Oh, you're the first one who said that. Yeah. I can't I can't do an audition. Well, I can. I love it in person, but anyway, carry on. We'll come back to that. We'll put a pin in that. And then last one, just for a bit of a funny one, shower or bath? Shower? That's so random, isn't it? Yeah. No, I love it. Last week's episode I asked just coffee or tea, and I thought, oh, that's a bit of a boring one. What do I want? Shower or bath.

I love a bath. But anyway, controversial. Controversial. So very talk to me about where you are in the industry right now. So you graduated from Italy Conte. Italio Conte. Italiconte. Itale Conte. Italio Conte. I did. In uh, was that the Barbican? It was in Woking. Oh. They moved. They had one in Guildford, one at the Barbicane merged for my first year. So I did my whole three years at Woking, which was like their so we were the first year and that was that was that their new building type thing. So you didn't have the building where you have to go up like a little bit. No, thank God. Oh my god. I remember back in like 2014, I'm old. Uh that's when I was auditioning and I went to Italy Conti, and I was like, How do you guys do this? Like one time they said they'll have ballot class at downstairs and then they'll have jazz upstairs. Well, because I did an audition for the junior school when I was younger. Okay. And I was like, oh my god, I can't go here. There's too many stairs. This isn't the school for me. The stairs are too much. The stairs are too much. Give in 95 cents at Common Garden. Oh my god, yes. I did that once and went, I'm never doing it again. I did the same thing. I was like, I just want to say that I've done it once in my life. See, when I was naive. Babe, I went up the stairs. I've got halfway through, and the pressure of people being behind me. Oh my god, no. I'm gonna back around. I'm embarrassed to start. It just kept coming.

How long did it take you?

That's what I want to know. Oh god, it probably I'm not gonna lie, it probably took about 15 minutes. Because I was like just doing like a leisurely pace. I was like I'm not doing the whole thing.

