All right. Welcome back to Here We Go, the Walt Disney World Podcast, where we talk all things, rides, food, and everything you're dreaming about going on your next Disney World vacation. We're dreaming about that too. But today, this week, we're taking on the hundred dollar Disney Day Challenge. All right, you ready for that, babe?

I'm out. Uh yeah. So what we're tasked to do here today is we are going to build the ultimate Walt Disney Day, and all we have is a hundred dollars to work with. So the only rules are you have to eat at least two meals. We can debate whatever you think meals are. Uh you have to have at least two snacks. Okay?

I'll say two snacks, two meals. All right. So is there anything else we want to get into? Well then. So that's what we're gonna do today. It's gonna be the hundred dollar Disney Day Challenge. Uh, before we get into it, is there anything that you want to talk about Walt Disney World? I mean, we're we're counting down the days here. We're within 40 days or so. Yeah, about 40, yeah, 45 days until our trip. I'm so pumped up. We're saying that art of animation, we've we've done all of our ads and we're just getting ready. So I think this is like this was a cool task to say, all right, here's a hundred bucks. How how great of a day can you make it? You know, we'll talk about our rides and shows as we go through like you know, how we would spend our day and literally spend our day. You like that pun? Oh I'm punny, I'm big pun. Um, but like it's it's interesting because we really did debate if we would do the dining plan or not. Yeah, and if we're gonna stay to this, you know, and can really who's gonna stretch a hundred dollars more. The goal here is who's gonna have the best day, and we can talk about the end for under a hundred bucks. And so we'll talk about the budget. We'll talk about you know what we got for our dollar and how we spent our day. Um, so how do you want to do it? Do you want to just uh go through your day first?

Um, so I'm gonna go over to Satuly's canteen and I'm gonna grab that ube cold brew. Nice. Because I've been dreaming about it.

Um, and then I'm gonna get the fritata and beef bowl, which we had seven way. Yeah, that was great.

It was really good. It was basically like an egg fritata with onions and uh potatoes, yeah, and then there was like an herbed goat cheese on this thing. Yeah, there was goat cheese. And then like a shaved beef. Yeah, and the beef wasn't even like super hot or anything, it was almost like shaved like sirlo, like sirloin steak. It was like medium rare steak. It was really good. They had like a chimichurry sauce over the top. Didn't it have some kind of like sauce on it? There was like lettuce as well, wasn't there like a little salad? Yeah, there was greens.

Yeah, yeah. So uh the breakfast $13.99, the cold brew, $6.29. So I am starting out at $20.28.

Okay. Well, that's pretty good. All right. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to math that way. I've got like my whole day, so I don't know if I'm mathing the way you're mathing. But let's say we'll get the total at the end. Yeah, but yeah, let's talk about the price of that. So so you're $13.99 for that bowl.

That's probably like one of the like pricier options. It is like the pricier, probably the most expensive thing that I have for the day. But I feel like a good breakfast, just really like lay the base, so you you know, I got one that's $14.29 on my list.

Um, all right. So after I uh eat that, I'm gonna go over to Expedition Everest.

Yeah, and then go see that disco Yeti, see it in B mode. Yes, he's gonna be sitting there, there's just gonna be strobe lights on him. Uh, it does scare me every time we go by, even though it has strobe lights and it's not moving. Yeah, it's scary. I I think I've said on this podcast before, but do you know what's going on with that thing? I mean, that was the most expensive animatronic. Uh, well, the most expensive animatronic is in uh the Navi River journey, which I don't think you've ever been on. There's like a crazy avatar shaman that's like, oh no way, oh no way. It's like giant animatronic, and it's like kind of giving it like a YMCA type of dance. And uh that was like $28 million. This Yeti was a lot as well, but it's it it opened up, and this Yeti was moving around, and it was so heavy that it started to like crack the foundation of the mountain. And so there was no way to like get in to you know fix this. Yeah, so all they did is make it stop moving and threw a strobe light on it, and now it's like the disco yeti. So when you go to you like, ah, it still gets me. I'm I'm still afraid of it because it's a giant animatronic. Yeah, like just like jaws used to pop jaws used to pop up out of the water at Universal, and I and people are like, it's you know, my grandpa's like, you know, it's just a robot. Don't you don't need to be scared? And I go, it's a one-ton shark robot.

