Listen closely, clue by clue, solve the mystery. Who are you? Welcome to Mystery Mirror, a Jewish guessing game for kids. I'm sorry from that Jewish moment, and in each episode of Mystery Mirror, you will become a mystery person, place, or thing from the Jewish world. I'll give you clues in three rounds. Round one, tricky clues, round two getting closer, and round three, almost there. Your mission is to guess who or what you are before the big reveal at the end. Are you ready to look in the mystery mirror? Alright, detectives, let's begin. Round one. Round one, you are a person from long ago. You were a leader. People came to you when they needed help solving problems. You spent a lot of time outdoors. You did a job that very few women did in your times. Your story appears in Tanakh, which stands for Torah, Navi, and Kituvim, or the Bible, the prophets and writings. You were not a queen, but many people listened to you anyway. Do you know who you are yet? Round two You were a leader and a teacher and a prophet. Many people came to you for advice. You helped settle disagreements between people, and you judged cases, you made decisions. And you sat beneath a tree while you worked. Your name is also the Hebrew word for a certain insect. Now do you have any idea of who you could be? Round three, you are one of the judges in Sefer Shoftim, the book of Judges. You sat beneath a palm tree. After the Jewish people won the battle against the enemy army, you sang a famous song. Your name means be in Hebrew. Now do you know who you are? Are you ready for the reveal? Look in the mirror. You are Divora Hanevia or Deborah the Prophetess. Mazletov, mystery solved. Did you know in Devora's time a judge meant a national leader? And she helped guide the entire Jewish people. Devor is described as Eshet Lapidot, which is often translated as the wife of Lapidot, and the word Lapidot can mean torches. Some say this refers to her husband's name or his job, and others say it's describing who she was as a person, someone with fiery energy and inspiration. And the enemy army had powerful chariots that looked very impressive, and people thought that gave them a big advantage in battle. So when the Jewish people defeated them, it was seen as a big and miraculous victory. And that's what inspired Divora to write her song of thanks and praise. Get ready for game time. Let's play Judge Divorah says. If I say Judge Devora says, you do it, and if I don't, you freeze and don't move. Ready? Let's go. Judge Devorah says make a thinking face. Clap your hands. Close your eyes. Judge Devora says put your hand to your ear like you're listening. Raise your hand. Touch your head. Judge Devora says write in the air like you're writing a song. Judge Devora says pretend to sit under a tree. Judge Devora says nod your head like a wise leader. Now scratch your head. And now it's time for your mystery mirror mission. Write or draw one rule you would make if you were a wise leader helping kids get along better with each other. Write about it or draw a picture and ask a grown up to send it to mirror at that Jewish moment dot com. Thanks for listening. If you color in the coloring page, please send a picture. I would love to see how yours comes out. Until next time, keep your minds sharp, detectives.