So when I got to the top, I was sweating. That's your gym for the day. Yeah. Um anyway, we digress. Um oh actually, before I forget, how we know each other. Oh yeah. We how when did we first meet? Was it JSA? Was it? Yeah. It has to have been. That's crazy. I thought it was before that. Okay, so Liv and I both did um a course, JSA. It was Jody Steele Associates. Big up. And it was um big up Jodie. And it was was it every Sunday? Or was it once a month on a Sunday? It was month one once a month, and then I went to two uh once every two months. Yes, and it was basically like a short couple month course, and at the end you do a showcase. So we met there, yeah, and then aside like alongside one of the creatives that were at JSA, Danny, who's one of my gorgeous friends and one of Liv School's just gorgeous friends, she um does Smash Theatre Art. Woo! And then we've met through there many, many times. And then that was it. And then that was it. And then we did panto together. There we go. That was it. I was like, wait, I swear I've like known you, known you. We did panto together. This was like the that was like the solid staple in our relationship. Yeah, so we did panto together, which was really fun. Yeah. Anyway, we digress yet again. Um, this is gonna be every five minutes in the like go off on a tangent. So sorry. Stay with us, we promise. Yeah, stay tuned. We'll get to the bit that you actually want to listen to in a bit. So talk to me about the industry. When did you graduate? Summer last year. Oh I've only been in the industry for like less than a year. Oh, that's crazy. Why did I think you'd been in the industry like two, three years? Oh, what can I say? I'm just a pro general. She's just a professional. So, how have you been finding it? Did you get an agent straight away? Did you struggle? Like, because I personally I struggled to get an agent. Really? Oh my god, yeah. Yeah. Mate, I'm so sorry. No, I did, I did. Like that surprises me so much. Yeah, but I think so. I graduated in 2017 and w when I so I went to performers college and we didn't have like an agent showcase because we were based in Essex. Um they didn't kind of do that back in the day. I I don't know whether they do now, um, but we didn't have that, so we kind of left having to reach out like cold email type thing. That's so yeah, so I I really struggled. But how how did you find it? So we had quite a few opportunities in our verge. So I had we had agent days, which were not for me. We had to do a dance round first. So I got cut every single week. Oh, as if they literally auditioned. Yeah, so there would be three rooms of agents on like a panel, and they would basically you'd have like a set dance that like the teacher had taught us, so we'd do the same dance every time, and every single time you go in, do your dance, you'd piss off. I mean I'll swear. Yeah, you can swear it's fine. I'm really swear, no, it's fine. And then basically, um, after that, you'd leave the room, everyone would be like chatting, being like, Oh, what's gonna happen? And then they'd call you into a big room, and then they'd be like, Okay, these people the agents would like to hear sing in these rooms. Oh basically it was given industry audition. So basically every time I was cut, which was fun, and it was fine, but it was annoying because I'm not a dancer first, I can say that and be happy with it. So was there not uh was there not an opportunity for you to sing first? No, so bad, and we actually did end up saying to them, like, and I think the year before us did as well, like it's not fair because the people who were singers first don't get the opportunity to showcase their best at all. Exactly, and it's like what am I supposed to do? Just dance. Like I can dance, don't get me wrong. But you're I think you're the same as me. Like, we can dance, we're a bit more than movers, but I for me personally I wouldn't say I'm like wicked ensemble level. No, no, no, I mean, but there are some auditions that I've got through and I'm like, okay. Okay, come on dancer. Come on, dancer, come on, legs. Because there's a leg, really. Um so yeah, so did you get so did you get an agent? I did. Okay, facts. We had an agent showcase and I was in the lightning thief section, iconic. I love and there was basically three girls and five boys in my section. Yeah. Um, and then basically the girls we split a song. We split my grandplan. Don't My Grandplan! I love that song. I also cannot sing. So I was What do you mean you cannot sing? It's a bit much, it's a bit high. I was in you cannot sing that song. Yeah. Live. It's too much. Anyway, I've She can sing. I've got through it. But it is a lot, it is a lot. It's just such a weird place in my voice. It's one of those that's not too high, but it's like in my break. Yeah. So I'm like, right, okay. This is something that we can chat about a bit later on as well. Like different songs and um because someone, like especially like I find with my voice, like someone can sound really belt-y singing a song, then it goes on my voice, and it's like mixed up. It doesn't sound yeah, it sounds like a bit more mixy out, or it sounds too high or too low. So we'll pop a pin in that. But I got a good part of the song, which I was really happy with, which suited like was the like kind of lower part of the song, but it was still a belt. Yeah. So I was like, oh, like that's that's a good part for me. Then basically, it was like effectively, it's the biggest belt in the song, you know, the run away. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but anyway, that was definitely not in key, but it's okay. Um, so I got that bit, and then the head of course was like, No, we want to change around the solos. Oh no. Because I'm not a favourite, we all know this, but it's okay. Right. But so I was just like politics of college. We'll leave that there anyway. We'll leave that one there. But um, they swapped it around. I then get got given the first chorus, which is obviously smack bang in my brake. I was like, oh my god, I'm gonna get to this showcase, I'm not gonna be able to sing it. Yeah if anything goes wrong, if I've waken up woken up on the day, I'm not very well, like it's not gonna come out. And for the dress run, I was really not very well, and I thought this is not gonna go very well, is it? It was the week before, and I thought this ain't coming out. Sang it with the dress run, had the fattest voice crack. Oh no. Was like, okay, they always say though, bad dress run, good show. Exactly. So then I was like, Well, now they all think I can't sing, and I've just proved that that is true. Um, but then I was like, Do you know what? It's fine because on the day it's gonna be amazing. I'm gonna get an agent, who cares, right? Amazing, we love that mindset, and that's what happened. And that's what happened. So, who you signed with? So, okay, it's a long story. Okay, but had two interests, okay, met with them both, chose an agent, signed with them. Amazing. Didn't get on with them very well. Well, we got on really well for the first couple of months. Potentially, they just weren't the agent for you. They just weren't for me. Fabulous. And they got me in a great room, got in Betilda West End room, which was amazing. So good, was so happy with it. Yes. Um, but I couldn't get in for child swing, so I was in for cover Miss Honey Wormwood, which obviously isn't right for me right now. Right, yeah. So I was like, but look, at least they're seeing my face, like it's fine. Um, and then after that, um, it went really quiet, which normal. It was that time of year where everything was quiet, no one was getting anything in my year anyway. So, in those periods of quiet, because this is this is something that I this is why I wanted to start the podcast, because uh people see a lot of um uh success stories, and I'm not saying we're unsuccessful, because we're absolutely not, but people see a lot of they've bit this job, they've done this, they've done this, and actually what I want to showcase is the in-between bits and what we do uh in between auditions. So, how did you find that going from oh my gosh, I'm in the room for Matilda on the West End to now not having many auditions? Like, what do you do in that time, in that gap? Yeah, to be honest, in that gap, I was still at Quanty. So I had a lot of time. Oh wow, so you were auditioning. Yeah, wow, it's coming to the end of my third year. Right, got you. So I had a lot going on anyway, but now I've had so many, it's been basically quiet since I I swapped agents. Simon, the new agent. Okay, Fab. Enjoying them. Love her, amazing. She's literally amazing, amazing. Um, and she does a lot more screen stuff, which I want to get into as well. So I was like, yeah, 10 out of 10. She doesn't have many musical theatre clients, so she's like, I'll still put you forward for it, but I need to ask my friend on opinions on your self tape. I'm like, yeah, that's fine. Okay, fine. Um, but so do you get seen for quite a bit, not like quite a bit as in like blows and nose, but do you get seen for TV and film? Um I have been subbed for quite a few. I've done been in for quite a few commercials. I would love to commercial. I was literally just saying to my dad yesterday when it gets to the adverts, my dad was like, oh, I switch it over. Do you know what I always do? I watch the adverts and I always think so funny. Oh yeah, and I always think, I wonder what self-tape you have to do for that.

