SPEAKER_10She said that they were doing fine. Give me all your cover, don't let me know. When I try to swim on a new show, emptied all my pockets, how I'm fell down. Now I'm sweating nine and three game. If this is how it feels, to feel this way. All your empty words that I'll never erase. All of this stuff I can never embrace.

SPEAKER_12How does someone come to place Hello, welcome to the New Music Generator, two hours of the best music from artists from across East Anglia, and we start there in Suffolk with Connor Adams, who will be our guest on the show today in about half an hour. We'll be chatting to him, catching up with him about his new EP release, and also finding out about a live show, an acoustic live show that he is going to be doing in Suffolk at the Suffolk Show next week. Welcome to the programme wherever you're listening to us, whenever you're listening to us, as I say, this is two hours of the best music from artists from across East Anglia. And we really are going the whole way around East Anglia today. We've got music from pretty much every part of the uh the county. Uh all the counties, I should say, Cambridgeshire. Uh we've got some music from Suffolk that we just played, we've got music from Devonshire today, which we haven't played for a little while. Uh and we're also going to be doing some stuff from Essex as well. Uh and we might find some stuff from uh there'll be some stuff from Norfolk and there'll be stuff from anyway. You are very welcome to the programme. I am not on my own today, um, because I have a co-host joining me in the studio, uh, and that is Alexander. Hello. Hello, how are you? I'm very well. It's very good to be back here. It's been a few weeks since you were last year.
SPEAKER_19Yes, and we have more news which we'll tell you a bit about later.
SPEAKER_12Tell us some more exciting news.
SPEAKER_19Yes, yes. Well, last time we're here, we um we're telling about the launch of the new show that I'm gonna be doing. And today I can tell you exclusively that we have um we have the first six on the line after. So it's gonna be seven, and they will be the seventh person that's gonna be there at some point, and there'll be more. This is after the first season. Should we call it first season? Yes. Or have seasons. Yeah, so we'll have a first season. Um yeah, it's very exciting. I mean, I don't know how much you want to say now. We'll say a little bit, save it for a bit later. Yeah, we'll save it for a bit later. But it it's really good to be back and and to listen to the music and life, as it were.
SPEAKER_12That's good. And you're gonna uh join in with the show and uh tell us what you think of some of the tracks we're gonna play, because you probably haven't heard many of these. We're playing a few artists that um we don't play on the show very often, but we haven't played for a while. We're gonna talk about Strawberry Fair again, which you're gonna be involved with us. Yes, that's very exciting.
SPEAKER_19The years after being back at Strawberry Fair is gonna be nice, isn't it?
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I hope the weather's gonna be nice. Maybe it will carry on for an extra week.
SPEAKER_19I mean it needs another week, doesn't it? So yeah, that's true. I mean 30 degrees or whatever it might be. That's a bit too much. I'll take that over pouring rain.
SPEAKER_12Well, uh yeah, I would do, although we are pretty much undercover, so everyone will come flocking to us if it does rain. So there is a silver lining to the weather situation. I'll change my views on what's going on. Exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh if you want to get in touch with us, you can email inbox at new musicgenerator.com. The email address is scrolling along the screen. If you are watching us on YouTube, you might also be listening to us on the radio or on our podcast. However, you're getting in touch with us and listening, you are very welcome. Um speaking of Shorty Fair, an actor who is going to be performing for us are the software band Chance for Good from Amlingham. But before we get into the brand new stuff in the inbox this week, let's play you this track from them. This is their new one called Never Get Old.
SPEAKER_10My friend, show me how to let go be stay with them Before I lose my youth, before the devil shows never get, never get free, this is you never get, never get, never get, never get shot by white, the man makes a problem, yeah. So far down At least that's what they say. I find it up to pay my buddy now, we sell me that to be so never get, never get me out of this.
SPEAKER_12Who will be joining us at Strawberry Fair. They're also on various lineups for other events, uh including First Light Festival, which uh will also be around at which is coming up in a month or so's time. Yeah, just six weeks or so, I think. Um so that's all very exciting. Right, let's get on to new stuff from the inbox. Uh inbox at newmusicgenerator.com. If you are a singer, a band, or a producer and you would like to send your music in to us, this is what you can do.
SPEAKER_22To submit your music to the show, email an MP3 or web file to inbox at newmusicgenerator.com. Ensuring you include a short biography and links to your social media.
SPEAKER_01All submissions from within our coverage area in East Anglia will be considered for airplay.
SPEAKER_12Now, do you remember a band from fairly recent times called Boket of Dead Crows? Yes, I remember the name. Well, Xenonor, we have played a few tracks from them. Xenon are comprised of Graham, who was from Boke of Dead Crows, and Neil Bruce, um, both of those from that band, and their new friend, Emily Rendell. Uh we first started playing their music back in January of Xenonor. I think this is now the third single we played from the band. This one came out a couple of weeks ago on the first of May. So it's available now for you to go and stream, and it is called Shedding Sun. It's called Zen and Order. I don't remember the title of the game very clearly anyway. It's called Shedding Sun. Shri Shredding Sun, as in shredding a guitar, I imagine. Uh and that track was released on the first of May, so it is available for you right now. Our next act is another person who is going to be joining us at Strawberry Fair 2026. This is the second track we've played from this artist. It is Phoenix. Now we know this artist from before, but we're looking forward to seeing what they're like. I'm looking forward to seeing what they're like. Um with a new rocket. Certainly with a last thing out of my life. This one is a bit more laid back, I believe. It's called goodbye.
