hate when they take a person of color and they turn him into a fucking animal for like 80% of their fucking movie. Hate that shit. Um but when the character just stays, like they have they've always meant to be non-human. And at this I like to fight fucking people on is that Wally, Eve, and all of the other robots have no fucking gender. People just assign that to them.
SPEAKER_00That's true.
SPEAKER_03And I ha eat that shit up. I was like, what? Oh, you say it's a her. What makes it a her? I don't I don't I don't see a vagina. I don't see a dick on this robot. What made it what made it a him? And then I fight with conservatives over a fucking robot movie.
SPEAKER_00This is hilarious. And so you're good. I have three mosquito bites.
SPEAKER_03I'm so sorry. Um I I love a good cautionary tale. Yeah. Of we need to take care of the fucking earth. You need to take care of yourself. Stay healthy.
SPEAKER_00Don't just sit in the chair.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh, when the fucking the the the couple, I was like mom and dad, but like the couple are like, you ready to have kids? And they jump off their chairs and they save these like five babies that are sliding. That shit's so funny to meet the cleaning robot. I relate. Ah it's so funny. So good. So I love space.
SPEAKER_00Space is great.
SPEAKER_03No, Wally's so I'm thinking of uh fucking Project Hell Mary again and I'm like, I just it's appropriate. It's so good.
SPEAKER_00It's appropriate.
SPEAKER_03Love space.
SPEAKER_00We love a space film. All right. Yeah, Wally, Wally is really good.
SPEAKER_03Wally's really, really good. And you're right. I didn't really think about like there's no dialogue for the beginning of that entire movie. It's really just beach.
SPEAKER_00Sound effects and music.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and a cockroach going.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_03That's it.
SPEAKER_00You get the TV singing to you, but that's that's really it.
SPEAKER_03Uh and I love I also love the thought of like little noises, but um things that aren't human having emotions. I know that's like that's they're the fucking it's a movie.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, most Pixar movies are like that, to be fair.
SPEAKER_03Inanimate objects.
SPEAKER_00They do love a an animal, an inanimate object, something, a robot, whatever.
SPEAKER_03They have emotions. But I think it's like I was like, and sometimes like it's a reminder and that I think I'm like, no, an inanimate object does not have feelings. But like I I think that sometimes people forget that like trees are alive even if they don't speak. So to think that like this tree would like have feelings, or like I fucking can't stand animal cruelty. Or I'm like, you what do you mean you don't think that this animal has feelings? So it'd be like a robot that you literally program to still have that shouldn't maybe have empathy, does has empathy, is trying to save the world that we've got. Love Wally. Love this little robot.
SPEAKER_00One could make an argument AI. One could make an argument that Wally is AI.
SPEAKER_03Fuck AI. Wally's built different.
SPEAKER_00By definition, I would say he is an artificial intelligence.
SPEAKER_03AI. My homie Wally built different.
SPEAKER_00Alright. I guess there's no winning this battle. No, there's no winning. My number one, and maybe it's just out of nostalgia. It's not. I love this movie. Ratatouille.
SPEAKER_04I was waiting.
SPEAKER_00I'm pretty sure that was on my number, like in my top five movies episode. The very first episode we did 10 weeks ago. I think it was on that list.
SPEAKER_03Reminds me of your oh my god, is all your notes for this?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm looking back at our first episode notes. Yes, it was on my uh yeah. Ratatouille. I've already talked about it, but God, I can't watch that movie on an empty stomach. Yeah, that too. Yeah. That too. Paris is awesome. Paris haters. I don't want to hear anything about it.
SPEAKER_01Fuck hates Paris.
SPEAKER_00A lot of people do. There's a literal syndrome, like a medical condition of like going to Paris and hating it and being upset by it because you thought it was gonna be amazing.
SPEAKER_03Hate Parisians?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I mean, like French people can be sometimes rude to outsider people, but like I didn't experience that. Maybe I got lucky. I don't know. But I also made an effort to try and speak the language and not just like be an asshole tourist.