Because you know, there's there's some there's some commercial um auditions that I've had to do where there's no words. Yeah. And you have to just do like it's so cringe. You have to just do like facial expressions, and they're like, Yeah, right. Like there was this one where I had to like look at my phone as if I was like scrolling cat food. You were gonna say that. I had to look at my phone as if I was scrolling cat food. Then I had to look up, and then I had to like look at this cat and be like, is this cat crazy? But with no words, like with no words, no words. So it was just like a sound type of me like without the sound. But um, no, I yeah, so whenever I watch commercials, whenever I watch commercials, I always say, I wonder what you had to do. I wonder what you had to do with the audition. That's great that you'll sub for those. Yeah, they are amazing, they're great money. I was gonna say, and they're really good, man. I got paid for my recall for a commercial. I've heard about this. Yes. I had a recall for a commercial once, and I did not get paid. But I think some do pay and some don't, right? So I that's when I found that out, I was like, that's wild to me. Yeah, it's mad. So you got paid on the recall. To go to Spotlight and say one line. Yeah. Unreal. Yeah. I didn't really. It was really funny. I'm not gonna lie. I'm one of those people that would just laugh. I'm really bad for it. When I went into my no when I went into my first um commercial audition, so bear in mind, I I do more musical theatre auditions than I do commercial. And um I went in and it was it was this advert one, I got a recall for it, and um I did the thing, and then I did the eye, and I like did the crazy eyes. And then I didn't know when to stop. Oh my god, yeah, they just don't say anything. So I just stopped really awkwardly and was like and they're all like for this audition anyway, they were all in the back of the room, like down in like a dingy sofa of like screens, like my face on their big screens. Oh, yeah. And they didn't say anything to like stop or anything. So I just stopped and was like, like, what do I do now? Oh my god. And then they were like fabulous. So we're gonna do it again. Next time, don't stop, wait till we say cut. But they didn't say it in a rude way. I have to like, I have to not I have to tell the truth. They didn't say it in a rude way, but I was like, Oh my god, Charlotte, like, of course, like they it's TV, they have to say cut. So that's something to know, maybe, that um, if you ever go for a TV, wait till they say cut, just carry on, just carry on. Even if you want to make it up, just do something. Yeah, because I felt really awkward because I was just staring. I thought, is it over yet? Like, I'm not sure. No, it was like for mine, we had to basically have an argument, me and this man, about whether we liked Marmite. Oh. And it was one line. Was it a Marmite commercial? No. Oh it was Tascos. Wow. Um, but it was the it was the funniest thing I think I've ever done in my life. Was it? Like when I tell you, I all my line was like, oh, what was it? It was like, hate it, hate it. That was my one line, hate it, that's it. Oh. Right? But they were like, can you just like, you know, it's like a battle, you know, like the arena, you know, like think of it like that. So I was like, okay, anyway, so I was like, I'm just gonna go with the float. It's my first commercial audition, I have no idea what's going on. Like, I've no idea what I'm doing, let's just go for it. I was like, I'm just gonna stand here and like um keep saying it. So I was like, uh, he said the first line, he goes first, and then I was like, hate it. And then he was said it again, and I went, Well, I'm just gonna keep going then. Hate it. And we just went back and forth. Oh, you were just like hate it. But when I tell you, yeah, in all different ways possible for about five minutes before they sat before they said cut. Oh my gosh. Yeah. And I was like, That's so good though that you kind of took it within yourself. I just kept it obviously with within like your line you were given was hate it, that was it. That was it. And you could have just like said hate it, he said his line, then you'd be like, That's it. But you made that bold choice and you made that thing to be like, you know what, I'm not gonna stand here awkwardly. I'm gonna I'm gonna do it. Amazing.

