SPEAKER_00

All right, throw the snacks down, cancel that last minute reservation, and ask yourself one simple question. Was that worth it? Here we go.

SPEAKER_02

Come on, everybody. Here we go.

SPEAKER_00

All right, welcome back to Here We Go, the Walt Disney World podcast where we talk rides, resorts, food, and how not to accidentally spend your entire vacation budget on one simple sit-down dinner. All right. So we just got back from Walt Disney World. My wife Kim is here with me today. Kim. Hey guys, how's it going? Uh we're midway through our week here after just getting back. So reality is hitting hard. It is 50 degrees where we live right now.

SPEAKER_01

Rainy, overcast.

SPEAKER_00

It's terrible. So what we want to do is talk about some of the sit-down, or or maybe we'll just talk about all the sit-down restaurants that we went to. You know, these are sit-down table service restaurants. We're not going to talk about quick service or quick eats. That'll be another episode. But we'll go over all our table service meals and really say, was it worth it? And what did what did we get from the experience from service the whole nine yards?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let's go over where we went on this vacation table service-wise. We went to California Grill when we first got in for to see the fireworks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We went to Topolinos Terrace. We went to Shiki Sigh. Oh, Shiki Sai. Beacon Barrel two times.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Skipper Canteen.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and then we went to Boat House. The Boat House. And then the summer house.

SPEAKER_00

Summer House on the lake. Where else? Sanaa.

SPEAKER_01

I think those are all the sit-downs.

SPEAKER_00

Sit-downs? Okay, great. So let's take these like one at a time. We'll go through them. We'll say what we really loved about them, what we didn't like. We'll talk about the service, the food, and say, was it really worth it? Because some of these had bigger, you know, bigger bills at the end of them. Yeah. Uh let's first let's talk about California Grill. It was on our bucket list, it was our honeymoon. So we decided to go to California Grill. This is at the top of the contemporary resort, which is right across from the castle and Magic Kingdom. So awesome view.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So Mitch got us reservations so that we would be able to view the fireworks.

SPEAKER_00

So we were there about an hour before the fireworks went off, and it was great. We timed it so perfectly. Our dessert was just coming as we got to watch the fireworks. And they're pumped they pump in the music, they dim the lights. We went out on the terrace and watched them. It was absolutely magical to see Happily Ever After fireworks from that view. You know, you're usually obstructed by some kind of ride if you're not in front of the castle, or you're obstructed by somebody holding an iPad or a whole family of tall Scandinavian people or something. You know what I mean? It's like I've never gotten a more perfect view. You know, just talk about fireworks for a second on that on this trip. You know, we saw these fireworks from Tomorrowland. We saw them riding Snow White and Seven Dwarves Mine Train. But the best view we had of these particular fireworks was that California Rail.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was great.

SPEAKER_00

We got right up there, too. Like we were there probably like 20 minutes early, and they were pretty accommodating. They took us right upstairs, they gave us a great table with a view because it was our honeymoon, honey, honeymoon. They gave us an awesome view.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh uh Jay was our waiter. He was awesome.

SPEAKER_01

He was great, he was like super helpful with like um, you know, explaining like the gluten-free options and everything. And I got to eat like things that I didn't think I was gonna be able to, so that's really nice because they were really good about making like little um modifications, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I think that's like a big takeaway, too, is for people going, if you do have allergies, you know, let them know because they can make modifications that aren't specifically on that menu. So we were going there thinking, like, oh, she's not gonna be able to have sushi. Next thing you know, she's got rolls, sushi. Those yeah, those rolls that you got were great. So they had tapioca rolls, yeah. Those were really good, they were awesome. And and it came with like uh some tomato cone fee oil and some salted whipped butter. Yeah, that was great, it was really good, and you know, my rolls were great too. Uh for appetizers, we got a couple of sushi rolls, uh, surf and turf roll.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was great. It had like the wagyu beef on top. Yes. Um, that was delicious. I have no notes on that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, no notes. I love it. Yeah, there was uh like the wagyu beef on that one, and then there was uh the what was the other roll? It was like called like a Shazam roll or something like that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was like a spicy roll.

