Welcome to the Watchmen's Call. We invite you to study with us the ancient prophecies of the Bible and witness their fulfillment in our modern time. Okay, this is part three. We're gonna finally find out what all happens at the end of this. So when we left, David was standing there at Goliath and he had done killed him. But like we said, he had told Goliath, I'm gonna take your head. So what happened? Most of us know the story about how David drew Goliath's sword out and cut his head off, right? Here's the amazing thing. Goliath didn't even have time or the chance to draw his own sword. He didn't have time to even start to fight David. So here's our lesson in that. Folks, if we act in God's timing, the enemy won't even be able to use the weapons that they have brought to destroy us. Think about this. God knew David was going to need a sword, right? So he actually made Goliath bring it to David. I mean, what an awesome God we serve, folks. If we are in the battle and we're following what God says, and during the battle, we've got to have something else. Well, God knew that way ahead of time. God had that sword waiting on David to finish the job so he could take Goliath's head. The enemy, the sword that he brought to actually use against David was turned on himself. That's how God protects us in these fights if we're in his timing and in his place under his calling, not under ourselves. Okay, now next. The threat wasn't over yet. We have to stay focused. We have to stay focused. There'll be plenty of time to rejoice when the battle's over. So don't get all caught up in yourself in the middle of the fight and think you're all that. Nobody steals God's thunder. Remember, all the Philistine army was watching, including Goliath's four brothers. See, David knew he had to act fast and precise. He couldn't give them time to think about anything, probably the same way with the lion and the bear. But who else was watching? Israel. All of Israel. But nobody on either side had time to react. Why? Because God kept David in total control, just like David said in verse 46. Remember, he said, This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand. I will strike you, he did that with the stone, and take your head from you. He did that with Sat with uh Goliath's own sword. And this day, not only that, this day I will give the carcass of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, the very same threat that Goliath was using against David. David prophesied that back at him. There's not going to be a pause. Everything's happening one thing right after another, just like dominoes. One thing right after another. We can't stop in the middle of the fight and think that we got time to, you know, do some kind of uh victory, victory run or whatever you want to call it. And talking about stealing God's thunder, remember, Saul tried to do that. You read back in verses or chapter 15 and 16, you'll see where it costs him the kingdom of Israel. He set up a monument for himself because he thought he was all that. That's uh 1 Samuel 15, I think, chap verse chapter 15 and verse 12, and then 1 Samuel chapter 16, verse 1, God said, I have rejected him. We have to remember that. We have to stay focused. Okay, let's get back to the battle. So remember also the Philistines in Israel were watching the battle, but who else? Saul. That's right. Saul was watching all this happen too. Verse 55 tells us that when Saul saw David going out against the Philistines, so he was right out there with all of Israel watching what was going on. Think about this. They just witnessed a young man take down the commander of the entire Philistine army and kill him and take his head off with his own sword. Now, this guy was the biggest warrior the Philistines had. He was a giant, he was nearly ten foot tall. Fear totally swept over the entire Philistine army like a tidal wave. I mean, it just crushed them. Verse 51 says, and when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled. Can't you imagine? They were all roaring and hollering and everybody, they just knew Goliath, their champion, was going to just go out there and again, probably just stomp David to death or whatever. It wasn't going to be a match. They was laughing, cutting up, and Israel the whole time was holding their breath. They didn't know what was fixing to happen. And all of a sudden, Goliath stops. I mean, he's just in a, he's in a he's headed towards David and he he just starts falling. And I can imagine the entire Philistine army went dead silent when Goliath hit the ground. I mean, dead silent. They was just in awe. What what just happened? What why is he laying down? What happened? Probably, probably the Israel army too, just totally quiet. Everybody froze in that moment except who? David. Folks, when God gives us the victory in a battle, we can't stop right then. We got to make sure it is totally, totally complete. He didn't stop even for a second. Again, he knew there was no time at all for any kind of delay. Verse 52 says, When Israel realized what was happening, they pursued the Philistines and killed hundreds of them, thousands of them. I'm not real sure what the