Hi guys, it's Carrie and Stu. And cheers to another episode of We Might Get in Trouble for This Podcast. Today we are being sponsored unofficially by Celsius. Metabolism by Fat Burning. Solve All Your Problems. Drink. Is that what you're drinking to? Yeah. And cheers to you. But I will give an update on the Gen X dating diary. Yes. I went out with two other divorcees. So actually, like the script that you wrote. Oh, yes. A very famous script. It's called um well, three. It was called Three Divorces and a Virgin. Right. Uh, no virgins, just three divorce days. Well, some might get divorced three epics. 10 years. Yes. Yeah. 12. You get the virgin card back. I think so. I think so. So no two girls. The dating conversation was so funny. One of them is 49, and she said, How old is too old for me to date? I said 50. And she's standing a 68-year-old. Okay. No comments. The other one is 5'8. She said, How short is too short? I said 5'11. She likes a 5'5 guy. And so we were going around the bar trying to find a guy that's fine snips, which we could not find to stand next to her and um to show her. Yeah. And so he's a fireman. So he does he'll probably have a ladder like at all times. So like I don't think it's a problem. Uh and so I'm not going to talk about my situation, but I did get called, um, I did get called smitten last night, which is bad. This is bad. This is bad. Uh, they're telling me I'm smitten, I'm being catfished. He's not real. They need my location because I have a date up Saturday. Location, I agree. Yeah. So it's happening. Yeah. That's all I can say. Yes. Uh, and I talked about him on the podcast, and I'm talking about him again. But I, as I called him the other day, he's so analog. What is analog? Analog is a person who's not tech savvy. Okay. I'm kind of analog. I use AOL. You and I are a little bit analog. And um, as we talked about yesterday, I would like all dating to be analog. I don't want people looking me up on the Googler. Right. In the interweb. But you can't help it. Um, that's where the things are. And it's just three women sitting around a bar last night, laughing our heads off, and then like it's just we're mixit, like all the nonsense, and what do we want? What do they want? All this stuff. And then I have this, and they're they're just funny because she's like, I friend zoned him. And then I called her Bible booty texting, okay? Because they're Christian and she's totally texting, but she texts him at 11 o'clock at night. What are you doing? I was like, You said you friend zoned him and they text for like an hour last night. Hello. Whoa, that's a lot for friend zone. Yeah, I and he likes her so much. He wants to marry her. He's sending her videos about a Proverbs 32 woman. No, 32, that's mine. 31. By my book, Proverbs 32 Woman. He's sending her videos about Proverbs 31 woman wife. Now, what? Now I being the mature woman that I am, I called the said person and said, you have to call me back because I don't call boys. So he called me back. Because I'm like, why are you texting? Right, right. Why are you texting? She's like, well, I just prefer um the intimacy of texting. I was like, I just prefer I'm tired. So we have now logged. I'm gonna guess like 35 phone hours, like an eighth grader. I've talked to this said gentleman for 35 hours. Wow. Yeah. And then she said send him a pick. So I sent him a pick from the bar. Right. We sent more food. As you do. It was cute though. It was like a cute little, I'll show our viewers. Yeah. It was curated. Um, like, yeah, like sort of like I do a barbs. I just I had a little yellow jump. Yeah. Uh, we've sent more pictures of food than anything else. Yeah. So I'm meeting a perfect stranger who I've never seen a video of. I've never had a video chat with. I love it. It's so analog. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I know you don't love that, but I know I love it. What's wrong? Yeah. How many pictures had you seen of Brody when you have the e-harmony ones? Did you? And we talked about this yesterday, but did you know within seconds were like I would I would make out with the screen? Um minutes. I think I have a three second. Probably.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I, you know, there were a lot of funny things. Yeah, I mean, he was just such a nice guy. I'd never date like I dated nice guys before. You know, but I never dated like him. And you married him. I actually never dated Brony before.
SPEAKER_00I met him. And you married him. And he was such a good He was such a big guy. But I feel like this is the first time I've had such a normal communication with someone that has never flirted with me as well, maybe, but like never said you're you look one way, you don't look never. And we always talked, I have we had our savior complexes in our 20s. So I was carry popp-ins and I would meet somebody carry poppins. No, like with one of my boyfriends. It was always like some late night West Hollywood Brea bar while he's like in a suede jacket smoking a cigarette. And I'm like, you'll quit that for me. He's like, Yes, I will. Put the cigarette out. We're done. We're cooked. Like and then that's two years of my life. I can't care back. Totally. Two years. It always, I uh I just went into it with like, well, this is gonna be a long yeah. And it I don't know if if the kids, if the new agers call it manifesting, I was sort of like, this is happening. All my boyfriends were like that. It was never uh like a casual Yeah, not all, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't think I ever had anything really casual that was actually a relationship.