SPEAKER_27You didn't try to fix things you left me in the past. It was strange, cause I thought you loved me more. The promises you made me, all the things you said before. So now I have to close the door. I kept it jar for you. It's getting cold, a draught is coming through. That's enough for us to get
SPEAKER_12That is Phoenix F F I N I X is how you're spelling it. It's called goodbye. And having talked it up as her doing some punky music, that one was uh a ballad with the uh the strong vocals that we've come to know and love from Phoenix. She'll be joining us at Strawberry Fair in a few weeks' time. We will recap the full lineup of Strawberry Fair later on in the show. Uh now we always said goodbye to Alex. Oh, still can't hear you. Mahapsi a dodgy dodgy microphone. Do you wanna do you wanna grab the other one quickly? And I'll uh I'll do a switcharooney over here because uh then we g you can just wear two microphones and then we'll work out which one's which one's not working for some reason. Which is a bit annoying because these are brand new microphones. And I would expect that's working now, isn't it?
SPEAKER_19Yes, it's it's very good to see Phoenix back. Um we've known them for a long time in different uh guises, haven't we?
SPEAKER_12And uh it's just that's just to follow an arse is development from when they're young. Yeah, grow up and become uh become an adult.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, and uh yes, I think I I I did hear the first single, and so that was a very that that reminded me more of her old stuff. But you know, it she's just got such an incredible voice. It's it's lovely to see the different styles that she's trying out.
SPEAKER_12And she'll be with the band on the on the 6th of June, so we'll uh we'll look forward to that. Right, let's move on to this new track, which is from an artist called Tom Harbour. Tom is a singer-songwriter from Essex. This track, written during an unusually large wave of anxiety, it's called Week of Anxiety, and the track was born from the kind of feelings and memories that come back to haunt you in the middle of the night, sometimes related to the effects of taking antidepressants, it says. It's for anyone who suffers with anxiety on a daily basis, anyone who knows that familiar feeling, as it warps your opinion of yourself and your surroundings. It's a reminder that no one is alone, in that a reminder that you can reach out, even if your anxiety makes you feel isolated. This is available now. It is new from Tom Harbour and Week of Anxiety. The track is called Week of Anxiety. Uh, still to come, we've got some music from artists that we have featured on the show a few times before. We've got new music from Modern Hayes uh coming up. We're also gonna play you chat from Loom because Loom is doing a um big show at the Hunter Club in Barrison Edmonds this weekend. And in a few minutes' time we will play you uh my interview that I did with Connor Adams ahead of his performance at the Suffolk Show. Uh but first we're gonna play you a track from Super Howl. This is Barry, my friend Barry, um, who when he sends a track into the show, he likes to send um well he normally likes to send a humorous email that I read out on air.
SPEAKER_19Lovely.
SPEAKER_12Sort of verbatim.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_12Um but I've but I've upset him.
SPEAKER_19Oh.
SPEAKER_12Unfortunately. Because he was sending it to me, me personally, and I asked him if he'd send it to the inbox address, just so I didn't get lost, you know.
SPEAKER_19There's a lot of that you know, filing isn't there in emails and losing them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12He says, Hi Tim, I attach a copy of my latest song from Super Howl called When You're On Your Own. It's our third collaboration with Michelle Cotti of Rising Cambridgeshire Country Stars, Fenlon Booty. Have you heard of Fenlon Booty?
SPEAKER_19Not yet. Sounds like we're going to.
SPEAKER_12Well actually Fenlon Booty have actually also sent a track in, which we haven't which we haven't got time to play today, but we will play next week. Michelle read a majority of the lyrics on the hoof when she came over one afternoon to record it, as we rejected her previous efforts on account of them being far too cheerful for us. I won't mess about in this email for a change, as A, it's quite a sober track, and B, I'm not sure you'll get it directly, seeing as you've forbidden me from sending them to you personally, very much like I was some kind of an obsessed stalker.
SPEAKER_19I don't think that's what you meant, is it? I know that you it's much easier to have them all in one place, honestly.
SPEAKER_12Barry knows this as well. He's just winding you up. He just likes to have a wind up. I'm about to give a like a nice calming talk. He does sign his email off with much love. So I think I think we're okay. I think we're on good terms, Barry. You've made up. Yeah. It's been a little while there since we've played anything from Super Howl. So let's have a listen to this. This is called When You're On Your Own.
SPEAKER_06Waiting for the dark ball. Then come out in the feet bow. Leave in the moon in you while you're improves control. No one will know how small you feel when you're up or wrong. No one sees lost They all see Winor Tomato spins inside your head. No one feels the storm the wins the tail will disappear.
SPEAKER_10But when no strong you drop, the mess is gone. The bass is full.
SPEAKER_06The broader pieces fall when it gets to think the mess in feel since for you feel with dormural.
SPEAKER_12Nice like the vocals on that. We'll have to find the fenolin booty trap from the inbox and uh um play that. That is the new track from Super Hal, and it is called When You're On Your Own, uh, described by uh Barry as uh being a little bit somber, but um like it. I'm gonna presume haven't checked, uh, but say it's been sat in the inbox for a couple of weeks, uh, that that track is available now for you to go and stream. So uh if you like it, then uh then go and do exactly that. Right, we are about half an hour into the show, 35 minutes into the show. So let's have an interview, shall we?
SPEAKER_22You're listening to the new music generator with Tim Willard.
SPEAKER_12Uh so Connor Adams. I need to edit that jingle. Connor Adams is playing at the Suffolk show in a week's time and um to promote that gig and also to catch up after the release of his new EP. I spoke to uh Connor on the um old Zoom the other day. Uh sounded like Terry Wogan then, didn't I? And um this is what we uh this is what we chatted about. This week's guest is somebody I don't know we've spoken to for a little while. It's Connor Adams. Hello. Hello, how are you? I'm doing alright, thank you. I say we haven't spoken to you for a while. I've played a lot of your music over the last few months, but I haven't haven't caught up with you for a bit. So how's life? Have you got married since the last time I saw you?