SPEAKER_00

He was like trying to explain him, like, okay, whatever, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because I don't think it was on the actual menu, it was like a special.

SPEAKER_00

They just made it. He like he probably named it right there Shazam.

SPEAKER_01

Poof, you're getting this.

SPEAKER_00

So just make sure you like ask them about like other options, especially for like the sushi rolls, because they only have the surf and turf, I think, on the yeah, and there was like another one barbecue to eel, and then there's like a veggie roll, but this one wasn't on there, and and he uh made it for us, and then she ordered they they'll take your order right at the beginning for everything that you're getting. Uh, she ordered the pork two-ways, so it was the uh pork tenderloin and the pork belly, and for dessert, she got the flourless chocolate cake, and I ordered the filet, and it had whipped garlic potatoes, and I believe there was maybe some broccolini on it, it was really good, and uh then for dessert I got the goat the blueberry goat cheese cheesecake, which was probably one of the best desserts I had the whole entire time I was there.

SPEAKER_01

It was yeah, it was a very pretty presentation, too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's something we'll put on the social media uh page just so you can see. Uh, for those of you who are not following, please follow Mitch Does Disney at Mitch Does Disney on Instagram and Facebook. Uh, all of our stuff will be there to be able to, you know, check out the uh the pictures, the video reviews. So follow that. But let's talk about this meal a little bit more. The pork.

SPEAKER_01

The pork was delicious, it was served on polenta, yes, and it had like some thinly sliced apples.

SPEAKER_00

Um there was like fennel, a little bit of the salad. Oh, the other thing that we got with this meal was we did the scallop add-on, and it was like two big scallops on top of fried rice with caviar. That was really good.

SPEAKER_01

For some reason, it wasn't gluten-free, so I didn't try that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and and and it was it was crazy, it was only like 19 bucks. So we're like, okay, might as well add it on. Yeah, let's add it on. Uh, all in all, I think this meal was wonderful. I think the view was wonderful. Jay was great. I kept on ordering uh what were they? The Arnold Palmers. Yeah, and he just was like, as soon as one was done, he was right there firing uh another one back. He said that he was a real estate agent and he was gonna try to get us to move down to Florida. Yeah, it was very funny. He's like, when you're ready to move, I'm a real estate agent.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, okay, but yeah, and the flower flowerless chocolate cake really was delicious. I think that might have been one of my like favorite desserts.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there was like that's really good. It was good. There was like hazelnuts and stuff on it. It was it was really good. But yeah, all in all, uh, was it worth it? I mean, that was the priciest meal. That and Topolino's Terrace were the two priciest meals that we had.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I think that it was just because the food was amazing, but also you had a show basically with it, yeah. You know, watching the fireworks from right there.

SPEAKER_00

So let's just go right into Topolino's Terrace then because I think yes, California Grill was worth it. Let's talk about our meal at Topolino's Terrace. Now, this was a pivot, which is crazy. We had originally booked Topolino's for a character breakfast on Saturday, which we then canceled. The night before we end up doing what is that? We do that on Thursday night. Correct? Yeah, Thursday night. So a couple nights before then. On Thursday night, we end up going, all right, let's cancel our what was the meal that we had planned.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, we had like uh we had beaches and cream, I think, late night, but then we also had uh oh, I don't know Le Celier or something like that.