SPEAKER_00I went from kind of like a relationship, and every guy that I dated or liked or spent time with it turned into that. Yeah. So I'm 44. Gonna be 45.
SPEAKER_01You're a lot younger than me. Um, but I've only been single one year since I was like 20.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So and and but there's more than one man in there. I just yeah.
SPEAKER_00So my friend uh Tammy, let's call her Tammy, she was talking about her um what did she, her horror of Babylon years. Yeah. And so we have equal footing on that behavior, but she did all hers in 12 months. Oh wow. So she has all of her like bad stories from her like right before she got married. I'm like, Yeah, I was single until I was 31. So we got a good, we got a good decade of that nonsense going on. I'm talking city streets in New York. Yeah. I was talking to Gina last night, my friend, and we've been friends just so much, and uh, I think this is a safe enough story to share. But I'm walking through the streets of New York with this sweet, I'm gonna give him a shout out. Love you, Joshua Cohen. We're still friends. Uh sweet Jewish boy, and it's New York City and it rains and it fills on an umbrella. And he's talking about Pablo Naruto poetry, and then the crumb deal comes talking about cooking. And this is it. This is the this is the moment. It's two o'clock in New York City. It's hot, it's summer. My friend's air conditioner has conveniently broke, who I'm staying with. Uh-huh. Love you, Evan Feldman. Uh-huh. And he says to me, I know that this may seem like a lot. It's New York and everything seems to be closed. Liar, liar, liar. Everything is not closed. It's open in New York City at two o'clock in the morning. We're walking through the streets of Manhattan. He goes, I would love to show you my cookbooks if you would like to come up to my apartment at two o'clock in the morning. I went to a payphone because I was all Jesusly at this point. I had turned my life over to doing things. And I called Gina Miller and I said, Listen, uh, this nice man would like me to go into his apartment and show me his cookbooks. It's 2 15. Uh-huh. In Christ's name, what should I do? And she said, do it! Absolutely. Go, do not pass go. And the gates of I mean, the cutest. And he had the wall-to-wall books. He had the wall-to-wall books. And the wall, we were so young. And he had the wall-to-wall cookbooks and he had the wall-to-wall poetry. It's three. Do you remember those nights? And he read me like poetry and he put me. This is God's honest truth. He put me in the guest room and he gave me a blanket and he went into his room. And that is when it that is started an obsession with that kid. Yeah. Obsession that was like he came to LA, he went to the church picnic, he was in the pie-eating contest. Uh-huh. We just can't. I'm just setting up C.S. Lewis books. I mean, one night like that. Yeah. You're in. I don't care if you're doing illicit things or you're not. Um I was in with him and it we're still friends. But it's just like those moments, like those magical moments, right? So now I'm older, and now I'm just like having this even keel. I don't know if this man even thinks I'm more attractive than a fly. He's never mentioned it. But here's the thing: I still have that like butterflies thing. You think that's great? I definitely do. Def okay. But that's for his intellect. Like his intellect quickness, and I've definitely seen pictures, but like he's so funny, and and there's been no pretensions of like, if I'm like, I can't call you, call me. He like picks up the I mean, he just he's like, we're on for the ride. What's this ride today? So where we like, okay. I'm like, I can't find my teeth. He's like, sends me a text. He's like, they're in your mouth. I put them in the glass last night. I put them in the glass last night. Uh so anyway, so that's where we are. I think it's cute, but I feel like I'd be okay if it doesn't uh happen. It'd be a bummer. Uh yeah, but I'm not like investing. I haven't gone like this guy in New York. I was basically like, you should change your hop life and your religion. How did that end? Friends, but it really hurt because a few months later, after him coming to California and like me trying to convert him so much, he said to me so point blank, I was gonna go to New York. And he was like, Hey, um, I'm not your guy. I'm never gonna be your guy. Like, I could be your guy, but I'm not the guy that I know you need. Yeah, and I know you want, and I know that you want me to be there for you. You can't come to New York, you can't do this to yourself. He was so kind, I balled, and he's like, I want to be friends. I was like, cannot be friends. So fast forward, a year later, my friend was getting married in a Catholic church, and we had rekindled a friendship, and he came as my date. And the mother was like, Don't drink the wine, don't drink the blood of Christ. And we uh I might have talked about this. We had a lovely platonic weekend. He met my dad, we hung out with my family, and I talked about him on the other episode. It ended okay, yeah, but uh heartbreaking when they start so fast, yeah, and they they they fizzle, it hurts. Yeah. So I guess maybe now I just don't want to get hurt like that again. Totally.