I think I was just in complete delirium. Sometimes we do things in auditions that can either work for us or work against us. It sounded like it worked for you. Like it's better. That was alright. And you gave them different uh different options, different options, different ways to draw the line. Like um, yeah. Love it. So, what do you do for work? No, that was good. Thank you. I enjoyed that. Uh, what do you do for work outside of auditioning? Okay, so this is a complete surprise to everyone that knows me. Talk about it a lot. But I work on reception at AE. Oh my gosh. Yes. Yeah. I remember this because everyone when I put it on my story was like, You were right. Like, are you not doing MT anymore? I was like, No, I am, they're very accommodating in my audition. So you work as a receptionist at A E. Do you do you need to have uh qualifications for that? As in like nurse nurse, no, nothing. And when I tell you, we are all as useless as each other around there. No way. It's so funny. You wouldn't have thought it because when people come in and like collapse in front of you, you just have to be calm and press the button. Like it's actually like you can't you're actually not allowed to do anything. Like you're not allowed to go near the patient if that happens, you have to call the nursing staff to do that. So you're literally kind of just there as a middleman, I guess. Yeah, and just take everyone's details, be like, hello, what's your name? How did you get into that? How did you Yeah, so um that's such an opposite end of the spectrum to performing to be in a but I kind of love that because I guess you kind of get that um you're in a different world to when you come to auditions and stuff, and I guess sometimes that is nice. And you see so many different people, yeah. Yeah, I study people's like behaviour and just sit there and that. I just love people watching, so it's really funny. How did you get into that? Okay, so basically, I watched Grey's Anatomy when I was little. Yeah. Right. We all know I wanted to be a surgeon after that, you know. I watched casualty and wanted to be a paramedic. Oh my god, I watched casualty from like the age of three. I wanted to be a paramedic so bad, but I actually I was like, I just love the drama.

Um, so then I was like, oh, you know what? I'd love to do something in that field while I'm not performing. Yeah. Like, you know, and then in third year, I was looking up jobs and I was going, there's nothing available. Like, you have to apply for this silly website that doesn't work, and do like an hour-long application, and I was going, There's nothing like that fits with my schedule, like because obviously because you need something to be flexible as well. Exactly. Or is that possible? I was like, this is not gonna work anyway. This job comes up, I see it, I go, I'm just gonna apply. Like, what's the worst that could happen? Don't get an interview, don't get the job. Yeah, applied. Then got an email like a couple of weeks later saying, sorry, like we're not taking your application any further. So I was like, okay, fine, right? I was actually filming my final for Universal at the time in a quantity studio. We're gonna talk about that in a minute. Um, and I got an email come up and it was like interview for this job. I was thinking, you literally told me no a week ago, like what's going on. It's still in the musical theatre industry. It is, isn't it?

And I was thinking, right, do you know what that's already like a green flag, like they're obviously flexible.

Yeah. I'm gonna go with it. Anyway, look at the interview time. It's while I'm on holiday in Florida.