SPEAKER_03I like you tried.
SPEAKER_00I tried. I like I know like 10 phrases, but like right.
SPEAKER_03I think here's the thing is that like, and I I just am a little Gemini moon, and so I see things a little bit on both ends of this on the teeter-totter. Um that like I understand or like like I've I've been frustrated if I thought that something was ignorant or incompetent.
SPEAKER_00Sure. I mean you work with uh tourists all the time in your in your day job.
SPEAKER_03I'm not getting frustrated at them really.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_03Or like when I'm in my own, like you don't you you're not from here, right? You don't understand, and we don't speak the same language. You're trying your best, I'll try my best.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's how I feel.
SPEAKER_03But like it it for like the stereotype that like French people are always mean, that I'm like, I think that they might just be fed up with ignorance, and that's understandable.
SPEAKER_00And I I could totally understand them being a few.
SPEAKER_03Most Americans don't know what the fuck happens outside their own country, outside their own state.
SPEAKER_00Yes. So I'm like, which is just a detriment on us. That's not their fault. That's not Parisians' fault.
SPEAKER_03I know I'd be I'd be fucking annoyed too if I was dealing with somebody that didn't know what was going on.
SPEAKER_00And just yelling at you in English when they don't speak English.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like, give it a bonjour. Try. I got you know, I mean, you can speak French, so there's that. A little more than it.
SPEAKER_03Amateur.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Ratatouille.
SPEAKER_03Anyways, is a good film. Ratatouille is a good film.
SPEAKER_00Some of the best cooking scenes. Probably why I fell in love with cooking from the from that film. That probably was the start of it. I do love cooking, and I'm cooking French this week. You're invited. Um yeah. Ratatouille, man.
SPEAKER_03Do I just judge it in a Romanian way? I think my opinion on this is uh it's gonna be good. Solid. And you are a good cooker.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. All right. That's our Pixar movie lists.
SPEAKER_03That's I I have two more that I I wanted to shout them out solely for the music. And it's Cars and Turning Red.
SPEAKER_00And Soul.
SPEAKER_03A whole movie about music.
SPEAKER_00That movie's good.
SPEAKER_03Movie was really good. I haven't, I was I was just texting Juju and he was I was like, I you should probably rewatch this. I haven't seen it since 2020.
SPEAKER_00I haven't seen Soul since it came out, but I remember it being really good and loving it. I don't know why I haven't rewatched it. I've seen almost every other Pixar movie many times.
SPEAKER_03Remember that X?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He cried so hard. Which uh it it's not it's not funny that it he cried.
SPEAKER_00So he has a soul. Oh at least for an hour.
SPEAKER_03Great. It was it it was like unexpected. Because he's like not Yeah, but he plays piano emotional like that. He does play piano, he plays it really well. And anyways, he wrote a song for me. I know, I heard it. You did? Yeah, cool. I want to make sure there's a witness to that. Whether no matter how I end relationships, if you've ever written a song about me, one, I remember it. Two, I will brag about it. Three, I have I I possibly have it on my voice memos.
SPEAKER_00I'm sure. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That is top tier music. I listen to that song all the time. Turning red. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Four town, baby. I listen to that song all the fucking time. Thank you, Billy Eilish. Thank you, Phineas. Fucking solid. Love them.
SPEAKER_00All right. What have you watched?
SPEAKER_03So, so funny.
SPEAKER_00In the last week.