SPEAKER_01I I think, you know, I mean, going in with your eyes wide open and also just dealing with the flow.
SPEAKER_00I I don't know. Like I have like no game anymore. Like I literally have no game. I literally, if I with this gentleman who's the first person I've had any sort of couple weeks on it, but every there's no game. He literally talks to me like some every he wakes up week to six. Yeah. That's how it's supposed to be. But according to the Graham, it's that's gonna stop. It's gonna fizzle out, he's gonna lose interest, and then I have to take a $3,900 class for six weeks. It's gonna teach me how to send alluring text messages.
SPEAKER_01Apparently, that's how the kids are like I think it's gonna go this way. Well, or we have a big date. I think it's gonna you're gonna have a great time. Yeah, then once a great time. And then you go on a do I pray before the meeting? And then you do you do you do that at restaurants? Not normal. Well, with my kids, I do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm not trying to like virgin the blood. Yeah. Um, maybe I'll tell them the phone, you need to bring a blood sacrifice when you play. No, it's not a bird. It's so interesting. We haven't had who am I to assume that he doesn't have a relationship. That's what I'm saying. He on my profile, I literally said, Yeah, I only want to date somebody who shares my faith. I he's just not like one of those uh the firemen that she's talking to, is literally sending her videos like this is what I'm looking for in a wife. And I'm like, whoa, cowboy. Well, like Proverbs. Uh I don't know. So, but I'm not dumb enough to think that he's invested in the faith, like at the same place I am, not that it needs to be. But um, like he's like, Do you like Harry Potter? We're joking about books. I was like, no. And he's like, What? Like, because it doesn't, that's the voodoo magic that doesn't go with my juices. What's so funny is I don't think that about Harry Potter. I don't like it because it's popular. I mean, but it's just I I put it in commentary, not hiding it. I don't think I'm gonna go to a lunch date and be like, Holy Mother, Mary of God. Right. But I don't know. Like, what do you share? What do you not share? I had the I had the urge to like send him like sometimes I send him like really a nice message just to be like to remind him that I am a human being and not a brilliantly funny, sarcastic soul. Right. And he like always responds really well to that. I'm like, I just want to say thanks for calling last night. And he's literally though I'm very sweet. He texted me this morning. Uh, I said he should be talking to Gina, they have more in common. So he's like, hey, I hope you got home safe. Wait, that was for Gina. I think it's very funny. He's very funny. Like I said, funny, it's important. And I got another picture of him today. And then he said, That's me with the Indiana Jones hat on. And the person he's with with the Indian on chest is clearly 75. And Gina's like, this is his way of trying to tell you that's who he really is. Yeah. No, she's Gina. But Gina said that's who he really is the Indiana Jones.
SPEAKER_01He's not. I don't think you're being captive. I hope he never lives. Have you heard his voice? Yeah. You'll know if someone on the phone! You'll know if someone's 75 or not. Can I just say someone's married because of me, besides my husband? I had a girlfriend who had never really had a serious relationship. She was in her late 20s, and she was talking to this guy and kind of going out with this guy, and she was like, I just don't think I I don't know. I don't know how I feel. And I was like, Well, let him hold your hand. Yeah. And if he holds your hand and you don't want to vomit, you like him.
SPEAKER_00And now they're married. But the whole point of not being overly physical with somebody is like, then there's that excitement when they do brush your hair. That's that excitement when they do uh brush their hair, like touch your shoulder. And if you've just jumped into this physicality, which is why I love Christian dating in a lot of ways, because it's like it's it's romantic. It's like you haven't just shared everything that there is to share on the first date. Like the world is like we should just jump into bed.