SPEAKER_00

I think we had another chicy side, didn't you have like something we had something we're like you know what the parks were getting kind of congested? I was hungry. We were like, I can get us to Topolino's Terrace and we can watch the Epcot, we can get out of Ebcot because it was getting busy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because we actually went back to the hotel for a little bit, chilled out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, went in the pool. Yeah, we're like, you know what? We can go back into Ebcot, or we can say to heck with going back in, watch the fireworks, the Epcot fireworks from Topolino's Terrace, and that's what we did. And again, walked in, beautiful dining room. They give us a seat right next to the window, front like front row seats for the fireworks to come. And uh what was the the waitress's name? Oh man, I'm gonna forget this one. She was so good. I wish we were really good. I wish I could remember her name. It was to me, it was Taylor. Yeah, it was Taylor. Taylor was phenomenal. She made some great suggestions when we sat down. Again, took us through the menu. We just we like to sit down and just order. Like, we know, like right there, if you take us through it, we're gonna order. And we did. She's recommended the filet of sole, which I was like, that no way, this is gonna be good. Yeah, I'm like, okay, whatever. Kim, you get the filet of sole.

SPEAKER_01

I like to get fish, so I was like, I'll get it.

SPEAKER_00

I'll get the filet. I'll get this, I'll get another fillet, which I never eat fillets around here, but in Disney I eat a lot of filet. Uh, order the steak. The sole was the best thing I had had the entire trip. The sole was amazing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it really was. The presentation was great. Um, just like the sauce that it was in was like kind of sweet, lemon.

SPEAKER_00

Lemon caper. It was like brown butter. It was so good.

SPEAKER_01

They didn't even like she said they usually kind of like bread it a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

Or it was just like a dusting and flour before it goes in the pan. They didn't do it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because to make it gluten-free.

SPEAKER_00

And it was great. I honestly the fish tasted like lobster, it was absolutely phenomenal. I would order that a hundred times over. It was the best thing that we had the whole entire time. My steak was great, it was the best steak that we had.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was basically the same. Yours was basically the same meal as um California Grill, but you said the steak was better.

SPEAKER_00

The steak was better and it had a different sauce. There was like truffle mushroom sauce going on. There's truffle potatoes. It was great. The steak was better cooked there, you know, perfect medium rare. Uh the food was great. We also got uh some Marsella glaze Brussels sprouts, and then we did a whipped ricotta as an appetizer as well. They had some cone-feed tomatoes. She got the same gluten-free bread, yeah, came with this. And there's the you know, they put down like these cups of this amazing olive oil down that's so fruity and delicious with the bread, and that whipped ricotta, it was very, very good. The uh that meal, you know, I ended that meal with a tiramisu creme brulee, which my my gosh, like two of my favorite desserts into one. Yeah, the fireworks are then going off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and then my dessert, I got a scoop of the salted caramel and a scoop of chocolate gelato, and they came out like with cute little like mouse ears, little chocolate like tail. So it was very cute.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she had little mouse, little mouse ice creams. They were and they were really, really good. And we got the fireworks at the same time, and again, they're dimming the lights, they pump in the music. It's just magical. Those were the two most expensive restaurants that we had through the whole entire trip. What were they worth it? For me, 1000%. Yeah, I think they were so worth it because you get a dinner and a show that's so uh I you know, as far as which one was better, I think Tobolino's Terrace had the better food, and I think California Grill had the better firework show.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, that's that's kind of for me the dessert at California Grill is better, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But uh I would say that I would say the almost the same thing. And actually, I like the appetizer better because I like the sushi roll better than the but the soul, I will say the soul it like stole every show it could ever steal. It was the best thing that we ate at Walt Disney World. Was it were they worth it? Yes, 100%. All right, so let's go in uh and talk chicky sci since we're uh talking Epcot. Uh, that is the sushi restaurant in Walt Disney World. We ordered uh grilled seafood roll, we've got uh another rainbow roll that we had. There was a salad that they did that was really good, a ginger salad at the table.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, that was great.