I'm still scared. I know, but like I like being like scared, I like getting that like startled feeling. So it's cool.

All right. Um, so over there, I'm gonna definitely want to hit up the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the Muppets Coaster. And then when I get hungry, I'm gonna go to Woody's lunchbox and have the gluten-free tachos.

So those are $10.99, so that's not bad. I'll just drink water with it. I don't, you know. Yeah. So I'm just gonna have some ice water that's free. Okay. Tachos now we're at $31.27.

Uh $10.99. That's not bad.

There's like the kids are always playing those stupid drums. They got sex with it. It's just like a bunch of kids over there, like getting the getting the drums, you know, for no reason. I gotta admit that I've done it before.

For sure.

Okay, so now we're taking the monorail, she's free. We're going over, we're going over to the Magic Kingdom. What a great way to end it. For sure. So we have such vastly different days. Yeah. Yeah, I like this. Yeah, we could do this a bunch of times. I was as I was doing this, I was thinking about other ways that I could do this and go to different spots, which I think we should try to do. Like, this probably won't be the longest episode we've ever done. Yeah, but I think it would be fun to be able to do a part two. Maybe we'll come back next week and try to do this again because I think this is a great budget-friendly. These are tips and tricks for people to go to some of these spots. Yeah. If we can get you in under this amount of money, uh, we're doing it.

Yeah, for sure. All right, so when I get to Magic Kingdom, I definitely want to go on Pirates of the Caribbean. Yep. And probably hit up like the haunted mansion over there. Okay. And then when I get hungry for dinner, I'm gonna go over to Paco's Bill because they have like the best like kids' meals, I feel like.

Oh yeah, they got a good Sunday over there. I like that. And this is about eight bucks. So, what is your how many items did you get?

I got three meals and then two sweet treats. Okay, snacks. Okay. Um, and I got the iced coffee. Yeah. And then just drinking ice water the rest of the day. That's fine. And so my grand total, I mean, the most expensive thing was breakfast. That was 20 bucks.

The next time I do this, is probably end in the Magic Kingdom. On mine, I started in the Magic Kingdom. Okay, and I enter this park and I get myself a Shaken Jamaican from Joffrey straight off the bat. I get myself a Shaken Jamaican cold brew. It's $6.49. I love this drink. It was either that or I was gonna like because I'm gonna go over towards like Adventureland. Okay, and I was thinking like maybe I would get like that honey lavender cold brew that they have over there. I don't love the taste of lavender, but yeah, maybe I do. I don't know. We went to this lavender festival over the weekend. Maybe I do like lavender, maybe it's growing on me. Yeah, maybe it's Maybelline. I'm not sure, but I I I'm into uh a cold brew in the morning, and it's gonna be six dollars and 49 cents. I think I'm gonna get that shake in Jamaican. I like the coconut cold brew. I think it's delicious. That's my favorite Joffrey's drink, to be honest. Don't be peeking at my list. You're peeking. It's got gluten all over this thing. You'll get sick looking at it. All right, so I'll get my shake in Jamaican. I'll eat, I'll, I'll, I'll drink that. I'm gonna Pirates of the Caribbean right out in the morning. That's like one of those things that I love to do early. So let me when I smell pirate water, I'm like, all right. We're funky. Juices are flowing. Now, either before or after I ride Big Thunder Mountain Rail Railway, because I haven't been on it since the refurb.