SPEAKER_01I mean, a lot of people don't jump into bed on the first date. You know what? Yeah, I know. But a lot of people, yeah, but first, second, third. And for some reason, first, second, third, Susie. What is not? What is what is this age group of people that are young adults now? Twenties. No, I mean age group 30. Sorry, name the name. Gen Z. Gen Z has less sex.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's sad.
SPEAKER_01But it they go out less, yeah. And because they're on their phone listening to podcasts.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this one. And oh, you know what's horrible? And I learned this from the Italians. We're just getting real raw. Yeah. So if you're a focus on the family podcast listener, you probably should turn off our podcast right now. This is real. My mother doesn't listen to my podcast. Phone sex. I I'm not telling you I didn't know what it was. And I'm not saying I was that naive, but the fact that it is rampant, it is rampant. And I can tell this because I learned it from the Italians, them sending me these like racy. Well, first of all, they're gorgeous. And they weren't what you're thinking as far as like the genitalia. They do this. This is happening. People have asked me, have you gotten the the D p? I was like, are you insane? Oh my gosh, it happens so much. And then women are sending photos back and they're doing this virtual sex thing. It is so bad.
SPEAKER_01No judgment.
SPEAKER_00So I'm just gonna say no.
SPEAKER_01We look and we don't judge. Yes. We I'm judging. I don't judge. Whatever. Like, you know, people could look at my 20s and be like, oh, okay. Okay. I'm judging. I um I find the idea of getting receiving a picture like that absolutely repulsive.
SPEAKER_00I don't think there's a woman on the planet that would be like, I was on the fence about you. Yeah. But, but, but then you sent me that picture. But then but what about the shirtless? Oh, I don't want that either. Oh, girl. It's so douchey. Is that a bad word? Um, yeah, but when they're not from this country, it kind of works. Maybe. But you know, but it's all fake and it's not. But here's what I was bringing up. I think the sexual objectifying can be used with technology in the younger generation. They already want to leave their house, they don't want an intimate connection, and they're just using each other for sexual gratification of like, I'll send you a picture, you send me a picture. I didn't realize how prevalent this is, and it's not even just the young people. It's like it, it's like, it's like I'm objectifying your body, and you're objectifying my body through pictures and videos and chat, and it's so anti of God.
SPEAKER_01Right. And and there is something cultural to it because there are other cultures that when they look at a woman's body, it isn't automatically sexual. What culture is that? Many. What name one? Roberta, hold on. Because I don't know, but there's a lot of tribal cultures. I don't want to say I don't want to play tons of tribal cultures. Top names are lots and lots of places.
SPEAKER_00Why can't you just say that? There's cultures. We can't name them. Yeah. Okay. Name a culture that doesn't objectify women. I do have a source. You don't, I mean, can you verify this? Yes. Okay. 100%. No, they're just not in America. Yes. Okay, I'll take it. Yeah, they're not in America. Put it on the Googler. Yeah. Uh, but doesn't the male body react to looking at the female body like in a tribal, God-made male and female way? Like, I don't think that's wrong.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that's wrong. But admiring a woman's beauty is something different than looking at her as something that should immediately be conquered.
SPEAKER_00This is such a crazy question. When did we decide what body parts were objectifiable versus non-objectifiable? Because back in the day it was like women were topless and all this stuff, but now it's like this. Who made that? Like, where was the board meeting? Was it Bible titles? No. I mean, like the mammary glams that breastfeed children are now in erotic body part. Like, I don't know. Who made the rules? I mean, was there a board meeting in the Bible? And Abraham was like, you know what? Elbows are out. Elbows are out. I I don't know. Breasts are in. They're beautiful. They are beautiful. But so are your eyes. Right. I mean, so is your clavicle. If people could be watching right now, Susie and I have an LA way of telling each other we are beautiful, is our clavicles are showing that means we're skinny.
SPEAKER_01Again, we apologize for anything remotely seeming like an eating disorder.
SPEAKER_00Okay. But we're not, we're just joking. We're just joking. I think this is so fascinating because I've never stopped to think about it. In different cultures, women and men are like I was I was seeing the David. Okay. This is this is so this is a great podcast. I love this podcast. The David is a statue of a very beautiful naked man. Well, here's the funny part his hands are small and his genitalia is small comparatively to the body of the David. Back in that culture, in that day, when he was sculpting that, the aristocracy and the rich people did not value a grandiose hands and genitalia. So he sculpted the David in proportion to what they thought was attractive. Well, sure, sure.