SPEAKER_21Got married, yeah man, it's all it's all flying by. Thank you for playing the stuff as well. I really, really appreciate that. Um Yeah, got married, released an EP, gigan. Um I can't believe we're over halfway through May already. Yeah, scary.
SPEAKER_12So 2026 has been it's been a busy year, so you've been releasing um well you've released the EP now, but you were kind of drip fading the the tracks from the EP to us over the last few months. So what's the response been like to those tracks and to the EP in general?
SPEAKER_21Yeah, it's been great. It's been really great. Um I think last year. Uh 2024 was uh kind of like a slower year for me releasing music wise, there was things going on, and I got married and um I had this traffic lights record ready and recorded, um that I was gonna really release it for um There was a couple different labels that were interested in and never happened and then just held fire to 326 with um with that record and that music I'm really proud of. And it's been really great. It's been really, really great to play live as well, checking them in the set. Um really type of new music out there.
SPEAKER_12So the tracks that we're hearing is new then to you, they're pretty old, they've been around for a while.
SPEAKER_21Yeah, they have. I I kind of made a conscious effort not to listen to them too much. Um last year. Um Yeah, I don't know what other musicians think, but like kinda when you write something that's that's that's a song that you're kinda in love with for a little while. And then it seems to be months and months before it actually comes out, so it does it does feel a little old to me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. And so w what do you feel about the the tracks? So I guess if you had a bit of time since they were created and maybe you've gone back and listened to them recently, you you were you proud of this release?
SPEAKER_21Really proud of this release. Definitely the work I'm most proud of today. Um really really honest um lyrically and why I present it live as well. Um live. Um Yeah, just as you say. I'm really, really proud of this recording.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, good. Well I'm glad it's gone down well. We've so we've played uh I think we've played all of the tracks from the uh from the EP and played some of the the videos that you put up on YouTube, some of which are like nice little behind the scenes uh bits of your gigs and stuff. I know you like to document a lot of what you do in uh in video form as well, so it's quite nice to be able to uh to give the listeners a bit of an insight on that now we're on uh we're on YouTube. Um so that's set you up for for this year, and uh the reason why we got you on is because we want to plug the fact that you're gonna be at the Suffolk Show um which is next week, uh playing live for our uh our friends at uh at Gen X Radio. But um what other gigs have you got uh coming up? What what's what's in the diary?
SPEAKER_21Uh we've got lots coming up, we've got at least a festival white festival, which is the biggest this year, which is a couple of big major festivals that are not allowed to in the pipeline. Um absolutely favourite thing to play. So yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_12Have you played the Suffolk Shire before?
SPEAKER_21Been to the Suffolk Shire Been to the Suffolk Shire a long time ago. Never played it. Um yeah, when they when they want to become the moment. I mean Suffolk is a big split place, but also very um very small places where we know a lot of people. Um becoming small places.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, no, definitely. Um and your set will be, I guess, consisting mostly of the paper. What else can we expect? We need to drop some uh stuff in from the from the archive or some some new stuff we haven't heard yet.
SPEAKER_21Absolutely, being acoustic. Um it's always fun for anyone stuff record um studio stuff that's out there in mainly like full bands and uh sometimes I play the as a beautiful being a solo act if I could come in and I can't get a band. This one next week, yeah. This is me and use a guitar and I'll be playing some of the um traction or the small ones. Um really, really good for that. Um it's so different playing between solo and the band. Um I think uh next day that would be really so I suppose you don't play Solo Christian that often, really. Um you played that before, right? 2023 or 2024, yeah.
SPEAKER_12Nice to go back there again.
SPEAKER_21It's really cool because uh we get to watch the show, we get to go and watch a load of um amazing music as well. Yeah, it's just a it's just a brilliant weekend. It's my first major UK festival to go back now knowing what it's like. Um I feel a bit more equipped now with the new record out. Super excited to be um to be back on that stage.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. I guess this is a good time of the year, uh early in the year is a good time to be releasing a record in terms of pitching yourself and getting yourself in the minds of festival promoters and and things for the summer, right? You going at them with some new music. That's that's probably you I guess you've time that deliberately.
SPEAKER_21Or if you haven't, you should claim you have. Yeah, absolutely. It makes sense now you say it. No, um, definitely. I think it it has been it has been really cool to put it out there and get everybody listening to it before we get these um festival stages. Um we've done a couple of headline shows already this uh this year, one in Ipswich, one in London, but we're also gonna be putting some headline shows at the um back end of the summer after after this festival run. Um so yeah, um seems to be a good a good way to go really early in the year.
SPEAKER_12And you've been on the scene for quite a while, I've known you for for quite a long time. Are you still loving music as much as you always have done?
SPEAKER_21Yeah, more than ever really. I think it can be such a um such a personal thing. I mean, when you're younger and you're you're a musician and the guys you're looking up to, um doing you know, you see these superstars playing these messages.
SPEAKER_12If anybody wants to see you see you every single thing, we can have the something in a in a week.
SPEAKER_21Thank you.
SPEAKER_12No worries, you'll always be part of the playlist.
SPEAKER_13But if now that you're few knows to be found all make up, put trust in you that be down in you sleep away.
SPEAKER_10I got this feeling like you push me so you can see me out, for it's pointed out, spoiler.
SPEAKER_13Come pull the wool over my eyes and pray on be along. Come feed me all your lies, I'll send them play along. All around in other time, and this is where you belong. Come tell me that it's from the moon.
SPEAKER_12But first, bec well, this because this weekend is really the first weekend of festival season, I suppose. You think about Lee Stock happening this weekend?