SPEAKER_03Hoppers LOL. Yeah, Hoppers LOL is not making my list, but was good. Was was still a good movie. What made me laugh, and this is spoilers, meh. Skip. But big spoiler also, like this is like a pivotal point in the fucking movie. Um, this was like such a somewhat normal-ish Pixar movie until so there's these fucking animals, and they all have kingdoms of their own species. Yep. One of them is an insect species like kingdom.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_03Um, and so this butterfly is talking her shit, and girly pop Mabel, who is a fake beaver, basically, like it is getting so fucking heated over what she's saying that she kills the fucking butterfly and then is like, oh, and everyone's like looking at her, and like her fucking like the like the butterfly son is like in the room and is like mom, and she dead ass is like, uh, and tries to open her hand a little bit, and then it's like, oh, it's sticky, and then puts her hands on the wall behind her and scrapes it off. And I was like, that is the most fucked up thing I've ever seen in a Pixar movie. I'm gonna kill your mom in front of you, and then wipe it. And then be like, uh, the body is so sticky. Ew. And it's all happened so like uncomfortably slow. Yeah. And then from I shit you not, from that point on, this fucking movie turned into a horror film.
SPEAKER_00I need to go see this.
SPEAKER_03And I was like, I for 45 minutes, I was just like, oh my god, me and Adam were both like, fuck, fuck, oh, oh my god, no, no, what the fuck? Kill him, fuck it, kill him, fuck it, kill all of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It really takes a turn there, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It went from like, oh my god, yes, save the environment, to oh my god, kill the mare. Fuck it.
SPEAKER_00Did you see Zootopia too, by the way?
SPEAKER_03Not yet.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03Um, and on top of that, we we did a double feature, so I also watched You, Me and Tuscany. Right. Yeah, guys, it's cute. At first, it's it's super like Hallmark cliche. Yeah. And I was a little worried in the beginning because I was like, I don't know. I don't know what I was expecting in the movie, but I I guess, and and I would like to make it sound less mean.
SPEAKER_00Just slow, I guess, to start, or maybe.
SPEAKER_03But it was just like when there's there's this mo like the it it from this moment, the whole the whole movie, I was like, the vibe is good now. I get it. Okay. In my head, I was like, I get it. This movie gets when you guys have your moment of chemistry. I was like, even like in some ways where I was like, even the way that like this fucking film is shot changed.
SPEAKER_00I do love Tuscany.
SPEAKER_03I love. Um, but uh it it was it was it was it was very cute and um I I think that everyone deserves to see themselves in in these roles. That's fair. Um I'm I'm happy to do that.
SPEAKER_00So you want to be in in the sequel?
SPEAKER_03Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00Is that just because you want to film a love story in Italy?
SPEAKER_03No, yes. Well yes, well yes, who doesn't?
SPEAKER_00I'll film anything in Italy, please. Period. Take me to Italy, please.
SPEAKER_03But also I loved Italy.
SPEAKER_00And we love love.
SPEAKER_03Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
SPEAKER_00Not to spoil anything else.
SPEAKER_03What did you watch?
SPEAKER_00When did we do the episode last? Sunday.
SPEAKER_03We've watched now episode two and three.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's all I have to review. Euphoria season three, episode two and three.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00I guess we'll start with two. Trying to bring myself back what happens in two, because I just rewatched three yesterday.
SPEAKER_03Um the Z club.
SPEAKER_00Z club. Bruce working at the club, which I think is fitting for her, but she wants to go legit.
SPEAKER_03That was crazy. She's like, I'm gonna go legit. I'm like, what?
SPEAKER_00Why are you saying that?
SPEAKER_03One, where I was like, don't say that to your boss. Two, I was like, what do you mean legit? You are doing something illegal.
SPEAKER_00That's what she meant.
SPEAKER_03Uh she's like, it's just something more legal. And I was like, what arms dealer is legal? The government?
SPEAKER_00That chick that she dropped off at rehab is for sure getting trafficked, though, right? Yeah, yeah, or dead. One of the two. Trafficked or dead. Either way, kind of dead.
SPEAKER_03R.I.P.
SPEAKER_00R.I.P. That kind of sucked, and we all knew it was bad. No paperwork at all.
SPEAKER_03She really should not have mentioned unnecessary N-words.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00Also, why was he so mad about the pig?
SPEAKER_03Twice, too.
