Okay. Um, hi. So, no, no. Uh, I mean, hi, this is Lira and Mom. Today we're gonna read another great story, and this story is called Little Miss. Splendid. By Roger Hargreaves, as we didn't say. Um, Luke, you, our first story was by Nicholas Allen. Yeah, that's episode one, isn't it? Yes. And this is episode three and the number of the, um, little miss books. Little splendid is it's number 11. Good number. Yes. Shall we read a But today, but today, shall we? Yes, we should. It is tricky, isn't it? 'cause you like to listen to Lila and Dan. Yeah. And I forget our cat phrase. And they have a really catchy song. Yeah. And ours isn't too catchy just yet because we only started our first episode, like, I don't know, yesterday. Yesterday, yeah. Yeah, yesterday. Um, so you're gonna read Little Miss Thunder then? Yeah. Who's reading you? Is it And I'm gonna, and I'm gonna do Little Miss Boys. Oh, are you? You got that Ready? Yeah. Okay. You ready? Yeah. Nothing was too good for Little Miss Splendid it. I know it's big house. Not a splendid. She lived in a huge house surrounded by large gardeners like Mr. Aper or Snootier. Some people say that's true. She slept in an enormous bed with silk sheets and silk pillowcases. She bathed in a gold bath and she dined off silver plates. Oh, she was splendid. At least she thought so little Miss Splendid thought a lot of herself. In fact, she thought about little else. Mm. Quite rude. Mm. Maybe selfs. Well, not maybe few, few. No. Fit is quite rude. Okay. One day we taking a stroll around her gardens. It, miss Splendid came upon a small door garden. It's like people usually have one garden, well, maybe two, including the front and the back one. Yeah. And she got. Don't know, 25 i, 22, 6 I, I guess you say gardens when they're quite big, so yeah. Suggest she's got a lot of space around her. Oh, she came upon a small door in one of the walls. She'd never noticed it before. Okay. I knew what there, what's three? What's from here? She thought and opening the door, she stepped through. She found herself on a road. Along came Mr. Small out for a short walk. Are you gonna do Mr. Small? Yes. Okay. Good morning. He remarked politely raising his hat. Little Miss Splendid stuck her nose even higher in the air and walked past him as if he wasn't there. What a common little man she thought to herself. How rude. How rude. Indeed. I agree. How mean She came to a little splendid. Well, as pe well as you didn't, well as probably some you didn't know. I dunno about that. But probably some of you who didn't know the. No, we didn't do episode of that. Well, there is a Mr Member book called Mr. Cheerful and Little Splendid is in it and she asked, she had learn her lesson by then, but she doesn't in this story and she says. Don't you think it's polite to raise her your, when you meet Lady? Well, something like that. She didn't say exactly that, but something like that. Yeah. Oh, hi babe. And um, that was a very big thing. Missed a small Yeah, it. Oh, guys, we're talking about bees. That's nothing to do with the story. It's just a beef flew past our window to retire on reading. Yeah. And Mr. Small and Mr. Chafer didn't raise his hat, but he just forgot. And it's okay because it made them sad doing it, but Mr. Small does it to everyone and. But unless I'm a splendid fancy's, a common man. That's not very nice. So let's just get back to the story and stop chatting. So, Mr. Happy and Mr. Daydream, we're waiting for a bus into town. Hello gr Mr. Happy, what are you? Who are you? Who are you? Oh, oh, she replied. I'm sp. I, she replied, I'm little splendid. She says, I'm splendid. Yeah, I'm splendid. Oh. Said, Mr. Happy. I say Oh. Oh, you did? Okay. Oh. Said, Mr. Happy. As we're repeating it, it's because we made a few mistakes. Bear with us, right? You are gonna do Mr. Dre line. Are you going to catch the bus? Are you gonna catch the bus? Ask Mr. Daydream. No, she said the bus. And then she says never. Oh, she went on. I have never, ever in the whole of my life been on a bus, an expression of distaste crossed her face. How? Mm-hmm. You have, who is it? This is Miss Bld. You have to sit next to people on buses. She went on that would never do. Now, Mr. Happy, uh, said, Mr. Happy