SPEAKER_00

And then we did these um uh a couple of don bowls, which one had spicy tuna don, so it was just like spicy tuna on top of rice, and the other one was kind of like a sharashi, uh assorted fish over the top of seasoned sushi rice with masago and wasabi and you know cucumbers and ginger, cucumbers. Yeah, it was really good. Everything we got there, I will say, was really good. To me, was it worth it? I don't think I'd go back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, I don't think it was it wasn't super expensive. Um it was definitely cheaper than the first two meals.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but was it worth it to me in a restaurant filled with five dollar, seven dollar charcuterie and little bites in a park chock full of food? Sure, I want to beat the heat, but if I ever did it again to do a quick eats, I'd do it probably in Mexico. Yeah, you know, just something quicker, easier, cheaper, still getting the AC that you're looking for. Uh, you know, was it worth it to me? Shiki Sai, not worth it. I probably would have liked to go over to Tepanito and go over and get the hibachi more, you know. I think the sushi was okay, but it wasn't like blow your mind sushi. It was just decent sushi. So sorry, Shiki Sai, not worth it.

SPEAKER_01

Didn't make the cut.

SPEAKER_00

He didn't make the cut. All right, let's go on and talk about uh the beacon barrel one time. Uh it was a restaurant that we went to a couple times. We're gonna count this as a sit-down. It is a lounge, it is uh next to Pirates of the Caribbean and Magic Kingdom. I absolutely loved it in here. The first time we got there, we we we got went twice. We got a good table the second time. The first time, uh, I basically had to stare at like you know a bathroom door, like an exit door, no, no show. They called it the captain's corner, and it was like, yeah, okay, you can put captains on it, but I'm literally staring at uh, you know, the emergency exit rules to evacuate this crowded tavern.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but but they had me at the corn griddle cakes, they were so good.

SPEAKER_00

We had those, and we just went, I no things everything we had was comparing to these two. These corn griddle cakes at Beacon Barrel to die for. Yeah, we got a couple. We got a couple of their specialty drinks. Like I ended up doing the uh the treasure trove, and it was uh like an ube lemon coconut concoction, and it had like three desserts it came with, you know. So for 13 bucks, not bad because it came with like a vanilla cake on a stick, a chocolate double chocolate cake pop, and a bunch of caramel corn with the drink. So not a bad deal. Yeah, but the second time we went, I didn't want any kind of crazy drink. I just went, Do you guys have Diet Cokes? And they brought out the crispiest Diet Cokes and chilled copper mugs. It was the best diet coke, life changing, life-changing Diet Cokes. It changed the molecular structure to this Diet Coke, it was amazing. It's like so cold, and I was like, keep them coming, you can all there, and it's a two-drink maximum there. So I'm like, Did these Diet Cokes count? Like, can I get another one? Like, what can we do? That guy in there was fun, he was so good, nicest guy. Couldn't tell you his name.

SPEAKER_01

And he actually he brought so we both ordered that time around. We both ordered the chicken griddle cakes, and he said, Oh, you really should try the corn one, it's great. So then he ended up bringing us out one like on the house, just so we could try it.

SPEAKER_00

Just so we could try it. It had like marinated, kind of like a lote corn in it, and it honestly was better. Uh, I think the pro move is like, can we combine them? Can I have chicken and that marinated corn? Yeah, we did the dips that were really good.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, you know, came with plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, and toasted flatbread, and then they came with like the mango chutney, the garlic chimichurri.

SPEAKER_00

The star of that was that uh creamy cilantro dip.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was so good.

SPEAKER_00

Zesty cilantro zesty.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry, it was zesty, and then like the spice guava, like jam, was it? Yeah, so good.

SPEAKER_00

And it was the place was great. Again, another meal and a show for a way cheap meal and a show. There every couple minutes, like something, every 15 minutes, something new would happen in there, and you can get up and move around to see what was happening. The parrots going, they're singing, you know, the weather's changing. It was I loved it. It wasn't worth it. Yeah, yes, it was it was worth it.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't it was pretty cheap and delicious food. Yeah, that ambiance.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Now let's go to skipper canteen. I think for me on this trip, this was one of the the more lackluster trips in the skipper canteen.

SPEAKER_01

So sad because I've literally been like so excited to go back there, and then I just feel like I don't know if I just made the wrong choice. You did.