SPEAKER_00After all the other words that were thrown at him by Lori.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I mean, here's the thing. And like I kind of get it, because in a way that like, um, if someone calls me a cunt, someone calls me a bitch, I truly do not fucking care. The second someone's like, Bella's a liar, oh, all bets are off. I'll fucking kill you. That's fair, I guess. Where I'm like, that's something that I'm like, that's so deep to my core. You don't lie. Do not do. Yeah. Where I'm like, now you're just now you're just making shit up.
SPEAKER_00Like actually.
SPEAKER_03Not just like making shit up where I'm like, what? Are you now you are you trying? What are you trying to ruin? What are you trying to I don't know?
SPEAKER_00I think honestly it was just because he wanted to kill the bird. I mean He wanted to have some weird animal feud thing.
SPEAKER_03I think that Sam just wanted to kill a bird.
SPEAKER_00I think he just wanted to have some weird animal feud thing, and he wanted to kill Lori's bird, and that was how he got around to it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. But that's that's what that's what I think that one really is where I'm like, it has to be like an insult that like for whatever reason cuts you deep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so apparently that cut him deep, and it clearly has started a whole, you know, gang war now, basically. Um I will say uh per the cliffhanger of last night's episode, do you think that that's actually the DEA? Um Or maybe maybe they tipped off the DEA because they said they were gonna kidnap her, you remember? And then like she brought back up. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03When the minute here's the thing, even before he like tapped his like badge on the glass, I was like, that bitch is wearing a Hawaiian shirt.
SPEAKER_00I know. Homie does not look like a cop.
SPEAKER_03So I was like, ah, what's the car behind them?
SPEAKER_00I know. That's what I was thinking.
SPEAKER_03So I'm like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Is that them impersonating a cop to pull her over to try and kidnap her? Like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03We can talk about this fucking wedding. The fucking wedding. Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_00Um loved the fits.
SPEAKER_03Love the fits. Oh, Hunter, you will never disappoint. Oh, oh, Alexis, you will never disappoint. Ever.
SPEAKER_00And Rue with the suit loved it.
SPEAKER_03Ah, that was fucking classic.
SPEAKER_00That was great.
SPEAKER_03That was so good. I was like, no, I love prom again. Kind of hated catching. I loved an uh another prom.
SPEAKER_00I was just like It looked like a literal trash can.
SPEAKER_03I was waiting for her nipple to pop out.
SPEAKER_00It did. She had pasties on.
SPEAKER_03So go look it up.
SPEAKER_00And Amanda were like, well, there, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because it was just it was like right.
SPEAKER_00During their dance, it did.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Titty.
SPEAKER_00Yep. The uh the jewels and um Do you think that that was a body double?
SPEAKER_03Because I'm thinking it was a body double.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, for who?
SPEAKER_03Hunter.
SPEAKER_00For what?
SPEAKER_03The the saran wrap.
SPEAKER_00So saran wrap? It's possible. Obviously, not the you know, shots with her face in it.
SPEAKER_03Well, that was what I was getting at. I was like the whole lighting situation was so dark. And even like the makeup was very heavy and dark.
SPEAKER_00It's very possible that she didn't want to do that scene and just did a body double. That happens all the time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All the time.
SPEAKER_03But I was just I w watched it and I couldn't tell, but I was like, hey, whatever you want.
SPEAKER_00A lot of times you can notice.
SPEAKER_03You're like, that's that's whatever you want, girl. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00She's been naked for that show before, too. Like, she doesn't owe them anything.
SPEAKER_03The only one that really can't get out of that, apparently, is fucking Sydney Sweetie.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't think she's done in this season either. Gotta gotta pay those bills somehow. She's gonna go back to OnlyFans. Um this time with Nate's blessing. This Nate Jacobs is pathetic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But it's also like it feels like the fucking the act like the if no, it feels like the realistic timeline of like someone who was the fucking hot shot, peaked in high school, it's true, bullied so many fucking people, ruined lives.
SPEAKER_00Yep, and thought he could go to the adult world and treat people the same.