But it's on Zoom. I was like, I could make this work. Yeah. But if you think about the time difference, it was at 11am in the UK. That's 5am in America. And did you get up at 5am to do it? Commit. And I sat on there and I went, I'm so sorry about my connection. I'm in America right now. Um, it is 5am. You're correct. You are correct. And they went I really like literally gagged at the fact that I got up to do this. They were like, this girl's committed, let's give her the job. And then the interview went absolutely horrendously because I uh I don't know anything. Did they ask you like any questions? Yeah, they were like, if someone calls up and asks for this, what do you say? And I was like, I I don't know. I was like, I've not got a bloody clue, mate. I was like, I'll just make it up. So I just waffled, literally waffled. Like when I tell you, see, this is why our skills are transferable for like performing and stuff, because I feel like we're great at I always say I'm a good liar, right? And the thing is, people see that as a red flag, but what I see it as, I'm good at making stuff up on the spot, like improvisation, improvisation techniques, do you know what I mean? Like, yes, it's potentially like fabricating the truth. Like, I'm not gonna lie to my friends, do you know what I mean? But like I always say I'd be a great traitor. Because we as performers, our skills are so transferable, and we can just like babble on and convince someone of something and come away from it and be like, I don't know what the hell I think. I don't know what I just said, but it worked. Yeah, literally. And I'd love to be in the turret with you. Stop! That is giving, isn't it though? I would love to be on the turret. Because we'd be so different, but like, but like so good together. And we'd like, we'd know. You know, we'd just we'd know. I'd give you a look and you'd be like, oh. We'd have to stay separate though. Yeah, we would be in the house. I feel like no one could know that we knew each other. Yeah, no one could know. No one could know at all. Oh, do you know what? I think I should DM Claudia Winkleman after this. No, not the sliding into her DMs and say, Oh by the way.

The thing is, everyone that goes on it though wants to be um a traitor. And I feel like you now have to say you want to be a faithful to even get to the interval interview stage. Because I feel like everyone wants to be traitors, you know what I mean? Yeah, you have to have something interesting about you, I guess. We're interesting. MT. Yeah. Two MT girlies. Two MT girlies. Um so you're enjoying the you're enjoying your job. Yeah, I mean, my last shift is tomorrow.

That is sorry, sorry. That is so exciting. Yeah, it will be fun. Um I'm gonna be doing a vocal contract. So So tell me about this. So you are going to China, which I am gagged at. Like that is I'm leaving in two weeks. How long for? 13 months. Thirteen months! Thirteen months? I mean fine. I mean great, but also like what is what? Hello? So t tell us about this. So you're working at AE. How do auditions work around that, by the way? Um I just messaged on the group chat and say hello, does anyone want my shift? Unreal. That's that's that's a good hack. If you want a flexible job that you can audition. Go work at AE, guys. Go work at A E if it's of interest to you. If it's not, then don't do it. So how many rounds did you do? I did Oh, it was long. I started in the June and I got the offer in the October of last year. Oh my gosh, that's like four months. Yeah, how many rounds would that be? Yeah, four months. Four months, yeah. I think I did like well, the first round I just submitted a monologue because I wanted to do an acting contract. Oh, okay. Yeah, then they saw my vocal reel and said, Can you please send a singing one? And I went, okay, here we go. Did they send material or did you uh Uh it was their material, yeah. But it was like the cringiest stuff you have ever seen in your life. Okay. And I was like, okay, fine, I can do cringe. I'm a cringe girl, so we love cringe. Bring it on. We love cringe. Um so I did that monologue first, then I went on to do a their song. Then after that, they recalled me again for two different parts. So it's the Harry Potter like acting. I think you love Harry Potter as well. Yeah, I'm obsessed with it. Wow. So obviously, by at this point, I was like, no, I need to be working in the Harry Potter realm. I can't be doing anything else. I'm like, I don't care. Take anything else that has a pity. I don't care about the other vocal contract. Give me Harry Potter. Yeah. So the whole way through, I was like, no, I'm only doing it if I ex if I get Harry Potter. That's that's like anyway, obviously I did it in. That that's another thing actually to pick up on. We always have these like things in our head of like, oh yeah, like I'd only take it if they like did this, like I'd only take it, and then it's like who always be piggy. Yeah, you can't be picky. That's another thing, but anyway, I understand what you mean. But it was like, I need to do this, I need to be Hermione Granger. Like, come on now. Wow. So I was like, right, okay, next round. Did that got recalled again. Then this round was like kind of the final, but it wasn't really. Okay. It was like a another self-tape of all of these were self-tapes. Oh, all were self-tapes. Apart from one round, which was the final. Is that why you like self-tapes? Or do you find- I feel like I just like them anyway. Do you feel like you like them because um you get to choose which version you present to the scene? Like if you feel like you might have gone wrong in some bit, you're like, oh okay, I like that, I can redo it type thing. I also really like I hate to say this, but I like watching myself back. I know people do this and they say, I hate watching myself back. Yeah, we had a guest last week who said that. I love it. I I actually don't mind watching myself back and put myself on all the little bits. Yeah. Or just being that, that actually sounded really good. Like that's okay to think about it. Yeah, and also it's stuff you can keep as well. Like so that you can look back at it and be like, oh. Or for you to use again for another self tape. Exactly. Like have a bank of self tapes. That's a hack. Exactly. That is a hack. Use it. Um you're gonna need it. Yeah, you will. Um so I actually really like doing them. I think it's really fun. Nice. And I'm just in the comfort of my own home, don't have to go anywhere, don't have to spend money on the trains. That's what I like. It it um it takes away from audition nerves, I think. Yeah. You're in the comfort of your own home, as you said. So you did your self-tapes for um Universal. This round I had to do a a language check. Oh. So they they gave you a script? I have just had a flashback. Hello? Did you put it on your Instagram? Sorry, like, does anyone speak was it Oh, I don't I'd probably put something about it on there. Yeah, for you to like copy what they were saying. Did you get someone to like copy or something? I mean, they sent us a video. I think you must have put up a video to be like, guys, this is what I've got to say. Or something. Because I think I took a picture of my notepads. Yes. I because I remember this, and what language was it? Mandarin and Japanese. Yeah, I remember this. I think you put up a video of you doing good. I'm sure you did. I think you've got to do it. I probably did.