SPEAKER_01But I mean, there are cultures that be that and in history and also today where the the healthier or the more weight has on her, the more, you know, the more beautiful she is.
SPEAKER_00This is so true. This is, I was in Africa and I was showing pictures to the high school kids about my daughter Ruby, and Ruby's a gorgeous little curve star. And they would say how much they thought she was attractive because they love her curves. And I think it represents health. I think it represents, no, they really were like attracted. And I think in America, she might struggle a little bit with her self-esteem because she's a bigger teenage girl. And I she's so beautiful. But it's funny how these guys were like, she's so beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think it's just different cultures have different things that are seen as beautiful or things that we or saying things that are considered modest.
SPEAKER_00I mean, look at how far we've come as a society when I'm looking at my face and you're looking at your face, and we I go, you know, it would be great, is if my chin was more narrow. Oh, I know. Like that's for my overbite from our loss. Right. Right. And so, and then Instagram will confirm that with an algorithm now that has there's some sort of Botox treatment that'll get you a snatch jaw. Like, and are men looking at my chin and going, you know what? I would ask her out again, but the chin is a little wide. No.
SPEAKER_01Who's doing that? No, I don't know. They're yeah, no.
SPEAKER_00So it all goes back to like attraction and and I I think this is such an interesting conversation. Pheromones are real. They are real. I don't want any, I don't want to look at anyone else's husband and go, oh my god, like you're I can look at your husband objectively and go, yes, he's a handsome man. Totally. I don't care. Yeah. And you don't care whether I really think Brody's a handsome man or not. But if he is attractive to you, it's I it's chemical. I don't you think it's chemical. I think chemicals are a part of it for sure. I mean, it's intentions, it's intellect, yeah, it's all those things. So then if you've been talking to this person for a couple weeks or several weeks all the time, and you have this rapport with them, which is not which is actually the least sexual rapport I've ever had with a man that wasn't just clearly a friend. When you see him, is it gonna flip? Like if I see him and I have a date and I'm attracted to him and he's attracted to me, how does our conversations change? Is he supposed to all of a sudden be like flirty with me? Because we've definitely drawn the line not to be that. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well we will see, won't we? Yeah, well, just see. I mean, just go with the flow. Don't be overly concerned. About what to do next. Be concerned about getting to know the person. I think that's one problem that people have with dating, is we get so understandably, we can all be very self-conscious, but we get so self-focused on ourselves that we forget to discover the person.
SPEAKER_00And that's why I'm sort of across from us. I'm not trying to send him cute selfies. I was like shopping and I was like, I bought a cute outfit. He's like, What'd you buy? I'm like, I'm not sending like cultural today, it would be like, let me entice you. Let me continue to send you pictures. My thirst strap, that's what they call it, thirst strap. Um it's just this is an interesting social experiment being old.
SPEAKER_01And then I have a lot of issues with date, not dating today necessarily, but I have a lot of issues with like the red pill concept and all those things. I mean, please tell me what the red pill concept is.
SPEAKER_00The Turks.
SPEAKER_01No, I think red pill, it's kind of like this very misogynistic movement that's happening. Oh it's very upsetting and it's horrible.
SPEAKER_00I think that I would classify this person, I swear, I and you would meet him and you would be best friends. He's like a feminist.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like he literally was like, I can't share too much, but he saw a book that was sort of inappropriately representing women. Just a book. And he's like, why is this book out? It doesn't, it was like a feminist like empowerment.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's very confusing because there are good. I just want to preface Oh, there are great guys. Great guys. I have great male friends that are not Christian and that are Christian. My husband's a great guy. I know so many great guys that are appalled at certain movements within our culture about how men are talking about women. I find it very confusing when someone is like, the gayest thing you can do as a man is have sex with a woman. That is confusing. What? Yes. What's he gonna say the person's name to that? The gayest thing. So they want you to have sex with a man? Um it's very confusing. I don't understand. Or, or I've also heard it say, the gayest thing a man can do is have sex with a woman without the point of reprodu without procreation being the same. I'm so frightened. I know. I'm so frightened. I know.
SPEAKER_00I'm so frightened.
SPEAKER_01And I'm not gonna say the name of the people who said it because I don't want to give them any kind of-like we as women, we want men that are sensitive and in touch with themselves, like a human.
