Pastor Tom Cohen will be helping us understand from the life and experiences of Joseph that there are some things we should never forget. And of course, there are some things we should leave behind. Pastor Tom will be along to explain in a few moments. To begin our program, we invite Mac Wigfield to lead us to great gospel music that will lift our spirits. Thank you, Mac.

Take it out and strengthen me. I wanna live right, I wanna be safe, I wanna be whole.
MacAnd we are whole in part because God canceled our sin debt at the cross.
SPEAKER_06Here's Legacy 5. The first time he divided the night from the day he remembers the moment the first star was set into place, he remembers He knows each drop of water that fills up the sea, like I'm his only child.

TomLet me ask you how is your memory? There are certain things in life we need to remember. Anniversaries, birthdays, or passwords all are important. But did you know that there are some things that God really wants us to forget? Stay with us as we learn from what we are called to remember and what we are called to forget.
SPEAKER_07You are Chris Tomlin and friends with the Lord Some trust in their reject. Some may trust in all they own. Oh, but I will trust in the name of the Lord. Power in the name, resurrection power, bondage breaking power, power in the name of Jesus. Some trust in there is done. Some they say it's foolishness. Oh but I but I will trust in the name of the Lord Yes, very long Holy Spirit how raised how you speak in power in the name of Jesus Lift my eyes to the mountains and mountains up. You are, you are, where my hell is from I lift my eyes to the maker of heaven You are, you are, where my hell is from his wonder working power, Holy Spirit power, great redeeming power, power in the name, resurrection power, bonds breaking power, power in his name, this power in his name, in the name of Jesus. I lift my eyes to the mountains, the mountains above. You are, you are, where my hell is from.
TomHow's your memory? Are you like me always forgetting where you've parked your car? The other day was the worst when I looked all over the boxdoor parking lot for my car. I finally found it only. It wasn't mine. The problem with the human memory is that we most often forget what we should remember. And remember what we should forget. This is true in all areas of life, but especially in our relationship with God. We are to remember that.
SPEAKER_04Before you drink.
TomJoseph is a model for us. We've seen in our previous studies how he did not forget God when he was far from home, or when he went through difficulty, or when he came into a position of power and authority. It's almost like the words of Psalm 103, verse 2, were written on his heart. Praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget God at all. We need to take time today. Another way to remember God. Don't just listen to the music on home today. Allow yourself to sing the songs of act of God as an act of worship. There are so many things in this world that we forget where we put our glasses on, where we left our keys on, but never ever forget God. Sovereign Grace brings us their rendition of Psalm 103 in Bless the Lord, O my soul.
SPEAKER_07Bless the Lord, oh my soul. For all my betrayals, he will not repay. Bless the Lord, oh my soul. Through mercy and compassion, his great love is proved. He covers my transgressions like the snow. As far as east from West around. All my sins remote, bless the Lord, oh my soul He saved me from the fit when I had a lost all Bless the Lord, oh my soul From endless springs of kindness, all his blessings blow Bless the Lord, oh my soul Our days will fade like flowers and our quickly spend And like the wind our years will come and go Everlasting favor is discussed Bless the Lord Oh my soul. Bless the Lord Merciful and gracious is my God to me. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and I will tell his goodness through eternity. Bless the Lord, oh my soul Bless the Lord, you angels, all you enable, and every living creature you be know the Father, praise the Son and Lord Bless the Lord, all my soul And bless the Lord, you angels, all you ever memo, and every living creature here below Praise the Father, praise the Son, and Holy Ghost, bless the Lord, oh my soul, bless the Lord, oh my soul.
SPEAKER_01It's no surprise how often we will come to a hymn that the famous blind hymnist Fanny Crosby wrote. Her hymns always mention some of her favorite words. Redeemed, love, proclaim, lamb, mercy, forever. Fanny was seldom at a loss for words, and so often her words for a hymn would come in response to a tune that she would receive from one of her friends who composed music. This time she found inspiration with a tune from William Kirkpatrick. Fanny loved to tell anyone of the ever-deepening relationship she had with Jesus Christ. One June day, she met with a group of children under an old apple tree. She thrilled them as she recited a few of her poems and told them stories. Then she pulled out her wordless book and explained to the children the significance of each of the colors black, red, white, and gold. When she got to the red page, she said, and I quote, Red is for blood, and I want you always to remember that you are redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Unto him be honor and praise forever. End of quote. For these children, the hope in God's redemption was that he will never forget who he has redeemed. As the hymn says, Redeemed, redeemed, his child, and forever I am. Here is Ernie Hawes and signature sound as they sing Fanny Crosby's wonderful hymn of assurance. Redeemed how I love to proclaim it.