what the number was. Here's what we have to remember. There's a lot of people maybe sitting in the church pews, maybe sitting where you work, maybe sitting somewhere, or you might not even know, but they're watching you. And when they see you step out for God, especially in these days where it's just an absolute no-no, or it's nobody's doing it. There's no leader standing up. But when they see somebody step out for the right cause, they've been wanting to do it. Everybody's been wanting to do it. The entire Israelite army was wanting to go kill Goliath, but they were scared to death. None of them. It says they all ran, they all fled. They were all scared, including Saul, their king. When God is wanting to use you to perform whatever, whatever task it is, let him use you. Make sure that he is the one calling you. And when people are watching and they see God start moving, you've heard of all these revivals that are breaking out. One or two here, another one will come in and get saved, and all of a sudden there's just this massive revival happening. And we've heard about it with a lot of the young kids. That's the same thing that was happening with David when Israel were watching David, and when they saw David actually cut the head off of that giant, people will see you spiritually cut the head off of the giant that has been holding them back for all this time. They're looking for a leader. They're wanting a leader, and maybe you are the one God's calling. Maybe you don't look like it. Maybe you're not the big strong one. Maybe you're not the one that looks like a preacher, whatever a preacher is supposed to look like, or a teacher, or just somebody that is that is called to do a task. Most of the time we we don't look like what everybody thinks. The disciples certainly didn't look like they were going to be the prophets, did they? The apostles. Jesus, nobody thought he was going to be the king of kings or the messiah, but sure enough, that's who he was, and that's who we are. So when we're called and we let God use us and we follow his commands and we follow every step, we don't talk until he says talk. We don't get all built up in ourselves thinking that we're all that, we stay focused on the task that God gives us, whether it's a giant battle or just some little something that people think that is not really all that important, but it is. If God sets you up to do something, it is very important. Very important. So back to verse 52. When Israel realized what was happening, they pursued the Philistines and just slaughtered them. Verse 53, the army of Israel came back from the chase and took all the stuff from the Philistine tents. Remember, the Philistines took off so fast they didn't stop to get any of their stuff. When God defeats the enemy in a in a a way like this, the enemy's not even going to stick around to try to gather up what little bit of stuff that they have stole, probably, or what little bit of stuff that he's tried to take from you. He's going to flee in the name of Jesus. Now, folks, you have to be careful and make sure that God has called you to this battle. Don't just jump out there, I keep saying that, don't just jump out there and say, God said, or I feel like, or I think, you better know for sure, because you jump out there and try to fight the devil, even the word tells us that we're no match for him. But God through us can defeat him. So let's get back to the story. We're about we're just about to draw this thing up. So David took the head of Goliath to Jerusalem. And when Saul saw David going out against Goliath, he asked Abner, then this was back in the back in the fight, whose son is that? And Abner said, I I have I have no idea. I really don't know. Now think about it. David had just talked to Saul about going out and fighting Goliath. And Saul forgot that fast. So don't be surprised when the people that you're talking to that may be in charge of something, when they see you actually doing something, don't be surprised if they forgot even talking to you. If they forgot who you are, don't take that personal. None of that matters. God will prove what he wants to prove, he'll prove his self and he'll prove you. So don't worry about it if people don't remember your name. You know, actually, sometimes that's a blessing in disguise, see? So David went back, and Saul said, Find out. So David took the head of Goliath to Saul, and Saul asked, Whose son are you, young man? And David said to Saul, I'm the son of your servant Jesse, the Bethlehemite. And Saul knew God's hand was on this young man David because of his obedience. Remember, God had already decided to get rid of Saul because of your obedience, my friends, the world and our enemies, your enemies, the whole situation that the devil's trying to just roar and use to destroy you, they will know that God's hands are on you. They'll know. So stay focused. Or if you ever get to where you feel like you just can't take it anymore, pick up your Bible, open up to chapter 17 of 1 Samuel, and reread that story of David and let it encourage you. God's word is alive and it is meant to encourage you. Y'all be blessed and keep watching.