SPEAKER_00

We weren't as hungry, I think, going in there. We wanted like dessert for sure, and we didn't even eat dessert there. We ended up leaving to go get Dole Whip because their desserts didn't sound that great to us. I went rogue and I always get that uh hearty char su pork, and I didn't do the pork, I did shrimp noodles, and they were just okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, pad tie.

SPEAKER_00

It was like a thing, it was like an okay pad tie, you know. I I would say they're all right. She got the cachapas, which were more corn cakes. She ate corn cakes twice. I'm like, don't order those. You just had a good corn cake, and then she just basically ordered these, which were worse corn cakes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they were good, but yeah. And then I ordered some weird other appetite appetizer. Appatower of tuna. Yeah, it was like tuna tartare.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, tuna tartare. Oh, with avocado. It was weird. It was like swimming in like lemon juice and olive oil.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that wasn't great. It wasn't great. I don't know what I was doing. Oh, but we did have the pet of cashu.

SPEAKER_00

They were still like I've made them at the house. I'm not, I was not blown away by Skipper Canteen this trip. I think next time that we go to Disney, I think that we should try going to sit down at Tony's Town Square or something like that. There are like that beef jardiners you can get at gluten-free. There are gluten free things that you could get and like try Tony's Town. Like, I run out of places to eat a lot in Magic Kingdom sit-down-wise, because it's like be our guest, Cinderella, Skipper.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but now we have beacon barrel, it's like a lunchtime.

SPEAKER_00

I thought beak was great. Thing, yeah, if you can get that reservation, which I didn't find it that hard, but honestly, I got two of them uh to get in there. I think that's a great way to go in there, even with a big group. They have these huge booths in there and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, I will say that our server at Skipper's Transcription was great, and she brought brought us out like a little gift certificate for uh free dole whip.

SPEAKER_00

So Mickey was great, you know. Shout out to Mickey, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Mickey.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but yeah, was it worth it? No. Unfortunately, I don't think this trip to Skipper Canteen was worth it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it and it just didn't live, it didn't live up to like all the other great restaurants that we went to.

SPEAKER_00

That's it. Everything else was just beating it up. Oh no, you're sad. I know. I'm gonna have to go back and redact it from those other episodes of you. Everything was like Skipper Canteen.

SPEAKER_01

All right, but that was like the time that we didn't do many sit-downs because we had the kids with us.

SPEAKER_00

So that's it, I know. You won't do as many with when having all the children. All right, so uh let's talk about the next restaurant on this list. Let's go over to Sanaa. Now, this is a restaurant that I've been wanting to go to for like 12 years, okay? Always wanted to try Sanaa. We cut our we cut our Animal Kingdom Day done at like 11:30. We did everything you can want to do. We went on flight of passage, we went to Expedition Everest, we went over to the the Safari, and you know, we were standing in line about to go to the safari, and we went, you know what? Let's go ahead and go to Sanaa. I got a reservation, we went over to Sanaa, got lunch, and I it was great. The view there again, it's it's a meal and a show. We did a uh like uh one of the stews, and we did the nut and the bread service. She was able to get gluten-free bread service, which I thought was great. Gluten-free non, there's nine different dips. I got to choose a bunch of these different non-breads. I got a cheese stuffed one, a spicy one. There's nine dips. I couldn't tell you what they all are, but you got mango chutney, there's cucumber raida, there's spicy ones, there's creamy ones. They're great. And then we ended up getting basmati rice, butter chicken, and then we got the like stewed beef. The beef. It was like a curry beef, but it had like a cinnamon kind of flavor to it.

SPEAKER_01

That was really good.

SPEAKER_00

And then we had the sweet tomato and onion uh chickpea masala, which was really good, and some basmati rice. This meal was really, really good. And I don't think that we spent a ton of money going there for the food that we got. We got blasted full. Yeah, it was not very expensive. And we got to look at we were literally looking at zebras, giraffes, the gluten-free dessert was like a chocolate on chocolate dome. It was like marshmallow chocolate on top of a chocolate torque with what I guessed, and this was very funny. Our server there, I go, Can I guess what the sauce is on the side? She's like, Yeah, sure, you're not gonna get it. I go, it's cocoa powder mixed with sweet and condensed milk. She goes, Oh my god, you guys exactly what that is. Uh, because it was like almost like caramel chocolate, but it but it looked so light. That was delicious. That was really, really good. But Sanaa, let me ask you this. That restaurant being on the Serengeti. Yeah, it was cool.

