Episode #14 - Movies That Deserve a Sequel

This week Harrison discusses movies that deserve a sequel and the most recent Euphoria episode.

Welcome to the Shot On Film Podcast. Ooh, it got me this week. Okay. Um wow. That's probably because it's too early in the morning to be doing that. Um uh this week, obviously, by myself. Um Bella got last minute called like the day we were going to record this uh to be on set. Um, and I'm leaving for a camping trip. Um so had to do one by myself. Um yeah. Oh well, we're getting you some content of some kind, even though life happens. Um this week I'm gonna be talking about um, in lieu of what we talked about uh two weeks ago, uh movies that deserve sequels.

Um and yeah, um or whenever that was, maybe that was a while ago.

Um a recent episode. I was looking back in my notes, I couldn't find it. Um anyways, movies that deserve sequels, and then I'm gonna review uh the recent euphoria episode, um, which I think is the second to last one, or the next one this Sunday's being uh the final one, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Um either way, uh let me just get right into it. Um, it's not gonna be the longest episode because I'm not the chattiest, especially at this time of day.

Um, so yeah, let's do it. Um to start. Um Barbie.

Which might be surprising to some of you coming from me. Um, but no. The Barbie movie, Get Margot and Ryan back. Let's do Barbenheimer part two. No. Um yeah, I think that movie totally deserves a sequel, uh, especially if Greta Gargoy uh directs it. Um I know she's doing the Narnia series right now. Um, I think it's with Netflix. Um, but Barbie would be a fun movie to do a sequel of, like, genuinely, I think it'd be a lot of fun. Um, so that definitely deserves uh a mention. Um Treasure Planet. Um, of all the movies that Disney has made, and they love making sequels and remakes of movies that they've made before, uh I think Treasure Planet is an underrated and under talked about movie. Maybe not underrated, but under talked about. Um Treasure Planet would be a lot of fun. Um and I think I think that Disney should do that because Treasure Planet is just a fun world with fun characters that we could see in another story, and I think that could be a lot of good times. Um I would love to see another Star Wars movie in the realm of Rogue One, um, in that it's a spin-off that's directly tied to either the original trilogy or the prequels. Let's say it's um the rebels figuring out how they get to Hoth or um before Phantom Menace starts, like how does Naboo become blockaded? Um, you know, things that are tied to it. Um how does the Chancellor get kidnapped before Revenge of the Sith? Um, how does um I don't know, you know what I mean? Um, but just it'd be nice to uh do just more stuff like that. I because I think that was really helpful of just like that direct transition into the next movie. I think is cool to tie that in um more.

Um okay, let's see what else. Oh uh upgrade 2018, I think it was upgrade. Um it's like a action sci-fi action film if you haven't seen it. Um it's a really, really well done action movie. Um, I know I just said action links way too many times back to back. Um uh it's a really well done movie. Um, the stunt VFX or camera effects um and the way they shoot it with um just like the motion tracking of the body and the camera, just like all in one. Um, and just the brutality and the performance in that um because he's being controlled by a robot. He's like totally unaware of what he's doing and just like witnessing it as his hands do it, you know. Um well, if you haven't seen it, you don't know, but that's kind of the premise is this guy's body's being controlled by like an AI, basically, a computer chip in his head. Um so uh yeah, that that's that that's that's that. Anyways, it's really well done, and I'd love to see a sequel um with the same um, yeah, just the same, more more of the same, please. Um and then the last one that I saw on a lot of sites as I was doing research for this, um Inception. We need an Inception sequel, like so badly, that'd be awesome. Um Nolan doesn't do a lot of sequels, he's only done the Dark Knight trilogy. Um I think that's pretty much, yeah, that's pretty much it as far as sequels. Um, but I would love for him to return to Inception. Um it'd probably end up being a prequel, if I'm being honest, if you're gonna return to that world.

Just to know was the top gonna topple or not, would be lovely. But I know the world makes more sense if it was pre cool. Anything in the realm of the dreams and all that would be lovely. I mean, I'd love to also know the ending of Interstellar and if he uh gets to her, but like that's not the end of the world, and you're not gonna build a movie off of that. Um, unfortunately, for my wanting to return to that world, that's just not gonna happen. Um, and that's okay. Um, but Inception would be genuinely a good movie to make a sequel of, anyways. That's my list of movies that I think deserve a sequel. I know that was brief, and we're barely into this recording.

Um yeah. I don't have much more to say on that, but that's just me.

This is why I have Bella, and this is why we bring guests on. Um, but I'm doing my best. Um what I've been watching, uh, I've been really busy uh doing a million things, um, and some of which we're gonna talk about next week um more in depth um when Bella's back. Um and then yeah, so I haven't watched a ton, but I have watched the recent Euphoria episode, episode seven.

Um I guess spoiler free first. Um I'm sad. Um just sad because the show keeps getting kind of worse. And I liked this show a lot. And the second season I liked I didn't love. But now this is just it's pretty bad. It's unfortunate. It's it's yeah. It's rough. Yeah, I mean yeah.

I don't know where they're going, but obvious I don't think the show's gonna be wrapped up. So it feels like they're setting up another season with storylines that they're doing with Alamo, for instance. Um, I mean barring some crazy uh everybody dies except for, you know, a couple of main characters in some crazy event in the last thing. Uh which is possible. I don't think that's gonna happen. I think a few people might die, um, but not everybody.

Uh we'll see. Um yeah. Anyways, I'm just sad and disappointed.

Um and we're gonna see how they wrap it up and end it soon enough. Um yeah, it just sucks. And it's hard. I mean, maybe we should do an episode on uh TV shows that actually ended well because the list is actually short. Um, unfortunately, uh popular TV shows that ended well. Um so they have to have multiple seasons, I guess. That would because there's a lot of mini-series that are really, really good, but that's they're you know, they're miniseries. Um has to have a popular, longer running, anyways.

Um yeah, it just sucks. It's like I don't yeah, that's how this entire season is felt.

Anyways, um, if you haven't seen the recent episode um and you don't want spoilers, that would be the end of the episode. I'm not talking about anything else. Uh I'm gonna briefly talk about some spoilers. Um yeah.

They're trafficking and selling girls, it seems like. Um if I had to guess, but yeah. I'm sure it'll get confirmed before the end. Um yeah, it was unfortunate. It was very unfortunate. But what can you do?

Anyways, um sorry for the abbreviated uh episode this week. Um, and we'll try to get you something better next week. Um, wish I was more chatty, but it's really early. Way too early to be drinking. Yeah, do it for the vibes. That was cringy, anyways. Um, that's it. Uh that's it for me. Um have a good week. And if this is the final euphoria episode, uh let's all suffer together. Hopefully, not that badly. But you know, the track record's not looking great.