SPEAKER_03Not even like go to the adult world and treat people the same, but just like thought that maybe like this fucking world would be handed to you on some fucking silver platter because you're six foot four and hot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's not working that way, I see.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so it's to be it's like I gotta relearn how to walk, bud. To see someone that's just like, oh, this you're trying so hard and it's not working. And now you don't have a pinky chip.
SPEAKER_00All of his friends are pissed at him because he takes thousands of dollars from his bros, and their entire lives are falling apart. I don't know where this is gonna go. Honestly, kind of in it more so for the Nate comeuppance story than anything else in this season. That's kind of my most entertaining part of this season so far. I it's I mean, I love seeing the characters we actually love, but like in terms of storylines going on right now.
SPEAKER_03And it's like just such a weird thought that like somehow, as awful as as Nate still is, uh this is his like healthiest version of himself.
SPEAKER_00He's by far the most healthy, which is so fucked.
SPEAKER_03So fucked. So bad.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he literally admitted to still being in love with uh Jules at his wedding.
SPEAKER_03Like Do you love who you love? Uh oh. I miss the original. There was a part of me that I was like, call him Tyler. Call him Tyler.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that would have been great. See what happens, see what happens.
SPEAKER_03Just to be like, you'll always be Tyler to me, or some cheesy shit like that. Something, something lame like that, but I wanted I wanted a callback.
SPEAKER_00I'm kind of sad Maddie left. I mean, I get it, but like that she left the wedding? Yeah. I wanted her to do something fun. Fucking Nate's mom, though, by the way.
SPEAKER_03When something they date somebody that's wrong for them.
SPEAKER_00That happened, guys. That really happened.
SPEAKER_03And you just gotta keep it.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_03You bitch.
SPEAKER_00Like Maddie is way better for him than Cassie ever was, but you know.
SPEAKER_03And that was still a toxic, toxic couple. That was awful. No, Madd, I'm so happy Maddie's out of that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, so happy.
SPEAKER_03Um, but the mom, I was just like, Your husband hates you.
SPEAKER_00Not yet. Shut up.
SPEAKER_03I was like, you are happy that like your son gets to be with Cassie because you were Cassie. So you just are happy that you're getting kidding.
SPEAKER_00Can we talk about Cassie's mom's fucking pet talk walking down the aisle?
SPEAKER_03I was like, you're such a bad mom.
SPEAKER_00That was awful.
SPEAKER_03Like either that I was like, or is this your like last Hail Mary to save her? It's one of the two. It wasn't though, because she's like, God, I was you're my this this was it angel or whatever. Maybe, maybe she was just like, You're my masterpiece. Yeah, you're my masterpiece. Go get him. And then I was like, I think your mom's trying to tell you to say no. I think your mom's trying to say say I don't and run away.
SPEAKER_00Whoa.
SPEAKER_03Maybe.
SPEAKER_00What? Like, I feel like people can hear you too, by the way.
SPEAKER_03Everyone can fucking hear you, girl. That was insane. That was gnarly. Why the fuck would you do that?
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_03Oh, and Lexi. Are you a virgin? It's better than having her face. God, Lexi, I love you so much. You're so funny. You're so funny.
SPEAKER_00There's some good characters in there. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I I mean I don't remember her name.
SPEAKER_03Like the I don't know if the internet remembers her name either. The girl with like the vape that came back. Oh, that was pregnant. Yeah, and she's like, that is a good thing. I know. Yeah. I forgot why she got canceled. I don't remember. But I I just remember she got canceled for something and then did not come back.
SPEAKER_00And now she's back for maybe just that one scene.
SPEAKER_03I want to say maybe just that one scene, because I was like, it probably just felt like a well, you're not getting Barbie Fierra back. You're you're not um getting rest in peace to a lot of our guests. Um anyone's sibling, you're not getting that.
SPEAKER_00Right. No, that's true.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Cassie's gonna be a little bit more than a little bit.
SPEAKER_00I wonder if um there'll be any scenes with Rue's mom in this one at all. Has that been confirmed if she's coming back or not? I can't remember. They're really good together.