SPEAKER_07Redeemed how I love to proclaim it, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, redeemed through his infinite mercy, his child, and forever I am redeemed and so happy in Jesus. No language my rapture can tell. I know that the light of his presence with me thou continually well We deep, we deep, we deal by the blood of the land, we did forever I know I shall see his beauty The king in whose light Who lovingly caught it from my footsteps and a game with me so big.
TomScripture clearly tells us that there are some things that we should forget. There are some things in the recesses of our mind that should be swept out and put forgetfulness forever. For those of you who allow confess and I want you to hear the words of scripture from Psalm 103, verse 12. As far as the Christmas from the West, so far as he removed our transgressions from us. We know it to be true because he's put our sins on Jesus Christ and He has died once and for all for those sins. Through faith in him, we can be forgiven fully and forever, so that now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Do you hear God saying to you today, don't be weighed down by sins that are confessed. Your debt has been paid by Jesus' death, so that your sin is forgiven and it is forgotten and it is forever. That's God's word to you. Here's the Gospel Coalition with not in me.
SPEAKER_07No list of sins I have not done. No list of virtue I pursue. No list of those I am not like can earn myself obsessed with you. Oh God, be merciful to me. I am a center through and through my only hope of righteousness is not in me, but only you know humble dress, no further prayer, no lifted hands, no tearful song, no recitation of the truth can justify a single wrong. My righteousness is Jesus' life. My dead was killed by Jesus' death. My weary Lord was born by him, and he alone can give me a lot of things. No gift I give can cleanse my heart. Just cleanse my hand. Can give me rest. Yes, she alone can give me rest.
TomGod calls us to forget sin that has been confessed, but we also need to forget sorrows that have caused distress. Joseph calls his son Manasseh because he says, God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father's household. Joseph is saying that God has enabled him to forget his sorrows and troubles.
SPEAKER_07The losing ground is you are able to drive our fear. I know I'll make it through this battle's won. And all I have to do is live. This is possible. And God let this surrender be, a threat to all my enemies. Cause in your hands there's no defeat. You are my identity, God let this surrender be.
SPEAKER_02And your heart beats the magistrate. You are a good guy. All that I have to do is rest. You are a good guy.
SPEAKER_07I won't be afraid. I won't be afraid. I won't be afraid, my God is here. You are a bad gave me your eyes, gave me your heart, your spirit flows through my beings.
SPEAKER_02You gave me your eyes, give me your heart, your spirit flows through my feet. You gave me your eyes, it gave me your heart, your spirit flows through my veins. You gave me your eyes, it gave me your heart, your spirit flows through my veins. You had a plane, I'm from the star, I know who I am, because I know who you are. We are need to know Maker of Hell.
TomWhy have you forsaken me? He experienced forsakenness so that you and I never will. He experienced abandonment so that you and I will always be remembered. He took on our sin, and through faith in him we know that we will never be forgotten by God. In fact, scripture says that your name is etched on the palm of his hand. Praise God that in his grace he does not forget you. Paul Below sings, because of your life.
SPEAKER_07As we come into your presence, we remember every blessing that you've poured out so freely from above. Lifting gratitude and praises, for compassion so amazing. But we've come to give you thanks for all you've done.
SPEAKER_01Because of you love We're forgiven Because of your love to clean We too It's time to freedom for your love As we come into your presence We remember every blessing That you've poured out so freely from above Thank you Lord Living gratitude and praises With compassion so amazing But we've come to give you thanks for all you've done Because of your love We're forgiven Because of your love We do love It's time to freedom Forever we're shared Because of your love You would think that we could never forget all of God's care and benefits And yet at various times in our lives our memory is short But God remains faithful always and for all time Won't you take a few moments to remember today and praise Him.