SPEAKER_00But wait, and and you're married, so you could tell me how this works out for you. But we also want that guy that could like pick you up and carry you if there was a fire. Like, I am very attracted to masculine energy. Sure. And I've dated all kinds of guys that have different types of energies. But like, I feel bad for them. I literally feel bad for them because we're putting all these mixed signals out there. I want you to understand my feminine side. I want you to relate to it. But like, if I can't, like, I have a flat tire, I need you to come change it.
SPEAKER_01But see, this is the thing. This is the thing that is each other. Um, this is the thing that I think we they hold on.
SPEAKER_00Gentle parenting.
SPEAKER_01This is a really good point. I I'm almost done, and then we'll go because we're gonna be running late. You want you have a stuffy nose? Okay, try to blow it. Can we try to blow it? Okay, you do two know how to blow it. Can you help her blow her nose or wade? I'm almost done. Sorry, I know we're running late to the park. This is really good. We're gonna wrap this up in a minute. Because um, so this is the thing that I think just one of the frustrating things I have about culture, and and this is also in our other worlds, this is the type of things I talk about, actually. So the one of the biggest issues we're having is this hyper gross generalization of what it is to be feminine and what it is to be masculine. We are forgetting that there is a big, wide spectrum of what is femininity and what is masculinity. And I feel like it's getting attacked. Yes, and we're leaning into an idea that masculinity or femininity is actually a personality, and it's not. So when I hear those men or that type of men who are like, I'm like beating my chest, or this is who I am. That is not masculinity, that is a personality of someone who happens to be a man, you know, not actual masculinity.
SPEAKER_00Like I heard, I heard this guy, his name's Davi, and he's got three million followers on Instagram, and three million, and he's like, Oh, you you women, you want a masculine man, you want, you know, you want all this masculine energy, but you want like you want all this stuff, but he's like, you know what? It was how he said it. He goes, you know what's really oh, sorry. That's good. Oh, I'm literally getting a call from Africa for my adoptive child in Africa. Okay, let me start over. So there's this guy, Davi, and he has three million followers on Instagram and he talks about relationships and he just sits in his car. He's not like a doctor. Yeah. He's like, You women, you want all this masculine, you want all this masculine. You know what you really want? You want a guy that's gonna go to the doctor with you when your dad has cancer. Like, you want a guy that's gonna help you like off the floor when you're like when you're sick. You want a guy that's really gonna be there for you. You say these are the top three things, but really, what's really we're looking for in a life partner is somebody who can stand by you when things aren't hard. But when things are hard and they can be with you. Because we all know, especially at our age, that you know, I think we're going through all these shenanigans of dating just to find a life partner who's like, hey, can you pick up the groceries? Yeah. I'm cold.
SPEAKER_01That 100%. And also when we make masculinity about the tough guy, yeah, you know, what do we do with husbands that are actually disabled that or in wheelchairs that cannot be the one perhaps to carry their wife out of a burning building? Are they not masculine? No, of course they're masculine. We but again, we have over-identified masculinity and feminine femininity into a personality to and I think that my 18-year-old daughter is afraid of being feminine.
SPEAKER_00The whole term trad wife, traditional wife. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01What BS? All these girls that are promoting trad wifeness, let's not forget, they are making money.
SPEAKER_00And by the way, and they they say that they're churning the butter and they say they're making dinner for eight, but they have a staff and a crew and a lighting and makeup that are like I do. I think certain ones do. A lot of them do don't. Well, one of the I mean ballerina. Yeah, ballerina flag. Yeah, but like she's never called herself a tradition. But like, you know, I've done reality shows and I did uh Tori Spelling, she's adorable. And she's like, I made breakfast for you. And on the reality show, she made the breakfast. Well, there's a crew that made the breakfast. But my daughter is like afraid of the term trad wife in in a way that she's afraid of the term to be a traditional wife. And she has a boyfriend who's probably they're probably gonna get married, he's probably gonna stay home with the kids, she's gonna be an airline pilot, he's gonna be a therapist, he's gonna work from home, and like that's the the thing that they've worked out. And it's kind of like she's like proud of that. But if it wasn't like that, I would want her to feel okay about it. Yeah, my life looks so traditional. I mean, are you a trad wife by definition?
SPEAKER_01No, I mean trad wife means traditional wife. Yeah, I think have we excluded the term. Hold on, I don't know if it's a traditional life, right? You know, a lot of this I've had so many people say to me, Well, women need to be back in the home. You know, this all happened when women didn't work in the home. Predominantly, before I think it's called the Industrial Revolution, before then, most people worked from home because predominantly people were working in agriculture agriculture. And, you know, like predominantly they were working together. It was a division of labor. So it's not that women have never worked. Predominantly, like women just work throughout history.