SPEAKER_19Yeah, it's bank holiday weekend as well, isn't it? So maybe that's why it's a start.
SPEAKER_12And the weather's weather's due to be lovely, so bringing in the festival season with some good weather. But an event that's happening uh indoors uh this weekend is Loom. On the 30th of um it's a week after next, sorry, 30th of May, Loom is having a album launch party to celebrate the fact that his album Euphoria, uh not the um spelling of the song by the um Eurovision artist Lorreen, um but Y-O-U FORIA, F-O-R-I-A, is being released on the 23rd. So the album is out at the end of this week, and the gig is on the 30th. There are still limited tickets available if you fancy going along and seeing Loom live. Uh, he was putting out a um request for support acts uh a few weeks ago. I don't think he's announced exactly who that is going to be just yet. Uh so there's some still some news to come uh from Loom on that. But when we find out we will let you know, which is the title of the track we're gonna play. I gotta let you know.
SPEAKER_04I gotta let you know, just a design drive and I met you at an imperfect time. GG playing sex on fire, got me feeling just a little bit wilder. Then you go go go dance to the radio. Whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm fumping to the stereo. No, no, no, no, I'm falling like a domino and I know. I can't let you know Tell me how you feelin' Maybe I'll know we I can't let you know Not you what you feelin' Maybe we could be friends I gotta let you know we were always chasing Patriots played at one time in the back of my mind All our friends knew exactly what it means to universe humor and timing Then you go go go test to the radio Whoa whoa whoa I'm bumping to the stereo No no no no I'm falling like a domino and I know all I can't let you know Tell me how you feelin' Maybe I'll know we I gotta let you know Now show how you feelin' Maybe we could be fair I gotta let you know Wrote you a letter Didn't even send it You a Jesus that died to heaven No Sing you a love song Guess I got the words wrong and I thought you an angel could be so faithful I know Tell you how I'm feeling Maybe I don't know we I gotta let you know No just how I'm feeling when I gonna be friends I'm gonna let you know I gotta let you know Oh when I'm gonna be friends I'm gonna let you know that is loom and let you know there are a few tracks already available to stream from the album Euphoria.
SPEAKER_12The rest of the album will be available on the 23rd, and the album launch show is at the Hunter Club Arts Centre in Barris and Edmunds on the 30th of May. You like that song, Alex?
SPEAKER_19I like that very much, yes. That was a very had a good old boogie to that one. Nice little pop pop ditty. I'm falling off my chair. Don't do that.
SPEAKER_12Sorry, you're not on camera at the moment, so people can't see that you're falling off a chair. Hang on. I'm not actually falling off the chair.
SPEAKER_19Sliding across the room on my chair.
SPEAKER_12If a hand came in from the right hand side and pushed you, you just slide out the shot on the other side. Yeah. I keep forgetting I'm on a wooden floor and a wheelie chair, it's not a good combination.
SPEAKER_19No, and maybe there's a slight slope in the room.
SPEAKER_12Oh maybe. Maybe the whole the whole house is on a wonk.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, maybe. And I'm a fidget, so I think that's the trouble. I fidget about, so as I start moving in the chair, the chair starts taking off on itself.
SPEAKER_12So if you don't correct yourself, you'll just end up end up out of the shop by the time we finish the show.
SPEAKER_19Yes, I'll I'll just inch across slowly as the time goes on. You'll know.
SPEAKER_12We're gonna hear more from Alex in a few minutes' time um because um she's here to tell us more about her series Behind the Music. Uh we will do that very soon. Still to come, we've got music from S23, uh, new music from Judy Simpson, artist we've not played on the show before, a folk artist. Uh we've also got another track from Mike Udin, uh, also music from Melancholic Technotronic if you like your electronic music and also modern haze. So uh stay with us. Now though, we're gonna play you this from Lost Without Cause. This is their track called Dark.
SPEAKER_08Now we outside your door, knowing you worthy We could have had it all, we didn't feel cool, we didn't feel love us through the door. Remember when you waited outside my house You look tension in your shock, cigarette it'll fly Music we listen to is back, coming back to back, we'll remember when the riddle played it back, whoa And yeah I know now we'll make it so Let's get it back together back together on the hold now I'm gonna tell her But we won't We'll get it back together, back together With you Have to think about you're watching your piano thing in my head I could have sung along, can you tell me what I'm wrong?
SPEAKER_12I could've never had to write this song And you're gonna make it so with you That is Murada and back to you, a young Cambridge band who we like a lot, haven't played that song enough on the show over the last few weeks. Uh you are listening and watching if you're on YouTube to the new music generator. You can watch us on YouTube if you want to. Hello, Alex is here as well. She can wave to the camera, wave again because you won't cut. There you go. Um we're also on uh the radio across Suffolk, we're on the radio across Norwich, we're on a podcast. You can watch the visualised podcast back on Spotify. Although I have realized that a few of the recent episodes um have disappeared. And I and I know why some of them have disappeared, but I don't know why some others disappeared. So I am looking into that. Um there's a few that have uh fallen into it. It says they're published, but they're but they're not there. Um so I need to look into uh why they've fallen into the ether. Uh but if you get your podcast or any other podcast provider, you can get the audio version of the show as well. Other people like to listen when they're on a walk or in their car or whatever it might be. Uh you're most welcome. Uh we are going to talk about Behind the Music, which is Alex's new series coming up in a few weeks after we've played you this next track from S23, which is a collaboration of uh musicians and producers from in and around Cambridge. Um and this one is a collaboration between S23 and somebody called Lady Lord, um, who uh Lady Lord was found online. Uh and she's a new artist from Cambridge. This is Taylor Maid, uh, who's uh sent this track through. He does release stuff under his own name, but he also releases stuff under the S23 name. This track came out on the 9th of May. It's a joint release between S23 and um Mrs. Lord, Lady Lord. Um he says he saw a video of her singing on an Instagram reel and then invited her to his studio to see if they could create some music and she agreed. So there we go. Simple as that. She's 29 years old from Cambridge, she's never released music before. And this is the first release of three that we're working on together. So I've not heard this track yet, so let's see what we think of S twenty-three and Lady Lord. This is mind to mind.