SPEAKER_01

You look out the window, you can see like the giraffes and I'm not gonna lie, burped it up forever.

SPEAKER_00

It gave me like Indian food indigestion for the rest of the day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was really good. I don't know if I'd go back there like again right away.

SPEAKER_00

Out of the way. I want to try um uh what is the other one there? So it's Sanaa, there's Jico, and there's Boma, which is like the the uh buffet there, Boma. I want to try Boma. So that's gonna maybe on the next trip try Boma.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, was it worth it to me? I say yes. I think it's worth it. It's not like I'm gonna rush back because I think it's an off-the-beaten path. Yeah, but it was definitely worth it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it was worth it. It wasn't like crazy priced or anything.

SPEAKER_00

If you ever wanted to go to Sanaa, please go to Sanaa. The bread service alone was outstanding. Uh all right, so now we get into our brunch. The one brunch that we had the whole entire time was so we changed from Tobolino's Terrace character breakfast to brunch at the boathouse, which is a uh dueling piano yacht rock brunch. You know, it's a piano brunch.

SPEAKER_01

So they say it was right in front of the pianos.

SPEAKER_00

I asked to be at the front of the piano and man, they put us inside the piano. I couldn't hear myself think. It was um, it was good. The dueling pianists were awesome. They took up my a request for our wedding song, which was kind of cool.

SPEAKER_01

Uh then, of course, right when they started playing our wedding song, the waiter came over and he was standing right in front of them talking, and we're like I'm trying to like look around him, and then finally I was like, Um, do you mind coming back in a few minutes?

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, you were you were like getting choked up, and you're looking at me with like loving eyes, and Reggie's like, I was like, Reggie, get the heck out of me. We've been waiting for a little bit too. The service was not great that day. Like Reggie was just like, Hey, can I get you some water? Yeah, Reggie, please get us some water.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, take the hint, Reggie.

SPEAKER_00

He couldn't take the hint. Uh, I think the food was okay that day. We did wait a long time, those rolls were good. I usually really, really like the boathouse. We got some oysters, yeah. We had a couple oysters and then uh it was like their crab, that was like a crab Louis, it was like a crab tower, but it had like a tarragon sauce on top of lump crab with avocado and roasted red peppers and lemon. I thought that was the best thing that we had there. Yeah, that was good. It was really good. You got chorizo breakfast tacos, yeah. They were fine, and I got the shrimp and grits with scrambled eggs. It was the a massive amount of food. Uh it was it was fine, but it was maybe like six scrambled eggs and a huge bowl of grits. It was right, I was like, I can't even. It was like the same flavor over and over again. And I just it wasn't the best thing that I have ever had at the boathouse. Uh, was it worth it that day with dinner and a show? Cool, not worth it for me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It was fine. It was fine. All right, so not worth it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, probably not worth it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so I don't want to, you know, we ended up getting Gideon's uh cookies.

SPEAKER_01

We uh we got the the oh my god, the cold brew, the peanut butter cold brew was yeah, I had the French toast cold brew, and then we went and got the pistachio afogato. Yeah, we had a lot of coffees and pistachious so good pistachio.

unknown

So good.