and scratched his head. He couldn't think of anything to say. Little Miss Splendid walked off with her nose very high in the air. How rude. How rude indeed. How mean? Little Miss Splendid arrived in town. She looked at herself in all the shop windows as she walked down the street. I must say she thought to herself, oh, this is you. Oh, let's see. I must say she thought to herself, I do look. Absolutely splendid. And then something caught her eye. Eyes in the middle of the window of the hat shop was a hat, not just a hat, a hat and a half. The most magnetic, two hats. Like two hats, but one hat as good as two hats. Yeah. The most magnificent, sumptuous, desirable, gorgeous, spectacular, amazing, splendid hat you've ever seen. Little Miss Splendid marched into the shop. She snapped her fingers like a soldier. Yep. And a sales lady hurried to her side. I the fingers. Are you gonna be the salesperson? Good morning, madam. The sales lady said, little Miss splendid ignored her. Can I help you? I announced little Miss Splendid Wish to try on the hat in the wind. Good. Cute little Miss Splendid looked at herself in the mirror. Mag. Magnificent. She breathed. I. I, Luca. Oh, no, no. Get going. Oh, I, I, oh, take it. She announced this is the sales person, but don't you, I'm gonna change. Okay. Okay. Aren't you going to pay. You can't just change the book. Why not? Because then we're not reading a book. Okay. Okay. But don't you want to know how it costs? Ask the sales lady how much it costs, how much it costs of the sales lady. Me costs queried little miss splendid loftly. Oh, I, I. Never costs. I never, this costs discuss, discuss money matters. Matters, means she doesn't talk about things to do with money. And then she says. Send me the bed and she marched out of the shop. Shop. That hat is splendid, isn't it? It's got flowers in the top. Yes. Don't shout. Don't shout. You'll hurt people's ears. Yes. Little whisper splendid. Stood on the pavement and held up her hand. Taxi. She announced in a loud, important voice. A taxi stopped. Take me home. She ordered and went to get in, but of course she couldn't. Her new hat was much too large to fit. Why wouldn't she just take her hat off? Such a good question. Why don't you think she took her hat off? She wants to look splendid. She does. She's worried too much about how she looks. So it says she went to get in, but of course she couldn't. Her new hat was much too large to fit through the taxi door. She's got another line come and speak. Okay. Kay. Come in. Uh, driver, she said, you should purchase yourself a large taxi. In the meantime, she went on I'll walk. Wow. Now what do we think is gonna happen? Let's find out. The taxi driver. Can't see you. Can't see. She doesn't that she can see the taxi driver grinned. Little miss splendid, walked along. Perhaps, perhaps it's better to walk she thought to herself so that. Everyone has the accent to admire. My, my, my son Mag. My magnificent new You hit, but then it happened. It started to rain and the trouble was the more it started to rain, the more it rained. And the trouble was the more it rained, the more little miss splendid got wet. And the trouble was the wetter she got the wetter, her hat got. What a sorry site. Don't you agree? No, no. You think she looks good? No, I don't really? Well, she doesn't look good. No, but I don't agree that it's that site. Oh, that It's a sorry site. I see a sorry site just means you don't look good. The bus on. Its return journey from town past her. Mr. Happy and Mr. Daydream on their way home and sitting in the dry looked outta the window. Outside remarked Mr. Happy looking out at the bedraggled figure. Trudging along in the wet. What a splendid sign. What a splendid sight. Mr. Day Dream giggled. Ha ha. This one, Mr. Splendid. Fine. He agreed. Little miss splendid looking. Anything but splendid arrived home. However, after hot bath in her gold bath and after a boiled egg in a gold egg cup eaten with a silver spoon, she felt much better. In fact, later on she spent an extremely pleasant evening looking at well herself. Yeah. What do you think she's spent all evening looking at herself? No, not the television herself. Yeah. I mean, you're ahead of the game herself.