SPEAKER_23It's all time to shine, it's trying to be your side to dock, wound in light, stick your people doing, it's all time to fly, heart, my to mind, it's all time to shine, it's trying to be, like your side to do, it like, stick your fucking doing, it's all time to fly.
SPEAKER_06That's an almost military. And I guess that's what you and me. That's what we make to be at the beginning tonight, surprise. Beautiful. Thank you and make up really good.
SPEAKER_23You deny the bottom story in your eyes.
SPEAKER_06Are you surprised I wanted to go? Don't deny you want me to complain.
SPEAKER_23I don't care what you think I will sacrifice my pride.
SPEAKER_06I'm sorry, I can't abide. And after all, I don't want you five.
unknownIt's all time to fly.
SPEAKER_23Light and strike, copy, by your side to dust, moon in life, just think of what we can do, it's all time to fly.
SPEAKER_07Always change your brain cannot stream.
SPEAKER_12There we go. That is uh Mrs. Madam Lady Lord, and uh that's uh a collaboration with S23. The track is available now, and it is uh called Mind to Mind. I like that. That was nice, yeah. Nice voice.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, okay, lovely.
SPEAKER_12Like that. An artist that's just you know, did put put something up on Instagram, got picked up by uh well not picked up, maybe that's quite the right way to phrase it, but invited to go to uh Taylor's studio and uh away we go, there we go. Got a a track out of it. And said it's gonna do maybe a few more. Yeah, apparently it's the first of three tracks they're working on together. Yeah. So that's exciting. Speaking of exciting things, if you were watching and listening to the show a few weeks ago, you'll you'll know Alex um well because uh she came in and she told us that she's starting a new series on our YouTube channel, um, which is a long form interview-based series called Behind the Music. And we said we'd have more details to come. Well, she's come back with some more details.
SPEAKER_19We've started recording it. We have started. So we are gonna record all six of them and then we're gonna put them out. So that's why we were a little bit cautious at first, because we you know, there's a lot to take in. Hadn't recorded it, didn't know what it was gonna be like. I didn't know what's gonna be like, didn't know how musicians were gonna take to it, whether they're gonna like not really be very keen on uh talking to me in that sort of way, because we are kind of delving right in. I mean, I'm already finding out things I've never known because we've never had the time to talk. So it is like we said, literally long form, about an hour, hour and a half, um chatting, finding out about what motivates them, how they got into music. Uh it's been really lovely. And we are filming it as well as just doing the audio, so that's a whole new learning curve for myself as well as uh my producer who's sitting in front of me.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. I j I just sit in the room and um press buttons to cut the cameras.
SPEAKER_19Yeah.
SPEAKER_12But it is a and try to be quiet. I haven't done a very good job of that so far. So unfortunately being ill whilst we're recording it, and you know when you're you have to be quiet and then it makes it a hundred times worse. Think about being quiet and then you can't be quiet and then it makes it worse, and then you just need to cough.
SPEAKER_19Yes.
SPEAKER_12So I I I could have played the outtake actually of where I uh where I exploded the other day.
SPEAKER_19But the best bit for me Ooh oh gone a bit louder now. Yeah. Um the best bit for me was um the fact that I couldn't see, I could only see you out of the corner of my eye.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_19But um my guest who was melody.
SPEAKER_12She was facing me.
SPEAKER_19Was facing you, and she said she she could see you getting redder and redder.
SPEAKER_12It's like something at the Charlie in the chocolate factory which like the pressure was building, and then I just had to So I thought you just did a big sneeze at first because I just heard this noise, and then yeah, we have uh It is on tape, but you might we might do a if any other funny things happen in some of the other recordings and we might make a blooper reel, but uh otherwise that'll stay on the cutting room floor, I think.
SPEAKER_19Yes, but um yeah, it's going really well and we we have the ability to play recorded music, to playing li people's videos and to play live as well. So it's it's really special for me. I'm really loving it. Um and yeah, so would you like me to say who's doing it, or are we gonna you know, how would you like to play this? Yeah. You know, I'm not very good at the same time.
SPEAKER_12Well, let's talk about the two that we've recorded so far.
SPEAKER_19Okay, so so far we have recorded, wait for it, Jake Day, musician and uh producer of many of the tracks that we hear on this station, as well as Edward Ellis. And um Melody Coles, who I just mentioned, who recorded just the other day. Um and coming up, would you like to make me to s re reveal or should we play one of those? Should we play a little clip from one of those?
SPEAKER_12From Jakes first. So we thought we'd give you a little teaser. Um this is gonna go out on Sunday, um Sunday nights, alternate Sunday nights on our YouTube channel from the thirty-first of May, which is a week on Sunday.
SPEAKER_26Yes.
SPEAKER_12Um and um this is one of the episodes. Well, this is it's almost like the pilot episode because when you watch it, you if you watch it carefully, you'll be able to tell some differences between this one and all the other ones that we do. Um some little Easter eggs in the background. We'll we'll leave you to work out that yourself. Um but this is a clip of um of Jake talking about a music video that he recorded with Brave Liaison, the band that he was in until last year, and uh quite a funny story to do with that.