I'm gonna get my breakfast, which is gonna consist of an $8.49 giant Mickey bacon pecan caramel cinnamon roll. That is my breakfast. Breakfast of champions. That's the breakfast of champions, and it counts as breakfast because they only serve it till 11 o'clock anyway. So this counts over at Westward Ho. I can't talk about this thing enough. Now I could have saved a buck, and for $7.49, I could have gotten that gas on cinnamon roll. But this cinnamon roll slaps. Yeah.

It's outlandish. And in the morning, when they're fresh, it looks amazing and tastes even better. So uh it's the Mickey bacon peacan caramel cinnamon roll for eight dollars and 49 cents. That's my breakfast. After that, I'm going to head uh, you know, stroll through uh I'm gonna stroll through fantasy, uh fantasy land, and I'll probably go to the haunted mansion if it's got a you know slow weight. It's either that or I'm gonna take an easy and go over to Mickey's Fill Hard Magic. So I'm gonna get a show or an easy ride in at that point.

Then after that, I gotta go over and uh as you cross over, there's uh a popcorn cart if you go if you're gonna cross over to Tomorrowland, and I am going to get myself a standard refillable popcorn bucket because now I've gotten a souvenir and I've got a full thing of popcorn. This is $14.29, but my refills are only $275. So now I got cheap snacks wherever I want it, right? Yeah, I could have upgraded this for another $6 and gotten like a Sam the Eagle popcorn bucket. They have like some of the character ones, but some of them you never know what they're gonna be. They can range anywhere from $20 to $30. So standard refillable popcorn bucket, they're great. It's a little souvenir. I got I got them in the office here. We're looking at some of them. There's some up there, there's some over here, they're all over the place. Um, what's great is that you can use that for maple popcorn as well. So that might be a foreshadowing to a snack later on. All right, so I've got my popcorn now. I'm moving around. Uh, I'm going uh over to Tomorrowland. I'm probably gonna hop on Space Mountain or Tron, depending, you know, how what the wait time is. I can't go on the carousel progress anymore. That's a bummer that's down for a little bit. Yeah, no big news. I mean, that shut down that the line was like to the front gate to get in there was crazy. Really?

But I mean that's an amazing ride. I I'm excited to see what they're gonna do. Um, but yeah, I'll I'll spend some time in Tomorrowland, and then I'm going to make my way back over to Fantasyland, and I'm gonna go grab my lunch, which is gonna be the ham and gruyere sandwich from Gaston's Tavern. It's 1079. Okay, it also comes with lace potato chips. So this is a nice little lunch here. You got chips in a sandwich. That sandwich is phenomenal. It used to be the tart, now it's the sandwich, same thing. Yeah, it's Uzi Gruyere cheese, and there's like a bechamel sauce and ham. Things great. Okay, so I'm gonna eat that. I'm gonna mosey on out of the magic kingdom. It's time to leave, and I have to go over at that point to Ebcot, which is my second park. Okay, so I go over to Ebcot, and at this point, I am going to either get my sweet treat first, okay. I'll probably, if I'm down there, I'll try to get on Guardians. If it's not if it's crazy, I'd go over to Soren, most likely, do Soren around the uh USA or Test Track, one of those rides. And we got let's assume that we've paid for lightning lanes, you know. Let's assume that we paid for them.

Um because you know we're gonna buy the lightning lanes.

So, like whatever money we save, we spend in lightning lanes, but yeah, um it's worth it. Yeah, so we're at Soren or Test Track, then I'm starting to get hungry again, and we are gonna go over and get a school bread. I love the school bread over there in Norway. That delicious coconut topped custard-filled cardamom bun.