SPEAKER_03Stormy that plays Gia's not.
SPEAKER_00I know she I know she's not coming back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I don't think I heard anything if mom's coming back or not. She did call in that like flashback scene in the first episode.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she calls her mom, but like her mom doesn't say anything the same way that she like calls Fez, and Fez doesn't really say anything. It's just that like they're talked about.
SPEAKER_00Right. I don't know. We'll see. But um yeah, I don't know. It's I we'll see. Yeah, we'll see, is honestly all I have to say.
SPEAKER_03I feel that like um when when um Jules comes home and like Mr. Surgeon is in the fucking shower. Right, right, right. But I'm also like she's holding the bouquet.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_03She caught the bouquet.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_03At Nate Jacob's wedding.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_03That's so good.
SPEAKER_00I love not showing that by the way, and she's just coming.
SPEAKER_03That's so that but that's so fucking good. That's something that'd be like, oh, that's so small to notice. But I was just like, in my head, I was I guess at first when she came in.
SPEAKER_00No, me and Amanda both were like, where'd she get the fly?
SPEAKER_03Oh literally, I was like, oh, she like took home arrangements, you know what I mean? And then I was like, that's the bouquet.
SPEAKER_00That's the bouquet.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, Jules caught the bouquet.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_03That's fucked.
SPEAKER_00Cassie threw that shit right to his love, her husband's love. Which we never saw. Um, I wonder if they filmed that just cut it for for like sake. But that was a longer episode, it was like an hour 15. I don't know, but I don't know. Either way, it was good. That that was a pretty solid episode overall, I would say.
SPEAKER_03I don't know how you know when like Rue like put the the money in in Jules' dress or bra or whatever, and she was like your jetty. I'm your sugar daddy now. That like look on Jules' face, I like is like I think she's uncomfortable. She was like not happy that you said that.
SPEAKER_00I don't think that Jules is all that comfortable with Rue in general. Fair. She just doesn't want to hurt her again.
SPEAKER_03I think she knows to Rue. Yeah, she'll always have some small thing for her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, 100%. I just feel like a lot of what Jules is doing is just for Rue to not cause more difficult relapse in Rue. Yeah, exactly. Even though she is California sober.
SPEAKER_03California sober is crazy. I smoke weed and every now and then I drink. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay. There are worse things.
SPEAKER_00You've done worse things. I miss the whole addiction storyline, honestly. It's a storyline that, well, for one, Sam Levinson, I feel like has grounds to actually uh talk on. Um but uh I don't know. It just felt a lot more personal because it was um and a lot more not even relatable because like I'm not a heroin addict, but you know, uh I guess she wasn't either. It was pills, but um yeah, I don't know. I miss I've like we've said before, the season one storylines, all of them. I am so curious where this show would have gone had they stuck to that, they all not done personal things to each other. There should have been a no-dating clause for all of the actors going into it.
SPEAKER_03Say Levi.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, what can you do? You spend that much time around people, you know.
SPEAKER_03I mean, in my head, I always think that I'm like, yes, like this would have been fantastic, but I don't we don't know that we don't know, and we don't know what happened, we don't know. And so it's like who's to say? It is because I was like, I don't want someone to all judge me on what the choices I make.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03One of them, like, how well does that person know me? Right. And they're gonna be upset that I did this thing, and I'm like, ah, I don't want to be judged on like my not brightest day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, of course not. Please don't judge me on my worst day or my best day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, judge somewhere in between.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 100%. Maybe like you're not gonna see Louis on either of those.
SPEAKER_03But like 75%. Yes. Maybe maybe an 80.
SPEAKER_00But give me a more a broader spectrum to judge me on would be ideal. Yeah. 100%. All right. That's it. That's all I got. I haven't watched anything else. Because I watch sports and stuff. So I will be watching more things before next episode. We have to figure out when we can shoot that. We'll get that. Anyways. Alrighty. You know where to find us.