So you have Mandarin and Japanese. Yeah, the Japanese was way easier. Oh really? Yeah. Like And it was literally they sent you they sent you the They sent you the script in Japanese and the translation underneath, and then you they sent you a video of like the woman like pronouncing all the words, and you basically just had to learn it and film it. So when you go out and do the contract, are you doing it in Japanese? Oh. Thank God for that. So that was that was for the Harry Potter contract. And from that moment she was like, I don't want Harry Potter an do Harry Potter anymore. It was like so funny. I was like, how ironic. Oh my gosh, no, that would have been really difficult. But it was so like I had like two weeks to learn it, and I had to go over my monologue, another I had to learn another monologue, I had to learn a new song. Gosh, I asked for quite a lot. It was a lot of stuff, and because I had been recalled for different things because they didn't know where to put me, yeah, I had to learn so much more than other people. So like my friend also got was at this stage and had to do the Japanese and the mandarin, but only had to learn one other monologue. So it was quite easy for him to then go, Oh, okay, I'll just spend this much time on this and this much time on this. Yeah, it makes sense. Whereas for me, I was like still learning it when I walked into the room to film it. Like I was like, my friend actually stood behind the camera with a piece of paper with it right now. Oh, the amount, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fine. Because I was like, I mean, it's another language, like that that's I I was like, This is I've not got this job. And was that your final round? That was my second to final round. Okay. The next round was doing basically all of that in London in front of a panel. Oh wow! And I went, You're telling me I have to stand in front of like a panel of like however many people and speak Japanese in Mandarin. And I I'm assuming they were fluent in Japanese. Well, they were all Australian. So I was like, I was so scared because I thought they're gonna know if I pronounced all these words wrong. Like they're gonna know because they're gonna be Chinese or they're gonna be like Japanese or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um no, they were Australian. So I was like, So the final must have gone amazing. The final was great. It was really funny, the most funniest audition I think I've ever done. Really? I walked into the room to do my first dance round. Yeah, and um they were blasting music and dancing behind the panel.

And I was like, what is going on? So it was vibey. I was like, this is great, but I'm confused. Like I've never been into a room like it. And we all walked in and was like, what's going on? Like it was like, like, you know, like crickets, but like that that's the vibe.

And uh and then we were all just like, and they were like, Welcome! And then they were like saying all this this stuff, and we were all just like, what is this gonna do? And then I was in with my f a couple of my friends for that round. Oh my god.