SPEAKER_20And uh then after the session, we get back to Tom's parents' house and said, Oh, we've just recorded this single, casual, and we're thinking about doing a music video, and Sam with his creative videographer, video producer minds around his house like we could do a music video in this house, and we could do it like a one-shot where the camera follows you around the house. And we're like, that's how it's we just let him ride a bit on the code for gracious enough to let us use the like random house. They've not even been in the house very long. And then I'm not sure whether they knew we were gonna be climbing on the table with them like throwing ourselves around and they went out for the day and uh and we spent that entire day shooting this music video that like Sam had storyboarded out. We all had because it was a one-shot, the camera does follow us all around, and when the camera isn't on you, you're moving to your your next position. So there was a lot to remember, there were many positions around the house. If you have a trip over the cameras, like luckily not. I mean, someone did trip over, and the one thing that Tom's parents said before they went out is like, look, we're happy for you to use the house for this music video. The chandelier in the living room is quite expensive. Please just avoid that at all because it was a one-take video, it all would have to go right in that one take. Yeah, there was no cutting the camera and starting again. Like, if any mistakes happened during the take, well, you either start again or you just see it through. So I remember doing about 17 takes of this one video, and then we then went back to like take eleven because that was the best one. But unlike the final take or the penultimate take, Johnny the drummer runs into the chandelier and knocks a whole piece of it, which shatters on the floor. And we're all trying to keep a straight face because we know A, we can't ruin this take, but B, we're in trouble now. Yeah, you just smashed the chandelier.
SPEAKER_12There you go.
SPEAKER_19Oh, that's making me smile even listening to that now. Um he was lovely, wasn't he?
SPEAKER_12Yes, he was really, really up for it. You can see how um happy and how engaged he was in the whole interview.
SPEAKER_19Well, I think uh, you know, I'd say I have to thank you, Jake, very much to Jake Day because um he was the first person. He was my first one. He was the guinea pick. And um, you know, we weren't even sure how it was going to go, but I had this idea in my mind, and that's I knew what I roughly wanted to do. And honestly, I was so happy that Jake was up for it as well, and he told us some great stories, so you know, you're when you hear it, you're here. He he told us stuff that I honestly haven't heard from him before and knew where you know, you you sometimes you only meet people sometimes at gigs, you speak to them for five or ten minutes, or even if they do come in and and do an interview with you for the radio or whatever, you're only sort of talking about that latest single or perhaps a gig they're gonna go to or something. So it's really nice to kind of say, Okay, chill, step back, let's see how you know, let tell me all about you and and get to know you a little bit better. Yeah. Um and I've absolutely loved it. I mean after that one I was absolutely buzzing, I couldn't sleep that night because it just was so such a great thing to do. So, you know, I'm really looking forward to all of these, really.
SPEAKER_12So Jake was the first one, and then we recorded uh the second one just last weekend with Melody Coles. Yes. Who's somebody that we both know, we've known Melody for a long time. Um and you kind of touch on that in the in the show as to um how young she was when she first started on the scene and how she's kind of evolved and she had a break for a little while for some health reasons, and now she's kind of back firing on pretty much all cylinders again, which is really nice to see. Um let's play you another clip uh from from this particular uh episode.
SPEAKER_19And you have to spot the differences and things that we decided to change in the filming.
SPEAKER_12Spot the differences. There's a few more that we didn't cut the camera at all in that clip with Jake, but um I think you noticed there's a few more camera cuts on uh on this one and a few Easter eggs in the background. Um yeah, this is a clip from uh from Melody's show um that we did just last weekend.
SPEAKER_19Now, talking about some lighting recently you'd had a um you won a competition to go and do some recording somewhere else. Do you want to tell us about that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so uh it was a a TikTok thing, there's a bunch of competitions, social media, I don't really understand it. I think I just accidentally shared too much about my life and then there was a um competition to record in Georgia Studio and you're in halfway and have to let you know. And then yeah, I was really lucky to go and record in the studio. It's wonderful. Um I love about the local music community is that you make actual real friends, like these are not just people that is your producer or who you work with, like they become friends and like a massive part of your life. So I really enjoyed that. We all get to hang out and um recording this beautiful studio.
SPEAKER_12So there we go. No, I didn't know that story. I think you did.
SPEAKER_19I knew it I knew that she'd been to record, but I didn't really know kind of how she got there or why she got there.
SPEAKER_12And also a nice synergy there between that clip and the first one we played is that she mentioned Jake because she does work with Jake um producing her music, so uh that was nice to have those two together. There's some stories of um I think Jake mentions Melody and Melody mentions Jake.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, and that that all happened, I think, throughout um the series because I think there's so many links with so many artists and so many other artists, which is fantastic, and I love the way uh the music scene is that it is very supportive of each other, and you'll find people supporting each other at gigs and or liking the music, whatever. So, and obviously Jake producing a lot of music, but you know, we got to hear about um how Jake got into music in the first place and how he he ended up in the path of a of a music producer, which as he says is one of kind of the luckiest people around that he can do something up to us all the time.
SPEAKER_12Whereas Melody was basically born into it, almost literally.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, yes, almost literally, yeah, with parents that were musicians already, and um she said she d uh you know, she doesn't she didn't even know that that wasn't a thing that everybody did. And I think that's often the way, isn't it? But you're born something that's what you think people do, and that's all you do.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_19So yeah.
SPEAKER_12So those two ones uh the ones that we've done. Uh the series will start on the 31st of May at 8 o'clock on the New Music Generator YouTube channel. There will also be an audio only podcast version that will go out on our uh podcast feed as well. Um we're not gonna tell you just yet which episode is gonna be first because we haven't quite decided yet. Um but we do have four more episodes to record, and we'll tell you more about those, shall we, after we've played a track. Shall we play a Brave Liaison track first? Yeah. This is from their last album. This is called Fall to Reason.