SPEAKER_00They would kill the dinner and you would cook the dinner and you would make the clothes and he would go find the wood. Like it was a it was an equal partnership.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was an equal partnership. It wasn't that, I mean, I had ants that were on the fields too. Do you know what I mean? I mean, a hundred percent. So are great ants, I should say. But the even the concept of traditional life, we have identified and labeled things so extreme, so extremely that we have forgotten there is incredible nuance to it. If anyone looked at my life, they would be like, well, you seem like a very traditional life. And I'm home with the kids and my husband works, and and that is what we have done. That is what we've decided to do. Not because he wanted a traditional life, but because that is what works for our marriage currently. Right. It may not always be that way, you know? So, so the reality is, and I'm even in biblical marriage, biblical marriage is submission to one another in Christ because you are Christians together. Okay. So, and I know all these, whatever. So things on fire. Because it's infuriating to me how much how much lack of education and biblical illiteracy, and I'm not meaning not reading the Bible, but not understanding the cultural background and the context of the Bible. And so you have young women that are thinking, oh, in order to be godly, I have to submit to my husband's opinion all the time, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Having no idea who actually wrote the house codes and that Paul was rebutting the house codes of the day. Infuriating. And so that's number one. Number two, it is life partnership, and different personalities will be attracted to different personalities. It is, it is wanting to be in a partnership with someone.
SPEAKER_00There are let me ask you a question. Do you feel that there's a part of every woman that innately wants to know that they're with a life partner that will take care of them? Sure.
SPEAKER_01Like financially or they want a life partner that they feel will take care of them. I think But what about even like financially? I think some people really want to that to be a partnership, and other people feel more comfortable when it's one partner male, usually, but not always, that is the one that um makes more money. And that is also partially because women, you know, there's feminism for a reason and women in the workforce. We have, I don't even need to say all things, but women have not always had a place in the workforce. No, we couldn't even get a credit card until 1970 something. Okay, we're wrapping up, I promise. So, anyways, all that to say, there is this a over-identifying what marriage is, what Christian marriage is, what traditional marriage is, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. We are over-identifying it. And how I can say that as a believer, look at the women in the Bible and look at how Jesus treated them. If we really want to talk about what Jesus thinks of women, sorry, which is what we should be thinking about as a Christian, then we need to look at his examples and not just Paul's words. Done. And there you have it.
SPEAKER_00All right, have a great day. Okay, so that was lovely. And I know I I really thought this was a great conversation. I do too. I guess I hope that when you listen to us that we're bringing out questions that you didn't think about, or maybe there are questions that you did think about. I hope that you laughed and that you learned and that um you know that we love you. And I have one more thing to say. Yes, Susie.
SPEAKER_01All the young women saying that women shouldn't have the right to vote. I don't know why these women there, it's all of it's some influenced influencer crap. Sorry. Put it in Google. Yes, put it in. But I would like to say they are young, they are speaking, they are on interviewing all these things, like they are getting paid for this, right? Or are trying to build a career out of it. However, I would like to say to them, your version of history is so small and so short.
SPEAKER_00How do we get on voting for women?
SPEAKER_01Well, because it's a concept of like, oh, women need because there's this thing called a family vote. And so there's these young Christian women going or conservative going. I I think it should be a family vote, and I I don't think I should vote because my husband should vote. I'm gonna believe you that these women. It's horrific. But that's fine. If that's what you want to do for you, fine. But otherwise, allow women the right to vote. Because we have a brain and we I can't okay.
SPEAKER_00So in closing, I'm gonna pray for you girls. So I'm gonna close, I'm gonna do a close move. Yeah. Uh okay, so I feel like this has been a learning and a laughing uh super interesting. And I that's why I love doing this podcast with you because you know things I don't. And you know things I don't. Vice versa. Uh yeah. So uh by the next time we meet, I will have had a date unless I decide to cancel. I don't know, probably not. Uh maybe not. And um, we'll see how it goes. And we hope that you learned, and we hope that you're listening and you're connecting with us on YouTube and Spotify and Amazon and Apple Podcasts and YouTube and Instagram and Facebook. We might get in trouble for this time, but yeah.