So it was like the three of us walked in and was like, I just couldn't stop laughing. It was one of those moments where you think I need to I need to get myself together now. Yeah, yeah. Because I'm I'm about to do this, like I need to get I need to get myself together. Um so that was really fun, and then after that we left and then came in one by one to do basically all of our monologues and stuff. Obviously, I was in the rages because I had so much stuff to do. Yes. My favourite thing about that audition was the fact that um they asked me to do some conducting because I was in for I was in for that Harry Potter choir master as well. So who did you conduct? So I they put on music and they said, right, you're just gonna conduct like like I think it was like eight bars of eight. As in like Yep. And obviously I had practiced this before because I knew this was gonna happen. Oh, okay. But I was like, So you knew like what to do to conduct? Jodie told me. No way! God, Jones! Oh wow! She was like, Liv, you're not doing the seven, right? I was like, oh shit.

So I was like, I'm just gonna go after the intro and hope that it's right. Yeah. So I went. Cat was obviously counting it out loud, so I knew what one I was on. When I got to the eighth one, I cut it off. The music kept going. So then what? They just looked at me and started laughing. And I went, Do you know what though? It sounds like in the cause it in those sorts of situations where like things go wrong and then like it's just happens laughing. You show your personality though, and I was just like And you show that you're human. And then and then like two seconds later the music stopped. And then they went close enough. I went, yeah, we're gonna go with that was close enough, you know. I'll give it my best go, and that was my best person. That was it. Um so And you booked the job. Yeah, that is amazing. Are you so excited to? Being tragically bad at conducting and speaking. You must have been a little bit good. Well, luckily I don't need that one for the vocal contract, so that is amazing. So, what do you have to do when you go out there? Like, what is your it's like so it's Ash from Sing. Yeah. So it's like I don't know if you've seen Sing, but it's like the little rock porcupine. Yes, I have. Yeah, yeah. I'm giving porcupine realness with my hair right now. Oh my god, that's so fun! Yeah, so it will be like four shows a day, roughly. Um, and the money is great considering I'm on stage for six minutes. That's insane. So And it's gonna be nice and hot. And half the year. Is China not hot? Well, it starts off a bit cold. Oh, does it? Yeah. Oh, they get winter. I don't know that. They do get winter. Everyone said that actually. Oh yeah, no, I I looked it up on my dumb. So we are on to our final question, and it's our listener question, and we have got a question from one of our listeners, and it says, How many songs do you have in your rep? This is actually really hard. Because, right. This is my explanation. Okay. At Conti, they made us have 13 songs for our rep all different categories, right? I've only used like two of them. That's the thing. I feel like when you're at college, I feel like maybe we have a lot because we're trying to find the right song, but also we have a lot because we're told, right, we need two, two sundimes, two this, two that, two that, da da da da. And then you actually come out and you use the same two songs. But also, like But if something works, it just works. And also, I'm one of those people that will look at a brief and go, Oh, this song that I know kind of fits really well for that. I'll just print off a sheet of music and sing that. Oh really? I'm really not someone to stick to like what I wanna like, do you know what I mean? Like a set list. Right. Like if I, for example, if I had a an audition for Heathers and they asked me to sing my own stuff, they wouldn't because they do material first. But um I would be like, okay, so I want to play Heather Mac. So I'm gonna find a song. I'm gonna find that. I I feel like I kind of do the same. I have my set song. I have some set songs, but there are auditions that come up that I'm like, I don't have anything in my rep that didn't suit it. So let me just find something that I'm like familiar with. I'm like, oh that's it. Yeah. Um what was I gonna say? Something oh, something just came into my head that I was like, I need to say this. Oh, that was it. Um I was gonna say as well, there's sometimes I have songs in my rep that don't suit the show I'm auditioning for, but I changed the narrative of it to make it suit. Yeah, and I love doing that. Yeah, that's fun. Because they they're thinking it's gonna be a certain version, you come in with like a whole different angle. Completely different things. Yeah, like taking a ballad and making it into like a comedy song. Even though like it doesn't work always because that's what comedy song's about. Yeah. But um, yeah, I just like doing it. It's fun. Yeah, it's really fun. What's auditioning if it's not fun? I actually that's how I booked Panto. I took a song, I took a song that was a duet. Oh, that's I made into a solo. What did what did you take? Um I sang If Mama Was Married from Gypsy. If Mama Was Married. Yes. Yeah, I took that as a solo. And I just went yeah, and I just went full out. Because I was in for the Wicked Sister, so I was like, I want to make the song. I just I just couldn't think of a song that I was like, what's Wicked Sister? What's this?