Yeah, I know. You're like, I've cracked it open so many times, you just want to lick the medals out of this thing. Yeah, it's so good. So I'm gonna do that. I'll probably hop over into the three caballeros boat ride. Um at that point, if I haven't ridden Guardians, I might go over there and then come back because the last meal that I have of the day, and this is where I could have interchangeed two meals. So I'm gonna kind of cheat a little bit here because they're the same price, it's $8.99. I would either get dinner here, depending on how hungry I am. Okay, and because I've already had a ham and cheese, I've had the pecan roll. Um, I'd either get uh this chicken taco kids meal over at the cantina, which is across from the Mexican pavilion, right next to like the um La Hacienda, the San Angel, yeah, like that one that's outside facing the lake. Uh, they have the quick service there, and you can go in there during lunchtime and kind of like utilize the uh uh air conditioning. It doesn't turn into dinner dinner. You can't go in there, you have to have a reservation, and then it's only sit-down. But what I would do is I would get that two taco meal, so it's two tacos, two marinated chicken tacos on homemade corn tortillas over there.

There's chips, queso, and they have a salsa bar with two homemade salsas, an avocado like a salsa verde, and then they have the uh chipotle hot salsa. And now this is the same queso that you're gonna get in La Cava del Tequila. So that was great queso. So you're getting that with the chips, and we're talking that's $8.99, comes with a drink as well. Dang, that's a good deal. That's a great deal. So if I'm still there, let's say I'm still there, that's what I'm getting. But if we have moved over now to my last park, I would eat over at Woody's Lunchbox, and I think it's interchangeable. And again, I would get a sandwich, a soup, and a tots, and a drink for $8.99.

Try to get that on if I can. If I can't do that, maybe Toy Story Mania or one of the Star Wars rides.

And then at some point in that night, I need a nice crisp $4, a large one, like over in the corner where they have those. If you're coming down by where Pixar, like Pixar places, when you go down there, they have uh that spot where you can get the cream cheese-filled pretzels and the pepper jack pretzels. I would get myself a large Diet Coke because it's a fountain Diet Coke. Great ice, great Diet Coke. It's $4.79. Bring it. Just hits the spot. And then after that, you know, depending on what time it is, I might just, you know, with my refilled popcorn bucket and my Diet Coke, I might mosey on over either to the Twilight Zone Tower Terror for one last ride. Maybe get in line for Slinky Dog, depending on and on how long the wait is. Or why not just sit down over at Phantasmic? You know, queue up over there at 9.05, call it a day with my my law. Like you know, that's one of the longest shows, fireworks, characters. Amazing. Music. We'll watch Phantasmic, got my popcorn, my Diet Coke, and that's how I'd finish the day. Now, total on that day with all those things, yeah. $63.07. I got a lot of stuff here. Yeah. I think I might have added an extra popcorn, but even if it's that, it's it's $65. That's awesome. So for $65, and I mean, you think about what the dining plan is. $75 for an adult. I mean, you get to sit down at these restaurants, but the variety of things, I can't say that I wouldn't sit down at, you know, two of these, or you know, I wouldn't get two quick service meals and not still drink a shaken Jamaican and get a Mickey. You know, I might have gotten this pecan caramel bacon cinnamon roll still. A school bread, still. One of these might count as a snack here or there, but I'm still walking around with popcorn and everything else. So I think that we're under budget here. That's awesome. That's what I'm saying. That's what I was saying. Like the with the with the excess, we could have uh we could have gotten some pins. But I think a cool way to end that would be phantasmic. What a great show to end it with. Yeah, for sure. So how do you think we did in the long run here? I think we did great. Yeah, you had like a lot of food in yours. There's a lot of food there, right? Yeah, I mean, this is a ton of food when I look at it. I mean, that's a that's a specialty drink, a breakfast, a lunch, a dinner, two snacks, uh, two, three popcorns. Yeah, I get to keep the bucket and a diet coke. That's pretty good. And uh with a kid's meal, I'm getting a Diet Coke there too. So caffeine on caffeine. I love it. We're gonna be able to do it. Well, listen, it's a it's a it's a shorter episode today. Uh, we got a lot going on. Um, yeah, we're my our daughter's graduated. We got a graduation party going on, so we gotta do that.