SPEAKER_00

The pistachio afogato was amazing there. I ended up finishing off. That lady there uh did pin trading with me right across the way at Gas Relations next to the Afogato stand, and she gave me a chaser pin for a regular pin. It was like the nicest thing. And to finish off a set I needed, uh the buses. She gave me a maleficent bus. It was the nicest thing. Yeah, they were there super nice. So we walked around, did some more shopping, you know, looked around, did some pin trading, and we got hungry again. So we ended up going to Summer House, which we had booked. That's what we had is like summer. Summerhouse for dinner or whatever, right? So we ended up doing this for lunch, and it was a late lunch. We just rolled in and we just ordered two things fish and chips and a spicy cheese, gluten-free pizza with prosciutto on it. Yeah, the ambiance in this place, better, in my opinion, than the boathouse. Yeah, the decor is like amazing, amazing. It's like the best-looking restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn't have to sit outside the heat. Yeah, it was fine though. We overlooks the lake, uh, and we ordered the fish and chips, and they basically gave us two huge portions of fish and chips because they're like, these are half portions. Yours is gluten free, uh, because it had uh regular fries and mine had gluten only because it had malt vinegar aioli fries. Uh other than that, the fish itself and the French fries are gluten-free until they roll it in the malt vinegar powder.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and the the bread, like the coating on the fish was really good. Crispy, light.

SPEAKER_00

Tartar was great. The fries were like super crispy, McDonald's cell fries, those shoestring fries are awesome. The pizza was good. I I wish we would have chosen a different kind of pizza.

SPEAKER_01

I don't love the pizza. I thought the sauce was a little like source.

SPEAKER_00

Sour tomato, yeah. I think we just didn't choose, right? We should have got that mushroom pizza or the sausage one. Yeah, but yeah, I would definitely go back for the fish and chips and try some other things. The star at the end of this thing is I got the Thai banana cookie. I had too many cookies that day. And a Thai banana cookie, and it was chewy, delicious, very different than a Gideon's cookie. It was like kind of like an ooey gooey, kind of like a little crisp on the outside, gooey in the middle, filled with these uh Thai bananas. It was really, really good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it looked great, smelled really good. Yeah, you caught some whiffs.

SPEAKER_00

Kim caught whips.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, let me just smell it for just a second.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, would you say, was it worth it? Um, I say yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, I don't think we even needed the pizza. I was I was good with we brought almost the pizza back to the room. I know. I wanted to try a pizza.

SPEAKER_00

The fish and chips was really good. Really good. I think trying a different pizza there, maybe even getting gluten on the pizza.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it probably would have been better if it had a regular crust, but you were nice and got the gluten-free.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was okay. The gluten-free crust wasn't bad at all. Is that it? How does that all of our we we gotta have one more on here, don't we?

SPEAKER_01

No, and we we went back to beacon barrel again. Okay, but that's it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so that concludes our Was It Worth It at Walt Disney World table service restaurants for this trip for us. I think we found some hidden gems. I think we found out that we really, really like Topolino's terrace, and we really, really like Beacon Barrel.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and California Grill.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not gonna knock the California Grill, I think I'll end up going back there. I would go to California Grill too and just sit at the bar and order off that menu.

SPEAKER_01

That'd be kind of nice because otherwise it's a prefix menu, so you're locked into that prefix.

SPEAKER_00

I would go back to Topolino's and really just go in there and eat just the soul, just the soul. I would suck the soul out of that place. I would just eat the soul out of that whole that whole entire establishment. It was so good in there, but yeah, that we had a great time. And beacon barrel, I'll I'll be back. Yes, definitely. Even if we go with the kids, that'll be that's fine. I think, and I think we did find some restaurants we would take the kids to, and you know, Sheiki side, probably not one of them. Maybe Tepaneto, like the we I saw like the hibachi happening on the other side. Uh I've done that before, I think it's good. Uh, you know, maybe not Sanaa, but maybe we try Boma uh when we go back to Animal Kingdom. I think it'd be kind of cool. Or not, you know, when we go back to Animal Kingdom that go to the lodge again. It was just cool being around those grounds, it's so far out of the beaten path, but what a cool place. You're just giraffes walking around like, whoa, all right, take it easy, buddy. Like you were right next to you know, there's all kinds of things, kudos and zebras and giraffes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was very cool.

SPEAKER_00

That was very cool. Well, listen, this is gonna wrap up our Is It Worth It table service edition of the Here We Go podcast.