SPEAKER_19And you have to listen to the episode with with Jake to hear what's going on.
SPEAKER_12Find out more. Alright, so you've spoken to Jake and you've spoken to Melody. Yes. Who else is who else is to come?
SPEAKER_19Lined up, we have a Gabby Rivers, who's just obviously just brought out a new EP. And been announced. And being announced playing at Latitude, which is very exciting. Because I'm going to be there too. I think you will both are going to be there, aren't we? Um Josh Robbins of Lost Robbins now, who is playing is been announced playing at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
SPEAKER_12Yes.
SPEAKER_19As is has Melody Coles, I might add. Um Luke James Williams, who's just got out a new album, Lime's Hotel, and is currently touring with that and talking about the synergy, is playing at the junction in June and with Melody Cole's support. That's going to be also wonderful. Uh I'm very interested to hear how he gets his music together. And then Vicky Jones from Fred's House. Who um not only just does Fred's House, of course, does many musical things, so um lots of musical theatre as well. So I'm gonna see about her how she got into music and songwriting and getting into bands and everything else. So yes.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I'm looking forward to Vicky particularly, I think, because I've known Vicki for a long time.
SPEAKER_19Exactly, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_12There'll probably be something there that I'll learn that I won't have known before.
SPEAKER_19Yes. So that's exactly. Yes, there's the other some of the others I have well, I've known them all for quite a long time. But like you say, I don't know some of the you you only know some of the details, so um we'll be hearing stuff and I you will definitely find out things about them. Not not like massive scary secrets, but just things about their music and how they the their creative process and etc.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, very much loving it.
SPEAKER_12Alright, so behind the music starts 31st of May on our YouTube channel. Uh keep an eye on our social media for details on who the first guest will be, um, and then we'll announce uh probably like the week before who the next one's gonna be and go from there.
SPEAKER_19Exactly.
SPEAKER_12We don't need to say in advance what the full schedule's gonna be. Just kind of keep that keep that up our sleeves. No one will remember anyway. And you say you said earlier that if we run it every fortnight and we start then, then we'll run through till uh August, I believe. August time.
SPEAKER_19Yeah, I've written them all down. Brilliant. Yeah. So then we'll obviously look at booking some more in and recording those. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Brilliant. Alright, looking forward to that. Um and let's play you a track from Melody. This does feature in the show that she uh she did with us. So she's got a lot going on at the moment with the support with Luke James Williams and also at the folk festival. She not long ago supported Lost Robbins as well, uh played the Eddington Music Festival. Uh so yeah, she's been very busy. This is her track called More Than Once.
SPEAKER_02I've been waiting for the clouds to break. Because I got a few things I left to say. Sitting in your car listening to hear comes a sigh. I hate to tell you the forecast that's to come. I hate to tell you that your heart breaks more than once. You don't like the club, there's too much noise. And you'd rather be at home and get your heart broken by voice. I hate to tell you when you think you fell so I hate to tell you that your heart breaks more than more than more than more than He'll say that you got your mother's eyes. But you only seem to see it when you cry. I hate to tell you that he's his father's son. I hate to tell you that your heart breaks more than once. More than more than more than love. More than more. I hate to tell you that your heart breaks more than once.
SPEAKER_12That is more than once from Melody Coles. You are listening and watching the new music generator. We're here for another half an hour, and we're going to get back to the inbox in a few moments' time. At first, a mention of Le Stock Festival that is happening this weekend, 23rd, 24th of May. It's happening in uh well kind of Long Melford, Kempwell Hall in Long Melford. And you might remember we partnered with Leaf Stock to give one NMG supported artist the opportunity to open up at the festival. And myopia will be doing that opening up on Sunday afternoon at midday. So let's play you two on the ground from them.
SPEAKER_03Looking at the photograph, in our dust, some of the functions.
SPEAKER_09Oh no, make it three batteries. Let yourself become nothing less than for me. Justify yourself in the way you move. I know that's your life. Baby, you just gotta dance.
SPEAKER_12Who are playing at Lee Stop this weekend. Also, before that we play Jimmyopia, who will be opening up the second uh day on the Sunday at midday. Other local acts to perform are Gabby Rivers, Connor Adams, and the Tom Saunderson band. Also on the lineup. On Saturday, Sonique, Louise, Marvin Humes, or Phoebe Austin's on the lineup as well, she's local. And then on the Sunday, you've got the Sugar Hill Gang, Assword, and a Craig Charles DJ set. So quite a good lineup. Um I'll be popping along there on Sunday to uh go and see and give my support to myopia. It's a Kemwell Hall on in Long Melford uh on Sunday the 24th and Saturday the 23rd of May. Uh charity event. So go and give it your support. Right, let's get back to the inbox and squeeze some more tunes in before we go. This next one is a Scottish singer songwriter from Shefford, which is in Bedfordshire. There's a new single released on the first of May called Falling. It was written originally for the Watford Focus songwriting writing competition in November last year, where she made the top ten finalists lineup. Hope you would consider it for the new music generator. Well, let's do that now. Let's have a listen. This is Judy Simpson and Falling.
SPEAKER_17How did we see the stuff? When they were hidden by Clown. But somehow we lost the wish. How did we?
SPEAKER_10How did the sky How did we say that?
SPEAKER_12If you are a singer songwriter, producer, or band and you would like to be featured on the programme, get in touch with us, inbox at new musicgenerator.com. Now time to hear a track from Mike Udin. We played a few tough uh songs from Mike over the last few months. He says, Hi Tim, hope you're well. Wanted to send over a new original track. The first from a latest batch of recordings I've done with my son, Ben Udin, who we all know as the drummer from Good Health, amongst other bands. The song explores how people cope with overwhelming loss and pressure, sometimes by denying that anything is actually wrong, and sometimes by simply needing to escape from it all. Its central message is summed up by the line Nothing that's serious, no matter what anyone says. At first, the idea comes from avoidance and emotional exhaustion, running away to the seaside, a place of refuge and recovery. But as the song develops, it takes on a deeper meaning. After experiencing real tragedy and loss, many of the worries that once felt overwhelming begin to seem smaller in perspective. The song balances melancholy with hope, using the seaside as a symbol of distance, healing and emotional reset. Musically, it sits in an emotive soul indie space with a reflective, cinematic feel. Getting too serious was originally recorded by Red Velvet in 2020, with a rhythm used in jazz known as feathering, that gives a slightly rock feel. On their album If Hawks Were Dubs, and he's uh sent me a link that you can find on that red velvet folk.bandcap.com as our friend uh Les's band. Over time, working as a solo artist, I developed the song into a more of a homage to Faith by George Michael, with its distinctive RP percussive style, sometimes referred to as hand jive or bow didddly rhythm. And then I developed the harmonies to give the song a warm beetles eagles a feel. This time we recorded all the parts in my flat in Cambridge using Logic Pro, then played drums on the computer keyboard. I used acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, and sang main and backing vocals. I'm sure that Ben added some extra backing vocals and electric guitar whilst mixing and mastering the track too. He's this is our first real partnership recording. I like this. Father and son working on music together. This is new from Mike Den.
SPEAKER_26It is called Getting Too Serious I Gotta get out of this cold, I'm sleeping up all night and the sight's not pretty. Gotta get away to see the sea again one solution is to run away and soft my wounds in a cold sea spray. Take the time to ease my mind a babe. Been getting too serious. Nobody's laughing no more. It's getting too serious. I don't know what we're doing this for. It's very mysterious. Me, I'm just running away, cause nothing's that serious. No matter what anyone says. It's a two-hour drive. Radius playing and the DJ says it's alright. Alright, alright. The man in the mirror looks back at me. Says the only way out that I can see. Running away to see, to see the sight. Cause nothing's that serious. I'm living in a crazy dream. No, nothing's that serious. Nothing is what you see, cause it's very mysterious. Me, I'm just running away, cause nothing's that serious. No matter what anyone says. Still get feeding, but I cut amused. I guess this will be my billion brand new style. If it don't work out again this time, it's no big deal, no big crime. Ain't no reason to tear myself apart. Been getting too serious. Nobody's loving them all. Been getting too serious. Don't know what we're doing this for, it's very mysterious. Me, I'm just running away, cause nothing's that serious. No matter what anyone says One hard laugh, one soft smile, one's gold, and give us on a golden mile. One good friend and a never-ending day. One last look, not behind. It's never been worth it. Whatever you find. When you break the ring, you throw everything away. Cause nothing's that serious. We're living in a crazy dream. No, nothing's that serious. Nothing is what it seems. It's very mysterious. Me, I'm just running away. Cause nothing's that serious. No matter what anyone says, we've been getting too serious. Nobody's loving no more. It's getting too serious. Don't know what we're doing this for, it's very mysterious. Me and just running away, cause nothing's that serious, no matter what anyone says. No matter what anyone says.
SPEAKER_12Mike Qedin, collaboration with his son Ben. That is getting too serious. This is the new music generator. Time for a new track from indie rock outfit Modern Hayes, whose new single, What Do You Want Me to Say, captures the emotional weight of closing one chapter while standing on the edge of what comes next. Blending raw vulnerability with a soaring anthemic chorus, the track explores the tension between holding on and letting go without offering any easy answers.
SPEAKER_10Are you sending me up for sabotage? You stuck the memory now and history for that march. You know how follow you to hell and back and left the bottom line.
SPEAKER_12This lovely email came into the inbox. Inbox at new musicgenerator.com. Hi there, my name is Ben May, I'm a musician from Norwich. I heard NMG via future radio last night for the first time and loved the show. Well, welcome Ben and welcome to all of our listeners in Norwich. Thought I'd drip feed for your consideration a few tracks for my latest album, I'm going out. Starting with the lead single called Passerby. It tackles lost, life, and love. I hope you like it. If you like it all.com if you want to do the same as Ben, particularly if you are a new listener to our show. Thank you, Alex, for coming in and uh joining me and keeping me company.
SPEAKER_19Absolutely my pleasure. Thank you very much for having me, and I'm very much looking forward to people hearing the new show on the 31st of May was starting.
SPEAKER_12Behind the music. Uh coming up very soon. We'll also see you at Strawberry Fair on the 6th of June. Yes. On the stage, comparing alongside myself and Ned, looking forward to that. Another email that came in. Hi, my name is Riley Rose Richardson, artist named Red. I'm a 14-year-old starting my own punk rock solo project. I play guitar for my band Severely Outnumbered, who I noticed have been announced as a support act on Gavitape Sandy's Barry St. Edmonds headline show that's happening in a few months' time. I sing, I play guitar and I play bass and self-talk. I just finished recording my first song, Nothing Changes, today at Saltwell Studio. This is red and nothing changes.
SPEAKER_25Stories fed through tickups. I hate my words. Watch me try a fooling hard without a break. Watch me make the same mistake again, no swaps, no exchanges. So I guess wear what? Then nothing changes.
SPEAKER_10Same old places. Same old places. Nothing changes.
SPEAKER_25Then nothing. Smashing windows, curtains drawn, crimson red across the lawn. Pictures burning candlelight. The actor brought the endless night. I'm trying to find my way out. Stuck in this worm or in the shouts. The fear of losing my own life. Will not lose me today, then nothing changes.
SPEAKER_10Nothing ever changes.
